And yet more Birthday Week Random Shit Queue.
A Goofy Movie is the most underrated animated movie musical. The songs are brilliant.
I can't believe Disney hasn't turned this into a Broadway musical.
Years ago some actors did their own live action version, and it's fantastic. The guy playing Powerline has a killer voice.

As much as we all want more Encanto content and thought that something really big was going to be announced at the the panel, I have to say that people need to keep in mind that Encanto came out not even that long ago, so expecting a second movie announcement or even a show announcement is way too early and unrealistic. These things take time, and not only that, but it’s very RARE for even Disney to be making more content (not counting merch) of their movies and all when the original source material came out not that long ago. I mean look at Moana and Zootopia, two other Jared Bush and Bryon Howard projects that came out in 2015-2016, and only NOW are announcing that there’s more content coming. I say this because I kinda already see people harassing Jared and the crew, and being aggressive, and not only is that….disrespectful, but people also need to keep in mind that the crew are humans beings and have their own lives, their own projects going on, so we can’t expect them to just keep feeding us when they have other things to do lol. Of course, as an Encanto fan people have a right to be disappointed, I am too, but to the people who are genuinely angry and pissed, (the people who are harassing mainly on twitter I mean) y’all gatta chill. We all know that Jared and the crew are very passionate about this project, and have stated time and time again that they would love to make more content, but we all need to look at this on a realistic standpoint. We may get it soon, we may not, that’s just how it is. But in the meantime, we should be thankful that we have Jared doing Q and A’s, as well as voice actresses like Adassa having a ball. As I’ve said before, I do believe we’ll get more Encanto in the future, but we just need to wait and be patient, that’s how it works in the animation community lol. With that said, I’m still more than happy to keep talking about Encanto, because I love the project dearly and I do want to see more, but to everyone who is upset, I’m sure the future holds great things, we just need to wait. 💕

Ok, I’m going to be a “boomer” about this: now Disney musicals have “sing along” version. *creaky old man shaking his cane at young ‘ins* Back in my day, we either figured out the lyrics, used subtitles (rarely completely accurate), or just belted out what the words sounded like at full volume and complete shameless. None of this “sing along,” nonsense.
*I’m being a humorous delight for any future twisted panty wads getting angry*

I just found the most valuable and awesome addition to my Broadway collection! Everyone who knows me knows that I love Broadway and The Lion King, so I obviously had to get this when I saw it in Goodwill

I’ve been thinking about how Tangled need to be on Broadway a LOT lately, and I was just thinking:
Michael Ahomka-Lindsay would be a perfect option to play flynn rider
His voice fits him so well and he is SO charming!!

yeah so it turns out I have more thoughts on the merits of 'Be Prepared' as a great Disney villain song.
Something really cool about this song, that's not as common in Villain songs, is that it doubles as an I Want song for the antagonist. ('Mine, Mine, Mine' from Pocahontas is also an I Want song, but it is musically much more forgettable. Also, I forgot that John Smith has a couple lines in it; the intent was clearly to contrast Ratcliffe's greed for gold with John's desire for adventure, but given historical context, it seems only apropos for John Smith to appear in a villain song).
Nearly half (4/10) of the villain songs in that poll are instead persuasive, trying to get the protagonist to trust the villain, which doesn’t necessarily tell us anything about the villain’s character or their motivations. (Still excellent songs though! Not knocking them! They just serve a different function in their respective stories)
Meanwhile, Scar's I Want song parallels Simba's (they both want to be king), and on a narrative level that beautifully sets up the inevitable conflict; their desires are mutually exclusive. That's the mark of a really good protagonist-antagonist set-up!
Then there's the goosebumps factor. This is more subjective, but to me a good Disney Villain Song gives you chills, and 'Be Prepared' does this in spades. And, with the benefit of hindsight, we can see how Scar sings about his plan to murder his brother and then he fucking does it. On-screen, in an extremely traumatic way. He is a villain with follow-through. Other Disney villains might have higher kill counts, but none hit quite so hard as the death of Mufasa, named character and beloved father-figure

One of the things I love about Luisa is that she’s technically the opposite of her gift in a way. When making the characters gifts, the filmmakers wanted to have them mainly appeal to their personalities, aka the family archetypes so they don’t feel random. However, I always found Luisa different. Her gift is super strength, and even though she APPEARS to be that way, she’s a VERY emotional and vulnerable person. I have a theory that this fact alone was the reason why her song “Surface Pressure” was so different from all the other songs in the movie.

In the film, every song is shot, animated, and choreographed as if it was a musical stage production, and this was 100% intentional. Lin Manuel heavily influenced the musical theater vibe the film has, with the songs mainly consisting of characters in a big area walking around and dancing. I know a lot of people got turned off and thought the way each song was shot was boring, but for me, the style is one of the MAJOR reasons why I love the movie, since I myself am a musical theater lover. Anyway, as you can tell, Luisa’s song is the only song in the entire movie that isn’t really shot as if it were a stage broadway musical, it’s animated like the classic Disney movies, where there are a BUNCH of visuals, colors, and various locations. We go from the town to a circus, an arena, to the sky, to the titanic ect, and it’s all amazing. I’m pretty sure the difference between the visuals of this song and all the other songs were definitely intentional, so for me, the reason why I think the filmmakers made this decision was because of Luisa’s personality not matching her gift entirely. With that said, Surface Pressure will always be a bop, and Luisa will always be an amazing character! 💪💕

With me finding a proper replacement gear and being able to repair my music box, I am finally able to continue my music box lullaby series!
This is If I Can’t Love Her from the stage musical version of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. It worked perfectly on this instrument, I didn’t even have to transpose it! I chose to do my favourite part of the song, which is the ending, including the modulation.
Original music by Alan Menken, this arrangement is by me.
