One Piece #758 (vol. 76)
Hang on, I need a second... Usopp, who usually takes credit even for things he didn't do, who respects Luffy's good opinion so much that he credited his faith in his crew as the reason they kept fighting, that he agreed to work with a random, dangerous Warlord in a plan to take out an Emperor of the Sea just because Luffy complimented him, saying it doesn't matter if he never finds out that Usopp saved his life, as long as he's safe and can keep going...
Not that it's unprecedented for Usopp to do something like this - in fact, it's one of the first things we see him do. He also kept Kuro's invasion of his home village a secret. And maybe I'm reading too much into this, but I don't think it's completely irrelevant that Syrup Village's existence such as it was (a peaceful and carefree place that, if anything, could use someone like Usopp causing mischief to liven it up every once in a while) depended on the secrecy. Here he just thought, "I saved you, that's enough".
(Not to mention the comparison - this would be putting Luffy on the same level as his home village, the place he grew up in.)

An AU I've been brewing in my slow cooker of a brain
Read right to left!!! (manga style!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
part 1/part 2/part 3
AU explanation: My self-indulgent AU where Sanji gets to have/be a brother. AKA Yonji gains the normal human emotional spectrum. Why Yonji? Mainly because he's younger than Sanji and having someone call Sanji 'nii-san' was funny to me and then I proceeded to get attached. This is pre WCI arc so the Strawhats don't know about the Vinsmokes yet.
How did Yonji get 'fixed'? Well around age 14-15 he accidentally unlocked advanced observation haki in the form of emotion sensing in the middle of a battle (slaughter) for Germa 66 and proceeded to be overwhelmed and have a mental breakdown. He struggles with controlling it for a long while and was constantly sensing all the negative emotions that followed after Germa. Slowly, Yonji begins having doubts about Germa. It's not long after that he also choses to leave, and somehow, he ends up a fashion designer/tailor while wandering. He's been figuring out how to be a 'normal' human ever since.
He also lowkey began idolizing Sanji in his head because Sanji was able/willing to leave Germa so early. Also for Sanji being able to take what Germa put him through. (Wow having a moral compass and conscious does wonders for you world outlook.) Was pretty proud to see Sanji in the local newspaper two years ago.
He's a disaster who is also under-socialized and relies on his haki to pick up what other people are feeling (or how he should be feeling about a situation) because he can't pick up on social cues.
Yeah. There's more but I'll save it for other posts. Feel free to ask me about it tho! I love talking about my AUs if you couldn't tell. XD

We need more 40yo zosan fics like Please
Idk if I’ll write a real fic for it cause writing hard but I can give you some more silly little thoughts about them
Zoro becoming the baratwo's accountant cause he can do quick math and he's spent so long helping Sanji with the straw hats food stocks that he's very familiar with how it all works, so the learning curve is almost nonexistent. It gives Sanji and Zeff a lot less to stress and it means Zoro can actually earn his keep around the damn place. But after a while he starts to notice he's getting headaches really often and now sometimes he'll mistake certain numbers for others. Next time Chopper comes around Zoro tells him and the doctor is like 'oh you need glasses'. They get him reading glasses but this happens around the time Sanji gets his first gray hair so Zoro is like 'Sanji can not see me like this.' so he tries really hard to keep his glasses a secret.
He starts doing paperwork only in the office and with the door closed, which is new. Usually he'd either do it in their bedroom at night so Sanji could listen to him, or if he's doing it in the office the door stays open. Obviously Sanji notices the difference and so he tries to catch him to see what he's doing. Any time that door opens Zoro rips his glasses off and he puts them in a drawer. That drawer stays locked when he's not in there too.
It eats away at Sanji because why is he being so sketchy?? And that drawer is locked so what's in there? Zoro gets really cagey when Sanji comes in to watch him work or give him food and it makes the cook paranoid. There's like a week where they kinda dance around each other before Sanji breaks and has this super dramatic 'who is she?' moment and he's so loud about it most of the waitstaff have to hear about Zoro's supposed infidelity. Which they all know is bullshit because as if Zoro could do any better than Sanji, and even if he could, Zoro genuinely still acts like a horny teenager for his man so it's really not likely he's cheating. They've also all seen those stupid glasses since Zoro doesn't hide them unless he feels Sanji around with his haki.
But Sanji, still in his 'I look old' crisis, is so upset and it makes Zoro feel really bad and stupid for hiding the damn things. So he pulls Sanji behind his desk and unlocks the drawer for him. Sanji stares at the glasses for like a full minute before he picks them up, the swordsman is trying to explain in a way that doesn't make it sound like he's also afraid of looking too old for his husband. But that's honestly what it is, they're both worried age is gonna effect how the other sees them. They both laugh at how ridiculous it is for a bit afterwards.
But then Sanji gets pissy when Zoro puts the glasses on for him. Crows feet and old man glasses look really good on him and that is just not fair.

