Top 10 books of 2023
My favourite books of 2023, in no particular order:
A House With Good Bones - T. Kingfisher
I was so disappointed when this didn’t win the goodreads choice awards for horror of the year. It’s so creepy and unsettling but in a uniquely T. Kingfisher way that somehow manages to still be funny and kind of cozy.
Wyrd Sisters - Terry Pratchett
Of all the Discworld books I read this year, this one was definitely my favourite. I feel like Pratchett started to find his stride in this one, which I noticed more reading chronologically. Also it’s a spoof of Macbeth, and I’m a sucker for anything with Macbeth jokes.
The Bone Season (10th Anniversary Revised Edition) - Samantha Shannon
I’ve loved the Bone Season series ever since I binged it in 2021, but the first book always fell a little flat for me. This revised edition fixed all the problems I had with the original. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a really unique fantasy/dystopia.
A Day of Fallen Night - Samantha Shannon
I love Priory of the Orange Tree, so I was a little hesitant about a prequel, but ADOFN somehow managed to surpass Priory. It’s a perfect high fantasy that spans many countries and characters, and features multiple sapphic characters, as well as bisexual, asexual, and other queer folks. This was my absolute favourite book of the year.
Stone Butch Blues - Leslie Feinberg
One of the most important queer novels of the last 50 years. So glad I read this.
Tell Me I'm An Artist - Chelsea Martin
This book found me at just the right time. It asks what it means to be an artist, and explores the intersections between the art world and privilege, and looks at the age old question; what is art?
Gideon the Ninth - Tamsyn Muir
I am so late to the Locked Tomb hype, and I can’t believe it took me this long to pick up Gideon the Ninth! The Locked Tomb is quickly becoming one of my favourite fantasy series.
Heartstopper Volume 5 - Alice Oseman
I waited all year for this instalment of the Heartstopper series to come out, and I devoured it in one day. Alice Oseman's work is always beautiful and heartfelt, and Volume 5 of Heartstopper is no exception.
The Well of Ascension - Brandon Sanderson
I dipped my toes into Sanderson's work for the first time this year, and I started with the Mistborn series. While the prose is not the most complex, the characters and setting are what truly drew me in. So far, The Well of Ascension is my favourite of the trilogy.
Nettle and Bone - T. Kingfisher
I read six T. Kingfisher books this year, with the first one being Nettle and Bone, and it's still one of my favourites. A weird dark fairytale with goblin markets, a quest to kill a prince, grave witches, an evil puppet, and a chicken possessed by a demon. What else could you want?

F1 drivers and which football team I believe they belong to
An absolutely (un)necessary thread
1. Charles Leclerc/Carlos Sainz: Chelsea FC
"Together or nothing, we come as a package. "... I know Carlos would be soo disappointed I didn't put him in Real Madrid, but they just belong in a team that is A. known as "Handsome FC" and B. is cursed with bad luck and players who don't fulfil their potential till they leave and thrive in other teams
2. Lewis Hamilton/Fernando Alonso: FC Barcelona/Real Madrid
Nando is a huge RM fan, and Lewis loves Barca... It just makes sense; GOATs and rivals and all that... Also, Mercedes, with all those years of dominance, really reminds me of Real Madrid and their European dominance and countless UCLs
3. Max Verstappen/ Sergio Perez: Manchester City
Team whose history is only recent yet has pure and ruthless dominance, is miles ahead of everyone else. To be even more specific, I think Max would be Erling Haaland. Checo, on the other hand, would be a player who thrived when he was in a rather small team (say Brentford), yet didn’t quite impress in Man City and is more of a substitute.
4. Lando Norris/ Oscar Piastri: FC Barcelona
Golden boys in a team with great history, they have immense potential yet great shoes to fill ahead of them. It's giving Pedri and Gavi with everyone waiting for the new Xavi and Iniesta. Wonderful bromance, great potential.
5. George Russell: Manchester United
Just very British... team with great history of dominance but is currently struggling. George is really talented but is still somehow slightly overrated... "British tax" and all that.
6. Alex Albon: Borussia Dortmund
Underdog team who reaches impressive levels because of its talented players. Deserves a better team but doesn't have a good record in better teams.
And that's part 1/11... Thank you for reading!

