extra notes: -gabriel pulled a swap because Emelie was getting increasingly unwell after her pregnancy/birth, so he traded his sickly kid out for a healthy changeling in an attempt to sway her mental health in a positive direction ("look honey your son isn't dying") in the hopes it would make her recovery physically -it didn't work and Felix grew up among weird magical people who made him acutely aware that he wasn't like them -Marinette is not immune to magical charms and magical persuasion but her clumsiness offsets the power they have on her, so as long as she's awkward she's virtually unaffected -once Adrien finds out about Felix he just instantly sees Felix as a brother even tho Felix is actively trying to do him a murder (he will not succeed. victorian ass sickly boy trying to kill a magical being lol lmao even)

I have that book!!!
I am a bit saddened that it turned out to be first edition and not second, but I'm enjoying reading it so far! My brain struggles with comprehending the mechanics of any ttrpg that isn't D&D 5e, but I'm trying my best to learn.
Here are some sketches of the Misfits as Changelings who have managed to find their way back through the Hedge.

well, guess who lost control of my hands again and was compelled to scribble down designs for ANOTHER Deltarune AU? yeah. me. it doesn't really have a proper name yet so I've just been calling it Changeling AU for now, I'll figure that out later.
these would be the cast's dark world designs; they parallel early Deltarune concepts in which the lightners would turn into monsters in the dark world-- with a few medieval fantasy fae-flavored twists this time around. mortals become a variety of magical beasts in the fae's dark realm, with only 'Kris' strangely unaffected... aside from the hue shift and conspicuously pointed ears, that is.
the main 'Kris' of this AU isn't the only human in town. instead, they're ironically the only one in town who ISN'T human, though not even they know it yet. in reality they're a Changeling, a fae creature that was left as a 'gift' to replace a taken human child. they can do things, strange things. animals come to them in the night, and the cool touch of iron burns their skin. they're afraid of what they see in the mirror; human eyes don't gleam in the dark, and their teeth shouldn't be so sharp. so they hide their features, and they ignore the whispers of the townsfolk, and they keep their head down.
they made a mistake, a terrible one... and they need to set it right.
meanwhile, the human they replaced is still out there somewhere in the fae world, twisted by its curse into a cornered, desperate beast seeking any escape from the realm that has held them prisoner all their life. it's said that when the full moon casts deep shadows over the woods, you can still hear their anguished howls in the dark begging for the name that once was theirs. they can never leave the dark world without it. they'd do anything to get it back.
all they've ever really wanted was to find their way home.

Aw look! The HPSC thinks that their newest recruit and spy at UA is utterly loyal and has only gotten such an “honor” thanks to them!
How cute!
And what’s this?
She’s suggesting that Hawks give that invisible girl an internship offer due to the capability of her quirk when placed in the arms of the HPSC?
I’m sure that nothing will go wrong!
(Later, her “grandpa” and “uncle” visit Hawks agency and pull Himiko ans Tooru out of the program and UA. It’s the last anyone evers sees Hawks and starts a nationwide manhunt that never finds the perpetrators.)
Whoops

