CW for descriptive speaking about body horror, blood, and overall lack of grammar
tl;dr the average painful-turning-into-a-monster-transformation-sequence media isn't whumpy enough and people need to dive more into shit like turning into merfolk and mutating into weird hybrids that are in the uncanny valley of "feels like my body but not"
also please note that this is all just my opinion and experience in media consumption and you are free enjoy what you like; im just bored and felt like rambling with 0 grammar or punctuation today.
hey guys I like seeing people go through intense painful physical transformations with an affect on their mental state that either makes them scared of them selves or forces them to do horrible things that also scare them and can I just say that werewolves are so underwhelming
like yeah sure you get taller and turn into a buff ass furry boo hoo go cry about it like most of the time you're not even aware and it only lasts for a fucking night
give me shit like turning into a siren/merperson where they have to feel themself molting and their skin squeezing on their body as scales start to grow and they start mindlessly scratching every where from the pain when uh oh your legs are failing but you can't think about that now until whoopsie daisy your lower limbs are melting together and your pants are magically whooshed away once you're past the nakey parts
also did I mention the wonderful possibility of growing fins everywhere and experiencing those tear through your muscles and skin whilst they grow on your back and arms and already painful and foreign feeling tail and also your vocal cords changing to be able to produce siren song shit in a way that makes your throat feel like its being mauled from the inside out oh yeah and also having your eyes fall out and regrown wouldn't that be a fun idea
anyways vampires are about the same except a little better than werewolves bc they at least have the possibility of dealing with "the hunger" tm and way more weaknesses that can make them miserable like not being able to be in the sun or eat food anymore bc your body can't handle it
one of the better examples ive seen is the one in ROTTMNT: The Movie, where (be warned of spoilers) characters are "possessed", so to speak, and this shit goes on
its a very good movie, highly recommend it (the sereis has two seasons, and I haven't found the movie off of Netflix)
also blood and struggling to adjust to a now permanent mental impairment/disadvantage/damage in a sense of "you're not human anymore and so you now have to deal with [blank] thought processes" (eg. someone gaining dragon shit would grow an affinity to hoarding things, not noticing such until their home is incredibly cluttered with piles of shiny items and hating themself for doing something so "inhuman")
things that ive seen that fall in the good transformation category are:
demons*
birds work most of the time, but you have to give them a beak and shit. also the wings can't just grow out of them painlessly.**
most fantasy based anthros, really.***
most mutations seen in TMNT shows (that shits known to be painful bc it alters your DNA mostly through science rather than the normal mystics)
bugs
*only horns and a tail? weak. give 'em goofy legs and a snout or some shit, spin in a few animal traits just for fun. mental side effects that are nice for these guys tend to be a sudden lust for darkness (or just a sudden intense lust)
**I recommend something like their arms falling off, OR something similar to the process in Haibane Renmei (tw for blood and minor body horror). An alternate option that I haven't seen would be to have the arms morph into wings themselves, but none of that grow feathers and get little longer bullshit. Character should feel their bones changing, the flesh forming to create a new limb and feathers piercing their skin like needles. Yes feathers are regularly soft, but imagine having a hundreds of tiny pinprick like things poking out of you and getting longer.
***this does not include fairies and unicorns. The only acceptation for these is character having weird magic fluxes and this becoming an effect of such. for example, if character is becoming a fairy, they will feel themself being compressed as wings either grow from their back or are summoned in a blast of magic that basically cuts them open where the wings "attach" so to speak.

[Trigger warning]: Mentions of death and body horror.
This post is about my understanding of William Afton's possession of the Springbonnie suit!
One of the very few headcanons that I have is that, after his death, William Afton possessed both the Yellow Suit and his own corpse. It was more of an obligation rather than a choice. If he wanted to move around as Springtrap, he needed to bear the excruciating pain. Possessing a corpse meant striving to become "alive" again.
That probably explains why his body didn't fully decompose, even after 30 years: because his soul continuously struck it with jolts of energy, forcing the severely damaged tissue to function under awful conditions (cell membranes rupture and spill their contents after death, but they were forced back together). Here's an illustration:
To me, Springtrap didn't die once or twice, nor a third time. He died thousands and thousands of times and kept on coming back.
"I always come back."
The springlocks weren't the only cause of his suffering. It was the hunger, thirst, lack of oxygen, sleep deprivation, and subsequent infections, paired up with the psychological effects of it all.

