BSD Figure skating AU !!!

I've had this idea bouncing round my head for so long because I skate and i need the drama of the sport as the main plotline in the fic for ONCE instead of romance so HERE WE GO:

Also some context before i go; this is written BEFORE the ISU raised the age limit for seniors from 15 to 17, so this will reflect that. In this AU, it is based loosely off both current skaters and former skaters, ill make another post about who each character is modelled after, BUT the time periods these skaters are from fluctuate from now all the way back to 2014, so in this AU the only quads that have been landed by men are 4 toeloop and Salchow, and none in the womans. COOL NOW ON WITH THE RAMBLE!!!!

Dazai Osamu, prodigy figure skater under infamous coach Mori Ougai. He, alongside his teammate, friend and rival Nakahara Chuuya, sweep Juniors for their first two seasons, with Dazai winning every competition he enters.

Commentators and experts describe him as the future of figure skating and claim he has a talent that can't be trained. This includes very limited amounts of pre-rotation despite Mori's way of coaching (which teaches his skaters to rotate from the back instead of the hips), incredible artistry, and beautiful spins

Both him and Chuuya are tagged to be the two most likely contenders for the gold medal in the next olympic cycle, which as of their first junior season, is 3 years away, over current senior world champion and current 2 time Olympic Gold medallist Dostoyevsky and the Japanese National Champion at the time, Edogawa Ranpo.

Two years later, in their first senior season, Dazai becomes the youngest Japanese man to complete the grand slam, winning every competition he entered, beating out Fyodor by a heavy margin

This all points towards Dazai being the next olympic champion and subsequently he qualifies for the national team.

The next season starts out strong when he once again takes the GPF gold, and then wins again at the japanese nationals

At the olympics, Dazai is chosen twice for the Team event, making history by breaking multiple records and acquiring the gold for the team. Everything points to him sweeping the individual event the next week.

However, in the days before the individual event, a japanese news outlet reports that Dazai had failed a drug test during Nationals earlier that year.

At first Mori stays quiet, until he gives some half hearted excuse shifting the blame off of himself whilst the media continue to hound Dazai, and other skaters become animous towards him, blaming him for doping/ruining the competition.

Dazai is allowed to compete, and as a result, the prediction of three years that he would take gold is flushed down the drain as he fumbles through both programs, placing in 4th.

The hearing for his doping case is adjourned soon after, finding him innocent. He is reinstated for competition just before worlds, where fans expect him to take Gold and reclaim his title after the mess at the olympics.

He doesn't and proceedes to bomb out at worlds, later withdrawing from the world team trophy and not being heard from all summer.

The next season, Dazai comes back for test skates, visibly injured and distressed, abandoning Mori's coaching team the week after in favour of Fukuzawa and former world champion and japanese skating legend Oda Sakunosuke.

a/n : Thank you so much for your request !! I love the idea so let's goo, hope you like it. I kept the same "environment" but change the dialogues and interactions for them, I'm sorry if the beginning is the same, I didn't really know how to correctly do it.

Dazai :

The grand reception hall buzzed with an air of sophistication as the doors opened to welcome the distinguished guests. Dazai, draped in an all-black attire, strolled into the venue with an air of nonchalance. His sharp eyes quickly scanned the room, ever observant.

Amidst the sea of elegantly dressed peoples, Dazai's attention was captivated by a figure weaving through the crowd. You, typically adorned in loose-fitting clothing and a perpetually disgruntled expression, had undergone a remarkable transformation for the evening.

Dazai couldn't help but stop in his tracks, his eyes widening at the sight. The dark fabric accentuated your shoulders and narrow waist, revealing a side of you that had been carefully concealed beneath layers of baggy clothes.

He blinked, momentarily taken aback. "Well, well, what do we have here?" Dazai mused aloud, a mischievous smirk on his lips.

-"Don't act all surprised. Thought I'd try something different for the occasion."

Dazai's smirk widened. "Different is an understatement. I didn't know you had such a figure hiding under those oversized garments. Did you hire a personal stylist, or is this a secret talent of yours?"

