Congrats on 2.7k followers!! You deserve it! :D For the event, may I request Malleus, Azul, Jade and Floyd with a gentle giant S/O? As you can already guess, S/O is super tall (you can change this detail if you’d like, but perhaps they’d even be noticeably taller than Malleus?) and maybe even kind of intimidating because of it, but they’re very friendly, quiet, and gentle.
Again, congratulations on your achievements!! Keep up the great work you’re doing 🥳

↳ Tall Gentle Giant/Reader
feat: Malleus ❋ Azul ❋ Jade ❋ Floyd genre: fluff note: no pronouns were used with the reader, I love beluga whales (it’ll make sense in Jade’s ver.),
Sooo…being someone that can’t relate to being tall :I, I went around to ask some of my taller friends to know what’s that like, so this took longer cuz of research. I also got into Genshin to prep for another prompt someone asked me and dang, do I gotta research on that too.
Similar prompt: Tall!reader who loves hugs

You were certainly a surprise to him. In his long years, rarely does he find people where he doesn’t have to tilt his head down for once.
Despite your height, you were as cute and friendly as a woodland creature, a contrast to Malleus who exudes regal power without much effort. He’s fascinated by you as your stature can command the room yet your energy has a rather soothing effect on him and those around you.
Man is saying you have zero scary dog energy, and that is adorable to him.
If you’re the affectionate type, congratulations! You’d be one of the few to be able (and allowed) to reach his horns. What started as curiosity soon became a habit as you made it your love language to care and clean Malleus’ iconic features. As a bonus, everytime you are done it’s fun to lay your head gently upon Malleus’, between his horns which catches him off guard no matter how often it happens.
Having a tall man with money certainly has privileges as you now have access to his personal tailor as well. Was there a pair of pants you really like but it only reached your ankles? Not anymore, let the royal tailor deal with that and add some matching accessories to that.
However you feel about your height, you are a sublime creature of beauty to Malleus. When he looks up to you smiling at him with the shining moon behind you highlighting your tall outline, he hasn’t seen anyone more otherworldly than you.
You stand out amongst every human I have encountered. Hm? Ah, I do not refer to your stature but rather… the way you effortlessly capture my attention and ensnare my thoughts with visions of you.
Tumblr media
Azul being around an incredibly tall person? What else is new? Azul doesn’t feel all that insecure about his height, before or after meeting you.
Well, you’re definitely the most pleasant person he knows that towers over him, at least. He knows that many, him included, would use your sort of stature as an advantage over others. Instead, he likes your rather sweet nature and way of conduct.
If you have stretch marks due to your rapid growth spurts, Azul would feel absolutely touched if you trusted him enough to show it. Azul would genuinely praise your resilience to may have been an aching and painful experience to go through. If you let him, he could create a potion to get rid of the marks if it truly makes you insecure, but he finds you beautiful no matter what.
Watch him flinch and get flustered anytime you wrap your arms around him, smothering him with your taller form. You would laugh to see him so easily out of sorts if you press your weight onto him. He can handle it of course, but the heat of your all-encompassing hugs is vastly different from his time in the cold sea.
Azul would provide certain things that would suit your needs that others may overlook. Suddenly, you would find blankets that can cover you entirely, or you were gifted a coat that is actually a long coat that doesn’t awkwardly cut off at a weird length on you. Mirrors in Azul’s private room are always suspiciously up to your eye-level whenever you visit.
He’s happy to know that you see him as someone reliable regardless of that. He has an interesting way of showing his appreciation
Do you like the new decor of the Mostro Lounge? The new additions are quite beautiful and eye-catching. The tall but dazzling designs were inspired by you, after all.
Tumblr media
Oh my. What a sight to behold, you are.
Jade doesn’t seem like the type to brag about his advantageous height, but he is aware that not many can reach his stature and even fewer actually pass him in that regard.
He still treats you as courteously as he always does, even more so as the two of you start to grow closer.
A nice bonus about having a tall boyfriend is that most of the things in his room are perfect for you! Beds you can fully stretch out in, actual full-length mirrors that don’t make you bend down, and furniture that doesn’t require you to squish yourself into. Jade’s (and Floyd’s) has become one of your favorite places to visit.
He does find it amusing that some people may find you intimidating because of your height as he knows that you were far from any definition of that word. Jade would chuckle to himself whenever he sees you getting happy or excited, like watching a playful beluga whale squeaking in joy. Your gentle features and bright smile shines through any misconceptions of your intimidating form.
Though not quite used to it, Jade doesn’t mind having to crane his neck to meet your gaze. Especially not when he could watch your adorable quizzical expression as he asked you to lower your head to him, only to whisper teasing words into your ear. He especially finds it fun to watch you jump to your full height in flustered surprise, even occasionally bumping your head on a hanging decoration.
Really, how could he resist you?
Do you need rest, my love? Perhaps a cup of tea can soothe your aches and joints while you sit.
Tumblr media
Oh, Floyd would have no issues with you being taller than him. Probably the opposite, really.
Don’t @ me but I fully believe Floyd has a thing for legs, be it his own or others. He’s so fascinated by these human features that you may even catch him blatantly staring appreciatively at your legs.
“What’s the big deal? They’re right there, who can blame me?”
He will however, with full confidence, laugh his lungs out if you hit your head on the door frame or trip on an ottoman seat you didn’t notice. Maybe he’ll rub the ouchie away but he’ll be laughing while he does.
Be prepared for impromptu fashion shows with custom made shoes to show off your gorgeous mile-long legs. Floyd could spend hours looking through online shopping with you, showing you websites that specifically cater to tall drinks of water like yourself.
This man will be floored by the experience of being the little spoon of a hug. To be able to lean into your arms and rest his head on your chest, listening to your heartbeat while you  lovingly pat his hair? You can be unknowingly smothering him and he’ll be loving every moment of it.
Regardless if you’re confident or not, Floyd loves to take you dancing. If you’re not confident in your dancing, Floyd is more than happy to lead you with every beat until you have fun. The man just loves to see the flashing lights paint your body, with your smile being the brightest of them all.
Did you get taller, Shrimpy? Aha ha, just pulling your leg there! Though, wouldn’t make a difference to me. You’re still a hottie even if you, hehe!

2.11 Playthings 👭👬
-episode of my life. If you only ever watch one episode of supernatural let it be this one. Creepy dolls creepy dollhouse creepy little girls a lonely Connecticut inn a desperate drunken tousle between the incest brothers. It doesn’t get any better than this.
-Dean gives Sam a hard time about suggesting a case after they’ve been looking for Ava for a month. Dean doesn’t even know Ava, but he’s spent the last month looking for her because it was important to Sam. When Sam doesn’t respond to Dean’s teasing, he backs right off. Dean is controlling and possessive but he is also respectful and considerate because he thinks the world of Sam.
-Dean says Sam’s attitude “is just way too healthy for me, I’m officially uncomfortable now” which is funny because it’s not true that Sam’s attitude is healthy and he will get drunk and misbehave about it, but it checks out that Dean is uncomfortable with healthy dynamics.
-Sam smirks at Dean’s joke in this really cute way. It shows that he still looks up to Dean, even though he wouldn’t admit it.
Tumblr media
-the innkeeper mistakes them for a gay couple and assumes they’ll want a king sized bed and Sam says “what? No—no two singles. We’re just brothers.”
Tumblr media
Spot the difference between these two pictures
Tumblr media
That mighty flustered, genuinely panicky “just brothers” sounds exactly like a “we’re just friends” moment between a will they/won’t they couple and it’s so weird that he says it that way. A normal answer would be “oh this is my brother” and then everybody moves on. But this is a tv show and there’s a reason for this scene to be included in this episode. It highlights that the nature of their relationship as brothers is more layered, and this messy denial tells the viewer that there is a romantic/sexual layer.
Back in Asylum in s1, Dean was mistaken for Sam’s boss specifically to make it clear to the viewer that Dean had more authority in their dynamic at the time, which played into Sam’s anger at Dean. This is a similar way for an outsider’s interpretation of the relationship to shed light on it. Their individual reactions to the assumption that they’re a romantic couple are meaningfully different—Sam is embarrassed and nervous like he’s been caught. Dean is feeling some kind of way.
Tumblr media
He looks guilty, like he’s doing something wrong. He played along with people thinking he and Sam were a couple in Bugs and went as far as to slap Sam’s ass and call him honey. He seems pretty comfortable with his sexuality and with people being gay in general, like the joke he made about the only real thing about him being his boobs or the time he sarcastically told a scowling male store owner that his smile really lights up a room. He’s playful, he’s not weird about it (until season 8 but that’s another post). So something else is going on here.
His attitude toward this kind of mistake has changed since season 1. A lot has happened, but I think the point at which things shifted for Dean was that moment in Croatoan when he decided that he was going to stay with and protect Sam when they thought he was infected. The episode was a major turning point for Dean. That’s what pushed him to finally tell Sam what John said, and it was the first time Dean really thought Sam was going to die. It also paralleled the scene from Provenance in which Sam almost puts his feelings for Dean into words. Back then, Dean was able to take control of the situation to avoid Sam’s feelings and his own. In Croatoan, he’s the one forced to consider his feelings and why he would live and die and kill for Sam, and Sam alone. It’s no longer possible for him to ignore the feelings between them. He knows or suspects strongly that Sam has feelings for him, and now he can’t deny that he does too. It’s one of his major conflicts moving forward.
-Dean asks Sam why people always assume they’re gay, saying it’s a “troubling question,” and Sam says “you are kind of butch. They probably think you’re overcompensating” which Dean takes in as though it’s an equally troubling revelation. They look like a couple, and therefore they look queer, from the outside: Sam with his shy demeanor, soft voice, longish hair, deference to Dean in most situations (Dean goes to the front desk, Sam hangs back a little, his body mostly facing Dean), and just general feminine-coding throughout the show. Dean with his cropped hair, gravelly voice, overconfidence, and constant womanizing.
Queer people have this shared experience of never feeling like they’re doing masculinity or femininity correctly, and knowing or realizing that other people can tell they don’t fit in, but not really being able to name what they’re doing wrong. Sam is too feminine and Dean is too masculine and when they’re together they read as a gay couple.
Croatoan drew attention to this too, but again, it’s not really about coding them as lgbt, it’s about coding them as queer and incestuous in a gothic, monstrous way. They are Other and it’s in their blood just like the monsters they hunt.
-Dean has Sam pretend to love dolls, to further underscore his feminine role in their relationship for the viewer. It would be so cute if Sam really did love dolls as a kid.
-Dean tells Sam not to look at porn in their room, apropos of nothing.
-someone else dies. Shot of Sam, damsel, gazing out the window of his tower as the body is carried out and Dean talks to the innkeeper.
Dean goes into their room, where Sam is sitting facing away from the open door in a way that feels foreboding, like something is wrong. It’s similar to the shot of Rose a little later in the episode, with her in her chair facing away from the door.
Sam is drunk because he couldn’t save the guy who died, and “the more people I save the more I can change.” He’s afraid of becoming corrupted and at least some part of him believes that he will (that he already is) and needs to make up for it.
Sam says Dean has to watch out for him “and if I ever turn into something that I’m not you have to kill me.” He argues that John said Dean has to and Dean says “Yeah well dad’s an ass” which is a very bold thing for Dean to say about the dead father he once idolized. He obeyed John to keep Sam safe, and he’s finally letting himself be angry with John.
Sam says even now everyone around him dies. He says “please, Dean, you’re the only one who can do it. Promise.”
So Sam is drunk and in crisis over believing that he will become evil, in this episode that makes sure to emphasize the sexual undertones in his relationship with his brother, in an interaction that looks charged and erotic. He’s begging his brother to kill him rather than let him fall, holding onto Dean’s shirt and pulling him down toward him, his eyes locked on Dean’s.
Dean says “Don’t ask that of me” but Sam gives him the puppiest tear-filled eyes so Dean lies, he says “I promise.” At this point Sam is sitting on his bed and Dean is leaning over him, Sam grasping his shirt to keep him close and keep his attention.
Sam looks at Dean’s lips, says “thank you,” inhales, and grabs Dean’s face in both his hands, his thumb near the corner of Dean’s lip. It looks like he’s trying to kiss Dean. The fact that he inhaled rather than exhaled also just makes it feel more like a lead-up to something rather than a conclusion.
Tumblr media
Dean pushes Sam away, closing his eyes as if conflicted, Sam still holding onto his face. It’s a little aggressive. Dean has to shove Sam off of him forcefully.
Tumblr media
Dean pushes Sam onto his back on the bed, where he watches him turn to his stomach and nestle into the mattress, arching his lower back with his face in the pillow. Dean puts a hand over his mouth and traces his lips, his eyes dragging over Sam’s body.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Just describing the basic mechanics of this scene makes its eroticism clear. Dean touches his lips after Sam looks at them in a gesture loaded with restraint and tension. It’s another of those scenes that usually happen between romantic leads: the woman gets drunk and confesses something and/or needs to be taken care of and the man treats her respectfully but not so respectfully that he isn’t a little seduced. Dean could have let Sam kiss him (or do whatever he was going to do), but he has so many reasons not to: fear of hurting him, of Sam leaving him, of betraying his role as his savior and protector. Dean’s self worth comes from loving Sam, so if he loves Sam Wrong he feels worthless.
And that’s to say nothing of the fact that Sam is begging Dean to take ultimate control over his body by deciding whether he lives, and deciding whether he’s good or bad. His fears are soothed by the idea that whatever happens he can be Dean’s, he can belong to his brother. He’s okay with dying only if it’s by Dean’s hand. His whole life he’s felt something was wrong with him, so if it’s true and Dean confirms it, he is the only one who can kill it. The corruption in Sam (in both of them) has already been heavily linked to blood and their relationship and now Sam is verbalizing it—No! We’re just brothers. Why does everyone assume we’re gay? Sam holding Dean’s face, drunk, saying there is something wrong with me and it’s your responsibility. Please, you’re the only one who can do it.
-Sam is throwing up the next morning. Dean says something gross about a sandwich in an ashtray that makes Sam gag and say “I hate you” and Dean says “I know you do.” The way Dean says this sounds like he really thinks Sam hates him, which came up in Asylum as well. After last night, this has to have something to do with Sam’s feelings for him and the fact that Sam thinks Dean is the only one who should kill him. He thinks it’s tied to Sam hating him and his self-hatred for loving Sam wrong.
-Maggie tells Tyler “I can’t leave this haunted house and you can’t leave me.” Sam and Dean can’t leave the haunted house that is their life because they can’t leave each other.
-Maggie tells Rose “you’d do that for me?” which Sam has basically said to Dean, and “you kept me away for so long I thought you didn’t love me any more” which fits both of them at different times. Rose is the little sister choosing to die so that Maggie doesn’t have to spend eternity alone, and saving Tyler. It’s a creepy, haunting ending that parallels Sam and Dean. The sisters play together forever in a haunted house and the brothers drive off to hunt together out of the haunted houses and motels and backroads they were raised in.