Random Headcanons
This time about Ace and his narcolepsy.
I’m no expert and while there’s probably a proper name for his sleep attacks , I’ve always called them drops in my head .
I’ve noticed that his narcolepsy never acts up during fights or dangerous/ serious situations.
In albasta he drops before smoker shows up. As for buggy … well comparative wise buggy isn’t much of threat to ace power wise.
So My headcanon is that Ace’s narcolepsy only acts up when he’s safe and is a very accurate indicator for when things are safe.
Why? Ace grew up exploring what’s probably one the most dangerous Forrest’s in the east blue( like the gaint animals are what you normally see in the grandline) and fighting adults in place like grey terminal. So maybe his bodies survival instincts developed as an unconscious self-defense mechanism that wards off his narcolepsy until it’s deemed safe. Even when he’s eating he stays awake and alert.—- because eating can induces a narcoleptic attack/ drop ,( yes I did do some research and it’s when he’s eating that we see Ace actually drops in the anime)
As to How the body knows when it’s safe or not , probably an unconscious use of observation haki. Again ace is basically a feral jungle child I wouldn’t be surprised if he unlocked a little bit of haki while in survival mode. If unlocked conquers haki at ten it might not be far of stretch he unconsciously unlocked and used observation haki.
It doesn’t take long for he’s brothers , specifically Sabo, to notice. He starts using it to gauge situations or whether they’re in the clear or not. Like after hunting a tiger or stealing from a bunch of thugs.
Sabo calls it the drop gauge.
The drop gauge is effective enough that his brothers (and later his crew) trust it implicitly.
Seriously they could be captured or and held at gun point by someone like a yanko ,warlord, or admiral but if Ace drops they instantly relax.
because if it’s safe enough that Ace dropped it probably means that whatever the situation is isn’t dangerous so there’s not a lot a lot to worry about.(and usually means that they can get out of the situation easily).
( whether or not ace aware that he’s used as a gauge is up to interpretation)
:::::::::::::::::::::
Bonus Scene: The spades also use the drop gauge especially for after a big fight or a rough storm, everyone keeps their guard up until Ace drops , meaning they’re in the clear , then they can relax.
Spade pirates just finished raiding a marine base or rival pirate crew.
Despite being over an hour since they’ve seen any enemies and probably a safe distance away The whole crew are on alert. Weapons ready and everyone is in position to defend or to get the ship ready to make a quick getaway.
Deuce who’s going over a map with A newer member of the crew.
Deuce: We can head towards this island here if they catch up us.
New crew members: um deuce do we really need to make another escape route? think we can relax now.
Deuce glancing at their captain ,who was talking with skull: no not yet.
Newer crew member: But it’s been an hour already and we haven’t seen anything. I think we’re pretty safe now.
Deuce, knowing that the other more senior members were keeping subtle eye on their captain turns back to the map in his hands:Not until the captain shows us it’s safe. Until then stay vigilant and be ready for anything.
And few minutes later is when the captain ‘shows’ it’s safe.
Ace drops mid conversation, skull catching him before he face plants on the deck.
None of the crew panic when their captain suddenly slumps over ,They’re all to used to the logia suddenly dropping out of nowhere, that they’d normally continue with what they were doing like nothing happened. Unless it it was after a battle.
Anytime Ace drops after a fight he’s always properly checked over.(there have been false drops before like when ace lost to much blood or that one time he got poisoned).
Deuce a little concerned ( because his captains an idiot who doesn’t tell him when he’s injured until he passes out from his wounds) :Well?
Skull looks up after evaluating the logia , who’s already starting to snore, giving the first mate a thumps up.
Deuce smiles and turns back to the rest of the crew. They were all waiting, had been the moment bone and ace stopped talking. they all look in direction waiting for the verdict.
Deuce:Alright captain dropped we’re all clear!
There’s a cheer as the crew finally relaxes.some even start making they’re way to retrieve the booze they managed to steal along with lots treasure.
Ace wakes up: Why is everyone Cheering?
If i got something wrong about narcolepsy and how it works please let me know.

Sanji black fire theory
I know a lot of people already were talking about it, but because the theories I saw tend to associate it with some demonic epithet, I have been very hesitant to adopt it. The theory I have is that his max power would have a godly/holy name (my theory/explanation here), so I had been very reserved about the black fire thing.
I have now somewhat changed my mind about it.
It occurs to me that if the black fire is the manifestation of conqueror haki, it can still have a "holy" epithet. For example, Shanks's haki attack is called Kamusari 神避, or translated as "Divine Departure".
Tumblr media
With that in mind I'm gonna revisit the "foxfire" idea I once mentioned, just with some slight tweaks.
"Foxfire" is kind of a fire ability that is not entirely explained. Back when Sanji said it in Thriller Bark, it was being portrayed as a joke. However, Kin'emon later uses "foxfire technique" that actually interacts with real fire. It produces fire, and also cuts fire.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Unless I missed something, I cannot find explicit description of what exactly makes the fire, but it seems to be implied to have been Haki ability. Once again, until proven otherwise, based on this I will assume that somehow Haki can generate fire.
In which case, it's not impossible that Sanji's "foxfire" joke can later manifest as a full-fledged fire ability that allows him to actually fly (like Ace).
In the same Thriller Bark context we already had a joke manifesting into reality. Remember that when Usopp told Sanji about Absalom, he just went completely berserk, and Zoro told Usopp to stop lest he "henshin into something"?
Tumblr media
Well... further plot development shows that if Sanji get really angry, he can now indeed "henshin into something":
Tumblr media
Some people have also theorised that the black fire will be related with the Germa modifications because of this, since the name "Stealth Black" implies that a successful modification would've made Sanji's hair black.
I somewhat agree with it, though I don't subscribe to the idea that Sanji's hair will turn black if he unlocks the ability to use black fire.
Going back to Kin'emon's fire ability. Assuming that it's indeed haki, then it means that he makes the fire by channelling the haki into his sword. In which case, maybe that was the same with Sanji, except that it's channelled through his leg and not through a tool or weapon.
It may be possible that if Sanji manifests advanced Conqueror Haki, which can be infused in body parts or weapons, his fire legs will be black flames. It would also match his already existing epithet, "Black Leg".
This also fits my theory about Sanji being symbolised by "solar eclipse" in relation to Kamen Rider. I may have to re-explain it based on the new material I have, but the short of it is: I see Sora as representing "sun", while Germa is "moon". Solar eclipse is a phenomenon where the sun and moon lines up.
The Kamen Rider connection is that Kamen Rider Black, whose name and powers symbolise solar eclipse, has all the body modifications given to him (including an exoskeleton armour) by the evil organisation. However, due to still having human heart, he uses all that power for good. I strongly feel that sensei used this particular character as Sanji's reference.
Therefore, I feel that this means that Sanji will use "both the sun and moon together", not see the "moon" as a hindrance. He will "redeem" the exoskeleton and other Germa modifications that he has. Someone somehow will fix it later so that it will not affect his ability to empathise and be kind, and he will combine the exoskeleton (Germa science) with Armament Haki and Conqueror Haki (Sora's influence) to use the black flames.
Why is Haki "Sora's influence"? Because as we've seen with the other brothers, not having fear of death means that they also don't have a particularly strong will to push themselves to the limit. They do have some fighting spirit still, but it doesn't seem to be enough.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even if you argue that Perospero's candy is too strong to break, you don't see the Vinsmoke brothers bothering to even try. For example, until proven otherwise, Yonji's power was supposedly some kind of superstrength that is above Ichiji and Niji. Why is he talking about the weapons and not trying to break free?
Compare that to Luffy, who we know has very strong will, using all his power to try to pull himself free from the book pins that trapped him. Nami and Opera both told him it's no use, but he still tries anyway.
Haki is a power that comes from willpower. No strong will, no haki. Therefore, Sanji's ability to use haki is because of Sora's efforts to preserve his "heart".
Aside from the symbolism, we already saw that he needed to have the exoskeleton in order to use Ifrit Jambe. His normal body is not strong enough to withstand the heat. If black fire is even more powerful than Ifrit, he will need the exoskeleton even more than this.
Tumblr media
It would be really cool if the flying foxfire joke manifests as black fire wings, really. It would be a close allusion to the Lunarians, without actually making him one.
My personal favourite guesses for the "godly/holy" names Sanji might use for his max power are: Acala (Fudou Myou'ou is a god connected to solar eclipse), Garuda (Lunarians resemble Garuda), Archangel (as a counter to Seraphim)
I'm sort of reserved about Garuda, honestly, because Sanji knows that was Judge's name. The clones were saying it when the two fought. Sanji might not want to use it as his own power name, because he hates Judge, and even "redeeming" the Germa ability for good usage might not erase his distaste for the name.
Still, maybe it will turn out that Garuda has a much deeper significance in One Piece lore. A personal favourite theory of mine is that Germa in the past is actually a force of good, and Sanji will be the one to "reclaim" that good past somehow. Maybe Garuda is related to that, and so if the good outweighs the awful stuff Germa has become, maybe he'll be okay with it.
Secondary guesses that are still cool, but not my personal preference: Draco/Dragon (due to yin yang symbolism), Vulcan (fire god), Surya (sun), Ignis/Agni (also fire).
A rather unlikely option, but it would be funny if it's true: "Erasmus". St Elmo's fire is sort of the Western version of foxfire, and "Elmo" is the shortened form of "Erasmus". Funny because then we can make Hellmo memes about it.

