🔮 kei 😍
- @bluejay-in-write
Oh Kei...
“I lost,” Sakura says.
“I don’t care if you lost,” Kei tries to explain. She bends down, trying to be on eye level with this kid who just looks so young. Kei isn’t that old even though she feels like she is but the girl in front of her…she looks like a child. Inwardly, Kei curses her Village and the age they allow children to graduate to become killers. She softens her voice. “I want to hear it from you, Sakura. What happened?”
Send me OC + 🔮 and I will write or share a future scene from their story

so I read someone talking about a merlin deleted scene where merlin compliments the knights and arthur gets pissy and goes fight them to prove that he is better, and I thought it was an exaggeration but it ISNT AT ALL
scene includes:
Arthur says that Percival is strong but not agile, he isn’t the whole package. Merlin agrees and says that GWAINE is the whole package
Arthur goes off to fight Gwaine, who takes his shirt and gives it to Percival??? akjdjda
(we were robbed of shirtless gwaine with a sword)
Arthur then goes fight Elyan, wins, and goes brag to merlin saying, and I quote, “Elyan has got concentration, strength, the whole package, and still I win! What do you have to say about that?” while being dangerously close to him
They had to take it out because it’s the gayest scene I’ve ever watched in my whole fucking life they wouldn’t be able to beat the merthur allegations after it
EDIT: the video is in this post

I have to ask is his name actually Dr. Ratio or is it a funny nickname for him because this has alluded me and racked my brain like a tennis ball on the court so I must know before the tennis ball gets launched any harder, breaking the barrier shielding my little brain from the elements
heavy sigh
Yeah that's his name. His first name is Veritas which is Latin for "truth" and apparently when you put them together "veritas ratio" means "true reason" but I CANNOT take that seriously (and neither can the entirety of the fandom). The "Dr." is because he's a professor and has, like, eight frickin' doctorates or something.
Also in his splash art he's holding up his hand and making an L which has led to countless "L + Ratio" jokes. Look at this maniac.
He's also the first 5 limited 5 star Hoyo have given out for free, and he's available to literally everybody. That's a big win for me as he's an Imaginary-type character and I am in DESPERATE need of an Imaginary damage-dealer because currently I have none.
He's a huge jerk but I love him. I could go on for a while as to why he's an incredibly cool character but I imagine that would lead to you banging your head on a wall begging to be released cause I'd be there a while.
He's also very pretty but that's another matter

as a big les mis fan, i have loved your blog for ages but recently you have especially piqued my interest - in your recent explanatory amis post, you referenced historical metacontext around jehan's death being first. i have a theory about what that metacontext is, but i am FAR from certain and hoping you could offer me some clarification
(also do you have any other pieces of interesting historical metacontext to share with the class)
OK you gotta tell me your Theory too!!! if it lines up or it was something totally different , I wanna hear it alllll
anyway! it's pretty solid that Prouvaire as he finally appears is largely an homage to Hugo's old friend Gérard de Nerval, who had died in 1855; a LOT about Prouvaire's description overlaps with how people talk about Gérard, and the conversation where he's arguing with everyone about the old gods still existing lines up EXTREMELY with conversations that other people remembered having with him ; there's THIS :
Jean Prouvaire was in love; he cultivated a pot of flowers, played on the flute, made verses, loved the people, pitied woman, wept over the child, confounded God and the future in the same confidence (LM 3.4.1, Hapgood)
“God is dead, perhaps,” said Gerard de Nerval one day to the writer of these lines, confounding progress with God and taking the interruption of movement for the death of Being.(LM 5.1.20)
(Hugo still trying to still have this conversation with his friend via novel guts me more than a little!! People are people and we never stop wanting to find the right thing to say oh geez I'm crying for real)
Bahorel , who dies in the same first-charge attack that takes Prouvaire, is also a (even more obvious) homage to a friend; Petrus Borel , who had died in 1859.
They're considered pretty minor figures today, but they were both really noteable names in their day, which is to say...about the late 1820s/early 1830s; they were two of Hugo's most trusted lieutenants in the battle of Hernani, held in French Romantic memory as a breakout event for the movement. And, importantly, they were the first of that core group of more radical Romantics to die.
So while i think there is a lot going on character- and symbol-wise with them being the first two Amis down, I also think there's definitely an Acknowledgement in them being the first of the named group to go; they get the sort of heroic deaths they'd have liked, and maybe the closest thing to Good deaths on the barricade until OFPD? and agh I'm emotional, QUICK tell me your theories before I start crying harder

A list of ways they could have ended the Hamster and Gretel season finale that would have been better than whatever the hell that was:
Gretel reveals herself to Hiromi to help explain to her why Kevin constantly has to dip (Hiromi has proven herself trustworthy several times at this point there is literally no risk to telling her)
Kevin and Gretel have an actual heart to heart where they talk out why they're frustrated with each other
Gretel reads Kevin the speech she literally wrote for him
Some kind of flash back to the twins where we see Lauren starting to doubt the whole "supervillain" thing
I get it's a "kids show" but kids shows still deserve actually good writing and plot and this just. Wasn't it. The open ending was TOO open ended. Leaving the failed date for next season? Sure. Leaving the potential redemption arc for the villain next season? Yeah okay.
Wiping away the brother and sister tension with a throwaway scene and no follow up? Come on. And ending with the stupid aliens teasing next season, then crushing Kevin further with how he wasn't supposed to get powers, and finishing out the whole season with what literally is just a, "That's rough buddy?"
Yeesh.

[Image description : a drawing of characters from the 2019 show Carmen Sandiego, digitally colored in a lineless style. Carmen, in her red hoodie, is sitting on a couch with a blanket on her lap and a full mug in her hands. Behind the couch, Shadowsan has his hand on Carmen’s shoulder in a comforting gesture. They are looking at each other and smiling. Two other pictures are closeups on Carmen’s face and Shadowsan’s face respectively. /End description]
Second part of my Touch series, with Shadowsan! Their touch is a more subtle one than Player and Carmen’s, as felt appropriate given their more complicated history and Shadowsan’s general reserve. Still, like everything between them, there’s a lot of weight behind that gesture.
Other parts (to be edited) : Player
