I think if you convinced Astarion not to ascend, he’s there for the Haarlep encounter, and you fail the CON check (push Haarlep away), he should lose his cool and fire an arrow at Haarlep or something and interrupt Haarlep’s magic, giving you another chance to fight instead. I do think the sex abuse survivor witnessing his friend or lover being coerced into sex would notice when they want to escape and would have something to say about it.

Fitzwilliam Darcy and Richard Sharpe ending up in an unexpected and uneasy alliance about hating Mr Wickham. Sharpe because he is a lazy and useless soldier not worthy of command, only good for showing off a new uniform and Darcy because for his deeper knowledge of his character due to their shared history. They end up having a most awkward conversation due to their lack of conversational skills but find themselves fond of the other United in disdain. Also Darcy finds it comforting to know that in worst case Sharpe could probably arrange sth to render his dear brother in law harmless for good. Without witnesses and maximum efficiency.

Darcy would never ask for such a thing. But knowing it might happen anyway gives him peace.

the thing is I do quite like individual stephen moffat episodes, I think they're good episodes. they get less good when you start to see patterns of writing and how he has a tendency of beating a dead horse + ongoing sexism which may be missed in one episode, but becomes very clear through repetition, but if one considers them as one-offs they're Neat bits of writing. it's when he tries to make it longform that it all falls to pieces for me and reverberates back. his lore is a mess and consequently so are his characters if one spends more than an episode or two with them.

I think sometimes Peach would get overwhelmed by her princess duties. She's a kind and patient person but she still has her limits and every now and again would get stressed over her job as ruler.

And then Mario would step in and encourage her to take a break. They would walk around the castle garden or have some tea. Peach is happy that she's finally getting a well deserved break (with her favourite person by her side 😉) and Mario is happy that she's happy ❤

Hot Take (or not) but we should have had an Astarion date scene

Let me prefix this small rant with the fact that I know why they have chosen not to give him an actual "date" romance scene. He never had or even entertained the idea of an actual lover, so he only reverted back to old tactics (seduction), and then later after he confessed he needed a deep introspection of what he really wants. It's perfectly understandable why his romance was built this way.

And yet...

I feel like he deserves to be treated to some mundane dating stuff. Especially since if you go with the non-ascended Astarion ending, he will probably not have this chance again to enjoy your company in the sun for a long while. Let me take my dear vampire on a nice stroll around the city, let him show me all the parts of Baldur's Gate that he always wanted to see in daylight, maybe we could even stop and do a little shopping, or sit somewhere and just hold each other's hands while staring at the bustling city. It would only reinforce the idea in him that we truly love him and not just his looks and sexual prowess.

Let him feel alive with us even just for a bit, the Elder Brain can wait.