Aura
I’m sorry but I feel this needs to be said. Aura is by far the most under-used source in RWBY beside dust. Look I get it aura is used to make barriers and fuel semblances but that's it. I mean the semblances are sometimes horrible at best. Especially when they’re passive. Oh my, the worst semblance to me is sadly Qrow’s because anything could happen. You could be enjoying your day and something bad happens because you're there. But that’s minor.
Now some semblances are good. We got semblances that can stop time. We got some that can erase memories. We even got some that can create clones and summon creatures. Too bad summoning things is only in the Schnee department but still. However some of them can be both imitated and surpassed by other characters. For example, Adam, Yang and Tock. Adam creates a wave projectile to slice his enemies. Yang can build and store energy every time she takes damage from enemies and dish it back ten fold. Tock can literally take no damage until her timer goes off. Guess who can copy these abilities? Five characters; Ren, Blake, Fox, Qrow and yes, even Jaune can do it.
Four of these characters have managed to replicate Adam and Yang’s semblances. Blake and Qrow manage to create slashes in the air to launch at their opponents before. Though theirs are not strong as Adam’s they still performed the same function. Fox and Ren can do the same like Yang. I mean, in volume one and two, Ren and Fox made Grimm’s bodies explode. And the sad part about it is Jaune can do all this because of his aura reserves and his semblances. And this is why aura control is needed.
We need characters who are better skilled in aura. I understand semblances are supposed to be unique and tied more to the user but if you were a hunter and you never unlocked your semblance or if you did but it’s not as helpful as you hope, what would be your best source to fight with? Your aura, because so far semblances have been more of let down due to being similar to others. Examples are Harriet and Neon, both being fast characters. Or where it's just in their names. Like Vine with extended limbs; Elm being rooted to the ground; or Clover having good luck. But if you understand the basics and learn more ways to use your aura you can basically do anything. The prime demonstration is Hazel. Nora said herself, Hazel can recharge faster than most people. This means no matter how much damage they dish out Hazel will recover and still keep going.
(Bro I need to say this. Man I’m sorry but in my opinion Hazel is the strongest male character in the RWBY series. Bro, think about it, James was scared of Hazel more than he was of Cinder. And when we saw him fight Salem,… oh my god, these kids were lucky he didn’t really want to fight them because if he did they would all be dead. Like Hazel is the best example of both aura and dust users. He should have stayed alive. Maybe then the kids can finally have a functioning adult in their lives. Hazel solos.)
Okay, after explaining all this, how else can aura be used? Well other than being barriers, slash waving projectiles and a healing factor, it can also be used like haki, chakra or for this show like it was before Salem screwed the world over, magic. But only maidens have magic right? Well let me tell you why I disagree with that statement. But first let's talk about dust.
Dust is the second most under-used source in RWBY. The reason I say secondary is because at least it’s visible in the world. Not only that it is used in weapons, machines, and as ammunition. It is really a natural resource but no one ever uses it in its rawest form. No one except Hazel and maybe Weiss. And what makes it better is they are Remnants of magical elements. Dust in rawest form is more powerful than a gun. And if used properly you can rival maidens.
Maidens are supposed to be special due to them being able to control the elements without the need of dust. However, their power might as well be that of a semblance considering it requires aura to even use. I mean think about it Cinder and Raven. They have used the maiden powers which not only exhausted them as well decreased their aura to the point they break. Not only that they were able to be defeated or in Cinder’s case almost die multiple times. And to prove my case further, Salem is a magic user yet Hazel still killed her multiple times. Hell, Penny was able to beat Cinder even without maiden powers. Basically, the sad truth is the maidens are just keys. If Cinder crossed the wrong person she would be dead. Never mind that if Hazel, Watts and Tyrian wanted to, they actually would have killed her themselves. Especially if she keeps messing up they're plans.
So how does dust increase the use of aura? Well dust is part of the world. And so is the aura. So wouldn’t having more of a connection with the world increase aura and dust efficiency. I mean Vine said aura can be extended. So using the environment itself is good. Just like chakra, if you extend the aura enough to spread across an area enough while using gravity dust you can increase the pressure to keep opponents down. With plant dust trapping your enemies to a certain extent. Heck if you learn to control your aura and merge it with the element you can throw projectiles, create weapons, increase your speed and/or damage output. Effectively uses your whole body as a weapon.
Aura can even be used even without the need of dust. Like with haki it can harden your body against attacks. Extended to where you can locate upcoming enemies. Or when released all at once ,can be used to knock out enemies without engaging in combat.
Look, I am sorry. Please, forgive me but after thinking about this it made me ask this question, “What is a hunter?” Like really what is a hunter because so far this show has disappointed me on the term. We have seen hunters die whether be by non-hunter groups or Grimm who are arguably not that much of a threat. If anything, ordinary people can fight and kill them. Even semblances are starting to become nothing but excuses to why characters act the way they do, like with James who was determined to blow up Mantle because of his ability. Or having basic abilities that other characters should possess like Tyrian’s aura breaking ability. It’s sad really, aura is supposed to be this source of power but it's not as weaponized as I hoped it would be. But that’s my opinion.

