#dialogue in the FIRST ONE was okay. dialogue in the manhwa was good

Yyess, I have found another scanlation group that has translated manhwa chapter 109 of trash of the count's family. Asura scans translations has been fluctuating wildly in quality since season 3 started. The latest chapter 109 was almost unreadable if it wasn't for the pictures. It feels like the one who translated the chapter doesn't know what the story is about or cares either. I'm not really sure. But I know it's not a good sign when many characters names are spelled in a new way each chapter. And if the dialogue isn't off, then they say the complete opposite of what they were supposed to say instead.
It makes me sad to think that people are going to get turned away from tcf because they won't understand what the story is about or they even might think that the story is bad and doesn't make sense.
Tcf is an extremely good and well-written light novel, i promise. I have read all of it.
You can find the newest chapter 109 on a website called LSComic
This translation looks good and I finally understood what was going on in the story again after reading it.
I haven't looked too much into their earlier translated chapters but so far it looks quite good.
Of course their translation isn't as fast as asura, it seems to take a day or two more, I still use asura to look at the pictures of the new chapter since it's out first.
I hope it's okay that I'm coming out with all of this I just really wanted people to know.

Writing Pattern Tag Game
Rules: List the first line of your last 10 posted fics and see if there’s a pattern.
(saw this on the TL, thought i should do it since i probably won't get to do it otherwise lol, so here we go)
1. i'll keep you close to me
Ray Pakorn is a rumour flying on the summer wind.
ship : sand/ray, only friends
2. here i stay, pray
It's a song Ray doesn't know. But it doesn't matter.
ship : sand/ray, only friends
3. secrets i have held in my heart
The sudden flash of want that zips down his spine upon hearing that quietly curls up and sits low in his belly as his eyes fall upon Sand's face, and that is the first time the thought creeps in.
ship : ray/sand, ony friends
note : the actual first line is a direct quote from sand in OFTS ep. 12, so. not counting that.
4. i dreamt of you last night
Amidst the pitter-patter of an unsurprisingly wet London afternoon, a pigeon outside his office window coos.
ship : yohan/moogyeong, the shape of your love (manhwa, park nodeok)
5. take my whole life too
In the aftermath of it all, when Katsuki wakes up in the hospital, groggy with painkillers and various other drugs, he oddly still feels his right arm.
ship : katsuki/izuku, boku no hero academia
6. i'm feelin' heat in december (when you're 'round me)
This is the scene Aoyama walks in on when he is the last one to come out of the showers : The Urawa Reds Football Club is gathered in their locker room and the boys are on cloud nine — they have won the first game of the season and it's a very good start too.
ship : zaizen/aoyama, keppeki danshi! aoyama-kun
7. we'll meet in the spring
Moogyeong is forty-nine, pushing fifty, and is seated alone in a cafe with a cup of coffee that has long gone cold.
ship : yohan/moogyeong, the shape of your love (manhwa, park nodeok)
8. and the world sang along to it falling apart
“Sir, we are here.”
ship : yohan/moogyeong, the shape of your love (manhwa, park nodeok)
9. just me and the stars can get lonely
There is a moon in the sky tonight, round and hanging low, bright like the bottom of a firefly, casting a soft glow on a sleeping town while Yohan sits awake and misses love.
ship : yohan/moogyeong, the shape of your love (manhwa, park nodeok)
10. all my love to give
“I do,” Yohan’s voice echoes within the walls of the packed church.
ship : yohan/moogyeong, the shape of your love (manhwa, park nodeok)
pattern :
huh. okay, i have thought actually, for a long time, that there's some pattern alright but never gave it that much importance. i think it's mostly something that lands the reader right in the middle of the story? or at least like, bait, yanno? i don't like starting with too much descriptive text, that i am aware of. so it's mostly either dialogue or something that hints directly to the story so that the reader won't be bored to death before they even begin reading.
at least that's my usual thought process when i sit down to write. huhhhh.
I'm also very surprised i've written 41 fics till now. that's not a lot, but at some point when it was just 11 fics, i was wondering if i will ever write more. guess i did. this is also your sign to not quit your art!!! keep going!! fighting!!
(p.s. : I'm much happier with my writing now than i was when it was 11 fics, or even 20, or 30.)

(these are also the few people who i know have an ao3 for writing, apologies if you actually don't write and i got confused lol)

It's B from @bang-tan-bitches and I would like to request a yandere fic. It can be BTS OT7 x reader or BTS member of your choice x reader. Similar to your amazing isekai story i would like something similar(a long one shot or a multi-chapter, your choice). Whether YN transmigrates to a game or a novel (not as a villain but maybe as a cannon fodder side character that has little importance to the story and just wants to lay low) but YN captures the attention of the love interest(s) and shit starts getting weird, intense, uncomfortable. Maybe it causes the supposed female lead to turn into the villain, maybe it causes the love interest(s) to turn into the villain(s). Maybe YN realizes that something is wrong with the story/game but can't figure it out. Idk. Time period doesn't matter. Modern. Ancient. Fairytale. Fantasy. Whatever.
If you can do this great! If you can't or don't want to, that's okay too. You're an amazing writer with so much talent and I'm really appreciative of all your work. Thank you for taking requests from your fans, I'm sure you've received a lot.
Take care! 😘💜💜💜
at the start of the pandemic, I was getting back into manga and manhwa and then after a few months, I dawdled off but recently, I’ve been getting back into it again haha so this request came at a pretty good time. Hopefully you won’t mind that I’ve taken some creative liberties with this request lol I think it’s more fun if I keep readers on their toes, including the requester.
On another note, I really shouldn’t be writing all my isekai’s with Taehyung as the main lead but he’s just so fitting asdfghjkl

