About the AU

* “Like True Pacifist, but in the Underground”

* Dreemurrtale is an AU where Chara and Asriel never died, hence the name Dreemurrtale

* The AU focuses on what changes because the Dreemurr siblings survived, specifically changes in the Underground

* Some changes are...

All of the fallen humans are alive (Frisk, Chara, and the six SOULs)

Gaster is alive, so the CORE is never built

Alphys does not work as the Royal Scientist, so the Amalgamates never exist

Mettaton remains a ghost, never becoming the star of the Underground, and goes by Hapstablook

The Ruins are abandoned, only some random Froggits live there. Toriel finds the fallen humans when she visits to check with the monsters living there

dreemurrtale aka `asriel and chara are their parents (*but crueler) while every other adult is still a child (*exept asgore and toriel cause they´re dead)´

okay but this au came to me when i thought `boy, chara as the final boss would be feels´ and the rest came to me (as in, i actually put thought on how that could make sense).

basically what i came up with is that toriel was able to stop the kids before putting in buttercups, wich allowed them to grow up wich allowed the dreemurr parents to age into elders.

one of the parents dies of sickness coupled with age (haven´t decided wich), then a human comes and kills a couple of subjects before killing the other dreemurr parents and getting out of the barrier.

chara and asriel are heartbroken, chara wants asriel to take their soul to cross the barrier and ¨destroy this world´s evil¨ while asriel is like ¨chara! we can´t handle war right now! i´m not loosing more family!¨, end of the argument asriel banishes himself to the ruins while chara becomes monarch of monsters and declares the `kill all humans´ rule, promising that after the death of the 6th human they will become the 7th soul needed.

i wanted this au to take place 20~ years earlier then original undertale cause in my timeline, it takes about a century before frisk showes up. chara fell when they where 9 so that would make them over 90 years old (asriel is technically the same age, but is stuck in mid 20s cause he never has (bio) kids). that also makes most if not every adult in undertale a single digit age kid.

asriel doesn´t have a single friend like toriel has, instead he becomes the `the ruin man´, who tells about the days of old and human stuff (mostly outdated), but the kids love it and it´s considered a tradition to let the kids go there (also the adults feel sorry for the prince).

when frisk falls into the underground, asriel has at that point just straight up chased off every other monster out of the ruins (he´s getting REALLY desperate at this point, having already failed to save 5 kids and having frisk go would mean chara dying, so he forced every other monster out so that they can´t tell chara if a new human comes). asriel would walks frisk trough the the ruins into the house offering frisk pie. when they try to leave he just denies the existence of the exit and when frisk tries to leave he just locks you in magic fire. in order to leave, frisk has to trick asriel to fall asleep before leaving. to bad asriel will actually try to find and bring frisk back when they go missing

chara is alot more isolated from the kingdom then asgore is, only coming out to share news (they also refuse to wear a crown cause they weren´t suposed to be monarch (in their mind)). undyne REALLY likes the monarch for their drive to free monsterkind (chara is really fucking akward about it).

chara at this point is just old and tired, a part of them knows this isn´t morally pure but they try to deny that (to frisk, to themselves, to everyone). since this au follows the `all humans can save´ theory, it means that frisk and chara are in a stailmate since neither are willing to be the first to die. and since (in my au at least) only the died and last human they incounter renembers saves, chara knows you´re there and will try to hunt you down.
