here’s the thing.
if you’re one of the people celebrating our flag means death’s cancellation for whatever reason right now, i need you to realize that this is just a sign that whatever you love is next.
and i’m not saying that out of spite. having your favourite show cancelled is awful, i wouldn’t wish it on anyone. but if our little-gay-pirate-show-that-could can’t get its third and final season, the future of queer media is extremely grim.
ofmd was the definition of a sleeper hit. hbo max had no faith in it when the first season came out. it gained popularity purely through word-of-mouth. but it became one of max’s biggest shows, and it’s since been marketed as their flagship series.
it was the #1 most in-demand series in the world for 8 weeks (7 of those weeks consecutively). it’s currently in the 99.7th percentile of the comedy genre, meaning it’s in higher demand than 99.7% of all comedy series in the u.s. it has a 94% audience and critics score on rotten tomatoes. it’s the most in-demand hbo original series even above euphoria, succession, and the last of us.
it was nominated for 16 awards for the first season alone, including a GLAAD award and a peabody award. the second season was just nominated for an art directors guild award, which it was previously nominated for and won in the same category for season one.
besides awards, ofmd is critically-acclaimed and praised for its representation (including a cast of majority queer, bipoc, and disabled characters) and themes of anti-colonialism, challenging gender norms/toxic masculinity, and self-discovery/acceptance. it also has a diverse team of directors and writers consisting of several bipoc, women, and queer/trans/non-binary people.
on top of all of this, the plan for the show all along was only ever for three seasons. david jenkins only wanted three seasons for the full romcom structure to tell ed and stede’s story. that’s it. nothing more.
this isn’t an attempt to make you care about the show. but ofmd’s cancellation isn’t just a loss for the fanbase and the cast/crew. it’s a sign that it does not matter how successful or profitable shows highlighting lgbtq+ (or otherwise inclusive) narratives are or how many big names are involved. ofmd would not have been cancelled if it were a straight romcom. they would’ve magically found the budget. but corporate greed doesn’t care about us. they have no respect for queer people or queer media. and in the age of streaming, it’s only a matter of time until we lose all of it.

GOOD OMENS 2 SPOILERS
Something's so not right in S2 though.
The only time we "see" God is whenever she talks to Job and just blabbers stuff at him because she's bored af and doesn't have anybody to speak with except maybe the Metatron.
When Aziraphale tries to talk directly to God in S1, the Metatron tells him "Speaking to me is speaking to God" and categorically refuses to listen to Aziraphale's request.
That's weird. That's so weird.
We have no proof that he's actually relaying all this information to God. She hasn't appeared to anyone in centuries. He's also aware of Aziraphale's will to stop the arma-fucking-geddon.
He's aware of Azi's relation to Crowley.
As I've seen stated somewhere on Tumblr earlier, he's aware that just by trying to perform a teeny tiny miracle together they performed a huge ass one that triggered alarms in Heaven and succeeded in separating the two, because he's aware, and could be scared, of their combined powers.
Okay but why would he need to separate them?
A second too late, he told Aziraphale about The Second Coming, which is most likely linked to a new Armageddon again.
Related to that, we never heard God herself about the destruction of earth. Anything said about it is told by other characters. Note to myself: list up who talked about it.
The Metatron seems to be hiding something. Unlike the other (arch-)angels he's not naïve, he wears a black coat, he doesn't sugarcoat his speech to humans (and my synesthesia says he speaks Spiky, and not a good spiky).
I think it's also noteworthy that Crowley & Aziraphale don't communicate, not with words, Crowley never told Aziraphale about what Gabriel told him but he also never told Aziraphale what he found out about Gabriel in S2. He never told Aziraphale that his bosses were planning to restart Armageddon until Gabriel went Nah, that it's the reason the Metatron demoted him. He demoted the current Prince of Heaven for stopping it, then promoted Aziraphale, who is a lot more tame and also has been a cause of Armagenope to fail, to lead it.
I don't think Crowley fell because he asked questions to God. I think he sauntered vaguely downwards because he asked too many questions to the Metatron, that would put his plan in danger.
This bitch is SHADY AS FUCK and I'm honestly so eager, so curious to see what he (and season 3) is going to bring us. I wonder if he's lived among the humans, too. Besides, I feel like he's going to try (and maybe manage) and use Azi as his marionnette for whatever stuff he's preparing.
And I feel whatever he's preparing is really against God.
Thank you Neil Gaiman for this ending because even if it HURTS it's so interesting. There are so many things that could be going on behind the heartbreak. I could be going on about how Crowley probably even found out part of what happened. I've seen people speculate with good arguments that Crowley lost part of his memory after falling, and if it is the case that could be another thing done to prevent Crowley from stopping the Metatron.
There is SO MUCH that could be, so much that WILL be, and so little that we can know.
No matter in what form, I'm so excited to see how this will develop in the future.

