I wanted to prepare my imbolc celebration and a few other things but I guess I'll focus on sleeping and battling the fever. Not like I'm immune surpressed or anything.

Thank the gods I don't have to worry about calling in sick to work or contacting my doctor.

Coronabeth and Ianthe through a Cain and Abel lense???

Cain and Abel: basically the story of cain and abel is an important christian story from genesis is they were brothers. they both make offerings to God, but God only respects the Abel’s sacrifice and rejects Cain’s, leading Cain to beat Abel to death with a rock. When God finds out, he condemns Cain to wander the earth. He marks Cain’s head, so that no one can hurt him, depending on the interpretation its either a sign of protection or a symbol of shame.

And I think that in a lot of ways Corona and Ianthe can be seen as a twisting of Cain and Abel. And I think it can be argued either way so here’s my lil breakdown of each interpretation.

Ianthe as Cain- Here I would say the offerings are more beauty and love related. Corona’s offerings, beauty, warmth etc, are accepted and rejoiced in by LITERALLY everyone arojnd her. Ppl flock around Corona, she’s magnetic. Ianthe on the hand, is literally the absolute worst and no one likes being around her (said with affection). ANYWAY! Unlike Cain, Ianthe doesn’t kill her sister. In fact, its a pretty important part of the book that she kills Naberius instead. But I would argue that by killing and consuming and becoming one with Naberius instead of Corona, she is killing Corona. Ianthe is Corona’s world, she is Corona’s life and their relationship and autocannablism is Corona’s what Corona identifies herself with first. Corona and Ianthe have been trying to eat each other and pull themselves into the other skin their entire life. Refusing to do that is killing Corona’s identity, who she believed she was. From there, you can argue that her mark is Naberius in her eyes, a symbol and reminder of the life she took. And like Cain she’s doomed to wander for her sin. For the sin of lyctorhood, the resurrection beasts persue her, forcing her to wander as Cain did

Coronabeth as Cain- I think Ianthe as Cain is a more instinctive interpretation bc of her sadism and murderous instincts but personally I find Coronabeth as Cain really really fascinating.

there are still a couple of ways this can be interpreted. Both Cain and Corona are the older sibling. Corona’s birth is what leaves Ianthe without oxygen, which as Ianthe continuously points out in GTN nearly kills her and that is what I could consider Corona/Cain’s killing of Abel/Ianthe. In this lense we could see Ianthe’s necromantic abilities as the “offering” from Abel/Ianthe that God accepted bc its what drives a lot of the tension between the twins and what Corona/Cain lacks.

but a more interesting view, is one where Ianthe plays a dual role of Abel and God. Abel/Ianthe’s offering is Naberius and Corona/Cain’s offering is herself. Ianthe is the one who refuses Corona’s offering, playing the role of Corona’s God. Ianthe/Abel’s offering is accepted, while Corona/Cain’s is rejected. Ianthe ascends to lyctorhood through her sacrifice of Naberius. while Corona is left horrifed, angry and devestated that her offering isn’t enough. When does she kill Ianthe in this version? Ianthe states that she is doing “all of this” lyctorhood included for Corona, which could be Corona’s killing of her. And like Cain, Corona is then left to wander, joining the BOE but cast oht from her own home. Even then she’s still marked by the protection of Ianthe/God, who wont let her be killed.

No pronouns mentioned, and no Y/N used! Established romantic relationship fluff. Word count: 696 || Character count: 3629

He’d be kind of cautious coming in your room for the first time.

Raph's top priority is caring for you, of course, but he also wishes to avoid getting sick himself. He has brothers to look after!

That is, until you remind him that the virus had specific human tastes for its victims...

...he kind of stopped giving a damn after that.

This dude is all about making sure that you’re well cared for in every way possible.

Need new bedsheets because you forgot to change them for a concerning amount of time? Gotcha covered.

Craving food that actually provides the nutrients that you need? No problemo.

He’d cook you full meals with reasonable portion sizes whether you asked for it or not, you’re sick for Lou Jitsu's sake.

“Eat something real or perish,” said in the most cheerful tone.

Got a sore throat? Warm milk and honey and/or the perfect tea coming right your way, perhaps a cough drop as well.

Coffee is also made fresh each morning. No one needs to say anything anymore, this is just how it is now.

Body ache? Raph owns a concerning amount of painkillers, don’t worry you can have some too.

This guy provides you with desperately needed physical contact.

Snuggling and cuddling is lovely just don’t cough in your savior’s face please and thank you.

Raph is very flexible when it comes to cuddling positions! He doesn't care which you prefer, he trusts you to not hurt yourself on his spikes.

You can watch videos and shows and movies all you want, Raph will probably be asleep within 5 minutes anyway.

He doesn’t fall asleep on purpose! If he’s around someone he loves and if nothing extraordinary is happening, it’s a switch goes off and he’ll suddenly doze off.

His cute little snaggletooth pokes out when he’s asleep! You resist the urge to touch. Raph appreciates the effort.