You sighed, attempting to maintain composure. "I thought I'd make an effort, that's all. Is it really that surprising?"

Dazai chuckled, circling you as if inspecting the change. "Oh, it is surprising. I never thought I'd see the day when you embraced the concept of form-fitting clothing. It suits you, though."

A faint blush colored your cheeks, and Dazai couldn't help but enjoy the rare sight of you, his partner momentarily flustered. As you both continued into the reception, Dazai couldn't resist teasing you about this new fashion choice. Even if, secretly, he hopes that this won't be the last time you wear these clothes.

Chuuya :

The hall glittered with chandeliers as Chuuya made his entrance. His eyes scanned the room. Amidst the sea of formalwear, his attention was captivated by a figure he recognized immediately.

You, who typically favored loose, comfortable attire, had taken a bold step into the world of formal clothing for the evening. The midnight-blue fabric clung to your frame, accentuating curves and lines that were usually hidden beneath more relaxed clothing.

Chuuya raised an eyebrow, a hint of amusement playing on his lips. "Well, who are you and what have you done to my partner ?" he remarked, his voice carrying a tone of mild surprise. "Didn't think I'd see you strutting around like a runway model tonight."

You were caught off guard by Chuuya's observation, you shot him a playful glare. "I can dress up when I want to. Not every day I get to attend such fancy events."

Chuuya chuckled, his smirk growing. "I never said you couldn't. Just didn't expect you to go from baggy to body-hugging in one night."

You shrugged, feigning nonchalance. "Thought I'd give the fashion police something to talk about. You know, keep them on their toes."

Chuuya laughed, his eyes gleaming with amusement. "Well, you've certainly achieved that. I didn't know you had a hidden fashionista side. Maybe I've been underestimating you all this time."

You rolled yours eyes, but a smirk tugged at the corners of your lips. "Underestimating? Please, Chuuya, I can be full of surprises when I want to be."

"Clearly," Chuuya replied, still grinning. "You're stealing the spotlight tonight. Who knew you could turn heads ?"

The conversation continued at length but Chuuya had a hard time staying focused. One wonders why.

Fyodor :

The grand reception hall exuded an air of sophistication as Fyodor's gaze methodically surveyed the room, searching for you. Amidst the elegant crowd, his attention was drawn to a figure moving gracefully through the gathering.

You, typically draped in loose-fitting garments, had chosen to deviate from your usual style for the evening. The pretty clothes you wore accentuated your form in a way that intrigued Fyodor, in more way than one.

Fyodor maintained his composed demeanor as he went to talk to you, "A departure from the usual, I see. What inspired this sartorial change?"

You, meeting his gaze with a confident expression, replied, "Figured it was time for a subtle transformation. People tend to underestimate the power of appearances."

Fyodor nods, "A strategic choice, then. You understand the impact of perception."

You grinned, "Well, I thought I'd add a touch of intrigue to the evening. Keep things interesting."

Fyodor's lips curved into a faint smile. "An admirable goal. Complexity often begets fascination."

You laughed, “A little dance?” you said, holding out your hand. “I have a partner who will be jealous if they see me in such nice company.” Fyodor said, accepting your outstretched hand.

“You’re really stupid,” you replied, taking him further away, away from the people.

A fascinating evening, indeed.

Sigma :

Sigma in his dark attire entered the hall. Amidst the swirl of activity, his attention was drawn to somebody standing in one of the corner, alone.

You who usually favoring loose-fitting clothes, had opted for something different, very different.

Sigma approached with a genuine smile playing on his lips. "Someone's bringing a whole new vibe tonight. What's the story behind the stylish upgrade?"

You grinned, a spark of confidence in your eyes. "Just felt like trying something out of the ordinary. You know, adding a dash of flair to this boring and stupid party."

Sigma chuckled. "Flair, indeed. It suits you. And here I thought I was the only one allowed to make dramatic entrances."

You teased back, "Oh, there's room for more than one in the spotlight. Care to join me for a dance in the middle of it all?"

Sigma raised an eyebrow, a playful glint in his eyes. "Well, I suppose I could be persuaded. Let's make tonight memorable, shall we?"

