2 and 16! :]
2. top 5 books of all time?
Oof this is difficult--I'm going to do standalones instead of series to simplify it a little. In no particular order: Kitchen by Banana Yoshimoto, The Bone Houses by Emily Lloyd Jones, They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera, The Martian by Andy Weir, Pan's Labyrinth by Guillermo del Toro and Cornelia Funke.
(obligatory disclaimer that at any given point in time I've forgotten the majority of the books I've read, so it's entirely possible I'll post this and then go augh!! how could I have forgotten so and so book it rewrote my brain chemistry)
16. how many books have you read this year?
I'm at 31 so far, a bit of a slow year because at the beginning of 2023 I was still working through the books my teacher had lent me and trying to prioritize them, but they're different enough from my normal books that they took more effort to get through and put me in a bit of a slump (I only read 2 books in february). But hopefully now that it's summer and I'm reading my own books again I'll catch up :)
i very much enjoyed being lent books but fact of the matter is they're harder to read sometimes

2-In-One Tag Game 🙃
So I got tagged for two different games. @writingpotato07 tagged me for Last Line, and @the-stray-storyteller tagged me for Heads Up Seven Up. Which made me squeal with joy, but also I'm kinda unsure what to do since these games cover pretty much the same ground. I've technically got two WIPs if we're counting Theodore Diaries (which, as I mentioned before, takes place in the middle of Book 3 from the perspective of a character I haven't introduced yet), but pretty much all my lines in that document are very spoiler heavy. So instead, I'm thinking I'll post my last seven lines from P&K 1 and call it a two-for-one. Unless you all revolt, in which case I'll post both, but don't say I didn't warn you about the spoilers.
Thanks so much for the tag, by the way! The fact that y'all actually wanna see my most recent writing really motivates me to write more stuff (that way I won't just have chapter 4 material to draw from).
Tagging @sunhunger, @bookish-galaxy, @god-of-identity, @graciecreates, @the-child-of-darkness, @unluckybasil, @moonandris, @aye-write. If any of you are interested, take your pick from these two tag games. Better yet, do both! If you don't want to/if you've already been tagged, no pressure! I'm also leaving this as an open tag for anyone else who wants to participate! :D
I'm not exactly sure what a line is in the context of prose, so I'm just gonna post the last seven sentences.
Be warned, this passage is very new, so what you're seeing is basically what my writing looks like unedited. I promise it's better after I've had a couple days to revise.
Ok, no more blabbing. Here we go!
From Pemoki and Kenacia:
“That soon?” Lyn’s eyes widened. “Catherine—” But before he could say anything else, Catherine stood on her toes and kissed him, and again his eyes went dark. "Try not to count the seconds, love," she said. "Just hold me. Relish every moment you've got left with me, and then take comfort in the knowledge that there'll be many, many more when I return."

Snippet Sunday
A snippet from a wip I'm rewriting that started in October technically!
Words: 311
Ashe & Catherine during their Hopes paralogue
Maybe some typos
--------
"So, is it true, Catherine?"
He was unable to stop the words from falling from his lips.
"About you and my brother?"
She looked at him, pity in her eyes. Pity, but also something more. Anger, perhaps? Annoyance? She sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose. "Yes, it's true." She said, painfully. "But are you sure you want to talk about this before your scouting mission?"
He cast his gaze to the grass beneath his feet, trying to swallow the lump in his throat. He took a moment to respond, a moment too long, before raising his head once more. "I wouldn't have asked if I wasn't."
She sighed again, resting her hand on the hilt of her sword. Of Thunderbrand. "In that case, yes. I chose to uphold what I believed in. Which meant that Christoph had to die." Her expression hardened, blonde eyebrows knit together. "If you're unable to forgive me, then I stand ready to accept your challenge."
He watched as her hand tightened around the hilt of Thunderbrand, prepared to unleash it at a moment's notice. The heroes relic that she wielded so effortlessly, cutting through soldiers like a warm knife through dinner butter. It would cleave him off his feet, given the chance, if he really wanted to take her up on challenge.
But he wasn't.
"I have no right to judge you," he said, his voice weak with a hint of a wobble. He gulped down again, but he could feel his throat thicken. "I… also betrayed people I cared about for my belief - and in some cases…. even lead them to their deaths."
So many dead in the war by his hand, directly and indirectly. Directing soldiers to their dooms, leaving them to die, sacrificing them for nothing but a victory that they would never get to see.
For the good of the kingdom.