Okay so the Fey Penelope and Phillip AU but make it changelings.
Lady Featherington had been desperate and if there was one thing Portia loved it's a desperate mortal. Desperate mortals do risky things like hiring fey changelings and not look that closely at contracts.
"I had heard if you wanted a permeant switch you want to choose one that has some resemblance to you," Lady Featherington said.
Well, she had done her research at least. It is easier to hold a form if the form you're transforming into has some of the same traits as you, especially if you wanted your changeling counterpart to run around metal filled cities like London.
Penelope looked over the mortal family. Lady Featherington and her two daughters, Helen and Cecelia. All three mortals had red curly hair, which is probably a big reason why Lady Featherington came to her mother Portia for this job, and oddly enough the daughters were the same age as Penelope and Felicity.
Helen was on the shorter side like Penelope, maybe two or three inches taller and had a lusher figure like Penelope. That's where the similarities ended though. Helen had blue eyes while Penelope had brown, Helen's ears were rounded, and while Penelope's ears were about the same size they were also pointed. Penelope also grew flowrers Probably the biggest difference between the two of them was the butterfly wings Penelope had attached to her back.
Her wings resembled a peacock butterfly wings. Deep red in color on each wing tip is a dramatic eyespot. They eyespots were layered in a circular pattern of black, yellow, and blue. In the middle of the eyespots was a blotch of red. Those same eyespots decorated different parts of Penelope's skin from her thighs to the back of her hands, to her shoulders, and even around her actual eyes.
Cecelia was also a similar body type to Felicity, but the edges of Felicity's ears took the shape of butterfly's forewings. Her's resembled a tortoiseshell butterfly. Redish orange with black and yellow markings. Blue spots decorate the edges. She also had the same type of wings on her back, but they were smaller than Penelope's.
Then came the mamas. Lady Featherington's probably had the most differences when it came to body type, especially in the chest area. Lady Featherington wasn't as blessed as Portia. Portia's own wings were the biggest among her and her children and resembled a monarch butterfly, though instead of the normal four she had six.
Lady Featherington had came to them wanting Portia and her daughters to take their places in London. To fool Lord Featherington, the older Featherington daughters, and all of London high society.
"You can have everything that comes with being Lady Featherington and Featherington daughters," Lady Featherington promised. "My girls and I plan to disappear. We won't need it anymore. Just make sure no one knows we left."
"Interesting that you plan to take your youngest two but not the older ones," Portia noted. "But then again I'm sure your lover that you're running off with only wants his daughters in this new life and not your husband's."
Lady Featherington said nothing.
Portia wrote out the contract, and had all three mortals sign along with the first payment.
"Perfect," Portia smiled. She held up a pair of silver scissors. "Now for this type of arrangement we would probably need to do a transformation potion instead a glamor. The potion is more stable when we're surrounded by metal. So if you be so kind, a few locks of hair will do."
A week later Portia, Penelope, and Felicity now transformed into Lady Featherington and her daughters, Helen and Cecelia, were heading back to London after their trip out in the country.
Penelope felt itchy, Felicity kept squirming in her seat. London is filled with way too much metal.
Portia stared her daughters down. "Stop it both of you. Now what do you know about the Featherington girls?"
Penelope went first. "Helen is seventeen years old and is debuting into society this upcoming season. She is best friends with Eloise Bridgerton, and is close with the whole Bridgerton family. She is known to be extremely shy, a wallflower. She likes to read and she had a crush on Colin Bridgerton after an act of kindness from him."
Penelope tried not to roll her eyes at the crush part. She loved games and wordplay as much as the next fairie but mortals weird courtship games were just plain odd. Too much lying happened in that game as well that it left a bad taste in Penelope's mouth. Thankfully Helen said that Colin never noticed her crush before, and if she's right then Penelope can really downplay the crush part.
Portia nodded and then turned to her younger daughter.
"Cecelia is ten years old. Her best friend is also part of the Bridgerton family, the youngest sibling Hyacinth," Felicity said. "Cecelia likes watercolors, and she's boring." Felicity threw her hands up in the air. "I can't shoot Sunshine in this body. This girl couldn't even pick up archery at least?"
"Mortals do not find it proper to teach their daughter such skills," Portia said. "Only skills to create or a run a house. It's why they are such easy targets to be nabbed by other fey."
The carriage pulled up to the Featherington home in Mayfair, and the three changelings began their new assignment.
To be honest it wasn't hard. Lord Featherington and the older two Featherington daughters were painfully oblivious. To the point it was almost pathetic. Portia also did not care what her daughters got up to in their free time so long as they kept up Helen's and Cecelia's reputations. Portia is working hard to get Lady Featherington's older daughters married off, just as their mama would.
Penelope and Felicity thought the Bridgertons were insane, but a good kind of insane. It reminded them of some of the Fairie courts.