You are a tutorial character.
But you weren’t always. You still remember being a career woman in the twenty-first century, struggling with overtime and paying bills while trying to keep yourself fed. The success of that ranged from month to month. But more importantly, you still remember that night too.
It was rainy. Your car blew a flat tire. You pulled to the side of the highway and got out.
The last thing that registered was the deafening honk of the semi-truck.
Then you felt yourself flying upwards.
But when you landed, instead of colliding with the concrete and dying upon impact, you fell back onto your ass in the middle of a market on a dirt road. Transported back a thousand years ago.
Your purpose was fulfilled in the next two minutes.
“Are you alright?”
The male protagonist had stretched out his hand and helped you up. The hero. The main character. It was obvious with his bright red hair, shining eyes and bronze armour. He was so starkly different from the rest who were gray and drab, including you who was suddenly in a brown shapeless dress. He was practically a neon billboard in the middle of a graveyard.
“Are you Y/N?”
You looked at him, befuddled that he knew your name. But before you could even respond or provide a line of dialogue, he said, “This is a delivery from Baker Jeon. He gives you his thanks.”
The protagonists handed you a loaf of bread. Undoubtedly his first ever quest.
You looked down, not sure what to do with it.
“Do you know where the blacksmith is?”
You had absolutely no clue. But there was the deafening noise of hammering steel literally ten steps away. You would have to be blind not to see the gruff man shaping a sword at an anvil right on the road and deaf not to hear it. As if that wasn’t enough, the literal sign of the shop read: ‘the blacksmith’.
So you pointed.
“Thanks.” And he trudged off.
You were utterly confused until a background character who said they knew you waved you over. You shared your bread with her, brushed aside when she asked you what was wrong, and you followed her as she walked up to your supposed cottage.
All the while, you saw yourself in the background of the hero’s main quest as he ran through the town.
And that was that.
It wasn’t so hard to figure out where you were or what the hell this was when you put your mind to it. Without much of a job or a family, and no technology but the candle that you had to conserve when night fell, there was ample time.
So you spent it thinking and you eventually solved the mystery.
You were in Beast Boys Harem: A Forbidden Embrace. AKA. a dumb yaoi otome game app that you downloaded on your phone when you were sixteen and bored. You remember because you were too cheap to buy the routes, so you played the tutorial, prologue and read the summaries of the routes online. Now you regret that you didn’t just fork over the goddamn five dollars.
Even more than that, you regret that you even downloaded the game in the first place.
But at least you’re just a tutorial character. You’re free from the storyline and the plot—
That’s what you thought.
Turns out living a thousand years in the past in a fantasy realm as a woman didn’t bode well. It was probably no different from how it would’ve been like in the medieval ages. You had no trade skills. No one was willing to accept you as an apprentice when you were a woman. You found that you were essentially illiterate with a reading level of a preschooler, no one was willing to teach you, and you had no power or wealth when you were without a father or a husband.
And you’re certain what the landlord and tax-collectors are doing is illegal.
But in this world, in this unjust realm, there is no such thing as the law.
“We know you’re in there!”
You jolt from the heavy pounding on the frail wooden door.
“It’s time to pay up!”
Your hands tremble as you set the candle down that’s still billowing of smoke, the flame smothered out mere seconds ago. As much as you want to hide and pull the blanket over your head, you know that door won’t last. They’ll find you if you’re trapped in here.
“If you can’t, spread those legs of yours!” a low voice spits and there’s chortling from the men.
Someone adds, “Sell your body already!”
“Open up! Damn whore!”
Without a single possession but the white nightgown clad on your body, you open the latch of the back window. You cringe at the squeak, trying to keep your movements quiet before the door gives way.
You hoist yourself up onto the window ledge. The door bends with the strength of multiple clenched fists against it. Your feet touch the soft grass outside your cottage. The men shout.
And the door finally slams against the wall, hinges broken.
But by then, you’ve slipped into the shadows.
“Where is she?!”
The blanket is ripped off the bed, curtains are whipped back, every drawer dumped onto the ground and cupboards yanked open. The floor shakes with the weight of their boots and you press your palm to your mouth to silence your panting breaths, slowly stepping away.
“That damn whore slipped through us—!”
But as your shitty luck would have it, a sudden crack has the whole world coming to a standstill.
Shit. You look down at your feet, realizing that the snapping noise came from you stepping on a twig. And it’s exposed your hiding place.
“There she is!” — “Out the back window!”
You grab fistfuls of your dress and bolt.
“Get her!”
With your cottage on the edge of town, there’s nowhere to run but through the dense woods. It’s shrouded in the darkness, no doubt filled with wild beasts creeping through the thicket. The rustling canopy of the trees doesn’t allow the dim, waning moonlight to illuminate your path.
So you’re left blind. Struggling up the high incline of the forest, feet slipping on dirt and mud. But you keep sprinting with all your might, even when the pointed, coiling branches scrape at your calves until blood sheds and the hem of your dress tears in the underbrush.
“Run, little rabbit!” one of them mocks, “Run!”
The four men continue to give chase, gripping onto their roaring torches, shrieking and howling after you. One of them is manically laughing as if your efforts to flee only adds to the thrill. Their greased hands reach out to snatch you, but the tips of their fingers graze the ends of your hair.
Your teeth are sunk into the bottom of your lip, sobs breaking through your aching chest. Your lungs burn, dying for a break or moment of relief. But you don’t relent and luckily, you manage to build distance between you and the men. Only, that luck comes crashing down by a fucking hole.
A hole in the forest floor that you don’t see. That has your footing all wrong. That makes you scream and fall.
You twist your ankle in a direction it’s definitely not supposed to be in and cry from pain.
A second later, you force yourself to get up and keep running with tears flooding your eyes and dripping down your cheeks. But it’s more like limping than running, akin to hobbling on one leg and every movement has pain shooting from your swelling ankle.
The effort becomes futile. They surround you within minutes.
“All finished?” The tax-collector’s head cocks with a spreading grin. “You’re not going to keep running?”
Why couldn’t you just fucking die the first time?! Even if it was an awful death where you didn’t have time to prepare yourself or say goodbye to anyone, at least it would’ve been the end. At least you wouldn’t have to suffer.
But there’s no time to grieve. Or hate the new life you’ve been given. This is it. You have to keep going. You have to survive. By any means. You’re about to pick up a branch and uselessly wave it around at them, shout at them to stand back. Anything that you could do to save yourself—
“Who dares come onto my mountain?!”
There’s a deep timbre behind you. A husky voice that quivers the very core of the forest.
As if the wind has swept through, the trees and thicket rustle and it goes silent.
The men fall back onto their asses, some torches clattering to the ground. Their eyes have grown double in size, nearly falling from their sockets and their jaws have dropped to the dirt.
“I-It’s the nine-tailed fox!”
The man scrambles back.
“Demon!”
Another barely manages to get onto his feet. He turns around and lurches away while shrieking.
They all run. Scattering away as frantically as cockroaches when the light is flickered on.
From your spot on the ground, you turn around with wide eyes.
Amber irises meet your gawking and they practically glow in the darkness of the forest. He is dressed in a loose, white robe that’s draped over his frame, open to the middle of his chest. And over his honey hair, on the top of his head, his pointed golden ears twitch. By the torch fire still yet to die out, he is illuminated and his shadow is casted on the ground. The blazing flame warms his cold, sharp features.
He is the most beautiful person you’ve ever seen. In both worlds you’ve lived in.
And you know who he is.
Taehyung. One of the love interests of the hero. A seductive, sly creature that eventually coaxes the hero into selling him his soul to grant one of his wishes. But Taehyung grows to become an obsessed character that wants to do nothing but monopolize and possess the hero for himself.
That same Taehyung approaches you with his lip curled as you teeter to your feet.
“Run away, girl.” He leans close. “Before I eat you.”
“Stop!”
On sheer instinct and adrenaline, you push him back. Your palm shoves against his firm chest.
Taehyung stumbles back with his eyes becoming rounded. He looks down to where you had made contact against his body. “Did...you just touch me?”
“What?”
Taehyung’s head darts upwards and he captures your wrist in his hand, squeezing tightly. He tugs you in and on your swollen ankle, you stumble into him. Bodies flush against one another. Your face pressed to his warm chest. His arm coming around your waist to break your fall.
He is aghast.
“You’re not from this world.” Taehyung’s yellow eyes swirl as they gaze into you. “Where did you come from?”
It’s been three days.
“Wed me,” he begs for the seventy sixth time.
You don’t know why you’re keeping a count.
“No.”
You’re hugging your knees for warmth. The rice paper-paneled doors are slid open and letting in the chilly air. He doesn’t seem to be affected by the cold, but you don’t look at him for long.
You turn into the corner of his home while sitting on the tatami floors as if you’re putting yourself into time out. But you’d like to say it’s your privacy corner. It’s as private as this abode, which was basically one room, could get.
Taehyung sighs in frustration, placing his hand on his forehead. His teeth grit. “You’re only making this harder for yourself.” Your silence angers him more. “You can never leave.”
You turn over your shoulder to glare. “Even if I married you, you’d never let me leave anyway.”
Taehyung narrows his eyes on you and then smirks. “You’re right. Wed or unwed, I won’t let you out of my sight. You should feel grateful, girl. You’re the best human I’ve ever treated.”
You quietly scoff.
Maybe you should feel scared. Maybe you should tread more lightly. After all, he’s not a character to be trifled with.
But you know he needs you. That alone gives you power.
As a beast, Taehyung’s been trapped on this mountain by priests for centuries. The only way he can be free is by feeding off of sexual energy and breaking the barrier. But of course, they also cursed him to be unable to touch any woman in this universe.
You aren’t from this universe.
You jolt when you realize that while you were lost in thought, Taehyung’s crawled closer. He has a foxy smile, amber eyes searching your expression. “Maybe….maybe I’ll grant you a bit of freedom if you would just give into the temptation and let me have a taste of you.”
As cold as he looks, he is beautiful. He is mischievous when he smirks and sly when he speaks. You are utterly spellbound as you look into his irises. And the temptation he speaks of flickers in the warmth of your belly.
But you turn away.
“I already said we only do that kind of thing after marriage. And I will only marry someone I love.”
Taehyung draws back with an unamused scoff. “What a prudish world you’re from.”
He wanted you the moment you were brought to this house. With the intensity of his stare and your captivated state, you had let him pin you to his floor and you liked it. But then clarity came and you blurted that such an act only happens after marriage. A lie just to buy time.
You didn’t expect for the hero to arrive at Taehyung’s house the next day. With his red hair and bronze armour, he had gotten lost in the forest and knocked on the door. Before you could limp over and answer it, Taehyung jumped off the roof and confronted him.
The guy was thrown off the mountain within five minutes.
It wasn’t supposed to be like this. They were supposed to have a steamy rendezvous. Taehyung was supposed to get the sexual energy from him!
The story was going off the rails. And you’re not sure what you’re even buying time for anymore.
The both of you know it’s only a matter of time before you break and succumb to his mesmerizing seduction.
Taehyung is cruel, ruthless, obsessive.
But what’s the most bewitching thing about him is the jarring contrast of when he’s clumsy and nurturing. It’s what he regards as his own weakness. What he hides from others. But you felt your heart waver two nights ago when you were shaken awake in the middle of twilight. When you peeked open your eye to see him gingerly wrapping your swollen ankle with bandages.
He looked beautiful in the pale moonlight, ears, tails, sharp features softened—
“Ow!” You wince as he squeezes your ankle, right on your injury.
“You think too much in your head,” he says and looks at you. “What’s wrong?”
“It hurts.”
A sadistic smile tugs on Taehyung’s lips. He lets go, but only to lift your chin with his fingers. His plush lips are inches away, his breath warm on your skin and he gazes deep into you. “I won’t let you return to your world. I won’t let you run away. I won’t let anyone harm you.”
“You’re mine now.” Taehyung swears, “You’ll fall in love with me eventually.”
You gulp and he smirks.
The two of you know it’s only a matter of time.

