Marshall watched the tv with a glazed expression on his face. This celebrity gossip sh*t was the last thing he wanted to watch.

Unluckily for him, nothing else was on...

He narrowed his eyes slightly in recognition at what he thought was a familiar face on the TV. It was that girl from that movie Kim was so obsessed with. He called over his shoulder to get her attention.

"Ay, Kim! Looks like that Asian girl you like so much is marrying the pretty boy."

Kim poked her head out from the other room, and immediately came over to look at the screen.

"Holy sh*t, really?!

"Yeah. Look for yourself."

The Morning After The Party

Jang-Mi felt sick to her stomach as she stared at the toilet bowl.

And it wasn't just because of all the celebratory drinking she had (un)willingly joined in on.

She'd spent the past hour dumping the contents of her stomach in the toilet bowl, and the putrid smell disgusted her almost as much as her own stupidity in agreeing to the engagement.

She had wanted to refuse. She really did. Although Jang-Mi loved Danny, and was determined to believe he loved her...it had become apparent to her that love wasn't enough to stop him from mistreating her.

Ever since they'd started working on their film he had been... touching her.

And when she moved in... it came to be a lot worse than simply "touching". Her multiple objections never seemed to stop him. Jang-Mi felt so foolish that he thought her intoxication would've stopped him last night.

She'd barely been awake, of course. That didn't mean it didn't hurt her.

Jang-Mi inhaled deeply through her nose, and forced a smile, wiping her tears as she got up off the bathroom floor. She tried to remind her self of the words her grandmother had been telling her all her life.

"큰 여자들은 울지 않습니다."

Jang-Mi hardly felt like a big girl right now, but she was eighteen and that had to mean something....

Right?

She pushed away her doubts and closed the bathroom door behind her, hoping to leave the negative thoughts behind her. She had to remember that no matter what he did, Daniel loved her. And that was all that mattered.

A/N

Ik this chapter was kinda fillery. But i think it's important for me to set up some background for the character before i get into the real "meat" of the story. I plan to have her meet Em in either 1999 or 2002. Anyway, hope you enjoyed that. i'm not sure when i'll get the next chapter out, because i'll be quite busy soon, and their are still quite a few details of the story that need to be worked out.

First oc of the day is for @writeroffanfiction

They wanted something more exotic, soooo... We have a lynx in a box.

Mama cat Ashes found him when he was just a kit, sleeping in the favorite box of hers.

He was so little... The sounds were so small and weak... She couldn't resist and took the kit in. As the time passed, she thought him the art of survival on the streeets. To her, he was just a normal kitten....

That's when he grew... He grew so rapidly. But, the change wasn't evident till now. As she looks at her kitten that can just fit in the tiny box, she can barelly comprehend the fact he is grown. Look at him...

Though... How? How is he so large? She is a maine coon, for godness sake. How can a cat that looked like a smaller mix, be so much bigger then her.... Well, she guesses she can ignore the problem. He is safe and sound, and that's all that mathers to her. :)

I just figured out what it is about Ghost Wax that gets me every time because I read and listen to a lot of horror but Ghost Wax is scary every fuckin time, even on relistens I get freaked out

They aren't stupid

These aren't people treading disrespectfully into realms they dont belong in or ignoring their own good sense to chase curiosity or revenge or power

When they do make direct choices that lead to their deaths its usually because they need something

I was thinking about it while Marcus Hanesley was talking in Midnight Snacks because he fucking stopped

He stopped delivering when it really did get too weird

But he needed the money and he sold his life for a thousand dollars

And Charlie or CC, she deleted the dating app when it seemed sketch

Liam Mathers was wrong about Jinx obviously because Jinx is a very good boy but in fairness that cat was being very creepy and he locked that weird talking cat far away from him when he thought Jinx was dangerous

Zane in disintegrate knew right away that he needed to Leave town or something because that wall was going to kill him

They aren't assholes who think they're tough and intentionally egg on the supernatural

They're people making decisions that you understand and that's So Much Scarier

Butch the Alley Cat

A mischievous alley cat, Butch has frequently run afoul of Tom and Jerry. Sometimes he teams up with Tom in a joint effort to get their hands on Jerry, but more often than not, Butch is a rival who is a great deal more ruthless in his efforts to get his way.

A tough guy, womanizer and would be gangster, Butch is never far from trouble. Indeed there have been a few occasions where constant rivals, Tom and Jerry, have pooled their resources and worked together in order to thwart whatever harebrained scheme Butch has cooked up.