Metamorphosis
A Changeling!Alexander fic
CW: Alexander Trauma, the usual, and thankfully lots of fluff afterwards
~=~
"Hey, what's that?"
Alexander flinched. His appearance shifted into Rosella in less than an instant. "What's what?" He asked, his face like stone.
Rosella gestured towards Alexander's neck, which was now pristine. "There was something there, but it's only on your changeling form," She said, "Can you… Are you comfortable with showing it to me?"
Alexander pulled up his legs onto the bed and curled up. "I don't want to talk about it right now."
"That's alright! Take your time, you can talk about it if and when you're ready," Rosella smiled. Alexander took a moment, then shifted into his most comfortable form – He had decided on taking on the form of the young Sir Graham, since that would make them look related, and he wanted to try out this 'son' thing.
Rosella beamed, kicking her legs. "Oh, you're always so good at that!"
"Good at… what?"
"Shifting appearances!"
"Oh. Huh…" Alexander's gaze fell to the floor. "I was told… I just… thought that changing appearance was a natural thing for a mon- changeling," he shrugged. "I didn't think it was really a skill."
"Well, yeah it's a thing changelings are born with, but it takes a lot of practice to morph so smoothly!" Rosella snorted at her own thoughts. "For instance, dad always changes in chunks, and sometimes he gets all invested in a conversation that he forgets he's supposed to be keeping up a disguise. Once, he started turning into one of the nobles he was negotiating with, and it took him five tries to get back to his usual disguise!"
Alexander hummed in intrigue. "I'm surprised he didn't get yelled at by anyone. Or angrily mobbed."
Rosella giggled, "People have known that Dad is a changeling for a while. For the people who didn't know beforehand, though, it's a surprise! I love seeing their reactions."
Alexander hugged his knees. "There are people who know and are just… fine with it?"
"Yeah! Dad basically taught Mom, his close friends, and I about why he does certain things so we don't get confused. Sure, changelings aren't common here, but changelings are people."
"...Changelings are people…" Alexander mumbled.
"So, y'know, you don't really have to look like Dad to be his son. Dad's a changeling too."
Alexander relaxed, but then tensed up even more. "Can I… just stay like this? I don't really want to change right now."
Disappointed her advances had failed, but still wanting to be supportive, Rosella gave a slight smile. "Sure."
Alexander, in her young dad's face, curled up even further. He croaked out, "I'm… sorry." He frantically wiped his eyes. Rosella handed him her handkerchief and he took it without question. "I've always been forced to look like other people, so I could be more useful," Alexander sniffled, "I didn't get let outside often, so for the few times I could, I had to impersonate influential people for the most benefit. I'm not the best with impressions, though."
Rosella stayed quiet but half-intrigued – only half, as not to scare him with wide eyes. He hadn't talked much about what it was like before his escape.
"The first time I realized I could shapeshift, I turned into a character from a book I was reading." Alexander morphed into an older man, with dark hair lined with gray streaks, and tempered eyes. "Turns out I… struck a nerve with Him. I think I looked too much like someone He hated. So He struck my uh…" the disguise faded slightly, so Rosella could see to his changeling neck and get a look at the scar.
Alexander turned back into his comfortable form, rubbing his arms as if spiders had crawled down them. "I'm supposed to be some kind of monster. That's what they told me when they had to give the blame to someone. Monsters get locked away, so they don't scare people with how ugly and inept they are."
"You are not ugly or inept." Rosella had to jump in. She was practically gritting her teeth by now. "What they told you was a horrible, horrible lie to make you feel powerless to escape."
Alexander nodded. "I'm starting to get that. It's just hard… making your statement sound true. It sounds like a lie, but I know it's not. But I don't… believe it."
"You just have to keep repeating it to yourself. Think about how they would repeat that you're a monster. You have to repeat the real truth as many times as they told you lies. Maybe even more times than that!" Rosella pumped her fists. "Say it with me: I am smart enough, strong enough, and my looks are enough for me."
Alexander grimaced at the idea. He still tried, though. "I'm smart enough, strong enough, and my looks are enough for me?" He said, with the fervor of a rock.
"You have to say it like you mean it!"
With more firmness, he said, "I'm smart enough, strong enough, and my looks are enough for me."
"Give me all you've got!"
"I'm smart enough, strong enough," He took a deep breath, and let it all out, "And I look amazing!"
"Yeah you are!!" Rosella kicked her feet and pumped her fists into the air.
Alexander felt breathless. "Hope you don't mind that I changed up the wording."
"Of course! They're your thoughts, after all." She giggled. "I can't change them."
Alexander chuckled a little too. He sighed. "Even though I'm more confident now, I can still stay like this, right?" He pointed at his face, looking like their dad's.
"Go for it. I'm not gonna tell you who to be."