Hi dearest Saint! Hope you had a great day and sending you all 💕 I have a question and not sure how to ask u after all the recent things that happened on ur page. Forgive me I don't want to give off bad vibes, I'm just worried.
It kinda worries me these few days after an anon reader of mine slide in a message, nothing dramatic tho, but just politely asking me if I'm inspired by SN/SY. And then I also saw this Ask of yours and I get a bit more concerned. So I decided to let you know first.
I'm currently writing a jjk fic in a form of otome game styled with different endings. Similar to fate series and Mystic Messenger game with diff endings. But at the moment it started off with Gojo. In contrast to SN/SY, it's the FL that is amnesiac. And also their marriage was a marriage of convenience, consented and not arranged. I do understand that amnesia and arranged marriage genre are quite common in romance melodrama.
So, I think I understand why the anon reader send me the message. Fortunately, the reader is quite polite though, not toxic.
I read sn and sy and followed the entire journey last year. I'm not gonna lie, your writing inspired me to write again. I used to write fanfic about 8y back when I was in college and then I stopped and deleted my acct because of lack of time and work but, I still sumtimes read on Tumblr. I didn't write until last year as I was going through so many things and I found SN. Omg how you wrote it just brings back the fire in me, and I tell myself, you used to love to write, just why don't u enjoy ur old hobby again.
To be very honest, I've read so many manga/manhwa and watched kdrama/jdrama, played otome games and read light novels so I mix and match some stories from here and there, to come up with a plot for my fic and I'm worried if other readers might try to exaggerate and create a drama of a copy/plagiarism issue.
So, I want to be honest, I'm not trying to copy sn/sy, I love your touch in the fic so much I don't want to have a bad relationship with u. If you don't mind, I might want you to see if what I have here right now can cause a problem in the future, which I really want to avoid. If you have suggestions I'm open to amend, even if I have to drop this and start a new one. I really don't mind.
I'm so sorry, Saint. I know recently there's too many things going on. I don't want to add on any so that's why I come to inform you because I don't know, I just have a bad feeling if I continue on writing and then one day, baam someone just had nothing good to say and then boom drama happen. TQ for your time to read this. I can't send you a message so I send in an Ask, I'm sorry for that. You don't have to post this Ask, you can also drop me a message. Thanks Saint 😘.
that’s okay!! thanks for reaching out to me. keep writing as long as it makes you happy <3 what i just don’t particularly like is when people copy the flow of sn/sy’s plot, copy direct dialogues and quotes, and basically use my series as a template for their series (without credit and/or speaking to me abt it first).
sn/sy has lots of inspos too and i make sure to put that on the series masterlist as well as the faqs page. i guess you can do the same with whichever inspos you have for your series :)

AYO GUYSSSS I BRING A VERY FUCKNG GOOD NEWS! THERE'S A NEW MANHWA AND WHAT GOOD IS
Tumblr media
THE PLOT AND THE BOTH MC IS SO F ING SMEXYYYY! KYAAAAA!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Insert confused bi scream)
Source: I Didn't Mean To Seduce The Male Lead
Description:
A baroness who lost her husband at an early age. I’ve possessed the body of “Eleanor Maurice”. But in the original story, I have a mere four lines of dialogue! After pouring my blood sweat and tears, I’ve finally been able to achieve a respectable position within this society. To this prestigious Eleanor, I’ve been offered a sweet deal. If I’m able to introduce the male lead to the female lead and help the original plot come true, you're telling me a huge sum of money will be well within my reach?! Hoping for a promising future, I head to the male lead, ‘Leon’s’, residence but… “Your problem is…” “I fell in love at first sight with you that other night.” You don’t understand, I only went there to kill two birds with one stone! Condemned as the nation’s scandal maker despite her futile justifications, introducing Eleanor’s heart-throbbing yet bitter tale!
My review and why I recommend this manhwa:
Why I recommend this manhwa? first of all, of course because IT'S SO F ING SMEXY BISHH WTFFF
Tumblr media
I MEAN WHO WOULDN'T GET CAPTIVATED IF THE PROLOGUE CONTAIN AN IMAGE LIKE THIS ASDFGHJKL
And what about the FL? Gosh I LOVE the FL attitude SO MUCH! SHE IS SUCH A QUEEN DAMN! Even though the count bastard man forcefully married her and she eventually get harassed by her husband family for venting their anger at her after her husband die, she get the confident to stand up and make her name for herself by taking advantage of her own talent and making money out of it! And yep! She has such a confident and a goddes like beauty!
And the ml is such a lovely man! He always get blushy around the fl (dawww) and yk what? The fact that the FL is his first crush make this story much much better!
What about the plot? Well I can say that it's pretty good, not so fast nor slow, even if the snu snu scene is accumulated pretty fast than what I expected°///° but it's okay ig, as long as we Readers (with kink) enjoy it, why not~?
And if u want some spoiler, ehem, u can read the novel because in the novel, the snu snu scene is more detail so😏
So the conclusion is.., I REALLY RECOMMEND THIS MANHWA the boldness, the sweetness, and the way the story goes is so balance and make me want to wait for more! So try it out kay?!
Much love💕💕