Something was in my eyes. I went and looked into the mirror and to my horror, there were eyelashes growing in both eyes. I then pulled the eyelashes out of my eyes, like you’d pull cat hair off of your clothes.

more cfau miscellaneous things because Childhood Friends Danny and Jason have my head and heart always and I need to finish rewriting chapter two dammit (and redo the half-finished chapter 4 because its just Not The Vibes). i'm almost through I need to get through the graveyard scene. (i just stubbornly refuse to have it be shorter than the original chapter and thats the little death. that is the mind killer.)
Danny and jason’s ghost forms both smell faintly like burnt flesh and cigarettes. However, Jason has a more smokey smell while Danny’s smells almost,,, electrical? In a sense? Like he just straight up smells like burnt flesh and sulphur while Jason smells like someone put him in a smoker first.
It’s very much an unpleasant smell but Danny finds an odd comfort in it just as much as he finds a comfort in the smell of nicotine.
(Jason post-revival smells burnt flesh once and is immediately offput by the fact that it brings him an instinctive comfort. He doesn’t realize its because it reminds him of Danny, and is uncomfortable by it.)
-
In an au of an au, Danny’s altercation with Rath ends with Rath regaining enough of his sanity to snap out of the grieving state and ends with him breaking down. Instead of being souped and imprisoned, Rath, who is permanently 14, decides to Move On into the unknown. He’s exhausted, heartbroken, and tired.
(Is this influenced heavily by the ParaNorman scene where he talks to Agatha and helps her move on? Yes. But it doesn’t fit with the Original Storyline so im shoving it into an Au of an Au.)
Rath tells Danny that Jason lied to them (which he genuinely believes), and that he’s tired of waiting/looking for him/grieving. Jason is gone. He isn’t coming back, he abandoned them. And he wants his mom and dad, and his sister, and his friends. And he’s ready to join them.
He leads Danny out to Gotham, which other than Amity Park might’ve been the only city left untouched due to Rath’s own mental block on the place. They go out to the park he and Jason used to frequent or up to one of crime alley’s rooftops, and there Rath lies down and goes to sleep. Only to never wake up again, materializing into nothing as his soul moves on.
Before Rath leaves, he forces Danny to promise him that he’ll only wait for Jason for ten years. After that if he doesn’t find him, or if Jason doesn’t show, then Danny has to move on. Whether that be like how Rath does, or if its inly mentally/emotionally, doesn’t matter. He has to move on. Don’t wait for him. Don’t waste his time any more.
(“Oh, and if you find him, kick his ass for me.”)
Danny reluctantly agrees, and Rath lies down. Danny sings to him as he falls asleep.
(Angsty points if the vigilantes including Red Hood caught wind of their presence and were silently watching from the shadows. Rath might know they’re there, but Danny’s too focused on Rath to notice.)
(If only so that Red Hood realizes that this is what happened to Danny, and that Danny is gone before he can make things right. The tragedy, folks. The angst. The initial realization that Danny was Rath, and then also that Danny was dead and has been dead for years, and that before he moved on, he moved on believing that Jason abandoned him.)
(like i said it doesn't fit in the original timeline/storyline hence why its an au of an au and isn't nearly a fleshed out, but i was largely just focusing on the tragedy of Rath moving on and Jason being alive to see it and realize just who Rath is.)
-
Just like how the Lazarus pits shot Jason's twiggy 4'6-5'4 (depending on what you find) feet tall and 86lb ass up like a tree an essentially fixed his malnutrition, the portal did the same thing for Danny.
(granted i forgot about malnutrition and danny's likely stunted growth at first -- his family lived in crime alley and despite both his parents working, I don't think they had enough food all the time. He probably wasn't as badly malnourished as Jason was, but he wasn't healthy either.)
Granted his ghost in its "natural" state (14) is short, and his growth spurts were slow at first, it did result in him reaching his dad's height. There were points where it just happened overnight, like a baby. He went to bed one night 5’6 and woke up the next day 5’10.
Jazz is shorter than him. Although I have't decided if she's even liminal at all (and if she is, it didn't cure everything because she would have also suffered childhood malnutrition, and since in au canon their parents didn't get their hands on physical ectoplasm until after they got to Amity Park. So the exposure is less.)
-
Danny's voice absolutely sounds like canon Dan's. It kinda just dropped one day when he was 16-17 and never went back up. Sam and Tucker sometimes ask him to just talk about anything because they find his voice soothing.
I'm not sure yet how Danny would feel about it at first considering Rath, but I imagine that Rath, when he did speak, would have had a quieter and scratchier/weaker voice considering he's spent the last decade shrieking and crying.
(and i suppose technically that shouldn't have any effect on his throat considering he's a ghost and idk if that would actually affect him, but i like the idea so im keeping it)
In the beginning you could hear him from a mile away by the sound of his loud, echoing wails, but ten years later you can only really hear him by the soft, shuddering sobs he makes. Like he's gasping for air that isn't there. The future is full of very quiet survivors.
And it's much easier to speak when you pitch your voice upwards (especially when whispering/speaking quietly) so he might've spoken in a higher, airy pitch in order to be heard. So Danny might actually find a comfort in having a lower voice.