I want a Changeling Robin story. You know changelings as a metaphor for queerness and/or autism, since I do like an autistic Robin headcanon. Her parents don't know, they just know she was really sick as a baby and then was suddenly a little weird but otherwise fine. No lasting damage.
Nothing weird every happens to Robin growing up, no powers show up or anything, but she's preternaturally good with languages, music, theater, art, writing, etc. and can't seem to hold down a friendship to save her life.
Until Scoops, and the Russians, and the truth serum. One moment she's terrified, the next she's feeling all these weird swoopy, swirling feelings as whatever self-protective barriers she's put up in her mind that keep her powers from her are removed via the drug. The whole world is singing to her and she knows if she sings back in the right way the world will bend to her will.
While that's happening, one of those singing voices, one she knows and likes, is right behind her. Terrified, just like she is. She also knows he took a beating to protect her and her mutual desire to protect him reaches out without any real thought or guidance and links with him. All she wants to do is soothe him, but she ends up creating a permanent telepathic link instead.
They deal with it by using it to their advantage while the fight with the Mindflayer is on going, but once that's over Robin and Steve shake apart in each others arms asking what the hell happened and neither of them have a clue.

[part 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5]
Yoojin does not meet very many changelings, as a changeling himself. The very nature of his job relies on not being discovered, and too much strangeness together tends to tip humans off.
Still, that doesn’t mean he doesn’t recognize Yerim for what she is the first time he spots her after his regression. Perhaps it’s because he’s still over-sensitive to the buzz of magic in the air after going so long without. Maybe it’s because he’s always had a fondness for children twined into his very being. Regardless, the realization slots into his awareness within a few moments of laying eyes on her, and he couldn’t stop himself from seeking her out even if he wanted to.
“What do you want?” she asks suspiciously when Yoojin corners her later. He’d originally approached with a vague thought towards asking about Awakening and he decides to completely change tactics once he opens his mouth.
“I can help you break your contract,” he says seriously, and finds himself meaning every word.
On the whole, changelings aren’t treated very well. Most of it hardly bothers Yoojin anymore; after years and years and years of practice, he can brush it off without a thought. It’s not him in particular that the parents hate, it’s the idea, the imposter, the stranger in their midst. Lee Hyunjin, in all honesty, had been one of the nicer ones—she could have done much, much worse than shun him and neglect her only other child.
But there’s a particular air of misery that seems to linger around Yerim. Yoojin can’t quite put his finger on it, but even now, Yerim reminds him less of a faerie biding her time and more of an actual child, anger in her eyes and fear across her shoulders.
Yerim narrows her eyes at him. “What do you mean? What contract?”
With that, Yoojin realizes she’s… young. Very young—possibly young enough for this to be her first assignment. This both explains and complicates things. “Perhaps you’ve felt… out of place since you’ve been born,” he starts slowly. “Like you’re alone, even when you’re surrounded by people. You’re an outsider.”
Yerim laughs harshly. “Ahjussi, none of the words you’re saying mean anything.”
She’s not wrong. Yoojin forges onwards anyway. “Sometimes, you feel like you should be able to do more, like there’s magic at the tips of your fingers, but you don’t know how to use it. At the height of summer, you can’t stand the thought of being inside. When the wind is blowing just right, you feel like you could take flight.” Yerim is staring at him. “Am I getting closer?”
“Just say what you want,” she mutters, shuffling her feet and yet making no attempt to escape.
“Come with me and I’ll help you.” It’s an awfully vague contract. It probably says something about Yoojin that this is starting to become a theme in his life.
It’s what Yerim needs, though, and when he sticks out his hand, Yerim meets him halfway.
