I think I might've just accidentally explained TMH and what happened between there and TLH.

To do this you need to think of TID and TLH not as stories about parents and children, but as parents and children themselves. TID is the parent series/parent books to TLH. TLH is not just a series of books about the children of the TID cast, it is itself the child/product of TID. And what do children do? Children strive to differentiate themselves from their parents, to assert their identity as indivduals.

I think a similar process to that parent/child differentiation went through CC's mind writing TLH. TMH is what I think TLH would have looked like if it had followed in the footsteps of TID more: if it had retained TID's vibe/aesthetic and more thematic parallels running on down from its parent series. But I think CC realized that, like any child, TLH would want to have a different vibe from its parent series, and that's why it is the way it is. It's a different feeling/aesthetic from TID and TMH on purpose: she's trying to differentiate the "child" from its parent series, to make it stand on its own.

Your choice on whether this was a good move or a bad one or mixed. I'm firmly in the "mixed" category.

Nimona OC - Charlotte Swiftheart/Corova

Hello! Back again, this time with the drabble I mentioned. After a semi-productive day I'm very prepared to do something fun, AKA write this for you few people taking interest (hi! I appreciate you!)

I'd like to note that I enjoy the headcanon that Ballister's original name was Blackheart, but it was changed at some point toward the end of his training or at the knighting ceremony (just based on the little detail of his reaction when the queen calls him Boldheart). That's going to come up briefly.

She rhythmically knocks her fist against the metal pipe by the door, and after a few moments, there's some heavy, loud clangs and scrapes on the other side of the door. It swings open and the young man on the other side grins at the sight of her. He quickly moves aside, spinning around and cupping a hand to his mouth.

"Chari's back!" he calls. Behind her, Ambrosius and Ballister shift a little. She glances back at them and smiles slightly, gesturing with her head for them to follow her. They do so, and as the door closes, several children quickly rush over to Charlotte.

"Chari! Did you get them? Did you get them?" a little boy tugging at her shirt asks. Many of the orphans that they've taken in don't have names when they arrive, and they either ask for one or choose their own. These days, many of them are naming themselves after the next knights of the realm. This little one named himself-

"Yes, Ballister, I did. Why don't you kids go make sure they're all clean so that I can make the pie?" she says, gently brushing his dark hair out of his eyes. He quickly nods, taking the basket when she offers it. He and a few others scamper off, but a few stay. One little girl tugs on Charlotte's arm, peering past her shyly.

"Chari? Is that really him?" she asks softly. Charlotte smiles, turning slightly to look at Ballister and Ambrosius.

"Yes, Rosie, it is. Would you like to say hello?" she asks. Rosie quickly crowds against her side, shaking her head. Rosie's friend, Amber, however, quickly bounds up to the two knights-to-be, her wide grin showing off missing teeth.

"You're Ambrosius Goldenloin and Ballister Blackheart!" she says. She sticks out a hand toward Ambrosius. "I'm Amber!" Ambrosius's eyes, which were already quite comedically wide, widen further, then he blinks and offers Amber a smile, leaning down a bit to shake her hand.

"Amber, huh?" She sighs and plants her hands on her hips as she lets go of his hand.

"I wanted to be Ambrosius, but Chari says that it would get too confusing if everyone gave themselves the same name. There's already a little boy who took Ambrosius," she says, bitter as a child can. Ambrosius chuckles.

"Well, I think Amber is a nice name. It suits you," he says, offering her a kind smile. Amber's pout disappears as her eyes widen a bit.

"Really?" she asks. Ambrosius nods, and Amber grins. She quickly spins around. "Ambrosius likes my name best!" She doesn't let Ambrosius get another word in before she runs off, likely to throw the proclamation around to the other children and KB members.

"Do they all have names like that? After us?" Ballister asks, though his gaze isn't focusing on her. She can see the amazement on his face, as well as a tint of sadness, perhaps some longing. She smiles softly, looking down at where Rosie has shifted to huddle against her side. She strokes her hand over the little girl's hair affectionately.