helllooooo! hcs on a shy and crushing fox on his beautiful and naive coworker? hopefully in the end she realizes how cute and adorable fox has been pining for her!
ty so much for sending this through!!!
i got this request as well and thought i'd merge the two together kinda 'mulder being all so silly cute and goofy when he’s around the reader because he’s so head over heels for her and scully just has to be matchmaker because she can’t stand mulder messing up all the time and not doing anything to ask the reader out!
i didnt mean for this to be so long i am sorry
ok SO, everyone knows Fox Mulder. His reputation proceeds him and ur colleagues have warned u about him, you have no idea how you haven't met each other yet but when u finally do you're in shock because ?? this is the FBI's most unwanted??? u don't actually know what u expected but it definitely wasn't this broad man with equal parts confidence and dorkiness
so u meet him at the vending machine, ur trying to get a snack and the machine has swallowed ur dollar so you're hitting it like not hard enough to damage it but enough to hopefully dislodge the snack so you can have it and he sees you and comes over like "damaging government property??you're my kind of girl" with this DUMB smile on his face and you're kind of flustered
he tells u theres a certain knack to getting a snack out so he hits the machine at a weird angle and it falls, he looks smug af but all that confidence seems to vanish as soon as you call him ur hero and insist on buying him a coffee to thank him. he's stuttering over his words and tells u he can't right now but if you're around this time tomorrow he'll buy you one
so it starts as a weekly thing and then progresses to a daily thing and it quickly becomes the highlight of both of your days. he's genuinely interested in u and asks questions about your life outside of work. you tell him about your childhood pets, your family, friend issues and basically anything that is non work related that springs to mind. the conversation flows easy and he seems to remember certain things. so when you're complaining about your friend cancelling on you again he's like "didn't she do that last week???!"
he tells u a bit about him and what he does out of work but he just wants to know more about you and u feel comfortable telling him
OK SO maybe one day you're sitting together with lunch and you compliment him on his tie or something, like u tell him it's ur favourite one you've seen him wear
EVER SINCE THAT DAY, he will find something to compliment you on. he's super conscious of coming across like overbearing or needy so he mixes it up. he'll ask u if u got ur nails professionally done because they look so good. he'll say that ur eyeshadow brings out the colour in ur eyes. he'll compliment your bright scrunchie and say that the colour yellow reminds him of u. yellow makes him smile and brightens his day JUST LIKE U
at this point, fox is like ???? HOW ARE YOU NOT REALISING THAT I AM IN TO YOU. he toes the line between thinking that you're completely oblivious to his crush or maybe ur just waaaay too polite and you're waiting for the opportunity to let him down gently
so Mulder has been super busy with a case and u feel bad taking him away from his desk when he's at base so u take a coffee down for him and Scully (who you've met a few times) and he can't thank u enough, he's apologising for not being able to make it over the past few days and u completely understand of course. but Scully is like what on EARTH is going on. who's taken her sarcastic friend and replaced him with this nervous nerris?????
she has never seen Fox Mulder like this, he's being bashful and she can't help noticing the pink tinge to his cheeks every time u compliment him. u dont stay for long but when u go, Fox doesn't make eye contact with Scully and she just sits there smirking like she can feel the HEAT radiating off Fox's red cheeks
Scully knows her partner like the back of her hand and she knows that he likes you and she can't handle the fact that both of you are too naive to notice how the other person feels
She's thinking about this when she bumps into u in the bathroom and the conversation naturally turns to Fox and u make a comment like "well u know what he's like" and Scully is like ACTUALLY no not really bc he's different around u in a way she has not seen. she tells u that she sees the way Fox looks at u and she thinks if u feel the same, u should just go for it bc he is into you
and you feel so much relief like oh my GOD he likes me back, like u said the stupid thing about his tie and u thought he'd been flirting back but u had no idea really
you have no idea if Scully has spoke to him about what she said but the next time u see him you're like "i have to ask you something" and he goes bright RED like yeah same actually...so he goes first and just asks you out and you laugh bc u were about to ask him the exact same thing
pls send me more Fox Mulder headcanons/prompts!!! also feel free to send some Pedro Pascal ones

The Rookie: 5x20
Okay, I don’t even know where to begin, because the ending has me crying, like genuinely my heart hurts. That fake smile that Tim gave?! I can’t cope.
I did really enjoy the episode though, so let’s go through the highlights
Domestic chenford obviously
Pancakes in the morning (cuties)
Also THEY HAD SHOWER SEX
I’ll just remind you THEY HAD SHOWER SEX
And it took him not even half the day to reminisce about it. Man is in a chokehold 🤣
Tamara was hilarious 🤣her disgusted reactions were giving ‘annoying little sister’ vibes but she has a super strong relationship with her sister and her sister boyfriend adores her and sees her as his own sister ❤️
I say this all the time, but I’m saying it again because it will never not be true. I fucking love Nyla Harper. Like for real, I would do anything for that woman. I love her, she’s a queen, she’s a goddess, she’s a badass- im obsessed.
Also, the whole Nyla and Lucy talk was very cute so imma need more of that please
Lucy’s little ‘playful punch’ made a comeback 🥰
Randy’s ‘oops I did it again’ had me in stitches 🤣
Angela- I love you ❤️ her constant bathroom breaks and death glares at Aaron when he questioned her snacking habits ? Perfection 🤣
Also whilst we’re on that- Aaron and Angela- another great duo. I’m loving these mix ups lately.
Glad to see Isabel well and happy now, proud of her for getting through all of that.
However, I sensed some flirting when she was around Tim that I wasn’t overly pleased about, but it could just be because I’ve made myself Lucy Chen’s personal protector so ?
Quick interlude. I just noticed in a gif that Tamara PHYSICALLY pushed Tim and Lucy apart when they kissed and I am cackling. 🤣
The END SCENE !!!!! I’m NOT okay !!!! Tim, TELL HER
Also, is it just me that’s just like a teeny tiny bit mad at Lucy ? It’s such a weird feeling to feel mad at her, but she told Tim she was worried about him, and yet when he said ‘I’ll be fine’ I KNOW she knew he wasn’t !!!! SAY SOMETHING
The fake smile he gave ?! She wasn’t even looking at him so he smiled for HIMSELF !!! To reassure HIMSELF ! I’m emotional again.
Also, I really don’t understand why that talk with Isabel didn’t falter Lucy more. She came home and said ‘I love undercover work’ with a massive smile which I wasn’t expecting at all. I thought that talk would’ve really made her analyse things. Idk, the UC path for her is just not for me. She’s amazing at it, but she’s amazing at everything, but something about UC just isn’t her.
The way he said ‘come here’ and then she leaned into him with her legs over his though 🥺😭
Anyway, can’t wait for next episode !!!! Please sort this UC stuff out. PLEASE.