RWRB Movie: A fucking List of Potential Extra Stuff
I can only pray and hope that Amazon, Matthew, the boys, Casey and whoever needs to be involved do more with the movie after the strike is over, but here’s a list of stuff related to the movie that I want
All the Deleted Scenes: Extended Polo Scene, Extended Paris Café Scene, Extended Paris Love-making Scene, Morning in Paris Scene (I swear I have been feral over it since the bloopers were released), Extended Texas Holiday Montage (I’m not sure about this one but basically the scene in the bloopers where they shove each other), Texas Campfire Scene (That really doesn’t look like it’s just meant to be a montage, it looks like a legit scene), Extended Texas Scene after Lake scene (I’m also not sure about this one because I’ve only seen one person say this exists), Kensington Breakfast Scene, Brownstone thanksgiving scene, Whatever the scenes from Philip, Pez and Zahra’s credits were from, and probably a couple others that we don't even know exist
More Bloopers (there’s gotta be more right? I literally don’t care if it’s like twenty seconds longer GIMME GIMME GIMME)
What was shot before re-shoots (like the piano scene, I’m curious what was shot before and why didn’t it work)
B Roll Footage
Full Footage of certain scenes (ex: The entirety of Henry/Nick singing don’t stop me now)
Audio Commentary: Matthew’s director's commentary, Nick and Taylor’s actor's commentary, Henry and Alex’s in-character commentary
A DVD with all of the above
Full Cast Audiobook
More Interviews and Magazine shoots with the boys together
(Kinda far-fetched but) A Musical Adaptation
A miniseries of post canon Firstprince living their lives (that’s what I want for a sequel, not a plot, just the visual media equivalent of domestic one-shots): Living together, More about Henry’s grief and depression, I can’t tell if Movie Alex has ADHD but maybe more on that, Maybe Princess Catherine coming back and reconciling with Henry (currently writing a fic on it), Maybe? The King reconciling with Henry (wrote a meta on it), Proposal (Casey’s freaking thread reply drove me insane), Marriage, Kids, So like, snippets of the next five years of their lives
(also unpopular opinion but… personally I don’t want Henry to abdicate? It’s an issue I had with the bonus chapter but one of Casey’s IG story wrote about why they wrote it like that, and I realized it might have something to do with me being kind of young and the ideologies that comes with that immaturity. I kinda thought Henry could take a step back without stepping down, like irl Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice who had their own normal jobs and have more of a say in what events to show up to. Idk. I’m a “fix this system” rather than “fuck the system” person, and I think there’s just power in having a gay prince who can keep both his title and his love.)
Yeah I might be delusional but I am also willing to spend money on all of these things so Amazon it’s up to you

Fan snippets of @xysidhequeen AU. Based on the question about Jason's Bio Mom.
Danny worked tirelessly throughout the week, dismantling the GIW's tech piece by piece until it could no longer be used to hurt ghosts. As he worked, his mind kept returning to when he and Jason had visited the cemetery—where Danny noticed an unmarked grave beside Jason's. He knew it was Sheila Todds or Haywoods—the woman who had betrayed her son and caused his death.
Jason had spoken of her with no forgiveness in his voice; she wasn't even acknowledged as being his mother. If they ever found her ghost in the Infinite Realms, she would face trial for her sins, and Danny feared the full extent of his power as High King may be unleashed upon her then. Despite searching both the Ghost Zone and the Underworld, he couldn't find her soul anywheres.
Then, a chance encounter with Catherine Todd—Jason's stepmother—filled him with hope. She told of her deep regret for abandoning Jason while addicted to drugs and thanked Danny for taking care of him in death. Even though their society was well aware that Danny felt romantic love for his Knight, he still hadn't confessed it yet. After a good conversation with Jason's stepmother, Danny decided they weren't ready to reunite just yet; there were still challenges ahead before they could move on to new beginnings: like killing Joker and confronting Batman in order for Jason to find closure.
Till then, the mystery of Sheila Haywoods's whereabouts will be put in back-burner, it will be future Danny's problem not his. Though, blasting of the unmarked grave is tempting but it might cause major zombie outbreak and lower the chances of removing Anti-Ecto laws.