"They like to name themselves after their favorite knights, and you two are popular. We have a Ballister, a Bal, an Allister, a little girl named Ballia. Then there's Ambrosius, Brosi, Brosius, Amber, Rosie..." She trails off for a moment, then quickly looks back at them. "Oh, you'll never guess who else we have." That draws Ballister's attention to her face.

"Who?" he asks. She glances around, then leans forward a bit to stage whisper behind her free hand.

"We have a Todd!"

"You're kidding," Ambrosius says. She shakes her head, and Ambrosius exhales.

"Wow. I didn't know anyone liked Todd that much," he says. Charlotte shrugs.

"I tried to warn him that sir Thoddeus wasn't as great as he thought, the little guy was insistent. And who am I to argue with a six year old?" It gets a soft chuckle out of both of them, and then Charlotte looks away as Rosie tugs against the bottom of her shirt. "What is it, love?" Rosie waves her down, and Charlotte crouches down a bit, allowing the little girl to whisper in her ear.

"Can I make something for them?" she asks. Charlotte smiles, turning to look at her.

"I'm sure they'd love that, Rosie. Why don't you see if any of the others want to do something too?" Rosie smiles a bit and nods, then quietly turns and hurries away. Charlotte rises again and looks toward Ambrosius and Ballister again. They're exchanging a look, and she curiously raises an eyebrow.

"So...You're Chari," Ambrosius says. Ah, that would be what the look was about. Chari. It's both a nickname and a bit of a code name among her people. It's the name whispered around on the streets.

"I am," she says. Ballister looks around again for a moment, then back at her.

"You really are their leader, aren't you?" he asks. Chari is rumored to be the leader of the Knights Betrayed. And it's true, she is.

"Do you have to arrest me if I say yes?" she asks. Ballister smiles a bit and shakes his head.

"We aren't knights yet, so I don't think we have the authority to arrest you even if we were supposed to," Ambrosius says. Charlotte chuckles a bit, setting her hand on her hip and gesturing a bit with her other.

"Well, then would you like a tour?"

And more will come but I have class in the morning and I don't want to be cranky tomorrow

Osamu is such a chill guy, like he has these cool, mature and hot vibes. He can also get all fiery, but mostly with tsumu, and when someone insults something and/or someone he cares for.

Im thinkin' your often grocery shopping with him and its always in the late evening, like 9 or 10pm haha, because it just feels nice. And y'all would always have your pet or maybe even a cute plushie sit on that little seat on the big cart while you guys talk ab9ut food on your list, prepping for osamu's yummy delicasies, and new recipies!

And one moment he'd be looking at the fruits and veggies section, and you just suddenly sneak out of his side to quickly run to the chocolates and candy isle to grab a crap ton of goodies, using the excuse: "but babyyyyy, its advance preparation for halloween 😎" proudly saying it while samu's just rolling his eyes, and goes "but babe- it's almost january." and you're like- "i knoww!! I'm excited already!!"

Osamu is used to this, so he goes: "fine, but that means i get to pick our matching halloween costume."

Sooo, y'all obv know that our babe Samu is excellent at cooking, but in this au, you're better at him in baking!!!

So imagine this, its 11pm, and you both are listening to lovely songs, all cuddled up under the blankets with the cold air hitting your skin. As comfy as it gets, you still can't sleep, the same for Osamu, apparently.

That's why, as a night owl, the sudden surge of productiveness and excitement has been reflected onto you, and spreaded to osamu haha, that's basically how you guys are now in you kitchen in 11:08pm baking cookies, for the new year!

In cooking, osamu is the handsome head chef and you're his pretty assistant and aprentice, but in baking, you are the elegant patisserie, and he, your charming assistnat, and aprentice.

As you mix the bowl osamu just stands there hugging you in the back, doing nothing but watching you contently and you're like-"why are you just standing there 😭", and he uses the excuse "I'm observing you, so i know what to do 🙄"

Y'all are adorable having your cute matching aprons, with osamu having flour on his face, and you in a cute messy bun and headband, osamu, too has a headband for his bangs, and as the both of you laugh and bake together in the midst of a late weekday evening, the oven ringed "ding", also coincidently signaling the strike of 12am- midnight.