Hi! I want to have comprehensive list of the BL manga/manhwa etc. that I’ve read because I want to spread the love for this genre 💜.  This post is a list of works that I’ve read which is not in this page yet + my comments on each work. I hope some people will find something that they like here ^__^
🐣 All BL recs from me
manhwa  🐓
💜 Never Understand
Yuri, one of the school's most handsome guys, and Jaerim, one of the school's ugliest, collide!...or don't they? Can't understand what's going on between these two! It's Out of Control!
shounen-ai, completed, 87 chapters
Tumblr media
THE STORY IS SOOOO GOOD. The art also improved by a lot upon reaching the later chapters. Jae-rim is dubbed as “ugly” (he’s a whole cutie tho) and I’m glad to see a non conventional character design for an MC! I highly recommend reading this!!  👌💯
Incorrigible
A sequel to “Never Understand” which is focused on Cho Ayeon’s story after being free from Soyeon’s control.
yaoi, completed, 8 chapters
Tumblr media
This has few chapters so maybe that explains the fast pacing. Nonetheless, it was a nice read, I have a really soft spot for Jae-rim so seeing his r-18 experiences with Yuri really got me ahkdjashdkajshd ;W;
💜 Dirty Vibrations
Best friends Yeong and Nohae thought it was a joke when they downloaded the infamous “cursed” app. It’s said to command the user to perform…sexual acts and punishes those who disobey or delete it. It started with making them kiss. When they disobeyed its order…the punishment was anything but a joke.
yaoi, ongoing
Tumblr media
This one is from Fujoking (author of Youjin)! In all honesty, I love this for its sex scenes. They are so well made, the art, the dialogue, the expressions, and just *chef’s kiss* 👌. When it comes to expressing sexual scenes in BL, my top authors would have to be Fujoking for manhwa and Zaria for manga.
💜 Paid
Executive director Heejae is nicknamed "Chaebol Prince" by the public. But his life is turned upside down when documents linking him to an embezzlement scheme are unexpectedly found by an accounting collegian Taekyung! So he pretends to have a crush on him, but.. Taekyung wants more than just flirting!
yaoi, ongoing
Tumblr media
This is another one from Fujoking! This has a heavier plot as compared to Dirty Vibrations, so you get amazing smut AND an engaging story!
💜 On or Off
Yiyoung is building a startup with his college friends. They get a chance to present their proposal to SJ Corporation, one of the leading companies in the country. But in the meeting room he sees Kang Daehyung, the extremely handsome company big shot that's so very much his type, and Yiyoung's heart starts to race...! Can pretty-faced Yiyoung win both in love and his career?
yaoi, ongoing
Tumblr media
Okay this! It’s really funny and the pacing is nice and the characters are nice and the art is nice and the perfect mix of romance comedy and slice of life i just HUHDADKAJDHJK it’s rly a feel good read and both MCs are SO ATTRACTIVE.
Penthouse XXX
Siyeon, a contract killer, has declared a boycott on men after being screwed over by his ex. That is, until he moves into a penthouse owned by Taekyung, a rich heir with killer looks.
yaoi, completed, 49 chapters
Tumblr media
It has meme worthy illustrations xD. The graphics are nice but I found Taekyung (one of the MCs) to be a little toxic. Also, some parts of the story were not wrapped up/discussed enough imo. But overall, it was a pleasant read.
Home Sweet Home
The last thing Jungyeon expected was for his mom to ask if she could remarry. The new man was kind, considerate, a perfect match for his mother but there’s a catch: he has a younger son. Sunwoo is an introvert. He’s shy and has trouble opening up to others, until he meets Jungyeon and finds himself opening up for the first time. As their parents get closer to marrying, they become close, too close, and that’s when Sunwoo learns Jungyeon is already seeing another man.

I honestly don’t know why this has quite a low rating on mangago because I found it to be a good read! It’s like sitting through a romance-drama movie. I liked the ending and the relationship between the main couple.

The art is so good in the recent chapters ugh. Also the sex scenes are well made. The plot is a little unclear though, and I feel like the relationship of the two MCs are kinda forced and unnatural hahaskdhakjdh. Still reading it tho since it’s ongoing.

It’s by Harada (author of ‘Yatamomo’ and ‘Color Recipe’) so expect dark themes. Trigger warning for rape. I suggest you skip the rape if you can’t handle it because this manga is so good. Its art and story (much like Harada’s other works) will really suck you in. This left a deep impression on me because the characters felt so alive. I respect Harada so much for that ability.
💜 Eigyou Nika!

This is like watching a really good mature drama. The characters feel real and the situations presented in the manga were also something one can easily imagine themselves being put into. A short and good read.

I remember dropping this because MC was obviously raped, but upon watching the first episode of the anime adaptation, they made the sex consensual (thank God) and the story is not so bad after all. I suggest skipping the first chapter altogether and just start off at episode 1 in the anime, then you can pick it up in the manga to see the explicit scenes xD
That’s it for now! Will continue updating in this tumblr acc. as I continue on reading more BL ehe. Hmu on my twt if u wanna talk about BL and/or anime and manga in general hehe. Love lots~ 💜🐓

TOWER OF GOD EPISODE 10 IS TERRIBLE AND HERE’S WHY
Okay, as a webtoon reader I’m so pissed of right now. What was that? I am going to point out every single thing that made me mad about this episode. This post is spoiler free, so anime only guys, feel free to read this!
Original manhwa material WAS SHORTENED TO MINIMUM. They cut a lot of relevant information that originally made us curious about the tower itself. Anime only don’t know about Phantaminum - a guy that entered Jahad’s palace and slaughtered more than half of Jahad’s High Rankers. OH WOW I’M SO MAD. A person that is ranked as first in the tower (even higher than the king) was cut off. Well, it WASN’T THAT IMPORTANT I GUESS.
Tumblr media
RACHEL WAS ADDED TO MULTIPLE SCENES.  She WASN’T PRESENT during position evaluation. Moreover, Hansung and Bam went alone to the administrator, not with her. They cut off beautiful  dialogue between them too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
They skipped the part, when Hansung called Rachel ugly too, because why not?
Tumblr media
Another one. This sentence from Hansung made me so hyped up for upcoming events. Well, it was also cut, because why not?
Tumblr media
It was the same with Maria, Khun and Bam. This whole scene was shortened and to be honest it really doesn’t make the same impact as in manhwa. Seriously, why?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
They also cut these hilarious panels:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
AND DONT FORGET WE WERE ROBBED OF LERO RO AND QUANT CHESTS:
Tumblr media
We were also robbed of our Sleeping Beauty Hansung Yu:
Tumblr media
Seriously I think like I’m about to vomit when I look at this. I won’t spoiler anything but really, who thought that it was good idea to add conversation like this? IT ALMOST LOOKS LIKE THEY HAVE ROMANTIC FEELINGS FOR EACH OTHER THAT’S DISGUSTING. IT IS NOT IN CANON.
Tumblr media
Another drawback of this episode is conversation between Khun and Lero ro. In the anime it doesn’t really make any sense and it is SO SHORT. It took more than two full chapters for them to end this talk. I strongly recommend everyone to go and read this on webtoon. When I read this, I was so impressed by Khun’s capability of deduction. But in today’s episode, everything seems so simple that even a child would notice that something is wrong. Oh, and the message to Hoh was different too. No words.
Tumblr media
Another disadvantage was Hoh’s funeral. Well, it was like five panels without any chitchat in manhwa, but THEY CHANGED THE CANON and made it looks like Bam was the only one who organized this. LIKE WHAT?
Tumblr media
Ladies and gentleman... Get ready for THE MOST RUINED SCENE OF 2020. Yes, you probably know what I’am going to talk about. Khun (IN MANHWA) khuned everyone in the house by his acting. BUT IN ANIME they made it looks like a freaking Fairy Tail and power of friendship. N O. They DIDN’T help Bam immediately, because they thought of him as their friend. They were manipulated by Khun. Anime totally devastated this scene and honestly, this is the thing that made me mad the most (of course, Endorsi, Hatz, Shibi and the rest of main squad wanted to help Bam from the start, but the rest of regulars weren’t really keen on doing that).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And they all believed him. But in anime, they don’t. It is not what it was supposed to be...
Tumblr media
They also cut off a whole explanation why Rak calls everybody turtles... Seriously I’m about to cry.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Because this was cut off, cute interaction that proved Rak and Khun friendship wasn’t included too. Rak saw through Khun’s acting and he realized that he was only trying to help Bam.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Seriously, I’m so disappointed.
What are your thoughts guys? If you are here, thank you for reading all of this. It took me some time to write all of this. I had to skip some parts to not make this too long, but I think I failed, haha. Fell free to reblog!
And to be fair and not to be only negative. I’m in love with ost and voice acting. Animation is okay too.