William Hanna, Jack Mather and a number of other voice actors have provided the dialogue and sound effects for Butch. The caddish cat first appeared in the 1941 animated short film, The Alley Cat.

Well, there’s been a long time huh? But you gotta do what you gotta do, so I will be reviewing today Miraculous Season 5 Episode Multiplication, Let’s get this over with

We start the episode with monarch monologuing to the city AGAIN that he got the miraculous, that he is God now, and that he will not stop until get ladybug and chat noir’s Miraculous

Writers, Astruc, we already know he got the jewels, you made a WHOLE EPISODE JUST ABOUT GETTING ONE OF THEM BACK, YOU DON’T NEED TO REPEAT YOURSELF

We cut to a reporter that isn’t Nadja, but at the same time I still don’t care about her, questioning to herself how monarch got the jewels, and ladybug tells chat that she thought Felix was actually Adrien, and then….

SUHAN! YEY FINALLY, PLS TELL HER HOW AN IDIOT SHE WAS PLSSSSSSSSSSSS

Ladybub: But I did protect the miraculous

Su-Han: then explain how they are no longer in your possession, the 15 are remain in the box including the rabbit!

YESSSSSS SAY WHAT THE FANDOM THINKS, SU-HIN

Ladybug: instead of blaming us why don’t instead you trust us for once

Su-Han: your right ladybug, I should have helped you, instead I let myself get distracted by the modern world

…………what can I say about this scene, there’s so much things wrong with it

First of all, he already trusted you before, in the end of “Ephemeral” su-han trusted that it didn’t Mather that you didn’t know each other’s Identify, going against what he believed, and he trusted you the miracle box AND with the ladybug and black cat miraculous, the most powerful ones, he could have just take them away, But he trusted you, SO DON’T YOU DARE TO SAY HE NEVER TRUSTED YOU

Second, that’s the justification for Su-Han have disappeared? The modern world? Really? They are really going with it?

Third, Su-Han blaming himself it’s just so, like yeah he did make mistakes, like not training them, not calling for backup earlier to help defeat shadow moth, BUT MOST OF THE BLAME SHOULD GO TO THE TWO IDIOTS, IF YOU KNEW ANYONE COULD TAKE THE MIRACULOUS FROM YOUR YOYO, WHY DIDN’T PUT A SECURITY SISTEM??? YOU CAN DO THIS SORTA SHIT,

Forth: SU-HAN WOULD NEVER SAY THIS, HE IS SO OFF OF CHARACTER, HE WOULD HAVE CURSED UP EVEN HER PREVIOUS PARENTS IF SHE LOST ONLY ONE MIRACULOUS, IMAGINE THE WHOLE BOX THAT HAVE A MIRACULOUS THAT CAN GO BACK IN TIME

Su-Han, what did the writers did to you? They made you a Chloe, a character with so much potential, that could do so good to the show, but they just... put you away and made you a plot device, this episode officially made Su-Han a Chloe, and I am so sad, he could have trained them, he could have shown us the origins of the miraculous, instead we got… this

They eat the space upgrade powering up to, to? Man, I forgot their names, to… Aught I can’t remember, it was Cosmo bug and…. Star chat? I think that’s it. Sorry is just so hard to remember the name of characters that barely appeared

They upgrade and go search for Felix on his house, but find nothing then they go back home

Marinette goes to her room, and I really like this scene, Marinette comes home broken, knowing that all the kwamis were on monarch’s hands because of her, not knowing what he could do with them, he has a memory of the kwamis playing on her room, she take the box that she used to hide the miracles box, knowing that is over, she sits down lives a look to Tikki, trying to contain her tears, she smiles, and not knowing what to do anymore, she take her phone and call Alya and askes for her to go see her, this scene is so deep, and finally makes Marinette look good after doing a lot of bullshit, because she regrets not being able to protect them, she looks like. Dare I say, a Human being, maybe is just dramatic side speaking but, I love this scene, the purple light just gives more of the feeling to the viewer and the background music is perfect, I love it

While this happen Adrien also comes home, angry about what Felix did, and randomly comes to his mind to talk to his father about no being a model anymore, look I like character grow but, ISN’T THERE MORE IMPORTANT THINGS GOING ON ADRIEN? IT’S NOT EVEN PASSED ONE DAY SINCE IT HAPPENED... COULD YOU AT LEAST DO THIS TOMORROW?