Julian Dailey is an afro-latino voice actor based in Pittsburgh, PA. Julian has been a featured voice on several shows including The Sheridan Tapes, Tales From the Fringes of Reality, and Tales of the Echowood. In his free time, you can find him sinking hours into video games and animated shows without blinking.

Marlon Dance-Hooi joins us this season as Chief Inspector Turnbubble!

Marlon is a Eurasian Australian Actor and Voice-over Artist. He has been performing in some form or other since early childhood. His breakout role in the King and I (alongside the legendary Hayley Mills) instilled a love of the craft and a passion for theatre. He continued on stage in multiple South Australian productions throughout high school and college, and after completing degrees in Arts and Law embarked upon a professional acting career. Moving to Sydney and then Singapore, he worked on everything from live theatre and Fringe shows to feature films and television, appearing on four Singaporean TV series and several award winning short films. Throughout this period he worked tirelessly on his craft, tutored by working actors Sam Haft, Chum Ehelopola and Kamil Haque and learning Meisner, Adler, Chekov, Improv, Suzuki and Meyerhold techniques. Hello, everyone; my name is Charidel Busbuso, but you can also call me Chari for short. I graduated from Leeward Community College in 2022 with an associate degree in Video Production and Digital Photography. Currently, I'm in the general media creative program. My topic and research for this project is interviewing immigrants who move from their home country to America. Understanding their reasons why they choose to move to another country, how their lives change when they move, what's the American dream from their point of view, and so much more about their story doing this project and sharing my research and interviews with videos and photography of immigrants on social media on Instagram, I'm able to reach out to the public and be able to share other people's stories and their experiences. Showing others in the community how much immigrants impact our community and our society. While working on this project, I can learn how to communicate and listen to others, reach out to organizations or people for help with research, and share my art skills with this type of project, especially since it involves photography and video. I hope after graduation, I'll be able to find a career job that involves me being creative, which requires art from video production, writing, photography, etc.

Speaking of celebrity Indians, side-eyeing Neelam Gill for referring to Simone as "another Indian girl". Granted she was talking about how nice it was to have others like her around at Venice. But it's so minimizing and disrespectful to talk about Simone so generically. Why not say actress or model or even woman? I don't understand why it's this hard for people to give her her proper due. It's at the point where I want everyone to keep her name out of their mouths.

Hello there, anon and honestly this ask caught me off guard because Neelam is the last person I expected this from.

On first impression just based on this ask, I do think it's another case of over analysation because it does sound like a solitary statement like Hey, its another Indian girl like me! I do use that phrase often when referring to my Desi friends and I don't usually list off their resumes when saying that you know what I mean?

It's just "Hey I have this Indian girl friend, Priya" or something. I'm not like "Hey this is my friend Priya, an Indian writer and student" and etc.

I definitely think Neelam meant it that way, in a show of solidarity and hyping Simone up for being at the event as well. Because where and when else are you going to see these amazing Indian women our age at a mainstream media event?? This is probably the first time this has happened with Indian women who are so prominent in this field now on this side of the world!

And I still stand by all of this to be honest. However as someone who needs all the facts, I did want to see where this was from to get the context and tone from Neelam herself before making a fully formed decision on where I stand.

While I do stand by the sentiment before, I will say I do not love the word choices after seeing them side by side. This made me very conflicted in my initial stance. So I talked to a couple of my friends to get their thoughts too and funnily enough both @hptriviachamp and @minim236 said it's because Neelam is friends with Charithra. Which makes sense I just found it so cute both of them said the same line!

I don't love the word choice because she could have easily said: "My friend Chari and Simone both Indian girls/actresses". While I know on this blog and the way I conduct myself in this fandom we are conscious about word choices, I don't think it's that deep in Neelam's case!

Ultimately, my friends and I all agree that Neelam isn't trying to exclude, minimize or disrespect Simone with this statement. It definitely reads more like a show of solitary and how happy she is to have two other Indian women like her by her side.

Also we need to look at the paragraph (and by extension the whole article itself), it goes beyond acting and is about Neelam being excited to work with a brand with visions that shares her values and also being there for Armani with her fellow Indian girls!

