Mmmmmm new genre, free-to-torture hero!!! have funnnn cute butt~
These were probably the first ten minutes in the last twenty-four hours which were bearable. Assessing the situation was difficult, given the lack of information the hero had.
A lot of broken ribs and neither their femur nor their back were doing so well either. In truth, the hero was quite sure they wouldn’t survive this. The first hours or so had been alright: even though they didn’t have any weapons, they were doing pretty well, fighting against whoever came through that door, but with time, they’d grown weaker and with that, were subdued by the torture and violence.
“I came as soon as I heard. An opportunity like this attracts many flies.” The hero looked up at their nemesis who seemed uncharacteristically unfocused. They avoided the hero’s eyes, walking up and down the small room the supervillain had set up. “You got a lot of fans waiting for you outside.”
The hero didn’t answer. They were exhausted, ready for the villain’s fist or a knife. With the only rule being “don’t kill the hero,” they were ready for a lot worse. A few broken bones were merciful.
But the villain didn’t lash out. Instead they walked over to the hero and crouched down.
“How many people were in here?” The hero shrugged and it was the truth: they didn’t know. Time was weird here. It was weird when they were outside of their normal routines. “Alright…”
The villain sighed and to the hero’s huge surprise they opened a water bottle.
“It’s cold, so be careful,” they warned and buried their hand in the hero’s hair at the back of their head. They pulled a little, forcing the hero to lean back and drink when they connected the bottle with their lips.
And the hero did drink, greedily.
“Easy,” the villain said, decreasing the tilt of the bottle. “Take it easy.”
The hero grabbed the villain’s wrists weakly when they pulled away.
“It’s alright,” the villain mumbled. “It’s yours, okay?”
The hero didn’t let go of them, they couldn’t. They weren’t ready for more pain, for more broken bones.
Hell, they’d been in their apartment, all vulnerable when the supervillain had kidnapped them. They weren’t even sure if they could find peace again if they went home. Being torn out of their bed, drugged, beaten…they hadn’t had time to think about it but for some reason, all of it came crashing down on them.
With the little strength they had left, they pulled the villain towards them and the villain made a sound close to a yelp. They nearly fell onto the hero. However, they managed to put their hand on the wall behind their enemy and steady themselves.
Rather desperately, the hero realised that all the stability they had left came from their nemesis. An enemy they knew better than anyone, an enemy who knew them better than anyone. They cupped their face, thumbs on the villain’s cheeks and their other fingers around their jawline.
“I’m so glad you’re here,” the hero whispered. They were nose to nose and the distance between them was less than little. Lips nearly touching. They were breathing the same air, each other’s air, looking at each other, holding each other…
“I…” the villain began but didn’t manage to finish. They couldn’t seem to concentrate today. Their eyes dropped to the hero’s lips but jumped back up in the split of a second.
“Do they pay to be in here?” the hero asked. It was a question that had just crossed their mind. If there was one thing more humiliating than being locked up and tortured, it was someone else making money with it.
“…at first, no. The supervillain changed their mind, though. 10,000 for ten minutes. 75,000 for an hour,” they said. They started to move softly, letting their fingertips go over the hero’s torso. Whenever they touched a broken rib, the hero hissed, tears forming in their eyes and it was with great despair that they caught themselves wanting to beg.
They hadn’t begged. Hadn’t sobbed when the others didn’t pull their punches. But right now, with the villain touching them, the hero wanted to beg and cry. They wanted to completely shatter in the villain’s arms.
“I wanted to pay more but they only let me do an hour,” the villain said gently. “I don’t think I can do much in that time, but…”
They’d brought painkillers, bandages, food…the hero wanted to cry their eyes out and come with them but they also knew that both of them would be killed as soon as they came out of that door.
“I’ll find a way to get you out of here. One of my henchmen is coming by later today as well. He’ll bring you something warm to eat.” They started working on the hero’s torso, bandaging wounds and stitching the nasty ones. The whole time, the hero needed to touch them, needed to feel their skin on theirs.
More than once, the villain reminded them that they needed both hands to stitch the wound.
“You’ll be out by tomorrow, I promise. I know it’s too much to ask for but…I need you to hold on a little more.”
The hero nodded weakly but their tears wouldn’t stop when the hour was over.

Crawling
2, 3, 4, 5
@epiclamer soooooo you want some villain caretaker? Imma give u some hecking villain caretaker.
Hero gagged, choking slightly. They balled their fist up and shoved it towards their mouth and stifled the string of coughs. They glanced down at the stairs. Five stairs. I got this.
Hero leant forward again, grabbing the handrail. Their hands slipped off the edge and left a dark stain. With a sigh, they slowly crawled up the steps. Behind them, the rain pelted on the roof in a steady rhythm, matching their fluttering heart. Hero shuddered, and pressed a palm into their stinging eye. They reached a trembling hand up to the doorbell and pressed it hard, panting like a dog.
A faint, jingly tune sounded inside the house. Hero squeezed their eyes shut and prayed it was a Civillian’s home they’d chosen. 17 Heightvale Cross. Please be a regular house.
The doorbell faded out, and Hero felt a single tear slip down their cheek at the idea that no one was home. That was stupid, of course, they had neighbours either side, but Hero had been drawn to this particular address. They glanced over their shoulder, face paling at the thought of braving the rain again just as the door opened.
“Who the fuck-”
Hero looked up in disbelief. It was Villain’s house. Just my luck.
They smiled sheepishly and coughed again, gagging on their own saliva. Worry clouded Villain’s face, and they knelt down to assess their nemesis. “So this is what happened when you went missing.”