so my loa batkids au has gained a little traction and i’ve hit a bit of a wall when it comes to writing new stuff so here’s an infodump to hopefully kill my writers block xoxoxo
first of all, jason. my forever number one blorbo. there’s a bit of a role reversal here because compared to all the rest of them, jason arguably had it the easiest. like we’re not going to compare traumas but an argument could be made. i honestly don’t remember if i mentioned it at all in the actual series yet, but the story i have for jason is that his childhood with willis and catherine was about the same as canon/commonly accepted fanon, meaning he was homeless around nine years old. however, instead of living on the streets for years, it was only a few months tops before meeting bruce.
and bruce! this is very fun to me, but basically i was thinking that if he didn’t raise dick, then why couldn’t this version of bruce be younger? so bruce becomes batman in his early twenties, which is also around the time that he visits the league of assassins for training and damian is conceived. (for a little more about that, here) and bruce is roughly 25 when he finds a tiny 9-10 year old jason trying to steal his tires. just imagine that it’s so fucking adorable and heartbreaking ANYWAYS bruce, despite being overall a disaster, doesn’t let a malnourished 10 year old out to fight crime right away, so there’s a couple years between when jason first meets bruce and when he becomes a child soldier yayyyy!!!! but legit, it makes a lot of difference to jason, because you know how canon!jason has some self-esteem issues (for lack of a better term) around bruce not really loving him/seeing him as a son because bruce started training him as robin (and as dick’s replacement) immediately after adopting him- you know that whole thing? yeah well here, despite jason actually offering to help bruce as a vigilante, this bruce is like hell nah you’re literally ten years old and the size of a six year old no way, and those few years in between really stick in jason’s mind as solid proof that bruce really does love him, not for what use he can provide, but simply as a son. also being the only child definitely helps with that
(that little detail of jason and bruce’s relationship is slightly inspired by minimum height requirement, which is absolute batfam gold btw)
okay so. slight pet peeve of mine is in aus where dick isn’t the first robin, the legacy is still called robin for whatever reason (lookin at you reverse robins aus) because!!!!! how dare you erase mary and john grayson’s importance!!!!! (look there’s more nuance to it than that i know but. to put it simply it feels like flying graysons erasure to me) so in this au, jason can’t possibly be called robin. the real robin has been missing for roughly seven years at this point
and listen. i tried to be creative and come up with something cool and original for jason’s vigilante name i really did, but apparently i used all of my naming talent on nighthawk (fucking love that name for dick it’s so fantastic) so we just have bluejay. womp womp
also! on my list of things to expand on: main timeline stephanie!!! i’ve had an absolute blast making myself cry while writing every heart sings a song, incomplete and those who wish to sing always find a song, but spoiler steph will always be my babygirl. and duke!!!! i have not written barely anything for duke in this universe but believe me i have some Thoughts. perhaps even Ideas. basically a lot of steph&duke and steph&babs and steph&duke&babs because i love my little underrated trio
also just more babs in general, because like. i’ve had so many tiny little snippets of cass and babs and their sweet little relationship just sitting in my notes for literal years now that i really just need to organize and expand into their own fic. and yet. i have not done that. but rest assured cass&babs are very very important to me
such is the curse of female fanfic writers: always destined to fixate more on the male poor little meow meows than the female bad bitches. seriously what the fuck is up with that guys i don’t get it why does this happen

People often talk about all the projects David and Catherine worked on together.
But how often did they really work together (on stage or in front of a camera)? I'm new to the whole Tatennant thing, and the only projects I'm aware of are Doctor Who and Much Ado About Nothing. 🫣
Hello kind Anon
I hope you are enjoying your time in the Tatennant fandom!
David and Catherine don't get cast together in drama projects outside Doctor Who unless they have a hand in it. Like the Comic Relief sketch, Big Night In, The Ballad of Russell & Julie, Nan's Christmas Carol, or MAAN.
But they've appeared in TV shows like Never Mind the Buzzcocks, Alan Carr: Chatty Man, The Graham Norton Show, and The Jonathan Ross Show to do promotions. They also presented a few radio shows for Jonathan Ross, helping out when he was ill, on one occassion. They used to have the link to listen/download this on david-tennant.com, but they stopped doing this a while ago.
They also both took part in the comedians interview BBC Radio 4 show Chain Reaction. Comedy gold, and always makes me laugh.
More often than not, where one leads, the other follows. This has happened with things like This Is Jinsey, The Friday/Sunday Night Project, Very British Problems, the Nativity films (David was in Nativity 2, and Catherine in Nativity 3) and Duck Tales. They presented the 400 years of Shakespeare programme Shakespeare Live! together in 2016; and last year they presented a BAFTA together.
Of course, there has been the glory that are the Big Finish audio adventures that feature the Doctor and Donna Noble: volumes 1, 3, and Kidnapped. You can find snippets of these on the Big Finish website.
They were scheduled to appear together as a married couple in a comedy called Americons, but the pandemic put paid to that idea. *sigh* Shame.
Hopefully, there are a few things here that you'd like to seek out later.