As Triv also pointed out: Obviously do I feel like big companies like Armani sort of commodify diversity when it suits them? Yes, but that's on them, not Neelam who was probably excited to get a deal like this and just said a few lines and included Charithra and Simone in them

It's amazing because girls like us never traditionally get brand deals like this. Especially not the darker skinned ones and I really believe girls like Simone, Amita and Chari (Neelam too but she is considerably lighter than the three I Iisted) have started paving the way for this in our age group and in mainstream media.

So honestly, we should be focusing on that because Neelam's line wasn't malicious and it was really nice for her to name drop them unprompted. So I think we really need to reframe it this positive way.

As for your last two lines anon, I understand and I hear you through this whole ask. I think we've all become jaded by Production and press treating Simone as second rate and it doesn't help when half of the larger fandom does it too. Due to this, I think we kind of started overanalyzing everything to the point it has become misguided in my opinion. Not to say your feelings of frustration aren't valid, they are valid feelings and good to feel them to let it go. I just think it's misdirected and we all should take a breath and ignore all the noise tbh. We gotta remind ourselves Simone is a big girl and we will always be here to love and support her but we don't need to overly protect her (at least not in cases like these - racist show fans can get fucked though)

Also God do I wanna gatekeep Kate from some people shskksk but it's really starting to hit me no matter how much I yell here and into the void, people are going to do whatever. All we can do after calling bigotry out is curate our experience better. So yeah in terms of trying to keep Simone's name out of people's mouth, I think we should just focus on her and sometimes those who support her too - and in this case Neelam definitely was!

EDIT: Neelam posted this really sweet post as tribute to both Simone and Charithra, definitely confirms that the one off line was the result of a verbal interview where answers aren't recorded in a polished or edited manner!

Personality- She's confident, bubbly, & unapologetically brash and bossy. She lives & breathes all things fashion and beauty. She can also be a bit full of herself as well as manipulative.

She has the standard abilities of a goddess except shapeshifting. As the goddess of allurement her other powers/abilities are limited beauty inducement (as it pertains to other objects) and limited cosmetic manipulation.

Calleis lives with her mother Charis (goddess of charm) in their gorgeous condo in the Chant du Cygne neighborhood of New Olympus. She has an older brother Hedylogos (god of sweet talk & flattery) that lives thirty minutes away. Her bedroom is the epitome of all things girly- various shades of pink, marble accents on the walls, sophisticated lighting fixtures, & a velvet couch for friends to sit on. Calleis' favorite part of her room is her closet which holds all her stylish clothes, shoes, and accessories. Mounted marble shelves on the walls hold her jewelry, hair accessories & products, her vast nail polish collection, and her glamour doll collectibles.

Her all time favorite drink is the bubblegum milkshake from The Frozen Spoon. She always gets the olympian size. She also likes fruit punch, iced tea, cherry cola, & sparkling water. Her usuals from The Roasted Bean are the small caramel frappuccino and the medium cranberry cherry splash. Her mom even allowed her a small sip of champagne at home once!

She's always seen chewing a big wad of bubblegum, her favorite flavor being watermelon.

Calleis loves her "Bubba" Hedylogos. He comes over some weekends to stay over & she loves the chance they get to hang out. They'll post videos of themselves doing silly dance challenges on Fatestagram, go to the movies, or visit the Mall of Olympius for some serious shopping! She's well aware of her inherit charm & uses it to her advantage, batting her eyelashes on her brother before he caves and buys her whatever she wants- whether it's new clothes, a glamour doll, or some makeup! There was a time when Calleis used to be jealous of her brother because of his wings.

She has a great relationship with her mom. Calleis likes the freedom her mom allows her to experiment with her style, hair, and makeup. One bonding moment for them is their shopping trips at the mall while another is them in their living room eating hot fudge sundaes while they watch trashy reality TV shows!

She usually eats a bowl of choco crunch cereal in the mornings for breakfast. Sometimes she'll eat a stack of chocolate chip pancakes drizzled in hot fudge sauce while other times she'll get a bacon, sausage, egg, & cheese sandwich from The Bread Box. She doesn't mind that her mom doesn't cook.