Hero nodded slowly. “I-I’m sorry, Master. How can I make it up to you?” they whimpered, shivering. Hero looked down at the ground and wiped their bloody hand on the concrete.
Villain flinched at the name, before taking a deep breath and kicking the door. “You can start by coming inside and telling me what- and who- the fuck happened.”
Hero smiled and squeezed their sore eye shut to rest it. “Th-thank you Master,” they said, crawling inside slowly. Villain shook their head and offered Hero their hand. “None of that. You can call me Villain, and Villain only.”
“Of course Master- I mean- of course, Villain.”

Writing Prompt #8:
"Hey, hey! Are you alive?" The villain snapped twice in the hero's face. They crouched down to the sprawled body in front of them, snapping twice again before shaking them.
"Are you still breathing?" The villain asked, laughing inside when the hero glanced at them with a tired look, sighing in either disappointment or frustration. Probably both.
"Sadly,"

hello hello! after an accidental hiatus, I'm back with an entry into the surrender an ask game that @save-the-villainous-cat and @epiclamer put together where we all swapped asks. thanks so much for doing this!!!
here's my ask: Hi! I’ve become obsessed with your Hero Gets Yanked By An Upstanding Citizen Into Their Window And Into Their Heart post and I was wondering if you could- maybe- on the off chance- if you have time- come back to it for another scene? I just love the duo’s dynamic so much, the lovable hero who is trying a little too hard at any given chance, and the citizen who is wholly unafraid to manhandle a superhero into their home and into their life. That’s the vibes I was getting from their short interaction anyway- I love them so much aaagugfyduhijigififiguftgb your writing makes me go insane” Submitted by @yourheartonfire
The hero checks once, twice behind their shoulders, then collapses on to the rickety fire escape. It's off the beaten path, away from anyone. Sure, there's a little prickle of guilt that it's a Saturday night, and there are probably dozens of crimes afoot that need their attention.
But the past few weeks have run them absolutely ragged. If they didn't know better, they'd think that someone was scheming against them deliberately. call after call, summons after summons, each one more dire than the last.
People count on them—people need them, and they like the feeling of being needed. But they're exhausting, aching, injured, absolutely spent. Their leg throbs with a recent injury that they haven't had time to treat, and they can't remember the last time they slept more than three hours at a time.
They lean their head back against the scarred brick of the apartment building, letting their eyes slip closed....
.....and when a wailing siren sounds in the distance, the hero tries not to whimper.
Get up. It's time to go.
And they do get up. Too quickly.
Their toe catches on the edge of the rickety fire escape, and before the hero can react, they're falling, tumbling, twisting, too exhausted and spent to do anything to stop the inevitable pull of gravity on their body.
The last thing they see is the extended metal overhanging of the fire escape before pain shot through their body, and darkness overtook them.
_________________
The hero hoped that when they awoke, they'd somehow find themselves in their own spase, yet comfortable bed, that the last two months had been just a nightmare.
Instead, they hear frustrated, disembodied grunts and feel someone pulling at them, tugging them over something hard and metal and painful for their aching body.
"Get...in...here..."
The hero wants to swat the hands away, but their limbs are dead weight at their sides, and their voice gets stuck in their throat when they try to cry out. So darkness falls again.
_________________
When the hero wakes a second time, they're aware of a throbbing in their bad leg and a pounding in their head, and an ache that's more painful than anything they've ever felt. They're in a dark room, save for a softly glowing salt lamp in the far corner, and they're aware of being tucked under a thick, soft blanket on some sort of couch or daybed.
It's comfortable, safe, warm—and wrong. They have no idea where they are or who they're with, nor how long they've been there, nor how many lives have been lost while they've been knocked unconscious.
They try to call out, but the "hey" comes out as more of a raspy whisper, and the blanket is far too heavy for them to toss from their broken body. In their efforts to move, something gets knocked over with a crash.
"Hey, hey, hey now, don't move. Shhhh." A figure darts into the room and the hero feels two hands against their shoulders, pressing them back into the bed.
"W--where..."
"You're....here. At my apartment. Figured I didn't want to leave you out on my fire escape all night." The shadowed figure flicks on another lamp and the hero winces, hand flying to touch their face—
Their bare face.
A strangled cry flees their throat. Not only have they failed their city, but someone's seen their face, seen how utterly, desperately ordinary they are beneath it all. This someone knows who they are and could ruin it all. Their eyes flicker up to see the stranger standing at the foot of their bed, holding their disguise tenderly in their hands.
"I'm so sorry....I didn't want to take it off, but you were bleeding from a pretty nasty forehead cut, and I didn't want to leave it too long." The stranger's hand lightly ghosts over their hairline, and the hero realizes there's some sort of thick bandage over where the throbbing is radiating from. "I won't tell a soul. Promise. If you have some sort of mind control....thing, you can even erase my memories, if you want, but you need like....a ton of medical attention first. I've done first aid and an outdoor wilderness survival class a couple times, but you probably need some kind of doctor, but I get if you don't want to do that with your identity and all that...."
"Won't....won't bother you" the hero slurs, trying to sit up again, before collapsing back down. Try as they might, they couldn't leave this cursed couch.
"Oh no, no, you're not bothering me at all. You just sorta...freaked me out, is all. And there was a TON of blood, and I couldn't just leave you there, so I just kinda—" the stranger motions with their hands "yanked you right in here, did some first aid, and here we are." The stranger adjust the blankets, tucking the hero in tighter. "You looked pretty banged up."
I supposed I did, the hero muses to themselves. "It's....been a rough few weeks. But I'm okay."