Ogay I know this basically interests no one but I’ve been really wanting to elaborate on this one subject. As a small disclaimer to newbies or as a memo to myself. It mostly concerns my ( sorta overpowered ) vampire muse Gwi.
Tumblr media
In this blog, we have three different vampire muses ( I may add more in the future ). All of which are somewhat made according to the standards of White Wolf’s storyteller tabletop game Vampire: The Masquerade. The game is pretty popular, having an intricate ( and sometimes confusing ) universe, with tight rules that really forces players and writers to think about every aspect of their characters, their actions and such. Why am I saying that? Mostly aimed at those who are not in the fandom and may get confused about these very same rules and standards.
YES, Gwi is a canonical character from a media that has nothing to do with the V:TM setting, but I really stretched his concept, character and timeline to accommodate him on the setting since I’m familiar with it since my teens. Because, I admit it, I didn’t really like his original source material, neither the drama entirely. I didn’t even like his face on the manhwa. He was the sole reason why I kept up with it to the end for I’m a sucker for a beautiful vampire. I haven’t been this bewitched for one ever since that homoerotic tension™ between Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise in Interview With The Vampire ( Vampire Chronicles were also an inspo for this setting btw ).
When you create a vampire OC to play in an adventure in this setting, usually there’s a lot of things you have to consider. Generally, an average vampire that wanders around in our contemporary age is somewhat “weak” and recently embraced. Vampires numbers tend to be controlled to avoid getting the attention of humans and other creatures, like werewolves, mages and, of course, hunters. Since I don’t want this to get more confusing than it already is, let’s just leave them aside and focus only on vampires. Vampires still may succumb to their thirst, which would make them easy targets, controlling their numbers also. Not to mention all the complicated politics and backstabbing that their history has had ever since the first city of vampires was created millennia before Christ. Falling asleep for long periods of times ( known as torpor ), would require either a lot of strength, reliable allies ( which needless to say are hard to find ), secretiveness, and luck to not be found out and be awaken at some point. And IF you get to wake up, you’d have very little humanity left on you and basically would not know A THING about where you are.
Long story short, for a vampire to last for so long in this particular setting, it takes a WHOLE LOT of power ( political, physical etc. ), cunning, strategy, self-control and SHEER LUCK. Characters that are 200/300+ years old in this setting are already pretty powerful. Some with high ranks in vampire hierarchy. A smidgen of them has reached 1.000+ years of age. Most of the vampires you see around have “weaker blood” ( also refered as “high generation”, that is, their distance from the original vampire, which, according to this mythology, is Caine yeah, that one from the Bible ).
One thing I want people that are not from this fandom to understand is that my take on Gwi wouldn’t be a playable character according to the standards of the game. He wouldn’t go in an adventure with a coterie and such. He’s an Elder. One that has used the system to his favour. He would be either an NPC or a Final Boss. Not unkillable, but you would have to make an unmeasurable effort to take him down, let alone kill him ( again ). My main struggle is that I frequently come across vampire ( and other species in general ) muses that are “old as balls” and can’t really grasp the understanding of how Gwi’s age plays a huge part not only on his characterization, but also on his powers ( supernatural, political, etc. ) and his views on society ( vampiric or otherwise ). Some people use the age just for shock value, which is totally okay and I encourage you to do that, but in this particular setting, the passage of the years is really important, especially when major events happen every once in a while. He saw with his very own eyes the world changing year after year, people’s lifestyle changing. and, more than anything, he saw, one after the other, his clan and sect mates fall. That affects someone’s mind for sure.
Gwi is and has always been a villainous character. He won’t be essentially nice to you unless he can take something from you ( be it a good laugh and entertainment or some important connection and exchange of favours ). I’ve attributed to him a rank that allows me to easily move him around and place him anywhere ( again, using the standards of the game ). I also encourage you to take a look at this post to have a notion of how his clan is usually played. Sure, I doubt he believes in half of the Catholic beliefs the sect he’s part of uses, he just used the premade structure of the sect ( Sabbat ) and applied on a territory without a great organisation of vampires ( since the other sect, Camarilla, was focused mostly on Europe ). I am considering the presence of another kind of supernaturals that exist in the setting ( Kuei-Jin Wan Kuei ) in his scenario, but since their numbers are smaller, it would be easier for vampires ( who can effectively increase their numbers by bitting and embracing new childers ) to set and take over the territory. I had an entire chain of command for Gwi, but that would be a topic for later.
I have two totally playable characters according to the rules. Junior and Allen are made to be your standard average vampires that go out in an adventure to save the world and such ( in spite of being AU versions of canonic characters too ). Their clans are actually playable even on the video-game versions ( here & here ) of this setting.
But since I seem to still be drawn back to this villain, I’m writing this to every one of my potential rp partners to not be mad or confused about him, and to be honest you can sincerely bring any doubt or concern you may have to me. I’m not an EXPERT on Vampire setting nor even on character conception, but I doubt there’s anything that can’t be solved with dialogue  ♡