Adrien: Father, I have something important to tell you, But I don’t know how…

Gabriel: get to the point Adrien, you see I’m busy

Adrien: I Don’t want to be a model anymore!

Gabriel: fine, if that’s what you want, is there something else?

Adrien leaves cutely*

Wow, was it that easy? No, I would understand if this is like a that thing “son is afraid of father but the father is a nice dude) but Gabriel Isn’t like that, and you’ve put so much suspense on this, to THAT be the resolution? Or why didn’t Gabriel tried to control Adrien with the ring so that he wouldn’t stop being a model? Who knows who cares

Marinette cries to Alya, saying how much of an idiot she is, and Alya assures her it wasn’t her fault, which is true Marinette was an idiot? Was, but it wasn’t all her fault, it was Felix, Alya is not saying “everything is going to get better” or “you aren’t a idiot” she is comforting her best friend, and saying that there’s no way she could have knew, like a god friend would do, so I am going to give you a point Alya, conglatulations

Mari: as long as I am fighting against monarch, I can’t be distracted by my love for Adrien, I don’t deserve him anyways, I can’t afford to make any more mistakes

Alya: hello, may I remind you, you tried to not be in love with him before?

Marinette: this time thought I’ll do whatever it takes! The safety of Paris is what matters! I have to be the guardian of the miraculous before anything else!

Adrien starts calling*

Alya: well, well well, a boy you don’t love is calling, are you going to pick up?

Marinette: no no no I don’t know him and I don’t pick up calls from strangers

Alya answers the phone*

Alya: Marinette du-pain Cheng assistance’s, who is this?

Marinette: tell him I’m not here

Alya: Marinette is telling me to tell she isn’t here, which is frankly embarrassing

Adrien tells them he isn’t a model anymore and Marinette says that it is wonderful

Really when Adrien isn’t around, I think Marinette is really sympathetic, but is just her “PrInCe” show up and she became a freak, well there’s a lot of moments that Marinette becomes unlikable even without Adrien’s help, but with Adrien these moments increase, like a lot

Adrien flirts with Marinette, Marinette struggling to talk like a normal being because the show doesn’t know any other time of joke to do with her, Adrien flirts with Marinette, Bla bla bla

Alya: that’s it THAT’S IT, YOU TWO ARE FINALLY GOING TO FALL IN LOVE

SHUT UP ALYA

The next day, Alix’s dad (that I forgot the name) tells everyone that Alix is Bunnyx, why keep secret identities huh? Monarch can’t get her anyways, also isn’t there a tutelary council in Paris? I am not an expert but let your daughter don’t go to school and get in danger traveling from time is illegal, she should be on a orphanage or with some uncle, well they can’t get soooooooooooooooooooooo

The students talk about how they can help Ladybub and Chat Noar even without powers,

And start a montage, the heroes patrolling, Adrien tries to kiss Marinette, Mylene with her yoga classes, Alya sister training, heroes just chilling, Adrien tries to kiss Marinette again, and Alya tries to force Marinette to kiss him, what a good friend! Adrien and Lila scan themselves so they don’t need to model anymore

Yeah, Gabriel hasn’t akumatized anyone for the past weeks, one more for Gabriel is incompetent villain compilation, so everyone is just chilling, the heroes even got some uno, AND ADRIEN TRIES TO KISS MARINETTE FOR THE THIRD TIME, THIS IS ALREADY SEXUAL HARRASEMENT, but a villain shows up after weeks, Ikari Gozen

The heroes transform and go fight the we-are-out-of-money-can’t-make-new-designs villain, now with an upgrade, she can multiply herself just like the mouse miraculous,

Not knowing what to do, ladybug activates her lucky charm getting a fishing rod,

They make on of the copies to trap her sword in a building with the fishing rod line and break the sword, if Ikari Gozen has the multiplication power, why didn’t she just multiply to something smaller to free herself, Miraculous logic? Because there’s only 4 minutes left? Only the writers know, but M.s tsurugi isn’t with the miraculous, so they just give a magical charm and leave,

Then play an ad of a “alliance” that is basically a portable Alexa, and we get Gabriel’s new design,

It’s just a cheap copy of Richard Sphinx, but worst, because its Gabriel, at least his hair is better than Gabriel original hair, but that doesn’t mean its good, I will give this a 6/10 better than a lot of season 5 designs,