So I’m taking a very small break from my tumblr hiatus to literally talk about the new opening and my thoughts about it bc I HAVE A LOT!!!
(Keep this Enso in mind from the opening and how the trail of the Enso continues onwards)
Tumblr media
Under the cut for spoiler talks (for both anime and manga)
Okay so I apologize if this is a bit all over the place but please bear with me.
Something I noticed about Wano as that in a whole, is that it brings up circular natures of each character’s arcs and the story of finding as a whole as we saw through the flashback of what started 20 years prior with Gol D. Roger and his crew.
Every character got something depicted in their character arc that circles back to something in their past in Wano. Obviously the red scabbards doesn’t need much introspection I’m this regard outside of momonosuke, so I’m going to be focusing here on The Strawhats, Law, Kid, Yamato, and Momonosuke.
I’m going to start off with Yamato because of a key factor that I think really was subtle but adds so much to it. As we all know, Yamato when we were introduced to him, had chains on his hands. He was chained to Onigashima (a lone island which is important) at a young age. Now obviously, Yamato was meant to continue that theme of wanting to carry on Oden’s will but he was forcibly shackled there and to the past. Even when you see him with Ace, he’s still shackled and can’t break free of it until after Ace’s death when Luffy comes in and breaks those chains.
Luffy breaking those chains, and Luffy as a whole, was meant to be, of course, the symbolism of of freedom by him breaking the chains of what has bound ppl to their pasts and strive for the freedom to do as they please or move forward from the circular cycle or bonds of the past. This, along with Wano, is where the small trail from the Enzo I believe is impactful. Because every single character got some kind of development in their character that breaks them free from something that limited them or chained them to their past in Wano.
Zoro reaffirming his promises by becoming the King of Hell to better protect and carry out the promises that he made. Not only to his best friend, his captain, but also now to himself and his crew.
Sanji coming to terms with his past and moving forward with the knowledge that he may still have been modified as well but that will never define him, but rather have him tools to fight better to protect his loved ones.
Chopper with combating a virus while on the verge of becoming an ice oni (much in the same way Hiriluk was fighting against time to come up with a way to save people) and then find a cure with the chopperphage nebulizer that also was a pink cloud similar to the Sakura cloud that was set off when he left, formerly drum island.
Robin being entrusted by her friends and helping Sanji who called out for her, and thereby unlocking Demonia Fleure by also facing her past and breaking through the thoughts that her life doesn’t matter.
Brook with seeing the ppl of okobore town weren’t allowed to mourn for ppl that were lost but also being forced to face his past and know he’s got new friends to rely on and fight for.
Jinbei confronting Who’s Who and the battle where the Sun god Nika becomes a focus and him literally breaking Who’s Who with the visage of Fisher Tiger when he activated his own armament haki in regards to his past as a slave.
Usopp confronting his fears and becoming more and more brave and choosing to fight when he saves Kin’emon and Kiku, saying he hates the old traditions of simply laying down your life but rather you should fight to live.
Nami with saving Otama but also standing her ground in the face of potential death (much in the same way that Bellemere had for her and Nojiko) along with the declaration that Luffy will be king of the pirates when she formerly hated pirates.
I will get to Franky more in a moment, but the trust his friends had in his creations being something to save them rather than just being used as a weapon when Usopp and Chopper battled Big Mom.
Law not only made the decision that he wants to now live on and find out why he had to live his checkered life but also gave a very stunning tribute to Corazon who fought for him to live and be free.
Kid was forced to face the consequences of making the alliance with Apoo and Hawkins but broke from that by also developing a trust in the Strawhats and Law by fighting alongside them as allied rivals.
Momonosuke of course being the son of Oden and now finding his own will to live on and continue to carry on his father’s will by choosing to live and eventually, in the future, opening the land of Wano.
Now, here’s the biggest thing. Onigashima started on its own separate island, but has now moved onto the main landmass of Wano. What else lies on Wano, or rather below it?
Pluton.
Tumblr media
I said I would elaborate more on Franky later but I’m also going to touch upon Law in this part as well. Franky as we know completely ripped up the documents regarding Pluton way back in water 7. I also wouldn’t be surprised perhaps if the Water in Law’s name holds some relevance to that and Water 7 as he is the surgeon of Death. Reason for this connection I’m proposing is because of this shot here in the opening which I don’t feel is coincidental if the them of the opening is anything to go off.
Tumblr media
Now that the circular shackles have been broken, we are now moving away from the past cycles and forward into the new paths for each character and the story itself. I think the opening did a beautiful job of showcasing that this is the completion of what was started 20 years ago by Gol D. Roger and is now gearing us up for the path we’ll get to watch as the Strawhats move to find the One Piece.
Anyways, thanks for coming to my Ted Talk!