☀ 앰버 한글 팁 ☀
Disclaimer: Everyone has different learning tips and patterns so it really depends how you use there sources. Also this is a really long post. Anyway let’s begin—
Hello! I’ve been constantly asked where and how I learn the Korean language so I am finally making this post to help you, my friends, to get your resources! Before we start, here are some of the things you should know about me aka things I’ve been asked constantly.
I just started learning Korean this year (Jan 2017)
No, I’m not entirely fluent in writing, speaking or reading but I am always practicing.
I went to professional language classes and my 선생 is a native Korean! She’s very nice ;; Now, I am self learning!!!!!!!! I finish my first level and paused for a while bc busy with college (aka gonna graduate soon i gtg)
I am open for questions but do contact me via twitter or curiouscat for fast response lmao I would rarely check this tumblr ask.
Okay, to start off, for beginners (aka the ones that don’t know how to read and write hangul), you really NEED to learn to write and read hangul because that’s like the most basic. Here are some guides & resources to help you!
my tip: learn single vowels (ㅑ ㅕ ㅛ ㅠ ㅒ ㅖ) > single consonants (ㅁㅋㅈㄷㄱ) > double consonants (ㄲ ㄸ ㅉ ㅃ ㅋ)> double vowels (ㅘ ㅙ ㅚ ㅝ ㅞ ㅟ ㅢ). Keep in mind that even for Koreans, the pronunciation for ㅐ(ae), ㅔ(e) ㅒ(yae), ㅖ(ye) ㅙ (yae) is the same and often pronounced as ‘ae’. But the meaning in context itself is different.
learning hangul x x x x  {click on the ‘x’}
audio for learning how to pronounce hangul x x x
practice writing your hangul x x x
* you don’t have to necessary print these guides and can simple practice writing on recycled paper or a empty maths block book ^^
Once you got your hangul down, you should learn the rule of grammars which are your -이에요, -에요, (to be - am, is, are), 이게/저게 (this/that), etcs. Practically they’re grammar rules and quite important??? Here are some resources: x x x
Besides the grammar and maybe if you decide grammar isn’t that important to you (yet), you can start by learning numbers or colours or country names, basically vocabulary! They’re pretty important, if not crucial when it comes to Korean language learning.
my tips: you can really Google for these and learn up whatever you like, really! I would suggest learning vocabulary like numbers and colours if you want to go on a easier route! Grammar can be quite confusing.
When learning numbers, Korea has a two number system which is the sino korean number system (일, 이, 삼) and the pure korean number system (하나, 둘, 셋)! Even knowing when to use them is different.
my tip: If you know Chinese, this will bound to be easy for you! Sino Korean Number System is similar to Mandarin! If you noticed,  일 =   一  ( yī),  삼 =  三 ( sān). There’s a close resemblance to pronunciation so it won’t be as hard. The only way to master numbers is to really practice saying it! A good way to do so it try saying it backwards haha. If you can do that, you’re really good in it already!
I would run through what you should learn and can learn one by one but it’ll take ages to finish this post honestly! I believe everyone has a different style of learning so it’s really up to you in how or what you should learn. Here are some suggestions on how to improve once you’ve got the basic down (aka knowing how to read hangul and write!)
For reading:
beginner > read short articles (pann, dcgall, naver), short text, korean idol tweets, kpop song lyrics, children’s book, manhwa.
intermediate > read korean novels, short stories, poetries, magazines.
advanced > tbh you can read anything you want at this point.
For writing:
copy korean lyrics
write random sentences/dialogues
write short biographies of yourself, your friends or families.
For listening:
watch lots of dramas or variety shows of interest (Hello Councellor, My Neighbour Charles, Running Man, etcs)
listen to radio or podcast (Sukira, NCT Night Night, Jonghyun’s Blue Night, etcs)
listen to Korean songs and try to decode the meaning
** I do not recommend relying on dramas + variety shows conversational talk as your only Korean learning sources because they use a lot of  반말 (informal Korean) + slangs, which can i) leave you in confusion and ii) cause you trouble when you talk to actual Korean because of informality. Remember that they’re strict in formality between age hierarchy so there’s always the formal + informal way of saying something.
If you have trouble still knowing which consonant/vowel, my tip is while you’re writing notes in English, direct translate them to Korean text. I personally do this to practice my hangul reading + writing since I tend to have troubles with my consonant. Do not be afraid if it wrong because the whole point is learning! Here’s how I do it:
1. Sound dialogue > 소은드 다이로끄. (A/N: this is a direct translation. If I were to write sound dialogue, it would 소리 대화).
Practice it like this! It will help you learn to differentiate the consonant + vowel.
Finally, as for apps and books:
For apps, I use Memrise and Duolingo. Memrise is pretty good and it teaches you by level but it mostly immediate conversation based rather than grammars + vowels so it’s not recommended for beginners. But it’s good to use it to learn conversation! Duolingo is a more advanced level since they don’t provide the Korean language in English text yet and to learn it, all the question text and answer are in 100% Korean so it’s again, not good for beginners. You can use them once you’re more familiar with the language or if you wish to challenge yourself!
As for books, I wouldn’t really recommend you getting one? Because the below master posts I am linking will provide you with as much, if not more, with what you need! I do have two Korean language books though but that’s because I got them while learning in professional classes. But if you ever want to consider getting one, I researched before and Ehwa Universities books are really good! But yeah, you should look around here and there. I can’t really recommend much but the book I am using now (which is a beginner level book) is Songang Korean New Series and it’s alright!
Beside all these, for more resources, you can check these other cool master post for Korean language resources as well where they provide a lot of books + pdfs: (1) (2)

That’s actually the only drama that I started reading the webtoon, right after watching the series, since the story line is pretty incomplete.
Prince of Prince is a romantic comedy. Park Si-Hyeon is at the head of one of the biggest gaming company in Korea, MS. After five years in the States, he returns simply to find his beloved little sister completely changed. Yu-Na has become, since he left, an otaku completely obsessed by Secret Garden, a video game developed by Moo-Ryong. In the hope of getting his sister back, he’ll infiltrate Castlesoft to ruin Moo-Ryong.
Again, it will be a really short review, since it’s quite a short drama. As always, I tried to keep the review without spoilers, but stay careful while you read, something might have slipped.
For the plot I’ll start by saying that the dialogues are quite poor. I mean it’s not quite enjoyable if you want dialogues with deep meaning and a varied vocabulary with well-thoughts words. But, if you pass over that, the concept of the drama is quite nice. I mean, at first view the plot may appear quite typical and it’s true. It’s a really usual plot for boys love drama (I mean, the whole I’m going to lure him by acting gay and I end up falling for him is quite often used to bring two male characters together), but who cares. The drama is fine, but like it’s not a masterpiece, you know. The main problem with that drama is that the progression is really incomplete and it’s way too short. Like the end is way too open. The back story is left incomplete and it’s quite frustrating because it was so cool and thrilling and they shut it down too damn quickly. When I finished the drama, I just thought to myself that I had to read the manhwa if I wanted to know more about the story because there were so much questions unanswered. In other words, I’m going to be honest, if you can I think it would be better to simply read the Prince of Prince rather than watching this drama.
Because the drama is so short there isn’t much to say about the characters. The one I appreciated the more and seemed the more complex was Moo-Ryong (I’ll figure out a way to differentiate the two leads later), since he was at the center of the story, but was kept quite mysterious, but, since the drama didn’t allow it, he doesn’t undergo changes and doesn’t evolve. For Si-Hyeon he was okay, but often really annoying because he was acting in a really childish way (well a way proper to most of the male leads...). The last important character in the story is Yu-Na. I didn’t feel as if she was really developed, which is quite deceiving since she’s the main character of the webtoon and has some depth right at the start of it. In the drama she was mostly developed around her interactions with the boys, which wasn’t that great, but like I won’t complain. She has a pretty good relation with a brother and really has a good way to deal with what happen through the story between the two boys.
I’ll conclude here. I feel as if the story line would be worth a 8/10, but because of the really poor dialogues, I can’t give it more than 5/10 even though it doesn’t have length and isn’t that bad. The characters would be worth a 1/5. The tearjerker factor would be like a 0.5/5.