"You sure?" The stranger's brows furrow, and their hand gestures to their leg. "I'm no doctor, but that gash on your leg looks...pretty bad. Shouldn't someone be looking after that?"
Hero hears the subtext of the question. Shouldn't someone be looking after YOU?
The hero isn't quite sure what to say to that. How long has it been since someone tended their wounds, tucked them in, brought them in from the elements, and asked how they were?
"I'm....I'm alright." Hero's mortified to hear the smallest wobble in their voice.
"Hero, that's not what I asked." The stranger's voice is firm, yet gentle, their hand resting on their uninjured knee.
"Right." The hero sniffles, suddenly unable to speak.
The stranger seems to understand the thousand thoughts of the hero's mind that flood the silence, then gently pats their other uninjured leg. "Well, in that case, it's time we get started now that you're awake. I'll get the bandages, and we'll really get you cleaned up and take stock of how much healing you've got ahead of you. No promises, though—I told you, it's only a couple first-aid classes, so don't you judge my wound dressings."
Hero's suprised to hear their own thin, crackly laugh. "Wouldn't dare."

[For @epiclamer and @save-the-villainous-cat's ask game
what is the ask game?
Original ask (submitted to @thepenultimateword):
hurt/comfort featuring Hero or Vigilante w a 'monstrous' power? Like, it's a part of their appearance (scales, tail, wings, fangs, or something), and they experience prejudice from the other heros and the public. Maybe panicking after a bad fight n Villain helps?]
Don't Think Like That
Be warned: discrimination based on looks/ fantasy racism, instances of violence, knives
The hero fell back onto the concrete. The villain pounced on them and pressed a knife to their neck.
“You’re bluffing,” the hero said.
“Maybe. Tell me where the governor’s hiding and you won’t have to find out.” the villain said.
“Well, then you better-”
The hero was interrupted by the villain being pulled off them. Someone roughly tossed their enemy to the other side of the parking lot. The hero heard a cry of pain as the villain hit the ground. The hero sat up and watched as a familiar blur of super speed ran to the villain and pulled them back to where the hero was, cuffed and kneeling, in less than a second. The villain looked very confused at the chains on their ankles and wrists.
“You’re welcome,” said the other hero, his smile glinting under the dim streetlights.
“Yeah, thanks.” The hero said.
“I thought your type was supposed to be better at seeing in the dark. Still needed help, eh?”
the hero looked down, self conscious of their green, reptilian eyes. A thumb subconsciously rubbed the spattering of scales on their arm.
“Anyway, I think I’ll take this one-” the other hero grabbed the villain’s bicep and hauled them to their feet. “-back to the precinct for you.”
The hero sighed. “So you can get the credit? We’ve been fighting for like half an hour. I think-”
“I think you had a knife to your throat. Too bad you don’t have scales there, right? Would have been helpful. But you didn’t, and I had to save you. So it should have been my arrest.”
The villain, who had been struggling against the other hero’s grip, raised an eyebrow at that. They gave the hero a look that the hero chose to ignore. They were well aware of the other hero’s interesting perspective.
“It was part of the plan!”
“Sure it was.”
“I would have gotten information on their kidnapping plan for the governor. That’s the mission I was sent out on in the first place!”
“Hate to break it to you, snake face, but cold blood won’t make you bleed out any slower.”
“Can we circle back to this mission of yours?” the villain asked the hero.
“Shut your mouth.” The other hero kicked the villain in the shin.
The villain let out a cry of pain. The hero stood up and stepped closer to the other hero.
“Don’t hurt my villain.” the hero said.
“Are you sure this should even be your villain? Seems a bit too advanced for you. Do you get slow in colder weather?”
The hero was done playing nice. They reached out and grabbed the chain of the villain’s handcuffs. In response, the other hero’s grip on the villain’s arm tightened.
“Get your hand off my villain,” the hero said sternly.
The other hero’s eyes narrowed. His smile at last dropped.
“No.”
“This is flattering,” the villain said.
“I said shut up.” the other hero snapped.
Before they could get another kick in, the hero wound up and punched them in the face. The other hero stopped and staggered back in a daze, eyes watering. His grip loosened on the villain, and the villain slammed their shoulder into his windpipe. A right hook from the hero, and the other hero collapsed onto the ground of the car park.
“Great punch,” the villain said.
The hero grabbed the chain of the villain’s cuffs and tugged them close.
“Don’t tell anyone about this,” they said. “Please.”
The villain was going to refuse point blank. But there was an intense panic in the hero’s snake-like eyes.
“Sure. That guy was such a jackass, anyway. Does he say stuff like that all the time?” the villain asked.
“Yeah.” the hero sighed. “It’s not just him. Not even just other heroes. But yeah.”
“Sorry about that.”
“Well none of them ever punched me in the face-”
“Twice.” the villain smiled.
“-twice, so I think I’m ahead in the ‘being a jerk’ department.”
“Well, how many racist comments equals a punch? I think you’re far behind.”
“Hmm. Fair point.”
“Does it make you feel better to know I only hate you because of your personality?”
The hero laughed. They seemed much more calm than a minute ago.
“Thanks.”
“No problem. Personally, I think your eyes are pretty.”
“I. . .”
The hero trailed off. The villain was still really close. They could see their enemy’s eyes travelling over their own. Over the scales on their forehead. Over their lips. The hero was frozen for a second, heart beating faster than they cared for. They pushed the villain away and ended the moment.
“Come on,” the hero said. “I need to find the keys to your cuffs off the person I just knocked out.”