Sigma held out his hand, you took it. He lead you to the center of the room, ready to make this evening trully memorable.

They are the most feared detective duo of Yokohama. Despite their violent history, Dazai Osamu and Nakahara Chuuya now set their hearts and abilities on saving people and protecting orphans. (and are father figures to several of them including the wanted weretiger)

In yet another universe,

They are world class figure skaters, known to be bitter rivals by the media. Famous for their own record breaking programs and titles, their rivalry would always be the main attraction of every competition. (only for them to announce something completely unexpected during their last olympic gala performance: their engagement)

And perhaps in another one, or in a timeline they’ve live through in the past…

They are warriors of the sword in their ancient homeland. A fearsome duo—powerful enough to defeat armies; cunning enough to end dynasties of schemes. (yet a tragic time they lived in, a tragic ending they got)

new fic idea!! figure skaters soukoku:

the way they skate is metaphorical, it represents their characters,

dazai's skating style is very dainty and elegant, his moves are smooth and soft. his every move and routine is carefully calculated to the last bit, it's never too fast, neither too slow, his tempo never changes, there are never climax points in his routines. yet his performances are always mesmerizing and serene. it seems easy to copy his routines but it's proven to be harder than it looks for the people who tried.

he's a great talent and it's common knowledge that he's capable of harder and more complex figures, but he hardly ever does them, maybe once in a blue moon. it's not that he's not capable, but rather because it's not fitting for his style. if he did them so often, they'd get regular but he uses these moves so rarely that every time he does something different and bigger than his usual moves it's a shock factor for the audience and that's exactly his purpose.

yet chuuya's skating is aggressive and full of emotions. he puts everything he has into his performances, which often causes him to get physically hurt, but he's a fast healer and he's back on the ice in no time. his injuries are so constant that it has stopped being a cause of worry for his fans, his pain and complex routines are taken for granted because he's never afraid of putting on a show and doesn't shy away from an injury, unlike dazai him using big and hard moves in a performance is not a shock factor which causes him to not get appreciated enough. yet he still keeps doing them, his performances never lose their intensity. he's really professional abt skating and even if something goes wrong during a performance he never lets it ruin the show.

Reader P. O. V

"Oi Y/N! Move those sexy legs, girl!"

This rings through the ice rink. Bouncing through the empty space to my ears.

I don't even need to raise my head to know who it is.

"Same for you Yosano! How's your toe loop going?" I yell back.

Yosano throws a bag next to me. "Better than your Axel sweetie~" she grins, taking a seat beside me. 

As I strengthen the knot on my skate's laces, I roll my eyes at her antics.

Despite my pseudoannoyed behaviour, I adore this girl! The air already felt more friendly and relaxed with her presence around. 

Clacking of ice skates continues to cut through our silence as Yosano began to tie her skates. 

"Where are rest?" I ask when I got off the bench to stretch. 

"I don't know. I saw Kunikida talking to the president before I came in here, but that's it" she matches her movements to mine as she gets to stretching with me.

"By the way you still owe me 500 yen Nick/N~ Dazai didn't show up yesterday!"

Suddenly the void of my penniless pocket wallows around me in agrivating black depth.

I try to avoid making it bigger:

"Alright... Tell you what then... If he doesn't show up today I give you double, but if he does you give me the money and bragging rights!"  

Yosano's eyebrow flies upwards.

"You really have money to spare? You know he won't show up~" she laid her elbows back on the edge of the rink waiting for me to finish stretching. 

"Maybe today I'll get lucky... " 

We enter the rink, Yosano begins to slide around, her gloved hands painting elegance in her small movements.

All that was missing was her well known dark music and costume to accompany her shillouet and her nickname "The Angel of Death" would be justified. 

I watch her move and on their own my legs slide on the ice. Glazing around the bumpy surface, cold brezze pulling my face into a smile the faster I go. 

Skates scraping across the ice was the sole sound kepping Yosano and me company . Letting the frost in the air float around us peaceful, until a heated crash of...  

"DAZAI!"

I turn around to the source of the commotion only to see Dazai booking it to the rink gate, smoothly transition from running on land to gliding onto the ice, his half tied laces flying behind him. 