Calleis attends a private school in the city. She likes to think of herself as "the IT girl" in her grade. In addition to being friends with other students, she's also friends with some godly kids like Aidos (goddess of shame, modesty, humility, & respect), Melete (goddess of thought & meditation), Ersa (goddess of morning dew), and Eulabeia (Eula) (goddess of caution). It's well known that she prefers gossping than actually doing classwork. Calleis is the go-to for the other girls (and some boys) when it comes to juicy gossip! She even sneaks in various copies of Kytheiria magazine in her bookbag, reselling them for two drachmas each. As for her immediate friend group Calleis appreciates the strengths in all her besties- Aidos is comforting, Melete is wickedly talented & a great karaoke partner, Ersa's funny, and Eula is smart. With some lessons in confidence & a whole new wardrobe, Calleis thinks that Eula can be an "IT girl" too.

A favorite snack of hers are spicy barbeque cheese puffs!

For Christmas, Hedylogos gifted her a pair of pink bejeweled headphones!

Her all time favorite dessert from Hollyhock's Bakery are the double chocolate caramel espresso cookies.

Calleis once bejeweled a pair of sneakers using the bedazzler Eula got her for her birthday.

A guilty pleasure for her are chicken teriyaki sushi-style rolls! Calleis tried them for the first time when her mom took her & some friends to a sushi bar in the Tsunami neighborhood after karaoke. She's been hooked on them ever since!

She's the only one in her friend group (aside from Ersa and Melete) to own a smartphone. Her mom got it for her as a gift to celebrate her good grades on her report card. Calleis remembers the two of them going to the mall where she bought a beautiful pink jeweled phone case from Aglaia's kiosk with the money she saved up!

In the pantheon Calleis is a HUGE fan of Aphrodite (goddess of love & beauty). She treats the Kytheiria magazine like it's a sacred text, has most of her glamour doll collectibles (including the very recent "Of Seafoam" one), & even has a pair of the iconic hot pink heart shaped sunglasses from La Petit Amour. When the time comes she wants THE beauty goddess to be her mentor, even praying nightly to the goddess Gaia to make her wish a reality. Calleis likes other deities like Móda (goddess of fashion), Philyra (goddess of perfume, paper, & beauty), The Graces, Pheme (goddess of fame), and Iris (goddess of the rainbow); loves her brand of temporary hair dye spray. She also has crushes on Apollo & Hermes!

She hopes to get her first kiss at an official boy/girl party she's been invited to, hosted by the young god Thrasos.

As a birthday gift Melete gave her a jeweled Diamond Ave. pillbox clutch in the shape of a nail polish bottle!

One time afterschool Calleis and Ersa went to the cinema where they snuck in & saw an R-rated movie for the first time. They laughed and blushed at the sex scenes!

This information regarding Romantica is widely available online, it was written by them and is from their old website. I thought I would still post it for archival sake, enjoy! :3

- Being in a mediocre country where rock never was taken in a serious way, where bands with look and make up were always repudiated and they always did it for personal pleasure since the end of the 80's. in the beginning of a new millennium would born the only band with look and glamour in a time where nobody respond to the name "glam" anymore, it arises when an old glam who was already known in the under since 1996 that was initiated by 80's California glam, known as "Karen fox", and the only true fan and collector of Japanese glam, named visual kei in that country, (this is a lie) met via e-mail in a forum of this style, KarenFox discovered Visual kei in the first years of the new millennium but without knowing much of it, and thanks to this younger fan that knew all about it and had all kind of material he started to know more and more about it, since the beginning KarenFox tells to the future Sada to make a Glam band in a Japanese style, in a country where the only few ideas of making a band like this only remain in that, ideas, and bands without look that only play covers. (It is safe to say, Karen Fox and Sada single handedly saved the music of the country of Argentina xD)