So that’s how the episode ends

Hmm this episode is harder to give a score, unlike evolution it isn’t just bullshit

There are scenes I like, there are scenes I hate, but let’s see

The timing incredibly its not that bad, there’s a lot going on but is not rushed, exempt the akuma fight that was very rushed, I like how Marinette felt like a human and how she wants to became responsible (let’s see how much this will last) I liked the alliance ad, I like that they defeated the akuma as a team not ladybug doing all the work while chat is just on his couch, I like how the heroes got an uno, how ladybug is TRYING to be good hero AND bette person,

But this is miraculous, this isn’t just flowers, Alya is a bitch change your mind, Adrien is a sexual harasser, this episode pulls out of NOWHERE that Ms. Tsurugi and Gabriel are working together as villains, the secret identity rule gets kinda snap, a lot of times the characters just feel so off, like they are not themselves, the fight in a cartoon of ACTION doesn’t last like 5 minutes, Su-Han became a Chloe, people don’t use their brains, and Alya is a bitch, that’s all I have to say, I will give this episode a 5/10 a lot of bullshit, but it's an ok episode

BEN PLATT - "ANDREW"

Jeffrey Brister: Platt’s an incredibly talented vocalist, there’s no doubt there, and a good performance can do a lot to elevate average material -- like, say, a pleasant but unremarkable folky song about being sad and gay. His delicate falsetto dancing over top of the guitar, how the chorus blooms with yearning in a name, staying away from theatre kid pyrotechnics -- it’s a laundry list of good choices, and I’m just bowled over by its simple and straightforward beauty and earnestness. [8]

Alfred Soto: Depending on my diet that day I can embrace this unmitigated schmaltz or vomit at the sight of it. Neither the falsetto nor the lyrics have heard of subtlety. I am past the age when unrequited lust wears the drag of lachrymosity, but I hope I'm not callous enough to understand when young adults need it. [6]

Hannah Jocelyn: A friend and I made a list of songs about unrequited queer love, specifically when it comes to incompatible orientations. This is Ben Platt’s entry in the canon, and it’s the best song I’ve heard from him, the first that doesn't sound like rejected tracks from either Dear Evan Hansen or Blue Neighborhood -- it starts off very Simon & Garfunkel, but the more ambient Sufjan Stevens territory on the chorus fits him shockingly well. One problem: the Melodyne detracts from how sincere and pure the writing is (isn't Dave Cobb known for his authenticity?), to the point where Platt sings "if I can't get closer then I am destroyed" and sounds like a Dalek. Normally that would be a dealbreaker, and maybe I would dismiss this if I hadn't, in fact, had an Andrew or five. Cobb's production is gentle and tender enough that I can just lie back and think of all the pretty girls. [7]

Isabel Cole: I do appreciate the concept of this aching little ditty about the specific wrenching futility of crushing on a straight guy, and the idea of “wasting heartbreak” on someone who would never even be able to grant you the dignity of being rejected for your actual self is poignant. I can imagine the teen for whom this hits at exactly the right time, and that’s not nothing. But the first-love adolescent yearning of the lyrics fits oddly with the meandering melody and the folky arrangement (it’s giving Harry Styles Presents VH1’s I Love The 60s), and Platt… listen, whatever you think of Dear Evan Hansen, no one’s ever denied that the guy can sing. Here, it’s hard to shake the sense that he’s deliberately trying to differentiate his solo work from his Broadway past by avoiding sounding too musical theater, choosing instead to flatten his clear, resonant tone into a dull, nasal drone that feels like he’s playing Barefoot Guy With Guitar in a mockumentary about hippies. It doesn’t really work -- his falsetto sounds grating, and like a lot of stage singers trying to branch out, there’s a certain mannered quality he can’t quite shake -- and the few more vibrant lines towards the end make me wish I could hear a version of this aiming for the cheap seats. [4]

Ian Mathers: As someone who has disliked Ben Platt in everything I've seen or heard him in, I was absolutely prepared to reject this song from its Cat Stevens-ass opening, but then I kept listening and... I don't know, I keep thinking about that classic tumblr post that ends with "I am cringe, but I am free." I listened a few more times and... it's kind of lovely? Something about it reminds me of Gordon Lightfoot? I remember how much songs that seemed to speak to my particular romantic torments meant to me as a teen and I can absolutely imagine the kid who is going to play this on a loop like I did Sloan's "Deeper Than Beauty" or whatever? Don't make me regret this, Platt. [8]