Look at me posting this on the deadline LMFAO BUT ITS NOT LATE SO LOOK AT ME GO WOOOOO. This is for @epiclamer's and @save-the-villainous-cat's super cute ask game which was GENIUS!!! This was so so much fun thank you!!! @hufflepuffwritingstuff22 had an ask in their inbox: “Hero being brainwashed and forced to fight their friends.”
---
"Please, Hero!" Sidekick's desperate voice sounded through the room. "I know this isn't you. Think of who I am! C'mon, Hero, please!!!"
Tears streamed down their face as they desperately kicked away fro the 'stranger' before them. That wasn't Hero/ Surely Hero wouldn't do this!
They whimpered as their back hit the wall, gulping hard as they watched Hero continue to stride towards them, switchblade twirling in hand.
"Oh, but Sidekick, don't you understand? This is me. All this time I have been trying to hide it,but now, bow it's too late. You've gone too far. You're a disappointment to not only me, but yourself."
Sidekick gulped as the words carved antagonizingly slow into their heart, their chest growing tight as they tried to keep their breathing level. Their eyes flickered up to Hero's, tears threatening to fall. Their voice came out as a weak rasp, "This is-isn't you..."
They had given up hope at this point, how were they supposed to get through to Hero???
A fist tightened in Sidekick's shirt and hauled them to their feet before they were suddenly slammed against the wall. Sidekick wheezed as they felt all the air leave their body, their eyes blowing wide.
They flinched hard as Hero raised their fist, squeezing their eyes shut as a whimper ripped from their throat but Hero's fist quickly collided with their cheek.
Blood splatted against the ground as they coughed, "He-h'ro... 'm.. pl'se..." Blood ran down from their mouth, their vision spotting. Punch after punch was delivered until Sidekick screamed, breaking into sobs as their body shook with each cry.
As Villain entered the door, Hero instantly dropped Sidekick to the floor. "Hero, to me."
Sidekick watched in horror, wheezing on the floor as Hero quickly made their way over to Villain before dropping to their knees.
Sidekick tried to swallow back bile as they slowly sat up, "Wha-what did you do?"
Villain chuckled softly, a cool smirk painting along their face as they looked at Sidekick, "Oh, this? Oh honey, what I did to Hero is exactly what I am going to do to you. Now Sidekick," They clicked their finger, "I need you to focus on my voice and my voice only."
Sidekick flinched back as Villain's hand rested against their head, a sudden presence filling their head as they lost full control. And suddenly it kicked in. Their thoughts weren't theirs. And as they approached Hero, a clenched fist either side, they had to watch as someone forced them to fight their mentor. Fight the last person who had fate in them. How would Hero ever forgive them?

It Hurts
For @epiclamer , who evidently is in dire need of Hero whump with a Villain caretaker!
"Hero, Hero! Calm down, what's wrong?"
Hero's sobs could be heard on the other line.
"I-it hurts," Hero cried, "Villain, it hurts!"
Villain clutched the phone tight in their hand as they made their way out the front door.
"Where are you?" Villain asked.
"S-somewhere in the city park."
The line went dangerously quiet.
"Hero, stay on the phone. Keep talking to me. What happened?"
"Other Villain- *hiccup*- Other Villain, they jumped me, injected me with something. Villain, it burns."
Villain's heartrate picked up at the sound of Hero's sobs. They got in their car, completely disregarding the speed limit in hopes that they'd reach Hero soon.
...
Hero writhed and thrashed on the ground. Their injection site stung and burned, but all of their veins felt like they were truly on fire. Hero didn't even register the footsteps rapidly approaching them.
Villain dropped to their knees and cradled Hero's head in their lap.
"Hero, I'm right here, it's gonna be okay."
"Make it stop," Hero begged, "please."
Villain didn't know what to do. They could take Hero to a hospital, but then their identity might be compromised. There was only one thing they knew to do to ease Hero's pain.
"Hero, I've got a sedative in my belt," Villain said slowly, "it'll put you to sleep until whatever this is wears off. Do you want it?"
Hero only howled in response, tears streaming down their face. That was enough for Villain. They took the syringe out of their belt pocket and gently brought the needle into Hero's skin, injecting the contents into their system.
Hero still felt pain, but it was becoming more distant as their eyes grew heavier. They felt Villain lift them up into a bridal carry before the world went dark.
...
The first thing Hero felt upon waking was a faint burning in their body. The next thing they felt was a hand carding through their hair. They opened their eyes and turned their head to the side.
"Villain?" Hero asked dazedly.
"Hey there," Villain said, "how are you feeling?"
"It still hurts but... not as bad."
Villain looked visibly relieved.
"Good," Villain said, "that's good to hear."
"Where... where am I?"
"My base."
Hero looked around. They were in a large, plush bed in an even larger room. The curtains were drawn shut, and only a sliver of light trickled through.
"Try to rest," Villain said, "now that you're awake, I have some business to attend to."
Villain started to leave.
"Wait!"
Hero swung their legs over the side of the bed and stood to follow them, but they overestimated their ability to support themselves. Their shaky knees buckled. Villain whipped around and dove to catch them.
"You were sedated, remember?" Villain asked.
"I wasn't really paying attention," Hero admitted.
"Well, you're still gonna be weak and out of it for a while," Villain said, depositing them back in the bed, "just rest and wait for me. I'll be back soon."
"Where are you going?" Hero asked.
Villain pulled the covers back up to Hero's chin.
"To take down Other Villain, of course."
Villain planted a small kiss on Hero's forehead, then left to get their revenge. After all, no one hurts their Hero and gets away with it.