2022 has been an excellent year for video games, by which I mostly mean the weird indie stuff I like (the only major release I played was Elden Ring, actually.) I figure I'll put up a highlights reel of smaller things I liked that came out this year:
- Iron Lung: great little spooky game by the Dusk guy. I really like games like this, little 1 or 2 hour experiences that focus on doing one thing really well. Also a great example of how budget development can be turned in the game's favor--the gameplay revolving around taking grainy photos hides the game world's relative barrenness, and the choice to use an FPS engine for a game where you pilot a submarine does a lot to make the game feel more claustrophobic than something with a dedicated interface would.
- Card Shark: a narrative adventure game telling a picaresque story of 18th century France. It's a little uneven, but it's basically Barry Lyndon's Warioware--I had a lot of fun with it. Has a really gorgeous artstyle as well as a great soundtrack.
- Trombone Champ: I know this was the streamer game du jour back in September, but it's genuinely pretty fun and has some really great jokes, as well as doing a hell of a lot with a largely public domain soundtrack. I think it's a lot more innovative than it seems--it's a rhythm game where you actually play the music note by note, instead of hitting buttons for canned soundbytes.
- The Case of the Golden Idol: a Return of the Obra Dinn-esque mystery game (I think a lot of people, myself included, heard about it when Lucas Pope signal boosted it.) Has a pretty novel method of deduction making and a really ingenious final twist. The plot is more outlandish than I'd expected but it executes some pretty interesting ideas. Also, it has an enjoyably weird artstyle--sort of a grotesque Monkey Island kind of thing.
- Frog Detective 3: I played the whole trilogy in 2 days. Very cute and has some good jokes in it.
- Pentiment: Easily game of the year for me, I beat it day 1 and then posted about it for a week straight. An ingeniously constructed visual novel* about the grand tapestry of history and the rippling effect of our choices throughout our lives and those of others. I don't want to drag this out because I've described my thoughts on it elsewhere and I'd need a whole book on its own to get all of them down, but suffice to say it's an incredible game.
Also an honorable mention to Gloomwood, a promising immersive sim that went into early access in October, and an honorable mention to Dwarf Fortress for its Steam release, which despite a couple minor hiccups has gotten me playing that game more than I have in half a decade.
I haven't finished FAITH 3 or played Norco, but those are also on my list for this year, so I'll reblog with an addendum if I get around to either before January.
*"visual novel" used loosely here. it's somewhere between Night in the Woods and Disco Elysium, but visual novel feels like the most appropriate term due to the amount of reading involved.

Best Jupidad Moments #4 Nevermoor Ch 7 - Settling into Reality
I’m going to start this ramble with a little flashback to Ch 2
She had imagined, a hundred times over, how it would feel to be liked instead of feared. To see people smile instead of flinch when she walked into a room. It was one of her favourite daydreams. But that was all it was, Morrigan told herself, shaking the cobwebs out of her head. A daydream.
And now… chapter 7…
Jupiter stood behind a wooden desk, leaning over a mess of papers and maps. He looked up, smiling broadly. ‘Ah! There you are. Excellent. ‘I thought I might give you a little tour. Sleep well?’ ‘Yes, thanks,’ said Morrigan. She suddenly felt shy. It was all this smiling at her that Jupiter kept doing, she thought. It wasn’t natural.
Must be weird to wake up for the first time in a world where your favourite daydream has come true!
So now it’s going to get real - how does life work for these two from now on?
Obviously it’s not going to be plain sailing, that would be dull and would get so saccharine we’d get a headache. Even with his superior ability to see how people are feeling, Jupiter can’t get it right all the time as it wouldn’t feel genuine for the reader (and the best heroes are fallible and human). For this relationship to be believable, our Jupidad is going have to make some wrong calls. Buckle up…
‘Definitely not,’ Morrigan said, bristling. ‘I don’t want a nickname.’ ‘Course you do, everyone wants—’ … … ‘Everyone wants a nickname,’ Jupiter continued after the announcement.
‘Mog is a great nickname!’ Jupiter insisted. He rolled the word around in his mouth as they walked down the long hallway. ‘Mog. Moggers. The Mogster. It’s so versatile.’ Morrigan made a face.
‘It sounds like something an animal vomits up and leaves on your doorstep. Are you going to tell me about the Wundrous Society now?’
‘Soon, Mog, but—’
‘Morrigan.’
‘—first, the grand tour.’
At best he’s going from supportive-dad-mode to annoying-dad-mode here… having read Hollowpox and knowing that she eventually embraces “Mog” it’s hard to feel *too* cross with him in retrospect but I found this section a little uncomfortable and somewhat surprising after how focused he was on allowing her to have her own agency in the previous chapters. It’s not like it’s an unimportant thing either… the name people use for you is kind of a big deal and she’s pointed out that it doesn’t feel like a flattering one…
I wonder, perhaps, if the nickname thing is because he wants to draw another line between himself and Corvus who always used her full first name and would never have used something as affectionate as a pet name for his only daughter. Safe to say Morrigan’s probably been called a lot of names but never a cute silly one before.
It also makes me wonder whether Jack was a Jove-bestowed nickname and if so, what John Arjuna thought of it at the time.
On the definite plus side he never introduces her as Mog, nor does he try to persuade anyone else to call her this.
‘You were going to tell me about the Wundrous Society …’ ‘I know, and I will, but it’ll have to wait. Martha—’ He waved the young maid closer. ‘Could you give Morrigan a little tour? Just the highlights.’
And here’s where Morrigan begins to be introduced to the fact that our Jupidad is going to be a frequently absent parental figure. He’s got so many calls on his time.
Thus he is missing (yet much spoken of) for the rest of the chapter. However I’m going to slip in one little foreshadowing theory about the chandelier just in case I run out of steam before I get to chapter 26…
Martha held both hands to her cheeks. ‘Oh … Captain North will be so upset. That ship’s been there for ever, it’s his favourite thing. How could this happen?
The precious chandelier was a pink sailing ship. As we find out later, it grows back as a black bird with outstretched wings, which some view as a comforting protective creature and others as threatening.
Jupiter said he loved it even more than the pink sailing ship.
Jupiter took on the hotel when it was a wreck. I reckon at that point the chandelier was fairly normal but became a sailing ship to represent the chief passion of its explorer proprietor - adventure, travel, discovering new realms. The day his Mog arrives, that loses its top spot in a dramatic style and is eventually replaced with a very clear symbol of his new #1 priority - the little girl he saved who will eventually become the one to protect him and everyone he loves in return.

Thoughts(TM) on Mass Effect, in no particular order or preference.
- What did they do to Ashley??? Why did she go from kick-ass takes-no-shit-soldier to... kick-ass-takes-no-shit-soldier with eyeshadow and lipstick and a fringe and hair to her shoulders which probably somehow breaks regulations?? That shit would be getting in her eyes when she was trying to shoot, if it wasn't getting ripped out by a rabid husk first... just no.
- While we are talking about this - WHY did they make us suffer the dress(tm) every time woman Shepherd had to dress 'fancy'? First, that is the ugliest effing dress I've ever seen in my life, not to mention out of character for my (and I'm sure a lot of others) Shepherd, who would have been in a suit at the most, or something nicer than that (no, literally, anything would have been better).
+ Garrus... where to even start? Possibly the best developed character in the whole damn game. I adore Garrus. Would kill for him die for him etc. The friendship between him and Shepherd was so lovely and a really nice highlight of all the games. Except for when Shepherd tries to set him up at the bar. Bit weird.
+ Liara... love of my life, light of my life etc etc. Second only to Garrus and only because the romance scene I had ('will you be my girlfriend' in the presidium commons, not sure if there are any others) was so dry and stale compared to the rest of their cutscenes I hated it. But the chemistry between these two across all three games was amazing, and made their relationship (should you choose to accept it) all the more realistic and believable.
- The endings of ME3. Need I say more. -100/10.
+ The 'fight' scene with James at the start of ME3 was so cute. Loved the option of telling him off at the end for the nicknames. Tbh the recurring options throughout the game of whether to respond 'friendly' or 'professional' was a nice touch.
+ Also - the fling/relationship between James and Ashley was equally cute.
+ Anderson and Shepherd?? Maximum cuteness. Especially the 'I'm proud of you' moment at the end. Really focused in on the parent/daughter relationship.
+ The symmetry/comparison of Earth/Palaven/Thessia worlds burning and being ravaged by the reapers... the hurt/comfort of 'I understand exactly how you feel' 'i thought i understood how you felt but this is so much worse??'
+ The party... the party!! Ahhhh the only complaint I had was the prompt to dance disguised as talk... but thats just personal preference. The photo at the end - SO CUTE. Also, Traynor reciting the elements of the periodic table while drunk and dancing was probably one of my favourite moments of the whole game.
+ Joker and EDI. 10/10. Perfect pairing.
- Jacob in ME2. Literally the most bland, boring character I'd ever experienced. Specifically chose him for the mission at the end of ME2 cause it was pretty obvious it would end in death.
+ Tbh, all the other characters I loved to varying degrees. Thane, Samara, Javik, I could probably take or leave. The rest- their stories were all so complex. Hated Miranda at the start, was genuinely upset by her death at the end. Jack's character development was insane. Barely touched Wrex in ME1, thought he was a throw away character (boy was I wrong). Probably the best element of this game is the characters and relationships. Love-hated the death of a character in ME1. That was Kaiden for me, and it fitted so well into the storyline generally it really gave so much depth to Shepherds backstory.
- Samara.... did someone put eight-zero-zero-eight into a calculator while they were having a meeting about her?? Did she put her costume into the dryer when it was line-dry material?? Please TRY and make it less obvious who you are catering to, here. Also upset there was no option to stop her killing her daughter, just...stand by and watch, I guess.
+ ME3 acknowledging and showing the effects of constant war on Shepherd with the nightmares. Enjoyed that you could play it cool/fake it when asked or genuinely respond and say what was wrong. Although, I did notice that for the 'survivor' backstory on Azure, pretty sure it changed from 'Threshermaw attack' in ME1 to 'Cerburus' in ME3. Might've missed something there, tho.
+ Honestly, just the dialogue in ME3. Esp. the mid-fight chatter among teams Mako and Hammerhead in the clone mission. 10/10, apart from the occasional cut-scene dialogue we didn't get enough interaction between characters. Enjoyed it a lot, really put a lot more personality into everyone.
+ Aria... 100/10. Really nice deviation from the 'classic' asari we see elsewhere. Also, her whole appearance and personality were matched so seamlessly, I love it. Felt like it gave my Shepherd an opportunity to play the bad guy a bit more away from her crew. Although would have been nice to get a warning that you can't get back to Omega in ME3 once the mission is completed... I never did find her couch. Saying that, it was a shame she was never made to appear in the final fight cutscene.
+ The ring from EDI... literally the best gift ever. Shepherd is forever keeping it on her tags. Forever.
+-Kinda loved and hated the whole going-to-the-room-the-person-is-in-for-a-chat. The elevator got old pretty quick. A nice touch being able to invite people up to your cabin and meet up on the citadel (although again, at some points it felt like I was at the citadel meeting people more than I was out there saving the galaxy. Shepherd is a popular woman, but more missions to compensate, or mission-related/style meetings could have been nice).

