Decorating Contest!

So, here is the first Holiday themed story of the series! I hope you like it @catboy-official ! I had a fun time writing this and honestly had a hard time choosing on who I wanted to pick! But here you go! Enjoy!

Summary: You and the Bakusquad decide to have a Christmas tree decorating contest!

“What do you mean you want to have a tree decorating contest? Aren’t we all just gonna decorate the same tree?” Kirishima asked as you, Bakugo, and a few other of your friends were all hanging out in Kirishima’s and Bakugo’s living room.

“Eh, I have a few small ones that I like to litter about my home and thought since most of us were in couples we could do it based on the couples?” You said as you were the only one that wasn’t dating anyone in the group. You had been pretty set on staying single as your last relationship wasn’t great, but you cherished the moments that were.

“I’m not doing it.” Bakugo said as you pouted, “Awe, come on Katsuki… do it for me?” you gave him the puppy eyes hoping that would work.

“No, I said I'm not doing it now, leave me alone.” The grumpy blonde said as you sighed and looked over at Kirishima who was dating the angry blonde.

“Come on babe, you know you’ll enjoy this. I know how you’ve always wanted some type of competition with our friends, this is perfect!” Kirishima said as he nudged his boyfriend with his elbow hoping to get him into the spirit of things.

“What's the prize?” Bakugo asked you as you hadn’t thought that far, “Come on y/n what's our prize if we win?”

“Uh… the winning tree will be the main tree down stairs as we will decorate the big tree to look the exact same way.” You said hoping that would please the blonde who was still fuming with anger. He never really liked hanging out with anyone anymore and lately Kirishima had been saying he had been locking himself away in his room instead of spending time with him. It was like the holidays were just a no go and honestly you understood where he was coming from.

“Tch, I guess that will be fine, but I swear to Christ that if there’s more challenges I’m not doing it. I… have other shit I have to do and I just don’t want to waste time with you extras…” Bakugo said as his boyfriend gave a slight pout, “Not you idiot, you know I love spending time with you.” He kissed Kirishima on the cheek to comfort the red head.

“Alright, then it’s settled. I’ll go get the small trees and then we can start the contest, yeah?” You said as the whole team nodded their heads. Bakugo still mumbling under his breath as you hoped Mr. Grumpy Butt would change his mood, but for now you just had to deal with it because he was playing your little game of decorating the tree.

“Ooo, Sero, what should we decorate our tree with? I know tape and acid won't really go well, but what color scheme do you think would look good on a dark green tree?” Mina asked as she hugged her boyfriend around the waist. Mina and Sero had been dating since their third year in UA and already you could tell their relationship was going to last a long time.

“I was thinking maybe blue and gold or pink and white?” Sero stated as Mina nodded her head thinking about if she liked the first one over the second one, “What are you guys going for?” Mina asked as she looked over at Kaminari and Jiro.

“Maybe purple and yellow or Yellow and black? It’s sorta hard picking colors knowing someone else could be using the same color.” Kaminari said as Mina nodded her head once more, “What are you two love birds choosing? Is it going to be red and orange or orange and black?”

Kirishima looked at Bakugo who was already digging into the box of decorations and sighed. He didn’t like any of the colors that they had. He sorta wanted to go with the traditional look of gold and white or just all gold. Colors people honestly didn’t think he would choose because he was sorta flashy with his quirk and kinda loud with his mouth.

“Not sure to be honest. Listening to you guys go with your hero costume colors sound so cool, but honestly I was thinking a bit more traditional. Sure it's not flashy but sometimes the classics can be good. Ya know?” Kirishima said as he looked over at his boyfriend with red cheeks. He and Bakugo were definitely on the same wavelength that was for sure, but if you were the judge it was going to be pretty tough if he and Bakugo went the classic route.

“And I’m back. You guys ready to decorate some trees?” You asked as your friends started cheering. You were really excited to see which tree was going on the big tree this year as you were the one that had decorated it and was really proud of how pretty it looked. Your friends telling you, you should go into some type of home styling agency as you were really good at this. You just didn’t know if it was the type of job you wanted to do since well you didn’t have a quirk, but you didn’t want to be in doors all the time.

“Wow, look at you too, I’m surprised you went pink Sero. Was this Mina’s idea?” you asked as you looked at how much pink was really going on to the tree.

“Nah, I think the pink compliments the white on the tree so why not? Plus if Mina didn’t get one type of pink thing on the tree I’m sure she would have just added it later without me knowing.” Sero said as his girlfriend punched him in the air groaning “HEY!” as she was sorta upset he would think that way.

“Oooo! I like the yellow Kaminari! It suits you and Jiro quite well!” You said as you saw the little stars they were adding to the ribbon they were going to tie around the Christmas tree.

“Thanks! I thought the yellow would give it a spark!” Kaminari said as Jiro just shook her head trying to get the angel on the top of the tree to stand.

