Hi I just had a question about the ectoberhaunt. So the 150 words after the Read more or 10 lines/chunks of text. Is that basically a hard word limit? If so that what ballpark are we looking at for summary/preview before hand?

the word/line limit is for if you need a readmore or not. the 150 words/10 lines is an example of when you should include a readmore.

there's 0 limit to how much you are allowed to write, we just ask that longer fics get posted under a readmore with a summary of what to expect before clicking it.

if long fics do not get a readmore, we simply will not reblog it.

Is that canon!?! Was Machete just really naive/didn't really understand the implications of his relationship to Vasco? Did his mentor ever find out about them or discuss such things with him? I assume bc he didn't have parents, he kinda didn't get educated on sex or anything. Was it a big shock to realize he was "sinning"?

#eh I was just exaggerating it for comedy because the page was so unintentionally funny and fitting #he might've been a little bit naive but was painfully aware he was in a relationship with a man and that it was forbidden #his mentor was all about asceticism and mortification and extreme self-denial #and had drilled it into his head that practically all romantic feelings let alone sex were foolish and sinful and should be shunned #so his feelings about the whole thing were complicated but in the end Vasco was more important #not to sound corny #but there was a hole in his heart that he had desperately tried to fill with god that never seemed to care about him #and once he got some of that love he had been aching for #from another living person #he had to do what it takes to make room for that in his belief system #how could such a tender fulfilling and healing thing be wrong #answered #anonymous #his mentor did eventually find out about them and wasn't very happy about it #to put it mildly #but by that point Machete had managed to mostly inch his way out from under his heel #he was graduating and getting ordained and wouldn't be going back to Naples #if it were up to him he'd never want to see him again

Danse macabre is also known as dance of death.

For more specific definitions, danse macabre "is a 15th-century conceit, both pictorial and textual, of the humbling power of death." "It depicts people from all social stations dancing to, or around, the grave with Death as their guide." [Source]

In more classical manifestations, "it is a literary or pictorial representation of a procession or dance of both living and dead figures, the living arranged in order of their rank, from pope and emperor to child, clerk, and hermit, and the dead leading them to the grave." [Source]

As with any of the other prompts we have, the interpretation of this concept is entirely up to you. Feel free to explore the many meanings a "dance of death" can have, either in a wider sense or the more traditional conception of it.

Thank you for letting me know you support Endos so I can unfollow and block you. I cannot continue to follow someone who supports a harmful and undermining group who cast aside the pain and trauma true systems face. I hope you can one day better yourself and do research on the misinformation, and sometimes malicious harm, Endos cause on the system community.

a) this is not an airport, you don’t have to announce your departure

b) I have done the research. I’ve just come to a conclusion that disagrees with yours, that being that 1) a non-pathological form of [x] existing doesn’t mean a pathological form of it can’t also exist (and vice versa), 2) it’s impossible to sustain an anti-endo stance without violating the principle of not telling people I know their own subjective, internal experiences better than they do, and 3) a good 90% of sysmed talking points are unsupported and best and outright disprovable at worst.

Provide me an argument against endogenic systems that I can’t debunk and we can talk. Until then, I’m not into denying people’s lived experiences for no real reason.

Have you read the locked tomb series by Tamsyn Muir? Vasco gives off moderate Gideon vibes and Machete gives off HUGE Harrowhark vibes

(and no spoilers for why I'm saying this but it would be FASCINATING to see Machete as a Nona-like character)

If you haven't read it, it's catholic necromancers and swordswomen in space in the future. God is a twitch streamer. Jesus is a lesbian. Everyone is a lesbian. One of the main characters is a schizophrenic nun in love with the corpse of a dead planet who has taken the form of a living human sized barbie doll. Another of the main characters is the most scrungly fucked up rat woman you will ever meet.

If you can't tell, I love the locked tomb and want to write a crossover fic with Vasco and Machete lol

I haven't read it but I've certainly heard of it, mostly good things. People keep recommending it to me, telling me I might like it based on my art and vibes, and Machete has been compared to Harrowhark specifically a whole bunch of times.

-> What style to use?

Your own! I would love it if you can have as much fun as you can making the panel! The more unique each panel is the better, I dont want to constrict anyones artistic ability outside dialogue, where characters are in a room, and a vague framing idea/expressions.

As for coloring, fully colored and digital would be preferred! Just blue blobs can also work! With the exception of 4 specific panels, flashback panels, in a black/white/red scheme to help differentiate what panel is a flashback, and what panel isnt. I will let you know if your panel is one of those specific 4!

-> How will posting and crediting work?

When the panels are all done, I will gather them up into a singular post on this blog. Below the comic itself in order of panels would be everyones @ to the blog they want credited, Multiple blogs can also be credited ofc (For example If you drew panel 3 you will be the third @ on the list)

You are also free to add a signature or @ to your blog in the panel art itself!