For @epiclamer who requested villain caretaker! (cause it’s my fav trope)
TRIGGER WARNING: briefly mentioned/suggested SA, but nothing too graphic, AND mention of death at the end
Villain made their way deeper into Supervillain’s lair. “What the hell?” they snarled, as a prison cell came into view. “Since when did you hold prisoner’s captive?”
Supervillain curled their lip. “Since about two weeks ago. Come, see my newest prize.” They led Villain over to the dimly lit corner.
As Villain approached, a face came into view. Even though it was stubborn and exhausted, they’d recognize that face anywhere. “Hero?” Villain asked, a laugh breaking through. They smirked, glaring down at their nemesis. “Oh, wow, Hero, how far you’ve fallen. Villain reached in between the bars and tilted Hero’s chin up with their hands. “Someone finally brought you to your knees, huh?”
Supervillain chuckled. “Yeah, in more ways than one.”
Hero blinked hard and turned away, worrying their bottom lip. Villain snatched their hand back immediately as though they’d been burned. “What?”
Supervillain sighed. “Consider this a blessing, Villain. I don’t think they’ll be bothering you anytime soon. In fact, I’m even willing to let you have a turn.”
Hero shuddered.
“What...” Villain slowly turned to face Supervillain. “What the fuck did you just say?”
Supervillain rolled their eyes. “Oh, I forgot how possessive you are. But don’t worry. I fixed them. You should be thanking me. They needed to know their place, and now they do. They’ll be whatever I want them to be.”
“You... you...” Villain felt like they were going to be sick. “You violated them.”
“Don’t be so dramatic,” Supervillain scoffed. “I didn’t force them to do anything. It was just a matter of them putting that mouth of their’s to use. They could have walked out whenever they wanted to.”
Villain turns to glance at their nemesis, whose face was burning with humilation. Villain clenched their fists. “Is that so, Hero?”
Hero lowered their eyes, ashamed. “I... it was better than the other thing they wanted from me.”
Villain scowled. “And what was that?”
“They wanted me to... to kill you. And I wouldn’t... I wouldn’t do it. Even if we hate each other. I can’t, and I won’t kill someone.” Hero wouldn’t meet Villain’s alarmed gaze.
Filled with an emotion they could not place, Villain turned back to their boss. “How could you?”
“How could I? We’re supposed to be the bad guys here. I was just making sure your pathetic little hero knew that we weren’t to be messed with.” Supervillain jeered at Hero, to which they shrunk away. “It’s just a bit of fun.”
“That is not... that is not fun. You assaulted them! That’s not the same as robbing a bank or an art heist or even a ransom kidnapping, and you know it. It’s just... it’s cruel.” Villain’s hand hovered over their dagger. “This is what you wanted, wasn’t it? To break them the only way you knew how?”
The sinister look in Supervillain’s eyes told Villain everything they needed to know.
Without a second thought,  Villain plunged their dagger into Supervillain’s chest. Crimson spilled over the knife as Supervillain crumpled to the ground, but Villain had already turned their attention to Hero, punching an emergency signal into their phone.
“Are you alright?” they breathed, already knowing the answer.
Hero laughed brokenly. “I don’t know.” Their voice was weak. “Can you...” They paused, clearly embarrassed. “I need help.”
Villain ran a hand through their hair. “Yeah, Hero. I know. Help is on the way, alright?”
Hero nodded, silent. Their shoulders began to shake, and they leaned over onto their knees, silently sobbing.
Villain startled. “Jesus, Hero...” they trailed off, at a loss for words. They extended their hand through the bars, careful to let the Hero decide if they were comfortable with it.
Hero peeked up at them, and then leaned into the contact. “I’m so, so sorry,” they cried.
Villain’s hand wound through Hero’s hair. “Shhh. It’s not your fault, okay? Listen to me: it is not your fault.”
Villain began to pull away, trying to give Hero space, but Hero grabbed their wrist weakly. “Wait. Please.”
“Help is on the way,” Villain repeated.
Hero grimaced. “I know, but- Villain, please. Don’t... don’t leave me here.”
Villain’s resilience shattered, and suddenly it didn’t matter whether or not they were discovered. This was an extenuating circumstance. and knowing their nemesis was quite literally begging not to be left alone...
They decided it was worth the risk.

Hello @epiclamer ! I saw you were looking for some hero whumpee and villain caretaker, I hope this could suffice :)
CW/TW: Hypothermia and frostbite, near death experience, whump
The room was immersed in white. Creeping over the metal walls and across the concrete floor. Icicles hung from the ceiling and left the floor slick and shining. The patterns would have been beautiful in any other case, spindling across the room in delicate flakes, but now they left the Hero shivering.
Their thin t-shirt served as almost no defense against the blistering temperatures- their coat had been taken long ago. Now Hero shook, red blotching their exposed forearms and stinging their cheeks.
Hero shifted, trying to touch as little of their bare skin to the concrete as possible. The chill numbed their muscles, though it didn’t take the pain of the bruises away. Supervillain had made sure of that.
Energy seeped out of them too fast to keep up. Too many times they had caught their eyelids threatening to slip shut. Their fingertips had frozen to the point they couldn’t feel them anymore. Hero was helpless, trapped in the pain that couldn’t even be healed by sleep. Their tears crystallized when they couldn’t hold it in anymore.
When the click of the latch sounded, Hero went rigid. Fingers numb, they couldn’t form so much as a fist, much less fight off anything more that came their way. Supervillain knew this as they strode in.
“My, you’re looking a bit blue my dear,” Their lips split in a cruel smile. Supervillain stepped forward and Hero inched back. They couldn’t do it- couldn’t fight-
Hero’s back bumped against the wall and they flinched from the new wave of cold that shot up their spine. Trapped, and Supervillain was well aware.