lyn reads triple zero - finale
by which i mean i finished it last night and i have Thoughts
first off, it was a decently enjoyable book when i managed to turn off my brain. solid 3 stars. there's a lot of good here that i actually really liked, it's just... unfortunately balanced out by a lot of bad that made me want to throw my phone across the room.
so here we go. thoughts, in no particular order:
1.) i genuinely love the characters. even ones like kal who i hate as much as i love. i can see why people who don't do more than a surface reading like him. personally, i love how crunchy a character he is and how all his many flaws make him this unintentionally complex character. i just want to pick his brain apart.
i could ramble on about everyone but it's a lot of "these feelings i already had about these characters have been reinforced like crazy" which basically means i'm fascinated by all of them, want to get all of them therapy, and also want to write all the fic where they get to have healthier relationships lol
2.) there's a lot of yelling in tcw side of fandom about how the clones should get chances to act like the dumb college age kids they are, and they get to in this book!! i think some of my favorite moments were when the boys were egging each other on and giving each other shit. especially that fi and sev bit with the ladder, at least until sev hurts himself. like how fucking dumb is that but also how fucking typical of 20-ish year olds?
3.) fi is gay. fi is so gaaaaay. there are so many little points in his narration where it's like "ah, yes. he is absolutely attracted to [X] person" but beyond that, his whole little subplot about feeling like something in his life is missing? wanting a normal life and a girlfriend, etc? it's juxtaposed against etain and darman so much that it comes across like fi is in love with darman and just doesn't realize.
yes, i have a new ship. yes, i'm going to write horribly angsty fic for it. why do you ask?
4.) etain and darman are cute when KT isn't pushing her weird ass heteronormative agenda. though my aroace ass literally yelled at my phone "YOU'VE KNOWN HIM FOR A CUMULATIVE WEEK AND CHANGE, YOU DON'T LOVE HIM YET" when they had their first lil heart to heart and slept together that first time. but, again, they're young 20-somethings who might die at any time, i can forgive them that.
shit, i can even forgive etain's whole pregnancy thing--to a point--because she's a dumb kid who is going through a crisis of faith. (more on that specifically in a sec) but jfc kal's reaction to it all was--idefk. he's absolutely right to be furious with etain. what she did was stupid in the first place, not well thought through, and she's putting a hell of a lot at risk by going through with it.
but everything else about his reaction was just--dude. what the actual fuck. and 60% of that is his clinging to his bizarre conservative mando ideals while 40% is his utter disdain for the jedi and i just--UUUUGH.
5.) every time the jedi came up in narration. every. fucking. time. i wanted to scream. i know KT has terrible opinions on them. i've read most of the other books!! but oh my god it was especially bad.
do i think it would be interesting for etain and bardan to have crises of faith because of the war? absolutely. in fact, it even makes sense that they would!! but the way KT goes about it is just fucking baffling.
which is really highlighted by that one conversation etain has with ordo where he says "nah, you've got a worse life than i do because i was adopted but you were given away to strangers by your parents" and i'm just
THE FUCK DO YOU THINK HAPPENS TO NON-JEDI KIDS WHEN THEY GET ADOPTED, ORDO???? THEY'RE GIVEN AWAY TO STRANGERS BY THEIR PARENT(S).
there is just. so much. so much about the jedi that's so wrong and that if it was written rightly should've fucking changed entire character interactions and plot and it infuriates me.
6.) everything about the mission is just. plot holes all over. if i take it at surface value and treat it like a bad action movie that's just here for entertainment i'm fine, but the second i stop to actually think about how this whole mission is happening i'm just--that's not how this works. that's not how any of this works. how are you all not dead???
but, you know. whatever. i can deal with it. there were highly entertaining moments. i literally cackled out loud when fi told kal that he and sev planted explosives in the one dude's car and kal was like "... the car i was in?? FI." and i'm real intrigued by bardan as like... the commandos' Q figure. it's highly entertaining.
7.) i have A Lot of Opinions about the weird ass brand of masculinity KT's characters subscribe to. but one thing i appreciate is that her male characters cry and aren't thought of as less for it. it's one bastion of good in a sea of blegh.
8.) i mostly stopped capping bits as i got sucked in but i did nab this bit which made me laugh and is a good bit to end on. (i forgot what my other points were gonna be; work distracted me lkajsdf)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
fi as a musical fan is my new favorite headcanon. i don't care if grease doesn't actually exist in the gffa.
also i need a crossover with mass effect where he and garrus exchange sniping playlists.