Nortey Dowuona: The frustrating parts of this song have nothing to do with Ben Platt's voice. Whatever his faults in Dear Evan Hansen, Ben has a mellifluous tenor that comfortably floats in the higher parts of his range, allowing certain lines that feel clunky ("what a time-wastin', sweet happiness-takin', self-esteem, mess-making, heart-breakin' shame") to float past so pleasantly that when your own voice begins to sing them, they jumble together in your throat until they all flow out with the delivery of "Andrew." Producer Dave Cobb's helium guitar chords are also not the problem -- they lift Platt's voice and remain so close to it that when they lean back and let him take center stage, they allow Platt to send his melody up and catch it comfortably. The frustrating thing is the drums; they are so thin and yet so rigid that when they enter, the song loses the butterfly subtlety it needed to soar. Derrek Phillips, who has played with Vanessa Williams and Rahsaan Barber, somehow had to anchor the song in a way that would give it heft and keep its light, breezy charm, but instead he reinforces the dull structure of a second-verse drum groove, and all the hard work done by Platt and Alex Hope is squandered. A bolder choice by Platt or Cobb would've been to lean into the acoustic guitar arrangement by adding the bass and keyboards, and maybe the percussion (also done by Phillips) would act as the anchoring factor. Instead, the rigid structure kills probably the second-best thing Ben Platt has done. [7]

Jackie Powell: Ben Platt has had difficulty translating his vocal talents from film soundtrack music (the Pitch Perfect trilogy) and show tunes (The Book of Mormon and Dear Evan Hansen) into pop music. On songs like “Grow as We Go” and “Rain,” he sounded like slightly more adult versions of the characters he played. He’s leaned into motivational songs without any sort of foundation. “Andrew” works better than his previous pop offerings because of the story he paints of falling for a straight (or maybe not) friend who has led him on. A lot of these stories are coming out of the woodwork as of late with tracks such as Reneé Rapp’s “Pretty Girls” and Fletcher’s “Two Things Can Be True." These stories need to be told and provide a certain type of respite for queer people who too have felt a similar level of pain. Platt calls the situation a “cruel joke” and self-deprecates in a witty but incredibly depressing bridge. He’s not questioning whether falling for “Andrew” wastes his time but rather declares the infatuation as a time vampire that robs more than it gives. What’s less than desired, however, is the Simon & Garfunkel cosplay he attempts in the verses. The Auto-Tune that helps layer his vocals isn’t needed. The folksiness in “Andrew” is a step in the right direction for Platt in his journey to translating better into pop. I just wish he could have paid homage to Simon & Garfunkel in a way that didn’t come across as just another Broadway character he’s playing. [7]

Taylor Alatorre: I feel the exact same way listening to this as I do when reading the Urban Dictionary definition of any relatively common male first name. [3]

Katherine St. Asaph: What is it about guys named Andrew that inspires plaintive folk songs? Having no longings for any Andrews, I can only connect to these songs through my nostalgia, and thus Platt's is my favorite because it navigates those channels best -- which is to say it sounds exactly like Simon & Garfunkel. [6]

Mark Sinker: Not sure I remember a song where the jump from chest voice to head voice for the high notes feels so extremely foregrounded as a DECISION NOW BEING TAKEN. AND IT'S DONE! I can imagine arrangement where this works with the content: except here’s it’s like literally everything else about the song is funneling your attention to this choice instead, and I don’t think it’s what I’m meant to be thinking about? You have a nice voice mate, sorry your crush didn’t work out, that sucks. [5]

Jacob Sujin Kuppermann: Every time I've tried to write this blurb it's come out too ironic -- couching my appreciation for it in my disbelief that Dear himself could make such a perfect rendering of the version of Sufjan Stevens' music that exists only in the minds of 2014 Tumblr users, things of that nature. But let me meet sincerity with sincerity and say that "Andrew" wrecks my shit completely every time I listen to it, every achingly beautiful guitar arpeggio and breathy note from Platt activating all of my sentimental impulses. Most of all I admire the commitment here -- there's never a moment of performance from Platt or his producers that shies away from the full teenage gay melodrama of the lyrics. Weaker souls would have tried to subvert the maudlin stuff here. I'm glad they didn't. [9]

photography book — all of his old photos collecting dust, many portray his family home in a demure state, melancholic, lavish, yet soulless. one sees his father across a long, oak dinner table, looking away from the lens. the rest of the chairs sit empty. an old camera — the cheapest one he owns. it is smashed beyond recognition. but he doesn’t seem to want to let go of it. random assortments of notes — one seems to be a ton of drama notes, as well as quick sketches of the cast & their costumes, another shows their family cat ( nibbles. ) crudely drawn beside a bunch of unintelligible & crossed out writing, another seems to be a note to his father. most of it is unreadable - except for “this town would be better without you” & “i’ll be dead soon”. the rest of the drawer is filled with discarded bottles of dieting pills, small liquor bottles & various junk wrappers.