“Don’t look so afraid now. You know what I want,” They stepped forward before Hero could scramble away- not that they had the strength to- and grabbed a fistful of their hair. It crackled with the frost that had settled in their locks. “You’re only making this harder on yourself, and really, I don’t think you have much left to give.”
Supervillain yanked harshly on Hero’s hair and received a sharp cry in return. Hero fought to pry their fingers away but their own muscles were stiff. It was like moving through molasses, they couldn’t even manage to grasp Supervillain’s hand.
“It's lovely seeing you struggle,” they chuckled, pulling Hero so close that they could feel the breath upon their cheek. Warm. Their hands shifted to either side of Hero’s cheek, and they couldn’t help but lean into the touch, starved of heat for much too long. “Now, give in and we can forget this mess.”
They eyed Hero expectantly, brushing a finger down Hero’s cheek and leaving them chasing the trail of warmth that followed. It was a wicked game to play, though it was working. Hero wished to be free- to have their bones no longer encased in ice. It hurt to think, hurt to breathe. Supervillain’s touch was like fire, beautiful and comforting- and yet-
“I c-can’t.” The words were broken as they fell from Hero’s mouth.
Supervillain’s expression darkened. “You insolent fool,” their grip tightened, fingernails pricking Hero’s skin.
They hurled Hero to the ground and their cheek collided hard with the concrete. Pain shot through the Hero. It was all so cold. Hero groaned as they pushed themself up. Not a moment later and a foot connected with their stomach, sending them into the back wall.
“You just never know when to stop, do you?” Supervillain chuckled, eyes alight. “This time I’ll make sure the message is clear.”
“No- please,” The words were choked as Hero clawed at their ground. Their muscles refused to move, stiff with the chill and reddened with bruises and the smear of blood. Supervillain stalked forward and seized Hero by the throat, pinning them against the wall.
Hero gasped as the air was forced from their lungs. It burned. Squeezing, squeezing, they could feel Supervillain’s hands crushing their windpipe and yet there was nothing they could do to stop it. Pins and needles lingered in their joints. They couldn’t move.
The corners of their vision began to grow dark. Hero’s eyelids were heavy and a new wave of panic shot through Hero. They were falling unconscious. Fingers flexing, reaching for any sort of movement. They couldn’t close their eyes- they wouldn’t wake up again.
“Not so strong now,” Supervillain cackled, squeezing tighter and grinning when a choked cry fell from Hero’s blue lips.
Hero fumbled through pleas but no sound came out. Flakes swirled around Supervillain’s head like a halo, though they were anything but. Their lips were spread wide into the cruelest of smiles, nails pinching into Hero’s skin. They had to stay awake- they had to hold on-
They had to…
Hero went limp and fell into the void of ice and darkness.
***
Words mumbled above their head as if suspended in a fog. Hushed at first, a silent plea. Hero’s head lulled to the side as their eyelids lazily peaked open.
“It’s alright-” Were they being spoken to? Their eyes searched the space, but they couldn’t see anything. “It’s okay, you’re safe.”
Hero was dizzy. Everything felt distant. They couldn’t remember. This voice, it swirled around their form, but it was undeniably kind, comforting even. Supervillain would never-
Supervillain. Panic shot down Hero’s spine. They leapt up from where they had been laid only to discover they were trapped. Eyes darting frantically around, they trashed in the covers that held them down. Get out, they had to get out-
A hand pressed against their chest and Hero fell back onto the covers. Blankets, they must be in a bed. Why would they be in bed?
“You mustn’t move too much, no need to start any new wounds.”
Hero looked up to find the Villain staring at them. Worry shone in the wrinkles by their eyes though they hid it behind a gentle smile. The hand that wasn’t resting on the blankets held a damp rag. Beside the Villain was a bowl of water, steam pooling gently above the surface.
Villain dunked the cloth in the water and wrung it out until droplets of water no longer fell into the bowl. They reached forward and began to peel away the layer of blankets that were wrapped around Hero’s form.
“No! Wait, please!” Hero shouted before they could stop themself. They pulled desperately at the covers, their warmth. They couldn’t feel the scrape of cold air against their skin again. Couldn’t live with another second of clouded breath and silent shivers.
Sorrow crossed Villain’s face and they laid a hand on the Hero’s own, warming it with the touch of their fingers. “I have to treat the damaged skin. I promise I won’t hurt you.” They studied Hero’s expression, waiting until the tension in their shoulders faded before taking Hero’s arms from beneath the covers.
For the first time Hero noted the pinkish-blue tint of their fingertips. They had been too stunned to care before, but now the tingling sensation made sense. Frostbite.
Hero couldn’t help but sigh as the rag was wrapped around their hands. It spread like fire, licking up their insides and settling in a pool of heat. The cuts that covered their skin no longer screamed with pain, and the coloring returned to their complexion.
They stayed like that for minutes, breathing softly under the embrace of heat. Villain then removed the cloth to dip it back in the bowl.
“How did you find me?” Hero asked as Villain tucked them back beneath the blankets.
“It was late, and I still had yet to see you,” Clear droplets fell into the silver bowl as Villain squeezed the rag tighter, “I found your jacket in an alleyway, and Supervillain isn’t so secretive about their ventures.”
Hero tensed at the thought of the Supervillain, but Villain caught their gaze. “Don’t worry, I won’t let them touch you again, ever.” Their expression darkened as they spoke, though was soon replaced by a reassuring smile.
This time they held Hero’s chin gently and brushed the towel across their nose. The stroke of Villain’s thumb across their cheek left searing trails and Hero longed never to lose the feeling of their touch.