happy to see you back (sorta) and that you are ok! I'd love to hear your thoughts on shows and what you're looking forward to, but no pressure :) whatever works best for you
HIIIII hello happy to be back (sorta)!! I have about 9 months worth of show to review so I'll give them a grade out of 5 and I'll try to be brief with any comments lol I haven't scrolled through my dashboard on here in ages so I have no clue what everyone thought about them!
Under a read more because it's literally an essay
WATCHED (in some sort of chronological order)
-To my star s2: 3.5/5
I think I need to rewatch it already and binge it because following it weekly was extremely frustrating to me and I feel like I might have been too harsh on my judgement. Everything about Jiwoo's choices and actions seemed extremely irrational to me and it was a struggle to watch. It might make more sense if I watch all of it at once again though. It was still well made, well acted and well produced so at least there's that.
-Roommates of Poongduck 304: 5/5
I am EXTREMELY biased about this show because I've been obsessed with this pairing since Kissable Lips (camp masterpiece, I feel like nobody gets it the way I do) and I was sooooo happy to see them again with different characters. I honestly loved the show, I feel like it was using a lot of common kdrama tropes as opposed to the usual bl tropes and it was so fun to me. The pace felt great, the characters and their motives made sense, the chemistry was so great... That said I need everyone to go vote for Jiwoong on Boys Planet because being an idol has been his dream and his goal for ages and he finally deserves a GOOD chance
-Triage: 4/5
I had started this back when it was airing but I was missing a few episodes and I have to say I am pleased with it. It had some weird pacing issues and that's why I wouldn't give it a full 5/5 but the plot was very interesting and engaging. I would definitely recommend it.
-Love mechanics: 4.5/5
I was very unfortunately a love mechanics (2020) enjoyer and veemark have a hold on me so I had to watch it and it was definitely better than the original one. They fixed some of the plot issues and the longer run time allowed them to give the characters more depth. It did feel slightly repetitive or slow at times but the actors are so good that I didn't even mind.
-Vice versa: 3/5
Very cool concept, I was a bit worried about it at first but I enjoyed the plot. My main issues were with the pacing (it felt way too slow at times) and I wasn't completely sold on the romance/chemistry either. The way the parallel universe rules were explained felt a bit lame, having someone just straight up tell them how it works while I was hoping they'd have to figure things out together. I have to say i LOVED the small details they used to define the other universe like the transparent paper or the different food, it was a fun extra element that highlighted they were strangers there. I honestly don't remember too much else of this show which means it wasn't a standout to me.
-The Eclipse: 4/5
THE ACTINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG I was so obsessed. The plot got a bit lost but wow I loooooooved the brainwashed school prefect slowly realizing he's being manipulated by the people in power. That was GOOD. I liked the characters more than the plot they ended up with. The trailer was overpromising in that regard, I was expecting a full on mystery/possible scifi elements but it got sidetracked and lost itself. The final episodes when they're shooting the movie make no sense to me. It still gets a 4 because of the main couple, both characters and actors.
-Kieta Hatsukoi: 5/5
I had not seen this before and I finally caught up and wow it is as good as they say. Genuinely heartwarming and wholesome, i LOOOOOOVE the friendships, the OST is so good omg it was so sweet and funny. I already want to rewatch it, it's in the same category as Light On Me for cute slowburn with wholesome friendships
-The director who buys me dinner: 1.5/5
Honestly it's a 1.5 because the plot is somewhat interesting but it did NOT deliver at all. The short episodes might have been the first hindrance to fully developing the storyline but the weird idol with a bad attitude side character subplot took up way too much time. The flashbacks felt rushed and hard to follow, I think Tinted With You had tried something similar but in my opinion they had managed the pacing and plot way better. This is one of those webcomic adaptations that gets destroyed by the short running time and low budget unfortunately. If it ever got remade properly I'd be interested though.
-Cutie Pie 2 You: 2.5/5
It started out better than s1 and then I sort of lost interest and remembered why I didn't like s1. SO much wasted potential. I only tuned in to see Nuer and Syn and they did not disappoint (I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVED their spicy scene, god it was so awkward and honest and true and still managed to be hot) but I wish they'd gotten more screen time. Please give them a spinoff! The whole wedding fiasco was so boring, the comedy did not land well this time, how do you manage to have so much filler content in a 4 episode special is beyond me
-Between Us: 4/5
Oh the UWMA nostalgia hit so hard with this one. It was exactly what it should have been and slightly better than I was expecting (I think New's directing has improved over the years). Seeing Pharm, Team and Manaow together again made me so happy, my best friends. When the original ost started playing at the end I might have sobbed. I spent the whole time screaming for Team to get theraphy and stop trying to actively trigger his PTSD but he wouldn't listen. I had read the novel and I was a bit worried about the adaptation but I think they managed to capture the sense of comfort and safetly that Win provides to Team very well. Even the misunderstandings and the repressed feelings weren't too frustrating except for one or two instances. I even managed to enjoy the new side couple, Prince is SO CUTE!!!!!!!!! Man I just love characters who are sure about their identity and have been for a long time.
-The New Employee: 3.5/5
Cute. Nicely acted. Adored the flashbacks to university and the friendships. Plot wasn't anything too exceptional and it seems like they ran out of it 4 episodes in. Just okay
-Individual Circumstances: 2/5
The past few months have not been a happy time for kbls. They seem to be going for quantity over quality and they've been falling flat. I think the parallel between the story and the novel being written are the only interesting thing about this show, but they're also so obvious they don't really help saving it. I zoned out so bad I can't even remember why they had broken up in the first place. Were they even together? The low budget was also a heavy weight here, it just wasn't good.
-Gap: 2.5/5
I struggled rating this because it has some high highs and some low lows. I just wasn't vibing with the plot, i know the title is literally GAP and the show is about the gap in age, power, etc between them but god it got so repetitive and frustrating I couldn't really take it seriously anymore. Things I liked: Freen's acting, i think she did a great job portraying Sam. I liked Sam's character a lot, her awkwardness and apparent coldness and how she tried to break free from the manipulative power her grandma had over her. I think she was very interesting and layered and well acted. Another thing I liked were the intimacy scenes. I wasn't expecting much but I found them to be very well done, the chemistry was good and they felt very realistic. I don't think they were overdone and honestly we needed some lesbian sex to restore the balance after 5000000 bls. Cons are literally everything else, the people at the office and Sam's friends all felt like comic relief caricatures with no depth, Kirk was absolutely unsufferable. I'm only saving Tee and Yuki who I am hoping will get a spin off because I SAW THEM... I heard that baby in the last episode... How did they sacrifice such an interesting side couple for what? 10 minutes of extremely pointless Saint screen time? As a lesbian, (this is my excuse as to why this got so long)
-My school president: 5/5 10/10 1000/1000 <3/<3
WOW!!!! I was expecting less than nothing because the trailer had not prepared me. I thought it would be yet another boring high school slow burn with unexperienced actors but instead we got this amazing gem. I am SO happy I gave it a chance, it had my attention right from episode 1 and it was my motivation to get to the end of each weekend. Gemini and Fourth are incredible!!!! It was such a wholesome show about frienships and growing up together and being supportive. I loved every minute of it. THE MUSIC!! oh my god the music!!!!!!!!! Both the original songs and the bgm were so on point, I am so obsessed with all the tracks. I am usually not a fan of slow burn but if it's like this then I am all for it. The characters are clear about their feelings a few episodes in already and then it's more of a self imposed boundary that they keep pushing and pushing and that tension is just so much fun to witness. Honestly GMM was on fire these past few months, all my favorite shows were from them and it seems like they've been listening to some feedback unless it was a coincidence that all the good shows ended up airing at the same time lol
-The warp effect: 4/5
I am so confliced about this show. Everything about it is a full 5/5 for me except for Alex's character (and Army not shutting up ever). I'm trying not to spoil the ending because it's only been a week since it aired but it's hard to explain what I liked and what I didn't like about it lol. I guess I liked how the time skip worked but, while for most of the show it felt like it was an ensemble cast narration, the ending really does remind us that after all Alex is the main character. The side characters and their subplots were all interesting and varied and felt very refereshing for GMM standards (except for Army constantly outing Joe, I get that they were trying to portray him as someone very sure and proud of his identity and a bit slow at understanding others but man... they were really forcing his character to get some drama between them). Spent a solid bunch of time rooting for a Jean/Kat couple only for it to get adressed in canon and get laughed at so I quickly and bitterly gave up and accepted they were never going to be anything but straight. The more we found out about Alex and Jean's first time the more horrified I was, I did NOT want that Alex to ever be dating her so I was scared they'd put them together anyway since they're main leads. The actual ending was a compromise I can accept but still... Not ideal. If only there was a magical camera to send all idiots forward in time to witness the damage they've done...
-Moonlight Chicken: 10000000/5
A masterpiece!!! Legendary!!!! Everything I've ever wanted and more!!! There was nothing I didn't like? Not a single thing I can think of? Maybe just Alan being overly bitter and mean but oh well assholes exist everywhere. I went in with zero expectations because the trailer had made it seem like it would be all about cheating, as soon as I found out there would be no cheating involved I dropped all my reserves and was on board 100%. EarthMix were perfect and delightful, they're just so good together and their characters worked very well as a pairing. Surprisingly slow burn seeing how ep 1 part 1 starts. I like that Wen's job is shown a lot and he actually has real tasks to do that someone in his position would do (him answering emails at the temple really got to me lol). The atmosphere the setting the lighting the colors... Just gorgeous. AND THE SIDE COUPLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE don't even get me started on Li Ming and Heart. Wow. Getting double GeminiFourth for a few weeks was such a treat, 3 days in a row of them delivering incredible performances (their first kisses lining up on the two shows was just adorable).
-Never let me go: ?/5
I sort of dropped this one? I was following it weekly up until ep 4 or 5 and then it lost me. The pacing was way too off and they had weird audio issues. The editing as well was bothering me, with really long closeups with nothing happening and similar issues. The plot wasn't interesting or new enough to keep me interested. I might finish it now that most of the shows I was following have ended.
CURRENTLY WATCHING
-Bed Friend:
I started this for two reasons: I will be tuning in for its spinoff since it's TutorYim AND I've been hearing about this show possibily getting made for the past 3 years. I remember when people wanted it to go to SaintZee (rip) so I wanted to check it out and I see what they meant. James has Saint energy, I won't elaborate. It's definitely as explicit as a show about friends with benefits should be lol I hope they can develop the romance aspect nicely and I hope it won't stem soley from King trying to "fix" Uea. The flashbacks to Uea's past are rather alarming (another instance of me screaming GET THERAPHY at him every time he's on screen) and I'm hoping there won't be too many more insances of them. As if the abusive mother wasn't enough? It feels too tropey to send all these bad "punishments" his way because he's an explicitly gay character.
-A Boss and a Babe:
Here comes another fully biased review, I couldn't not watch this as an avid ForceBooker. Only one episode in so there is not too much to say but honestly I am on board with ANYTHING from them. It's directed by New so I am prepared to be let down at some point but they could seriously just show me 60 minutes of Force's face and I wouldn't mind. I'm excited because it did not look slow burn-y at all and that fills my heart with joy. I like office romance comedies so much what can I say. I KNOW Cher looks like an absolute dumbass but I know there's a brain in there. He's so cute he'll never get on my nerves. I will fight every single person on MDL to defend Book and his acting, I don't care.
LOOKING FORWARD TO
-Our Skyy 2: STACKED LINEUP. More PhuTian and more PatPran are a dream come true, a blessing, a gift etc. Please air soon I need to water my crops. I am honestly excited for all couples (I just need to catch up on never let me go I guess), give me that little extra content to boost my serotonin and PLEASE BE GOOD
-23.5: MILKLOVEEEEEEEEE I also really really want this to be good because it has so much potential please please please. Happy about more GeminiFourth as well, and Ford too! He did so well on My School President, I need to see more of him.
-Middleman's love: TutorYim. TutorYim. TutorYim. TutorYim.
-Only Friends: I am hoping this will be a BL version of friend zone with a more grown up writing. Stellar cast again so I am very intrigued. (I've been affectionately referring to it as the gmm horny show)
-Last Twilight: could be a big hit or a big miss depending on how they handle it. I am very curious and a bit hopeful after seeing Moonlight Chicken
-The Next Prince: I think I'll end up hating this one but the trailer was so dreamy, straight out of a royalty AU. The truth is I believe Nunew should be the next global idol and singing a few OSTs for his bls + the occasional youtube cover isn't the way to go. (I am sort of joking, of course if he's happy doing this then it's not an issue at all) (IDK why Wabi Sabi sent their actors (Yacht especially, wtf) on a Korean survival and Nunew is still shackled to Zee)
-Absolute Zero: I feel like this will be a disaster. It sounds interesting on paper but I have zero faith they'll do it justice. Please prove me wrong
-The Korean Why R U remake: I feel like I am contractually obliged to tune in since the original show is what made me who I am today as a person. I have serious doubts this will work the same magic on me.
-About a hundred new Kbls (I truly can't keep up and I end up skipping most of them unless someone I trust really recommends me one at this point)
-Rumored season 2 of blueming? Rumored season 2 of Kissable Lips???????
I think that's all for now (lol) I swear to never take another 9 month break because this recap took me 2 full hours to write