"What the..." I whisper as I watch him crouch while sliding to tie one of them.

The skin of my eyelids grew tight as my sight widened at his unbashfully skilled movements.

A swift clank of his skate hitting the edge of the rink implied he stopped. 

Kunikida, who was wearing only his sneakers, could now only yell at him from the outside of the rink. Followed by a shaken up Atsushi at his heel. 

Dazai laughed and stood up. He wiggled his fingers at Kunikida, a theatrical smirk on his face. 

I keep an eye on him and his ministartions, smiling.

Yosano, you better pay up!

This type of circus was the usual for us and it would have kept ongoing if president Fukazawa didn't show up. 

"Everyone, please gather around!" 

His calm voice delivered to us these stern words. 

The gate to the rink acted as meeting place so both us on the ice and the ground could gather around him.  

"I'm glad to see you all here" he looks at Dazai for a brief moment "I have some important news for you all... "

Our curiosity gets cured as he pulls out a couple of papers.

"The Armed Skating Agency has been qualified to Japan's figure skating championship!"

Happiness brezzes through our eyes and gasps. 

The excitement stumbled through our circle in forms of questions and exclamations.

Then a lazy remark from outside of our circle blew it all away. 

"Will there be abilities allowed?" came from the seating area.

"Asking for Y/N-chan~"

We turn our heads to see Ranpo licking a lollipop blissfully srechted out on the bleachers.

"That is exactly this competition is so important. They will be allowed this time..."

All our eyes turn from Ranpo back to Fukazawa.

"Wich gives us the amazing oprotunity to improve on all of your programs" 

I felt my presence slowing starting to fade...

"We're starting with practicing your improved programs tomorow. No slumping around, we're competing against the Port Skaters in this. I don't think either of you want to lose to them..."

His eyes scan over us all.  

"Now back to work! And you Y/N!"

The eager stares bounce over to me.

"You don't have an ability and you still made it in our agency. I want you to shine the brightest in this, prove those who doubted you wrong... "

I nod, stiffening with determination growing inside of me.

"Abilities will be allowed this time... This only gives us more advantage"

Mori spoke to a group of skaters, which drank up his every word. 

"This means a lot of work to improve on all of you, the Agency is taking part and loss is not an option. Do I make myself clear?"

The skaters form a yes in union. 

"Good... Now get to work!"

After his speech Mori turned to a short ginger skater, who was taking his skates out of the bag on a bench near him.

"Do you have a moment Chuuya-kun?"

The skater turned to him, one eyebrow raised. 

"I have a suggestion of you... Instead of re-doing your old program... I suggest you skate to a completely new one. Your ability is the best of all we have and we need to use it to it's full extent."

His lips wihtened. Stretched into a smile.

"Wouldn't you agree?" 

Chuuya nodded cautiously. He zipped up his bag fully, straightening to face Mori and accept a tiny piece of paper offered to him. 

"Your specialized training will start tomorow. Be ready. "

I'D LOVE NOTHING MORE

it's still very much. in development. but the basic idea is a professional figure skating au in which dazai and chuuya are both in a skating club under mori competing for a spot on the japanese national team! they have a dynamic going on where they're competing but also they both improve a lot because of that. also dazai has been in the club for a while and chuuya has like, just joined, after leaving his previous skating club for. reasons. (transgender reasons). plus oda is dazai's friend, an ex-professional skater who now coaches kiddos which is just. really cute. OH and kouyou is the club's choreographer and mori's close cooperator! i'm still figuring out how to incorporate everything i want, especially in terms of the atmosphere of the club (basing it, unfortunately, on real skating clubs) as the only viable option if you wanna be a world/olympic champion but also with a lot of disregard for the skaters' wellbeing and pushing them to their limits. but yes i love figure skating i love bsd and i think dazai and chuuya's teenage years dynamic is so perfect to write about in a sports context. i would also potentially like to write a part 2 with agency characters because i really miss writing about them! but that's for another time

Hi! I have been desperately wanting a skk figure skating AU and was expecting I’d have to write it myself but then I found out you have one! Please take this as an invitation to ramble about it, I am listening intently and taking detailed notes like this is a college lecture.

