God please please please if someday you will give me a QP reboot / revival i hope the producers keep the original QP triplets personalities i need to see THESE ducks again
I need to Louie to pick fights with hunters and cops to protect defenseless animals. He being extremely inconsequential, adventurous and curious and giving his brothers a headache. Him being the silliest little creature whose social skills sucks...
I need seeing Dewey being such a nerd, being the craziest builder ever, being a failboy and making theories about alliens. Being the brain of the group with angst reflexive moments. Oh yeah, and a COMPLETE bookworm
I need HUEY. GOD, I NEED HIM!! I need his ironic and sarcastic personality! Yes, that sassy Huey who doesn't take shit and is extremely calculating and mocking. The Huey who has an evil laugh and appears to be evil but is actually a cinnamonroll who cares deeply for his family. I need him to be cool but a complete loser pathetic.

A ton of duck lockscreens and homescreens I painted last year. I don't know if anyone wants any of these, but just in case, here you go. I mainly just paint them for my own use, then post them, because if I want one, there might be someone else out there who wants one, too.
The first two are Italian comic and Ducktales 2017 versions of Scrooge on a christmas-themed background.
The next two home screens are made with Daffy Duck (It's easier for me to see the icons when the screen is in black and white...)
The last two are a Donald Duck one based on Chuck Jones concept art for the piano scene from Roger Rabbit, and a spooky Count Duckula the 18th wallpaper based on the Danger Mouse reboot version with his vegetable minions. The last one also comes with a matching icon.
These are all open for anyone to use (though don't steal them and claim them as your own, yadda yadda...), it's not like I created any of these characters, and I like when people can get things of characters they like.

Duck Santa - Team Science - Fenton Crackshell, Gandra Dee and Daisy Duck in the laboratory - Ducktales 2017
This is my first Duck Santa challenge I've done, and my first time doing a Duck Santa. And it's the first time I'm drawing a laboratory and I liked doing it. :D
Yes, I drew Fenton Crackshell-Cabrera, Gandra Dee, and Daisy Duck as a team of scientists who are in a lab doing research related to Fluff and possibly Slice of Life. Yes, Gandra and Daisy are friends here and Daisy is involved in laboratory activities mostly related to chemistry. And I added Fenton too, since he's Gandra's boyfriend and they help each other. I also added a background of a laboratory with test tubes, a periodic table of elements and a computer with icons and a Windows 7 program (I know it's outdated, but it's my favorite Windows), as well as snow falling in Duckburg and the arrival of winter and getting ready for Christmas. Yes, even though it's Ducktales 2017, I still drew them in my own style, since I'm not a fan of the Ducktales reboot style. Sorry!
But I love these characters, as well as the romance between Fenton and Gandra, and it's really good to see Daisy and Gandra being friends, since unfortunately we didn't see that in the Ducktales series. By the way, this drawing is my gift to @margaretnobbs, whom I dedicated for the Duck Santa I got from @duckblrsecretsanta2023 as well as thanks for the good Duck Santa assignment I got and yes, I liked the assignment I did. I hope you like this drawing and these characters and sorry if I did something wrong about my drawing. I tried as hard as I could.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! I hope you like this drawing and these characters.
P.S. And yes, I hope to participate in the next Duck Santa in the following years, if there is one. :D

Alright it's almost Hispanic Heritage month again yall. Here's a list of Animated characters that I, a Latina, cried over when I found out they were Latin American
For clarification, "Found out" means, having no previous knowledge of said characters and within the context of the show/movie they are confirmed Latin American.
(From the perspective of a Costa Rican 🇨🇷 specifically)
The entire Madgrial Family (Encanto)
Tumblr media
The moment I saw the teaser trailer for Encanto I started crying. I was so BEYOND EXCITED to see real, true, positive beautiful Latin American representation in a Disney movie. I'm not even Colombian but seeing something like this become so popular made me so happy. Being able to fully understand "Dos Orugitas" in Spanish just hits so different, its not the same in English. It's such a beautiful step for Latin American representation, and I'm so excited to see what comes next for us. (Still holding out for my Latina Disney princess tho. And no, Elena doesn't count) I've also been told I look just like Mirabel and seeing a character that looks like me in a Disney movie just made my heart soar.