Every time you start hacking up your lungs, Raph startles awake with a yelp.

You apologize the first few times but eventually you reached the conclusion that it was going to keep happening.

He likes giving you kisses wherever you’re comfortable with. Forehead kisses are soft, and Raph is a big fan of kissing your knuckles overdramatically. The way he kneels down makes you feel like the main character.

He will absolutely resort to bribery, threats and in very frustrating cases blackmail to get you to take a bath.

“I will steal your blankets if you don’t go and wash off. I do not care if you’re sick, I can and I will!”

Betrayal.

...You’d totally do the same thing.

Raph respects you as a person but he does not take shit from sad sack bath avoidance syndrome.

He would totally vibe with you in the bathtub if he could but alas, human bathtubs are tiny as shit.

If you let him wash your hair or back or something, he might literally cry.

He will cry if you tell him that you’ll genuinely return the favor.

You pinkie promise.

Your room is going to get aired out every once and a while, no ands buts or ifs. No stuffy air in this household! Or apartment.

Raph never knows how to refer to your place.

Raph and you get into the deepest discussions ever at midnight almost each day. Not really about heavy topics but y’all just get in the zone at around that time.

Hyperfixations and hobbies get talked about, real world news if that’s something you can handle. Raph has a lot of stories to tell about his life, and you don’t mind listening.

Whenever you decide to talk about something, Raph hangs on to every word as if his life depended on it.

He’s so invested in what you have to say, even if it’s quick or brief.

Your health improves over time, slowly but surely.

He’s so unwaveringly supportive.

Time flies by with Raph on your side.

This cough is killer. Varian's Relationships

Rapunzel

In my current AU (which is modern slice-of-life ATP), Varian is the son of Arianna and Frederic (who are part of city council here). He was adopted by them five years ago, after his father was killed by a faulty science experiment and spent a while in foster care

At this time, Rapunzel (who has the magic hair) was still kidnapped and living with Gothel. Unlike the movie she was allowed to wander about and even go to school. She goes to the same school as Varian (who's the same case as Hiro and went through school quicker than normal), but neither of them knew they were siblings. After Rapunzel does learn about who she is, she quickly starts to bond with Varian (who does not have an evil arc). She, him, Hiccup, and Jack all plan to attend the same college together after graduation

Arianna and Frederic

Varian doesn't have an evil era, so he does not kidnap anyone here. He's very close with his mother and respects her a lot as she's taught him very much, and encouraged him to do what he enjoys- chemistry (as well as reminding him to be careful, of course). She always makes time to listen to him when he infodumps, and is there when he needs someone to listen to him (aka the parent we all need)

Frederic is a bit of a tougher case. He is still very hurt over losing Raps, and so tends to be extremely overprotective at times. He just doesn't want to lose another kid, but sometimes that can put him at odds with Varian, who needs his space sometimes. Despite this though, he is still a loving dad and tries his best to make time for his son

Hiro and Camilo

Varian has gone to school with both of them pretty much his whole life, even before Quirin's passing. Hiro and him banded together in elementary school after a few too many times of being picked on by other kids for their academic abilities. Camilo joined their circle a bit later after being one of the few kids that weren't total jerks to them.

Hiro and Varian had high enough grades that they were placed with older students in HS, and are set to graduate at the same time as Rapunzel's level. Camilo is still a sophomore, and while sometimes he feels left out for not being 'smart' (although he is), he has the mindset that even if they don't talk every day, their friend group will still stay tight-knit. And it will! (I won't let them fall apart for angst)

Jack

Varian and Jack also went to the same school for quite a while, but until Rapunzel met her real parents, they never really interacted aside from maybe passing each other in the hallway a few times.

Jack met him a bit after Raps did, since he was still officially hospitalized. Varian was immediately intrigued by the former's white hair, and (with permission) has already done about four tests. Jack thinks he's pretty cool and sees V as a little brother figure

Krel

They met a couple years ago, when Krel and his sister Aja first arrived in town. Krel was put off by the weird human with big teeth who kept talking to him for some reason, but Varian was just thrilled to meet another person (besides Hiro) who knew a lot about his special interests. Eventually he decided Varian was alright and begrudgingly allowed them to become friends

One day, Krel's human disguise came off in the middle of school, on a day that was already going terribly for him. Varian was worried about his classmate/new friend and went to the bathroom to look for him (with the help of Ruddiger, who somehow manages to be snuck into school near daily). Initially, the Akiridion panicked because nobody else knew his family wasn't human yet. After some convincing to open the door, his secret was revealed and Varian was, thankfully, super accepting. They talked for a while, both explaining things to the other. Camilo and Hiro still haven't been made aware of Krel's (and Aja's, by extension) identity but will likely be told some day

Right now, they are still officially Good Friends, although there are feelings somewhere in there on both sides. Varian is readying for college, while Krel is still adjusting to Earth and trying to make his place. (Because I want it to happen) There is a high chance that after things settle down, each will take another evaluation of their relationship