a generic collection of 2010’s rock at first glance, as well as some classics like ac/dc & black sabbath. you scan through & find various more unusual cds : slipknot - iowa, korn - life is peachy, eminem - marshall mathers lp, mcr - three cheers, bmth - suicide season, nin - the downward spiral, radiohead - in rainbows, pulp - this is hardcore, tyler the creator - goblin, garbage - self titled… is that an avril lavigne cd ? lets keep that a secret.

About Me: Favorite Albums

Music isn't something I talk much about here on my blog, mostly because I don't feel like I'm qualified enough to talk about these sorts of things. I know movies like the back of my hand, but I'm definitely not smart enough to dissect what makes music good beyond "I like how it sounds."

But hey, I'm trying to help you get to know me, so here are thirty albums I like the sound of from a variety of artists. My big rule is I have to like at least five songs on any given album for it to qualify. I've listed my top three from each here, so the other two I'll leave to your imaginations (except for my #1 favorite, for which you'll get all of my top 5).

Honorable mentions: Pinkerton - Weezer, Under the Covers, Vol. II - Ninja Sex Party, Montero - Lil Nas X, Poodle Hat - Weird Al, Bad Hair Day - Weird Al, Master of Puppets - Metallica, License to Ill - Beastie Boys, Thriller - Michael Jackson, Purple Rain - Prince, Teenage Dream - Katy Perry, and the so bad it’s good masterpiece Angelic 2 the Core - Corey Feldman. I also didn't include the soundtracks to stage musicals, but the 90s version of Cats and the 80s version of Starlight Express are also some of my favorites.

30. The Hazards of Love - The Decemberists

A tale of a tragic romance told in the form of a concept album, this would almost certainly make the list even if it didn't have some of the best villain songs I've ever heard.

Even if it was just the semi-title track that I loved, this album would probably make the list. It's prog rock perfection.

The Bee Gees obviously are the stars of the show on this soundtrack album, but it also has one of my favorite things: Disco remixes of classical music.

26. The Marshal Mathers LP 2 - Eminem

While the original album is a classic in its own right and nothing on this one is as immediately iconic as "The Real Slim Shady" or "Stan," I do think that this older, more mature Eminem reflecting back on his career and flexing his skills is overall the better package. This was a real comeback for him, after multiple less-than-impressive comebacks, and it is glorious.

25. McCartney II - Paul McCartney

This is what happens when you let a beloved rock star get really weird. It’s so experimental and quirky; only a Beatle could get this bizarre.

24. Painkiller - Judas Priest

One of those rare times where the songs on a metal album are actually, genuinely as fucking awesome as the album cover art.

23. Songs for the Deaf - Queens of the Stone Age

With the assistance of Dave Grohl, Queens of the Stone Age really put their best foot forward for their breakout album. As hard as most of the tracks go, my absolute favorite is the eerier, slower hidden track about cannibalism.

22. Crash Twinsanity - Spiralmouth

The day I found out this entire soundtrack was a capella, my mind was blown. You mean to tell me this whole album is just mouth noises? It really does have the Crash vibe down.

21. Awesome Mix Vol. 2 - Various Artists

Every Guardians movie soundtrack is great, but out of the three it’s the second movie’s soundtrack that reigns supreme. It kicks off with ELO, scores the climactic final battle with Fleetwood Mac, and features a groovy disco remix of the Guardians theme music with vocals provided by David Hasselhoff over the credits. It’s all killer, no filler.

20. Mouth Dreams - Neil Cicierega

The way the songs flow into each other, the subtle jokes scattered throughout… Really, the only thing holding this back is some songs are just a bit too weak to justify bumping it above its predecessor.

19. Mouth Moods - Neil Cicierega

From fantastic mashups that combine a dozen songs into one coherent whole to remixes that alter a single song and completely warp the premise to the point of absurdity, this is absolutely the highest point of the Mouth series.