In your theory about the Spring Bonnie suit possession, did Afton ever get used to it? Like after going through the pain long enough he was kinda numb to it? Also what are the situations in those thousands of times that he would have died and had to pull himself back together? Like if he got too tired and couldn't hold it much longer?
Very curious about this theory and it's also HORRIFYING
Although he's spent a really long time stuck inside the safe room, I don't think he has ever gotten used to the pain. I guess it only contributed to his hatred of the children. He took advantage of it, overpowering his own suffering with feelings of anger and resentment.
Spending 3 decades undead is one thing, but spending 3 decades undead and locked away from the world is another. In a sense, time stopped for him. If time stops, nothing changes, and so does his mind. There is not "enough room" for him to process any of those negative thoughts.
In regards to the multiple deaths situation, there's a way to exemplify it:
Imagine an anatomical heart. The resting heart rate for adults ranges from 60 to 100 beats per minute.
Now, imagine that the diastole (when the heart muscle relaxes) is a cell falling apart, and the systole (when the heart muscle contracts) is the cell being forced back together. Now, imagine a REALLY quick heartbeat. It's so fast that you could hear a quiet whirring sound, like a machine. Those are the cells, breaking and rearranging themselves over and over again.
You can't exactly get tired/notice time passing if you lack a reminder of the world moving on (e.g., scrolling on TikTok). Once Springtrap was freed, all the hate he'd accumulated spread over. Time was "unpaused". He left the loop and was allowed to move on, meaning he could eventually get tired.
Getting tired meant allowing himself to permanently stay dead, which he took a long time to do. At some point, he must've leaned against a wall in silence, in the same position he was found at Fazbear's Fright, and waited for the already deteriorated cells to succumb. I think that's how he died.

Dude your au seems very cool! Tell me more about your chapter 4, you write homoherotic tension, so you must elaborate!
Completely fair
Of course, all this is subject to change, but for now, Chapter Four is literally “darkest hour” where Henry is dropped into the darkest part of the studio. This unfathomably large place hosts, among other things, a cult run by Mr. Prophet himself!
The entirety of this chapter is trying not to get brutally murdered and sacrificed to the ink demon, as well as a lore dump. Henry is in constant surveillance, so it is important to be sneaky.
Sammy gets an upgrade in this chapter, as you could probably guess. He’s now officially 7 feet tall and has taken and covered himself in countless of his followers’ bones. His role is the same as his role in normal Chapter 2 (to sacrifice Henry), but just in a bit of a different place, and he’s much more threatening.
Besides that, he has much more screen time whether you decide to talk with him or not: As said before, you have to sneak around, and one of the people that can find you is Sammy, which leads to an instant game over.
As for the homoerotic tension, that’s mostly because he wants your blood and has even more time to wax poetic about his lord and savior in your face.

A Hat In Time OC drawings part 4 the Angst
the idea stems from snatcher doing anything he can to fuck with lurker bc of their issues with one another. Sai being made of paint means she's very sensitive to the cold, and gets hurt because of snatcher egging her on to mess around despite Lurkers protests this severely injures her and Snatcher hadn't intended for her to get hurt. Lurker refuses to let him see her. side note of this is snatcher is pathetically and madly in love with her, so its a lot help oUGH
Lurker belongs to @chocowhomps