Sanji the Supreme King 👑🔥 (Sanji CoC Theory 🧵)
source : twitter . com/bigdannyfr/status/1679970343325167617
Tumblr media
First, we have to understand what makes a Conqueror. Some people think you need a kingly ambition, but not all of them follow this criteria.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kingly Ambition such as Pirate King or WSS can’t be used as a flat criteria for CoC. Whitebeard, Hancock, Katakuri, Yamato, and Ace did not possess Kingly Ambitions. Whitebeard never wanted to be King or find the One Piece. He simply wanted a family. Not a Kingly ambition.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So what really makes a Conqueror? The truth is that there is no real criteria. Conqueror’s Haki is given to a select few characters with extremely strong wills. Wills so strong that they can be imposed upon others. That’s all.
Tumblr media
danny 💫 @bigdannyfr · 23h Sanji’s will is SO strong that in Thriller Bark, after Sanji was turned into a zombie soldier controlled by Moria, he STILL upheld his morals.
Not even someone who has taken his shadow and turned him into a undead soldier can suppress his will.
Tumblr media
Sanji’s will is so strong that even on the verge of death, he doesn’t stray an inch from his morals. Sanji possesses Kingly Qualities. Sanji’s immensely strong will and kingly qualities make him a very good candidate for Conqueror’s Haki.
Tumblr media
Sanji’s Leadership Conquerors are natural born leaders. Sanji shares this ability as well. Examples such as Zou and Enies Lobby show Sanji giving orders to the crew, proving that he is a calculated leader. He is also shown leading people who were initially enemies.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sanji’s Development Sanji’s development in the story is very unique. His mental journey in One Piece is accepting and prioritizing himself, something that he has struggled with several times due to his trauma that was explained during Whole Cake Island.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The point of Sanji’s backstory was to highlight his psychological state throughout his life. I believe his trauma served as a mental block. Sanji has overcome his traumatic past and prioritized himself, this is the perfect opportunity for him to awaken Conqueror’s Haki.
Given these Kingly traits that Sanji has shown throughout the series, and knowing he’s one of the main characters and part of the 3 strongest crew members… Why would he not have Conqueror’s Haki?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sanji unlocking Conqueror’s Haki will launch the Monster Trio to new levels.
Monkey D. Luffy: The Pirate King
Roronoa Zoro: The World’s Strongest Swordsman
Vinsmoke Sanji: The World’s Fastest Man
All Supreme Kings. The most dangerous trio in history 👑
Sanji being a Conqueror would fit so well for his role, his development, and his character in general.
If you aren’t convinced, I’m open to discussion if you have an open mind 🙏

The Weather Queen and the Cook King: Power Ups Foreshadowed in Colorspreads
After writing these two theories, I wanted to write a separate post talking about the parts I mentioned Nami and Sanji.
To summarize, I think that these two will be extremely important in Future Island Arc because of two colorspeads that Oda drew during the arc:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
First, I love how Oda chose Sanji as the main focus in the Boys Colorspread and Nami in the Girls Colorspread - but I don't think it was coincidental.
He said we should keep an eye on Sanji in an SBS after the Wano arc, and ever since then, we have seen around two colorspreads that have him as the main focus. So maybe, as unsuspicious as the only girls' colorspread might seem, it might also give us some type of foreshadowing about Nami's next power up as well, since she is in more evidence.
Not only that: Oda also chose to put the words King and Queen for both of them.
(Alright, before anyone comes at me saying that, I'm trying to push them as King and Queen in a shipping way... no. I do want them to be together, but I don't think those spreads are any indicative of that. Nami and Sanji are both one of my favorite characters in One Piece, and I love to talk about them together and separately, and I just really want both of them to have development and growth - Nami specially, because we can already see how Sanji WILL already have a lot of screentime)
The King and Queen titles, I think, mean different things for Sanji and for Nami.
For Sanji, I think he is going to unlock his Conqueror's Haki (which is also known as King's Haki), and Oda played with the similarities between the words "Cooking" and "CoC King" to make it more... questionable and not in-your-face. We all know he loves to do that.
For Nami, I think it has to do with how she will be known as in the world of One Piece.
When Luffy, Jimbei, Chopper and Bonney were exploring Future Island, Vegapunk talks about one of his inventions, which is...
Tumblr media
Yes, a technology that controls climate (Island Aircon) - something that seemingly only controls the temperature of islands (not too threatening).
However, we know how creative and resourceful Nami is with what is given to her and I don't doubt that, if she is given the chance, she could operate Island Aircon in such a way that it could be used as a weapon.
So my theory is that Nami could use Vegapunk's technology to turn Future Island into a huge hell hole for the Straw Hats' enemies.
With her knowledge, she might be able to create cyclones, storms, and even thunderstorms to jeopardize the Marines' invasion into Future Island or to stop them from following the Straw Hats as they run away. With that, she will gain the worldwide reputation of Weather Witch or even Weather Queen, or another title close to that.
It's kind of like how Zoro became the King of Hell, how Raileigh is the Dark King, Usopp is the King of Snipers, and so on and so forth.
In addiction, I think that this is going to be a huge moment for Nami, not only because of her power up but also because of her backstory. I have been coming up with a theory that Nami's past is actually connected to the Void Century and, most importantly, to the Sky Islands and Uranus, which is why her past is still a mystery - since Uranus is going to be the last weapon they will "visit" (they already met Shirahoshi and visited Wano, where Pluton is burried).
So my prediction is that, as Future Island ends, Nami will realise that there is something different within her and that doubt will continue throughout the next arc.
I also have this theory that everyone from the Straw Hat crew has potential to have Conqueror's Haki, but, to me, only the first five Strawhats could have it. This is more of a far fetched theory, I know, but a lot of people have already discussed the possibility of both Nami and Usopp having Conqueror's (maybe Usopp will have CoC in a diferent way than the others) and I think that if they go to Elbaf, Usopp cpuld unlock his CoC there and Nami will unlock hers in the very last Arc of One Piece.
Back to Sanji now! I think his color spread also indicates things that he will use during Future Island and of things that will happen to the Straw Hats there. Basicaly, I think that Sanji will unlock his Conqueror's Haki when his friends are in danger and incapacitated, and he will do everything he can to stop any harm done to them.
The bubbles are also interesting to me, because (although in the colorspread they are coming from the boys' noses) I find it curious that in this arc there is a VERY useful weapon that can incapacitate devilfruit users through bubbles.
Tumblr media
Maybe the weapons will be used against the Straw Hats, OR Sanji will use them against their opponents.
In conclusion, I have a feeling those colorspreads might indicate Sanji's and Nami's next power ups, and I think their roles will be extremely important in this Arc.
And because of this coverpage, I think Franky will be important too:
Tumblr media
But this is a theory for another time...
I'd also like to remind you how two other colorspreads from the same Arc also seem to have Nami and Sanji in evidence (along with Luffy, obviously, and weirdly Chopper?? Hmmm). So we might have to pay attention to them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
To end this post:
Obviously, there's more of a big possibility that this is all just a coincidence, and Oda wanted to say something entirely different. But I don't mind being wrong since the fun part is to speculate and talk about our favorite characters.
Hope you liked reading it anyway! I'd love to know what you guys think!