Que Sera, Sera Chapter 57 summary
Here's what I got. Anything in asterisks means I'm not 100% sure it's accurate. I'll try and get better translations for some of the dialogue since I know this chapter is huge.
Hani's asking about the aftereffects of the surgery Yenipang told her about and says that she wants to help Joon and they can treat it together. Joon thinks that he's dead (or wishes that he was) and thinks the best way for her to help is to just leave it alone. Then he tells Hani he appreciates her concern, but it's something he needs to overcome by himself and needs some time to do so. Hani's worried it could be a disease and checks his back, but Joon grabs her and pins her to the floor. Joon asks if she can sleep with him and Hani's flabbergasted asking why does that matter? Joon realizes that she doesn't know where the surgery was and that he hates himself because he hurt her and his pride. Joon's depressed and wondering if Hani would leave him knowing that Ran would be the only child they could have together? Then he thinks he doesn't want to be apart from either of them. Hani's thinking about what he said that he can't *touch her anymore* and then asks if he can go to the hospital at least and Joon agrees. To alleviate us of this depressing scene, Ran wakes up right on cue and thinks that her parents died and starts crying. They get up and try to tell Ran they're not dead. Ran's still crying that they're dead and she's scared. Then they apologize for worrying her.
Sun Gyeong is out shopping and knows that Yenipang went away. She's wondering what the hell is Joon thinking and are they really broken up for good? Then she runs into one of the Moms from Ran's daycare (the one with yellow striped shirt 2 chapters ago that thought Joon was good looking and is suspicious he's Ran's dad). She says that she hasn't picked up Ran in a while and it's usually the Uncle that does it everyday now. Sun's a bit surprised Joon does it everyday and thinks what he's doing is a bit inappropriate. The mom inquires that Joon is just her younger brother right? Sun agrees and says they're all so close that they are practically family. The Mom says she's jealous that she has an *uncle like that to help out*. Then she says that at first she thought he was Ran's father since Ran was so close with him. Then she thought it was weird how much they resembled each other. Sun's livid asking what's she talking about? Ran's Dad is gone and *doesn't know where he is, big deal*. The Mom tries to back away and says of course. Then she asks if Sun didn't hear rumors spreading that the Uncle is Ran's Dad so she wanted to confirm and Sun yells who's talking about this?
Joon's at the hospital and the doctor says the surgery went fine and after analyzing everything, Joon has enough sperm activity in his remaining ball to have children. Then he says that the test results for the other functions were almost normal. Joon thanks him and Doc says he should have come to the hospital and congratulates Joon. Joon asks why does he still have groin pain since it keeps interfering with his everyday life? The doctor doesn't know and says it should be possible for Joon to have a normal sex life (like this manhwa would allow that given its age rating). He brings up the possibility that Joon had more sensitive hormones than others during the recovery process. But more than anything, it could be mental aftereffects. He asks Joon if he recently felt anything stressful or put pressure on him that would give him a psychological burden? Joon remembers everything that happened like getting fired in the hospital and wasting his youth working for that company, finding out Ran was his daughter, waiting for Hani in the pouring rain, Duk Jin figuring out he was Ran's Dad, and trying to get a job to help support Ran. Joon says "There were a lot of things". But he thinks he'll be okay now. Doctor says he thinks Joon is okay and it might be that his body is still following his mind.
Joon's in the parking garage thinking of reducing stress and the Doctor also said that if Joon had a lover, he should talk to her about it so they can make an endeavor together. Joon doesn't think he can consult Hani about this and that his biggest stress right now is from his sister. Once that's solved he should be fine. Then his sister calls him right then and Joon thinks it's weird timing. When he answers, Sun yells if he's crazy?! Joon's wondering why she's yelling and Sun's angry that he's been picking up Ran from Daycare so frequently that it's gotten to the point that there are rumors going around that he's Ran's Dad. Joon says "so what?" and that she shouldn't care about what other people are saying. Sun is mad that he doesn't care and yells at him over the fact that Yenipang left for China. Then she's shouting at Joon if he *doesn't want to have a girlfriend* or get married? Joon says he'll take care of things tomorrow, but Sun is angry at the notion he'll take care of it himself saying she can't take it with him anymore and wants him to move out of his apartment immediately. She says that the rumors are there because he and Hani hang out together all the time and wonders if they're actually dating? Joon tells her not to bother Hani, but Sun says surely they aren't dating right? Joon asks why can't they be together and why can't he be Ran's father? Sun's asking what did he just say and if he's actually crazy? Then she says she's coming over to his house so they can talk face to face. Joon panics and tells her that he's not there now and Sun says she'll just wait until he gets there. Joon tries to have Sun meet at her house instead, but Sun already hung up. Joon thinks this is a really bad. (So much for reducing stress :P)
Joon tries calling Hani at work but she doesn't hear her phone. Sun and Joon are both racing like mad to the apartment, but Sun got there first. She rings the bell and a woman answers it. Sun's confused and inquires if Joon is home and the woman asks if she's talking about the Dad that lives next door? Sun's befuddled and thinking about the words "next door" and "the Dad".
End Translation.

ok i got a few posts to write in a row bc i was an absolute dumbass last night and stayed up until like 4am reading BLs on futekiya ... although prob later if there were more bc i have no self-control but i was surprised the collection is actually kind of small! anyway ... i was originally just gonna do 1 manga/post but i’m just gonna combine the 2 schoolboys BLs i read into one post here
first up is 1st love encounter/hatsukoi encounter which i literally almost yelled seeing in the library bc i’ve been wanting to read the rest of it after that 1st chapter got posted ... the art is so cute and i kind of like the couple dynamic even though i’m sometimes meh abt size diff ... ANYWAY. a cute read! pretty standard BL fare of “classmates who start out with a kind of friends w benefits relationship and then haha they got feelings and are now a couple”, although mine suddenly being like ‘ok i’m fine w being your sex partner’ after ONE date where hachi-whatever was nice to him made like no sense from a rational point of view ... although i guess at that point he had really only interacted w hachi like 3x in his life so take a chance i guess.
to be embarrassing again, i was like ‘fucking nice’ at the seifuku scene, i think the good art just made me like it more. the other reason why this is a cute read is bc it starts out w hachi seemingly shaping up to be an asshole seme who forces himself on mine every time, but i thought it was sweet how hachi eventually starting thinking of mine more (in a nice way not like a horny way) and oof that lil dialogue right before they had sex where he was like ‘i wanted to say something good like in those romance movies you like’ ..... and then the last page of the last chapter where mine is like ‘being w you makes my heart beat faster than when i watch romance movies’ which y’all know when that same line dropped in someone else’s bl manhwa i died so .......... the extra chapter scene of them fucking in front of their classmates was like ‘OKAY AUTHOR ...’ but otherwise yeah !!! also that reminded me of that plot point w the girl who had a crush on mine ... not really concluded in a satisfying way but i mean it was implied from day 1 mine wasn’t really interested in her bc of hachi so no need to lead her on in the story ig, she was clearly just there to push hachi and mine together lmao but her and mine’s date was very cute !!
tl;dr nice read with cute art and schoolboys story, even if i feel like mine from 1st chapter prob wouldn’t have continued with the relationship. i mean they both want to get off sure but ... idk a bit fewer nonsexual romance tropes than i was expecting esp since mine in the 1st chapter is like ‘all i want is a nice HS romance !!’
//
2nd one which i prob won’t write much abt bc it’s whatever is Seitokai: Yakuin Toshite Mondaiji wo Kousei Saseteitara Nazeka Love Come ni Natteita Ken which i legit had to fucking copy from bakaupdates bc what the hell is this title (bc idk japanese). anyway the 1st story was the standard fare, yet another ‘sex friends to lovers’ plot except the trope of ‘i’ve secretly been in love with you this entire time too’ is added. so typical BL school plot. i like this couple dynamic (delinquent/kind of aggressive character who does genuinely care abt his SO + well-meaning “good guy” but kind of dumb w his SO) so nice quick read since it progressed p quick w not much diving into the details. also i like couples who have some kind of history together whether it be a past romantic relationship or they used to be friends etc etc lol. i didn’t care much for the 2nd couple but i skimmed it and i’m glad it was less so ‘uke gets forced into sexual relationship against his will but eventually learns to enjoy it’ than i thought it was gonna be.
anyway what i’m really writing for is the extra though bc it absolutely killed me ... i didn’t care abt the sex scenes but the couples’ reactions to watching sex tapes of the other couple (a ridiculous premise btw but whatever this is one of those nonsensical BLs anyway)... whoever did the localization ... ‘i can’t believe [that sappy line] came out of your cringey little mouth’ ... i literally went and saved that page bc it’s too good and i won’t be able to access it after this month ...