Accident
For @wolfstarmicrofic June 23 prompt: Accident
Two months.
Two short (excruciatingly long if your name is Sirius Black) months between years Six and Seven were apparently enough to render someone completely unrecognizable. At least, that’s what two months had done to Remus.
“Merlin,” James breathes, awe-struck as he nearly cranes his neck to get a look at the lad who’s just popped into their usual train car. He hops up to slap Remus on the back and pull him in for a hug.
“Where the bloody hell is Lupin and what have you done with him?” James laughs, and Remus ducks his head, lips rolled sheepishly into his mouth.
“Yeah,” Remus sighs. “Bit weird, isn’t it? I hadn’t even noticed until I tried on some of my school trousers while packing my trunk and they barely hit the bottom of my calves.”
Peter Pettigrew, once the smallest and now always the smallest, huffs against the window with his arms crossed.
“’Hadn’t noticed’ he says. Give me a break,” he mutters.
“Nice to see you too, Pete.”
The compartment has grown incredibly small. And hot. And when the attention of his friends is turned onto Sirius, who has yet to make a peep at Remus’s arrival, his words escape him.
“Sirius,” Remus greets him with a nod. A smile dances on his lips and mirth shimmers in his eyes. Were they always golden?
James silently prods him with a look, a look that says ‘wake up, knob’, but Sirius can’t move, can’t speak.
Because what is there to say when one of your best mates shows up after a two month long holiday with a golden sun-tan, sun-highlighted hair that’s at least three inches longer than the last time Sirius has seen it, and surely more than three inches added to their overall height? Sirius doesn’t know, and his brain won’t tell him.
“Sup?” Is what he lands on.
James scoffs. “Smooth.”
Sirius presses himself up against the window across from Peter for the rest of the ride to Hogwarts. James is going on and on about needing to appreciate sights that they’ve seen fifty times before because it’s the last time they’ll be on their way school on the Hogwarts Express again. Usually this is where Sirius would argue that they’ll see it again when they come back from Christmas Holiday, which would inevitably send them into some entertaining argument to propel them through the remainder of the ride.
But Sirius is too focused on the mere inch of space between his and Remus’s thighs. He still feels too hot when he presses his forehead against the cool glass. He just wants to be there already.
~
The welcome-back party is in full swing after dinner, and Sirius is sulking.
It’s not that he doesn’t agree with the underlying whispers traveling around the crowded common room.
“Have you seen Remus?”
“That’s Remus!?”
“He got cute.”
“He got bloody right fit is what he did!”
Sirius does agree. He definitely agrees.
He just doesn’t like that everyone else’s eyes are on him now. Sirius always knew; he always thought Remus’s freckles suited him nicely, and could see the lean muscles he seemingly tried so hard to keep covered. Remus being good looking is no new notion, and he silently shuns the girls who think so while he swigs from the fire whiskey. But Sirius also knows how captivating Remus is. How intelligent, and witty, and outright hilarious he is.
And he doesn’t want other people to notice. He wants Remus to remain his hidden treasure.
“Why so Sirius?” He hears from behind him. He continues to stare into the fire.
“Good one.”
“You haven’t even properly said hello to me, you know,” Remus points out, sitting criss-cross next to Sirius.
Sirius makes eye contact.
“Hello.”
“How was your summer?” Remus prompts. Sirius hates small talk. He’d walked away from no less than four people who had asked him the same question earlier that evening. But a question like this from Remus is genuine, because it’s Remus.
“Shit.” Sirius picks at the carpet. “I mean, I did get to stay with the Potters for a few weeks. After... well, you got the owl.”
“I’m sorry I couldn’t be there. I tried, but my mum--”
“Don’t worry about it. I could have come to see you, but I was being a bit of a prick, to be honest,” Sirius sighs, remembering when James ripped him a new one for being too snippy with his parents.
Remus nods. “So nothing out of the ordinary, it sounds like.” He smirks in Sirius’s direction when he jokingly gasps. He buts their shoulders together, and Sirius turns fire-hot again.
“I really should have come to see you, though. Who knew I’d miss so much!”
Remus tilts his head in a puppy manner.
“What do you think you missed? I promise, all I did was work on the farm all summer. It was a pain in my arse and now I’ve got lumbar pain--”
“I missed when you got hot, you ponce,” Sirius blurts. It takes him two seconds of staring at the fire whiskey in his hand before administering it blame for his momentary word vomit.
Remus stiffens. Sirius stiffens.
“That was an accident, I don’t know where that came from,” Sirius bubbles, trying to talk his way out of the hole. “I mean, you know you’re hot. You have to know. Everyone’s talking about it.”
He’s not making it any better. And now he can see heat creeping it’s way out of the collar of Remus’s thrift store sweater and up his neck.
“I didn’t know you thought I was hot,” Remus laughs lightly, and Sirius can’t read him. He doesn’t know how to tread.
“Everyone does now.”
“I don’t care about everyone.”
Their eyes flick to each others, silver and gold. It feels like a moment that’s building for a long time, and maybe Sirius is glad for the fire whiskey. The stare between them feels like igniting a flame and letting it gain heat until it’s one big bonfire.
Remus’s eyes flicker towards the stairs that lead up to the marauders dormitory.
“I made you something. This summer. Would you like to see it?” Remus asks, face only but a few inches from Sirius’s.
Flooded with feeling, Sirius nods and lets himself be pulled up from his position. Lets himself trail behind Remus, now a few inches taller than himself, with their hands clasped. Ignores the knowing stare Prongs sends him from across the party.
Lets himself be pushed against the cobble stone wall just outside their bedroom door.
“That was no accident. You’ve been checking me out since the train,” Remus laughs, pressing their foreheads together.
“Oh, shut up.”
Remus plants his mouth on Sirius’s with such heat and conviction that it’s quite clear his feelings are reciprocated. Sirius could have guessed, with all of the little moments they’d had over the years (including the time he woke up with a nude Remus tucked into his chest and a banging headache) but there is no guessing here. And it feels like they’ve been waiting forever for this moment to come to fruition.
Apparently it felt like forever to everyone else, too, because a chorus of, “ow, ow!” reaches their ears at the top of the staircase. Sirius laughs into Remus’s mouth, and Remus pulls off to grip Sirius by the shoulders, leading him into the room.
“Prongs and Petey just earned themselves a slumber party in the common room for that one.”
The door magically slams shut and locks behind them.
yo that was so much more than a microfic but it GOT AWAY FROM ME. sorry not sorry

I have been currently re-watching run episodes and I am disheartened to see how bighit has ruined so many things.
They have made everything shippy. There are quite a few episodes where you will see balance but some are like they want to make it too obvious.
1st is jungkook waiting for jimin to go home. It was too obvious. I'm like even if they live together why broadcast it too much. They have never done it with other members. I heard they had a concert near airing date so that explains a lot.
2nd was run ep 134 or 135, constant touches by jimin, their team name, how jimin butt in when jk was talking too his mother, repeating her i love you too much. I'm like chill. I'm not sure if any concert or public appearance or any discontent on internet was there but TMI for any member. I believe every member have met each other parents. Personally highlighting one member makes it obvious.
I am ok with shipping, i like it ,be it taekook, jikook, taejin, yoonmin etc. But shoving it down my throat by making it personal (not talking about skinship) is too much. Maybe it's just my opinion.
Hmm, I can't say I feel the same way.  You could be right, but I've said before that I personally kind of doubt they put that much thought into the shipping thing, most of the time.  That goes for the members and the company.  Use it to their advantage?  Yes, absolutely.  And I do think that Bit Hit tends to put Jikook together in units out of a mix of them having good chemistry and fans liking to see them together (and, you know, because there's nothing there that they need to worry about accidentally revealing, in my opinion etc.), but for the most part I personally doubt it goes much deeper than that.
Maybe that's naïve, or maybe I'm just not familiar enough with the, like, official practices surrounding shipping in South Korea.  That's totally possible.  But why make it more complicated than it needs to be, you know?  All they need to do is put the guys together in popular pairings for units, and they reap the benefits and rewards -- why does it need to become some complex plot beyond that?  I just don't see the benefit of that.
So, to me, when I see Jimin getting excited about Jungkook's mother telling him that she loves him, I just assume it was a natural, organic thing that happened on the show and it was included because it was cute and funny.  Honestly, like you say, you have to figure that all the members have met each other's families, so I don't see why Jungkook's mom saying she loves Jimin is such a big deal.  He was so pumped about it that it clearly doesn't happen often, you know?
As far as Jungkook waiting for Jimin to go home, even that I don't feel like they drew a ton of attention to.  Some, maybe, because the guys were lingering around, going back and forth between seeming to leave and then coming back in (assuming we're talking about the domino episode).  I just figure the guys drive in to work on their own and then they're brought to their filming location in company cars, and that they probably have assignments for who shares cars in those situations to keep things organized.  That's just a guess on my part, but it seems to fit with what we know, and it would make sense to help the members keep their privacy in terms of the cars they drive and stuff.  I mean, maybe they're getting picked up and dropped off at/from work all the time, but that just seems sort of weird to me.
Anyway, sorry, I got kind of sidetracked there.  I guess I just personally don't feel like the company does that much to intentionally make things "shippy" beyond just putting members together for unit activities.  Maybe that is a factor when it comes to which details get added to the final cut of their content, but I still figure the interactions themselves are primarily genuine and the editors are just working with what they have (and what they feel is appropriate to share).

Getting excited
I stopped learning gamemaker a while back bc I'm an ADHD bitch and it no longer brought me the dopamine it used to. I'm sure once I get back into it it'll continue feeling good and fulfilling, though it's a bit of work to get pedalling again since I applied for a job and etc etc got thrown off track a bit. But!! I just started concept on something that's really knocking my socks off and getting me thrilled about the idea of game development again, and genuinely thrilled for gamedev not just thrilled at the idea of having a game to put my music in.
My steady wrote a comic for school a while back where this kid transforms into a raccoon, which we lovingly dubbed Raccoon Witch Nelly, and as I was banging my head against the writer's block in their house the other day I saw the comic on their wall. I thought it'd be a fun exercise to get me back into soundtrack'ing to make a cute little theme song for a game about Nelly, and the reward of making my sweet little steady smile would be motivation enough to finish it. Lo and behold, this is some of the most fun shit I've ever written in my life. It's super funky (and you know how I struggle w funk) and I love love love the harmonies (though I still need to workshop them a bit since the intro has pretty thin texture and the chords can be kinda jarring when they're not obvious.) As I was in a frenzy writing this piece, I started conceptualizing a game that could come from it and here's the concept so far:
You play as [NAME], a kid living in the big city of [CITY]. By day you're a normal fourth grader, but by night you're a seasoned WITCH HUNTER!! This city is full to the brim with witches, and --with the help of your faithful friend Nelly-- you're determined to vanquish each and every one!
A lot of what excites me about this game so far is the setting, particularly the witches themselves. So far I have a few dozen conceptualized and their powers range from underwhelming to decidedly-nonmagical. I want to list them all here because they're so fun, and that would keep with my intentions for this blog to be my own personal devlog, BUT just in case this game does get released --should it get popular-- I don't want any spoilers for the fun little jokes and ideas getting out if someone finds this blog and fans pour over it the way they did for undertale or whatever. Someday I may want to share a comprehensive list, but suffice to say for now that Nelly's power to turn into a raccoon is by far the most useful/powerful magical ability. Because I'm so excited though, highlights at present include: -Stitch Witch; can make your clothes fit weird or become scratchy when she's feelin naughty (power also capable of positive changes though she wouldn't know bc she's always feelin naughty) -Cone Witch; has a bunch of traffic cones that she uses to block off parking spaces, close roads, etc. -Sand Witch; can make any surface smooth by rubbing it incessantly (slightly less efficient than sandpaper) -Call Witch; there's a slight chance her phone rings whenever someone makes a phone call. Also a ballsy poker player.
Anyways, I've been whistling the theme tune all week so I might post a sample of that once it's a bit more coherent and not a pain to export Sibelius. In the meantime here's my process page so far. I frigging love process pages for my writing I think they're so pretty and someday I'm gonna go through my old notebook from school and find/frame my favourites. I'm so excited for this project and I look forward to looking back on this post someday and hopefully feeling nostalgic rather than guilty-oh-no-i-never-did-that-ohh-god-i'm-wasting-my-talents-and-youth-oh-god-ooohhh-uuuhhh-oooooooohhhh
Big love to you all (me) ~Percy