Imagine chopper unlocking conquerers haki after someone makes him angry beyond belief.
Okay I’ve been trying to write this for a couple days but always got sidetracked 😭 I really like this idea! I hope you don’t mind reaction headcanons for this!
Chopper:
Tumblr media
What if what happened to the children on Punk Hazard happened to someone he cared about, and it was worse treatment? That’s probably what triggered it.
Poor guy is SHOOKETH
Gets kinda scared of his own power, and cries to Zoro for comfort
Then once he’s calmed, he’ll be so happy
He’ll protect the “weak” members so much more confidently
Forgets he has it, much like he forgets he’s a doctor (at least pre-time skip. I haven’t seen him do that post ts yet but I’m only at Dressrosa when I’m writing this)
Asks Luffy to help him control it
Does so much research on it. My little baby scholar.
Luffy
Tumblr media
^ his reaction when he first finds out
He’s so happy though to have such a strong crew
Can he explain how he uses it? Maybe. It’s 50/50. He taught the Kung Fu Dugongs to punch so…. Maybe?
Would help Chopper as best as he could
Eventually would end up getting them dumped on an uninhabited island after crew members kept passing out
Zoro would join them tho because he never passes up a training opportunity. Definitely not to watch his son get stronger
Would probably try to train Chopper with the incentive of food
Zoro
Tumblr media
PROUD DAD MOMENT
He’s literally so happy for Chopper
Might even hug him
Calms Chopper down when he’s crying and overwhelmed about the new power he has
Tells chopper that it’s going to be okay, because Luffy has it too, and they’re both going to help him get a handle on it.
Helps Chopper train his Haki along with Luffy, also training to deal with opponents who might have conquers haki.
Notices when the baby needs a break because he can’t constantly keep up with the monstrous stamina of Luffy and Zoro
Yells at Luffy when he pushes Chopper too hard
Sanji
Tumblr media
^^his face when he finds out
Low key jealous at first
But actually so happy for Chopper
Cooks chopper special foods he learned during the ts to help with stamina and recovery
Fawns over Nami when she faints while Chopper is learning to control it
Makes sure Luffy and Zoro aren’t being idiots about Chopper’s training with regular check ins.
Will join the training sometimes
Nami & Usopp
Tumblr media
These besties would react the same
Would end up passing out
Once they wake up, will screech in shock once they remember or find out what happened
Maybe be a little scared of poor Chopper
Feed off each other’s anxieties for ideas of the worst outcome
Accidentally freak Chopper out, and they get scolded by Zoro
Keep passing out when Chopper is learning and eventually kick them off at an uninhabited island
Take their training time as a vacation
Robin
Tumblr media
Would be shocked when it happens
Then a sort of “oh look at that” attitude
So proud tho
Helps with research and tells Chopper all she knows about it.
Might watch a few training sessions to learn more about it
Casually makes Nami and Usopp’s fears so much worse
Franky
Tumblr media
After yelling and kinda freaking out (in his usual manner)
He is sobbing. Crying. Absolutely leaking tears and snot.
Literally so happy for chopper
So much encouragement from this man
Like an overwhelming amount
So happy to have a crew so strong on his dream ship
Anything they need for training that he can build, they’ll get.
Anyways that’s all I got for this. Sorry it took so long!