“And what are you two doing?” You asked as you walked over to Kirishima and Bakugo.

“We were honestly thinking about going the classic route. We know it might be a bit plain and not as flashy as everyone else’s but we think a classic Christmas tree would look the best in our living room, right babe?” Kirishima said as he glanced over at his boyfriend who was sticking his tongue out while wrapping a red ribbon around the tiny tree.

“Of course! If the judge doesn’t like our classic tree I’ll kill them! They have to vote for our tree. Its the best!” Bakugo started yelling as this was his typical behavior when he was competing against his classmates and friends, “And you all better be giving it your all! This tree is going into our living room and I wouldn’t want some lazy piece of junk standing there, you hear me?”

The group of friends all cheered, “YEAH!” as they went hard at work. Sero and Mina added more pink to their tree as when Kaminari added the lights to their tree it short circuited and caused half of the living room lights to go out.

“God dammit spark plug! This is the third time this week! Get your quirk under control!” Bakugo said as he stopped decorating the tree with Kirishima and headed to the basement to see if he could get the lights to come back on. His lips just mumbling away as he wasn’t too angry but you could tell he was tired of having to go downstairs just to fix the lights.

“Sorry I wanted to try the lights out on our tree and I guess it… just… caused me to spark… my bad.” Kaminari said as you gave a small laugh.

“Awe! I like the red and gold you and Katsuki have! It looks good, Kirishima.” You smiled as you walked around the small tree admiring it.

“Thanks! I thought so too!” Kirishima smiled as he gave you a sharp tooth grin.

“There, the damn lights are on.” Bakugo said as he sat back down next to his boyfriend who then continued to decorate their Christmas tree. The small group of friends just laughing, having a good ol’ time as you couldn’t really decide on which tree to pick. They all looked so good.

“Alright, you guys have ten minutes!” You sang as you walked over to the radio, turning it on and clicked over to one of the radio stations that was playing music. Your favorite Christmas song started playing as you hummed nearly singing it hoping no one noticed or if they did kept quiet as they wanted everyone to really focus on what they were doing.

“Babe, you wanna hand me that charm?” Mina asked as Sero nodded his head, handing her what looked like a heart shaped locket.

“Katsuki, can you hand me the star? I wanna put it on top!” Kirishima said as Bakugo growled low and said, “I want to put it on top. Let me.”

“Kaminari should we put this on here?” Jiro asked as Kaminari shook his head no, “I don’t think it fits the theme we got. How about we save that for our tree back at home?”

“Don’t ever think about taking that spark plug! That belongs to y/n, if you take that I’ll blow your head clean off, you got me?” Bakugo said as Kaminari shrank back into his seat as you shook your head, “So, violent… I question how you and Kiri got together. You both are like polar opposites.”

“Awe, y/n, that’s sorta mean… Bakubro got with me because he loves me… why else would he not wanna be with me?” Kirishima said as he hugged him close.

“Stop being so mushy, Shitty Hair, I got with you because you're manly… manly enough to be equal to me… now stop…” Bakugo said as there was slight pink to his cheeks.

“Awe, babe!” Kirishima brought him over by his cheeks and smiled, “You’re so sweet!” and kissed him on the lips.

“Yeah, yeah, whatever you say, Shitty Hair.”

“Alright! Time's up!” you said as everyone raised their arms up into the air and stopped whatever they were doing. The three trees looking pretty good as it was time to vote for who did it the best in decorating their tree, “Now, lets see… hmmmm…”

“Oooo! Pick ours! Its so flashy and bright!” Kaminari smiled as you walked over to their tree and started to judge it. The tree was pretty flashy and was super yellow.

“No! y/n pick ours! You know you like it just as much as we do!” Mina said as you walked over to theirs and eyed it down. You did like the color pink and how natural the tree looked with the colors. It didn’t hurt as much as Kaminari and Jiro’s but you couldn’t choose just yet.

“Come on, y/n, we don’t have all day, pick a tree already!” Bakugo said as his boyfriend kept rubbing his arm and hand trying to calm him down.

“I chooooooose…….” you sang as the radio started playing ‘The Twelve Days of Christmas’, “Bakugo and Kirishima’s! There tree just fits so right and I know its not flashy or quirky but come on, everyone loves a classic and if you don’t I think there’s something seriously wrong with you.”

“But the colors!?” Mina said as Jiro shook her head smiling. She knew right away y/n was going to pick Bakugo and Kirishima’s tree. It was going into their living room anyway and honestly seeing the bright yellow or pink clash with their house decorations would be an eye sore.

“Sorry, Pinky, rules are rules.” Y/n said as Bakugo starting cheering. He and Kirishima started picking out more decorations as they were ready to decorate the big tree. Y/n and the others joining them as this was nice. No one got shot in the face with Bakugo’s quirk and the trees weren't lit on fire. It was a great day… or was… “Kaminari!”

“Sorry! I promise to stop circulating….”