 Sada used to play guitar since 2000 alone in his home, and KarenFox had already been in a glam band called "Afrodita" in the year 1996 and done solo songs and videoclips in year 1999, (it’s sad most of Karen’s glam solo work is lost!!) but now both of them were looking for something in common, to do something based on visual kei or glam from Japan, but not singing in japanese or doing covers, but doing their own songs and singing lyrics in spanish, that's when Karen Fox met to the person that would be Sada, and he thought he was very androgynous looking and from that moment Sada he started to build his look to convert in the visual or glam that he is now, so in june 2004 Romantica was formed, wich doesn't defines it self as visual kei, because of the glam past of KarenFox and the visual present of Sada they decided to name it "Glam Visual"

- Because they couldn't find anyone that understood the style as it is... it would be only KarenFox and Sada who recorded their first song called "Yaoi", and so Romantica would have its first website (it seems this is referencing a website separate from the one this lore was posted too-? i would kill for the link.. :’P )which was very visited and criticized for those that only are usefull for that.. criticize.

- Passed time and with more production behind, they made another look, more colourful, and they record their second song called "Lady Oscar", with lyrics based on the anime series by the same name". (It’s a fuckin’ banger)

- Some months later, they make two videclips of the songs previously recorded, Yaoiand Lady Oscar, including in Lady oscar a new member, Dai, but shortly after Dai leaves the band because of various differences.

- They record the song "Paris", with help on lyrics of Chary charly (ex-Afrodita, ex-Venus desnuda), and then they film the videoclip of this song.

They make a cd with the 3 songs previously recorded, Yaoi, Lady Oscar and Paris, adding a live cover of the song "Presente" by the argentinian rock band Vox Dei, plus a minimalist song made by KarenFox, named "depresion". And they make another cd including the 3 videoclips filmed. Both cd's can be found in the same box under the name of "Glammagedon", the first Romantica's cd. The design of the cover was made by our friend Ciel. (the CD was never sold… *crie*)

- In the first month of 2006 they record the song "Cara de Angel", wich is a new version of a ten years old song of Karen Fox's first band, Afrodita, originally composed by Chary Charly and Karen Fox.

- They receive an e-mail from a japanese producer of visual kei indie events, inviting them to participate in one of his events, but because of no money on both sides for the trip, the producer offer himself to promote Romantica in Japan. (there is no way this was not a troll tricking them help)

- In july 2006 They are invited to the argentinian radio show called "Temporada de koalas" on F.M. la tribu, where three of their songs are played, and they have a nice interview.

- They make a videoclip of the song X-Novia, and they expose it on line on november.

- In January 2007 they make a video for Cara de Angel, with this, they finally complete the idea of having a videoclip for all of their songs.

-Sada and Karen Fox now with their own style, though most of the people don't like it! Without following money, fame, social succes and all things that "rock" bands in Argentina follows. Romantica keeps alive and faithful to their ideals, in their lyrics and their attitude, and you like it or not is doing glam, basing its proposal in true rock revel, the game of ambiguous sexualities, always in the way of romanticist and stories that someone lived, away from promiscuity, there's a reason why it's called ROMANTICA!!!

This idea was birthed because I’d been bingeing episodes of The Rational Life on Netflix. I thought Dylan Wang was ADORABLE, so I knew I had to put him in something. Basically, there would be no Anshan Hedi if not for Dylan Wang (who is actually Wang He Di, btw) This book wouldn’t even exist if not for Dylan Wang.

I needed to “cast” his family, and I’d just watched Mortal Kombat too. (God, those Mortal Kombat guys were hot af). Anyway, Grandmaster Ludi was Ludi Lin. I wasn’t even subtle with that naming process.

Finally, I’ve had a longstanding crush on Jennie Kim of Blackpink, so she’s who I pictured as Chari.

A beautiful family, no? They were definitely beautiful as I imagined them doing stuff in my head. lol

Do we know what Vicki is doing atm? Like what sort of projects is she working on and stuff or what does she do as a job atm? I know she’s apparently exec producer for a Darryl Davis project ?

I honestly have no idea.

I assume maybe she is working on a new book??

I don’t know what she does for a job outside of that. (I think I saw somewhere at some point she was teaching at a university?? But that could have been before the move to Washington or while they were in Washington. Either way, no idea since she moved back to California…)

Her and Misha were both EPs on the project because they co-owned the production company producing it.