Luz Noceda (The Owl House)
Tumblr media
Bruh a bisexual Latina with mommy issues AND she's bilingual??? She's just like me fr.
Lance McClain (V*ltron Legendary Defender)
Tumblr media
He was my absolute favorite character in V*ltron and I will NEVER forgive them for ruining his arc and making him sad forever. He deserved a happy ending. He's NOT "just a boy from Cuba", he's so important and lovely.
Miles Morales (Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse)
Tumblr media
I'm not a comic book reader, so Into the Spiderverse was the first time I met Miles. Finding out he was Afro Latino made me heart soar. He's a sweet boy, such a good character in the movie, and definitely deserved the Oscar. Can't wait for the sequel.
Claire Nuñez (Tales of Arcadia)
Tumblr media
Claire is literally such a badass. She's amazing, an amazing character, her story with Jim is beautiful. Love it when she's speaks Spanish. 10/10 character (Watch Tales of Arcadia it's really good)
Fenton Crackshell-Cabrera (Ducktales 2017)
Tumblr media
King of my heart. Wholesome dork. Voiced by Lin Manuel Miranda.
Gosalyn Mallard (Ducktales 2017)
Tumblr media
What I literal icon. I really really REALLY hope that the rumored Darkwing Duck reboot uses the DT 2017 versions of the DW characters cause this Gosalyn is a QUEEN
Hector Nieves Aka: Hi-Five (Glitch Techs)
Tumblr media
Glitch techs was such a cute show it deserved to keep running. Screw Nickelodeon for canceling it just as it was starting to get interesting. Anyway this dork is adorable. Bilingual gamer king.
Troy Sandoval (Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts)
Tumblr media
Hi this cutie patootie is a literal king. He and Benson are so cute together. (GO WATCH KIPO AND THE AGE OF WONDERBEASTS ON NETFLIX I PROMISE YOU'LL LOVE IT)
Honorable Mentions:
Tumblr media
(From top to bottom, left to right. Tumblr only allows 10 images at a time so I had to combine them)
• Señor Hueso and Capitan Piel, who together make the icon Don Suave (Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2018):
I literally laugh my ass off whenever I watch the episode "Hidden City Job" and they do the whole Don Suave bit. Like it's so over the top yet accurate to telenovela characters that I can't help but laugh every time. When they first introduced Capitan Piel, I instantly laughed so hard before they even translated it because they did the whole Skin and Bones bit and I just thought it was so clever. 10/10 duo I'd love to see more of them. (GO WATCH ROTTMNT PLEASE THEY NEED ALL THE SUPPORT THEY CAN GET IF THEY WANT A SEASON 3)
• Vaggie (Hazbin Hotel)
People were giving Vivziepop shit accusing her of making Vaggie the "angry Latina stereotype) and I couldn't disagree more. Vaggie is perfectly fine as a character, and I can't wait to see what they do with her in the official Hazbin Hotel series!!
• Isabella Garcia-Shapiro (Phineas and Ferb)
Phineas and Ferb was the first fandoms I was ever in, and Isabella holds such a special place in my heart. Love her to pieces
• Marco Diaz (Star vs. The Forces of Evil)
Svtfoe was also one of the first fandoms I was in, so seeing one of the leads be portrayed as Mexican made 12 year old me so happy.
• Miguel Rivera (Coco)
Coco is such a beautiful movie, and I ONLY watch it in Spanish. Miguel is such a sweet and special boy, he really brought the joy of music back into his family.