Villains retrieved a small device from their pocket, a thermometer, and ran it gently across Hero’s forehead. After a small beep sounded, they observed the reading with a pleased expression.
“Your temperature has gone back up,” they said, “You’ll have some scabs, but they should heal in due time.”
Villain gathered the bowl and rag and set them at Hero’s bedside. The thermometer was tucked into their pocket, but as they moved to stand, Hero stopped them.
“Wait-” Hero grasped their arm, all the numbness had gone from their fingers and they now latched onto Villain like a lifeline. “Stay.”
Arms outstretched, desperate, Hero tightened their grip ever so slightly. They couldn’t be alone again. They wanted Villain’s comfort and the warmth that came with their touch. They wanted Villain at their side.
And the Villain listened. They settled back onto the bed and shifted close. When Hero remained with their arms outstretched, they understood and carefully wrapped their arms around the other. Hero melted into the embrace, burying their face into Villain’s shoulder. They hadn’t even realized they had started to cry…
Villains rubbed soothing circles on their back, carding through their tangled locks even when Hero’s tears soaked their sleeve. They were safe.
Hero hugged Villain tighter, latching onto them as if they were the only one left on earth, and in Hero’s world, they were. “Please don’t let go,” They mumbled into Villain’s sleeve, and ever so softly a hand rose to cup their cheek.
“I won’t Hero, I swear with everything that I never will again.”

Step Out of Line
Tw: whump, stabbing, blood, near death experience, dagger mention, Supervillain whumper, Hero whumpee, sadistic whumper (guys I swear it sounds bad but there is caretaking at the end)
@epiclamer I saw your plea in the gc for hero whumpee and villain caretaker. So I was inspired and wrote this, pls accept my offering
Tumblr media
Hero groaned as they crashed hard into the concrete. They practically tasted it with how close their head came to smashing into it. Their open cuts and wounds screamed as they hit the floor. The rough concrete scraped against them, each second laying there felt like daggers poking their skin.
Hero laid there dizzily, coughing for a few seconds. Was that blood that just came out of their mouth? Their vision started blurring together. They slowly looked up, two pairs of feet stood in front of them, who else joined the fight?
They blinked a couple times at the figures, struggling to keep their head up. After another few seconds of this, the two pairs of feet merged into one. No one else joined the fight, it was just their vision lying to them.
Hero shakily started to stand up, despite every part of their body just telling them to give up. They were a hero, they could not lay there in defeat. Supervillain stood in front of them and if they could just get one really good punch in, they might just be able to defeat them-
They felt their legs collapse out from under them, and Hero landed back on their stomach. The cool, rugged pavement greeted them once more. They could hear maniacal laughter echoing off the brick alleyway walls behind them.
Hero breathed heavily, they pushed off the ground, oh they could see the dark red blood now. They slowly turned over to lay on their back so they could actually see. More laughing filled their ears, Supervillain crouched down next to their fallen form.
Out of the corner of their eye, they could see something in the evil doer’s hand. Despite the darkness of the alley, Hero could see the almost blinding flash of metal. A dagger, their vision focused just enough to see the outline of a small blade.
Their heartbeat raced, it must have been out of fear. Was Supervillain going to finish the job right there? They didn’t want to die that way. Dying to the filthy hands of Supervillain like so many others before them. Just add them to the list of fallen heroes. Hero would be just like the others, nothing special.
Supervillain held an evil glint in their eye, grinning as they took pleasure in putting the blade directly in their face so Hero could see. “Given up yet Hero? It does not matter, you do not have a choice anyways. You will be dead in a minute.”
“N-no-“ Hero whimpered, oh so desperately trying to back away in their weakened state.
Supervillain only cackled more, grabbing their feet and dragging them back over, which only made Hero cry out in pain.
Without warning, they elicited a scream as Supervillain took their blade and stabbed Hero.
They couldn’t tell where, but the pain felt absolutely horrible. Another thing they knew is that they passed out soon after.
. . .
Hero stirred on something.. soft? Were they hallucinating the comfortable surface to escape the feeling of the wretched concrete?
They opened their eyes but they were impaled by light, which confused them, wasn’t it still night time?
Hero took a minute to adjust to the light, blinking rapidly until it felt like the light no longer hurt them. They looked around the room, this clearly was not the alley, their mind had not been playing tricks on them either.
They were laying on a worn in couch, a soft blanket had been pulled all the way up to their chin. They looked under the blanket and saw bandages wrapped around their stomach, arms, and a cast on their leg. They also noticed bandages around their hands too when lifting the blanket. None of them felt too tight either, whoever did it must have taken great care.
The living room the couch sat in appeared to be small, but it was neat and tidy. They wonder what civilian rescued them, at least they hoped a civilian saved them and they were not with Supervillain. That would be so very cruel, they would rather have died on the pavement than see their face after they had given Hero a false sense of safety.
While scanning their surroundings, their eyes drifted over to the doorway that led to the kitchen. Their eyes widened in shock. Standing there staring at them was not a civilian at all or Supervillain, it was Villain. And they were holding a bowl of chicken noodle soup?
Villain must of been bad news, they started to sit up and pull the blanket off them, but they stopped halfway through, hissing in pain.
Villain rushed over and set the soup on the coffee table in front of the couch. They immediately pushed Hero to lay back down on the couch. “What are you thinking?? If you opened any of your wounds because of this- I swear to gods-“ They groaned thinking about it, shaking their head.
Hero hesitated, they did not move or say anything. That only caused Villain to sigh as they gently helped them into sitting position. They grabbed the bowl of soup directly after, pulling a chair up to sit next to the couch Hero sat on.