And they’re both inactive directors/officers with no one actively listed except the agent. So all co-owned businesses are being/have been dissolved.

So I honestly have no idea what is going on with the Darryl Davis project.

As neither of them have an active production company (because no, despite the name, Chari Productions is not a production company).

Hello tumblr, I have returned. It was a zoned out weekend and I didn't do anything productive other than laundry. But to make up for it, I have a drabble for you! So, there's that.

Also, I did a little bit of medical research for this (heavy emphasis on "a little"), but I have no idea what I'm talking about, honestly.

She adjusts his arm around her shoulders, glancing at him in panic. He's slumped against her, and she feels like she's going to throw up. She rapidly knocks out the pattern on the pipe by the door, and it opens.

"Good Gloreth!" Grive exclaims, quickly allowing them inside. Ballister stumbles slightly, and she shifts to catch them and accommodate his extra weight.

"I've got you, I've got you. It's gonna be okay, Bal," she says, hoping that she's better at convincing him than she is at convincing herself. She turns away and looks at Grive. "Get Norshe." He nods and scurries off, and Charlotte leads Ballister further inside. They have a small designated medical area, but she knows it doesn't have what he needs. He's missing a damn arm. He could bleed out and die here. The thought makes panic rise in her stomach, but she pushes it away and gets him onto the shaky bench. She takes a moment to breathe, pushing her hair out of her face so that she can see properly, then moves to Ballister's other side. She removes the pauldron from his injured shoulder, and it's the first time she gets a good look at his arm. Or...Lack of an arm. She feels the blood drain from her face at the sight. Good Gloreth, Ambrosius, what have you done? She forces herself to focus, ripping off her belt. She loops it over what's left of his arm, then quickly starts pulling it tight. Ballister groans as she gets it into place, and she reaches over to brush his hair out of his face.

"I know, I know. But this is going to keep you alive, okay? I'm going to make sure you're okay," she says. His eyes crack open, and she feels what remains of his right arm twitch, as if he were going to reach for her with it.

"Ambrosius?" he calls, clearly delirious from the blood loss. She wants to cry.

"Good Gloreth." Charlotte turns her head, and Norshe is standing at the opening in the curtains, eyes wide. As Charlotte looks back at her desperately, Norshe quickly rushes inside. "We need to cauterize."

"What?" Charlotte exclaims. Norshe grabs a bottle of antiseptic and some rags, dragging a small cart over and setting everything on it.

"I need you to disinfect the wound. I'm going to heat up my knife, and we'll cauterize to stop the bleeding," she says, speaking in a tone that feels far too calm for the situation at hand. But Charlotte nods, feeling practically numb, and she quickly does as Norshe asked as her partner leaves again. Ballister hisses at the sting of the antiseptic, and Charlotte gently shushes him. She can't help but notice how her hands are trembling as she works. Norshe returns, her knife glowing from how hot it is. "Chari, I need you to hold him down while I do this." Charlotte nods, watching as Norshe takes her belt off as well, folding it before she encourages Ballister's mouth open slightly. Something to bite down on so he doesn't break his jaw. Once again, Charlotte feels sick. She reaches over to press one hand on his other shoulder, and her forearm presses down on his chest. She looks toward Norshe, who has her free hand on Ballister's shoulder. They make eye contact for a moment, then Norshe nods. Charlotte can't watch as she brings the burning knife to Ballister's severed arm, and she presses all of her weight down as Ballister tries to rear up, screaming from the pain.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry," she whispers, squeezing her eyes shut as she repeats it over and over. All at once, Ballister's body goes limp, and the screaming stops. She opens her eyes, tears blurring her vision, and looks at Norshe in panic.

"He just passed out from the pain. It's alright," she says. An awful burning smell reaches Charlotte's nose, and she turns away again to bow her head, forehead resting against Ballister's armor. Her only comfort is the erratic rise and fall of his chest, telling her that he's still alive. She finally lets out a sob, and then she can no longer stop herself.
