another c!ranboo design I love? Him with no visible mouth! Just flat skin that gets pulled apart all gooey and stretchy when he’s mad and his jaw unhinges. Otherwise when he talks his face just moves a little like he’s speaking through a mask.
It’s cute for c!Ranboo and calls back to the CC since the mask is part of his brand, in a sense. Double win! Very neat!

Character Design Talks: Ventus
Alright, time for my 3rd favorite character of the KH series: Ventus, aka Ven. The main reason why Ven is one of my favorite characters is mainly that he looked like Roxas. I was initial attracted to him due to his strong resemblance, but as I played the game I came to love him even more as a character I remember a long time ago before BBS came out I watched the earlier game trailers on the computer just to see him.
Like most of the KH characters his character design is centered around connections this is seen best in his outfit. The most interesting thing about Ven’s character design is that he looked like a fusion of both Roxas and Sora's appearance.
Personality-wise Ven's appearance is centered on Roxas but retains elements of Sora's design in his design. Like Roxas, Ven has a lot of details that correlate to both his character and his role in the story by adding kh chi in the complication. The reason why Ven and Roxas look alike is that even the heart entered Sora’s body, Ven’s presence influenced Roxas’ appearance Kh bbs ultimania clarified the connection. Ven is created to have an important connection to Sora and Roxas.
Name:
Let's start with Ven’s name. Like most characters named by Tetsuya Nomura, he is named based on an element, Ventus means “Wind” in Latin this goes with his inquisitive, cheerful, and outgoing personality resembling a windy breeze. His name shares the sky theme with Sora, which means sky in Japanese, highlighting his connection to him and his outgoing personality which is similar to Sora’s.
Design:
As I stated before in this post, Ven’s outfit highlights his connection to Sora and Roxas because he is created to have an important connection to them. There is a prominent X in Ven’s clothing which is used to activate his armor.
His armor is gold and green, green is the wind referencing Ven’s sky theme and gold signifies light and Ven’s alliance to it. The X has a lot of symbolism that references Ven's role in the story.
X is pronounced chi or key Inspired by the Latin letter x which is one of the keywords in bbs, The Key aspect in X infers how Ven was used by Xehanort to create the x blade by making him fight Ven and Vanitas so they can complete the keyblade. The x of the greek alphabet is produced key has the meaning of death in it, The x his and the rest of the bbs trios grievous fate in bbs X means death; this means that it means death to his heart if not saved by Sora if hadn't taken refuge inside Sora. The emblem at the center of Ven’s chest is the emblem of their master, who references him being one of the apprentices of Master Ericus.
Okay let's talk about Ven’s outfit,
There was something I realized when I was writing this post: if I looked closely, his clothes are a fusion of Roxas's twilight town clothes and Sora’s KH2 outfit.
Ven’s clothes in his design are similar to Roxas's having the same jacket and wristband. The color in his pants is similar to what Roxas wore if you look at both of their designs together. Ven’s pants are taken from Sora’s pants with the ball out part resembling Sora’s chap style shorts in KH2. Another fusion is seen in the jacket he wears is a fusion of Roxas’ jacket and Sora’s KH2 jacket, being a black and white jacket. his outfit carries both sora and Roxas's clothes in his design; this is a clever reference to his connection between the two he has in the story. Another thing that caught my eyes is that his jacket is black and white with white on the right side and black on the left side. The two colors could signify light and darkness since the white signifies Ven’s being of light and the black being Vanitas, his part that was split by Xehanort his negative emotions. The light half of his jacket references how he is someone who is meant to be the other half of the x blade and connection to Vanitas who is created as the dark half.
Or the black in his jacket references his role in kh chi and how he was possessed by darkness to slay Strelitzia. But all this is my interpretation of it
Despite harboring the same character design as Roxas, Ven has elements that make him stand out as his character. This is the last KH meta I am going to do since Kingdom Hearts as a series has always been convoluted even though I got confused when I was writing KH metas. So I could be wrong when I was discussing if you think so feel free to add and correct. I am happy to have someone help.

I love creating little lore tidbits for my own characters
Like, in no way would the detail be useful, or ever be mentioned in any context other than fun facts. But its still a delight to me coming up with random little interactions or world details.
For example: this character doesn't like the crust on their sandwich, and that character hates birds for some reason. minor details like that

I could not be more bored of women characters who are dangerous in a competent, sexy, luminous makeup and blow-dried hairstyle kind of way. I am so tired of all these dry-clean-only girlbosses strutting their way into stories. “Oh she’s so beautiful AND so good at martial arts and so clever and seductive” No! Get that outta here!! Give me more women who are dangerous in a real grungy way, like rusted metal with a sharp edge. Girls who make you glad you’ve had your tetanus shot. Girls who cut their own hair and get bad tattoos. Girls who are as charming as a wet feral cat. Girls who might be clever enough to Play The Game but would rather flip over the chess board and punch you in the throat. I demand more horrible unpleasant women!! Thank you.