18. Ten - Pearl Jam

Homelessness. Suicide. Incest. Murder. This might be one of the single darkest albums of the grunge era, and it firmly cemented Pearl Jam as a force to be reckoned with. Eddie Vedder’s unique vocals really are what makes these songs stand out from the crowd.

17. The Symbol Remains - Blue Öyster Cult

You wouldn’t think a 70s rock band that loves singing about weird occult stuff could drop anything good five decades into their career, but BOC ain’t any old rock band. Only they could take a silly, memetic concept like the stereotypical “Florida Man” and turn it into a song that has enough weird and mystic vibes that it can easily sit alongside songs about aliens, eldritch horrors, vampires, and zombie Joan Crawford in their discography.

16. Impera - Ghost

One of Ghost's most solid albums to date. It has a few low points ("Twenties") but the highs are so high they easily eclipse those few lesser tracks.

15. The Presidents of the United States of America – The Presidents of the United States of America

I have very fond memories of listening to this in the car growing up. It’s such a charming piece of 90s rock, with the band foretelling their ultimate fate with the track “We Are Not Going To Make It.” Oh well, they manage to make it onto this list at least.

14. Born This Way – Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga has fallen from the lofty heights she once stood upon, not quite being as massive as her heyday... But with an album that gets you this high, there's really nowhere to go but down. This album has a song for everyone, and for someone with taste as weird as my own, it had a load of great tracks.

13. In Utero - Nirvana

You can definitely tell that Nevermind was a more polished, commercial album when you listen to this one. The songs here are so much more raw than on their more famous album, with so much more bite to them. It can be a bit off-putting for sure, but this is definitely the short-lived band's best work (if not my favorite).

12. Undertale Soundtrack – Toby Fox

Easily my favorite instrumental soundtrack of all time—and considering all the fantastic game soundtracks I’ve heard in my time, this is saying something. Every single track is a fantastic and fitting tune for wherever they’re used in-game, and even if my favorite track is the obvious pick, even I’ll admit that it’s not the best one (that would probably be #2).

11. Metal Gear Rising Soundtrack – Various artists

A game as insane and metal as Rising needs a soundtrack to match, and to say this one delivered is an understatement. Every song is one of the most badass things you will ever hear, with a good chunk of them elaborating on the motivations and personalities of the bosses. It says a lot that the weakest song is Blade Wolf's, and even that's just "okay" as opposed to "awful."

10. Seven Inches of Satanic Panic - Ghost

I don’t think this is better than their full albums, but I definitely think this is one of the best musical one-two punches I’ve ever heard. “Mary on a Cross” and “Kiss the Go-Goat” are two of Ghost’s finest songs, and this is where they came from

9. I Get Wet – Andrew W.K.

In the proud tradition of AC/DC, pretty much every song on this album sounds the same—and none of the songs rock any less for it. It’s a collection of awesomely stupid anthems about partying, hot girls, and NYC that goes harder than it has any need to.

8. Running With Scissors – Weird Al

This was a big turning point in Al’s career—it’s when he debuted his new look, sans glasses and with his hair grown out—and for me at least it’s the album where I feel like he put all the lessons he learned over the 90s to good use. It’s true that there’s a few lines that haven’t aged well but the overall package is strong enough that it overshadows the blemishes. It has his strongest “movie recap” parody song, his best polka medley, and his funniest and most iconic epic-length song; how can it not make my top ten?

7. Doolittle - Pixies

It’s genuinely tough picking between this and Surfer Rosa, but when it comes right down to it Doolittle is the one that has more tracks I like. I don’t think anything here is quite as good as “Where is My Mind?” from the latter album, but that album doesn’t have “Mr. Grieves” on it.

6. Invisible Touch - Genesis

I think Invisible Touch is Genesis’s undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums. Listen to the brilliant ensemble playing of Banks, Collins and Rutherford. You can practically hear every nuance of every instrument. In terms of lyrical craftsmanship, the sheer songwriting, this album hits a new peak of professionalism. Take the lyrics to “Land of Confusion.” In this song, Phil Collins addresses the problems of abusive political authority. “In Too Deep” is the most moving pop song of the 1980s, about monogamy and commitment. The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as anything I’ve heard in rock.