Hero looked at the soup with unease. They could not deny that it smelled absolutely delicious and their stomach had definitely been growling, but what if Villain put something in it? “Is that poisoned?”
“What kind of question is that? Of course not,” Villain scoffed. “You are in my home, I plan on taking care of you.”
Hero still looked at the bowl in their nemesis’s hands, unsure. Which in turn only drew out a long sigh from the villain.
“Why would I poison you after taking the time to bandage you up, if you haven’t noticed them already. Let me tell you that it took forever.” Villain gestured to Hero’s hand for reference. “I’m a villain, but if you think I’m cruel enough to bandage you all up just to kill you- I’m offended,” they rolled their eyes dramatically.
“Now watch, Hero.” They took a spoonful of the soup that they made and ate it. They swallowed and gave them an “I told you so” sort of expression. Hero looked sheepish after, letting out a small “oh.”
Villain hummed and held up another spoonful of the chicken noodle soup. “Open your mouth.”
Hero gave them a confused look again, “Are you going to try to feed me?”
Villain still held the utensil in front of the crime-stopper. “Yes,” they said simply.
“But that is embarrassing-! Please just let me feed myself,” Hero complained. They weren’t injured so much so that they could not eat the soup themself.
“Not as embarrassing as trying to challenge someone as powerful as Supervillain. I found you left for dead in that alleyway, and goodness knows you could have died if I didn’t save you. Now open up.” This time Villain did not sound like they were joking. They were stern, but they also held a touch of worry in their voice.
Hero lowered their gaze to the blanket on their lap out of shame and embarrassment. Villain had immediately shut down their complaints just with that explanation alone.
“Why did you help me?” Hero asked quietly. “I’m a hero, I try to arrest you. This goes against what villains sort of well.. do.”
Villain let the spoon fall back into the bowl. They shook their head at Hero. “No, villains break rules and accepted norms dearest Hero, and saving you did just that. I did not step out of line if I was not following a line to begin with.”
Hero only stared at Villain. When they held the spoon up to them once again, this time they reluctantly opened their mouth and accepted the food. And consequently, Villain’s help.

Prompt fill for @epiclamer prompt fill game! “Okay I know it was literally JUST posted but what about a switcheroo, tall villain and short hero :]'
“Little one,” he hummed, “Come out of your hiding place.” His grin sharpened as he reduced a pine tree into splinters and broken branches. “I won’t bite.”
That was less than reassuring. The protagonist clutched the stolen plans closer to her chest, barely daring to breathe.
The antagonist had sneered when he found the empty case, smiled when the protagonist barrelled out of their hiding place through a window and laughed as she ran into the forest. Equal parts leisurely and methodical, the glint in his eyes riveled the one lining the axe.
“Leave the plans behind. Still time to escape.” the antagonist cut down another tree and the protagonist winced. She curled her body and crawled under a fallen tree, moving as quickly as she dared.
After weeks of preparation, three bribed guards and nine bypassed levels of security, leaving the plans was not an option. Her breath hitched when she saw the electric fence come into view. The buzz in the air meant the antagonist had gotten the power back on before she had predicted. Stomach on the ground, she wiggled into a rotting log. Gross, but effective.
“I know your face.”
She unrolled the plans and winced at another tree crashing through the underbrush. Her eyes flickered over the diagrams, committing as much as she could to memory.
“One of my more impressive talents is my ability to find people,” the antagonist said as casually as having a chat about the weather. “And those they care about.” Another tree fell, skewering the moss below. “Can you really protect everyone?”
No, but that’s a problem for later. She took one last look at the plans, counted to three and crawled out of the log and into plain sight. The sticks hurt her hands and the dust made her cough.
The antagonist grinned, eyes shining through the haze.
“Are these your plans?” She held up the plans in mock surrender. “I thought they were your diary. My bad.”
He twirled his axe. “Giving up that easily is a disappointing end.”
“What can I say?” Her shrug did nothing to hide her tremor. “You make very effective threats.”
“One of my many talents. Drop them on the ground.”
“I’d like to make a deal,” She swallowed dryly. “I give you the plans, you turn off the electric fence for the next ten minutes.”
He raised an eyebrow. “Counteroffer – I put my axe in your knee and take the plans before your first scream is finished.”
“Shame, I was on track to win the ‘Best Legs’ contest at work.” The protagonist slowly backed away.
The antagonist laughed at that, some mirth entering his grin. The tip of the axe rested against the ground. “Alright, have it your way. As soon as my property is back inside, I’ll turn the fence off for ten minutes.”
“…I have your word?” The antagonist was many things, but in their line of work, his word was as close to honourable as you could get.
The antagonist nodded.
Maybe the protagonist would regret this, but she tossed the plans to the antagonist. The antagonist reached up and casually placed the plans on an overarching tree branch – out of the protagonist's reach.
“Thank you for returning my work.” The antagonist’s expression shifted, eyes sharpening and smile hardening.
Welp. “This was nice.” She struggled to keep her voice steady as he matched her backward scramble step for step. “But my team is waiting for me, I really must be going-“
“It was foolish,” his hand slammed into a tree beside her, sending splinters and wood chips flying, “to memorize my property.”
The protagonist’s voice faltered. “We have a deal.”
“And as soon as you’re secured in a cell and the plans are in their case, I’ll cut power for ten minutes. I’m a man of my word.” He levelled the axe at the protagonist, and this close, the bloodstains were clearly visible. “Walk.”
The protagonist’s breath hitched as she turned back towards the imposing building.
“Don’t be upset.” The antagonist said from behind, axe twirling. “Desperation suits you.”