I think last night when Gary was going in to the house, AJ and the bloke presenting were trying to crack a funny on the "where's kate" nonsense. He was just deflecting was my take when watching it. I still think it was a huge mistake to go in there as they manipulate situations and create arguments, and there is a "social media star" who came out with shit about "I say what I think and sorry not sorry". I have just got a bad feeling he could get set up for a "race row"
Don't care for him so far and wish his sister had knocked this on the head. Whatever happens will rebound on Catherine.
A take on Uncle Gary.
I get a vibe from Uncle Gary that he thinks he's like Mike Tindall, whom a lot of people liked watching on I'm a Celebrity and found his little snippets of the royal family delightful.
I don't think Uncle Gary is going to get what he wants from this whole thing. He's the self-appointed Middleton spokesperson but it's been made painfully clear by Carole, Kate, and Pippa that he doesn't speak for them.

In your taste of medicine AU, how might Edwina find her way back? Her confidence, her self-esteem, her sense of self?
Does she know Anthony is covering her dowry? Did he offer and she refused?
😘
Edwina more than anything needs self-determination - everyone and society is deciding who and what she is, even after all the dust has seemed to settle. Leaving London is not a bad idea, especially not the offer Charlotte presents her with.
Anthony offers but the idea of her former fiancée being the one who a suitor would have to go to? Like just imagine how uncomfortable it is!
And marrying a prince? She's going to need a large dowry and Charlotte would secure an advantageous deal for her former Diamond.
and actually, a little snippet from a very long WIP that may never see the light of day explains a deal in this similar au:
Edwina also reads the marriage contract. She remembered she was not allowed to see hers before. It was far simpler than she presumed. But she was not a great lady, only a tarnished girl. A simple bequeathing of money and land somewhere in Dartmouth. What intrigued her were the gains to her family.
The Sheffields were providing her dowry, which was of great interest. She supposed they could not decline a request from the Crown. But additionally, her mother was to receive her courtesy title again, the one she would have received when married - Lady Mary Catherine Sheffield, Viscountess Pevensy. Even more surprisingly, Kate was to receive an inheritance as well, a substantial sum that seemed to be a belated dowry. Both would be more than provided for, with places firm in society.