5. Mandatory Fun – Weird Al

As of 2023 this is Al’s last album, and if he never makes another it’s hard to argue that he didn’t go out on top. The style parodies are some of his best ever, the polka medley is fantastic, and the parodies here are all leagues better than the songs they’re spoofing. “Foil” in particular is worth singling g out for being a hilarious subversion of the stereotypical food-related parodies Al was known for back in the day.

4. ABBA Gold - ABBA

Is it cheating to put a greatest hits compilation on this list? Well, since it's my list, the answer is no! An album like this is all bangers, no filler, every song I love in one place one after the other. The omission of “Tiger” is the only flaw.

3. Nevermind - Nirvana

It's pretty inarguable that this is a more polished and commercial grunge album than In Utero, but no matter what Kurt or the other band members say this is still one of the best albums ever made. My only gripe with it is that the song that gets the most attention, "Smells Like Teen Spirit," overshadows a lot of songs better than it. "In Bloom" is the best track in my opinion, with its lyrics abut fans with zero media literacy still very relevant even to this day.

2. The Number of the Beast – Iron Maiden

From the band with the greatest album covers of all time comes a metal album featuring the hard rock version of "Roxanne," an epic seven minute track, and the greatest song condemning the actions of colonizers. Oh, and the title track is pretty awesome too. Considering how lukewarm the first two albums are, this might be one of the greatest glow ups in metal history, going from a decent but not spectacular act to one of the greatest bands of all time.

1. Spirit Phone – Lemon Demon

Maybe I'm just a basic bitch for calling this my favorite album ever, but the fact of the matter is that this whole album is basically tailor made for my interests. Songs about conspiracy theories? Songs about urban legends like Gef and Polybius? Songs that make fun of Reaganomics? I genuinely could not imagine a better set of songs than this if I tried.

Firstly, really sad that you had a bad week and am writing, so hopefully it improves

Representation in ADOW

Overall representation is decent, in my opinion. All the characters of colour have their own unique personalities, and identities, which I love. This is in both the book

But, let's get down to the nitty and gritty. Note: this is longer than I thought it would be lol but I hope you appreciate my thoughts.

Miriam's arc as being Matthew's protector has always irked me. I know that Bertrand asked her to, but I don't know why it's her responsibility to stop Matthew, a whole grown man, from making bad decisions. He got her husband killed because of his bad decisions. Also, in the books, Diana is straight-up disrespectful, as I explain in this post. As if Miriam isn't risking her life helping her. It's almost that trope of a brown female character being presented negatively in order to lift her white counterpart.

Emily Mather deserved to live. She was a badass witch, which I love, but something unsettling about her being sacrificed for the Bishops. But also, I want a whole book on her and Sarah. I want to know about her family's history because black witches in the USA and also, their descendant is a black gay woman who lives with her gay wife and rude cat, chilling.

Fernando. Sweet, Sweet Fernando makes very little sense to me. I get he has a kind and good nature, but he spends way too much time with the de Clermonts, helping clean up their mess. Let's not forget Philippe racistly didn't like him. I like to think that it's because he loves Gallowglass, his son, which he obviously does. But yeah.

Phoebe is such a cool character, as the first human, we see her interact with the de Clermonts. Not scared of any of those weirdos. I think I have said this before, but I don't like in the book, that her mother Padma, is given little to no identity but the agreeable wife. Like, I would have loved to see that scene where Padma and Phoebe talk about her marrying Marcus because her mother is an immigrant who moved to marry Edward. Also, I would have loved to know more about her heritage in the books, especially as Miriam makes a point to give her a non-western middle name because this girl is mixed race. The show does this slightly better, but I would have liked to see more development.

Nate and Agatha - a lovely mother and son duo and the show did they so much better than the book. Nate is such a good diversion from the many stereotypes of young black men in British TV - he is actively shown to be an emotional person, cares about everyone, very involved as a husband and father. Also, the way he supports Sophie, they were adorable in their little moments. Agatha is also brilliant, I love seeing her.

Chris is such a cool character because he straight up reminds Matthew that he has lived as a white man for the past 1500 years, so he has very little idea of the cruelty humans are capable of. Matthew was chilling with slave owners back in the day and has the audacity to yell at a brother from Alabama?? Lights him up in a few sentences. No notes and we love to see it.

Juliette deserved better than being manipulated and abused by a gross white man for another white man who just leaves her after using her to help him kill a group of black and brown people in NO (which always irked me because Matthew knows what it is to be manipulated by his father) then gets murdered brutally by his white girlfriend. Free my girl. In my mind, she ran away, living peacefully