Hello hopper/enzo and/or el/max for the ship ask thing 👀
hello hello these are so good and honestly not ones I have thought super hard about before so thank you!!
Hopper/Enzo:
Whether I ship it or not: I can absolutely get down with it
Why I ship it or not: I do really enjoy their rapport in s4 and a lot of their interactions later in the season had me like men! kiss each other!
My opinion on their canon potential (chemistry, canon interactions, etc): on account of Enzo being married and us really not knowing anything about his family idk it's a little messy to navigate in canon BUT like I mentioned I really think they had some solid chemistry and in my head could see sort of an unresolved/unspoken attraction that just leads to them being like I Will Never Forget You My Brother In Arms. you know, 80s action hero shit since s3 was so intent on just making Hop a weirdly played-straight action protag sorry I'll stop being salty about season 3 now. that being said I really want Enzo to survive s4, I think that Hopper should have another living friend, and even tho the Russia plotline is one of the weaker points of the season for me I think their gradual allies-of-convenience to genuine budding friendship is a highlight and a really really good dynamic in general that I love to see
My opinion on fanon interpretations/fandom around it (Favorite widespread hcs, pet-peeves, etc): I've never really engaged with it in a significant way so I can't really say tbh
El/Max
Whether I ship it or not: I'd say so, I think a lot of the dynamics presented between the younger squad are charming, some platonically and some romantic and some both. in this case I can see them as both!
Why I ship it or not: kind of a twofold thing, I like it as kind of a subversion of the weird way they made El like...immediately jealous of Max when she saw her in s2 and also because them hanging out in s3 was genuinely so fun and cute and I am glad that the writers didn't have them just being catty to one another once they actually got around to having them interact.
My opinion on their canon potential (chemistry, canon interactions, etc): I LOVED them having fun together in s3 and I think overall they have a lot they could bond over even just as friends so I wish we saw more of that before El had to leave!! it makes me wonder about like, what if El and Max also stayed in touch when El left and had the chance to talk about things that touched their lives that maybe they didn't feel comfortable sharing with the rest of the group (like El getting bullied and Max being deeply conflicted about Billy's death). alas.
My opinion on fanon interpretations/fandom around it (Favorite widespread hcs, pet-peeves, etc): I guess I haven't really seen much of them online either/sought out content for them so I'm not really sure haha. I guess I do like that people gravitated towards it early on as a bit of a "fuck you" to that weird animosity they gave El towards Max in season 2 because like I said! that was so dumb and weird! outside of other people's interpretations, I have been rotating the headcanon of transmasc Max and trans girl El in my brain lately. not really doing anything with it just. Thinking

I think I may love you
Part II
Link for Part I:
Here's Part II. I hope you like it
(I just want to highlight that I'm not trying to demonize or judge Rue in anyway throughout this scene and I wrote my version of her for this reader insert world. It's not completely accurate but I tried my best to depict her as I interpret her character in the show. Same thing for Jules' monologue. I don't claim to understand what this characters have gone through, I merely tried to express what I, as a viewer, think that Jules is going through. I really hope I haven't offended anyone, this was just written for fun. So please, enjoy.)
---------------------------------------------------------
Tumblr media
You spent art class starting at the back of Jules' head.
Her hair was shorter then it was before New Year's
You liked the change.
"Are you even listening to me?"
"What?" You turned to Kat.
"I'm trying to talk to you about Ethan." Kat said exasperated.
"Yeah sorry, keep going. I was just..."
"Looking at Jules like a stalker?" She joked. "I got that. Anyway, things with Ethan are just... Am I a bad person if I say boring?"
"Kat, you're allowed to be bored. It's ok. It not your obligation to date Ethan, he's not your job, he's your boyfriend. If your not happy talk to him." You reasoned.
The bell rang and you continued your conversation while putting all your graphite pencils back in the box where they came in.
When you left the classroom Jules approached you right away with that cute mischievous smile of hers.
"Hiii!"
"Hi Jules!" You laughed while Kat went up to meet Maddy. Cassie had been acting weird for a while so Maddy needed someone new to go shopping with.
She gave you an enigmatic grin.
"Let's go then." She held your hand and led you out of the school skipping and laughing. It was January and it was so cold outside.
"Want my coat?" Jules asked amused with your shivering.
"No, don't worry about it." You shivered. She raised an eyebrow. "Ok yeah thank you, I'll take it."
Now in Jules' coat you two walked to a playground next to school that was usually empty at this time of day.
"So what's behind this spontaneous hang out session thing?" You asked.
She seemed to consider this for a minute her brow furrowing in thought.
"I don't know. I guessed I just thought you seemed cool from those talks I had with you and Kat and I thought would get along. Like really get along. Not in a 'Hi, how are you? I'm fine.' way but in a true spiritual genuine way. But not in a lame way. "
"You sure said 'way' a lot in there" You giggled nervously as you two sat on the swings.
Jules burst into a slightly embarrassed laughter.
"Yeah I'm not great at expressing myself eloquently."
"I think that just saying eloquently makes you eloquent."
"Eloquently." She pronounced carefully, her face getting close to yours gazing at you mischievously.
"Precisely."
You two look at eachother for a little while silently. She broke the silence.
"So, wanna be my spiritually linked always truthful... person?"
"Sure I'll be your person. So, no lying?"
"No lying. I can tell you anything and you can tell me anything."
"Sounds good to me. You start."
She looked down a bit and stopped swinging.
"I'm trans. But I'm not sure if I'm a woman. I don't know what being a woman means anymore or which type of gender expression I want to reach. Everything feels binary, and I'm just not. I'm a 'she', I guess I'm still trying to figure out what that means though."
Her eyes were a bit wet as she looked up at you through blonde eyelashes.
"Not knowing is okay. I'll stay with you while you don't know and I'm pretty sure I'll stay with you regardless of whether you actually figure it out. And I'll do my best to support you through everything. I mean, I am your truthful spirit soulmate thing."
You gave her what you hoped was your most reassuring smile and thankfully she rewarded you by grabbing your hand and kissing it.
"Jules thank fuck! There you are!" Rue approached seemingly out of breath. Did she run all the way here?
"Rue! I told you I was hanging out with her after school!"
Rue looked at you and Jules and her eyes fell on Jules' jacket wrapped around your shivering body.
"Yeah, yeah I know. I just, you told me you were going to the mall so I went there looking for you and then remembered you telling me about the whole change of scenery. I know you got upset about Elliot, I just want to explain the situation you know? I don't like when you're angry at me."
Her hand twitched nervously and her eyes were apologetical and pained. Just the thought of upsetting Jules seemed to hurt her.
True to her nature, you new friend jumped up from the swings and went to hug Rue before planting a sweet kiss on her lips that left The sighing with relief. Your stomach clenched at that. You could feel you eyes stinging.
Remembering you, Jules fished out a pen from her pocket ran to you, leaning down to write her number on your arm which you promptly offered up to her. May a piece of Jules written on you could ease the sadness flooding through you right now.
She kissed you in your cheek and waved goodbye as she walked away holding hand with Rue.
You were once again alone.