Hey, I really enjoy your fleshed out backstories on Darcy's family, and I was wondering if you have any thoughts about their origin and history! (ex: I read a really interesting fic where the "first" English Darcy was some sort of knight who received the land he conquered.) Do you have any thoughts on when the Darcy family became distinguished, their ancestry, etc.? I find the Austen contemporary allusion to the real Fitzwilliam family interesting, and was wondering if you think that family's origins also tie into it? So sorry for the rambly text :)
No problem at all! Sorry it's taken me so long to get to this.
First, thanks—I'm glad the pure/nearly pure headcanons are enjoyable, too. I did write a fic sort of like that, actually, longgggg ago (a brief snippet where the English house was basically founded by a Norman knight). I can see quite a few scenarios, though, within the limits of what we know.
This is going to seem like a bit of a tangent, but the interesting thing about the Darcys to me is that the status and consequence they grant Darcy are so overshadowed by the Fitzwilliams in fandom and academia—I think more than in P&P itself. P&P certainly emphasizes the Fitzwilliams more as characters (I do find them more interesting as a family) and the RL referentiality is much more distinct w/ the Fitzwilliams, so it's understandable, but I don't think they're the primary source of Darcy's pride and status in the novel.
In fact, several of the remarks about Darcy's status occur before anyone knows anything about the Fitzwilliams or his connection to them. This is Charlotte before the Fitzwilliam connection is revealed, for instance:
“One cannot wonder that so very fine a young man, with family, fortune, everything in his favour, should think highly of himself.”
I think sometimes the Darcys' position is regarded as "same as the Bennets' but with more money" (I think mainly as an overly sweeping takeaway from Elizabeth's argument with Lady Catherine), but it's noticeable that Charlotte attributes his status to both his fortune and his family's stature.
Here is Elizabeth at Netherfield (again, before anyone knows about the Fitzwilliam connection):
Elizabeth could not help observing, as she turned over some music-books that lay on the instrument, how frequently Mr Darcy’s eyes were fixed on her. She hardly knew how to suppose that she could be an object of admiration to so great a man
She clearly doesn't mean greatness of character, but his status as Mr Darcy of Pemberley, and she clearly feels a sense of pretty profound social inequality here, to the point that even setting aside the insult, she can't really think he'd even look twice at her. It doesn't make her deferential(lol) or lack self-respect or self-esteem—it's more of a pragmatic sense of the disparity of their positions within their class, fundamentally determined by their fathers' families.
It's Wickham who reveals the Fitzwilliam connection, but Wickham also associates Darcy's pride with the Darcys/Pemberley:
“Yes,” replied Wickham; “his estate there [Derbyshire] is a noble one. A clear ten thousand per annum.”
“Yes; it [pride] has often led him to be liberal and generous; to give his money freely, to display hospitality, to assist his tenants, and relieve the poor. Family pride, and filial pride, for he is very proud of what his father was, have done this. Not to appear to disgrace his family, to degenerate from the popular qualities, or lose the influence of the Pemberley House, is a powerful motive.”
Despite Wickham going on to talk about Lady Catherine and Lady Anne, Pemberley's aristocratic scale and the late Mr Darcy's moral character and the Darcys' popularity and influence are all linked together in his account. Now, this is Wickham, so the degree to which that's true is debatable, but it certainly doesn't contradict the treatment elsewhere.
Interestingly, he also suggests that part of Lady Catherine's status comes from Darcy's and not only the other way around. Lady Catherine would likely disagree, lol, but she does have some respect for the Darcys and de Bourghs:
“They [Darcy and Anne de Bourgh] are descended, on the maternal side, from the same noble line; and, on the father’s, from respectable, honourable, and ancient, though untitled, families. Their fortune on both sides is splendid. They are destined for each other by the voice of every member of their respective houses; and what is to divide them?—the upstart pretensions of a young woman without family, connections, or fortune!”
The lack of title is certainly worth mentioning for her, but the support of the Darcys and de Bourghs matters to her, a contrast to her perception of Elizabeth's family as basically not worth mentioning. She cares about the reputation and age of the Darcy and de Bourgh families as well as the titled status of the Fitzwilliams (and earlier, she attributed Georgiana's status to both sides of her family).
I argued in one of my other posts that there's no particular reason to assume that Lady Anne's marriage to a non-peer was a love match rather than an alliance that suited Fitzwilliam interests, given what we hear about the Darcys and given Lady Catherine's marriage into a very similar family. Both sisters marrying into old money, old-influence families looks to me like the Fitzwilliams were getting something out of it and not only the other way around. And Lady Catherine's respect for the ancientry of the Darcys and de Bourghs and the importance she sees in being backed by them fits pretty well with that to me.
So. My headcanon is that the Darcys are a prominent, powerful family in their own right and the connection to the Fitzwilliams was mutually beneficial. Moreover, I think all indication is that their prominence and influence is very well-established, perhaps longer and more securely than the Fitzwilliams'. Both the Darcys and de Bourghs have French-origin names, so given how similar their backgrounds seem to be, the kind of obvious assumption would be that both originated as Anglo-Norman families.
We don't know that for sure, though—they might not have been particularly significant that far back and risen to power sometime later. Mr Bennet does suggest to Mr Collins that Darcy has more to bestow than Lady Catherine does and Pemberley itself seems to be older, architecturally. Rosings is a modern house given to a certain amount of tasteless splendour and Lady Catherine's husband had the windows installed personally, while Pemberley's features seem to be mainly Elizabethan or Jacobean and are described as more elegant. We also know that Darcy's father owned multiple estates.
So it may be that the Darcys have a bit of an advantage over the de Bourghs in terms of how much influence and consequence they have and how long they've had it (though this is by no means sure). And it is intriguing that the nephew Lady Catherine earmarked for her daughter at birth was untitled Darcy rather than any of the others—I've kind of wondered if there was something other than simple wealth that she wanted for Anne and which none of her other nephews could provide.
This is long and meandering! But anyway, my personal headcanon is that the Darcys have been established in the Pemberley area for a really long time, and were reasonably prosperous and influential in their area from early on, but in a much more local way at first. Over time, they acquired more and more land and influence and status through politics and generally very pragmatic alliances through marriage, and had become fairly wealthy and influential by Elizabeth I's time. I imagine that the Tudor-/early Stuart-era Darcys very carefully navigated the political winds of their times and came out really well, with the resources to either drastically overhaul their manor-house or simply build the Pemberley we see from the ground up.
They were even more cautious wrt the civil war but managed to get through well enough, and have basically been on the way up ever since. They're political allies of their ducal neighbors but I kind of imagine there's a long tradition of finding the Cavendishes deeply annoying and somewhat tacky. At any rate, Mr Darcy's marriage to an earl's daughter was quite satisfactory for the Darcys in general, but not unprecedented, and Lady Anne was generally considered to have married a bit better than Lady Catherine.