Stories of 2019
I would like to say this piece is about the best pieces of media and literature that came out in 2019, but it isn’t. I know there’s a myriad of stories I consumed this year that originally came out in years prior. This post, really, is about the most memorable stories I consumed and experienced for different reasons. I’m mostly writing it as a retrospect of a year where I made it my goal to experience more stories to become a better writer.
Literature
- His Dark Materials, Books 1 & 2 (The Golden Compass & The Subtle Knife), by Phillip Pullman
I have long been curious about these books by Phillip Pullman. It was popular in my childhood, though not as much as other books my childhood companions read. Someone told me the premise of the series in a comical manner about how it wrote religion into the world, and that dialogue sold me long ago on reading the series. I didn’t get the chance, however, to read it until rather recently, at the tail-end of 2019. I rather value the fact that I read it as I was older. I would’ve loved it as a child, I’m certain of it, but there’s definitely a darker tone to it that I appreciate more as an adult. It makes me nostalgic for the story I’m writing in all the good ways. I admire Pullman’s writing as well. It should be noted the TV series adaptation of the books is rather solid, and one I’m enjoying currently.
- The Poppy War, by R.F. Kuang
Surprise, surprise, another fantasy novel makes my list. I think however, that it is a rather amazing one in where it went with its main character. It is a long novel, but one that thoroughly develops the world it’s in and the path a protagonist can take to become both the hero and the enemy, for better or worse. By the end of the novel, I’m not certain that I can find that her actions are acceptable, though I understand her mindset into it all. And that’s what makes the story fascinating to me. I like to write about people, even the most troubled ones. War can be a horrifying monster to everyone it touches, combined with the obsessions of our own ambitions.
- The Priory of the Orange Tree, by Samantha Shannon
Well-written, and honestly a joy to read at times, my first novel from Samantha Shannon pleasantly surprised me when I learned that it tastefully wrote about a same-sex relationship between two women. That isn’t the main focus of the novel, however. Across the board, the protagonists of the stories consist of two strong women and two men who have much to do to keep order in their own lives and the world around them. It’s about differences in beliefs coming together in order to be a better good. There are so many threads and yet they tie together rather beautifully by the end. It’s a wonderfully crafted tale of high fantasy that I’d honestly love to see more of someday.
Comics & Manga
- Monstress, by Marjorie Liu and Sana Takeda
At the tail-end of 2018, I was starting to pick up some western comics, as I previously had only largely consumed Eastern-style manga and manhwas. One of the ones that grabbed me and kept me was Monstress, first for its beautiful, gorgeous artwork, and second for the fact of how it writes its main character. It’s dark, yet hauntingly beautiful, the world the comic takes place in. The story has some pacing issues, but even so, it was by far my favorite western comic I read this year.
- Paper Girls, by Brian K. Vaughan and Cliff Chiang
Saga was the series that kind of introduced me to the kind of brand of Western comics that I thought I would like, that stretched beyond superheroes. It was my favorite comic of 2018, and still arguably one of my favorites now. It made sense then, that I would read other comics by one of its creators. Paper Girls is a fun read, and also deals with time travel and the fates that we follow and create for ourselves. And I am a sucker for anything time travel.
- Yagate Kimi Ni Naru by Nakatani Nio
I’ll be honest. I read chapters of this prior to 2019, but as the series ended recently and I re-read the entire series from the beginning, this manga sincerely stole my heart again. As someone who has never been in touch with her feelings as much, to see someone understand how they felt about another and figure it out, especially in the context of friendship and between two girls, was a quiet experience that I loved and enjoyed.
TV Shows
- Euphoria, from HBO
It honestly was the first show that came to mind for me about this year. It’s not my typical genre as an adult now, as it is a show about teenagers and their experiences. However, I think this is a show that definitely is for adults as well, more so than teenagers perhaps. Because, after all, we remember what it’s like to be that age. It’s about the mess people at that age in high school can be, as products of their environment and the upbringing they had. I watched it on a whim between episodes of the last season of Game of Thrones and enjoyed it far more. It’s a show about addiction, about desire, about abuse, about everything good and bad. It wrote so well the experiences of people from across the spectrum.
- The End of the F***ing World, from Netflix
I surprisingly liked this second season more than the last one. I think I liked it more because it goes more into depth about the mentality of each person. More than just diving into it, it went into how they are trying to mend it and address it. It’s still as charmingly amazing as it was the first season, with its sort of absurd dry humor.
- She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, from Netflix (and Dreamworks Animation)
I never really expected how much I actually would enjoy this show when I first watched it on a whim in 2018. Even though I already knew back then how much I admired the characterization of Adora and Catra, it was just a small admiration. This admiration only grew and grew as the series progressed and started extending to the show’s writing in general. The series is written to be enjoyed by all ages, but there’s an underlying tonality to it that definitely calls to me as an adult, particularly in the case of Catra’s story. It’s not perfect, by any means, but it’s exactly that quirky nature and well-written dialogue that makes me think this will be a series that will be on my mind for a long time.
- The Good Place, from NBC
This show is permanently on my list until it stops airing. It’s still just as good.
Movies
- The Theory of Everything (2014)
I went through a lot this year in my personal life, one of the situations being someone returning to my life that I never expected to speak to again. It brought me much perspective to see a film about persevering, understanding how time can be strange in its own ways, and how we make so much in this world for ourselves by just being with one another. I admire Stephen Hawking, for one, but the film brought a fictionalized story to life between him and Jane Hawking that I thought was honestly beautiful. And the heart of what made this film great was that relationship and bond through time. It was hopeful. The film made me remember why it was okay, that even after all these years, I still had something to be hopeful and grateful in all those years past. ...It’s also just a really beautifully shot film. That ending sequence had me near tears.
- Parasite (2019)
I think if I had to choose one film to be my favorite of the entire year, it would be this film. There’s so much packed into it, but it’s beautifully, wonderfully done. It was personal on a bizarre level about social class and how the way we’re raised and the amount of money we have growing up affects who we become. It’s about inequality, about family, and so much. I can’t even find the right words to describe it because I think it’s a film everyone should watch.
- Marriage Story (2019)
I can’t say that I’ve been through a divorce, but I’ve been through an emotional disconnect with someone that meant much to me. It’s why watching this film made me go through a rollercoaster that I could relate to. Even when relationships, friendships, or something in between end on a sour note, it doesn’t take away all your affections for them. Even if it doesn’t make sense, you still love them, no matter how much you bitterly want to hate them. And sometimes, relationships don’t just end because of some horrible end-all thing. Sometimes, it just doesn’t work out--and you have to live with that. And sometimes, you have to live with one another still, even if maybe you’d be better off being out of each other’s lives. The movie hit me on a personal note on many levels, and I think anyone who’s been in any sort of situation like that will feel the same watching the movie.
- Knives Out (2019)
I would like to simply present Daniel Craig’s character talking about donut holes to explain why this is one of my favorite films this year. But really, it’s witty, it’s fun, and it feels relevant to the atmosphere we have in American society in modern times. It’s a whodunit mystery with a twist that in the end, and truthfully really isn’t about a murder at all, but rather about the people that make up a little of entitled society and the people who have to live with them.
- Little Women (2019)
I sincerely loved Louisa May Alcott’s novel growing up, and had a wild amount of excitement for Greta Gerwig’s adaptation. I was not let down. It’s not a traditional take on the story, and yet it is. It changes up the timeline in a brilliant way, and moreover, does so much justice to Amy’s character and the way women have to live in that time period. It brings out more of Jo’s joy in writing and telling stories. It does a brilliant job of portraying Laurie’s relationship with Jo, as well as Amy. It’s a strong adaptation of a largely female tale that is also made relevant for modern times. I can also say that Florence Pugh did a phenomenal job as Amy.
----
There are a number of other stories I consumed this year that I loved, such as Frozen II or Naomi Novik’s novels, but I can’t list them all. I hope 2020 continues to be a year of great stories for me. And I hope it is a year for me to better expand on my own stories.