Ben Chilwell x fem!Ødegaard!reader
Summary: It's Norway's national day and he sees her in her bunad for the first time. He's just like 'wow' because she looks breathtaking.
Warnings: Swearing?
Note: English is not my native language. This is unedited

"Are you ready love?" Ben's voice echoed through the house her family owned.
"Yeah two seconds" She yelled back, finishing off her Bunad
(That’s the one she’s wearing)
She looked at herself in the mirror and smiled, she loved wearing it. It was so unique and quite comfortable, the only thing she absolutely hated was the Bunad shoes. She always carried chafing patches in her purse just in case.
She walked downstairs where Ben was waiting for her, her family had already gone into the city to chat with friends and families, as well as watching the different parades that filled the streets.
Once she reached the bottom of the stairs Ben looked at his beautiful girlfriend. She looked absolutely stunning. How could one look like that.
"You look absolutely gorgeous darling" He spoke walking up to her smiling like a fool.
“Like actually sweetheart, You look so beautiful. I didn’t know you would look this good” He said shocked. He wasn’t lying, she looked ravishing.
"Thank you babe" "You look quite handsome too" She smiled back.
"Handsome enough to get a kiss?" He asked teasingly.
"Hmm, no" She answered simply but before he could say anything she spoke up again.
"You can get as many as you want" She giggled as he smiled.
Leaning in and placing a loving kiss on her soft chapped lips, deepening the kiss by pulling her in by her waist.
"Æsj Kan dokkar slutte å være så jwl cheesy?" (Eww can you guys stop being so fucking cheesy?)
The voice made her pull away and letting out a scream. She turned around to see her older brother laughing at her.
"Oh my days! Jwl dritt unge" Thé girl huffed. (Fucking dickhead)
"Ja enig" Ben nodded making the two Ødegaard siblings laugh. Ben had tried his best to learn a bit Norwegian. (Yes, I agree)
"What are you doing here mate?" Ben asked Martin knowing that he left with the others an hour ago.
"I had to pee" He answered chuckling, the couple laughed at him.
"Are you guys going now?" He asked them
"Yeah, should we wait for you?" His sister asked making him nod.
***
As the Ødegaard family got home again and had dinner outside.
"Ben!" The girl laughed loudly at her boyfriend who was currently trying to do a stand together with her nephews.
Note the word 'trying too' he was totally failing. It looked like he was dying, his hair was a mess and his white button up was green because of the grass he had been laying on.
She laughed hard with Martin's girlfriend helene as Ben and Martin fell over yet again.
"Jesus you two are gonna regret that one day" Lene, her and Martin's mother told the two older boys.
"Yeah your football career is gonna be long gone" Y/N teased.
"Hey, if you weren't wearing a Bunad you would definitely be doing that as well" Her mother told her making the small group laugh as she rolled her eyes.
"They're not wrong babes" Ben said walking over too her and kissing her head.
"Yeah right" She huffed playfully.
"Mamma vi går rett ned på bryggen" She told her mom standing up. (Mom we’re going right down to the shore)
"Oki, vær forsiktig" Lene responded with a soft smile. (Okey be careful)
Y/N grabbed onto ben's hands and dragged him along with her.
"Where are we going?" He questioned with a slight laugh.
"Secret" She replied laughing as she continued dragging him down to the little shore they had outside their house.
“Me and Martin used to play football here all the time, and if the ball got into the ocean the one who last touched it had to go in and get it” She explained smiling at the memory.
“Let me guess, that happened quite often eh?” He asked smiling
“Well yes…but to be fair it’s not the biggest place” She defended herself.
“Plus if storm was with us he would jump in and get it for us” She giggled remembering their German Shepard as a little puppy.
“Poor storm” He shook his head frowning jokingly.
“Oh shut up, he loved it” She smiled placing her hands on his chest.
He smiled down at her, he placed his arms around her waist pulling her into him. She looked up into his beautiful blue eyes.
“I love you” He whispered leaning down towards her lips.
“I love you too” She closed the gap between the two.
