how do i say
they say sobriety
will give me freedom
to have any life I dream of
but how do i say
the drugs give me the freedom
to feel anything I dream of

Do you think if a controller gets high does the yeerk also get to enjoy the high
I'm going to say yes, if for no other reason than Edriss's smug confidence that (it's implied) she's keeping Jenny Lines quiet with cocaine, and the contrast to her being way too invested in humanity. I don't think we see yeerks drunk, but we do see that poisoning a host will at least temporarily poison the yeerk (e.g. #21). So I think that yeerks can get high, and tbh I don't think they're protected by the blood-brain barrier.
That said, I love the headcanon that yeerks are confidently wrong about that. Sort of the way that for decades psychiatrists were like "of course I am just a neutral observer, I do nothing whatsoever to influence my clients" until ginormous heaps of evidence started piling up that psychiatrists can accidentally give clients memories or even entire mental illnesses. It's easy to assume that you're superior and just an observer, even in the face of contradictory evidence, and I think the yeerks would have that assumption.

Bruce’s expression in the third panel really truly captures the look of a child whose parent is known to be extremely sarcastic but also is entirely capable of the insane thing they just said, so you’re not sure whether they’re being genuine or not.

I present to you: my stash safe 💜
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It contains everything I need to snort or smoke drugs 🍃
Pretty much the only thing I need to get my hands on is narcan and then it's pretty much all done!
I'm so fucking broke now lmao, but at least I have a stash now and don't have to worry that much about bad withdrawals for now. (And yes that's about a years supply of fentanyl for someone like me with a low opioid tolerance lmao, got a good deal through my plug cause someone he knows buys from the dark web apparently and fent is dirt cheap, same with the coke, got a deal but as you might know coke is fucking overpriced)

what I love about the Ushers is, yes, some of them didn’t deserve it. Leo was just any drug addicted asshole who treats the people around him like shit but he clearly cared about his family even when they hated him and he grew up around drugs and addiction. Tammy was emotionally and verbally cruel to Bill and coerced him into a life he didn’t want but she did love him no matter how hard she tried to hide it and she wanted to be a better person. Lenore was just a girl who hoped for a kinder world for her mother and herself, who did nothing wrong but trust in her grandfather. That’s the point. Some of the children are horrible and violent and unkind and some of them are just people, messy, disturbed people. They deserved a chance just like anyone else. But they don’t get one. When somebody gambles your life before it begins, before you’re even conceived, you lose. When we let the rich and the powerful play God and do awful things, the poison seeps all the way down. Even to the good ones. Even to ones who could have been good. Nobody ever wins.

Scientists in Brazil, the world's second-biggest consumer of cocaine, have announced the development of an innovative new treatment for addiction to the drug and its powerful derivative crack: a vaccine. Dubbed "Calixcoca," the test vaccine, which has shown promising results in trials on animals, triggers an immune response that blocks cocaine and crack from reaching the brain, which researchers hope will help users break the cycle of addiction. Put simply, addicts would no longer get high from the drug. If the treatment gets regulatory approval, it would be the first time cocaine addiction is treated using a vaccine, said psychiatrist Frederico Garcia, coordinator of the team that developed the treatment at the Federal University of Minas Gerais. The project won top prize last week – 500,000 euros ($530,000) – at the Euro Health Innovation awards for Latin American medicine, sponsored by pharmaceutical firm Eurofarma. The vaccine works by triggering patients' immune systems to produce antibodies that bind to cocaine molecules in the bloodstream, making them too large to pass into the brain's mesolimbic system, or "reward center," where the drug normally stimulates high levels of pleasure-inducing dopamine.

Drug Dealer
I run to you
youre always there
and you know me too well
you see me, so weary and weak
and with no emotion
guide me through this hell
and with eyes so heavy
i speak of my sadness
wishing this all could end
youre the only one who truly
sees my struggle firsthand
with your eyes you tell me
you already know
as you give me a second
of comfort and ease
you'll never go
I'm angry I say
I keep letting Anna get away
and I can't stop destroying my life
further and further
all because of a drug
I've pushed everyone away
I'm so lonely it eats at me
and I'm angry at this
self infliction
I say all of this seeing if you'll ever leave
But you already know,
and you'll never go.
One glance and my eyes
tell you im sick
shaky hands and eyes exhausted
from lack of rest
i cant eat or drink
without getting nauseous
creating moments too shameful
I threw up on myself earlier
in the shower
but you dont ask questions
and i cant say it out loud
but you already know
and as you give me relief
i know youll never go

I often think about all the people who were forced to go through their periods before reliable painkillers were invented. I just had period cramps so bad, I was frantically googling ‘how to tell the difference between period cramps, ovarian cysts, and a cute appendicitis’ while waiting for the painkillers to kick in and trying not to throw up from the pain. And how period cramps were probably the least of their problems. Absolutely insane. How did we survive as a species.

No but I think it's both problematic and dangerous how many people seem to think that certain substances don't "count" either because they're legal or very common. Like the amount of people who smoke cigarettes, frequently get black out drunk or smoke weed several times a day or a combo of all three who have confidently looked down on me for occasionally doing coke like their substance use is inherently less problematic is wild and worrying

I think we as a society aren't paying attention enough to exactly how FUCKING TOUCH-STARVED Aaravos must be. That man hasn't been touched in over 300 years, probably more. If you hugged him he'd probably melt. Where are all my clingy!Aaravos fics? Huh? He should be constantly trying to either touch or manipulate his partner into touching him in some way. Pulling every trick he knows just to get some cuddles. Or just straight up demanding it because he's the boss or whatever makes it seem more in character. Give me an incredibly touch-starved Aaravos who cannot get enough physical affection after some poor fool gives it to him a singular time! Make him desperate after so many years being lonely in solitary confinement for high crimes and misdemeanors!
Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