*runs into stage at full speed and almost overshoots the mic, skidding back to be able to grab it* but do we realize that Nika form isn't gear 5??? I mean, besides the fact that we know that the technical term is "awakening". All the previous gears aren't so much unlocked by Luffy (besides the fact that both gears 4 depend on him """unlocking""" haki) but something he develops through his own ingenuity? Gear 1 is him manipulating his muscles into pumping his blood faster and more strongly through his body, increasing his power — he's not just making himself hotter through force of will. Gear 2 isn't him increasing his body mass (as a paramecia, he wouldn't have been able to do it, although now we know he's a zoan type), it's him literally blowing air into his body to inflate it. Same thing goes for boundman, a form reinforced by haki mixed with rubber, which is so impressive when you think about it. Snakeman is such incredible control over his body that he can change the direction of his punches several times. I cannot overstate that these aren't forms in the way Chopper's Points are forms — not that he didn't achieve four to five extra forms through ingenuity, too, with his medical knowledge, but there's a difference between unlocking them (they always existed, he just needed to discover them) and developing them. Ultimately, the rumble balls don't elongate his horns or arms or make his hair grow, they allow Chopper to will them to do that, in the same way that, once Luffy awakens his fruit, he can tap into it, even if it takes some effort.
That's why we can't compare "gear 5" with the other gears when it comes to the damage they are/might be doing to Luffy's body (post-time skip, they have little to no effect one him, so he might have become strong enough to handle them... in the same way he's strong enough to rip the mast out of the ship and carry it up a whale). With all his other gears, Luffy's forcing his body to do unnatural things and putting it under enormous strain (isn't blowing air into your bloodstream supposed to give you a heart attack???). Meanwhile, we should look at g5 like we do Chopper's kaiju form, or Doflamingo turning buildings into strings, or Katakuri turning everything into mochi — extremely draining, especially at first, but in the same way a muscle will struggle with a certain weight at first but get better once you've trained it. When he says, "beat loudly, heart!" or "hit that beat!", it's not in response to it stopping, but to it beating normally instead of *battery solo*, aka it's his way of activating his Nika form. It didn't actually kill him, and if it did, it would have been from exhaustion, not from, say, wearing his veins thin and overtaxing his heart because he's trying to push gallons at the speed he's usually circulating liters.
And since I'm talking about his Nika form — it's interesting that while he's using it, he seems to be less affected by haki? Like, being hit with haki by Sanji and Katakuri in Whole Cake Island made him loose a tooth, both times, when we know his bones have to be rubber too or the rest of it wouldn't work. Still, when hit by haki, they react like they're normal. Meanwhile, while it's clear that it causes him pain, he still reacts as if he was rubber, his face molding itself to Kaido's club. I have no idea what that means, I'm just bringing it up.
Also, since I believe that Luffy's gears are not zoan type forms, that means that he was scammed out of either a form or two — compare to Chopper who has his original reindeer form, a middle point (his usual form) and a "full human" form, which he could always access, even without his rumble balls (can you imagine Chopper awakening his df and turning into like. a dude), or Rob Lucci who has a human form, a beast form, and a halfway point (I'm more willing to consider his slimmer, faster point as a form, unlike Luffy's gears, because, while he uses a technique called Life Return to achieve it, that's just another words for extreme control of his body, meaning he's still willing it to happen, like how Chopper needs rumble balls to control his additional forms at first, but eventually develops enough control to access them on his own. Luffy, outside of Nika form, can't will his fist into becoming bigger, he has to blow air into it). Luffy only has his usual rubber form and his awakened Nika form. Again, compare to Lucci, whose awakened form isn't actually a full leopard (that's his beast form) but a powered-up version of his halfway point, Nika isn't the "full" form of Luffy's df (and that awakened zoan types don't become a fuller version of their model in general, and that Chopper's awakening is more likely to be a powered up version of Brain Point). So there's a chance Luffy has a full-human form (no rubber) and a depowered Nika form (rubber, white haired, but without a lot of his abilities like flying and turning other stuff into rubber).
Also, why can he, as a zoan type, turn other things into rubber, when that's supposed to be a paramecia and probably logia type thing? I mean, not that we're ever told that, directly, but I don't see Rob Lucci turning people and stuff into leopards— *yelps* *exits left, pursued by Kuma*

Hey so about your Shanks AU I wonder....what about my boy Usopp?
Like if Luffy can be raised in a pirate ship why can't Yasopp have his own son aboard, and with that Luffy would have a friend around his age
Ah okay, to put it in short kids are liabilities and Yassop isn't a good enough father to deserve his son's love.
For a longer response, the main reason Shanks had Luffy join his crew was because when the sea king bit off Shanks's arm Luffy unlocked conquers haki.
Even then Shanks still stayed back in the blues for a while then In the red line to make sure Luffy was strong enough to hold his own.
Shanks grew up on a ship and knew how much of a liability kids could be.
It also helped that Luffy had the rubber fruit and I think Shanks knew what it actually was.
Even if Shanks knew about Usopp, he'd only take him with if Yassop would look after him and we'll it's Yassop.
Same with Luffy, Shanks was the one who got Luffy to join so he was Shanks responsibility and his alone. Even if Benn ended up taking a parental role as well.
Now, Luffy goes back to the east at around 15 or 16, I can't remember what I made it, but the first person he meets is Usopp, he found out about who his father was and mentioned that he was an apprentice on the same crew.
It isn't until later does Luffy talk about Yassop and the more Usopp knows that less the looks up to his 'dad'. Luffy's complete lack of knowledge of Usopp kinda proved to him that Yassop kinda just abandoned him.
To summarize, Yassop doesn't deserve usopp's love, Kaya does.

Thinking about that one art of Luffy meditating. He'd never really done it before Reilighys training, quieting the mind and being present really helped Luf in his training. I don't see him doing it much on the Sunny because he's already at ease and relaxed but after learning Naibu he's taken it up more. Simply being more aware of his body and my extension his haki is easier training than punching something now that he knows what it is. I also like the idea that Luf thought of his gears unlocking from his understanding of the body. Like who would really think to inflate they're bones or pressurize they're circulatory system to move faster. His battle IQ is freakish and gear 4 is all him pushing what his fruit can do.

It's no surprise that Usopp has really solid reflexes when it comes to shooting.
But I like to think it translates to a lot of different things he does just kinda subconsciously. Usopp is probably extremely used to Luffy stretching individual limbs around to either snatch something or grab at another, and Usopp is quick to slap his hand away or pull the item out of reach. Same when Luffy just randomly decides to fling his head around, he's used to catching it like a ball.
His instincts to dodge are also very solid, especially on a ship of people with crazy attacks and cause a lot of collateral damage. And with his observation haki unlocked, he can sense attacks, intentional or otherwise, coming at him.
The funny part is that these reflexes don't just stop at the Straw Hats and battle. Usopp finds himself catching random people who trip around him, instinctively reaching for people who seem off kilter or about to faint, and have caught many a child toy. It sometimes leads to awkward situations, and he profusely apologizes when he realizes what he's doing. Because yknow, just touching people at random is weird sometimes.