Character Design Talks: Roxas
Another character from the series whose design I wanted to talk about, one that is close to my heart, is Roxas, my top fave character in the KH franchise. Roxas is the character that introduced me to the KH series. He's the character I thought the most about.
I loved his personality and design and I wanted to talk about it though Nomura already explained Roxas's design concept. This post is just my attempt at explaining his design.
Name:
His name is straightforward but is deep and enriched in meaning that has something to do with her nature and his supposed role.
Roxas's name is the anagram of Sora and x used like this:
Sora + X = Roxas
This is used to signify that Roxas is the nobody of sora with Roxas name being an anagram of Sora’s name.
The x is what organization 13 uses in their names with the anagram of x and the member's real name when they were once human.
The x in Roxas's name is a lot deeper than what you think. X is part of the roman alphabet pronounced “Chi” or “kye."
The x is called the resultant Sigil pronunciation similar to the roman alphabet or kye or key. This is given to the organization members. The x sigil is used by Xemnas to locate members of the Organization so he can use them for his goals. The x is a symbol designed by Xehanort to represent the rejection of a nobody to form his original persona so he can control them.
X is symbolic of death. This notes Xemnas’ objective with the members. He plans to use the artificial kingdom hearts to make the members the intended vessel of Xehanort's heart once it has been completed. Xemnas plans to use all the original organization members' vessels once kingdom hearts are met. Xemnas added x in their names, which x is the mark of an intended vessel.
He needs the person's original self to die first so he can use them as a vessel. He needs the person's original self to die first so he can use them as a vessel. The x symbol for death symbolizes the death of the self. organization 13 members are marked to signify the death of their original self.
Design:
To keep with Kingdom Heart's themes of connection, Roxas's design encompasses these concepts
Roxas's design concept is based on the concept of between since nobodies exist between light and dark not belonging to neither. It alludes to nobody. Roxas has many elements in his design that correlate directly to nobody which is seen best in his outfit.
The zippers seen throughout Roxas clothes look like teeth from the mouth of dusk, and dusks have notable zipped mouths in their designs.
The X cross zipper on Roxas clothes is the same emblem nobodies have; the cross is a motif for nobodies, Roxas X shaped zipper pull is modeled after a nobody symbol.
Nomura said the X is symbolic of the crossing of dark and light. Nobody are beings that neither belongs to light nor darkness this part in his design hints at his true nature as a nobody in a more subtle way
Another interesting detail is in his black and white rings on his fingers and the black and white checkerboard pattern of his wrist band on his left wrist, Nomura stated that the checkers in Roxas's clothing represent light and darkness this goes well with nobodies since nobodies are being that belong to neither.
Roxas's first design is based on Sora.
Roxas original design was supposed to look like sora since he's his nobody and the person nobody looked similar to their original person. His hair isn’t as spiky as Sora’s; it's clear that Roxas's hair is meant to be similar to him with his jacket resembling Sora’s white kh 1 jacket in the concept art. Roxas was designed to resemble Sora, but with as much agency Roxas has in his character arc, his looking like Sora would have not done him any good.
Roxas has created contrast Sora,
Roxas is designed to bear similarities since he is his nobody but retains his individuality.
This is seen in their clothing. While Roxas is designed to be an urban child to contrast Sora’s country child
Roxas has slightly narrow eyes; his hair is the same length as Sora’s. But his blonde hair contracts Sora’s brown hair Roxas harbors the same face as Sora right down to the same pixels.
Roxas's main color is white, the basis used in his clothes in contrast to Sora’s black clothes.
Roxas' image color is white, white is the color of nobody, it's the color of Dusks, the first nobody we see in the game.
White is the absence of color, white is the color of nothingness being a color of blank, nothing. This goes well with the enemies nobodies in the games that are a blank slate made to be transparent since white is a color with nothing in it.
Roxas’ white jacket and pants being white on black goes with how nobodies are seen with white on black.
This took a while to summaries since there are a lot of intricate details of Roxas design. If I forgot to add anything or I’m wrong feel free to correct me.