• Soos (Jesus) Alzamirano Ramirez
Gravity Falls was ALSO one of the first fandoms I was in (PnF, GF, and Svtfoe were my main 3 for a time), and finding out this loveable goof was Latino made me really happy
• Princess Elena Castillo Flores
Now she may not be an official Disney princess (she doesn't meet all the requirements to be part of the franchise) but that doesn't mean she isn't excellent representation for young children. Although the show doesn't represent one specific Latin American country/culture, the show does have bits and pieces of many different LatAm cultures, and even some indigenous inspiration here and there with all the mythology aspects. It isn't perfect, but I do still appreciate Elena's presence in Disney.
Happy Hispanic Heritage Month everyone!!!

How to do a reboot injustice. (What Rugrats 2021 Has Taught Everyone)
Hello once again.
I come back on before the 2nd decade of my annual countdown to revisit a popular entry I did.
6 years ago with the reboot wave cresting, I took a look at what I now realize was its peak (with Animaniacs close behind)
DuckTales (WooHoo!)
How it encapsulates the old with bringing in the new.
Yet the wave despite it cresting San Andreas style still kept going. Although we did get some other great continuations with the notables being ICarly, Doogie KameAloha, Queer Eye, and Twilight Zone 2019. There is one that manages to undo so much in a short period.
Rugrats aired from 1991-2004 with its spin-off All Grown Up going until 2008. In it we saw the babies learn the lessons of life while in their own world and mindset.
Tumblr media
With 2 movies that saw the group expand and continue to grow.
But also a finale that just seemed more to fulfill a fanfic than tell what seemed to be building up as a well defined final chapter of a story.
No matter how much 4am pudding or baby doing what a baby has to do we got to see a crown jewel of Nickelodeon thrive.
Tumblr media
Until being overtaken by a certain cleanup item from underwater that is now like the energizer bunny.
But here is where this twists. Like the aforementioned SpongeBob spinoffs Paramount+ decided to bring back the babies into the modern era of the 2020s.
Now the main 5. Tommy, Chuckie, Phil, Lil and Angelica keep the same traits and wonder that was prevalent all those years ago.
Tumblr media
But our deep dive begins here as changes are made.
Beginning with the aging down of Susie Charmichael. Now no longer the foil of Angelica, she is placed into the playpen with the other 4 as she was intended to have been around the pickles since she was born. Sometimes this is good but she worked as a foil and wise older spirit, now she’s just another member.
Tumblr media
Taking her place age wise is Kimi, and although Chas still dates Kira now Kimi is mainly thrown in where Susie once was.
But the big stuff comes with the parents. And surly enough has been said about a certain person who has been written off.
But Howard DeVille deserved better. Especially considering the original that had him meek but caring parental wise. Especially with Betty being the strong willed maternal figure for Phil and Lil.
Also prevalent is Grandpa Lou, who goes from Golden age veteran to Middle Aged spirit.
Even the normal traits of Stu and Didi seem more like box checking than homage to a classic.
There is only so much of a reboot that can be twisted before it actually starts to harm the original’s legacy.
And with Rugrats here that is the case.
Tumblr media
Now is this a bad show. No the stories are still good. With the highlights being the recreations of classic moments in the preview shorts that came out before the release.
You have an iconic property that has been around 30 years and you just fit them into modern standards. When some were curious to know how those babies would have been if they had grown up into today.
Tommy being a director, Chuckie getting together with Susie and being a risk analyst. Phil doing his own Mike Rowe style look at Americana. Lil with her sense of determination inherited from her mom becoming an entrepreneur. Dil hosting his own podcast on SoundCloud and Spotify about the mundane and weird things in our world.
Tumblr media
Even Angelica getting over her upbringing to become an important figure in the world with a loyal duo of Kimi and Harold by her side running her day to day operations. That would have been far more interesting to see.
More so if they continued to stay close and have a next generation of their own to have their own adventures like they once did.
All that we could see glimpses of here potential for something better but bogged down in 2 things that play large into calling this injustice.
Familiarity and modernization.
(Note I have no issues with characterization here I’m just pointing things out as I see them.)