There are times in human history where words captivate their audience; times when single words or phrases wrap around the listener, melt into their bones and radiate warmth from within. But rarely does one word manage such an impact, rarely is it as revered and as cherished as the word cancelled is to most college students.
Class is cancelled, group meetings are cancelled, the stupidly big semester final project was cancelled. You could cancel nearly anything, and in most cases, it would be beautiful. Cancelled meant more time to sleep in the morning, an afternoon free of pesky project partners, a pleasant reprieve from having to socialize with anyone. It was a glorious word with heavenly connotations that brought tears of joy to your eyes whenever you saw it appear in an email preview.
Except this one.
Spring Semester 2021: On-Campus Classes CANCELLED — Social Distance Measures as per State Regula…
Your last semester as a student in university… online? You couldn’t believe it. All these years of studying rigorously, cramming for exams, attaining a near perfect GPA— just to sit in your bedroom and stare at your computer screen for the last 15 weeks of classes? Had your friends not been there to mope with you, you’re certain a part of you would have gone on a rampage and cursed every bacteria known to mankind for doing this to you.
It was your last year, you whined in private (never in public; your friends had always considered you the mature one, the studious friend who kept everyone in order), yet here you were, setting up your desk for your last ever first day of classes with quite possibly the biggest pout on your face.
Zoom, your school had raved in an email a few weeks into the break, the desktop application that will keep us united in these trying times! As if, you huffed, giving the stupid application permission to connect to your computer’s camera and audio systems. What even was proper Zoom etiquette? Did you have to enter the meeting and greet every student cheerfully? You had always said hi to your classmates before, but something about saying it over a computer mic felt awkward.
The feeling doubled when you finally entered the meeting, only to be met with a sea of black screens save for your professor, who seemed to be clicking around his computer in a rather confused fashion. This was going to suck, you thought bitterly.
You had entered the room ten minutes earlier because, well, you always showed up to class a few minutes earlier than the scheduled meeting time. But was there any point to doing that here? Usually, the time before class was spent making small talk with said classmates, discussing the readings or the assignments, talking mindlessly about whatever came to mind. But something in your gut said it would be weird to do that now.
So you sit in silence for the next ten minutes, nervously tapping your pen against your desk as you wait for the professor to launch into whatever introductory monologue he had planned. You toy with your phone, scrolling through your twitter feed only to see a brigade of tweets from students all over the nation suffering the same fate as you. It was a trending topic.
Two minutes before the class starts, you hear the tell-tale ping of someone entering the meeting. You wave it off just like you have your other 41 classmates thus far, but then there’s the clearing of a throat, and a sweet, “good morning” filtering through your speakers. Lifting your head from the hunched over position you had assumed while glancing at your phone, you’re startled by the sudden handsome face that appears before you.
In a sea of black screens and faceless names, there’s one smiley boy that beams back at you through the dimly lit screen of your laptop, a tiny Jeon Jungkook (he/him) tacked to the corner of his window.
He’s nothing short of a dreamboat, soft and doughy cheeks that catch the hue of the screen light, highlighting his cheekbones in a faint blue color. Imploring doe eyes blinking widely at the screen as he clicks around, narrating his confusion in a low mumble (mic still on, how cute). Dark hair— was it brown? black? the pixelated screen made it hard to tell —messily pushed away from his face.
And his voice, oh his voice. It matches his gentle appearance perfectly. A soft snort. “Am I the only one here?” he says, thin lips pulled to the side in a bashful grin.
The professor laughs with him. “No, but you are the only one with your camera on,” he responds.
You’re not sure if it’s the professor’s teasing jab at literally everyone else or the need to support the cutie who smiles softly at screen, but suddenly, a handful of windows come to life. Your classmates fill up the screen, dressed in an array of styles with bedrooms (and, on the rare occasion, dorm rooms) to match. You nibble at your bottom lip, finger hovering over the button that will expose your appearance to the rest of your classmates
Eventually, the wordless peer pressure, the need to be a good student, and the supportive face of Jeon Jungkook (he/him) have you inhaling sharply before dutifully clicking the camera on. Your face appears on screen, nearly lost in the now overwhelming sea of faces. You’re one of the last ones to turn your camera on, both pages of your zoom meeting participant windows filled with the contrasting images of your classmates joining from their bedrooms. The professor claps in delight, and finally dives into the mandatory first day of classes spiel.
Syllabuses, group work, asynchronous lectures. You’ve heard these words all before, have practically memorized this class’s syllabus like the back of your hand. The pros of being an overachiever. The cons are, however, that you think every question your classmates ask is stupid. Read the syllabus, you want to scream. But it’s the first day of class. You don’t even know who your assigned study group partners (as mentioned in the syllabus) are and you certainly don’t want them to dislike you so soon. They can do that after the third meeting, but not today.
You’re not entirely surprised when your attention drifts away from the professor and the endless sea of stupid questions he’s left to answer. Even when you realize you’ve stopped paying attention, you don’t bother forcing yourself to tune back in. No, instead your focus drifts across the windows of faces.
Some of your classmates are as bored as you, glaring at the screen with disinterest, or glancing off to the side probably at their phones. So you start looking at their rooms, analyzing their decorations and posters as if you’re a professional critic on some house design show.
Jeon Jungkook (he/him) is in a rather plain dorm room. Plain light gray walls— or maybe it’s white —free of decoration. He’s sitting at the provided desk, just like you. The only reason you focus on that is because there’s a multitude of your classmates lazily sprawled across their beds, slumped over a couch. Hardly anyone is sitting at attention like you. Well, except for Jeon Jungkook (he/him). He’s practically exposing the entirety of his living accommodation with the way his camera is set up.
Above eye level, reaching just below his chest, with the room all laid out before you. A neat twin bed, sheets meticulously made. It almost looks like the decorative set at a furniture store with the way the comforter and variety of pillows are placed. He doesn’t seem to be in the crappy dorms you remember, which leaves you wondering where exactly he’s been assigned. You know certain sports clubs get fancier dormitories. Anyway, there’s a door off the side of the bed, a black guitar standing in the corner just behind it. You wonder what’s behind the camera, if maybe his desk is as organized as the rest of his room. Maybe his closet is his weakness, you muse, imagining poor Jeon Jungkook (he/him) with a tornado of a closet. But the thought doesn’t make that much sense, so you discard it quickly.
Anyway, his dorm room. It’s neat and orderly, makes you tilt your head curiously as he swivels from side to side before you. As for himself, he’s dressed in a plain white sweater, hoodie strings perfectly even. His hair has long since fallen over his forehead, but he’s pushed it over this time in a fluffy side part. He was adorably soft.
He’s paying attention to the professor like he genuinely treasures every word that comes off his tongue, nodding along understandingly. He’s even got a pencil in hand, leaning forward every few seconds to scribble something down hurriedly. Not like this is all on the syllabus or anything, you think.
But as soon as the thought crosses your mind, it’s dispelled just as fast. He’s only trying to be a good student, you scold yourself, feeling oddly mean for wanting to make fun of this sweet boy. Especially when he raises his hand a second later and asks the first good question of the day. Something about the grading scale for group projects and how much is determined by the group members themselves. You’re not too sure, the words get a little fuzzy when he starts speaking and his pink lips pull down into an endearing pout.
A couple minutes later and your professor finally wraps up the questions, telling everyone to email him if any other questions arise throughout the semester. Just as you’re sighing in relief, he utters those dreaded words: “Ice-breakers!” he exclaims, and the whole class grimaces, much to his amusement. He says something about feeling the excitement through the screen, but then changes gears. “Since it’s a little hard to talk to your neighbor, I’m going to test out the Breakout Rooms and see how that works, okay guys?”
You frown. Breakout Rooms? What on earth was that? Like most of your classmates, this is pretty much your first rodeo with the Zoom application. He was sending you all into small groups, where? The answer presents itself a few seconds later, a message box appearing on your screen.
The host is inviting you to join a Breakout Room: Group 4
Your professor is still chattering in the background when you nervously accept the invitation, his voice suddenly cut off as your computer jumps to a new loading screen. It takes a while before you’re suddenly dumped into a new room. And then you’re staring at your own face, blown up on your own screen in a rather uncomfortable way. Jeez, did you really look like this?
As soon as you get to picking at your appearance, your mirrored reflection jumps to the side, once, then twice more to fit the three new guests in your room. Silence fills your bedroom as you and your classmates all stare at each other nervously for a couple seconds, unsure of what to say. This was, after all, your first meeting.
Just as you’ve gathered all your courage to click your microphone on, the screen jumps around once more and suddenly Jeon Jungkook (he/him) is in your Breakout Room. Immediately, his surprised face melts into the most reassuring grin you’ve ever seen, and he’s practically jumping forward to turn his mic on.
“Good morning, everyone,” he says, smooth and low. It’s like the awkward tension melts away under the pressure of his pretty smile, your classmates responding back with polite hellos and good mornings to him. You barely get yours in before Jeon Jungkook (he/him) starts talking again. “So… how are you guys?”
His words, sweet and caring as they are, send the five of you into a rather mindless conversation. Talking about nothing really, just whatever comes to mind about the class, about the semester, about the remote learning. Then Jungkook— “just Jungkook is fine!” he tells the other four of you with that same too pure look on his face after someone refers to him by his whole name —starts talking about some movie he had seen on Netflix the other day, something his friend recommended to him. Truthfully, you have zero interest in the type of plot he is describing, and you can tell some of the other people in your group don’t either. But he’s absorbed in his storytelling, features lit up as he details every last plot point of the film like his life depends on it. There’s a wordless agreement to let him ramble on.
By the time Jungkook has finished his novella recapture of whatever movie he was talking about, a green message bubble appears at the top of your screen. It’s a message from your professor, who is telling you the small group meeting will end in a few more minutes.
“Aw, that sucks,” Jungkook laughs, rubbing at the back of his neck sheepishly. And then, “oh! We haven’t answered our icebreaker question yet!”
Ah, yes. The reason for this small group was to get to know each other, not for Jungkook to recount an entire two hour movie for you all. “Oh, right,” you agree, probably the first words you’ve said in the past five minutes. You navigate to the chat box, where your professor had hastily dumped the question before sending you all off. “What’s one thing you miss most about being on campus?” you read aloud, glancing back at the screen.
Your group mates are all in various states of blissful comfort, the gaps of their nervousness smoothed over by Jungkook’s bubbly personality, and the hesitation they’d shown at the beginning is practically gone. Someone steps forward and says something about the campus dining hall. Jungkook laughs, loud and airy, claps his hands all cute too. Someone else says the library because it was a good place to study. There’s a lull and you jump in quickly. “I think I’ll miss the couches by the gym in the student center the most,” you confess, though you doubt anyone knows which ones you mean. They were a set of brightly colored couches tucked into a cranny behind the Starbucks just outside the campus gym, avidly avoided by the gym rats who were determined to ignore the sugary drinks and snacks.
Apparently, the hiding spot isn’t as secretive as you thought. “Oh, the ones by the Starbucks?” Jungkook exclaims, excitedly looking at his screen. You have this fluttery feeling that he’s looking at you for the first time. You nod, and he quite positively beams. “I love those!”
“Yeah, I spend a lot of time there,” you say, though it’s a little stilted because you’re not exactly sure how you’re supposed to react to Jungkook’s enthusiasm. Though his outgoing personality cloaks you in comfort, his pretty smile has your heartbeat acting a little funny.
Jungkook’s got these huge eyes, blinking owlishly at you. “Really? So do I!” And then you both seem to have the same realization. His head tilts to the side cutely, an amused smile on his face, “I’ve never seen you there.”
“I’ve never seen you there,” you shoot back, a little snarkier than necessary, but Jungkook doesn’t seem to notice. His smile turns goofy.
“Woah,” he says in a rather dreamy tone, “isn’t that so cool? We spent so much time in the same place, but never crossed paths before,” he babbles. He’s stopped looking at his computer, leaning back in a sort of dazed manner with this sparkly look to his eyes, much to everyone’s amusement. Except yours, because frankly, it sounds a little bit like he’s describing— “fate!” he says suddenly, like it’s truly an aha! moment. He pauses, taps his finger against his chin. “Or anti-fate? I’m not sure. But it’s like— we could’ve met so many times before and we didn’t.” Doe eyes return to the screen, flickering around until they presumably land on you again. “What do you think, __?”
And he’s just so cute, makes the rigid shield around your chest soften for the slightest moment as you nod meekly. “Uhh, yeah. Fate,” you agree, and then get to hear him laugh and giggle for about three seconds before you’re suddenly thrown back into the larger Zoom meeting.
Weirdly flustered, you hurriedly click your microphone back off, and nearly contemplate the camera too. But then the professor is asking you all to share what you talked about and you’re resigning yourself to a few more minutes of screen time while the class wraps up. By the looks of it, not everyone had as an enjoyable time as you did. Part of you is thankful you didn’t get stuck in an awkward small group. The other part recognizes wholeheartedly that it’s all thanks to one smiley boy at the bottom of your screen.
“And group 4?” the professor asks, and you blink yourself back into attention. Before you can unmute yourself and answer for your group, Jungkook is beating you to it.
“We talked about a lot of things,” Jungkook answers cheerfully. From your view, you get a front row seat to the sheer power of Jungkook’s magnetic personality, watching as all your listless classmates suddenly snap back from their daydreams to zero in on whatever Jungkook is saying. He fills in the professor about what you talked about, from the movies to the couches, and you feel weirdly mushy when his eyes flicker across the screen before settling with a soft smile.
He can’t possibly be looking at me, you tell yourself. Your hand jerks forward to turn the camera off, but in your haste, end up knocking down the water bottle on your desk. You scramble to straighten it, thanking the universe for the fact you actually remembered to screw on the cap. You glance back at the screen, and nearly die when you catch sight of a giggly Jungkook, smile hidden behind an adorable sweater paw as he laughs at something on screen. Oh no, was he looking at me? you panic.
“Alright, everyone,” your professor says in that “I’m about to wrap this class up” voice. Too close to the screen, voice a little too loud. “Good meeting today, I’ll see you all again on Wednesday. Stay safe.”
“Bye!” Jungkook sings sweetly, and everyone else follows as they all bid adieu to the professor. Still a little frazzled from the possibility that Jungkook may have watched you flail around like a total loser, you take a second longer to turn your mic on. Your classmates quickly leave the meeting, leaving only a few stragglers until the very end.
Surprisingly, Jungkook is here too, brown eyes focused on the screen. You unmute yourself. “Um,” you stammer, eyes unwillingly flickering over to Jungkook who smiles at the sound of your voice. “Goodbye. Thank you,” you rush out, and then quickly leave the meeting as well.
With the meeting over, you’re left staring at the home page of the Zoom app, heart beating a little too fast to be normal. Your face feels warm, and your fingers tremble from some unfamiliar, giddy feeling in your chest. You exhale slowly, hand coming up to rub at your chin as if that will somehow explain the weird excitement from your Zoom meeting. Maybe it was just adrenaline, or nervousness, you try to convince yourself. After all, the first day of classes is always nerve-wracking.
Except when you navigate to your class page and begin to mindlessly scroll through the class roster, there’s a weird stutter to your heartbeat when you catch sight of that Jeon Jungkook (he/him) that appears halfway down the list.
