what with the current Stuff happening, i figured i should remind everyone to download shinigami eyes here (for chrome, firefox, and firefox nightly on android) and to continue to flag transphobic and trans friendly pages!!! you can do that by right clicking on a link to the page you want to mark and selecting shinigami eyes -> mark as anti-trans/t-friendly . lets help keep the internet safe for our trans siblings!!! also it would be really fucking funny if we could get m*tt flagged as transphobic

Boycott Extension for Chrome!
I wanted to make a quick post letting everyone know about this extension for chrome that will blur out boycotted products on stores like Amazon!
This makes it a lot easier to boycott for Palestine, and can help give you peace of mind that you're not buying from a genocide supporting company that's just going under a different label.
Here it is:
https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/palestinepact/gengdkfcffpnjfolbcbhfiocemfinkem
The webstore page's description is very clear about what content they're blocking, so even if you can't actually download the extension, it's a very helpful guide!

AO3 tag downloader
You know that feeling when you look at a tag on AO3 and think: "Nothing is permanent. Losing a digital work is the same as if it had never existed. How can I preserve these works for future generations?"
Alternatively, you know when you find yourself browsing a tag and think: "I might as well download all of these works now—it will save me time because I'm going to end up reading every single one."
Have I got a tool for you! Behold, the AO3 tag downloader browser extension, hot and fresh in tasty Firefox and Chrome flavours. One easy click and it will begin downloading all the works for whatever tag you are currently browsing, in whatever format you prefer.
Note: while the downloader attempts to straddle the line of "don't make me wait unnecessarily" and "don't trigger AO3's 'please stop it hurts' reaction", the tool will let you know when AO3 is enforcing a backoff period before downloading can continue. Just leave the page open and allow it to do its thing.
Enjoy! Let me know if anything doesn't work the way you expect and I'll see what I can do about it!

If you're tired of Google cluttering up the search filter buttons with (ir)relevant keywords, I wrote an extension to help make the important ones more prominent in the hopes of bringing back user accessibility to Google Search Results.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's hosted on my github and you need to install it manually like any third-party extension, but it should work on Chrome and Edge.

Not usually the kind of thing I post, but!
I found a browser extension called postlight reader that helps remove ads and random distracting stuff from most websites. (It also helps get past paywalls on a lot of news sites). In my experience, it's very helpful if you have ADHD because I have ADHD and that's my experience. And obviously distractions are especially distracting if you have the distractions are eating your brain disorder. But obviously distractions and paywalls are pretty unilaterally annoying so. Here's a link in case it's helpful to anyone idk.

If anyone is annoyed for whatever reason by the shorts popping up in your Youtube subscriptions constantly, this extension is a great fix. They also have it for Firefox as well.

So I don't know if you guys know about Tabliss yet, but I just found this extension for Chrome and I absolutely love it. I got really tired of Google's unnecessarily big ass logo blocking out my backgrounds, so this is what I found. Hopefully it helps someone else, too!
Some of the features:
You can customize what widgets you want (widget list also includes custom CSS, NBA scores, quotes, weather, work hours, etc.)
Choose where you want everything aligned and the sizing for each individual widget
Customize the icons for your links
Choose whether or not links are hidden/shown by default (they're under my search bar, on the far right)
ADD YOUR NAME(S)??? (hello, LGBTQ+ friendly addition - I see you ❤)
Add custom messages, To-Do lists, and notes!!!
The literary clock is *chefs kiss* (I absolutely love that, because normal clocks are boring to me - but yes, you do have the option for a boring clock, too 😂)
Customize your background or choose a default theme, including from GIPHY, Unsplash, or sold/gradient colors
CUSTOMIZE YOUR FONTS + FONT COLORS???
Import / export your Tabliss so that you can switch between them, keep previous ones for archive purposes, etc.
Choose to full screen the page OR hide everything, so it's just a background, like below (controls are in the top left)

Introducing Alt Text Creator
Tumblr media
Images on web pages are supposed to have alternate text, which gives screen readers, search engines, and other tools a text description of the image. Alt text is critical for accessibility and search engine optimization (SEO), but it can also be time-consuming, which is why I am releasing Alt Text Creator!
Alt Text Creator is a new browser extension for Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome (and other browsers that can install from the Chrome Web Store) that automatically generates alt text for image using the OpenAI GPT-4 with Vision AI. You just right-click any image, select "Create Alt Text" in the context menu, and a few seconds later the result will appear in a notification. The alt text is automatically copied to your clipboard, so it doesn't interrupt your workflow with another button to click.
I've been using a prototype version of this extension for about three months (my day job is News Editor at How-To Geek), and I've been impressed by how well the GPT-4 AI model describes text. I usually don't need to tweak the result at all, except to make it more specific. If you're curious about the AI prompt and interaction, you can check out the source code. Alt Text Creator also uses the "Low Resolution" mode and saves a local cache of responses to reduce usage costs.
I found at least one other browser extension with similar functionality, but Alt Text Creator is unique for two reasons. First, it uses your own OpenAI API key that you provide. That means the initial setup is a bit more annoying, but the cost is based on usage and billed directly through OpenAI. There's no recurring subscription, and ChatGPT Plus is not required. In my own testing, creating alt text for a single image costs under $0.01. Second, the extension uses as few permissions as possible—it doesn't even have access to your current tab, just the image you select.
This is more of a niche tool than my other projects, but it's something that has made my work a bit less annoying, and it might help a few other people too. I might try to add support for other AI backends in the future, but I consider this extension feature-complete in its current state.

For those of you who want the real Twitter back
Add an extension. If you use chrome, go to chrome.google.com and find "Control Panel for Twitter". You will have the option to bring back everything to normal.
If you don't use chrome and extensions for your browser don't exist, then I wish you luck.