And I’ll see you all in November for the countdown.

Ducktales, Woo-hoo!
I watch a lot of cartoons. In recent years (starting around 2012), Disney have come out with a series of really great serialized cartoon series that tend to gather a large following. Of these serialized cartoons, one of these was a reboot of the beloved series Ducktales from the 90's.
In this new spectacular reboot, the beloved characters Hewey, Duey and Louie get a fresh coat of paint, along with a new exciting story plus much more adventures in the town of Duckburg and beyond. I unfortunately didn't have the pleasure of starting this show when it first aired, but caught on rather quickly to the excitement that the show had to offer. Because who wouldn't? Each week, the show would have a new exciting mystery and or adventure to watch the Duck family unravel! Ducktales is a lighthearted, fun and exciting watch for all ages.
Tumblr media
The show aired starting and 2017, and came to its unfortunate end in 2021, after being cancelled by the Disney Company. This wasn't without the fans being able to see the final episode of the series that aired on March 15, 2021, since it did not receive the ratings Disney had initially expected from the show.
Now, though this show wasn't nearly as exciting as fan favorites like Gravity Falls, Amphibia and Owl House (of which I will cover at a later date)., but I still found the show to be extremely enjoyable. As someone coming into this show blindly, and without watching the original, I was very pleasantly surprised, with very few complaints regarding the series.
Tumblr media
I felt that the show did a really nice job at diving deep into the characters in Disney's already established Duck family, consisting of Hewey, Dewey, Louie, the filthy rich Scrooge McDuck and their Uncle the famous Donald Duck. But not only that, but they also expanded upon the canon of the Duck family by introducing a new character who quickly becomes part of the family: Webbigal "Webby" Vanderquack, and the mother of the iconic triplets and sister of Donald: Della Duck. Upon starting the show, I learned that this was a show whose core theme would be family, and power of it.
From this delightful little duck show, we learn that family is more than blood, and that when family comes together, they can do great things. As a children's show, I think that it is a perfect message to teach, and one worth watching as an adult. I highly recommend it.
As for it's accuracy to the original tv show, that I cannot answer, as I have not watched it yet. But if it is as good as the 2017 reboot, I definitely will watch it!

10 characters, 10 fandoms (obscure takes & slightly furry edition)
I was tagged by @tangledupblue and @reliablejoukido approximately forever ago! I’ve actually done this meme two times previously, but there are always more characters to talk about (that cannot be true forever, but we’ll say it’s true for now). So let’s get to it!
Also, I don't feel like tagging this one, but please feel free to do this if you want to! I always love to hear about peoples' favorite characters <3
1. Iago (Disney’s Aladdin)
I… I… I don't have any excuses, I just think he’s neat, ok?! There has always been something about the sarcastic talking animal sidekick trope that speaks to me, even though I can’t explain why. He’s just such a angry, self-centered, fun little guy, and he has a real character arc that runs through all of the 90s animated media! Love his role in the TV series, and I also love that he went off with Aladdin’s dad at the end of King of Thieves. For better or worse, he’s my favorite Disney character, period!
Tumblr media
2. Bad Bird/Karamaru (Samurai Pizza Cats/Kyatto Ninden Teyandee)
SPC is a show from the mid-90s era of dubs, and it’s generally beloved for taking a rather loose approach to its translation of the original source material. Bad Bird is yet another bird-type henchman, a rival to the "star" character, a bit of a punching bag, and also not-really-all-that-evil. I uh… I guess I have a type? *shifty eyes*
Tumblr media
3. Jose Carioca
Oh sh*t I lied, I do actually have ANOTHER favorite Disney character! Who is a bird!! I honestly don’t know why I have such an attachment to Jose. Three Caballeros was something I ONLY watched at my grandma’s house as a wee one, so I do have some very specific childhood memories of it, and little me always thought this charming parrot was the best part. I have never seen anything he featured in that didn’t originate in the 1940s (yeah, I slept on the DuckTales reunion because I don't have cable or Disney+), but I’ve heard he has (had?) his own long-running comic book series in Brazil. I’ve always wanted to see one of those!