OMG HELLO

1st of all you must know that i actually have 2 versions of this au: skk medal count goes more or less the same but there's a diference

The au I have more worked and developed is a figure skater chuuya only, he's the skater, Dazai is his #1 fan and best friend since dippers, he ends becoming a teacher but he quite likes music, so some times he makes the arrangments for Chuuya's programs

That one is a simple one, Chuuya is adopted by Verlaine when he's 4 or 5, Verlaine is France top skaters, but he suffers an injurie during Torino 2006 and had to retire, so he become Chuuya coach

I love figure skating, I follow it all season so I know more or less about how ISU works and I wanted to keep it more or less realistic: under and over scorings, disliking some music, styles and all that

The only thing I'm more or less ignoring about the ISU is that here they're transfrindly weeeeeeeee Chuuya is trans here

Anyway back to the details Chuuya is also inspird by Yuzuru Hanyu, I'm biased and I'm not sorry

He wins a lot, gets a lot of world reconds and, since he's my fave and this is my self indulgent au, 3 consecutive medal titles: 2014, 2018 and 2022

He'll retire around 26 or so, becuse his style is really agresive, like he has a good technique and he takes care of his body, but he's been hiding injuries and trying quads since his junior days

he's such an artistic skater, deep edges, can do figures, so so so flexible and adaptable... he knows ballet, so he's really a pretty clasic 90s like skater, but with a punk side

Well, you've already seen my post about his programs: he chooses the music he wants, not the one the ISU would like to hear

This happens because, when he was still a junior, he made a deal with Verlaine: If i win the gold at junior worlds, I get to choose my music ALWAYS

AND HE WON

oh and kouyou also trains him, she's his choerographer

but like his brother he gets a bad injury during the Olympics, hide it, and it gets worst at words, so he needs surgery and he takes a whole year to heal

anyway after retiring he goes into coaching, and skk get to get marred and have a kid

also he's terrible at intweviews during his whole carrer, he doesn't have a filter

and he's plushie is of course a tinny dog

The other au is: ice dancers skk

because listen, I love ice dance, and I've been in this fandom since 2016 so you know, the moment i sat in front of my TV watching VirtueMoir skating to Moulin rouge I KNEW THAT WAS SOMETHING MEANT FOR SKK

I know dazai is strong, but I choose ice dancing for them instead of pairs becase I still think that, even if he's strong, Dazai is quite lazzy

They're insane in ice dance, they lifts are, so SO SOSOSO ACROBATIC, they're so in sync that it's scary

also win a lot, they retire a little latter becuse ice dancing is """""easier"""" so they stay in top until their 30s and retire

and well, the kid happens here too because it's my other self indulent thing, he borns during the covid seaons, so they only miss a season and half as they recover and adapt, do a few more seasons where a whole horde of uncles and unties take care of the kid while his parents win medals, and when they finally retire, it's in part so they can foccus on the family they're creating

oh and this chuuya (because i can never leave him alone) gets a small plot of having fribromialgia

the diagnosis is actually what makes skk switch from pairs to ice dance, so it won't take such a tool in chuuya's body

inspiration?? VirtueMoir, SuiHan, Smart/Diaz, Sara/Kirill (can you tell I love pair events???) they're so elegant

Like Poirier/Gilles?? I may have not liked them this season, but the last ones??? the elegance in their Vangoh one?? god insane, i want that for skk

they're elegant and risky and bold, as they get older they lean more in the Daisuke/Muramoto style, older figure skaters everyone looks up to and everyone loves

they're glued by the hip, never seen apart

The base of this one would be their kid in the futyre giving an interview about his parents, like a 10 aniversary thing of skk first OLympic medal, and we'll see their storie like a docuentary

(this is fun because one scene is the reporter showing an old video of skk to the kid and the video is an interview that goes like:

Reporter would you like it if your kid become a figure skater?

skk: no, they would like a sport easier and more natural for the body for the kid.

cut back to the kid in the docomentary sayinf that teehee, he did become a figure skater in the end)