Leo’s admin, Haru is actually so iconic. Like her and Foolish just go together so well. They chaos she brought with the walters like how foolish would with the capys. Tell me he’s not proud!!
Then to have the Walters named after League of Legends and Valorant characters too because they both play those games!! Just an icon tbh

The true context of the “I’m not THEM” quote from the Season 3 trailer
Omega, Crosshair, and Tech have all escaped and they’re at the store waiting for Hunter and the rest to pick them up. Tech is off trying to find some new glasses.
Omega: Can we get this Mantell Mix? Please?
Crosshair: No.
Omega: The others would have gotten me Mantell Mix
Crosshair: WELL I’M NOT THEM
And then Hunter and the gang come and get them and they’re a family again and we don’t have to see them get hurt anymore.

I don't know if it's because it's been too long since I last watched Stranger Things, but I genuinely don't remember a happy Nancy scene post Barb...
This is such an interesting thing to think about because it's not as if Nancy looks miserable in most scenes of the show. In fact, she often looks determined and occasionally excited even. She has smiled before, but excitement about progress in a case, something she's passionate about because of Barb, isn't necessarily happiness. So this is something you have to look beyond face value for.
Nancy suffers quite plainly with survivors guilt and with a lot of trauma. She isn't healed from what happened in Season One, and I don't think she even let herself really start until after season three. Not with so much unresolved. She also hasn't had the help she really needs either. However, Nancy has experienced happiness since Barb's death. There are moments she forgets. It’s only healthy that she's not so obessively mired in her misery that she can't have moments to breathe.
It's been a while since I've watched the show, too, so I can't say if there's a Jancy scene where she's just happy. Their get-together scene was very in the middle of Barb trauma, the wake up together scene is very stressed and rushed. Jonathan has been good to her, but all their scenes are a very mixed bag of emotions with happiness not really being the predominant one.
There are three small scenes from season four that come to mind. The first is Lucas's game. Nancy is quite genuinely proud and happy for Lucas in that moment of success. It's such a small shot, but it's one of a few scenes that show us that Nancy cares a whole lot more about Mike’s friends than she ever says.
The second is the scene with the dog, right before the plot plummets Nancy right back into her guilt complex. She's starting to live, and she lets herself be, for just a second, when she steps away from a murder investigation to just play with a dog. This is the first real evidence that her passion for her work is not just about Barb anymore.
The last scene is the officially friends scene with Robin. It's simply a moment of establishing connection, and both girls are just so warm in that moment. It's another sign of Nancy starting to actually heal. She's happy to have a new girl friend, not scared or guilty like she would have been before.

I might be into Wincest these days but first and foremost I am a supernatural fan. I loved the show before shipping ever became part of my life and I just don't understand people who skip the first 4 seasons to get to Cas. (Plus I know wincest is fanon not Canon unlike others...) I'm not trying to say anything bad about Cas, I actually love him, or destiel but to skip the first three seasons is crazy and you aren't a real fan of the show in my opinion. Without the setup from the first 3 seasons you aren't anywhere near as invested in the whole story. You don't understand what brought them to this point, and you miss the delicious details. If destieland Cas are as big as those fans say, then it can wait. Heck I would think Castiels arrival has a lot more significance when you are already invested. But basically these people that actually tell newbies to skip ahead are saying no other characters, including Sam and Dean, are important enough to watch from the beginning. And as a fan of the actual show that is really... upsetting. I find it worse than telling people to stop after season 5 which is also difficult for me because while yes overall its not as tight as 1-5 and has some definite low points, there is also SO much great stuff and awesome new characters after 5. Anyway that my rant that isn't even worth 2 cents but needed to get that out. Shipping is fun but my obsession with the show starts with the actual show.

i can't wait to see Penelope being in love on main w/ Colin at any and every given moment in S3
-coming to him with her concerns to hear his opinions. listening to him when he comes to her. all the razor sharp, witty banter they share
-encouraging and hyping up his writing and his interests. asking to read more of his work. just going full gush fest
-standing up for her bb boi when someone tries to make a rude comment about him (yes, including his family)
-all the squee scenes when he's being a total babe (he's a babe all the time, perpetual levels of squee)
-recognizing that her fantasy of Colin is nothing on the reality of him and telling him as much. she loves his imperfect self so much
-reaching for him whenever she wants so she can hold his hand or rub his back or go in for a snuggly hug
-telling him she's happiest when she's with him and that she likes him as a person (the 'i like you' 'i like you, too' convo is too near and dear to my heart)
-aaaaaaall the love language validations. extra touchy all the time. finding (and making up) excuses to spend more time with him. offering to edit his journals. remembering his favorite foods. telling him what she loves about him. bringing him snippets of her writing for him to read.
-i just need to see Pen love up on Colin, he deserves it

I just know that when season 2 ends I'm gonna still be expecting it to be coming out every Thursday morning for at least 2-3 weeks. I'll be waking up like "I have something to look forward to today don't I?" and then I'll realise that it's OFMD, which isn't coming out anymore, and I'll be like "oh yea nvm". I like this show a normal amount.