Tumblr media
I uh… I definitely have a type. Who knew?? ^^;
4. Ryouga Hibiki (Ranma 1/2)
Ok look. I came into Ranma 1/2 in a pretty weird way: looking it up obsessively on the late 90s Internet, falling in love with character descriptions, screenshots and promo art, and reading fanfiction before I was able to watch or read ANY significant portions of the source material. Ryouga was always kind of my favorite back then, and he still is now (even though I have only seen a few of the OVAs and read about half of the manga). He’s just. He’s such an idiot (affectionate). But he's a great rival, a dog person, has Feelings but is incredibly awkward, and generally means well.
Tumblr media
5. Ben Wyatt (Parks and Rec)
Live action? GASP! Just… Ben Wyatt is a MOOD. The entire ensemble cast of P&R is amazing, but it’s incredible how much Adam Scott and Rob Lowe brought to the table. I am very normal about Ben, Cones of Dunshire, and the Letters to Cleo shirt (I am not).
Tumblr media
6. Lily Aldrin (How I Met Your Mother)
While I will watch Alyson Hannigan act in pretty much anything, HIMYM is a total comfort show for me, and Lily is just *chef’s kiss.* Don’t really have much more to say than that!
Tumblr media
7. Lum(?) (Urusei Yatsura)
UY has such a HUGE ensemble cast with tons of interdependencies, you practically can’t isolate one character without at least three others tagging along. You also can’t think too hard about them, because they are all idiots (affectionate) (there is definitely a distinction to make between characterization being good and characterization being deep). Lum is... not my favorite character (that might actually be the manga version of Mendo?), but she's such a dang icon, plus she’s the one I've tried to draw the most, so that… counts?? Much like Ranma 1/2, I also have to factor in all the years I spent wanting to experience UY. Amazingly enough, I've seen more of it than Ranma at this point!
Currently wishing I could watch the reboot too, because the manga characterization/version of events might actually be getting their day in the sun? :D
Tumblr media
8. Bentley (Sly Cooper)
Oof. OOF. Why did I do this to myself. The Sly Cooper series is a 3D platforming series from the PS2 era of video games. Penelope from Sly 3 might be my favorite character conceptually (she brings something really fun to the table, and geek girls FTW!), but her being The Fave is hampered by the fact that she only appears in the one game (What's that? Sly 4? Sorry, don't know what you're talking about). Sly 2 is hands-down my favorite entry in the franchise, and while he’s really difficult to play as, Bentley’s development across the original trilogy is… ghhh. IT’S SO GOOD, as are his friendships with Sly and Murray. Bentley!!! (I still love you though Penelope, you got done so dirty).
Tumblr media
9. Donatello (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles)
I don’t believe I’ve watched/played/read any TMNT property that is younger than a third-grader at this point. But Donnie’s the Smart One, and he is Purple. ‘Nuff said!!
Tumblr media
OK so. Birds and smart turtles. We're learning more about what my types are all the time...
10. Daisuke Jigen (Lupin III)
I have not seen much Lupin III. But Jigen is cool <3
Tumblr media
(I also like hats).

Okay
So
Here's a concept
It's wild so buckle in
You know how MLP and Strawberry Shortcake, Scooby-Doo, and TMNT and all those old shows that come from like the 80s get reboots like, constantly. Like every few, years, maybe like, a decade. Because they're so popular and iconic
Hold that concept
You know how our childhood cartoons have gotten or will be getting reboots, like the Rugrats, Animaniacs, Ducktales, etc.
It's the same thing.
It's literally the same thing.
The quality is debatable, sure, fine, but that's not my point. My point is most people are blinded by nostalgia to not notice its the same goddamn thing.
Tbh it could be seen as a badge of honor, in a way, that these cartoons are so popular and influential that a reboot or reimagining is worth doing, or at least, trying.