I just read the new chapter! I loved reading Karimis powers in effect it was so well done and really interesting to see the extent of her abilities!
You mentioned (or Mihawk mentioned) Karimi honing her powers in the future, I think you've said her powers activated when she was little bit are they awakened yet? (As in, are they to their full extent?) Because that usually involves the user being in total control and a boost in strength, control, and the range of what they can do (like unlocking some hidden abilities)
(I think you said that she would be able to suggest things to people in the future as well)
I'm so very glad you enjoyed it!!
I kinda sorta really look forward to your asks because your questions are so wonderfully in-depth and it honestly helps me develop things even further, so thank you so so so much ❤️❤️☺️
It was Mihawk that mentioned her honing her abilities; while he definitely wants to utilize her abilities (at the present for his own gain alone), he also utterly detests the thought of having her in his head, and wants to see her get to a point where she has more control over her power to that end.
Karimi's devil fruit abilities are nowhere near awakened, considering she spends the vast majority of her time keeping them suppressed. She was almost four years old when she ate the devil fruit, and her grandmother used her haki to keep Karimi's abilities suppressed from age four to fourteen. This was in no small part because Karimi was so young and being able to hear the thoughts of everyone around her could easily have broken her mind; but also in no small part because several of the residents of Conch Cove were Helena's old crewmates, and Helena didn't want her granddaughter to know about her history as a pirate and be influenced to follow in her footsteps. She did train Karimi in combat and survival skills, but she did so as a precaution. Helena knew her bounty was still active and that she might one day face persecution, and she wanted to make sure Karimi was ready to face the world on her own should that ever come to pass.
So Karimi has really only actively used her devil fruit powers since her grandmother's death when she was fourteen. It was two years later that she joined the Red Hair Pirates and Shanks mentored her in Armament Haki so she could suppress it herself. For the vast majority of her life, she has either had her abilities suppressed or suppressed them herself. She mostly resents the., and typically only uses them in desperate situations.
Awakened, it does allow the user the ability to plant thoughts in others' minds, which I think I mentioned in her character sheet; and likewise, to send her own thoughts to others, essentially allowing for telepathic communication. It will also extend beyond hearing once awakened (e.g. seeing/sending mental pictures, influencing dreams/nightmares, so on), as well as allow better control, e.g. being able to attune to one person at a time and delve deeper than just the surface of their thoughts.
As I said in a previous reply, "Kiku Kiku" (hear/hearing) no Mi was a name coined for her devil fruit without any knowledge of exactly the extent of its powers. As of right now Karimi isn't even aware that it was just a silly placeholder name coined by her father's first mate. It will have a different name later on.

Been seeing a lot of videos on youtube to the effect of “the Straw Hats as Shinigami Captains” or “Hidden Leaf Shinobi as Demon Slaying Corps Hashira” etc. etc.
So naturally I started thinking about the Straw Hats as Negators. What Rules could they have that would most naturally replicate the abilities they have in their own world?
Luffy, Unrestrained - negates any restraints, allowing complete freedom. Normally this means things like chains or cages, but Luffy’s already naturally unrestrained mentality allows him to consider the limitations of his own body to be restraints, and thus unlocks the ability to stretch his limbs beyond silly notions like “bone mass”
Zoro, Unguard - negates anything that would guard against his slashes, making anything cuttable. Defensive Rules like Unbreakable may not actually be damaged, but Unguard can still pass through them (similar to advanced Armament Haki bypassing barriers) to reach the target. As swords are a short-range weapon, Zoro views an enemy putting distance between them as a form of guard, and thus can negate that defense with air slashes
Nami, Uncalm - negates calm weather to create meteorological phenomena
Usopp, Undecrease - Usopp never runs out of ammunition or uses of limited-use items; however, he claims that his ability is Unbelievable, giving him the ability to make any shot. This is both to hide his true ability and to intimidate his enemies into believing that his shots will hit them no matter what
Sanji, Unburn - negates susceptibility to flames; useful for cooking, but Sanji combines it with the flame-manipulating Artifact, Thank You For Smoking, allowing him to ignite himself without being harmed [Note: I originally had him as Unseen, gaining invisibility so long as his eyes are closed and rendering the ability useless for peeping on women, but this makes more sense for Sanji and frees up Unseen for Shiryu]
Chopper, Unhuman - negates Chopper’s humanity, turning him into an animal; with enough practice, Chopper gained the ability to regulate the ratio of human-to-unhuman, giving him multiple modes. The animal that the user turns into seems to vary between users, Chopper happened to turn into a reindeer. [Note: since we’ve never heard of an animal gaining a Rule, this version of Chopper is human]
Robin, Unlimited - not being limited to being in one place at a time, Robin can create copies of herself or her limbs, though her senses are split amongst her replicants making controlling them taxing and potentially dangerous if they get hurt. After reevaluating her Rule, she found that she could make larger replicants by combining a number of them. [Note: I originally had her as Unchange, but this is more accurate to the Hana-Hana Fruit’s abilities]
Franky, Unbreakable - since it’s an ability that focuses on crafting, it only makes sense that Franky, who made his body nigh invincible and specializes in making things on the fly, would have this ability
Brook, Unfade - I considered Undead, but that honestly seems a bit overpowered for Brook, then I remembered Feng locked in a cell stating “I finally understand this Soul thing...” and remembered that Brook also learned how to control his soul while locked in a cage by Longarms. The idea that Brook has been alive so long that his body actually decayed into bones is both really funny and extremely disturbing, so it’s perfect
Jinbe, Unbreathe - negates Jinbe’s need for oxygen. Because he can remain underwater indefinitely, Jinbe uses the Artifact Waterworld to manipulate water
Vivi, Unhostile - she’s an honorary Straw Hat, and that’s good enough for me. Unhostile negates any hostility an opponent may have towards her, allowing for peaceful negotiation, provided the target doesn’t simply try to escape (a non-hostile action in and of itself)
Yamato and Carrot didn’t join the crew by the end of Wano, but they were popular choices, so just for fun, I’ll do them too:
Yamato, Untamed - similar to Unhuman, negates Yamato’s civility and turns him feral, giving him a wolf-like appearance; this also makes him immune to Rules that would be used to control him in some way, as he cannot be tamed. Yamato also wields Ice Age, an ice-manipulating Artifact
Carrot, Unfallen - negates the effects of gravity on Carrot, allowing her to jump high into the air and float. She wields Lightning Returns, an electricity-manipulating Artifact
Aaaand since I’m predictable: Monet, Unheated - similar to Unburn, but negates heat instead of flame. Monet uses this to create ice and snow. She is also equipped with the wing Artifact, Kid Icarus, allowing her to fly