I'm going to call it now. Between Stephen Fry's casting, that snippet of dialogue and the fact that Catherine is nowhere to be seen it's pretty clear the movie won't make the king the bad guy. He'll be some kind of regretful patriarch that loves his grandchildren and just needs to be shown the error of his ways. Casey Mcquiston made the queen the bad guy instead of the Firm, or like institutionalized white supremacy, and Greg Berlanti is never going to remotely criticise anyone powerful so he'll do away with that too. This fandom is already full of white liberal bootlickers who think Alex marrying into violent colonialism is a diversity win and is unhappy with the fact that Henry abdicated. Y'all will go the rest of the way and throw all actual colonized people in fandom under the bus for your gay rep because that's the whole white queer brand and Alex is just the personification of the progress flag for you.
I would be extremely happy if this was not the case but going by the suffocating white toxicity of the freaking AO3 tag alone, it's the only conclusion to draw.

Jason Todd Playlist Analysis
PART 13
Seventeen Going Under by Sam Fender
I see this song being about Jason’s childhood, referencing his mother, Catherine, and his father, Willis. He’s struggled for his whole life, from the moment he was born to now, he’s always been “going under”.  The age of seventeen is less literal in this case, I just take it to mean child in general for Jason.
I remember the sickness was forever
I remember snuff videos
Cold Septembers, the distances we covered
The fist fights on the beach, the bizzies round us up
Do it all again next week
An embryonic love
The first time that it scarred
Embarrass yourself for someone
Crying like a child
And the boy who kicked Tom's head in
Still bugs me now
That's the thing, it lingers
And claws you when you're down
Reference to the poverty the Todds experienced, Catherine’s illness, struggling to keep a roof over their heads, the violence Jason witnessed at home and just from growing up in Park Row in general. It’s a constant repetition one week to the next. The rest of this part could just reference snippets of Jason’s early childhood. There’s no escaping poverty, it just keeps pulling you down as soon as you think you’re doing better.
I was far too scared to hit him
But I would hit him in a heartbeat now
That's the thing with anger
It begs to stick around
So it can fleece you of your beauty
And leave you spent with nowt to offer
Makes you hurt the ones who love you
You hurt them like they're nothing
This part makes me think of Willis, taking shady jobs and working for Gotham’s rogues to support his family, but taking out his stress and frustrations on his family. Jason knows that Willis loved them, but there’s no denying that he hurt them. It could reference Catherine as well, with how she came to rely on drugs to deal with her illness, which obviously hurt Jason also. Jason has even less doubt in his mother’s love, but her addiction had a large impact on Jason’s childhood.
See I spent my teens enraged
Spiralin' in silence
And I armed myself with a grin
'Cause I was always the fuckin' joker
A mirrored picture of my old man
I know a lot of people talk about how Jason wasn’t angry, but he was, and that’s okay, it doesn't mean it was the only thing he felt. He had a lot of anger as a teen, and it did slip into his work as Robin. He started to see Willis in himself, and as a teen he was still angry at Willis for how he treated him and Catherine, and for leaving them to survive without him.
She said the debt, the debt, the debt
So I thought about shifting gear
And how she wept and wept and wept
Well, luck came and died 'round here
I see my mother
The DWP see a number
She cries on the floor encumbered
I'm seventeen going under
When Willis was sent to prison, and then killed, Jason and Catherine were left to fend for themselves. As Catherine got sicker, a lot of her care and general responsibilities fell onto Jason. He also started to steal and move drugs to provide for them, which distressed Catherine greatly. The government doesn’t see Catherine as a person, she doesn’t qualify for any help, and the only help Jason can receive takes him away from her. It’s an impossible situation. This goes on until Catherine dies, and then Jason is totally alone.