Idk what I'm trying to say here, that reboots and reimaginings aren't something new, it's BEEN happening.

DuckTales (1987) Season 1 Episode 1: Don't Give Up the Ship
Directed By Alan Zaslove
Produced By Disney Television Animation.
Written By Jymn Magon, Bruce Talkington & Mark Zaslove
Animated By Wang Film Production, Cuckoo’s Nest Studio, TMS Entertainment, Burbank Films
Original Air date: September 18, 1987 (premiere)
Tumblr media
1) Technique section:
Cel Animation. Cel animation is the process of manually drawing 2D animation on sheets of clear plastic called "cels."
After a planning phase, animators transfer rough sketches onto translucent plastic sheets known as cels. On one side of the plastic, each cel has a single drawing that is filled in with colour on the other. Then, these "cels" are set up over a backdrop and captured in succession.
They give the impression of movement when played back at a speed of 12 or 24 frames per second.
Even though 2D animation of today uses several cel animation techniques, computers are used for practically all of the work. Despite digital tools is utilised to speed up the process, 2D animations are still created mostly human animators.

2) Representation section:
The show follows Scrooge McDuck, his three grandnephews Huey, Dewey, and Louie, as well as close friends of the group, on various adventures. The majority of these either involve seeking out treasure or thwarting the efforts of villains trying to steal Scrooge's fortune or his Number One Dime. The show is based on Uncle Scrooge and other Duck universe comic books created by Carl Barks.
When their Uncle Donald joins the Navy, Scrooge McDuck is forced to take in his three nephews Huey, Dewey, and Louie. As they get along, the mysterious El Capitán employs the Beagle Boys to rob Scrooge's museum of a miniature wooden ship, claiming it is a map to a real treasure ship.
3) Reception section:
Collider's Maximilian Leunig stated, "Characters that had previously only appeared in comic books were introduced in this legendary series, especially those created by Carl Barks and Don Rosa. Famous antagonists like Magica De Spell, the Beagle Boys, and Flintheart Glumgold, as well as allies like Gyro Gearloose and Glittering Goldie, were included in this group. Naturally, the programme also gave rise to adored sidekicks like Launchpad McQuack, Gizmoduck, and Webby, all of whom added adventure and excitement to this Disney classic."
According to Common Sense Media's Emily Ashby, who gave the programme a rating of 4 out of 5, "During its four-year run in the 1980s, DuckTales was a huge hit with viewers, and it still entertains today thanks to its great stories, exciting adventures, and iconic Disney characters like Scrooge McDuck and the dynamic trio of Huey, Dewey, and Louie. Because the stories frequently take place in exotic locales like Greece, Antarctica, and the Klondike, young readers are exposed to fundamental geographical ideas and a variety of global cultures."
DuckTales was named second by BuzzFeed's Jeremy Hayes in their "Best Cartoons From The '80s" list, stating that it is "perhaps the finest Disney cartoon show ever; from what I've seen of this show, the animation and voice acting truly stand out." The series continued for four seasons after its September 1987 premiere and is frequently cited as one of the most underappreciated cartoons ever."
The series was so successful that they even made a reboot in 2017.
Along with a theatrical animated spin-off feature named DuckTales the Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp, which was released to cinemas across the United States on August 3, 1990, DuckTales has served as inspiration for video games, merchandising, and comic books. Because it was the first Disney animated series made for weekday syndication, the success of the show paved the door for later Disney animated series, including Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers and TaleSpin, which led to the creation of the syndicated block The Disney Afternoon. Mark Mueller composed the show's well-known theme song. Launchpad McQuack eventually made a comeback and became a prominent figure in the Disney cartoon film Darkwing Duck.
I personally love this series so much. Though at that time I didn't understand what they were talking about (because English is not my first language, and I wasn't thought English until I was older), I can still remember the opening theme song until today. It is one of the most iconic animation series of all time.
