❪ 🏹 going seventeen ❫ as always, going seventeen provides the viewer a comedic setting of seventeen and their idol personas. in this fic, you'll be able to read the jeongmi moments/cuts caught by carats. this is just a compilation of my favorite gose episodes 🥲 not proof-read 😞

﹙ INSOMNIA-ZERO I ﹚— with seungcheol still in his hiatus, minji was the first person up and she had no clue what she was getting herself into. although there were a few remarks about her snarky behavior when she gets mad and her constant fights with s.coups, she had a clean slate. most of the members mentioned how she was quite literally their mother since they spent most, if not all, their time training. after her time was over, minji had left the mattress with a heartbeat of 98, which was not bad compared to the rest. minji handed jeonghan the heart monitor and sat herself next to wonwoo.

as many might notice, the 95 line are quite stuck to the bone and minji was not afraid of spilling some secrets about jeonghan. the female member began talking about the "oppa" situation and jeonghan turned to the side trying to forget it. the members, who had already heard this story, continued it with jeonghan's prior remarks about how she would never have a clue. all of the chatter about the two later transferred to jeonghan's more devious plans towards the members; minji sat there in silence just montioring the members. once jeonghan's time was over, his first instinct was to look at the cause of the chaos: minji.

"jeonghan-ah, remember. once your time is up, you can't defend yourself~"

[forced to be silent]

he gave her the stink eye and handed joshua the monitor. minji scooted to give him space, which he gladly took. the pair sat in silence for a while until he started to open his mouth about joshua. in the camera shots, you could see the small little heart eyes minji gave jeonghan whenever he spoke and would lean into him. it was the small signals that would drive shippers crazy.. though it would soon end after jeonghan was part of the three members that would go home early, minji being tied with another and turned her attention to joshua c:

﹙ TTT 2020 ﹚— this was the "going seventeen" episode that basically comfirmed the dating rumors between these two. minji, jeonghan, hoshi, and woozi were all in the same car on their way to the rented house. while woozi and driver jeonghan were in the front seats, minji and soonyoung were in the back having fun and giggling to each other. this led to frequent checks from jeonghan through the rearview-mirror only to spot minji looking at him and smiling :3. at their stop to get food, the "woozi cam" captured the pair walking together with jeonghan's arm around her. during the cuts of them eating, a slight drunk minji was basically all up on jeonghan. it got so worse the editors had to cut so much of the footage.

while being on the losing team during foot-volleyball, minji made her way to the alcohol stand where her worst enemy laid, the vodka mix. offering to drink the member's shots, minji knew she wouldn't remember a thing tomorrow. before she started her third shot, jeonghan looked at her questionably and asked if she was okay doing this.

"are you sure you're going to be okay? i don't want you throwing up on me later tonight."

"relax babe, i'll be fine! i used to go band for band when i was a teenager, it'll be alright~~"

[. . . . “babe”?]

noticing her slipup of the word "babe", jeonghan knew it was too late. the members just stared at her and hoped it wouldn't make it to the final cut (it did). though like the self-proclaimed pro she is, she raised the shot glass to her lips and threw her head back. the bitter aftertaste of whatever was in that container had left her feeling a little silly, which had meant the real fun had started to begin.

joining soonyoung in the fanatic drunks is minji. as stated before, minji becomes up and personal with the people around her when drunk. although she may have a high alcohol tolerance (thanks to her underage drinking), minji's affections become more and more affectionate when drinking way too much.

during this time, minji and jeonghan were first beginning their relationship and they did not want to be exposing it right away to the cameras; but pair minji + alcohol and you get a mess that is quite hard to clean up. after she had made dinner, she sat between jeonghan and seungcheol. many fans point out the difference in actions done by the two men. jeonghan was basically minji's headrest and seungcheol was just there to balance her out.

"hannie.. you look so pretty today.. like a cloud.."

"minji-ah, leave that poor man alone.."

"coups.. you look handsome too.."

the day after constant drinking and singing, minji was pretty much hung over #she threw up and spent most of her day taking things slow, especially when cleaning up the kitchen… moving into the car was the best thing she could’ve done. with hoshi taking the driver’s role on the way back, the '95 duo were left in the backseats and spent their time resting (cuddling eachother too bruh).

﹙ AB-LIB GOING COMPANY ﹚— the first ‘gose’ episode after the news of the couple… so let’s say the members didn’t quite hold back. starting off with the ceo and the employee relationship ..

[before minji enters (on standby with the "foreign department")]

“have you guys heard the rumor?” seungcheol starts while leaning in to talk with the rest of the ‘employees’. some of them shook their head and leaned in to hear.

“supposedly the ceo and mizuki.. are dating.” seungkwan revealed it. “but that’s just a rumor..”

“isn’t that nepotism?”

“hyung.. that’s when your born into the company..”

minji’s reaction, while on standby, was just her eye-rolling at what they were doing. though as soon as minghao, jun, and vernon started walking towards the rest of the ‘employees’, she followed them.

[staff chwe hansol, doi mizuki, wen junhui, xu minghao come to work]

“oh! good morning mizuki!” seungkwan smiled as he spoke as if he wasn’t talking about her a second ago.

“good morning seungkwan, how’s the research going?”

“research about what…?” minji smiled about his inital confusion and began her snarky comment.

“about my relationship with the ce-”

[ceo yoon jeonghan comes to work]

though she was cut off by jeonghan’s entrance, she just closed her mouth and stayed quiet. after embarking in the classic “content is power!” “sleep when you’re dead!” chants, the day went pretty eventful. not much was spoken about the ongoing question at hand but that was until jeonghan stirred the pot.

“let’s see who hasn’t spoken in a while.” jeonghan scanned the room to which he laid eyes on her scribbling down doodles. “ah, mizuki.. why don’t you share what’s on your notepad?”

seungcheol, who was across from her, snickered then later shook due to the ‘coldness’. minji smiled, stood up, and cleared her throat. “well, it says i’ll like to go home.”

[not taking her job seriously.. pure silence]

“great! everyone clap!” jeonghan replied after a few seconds of silence and everyone had followed through.

“what a guy.. only excusing her just because they’re dating..”

“this has to be corruption..”

﹙ THE TRUMAN SHOW OF MR. SVT’S WE LIVE ALONE ﹚— placed into a small room was seungcheol, minji, jeonghan, wonwoo, and seokmin. they were all commentating and watching the “everyday life” of mr. svt, mingyu. soon enough minji’s turn would begin as the new “mr. svt”.

[a good morning for the new mr. svt]

with an airpod in one ear, she knew it wouldn’t end well, especially with that devil in that room as well. the female made her way towards the kitchen to figure out a small snack. although she had eaten prior to the shoot, she thought of her members first.

“make some beef and noodles, minji-ah” seungcheol’s voice spoke within the airpod. minji, in order to pretend she didn’t hear it, thought about what to make for lunch.

“hmm.. beef and noodles seem good right now. i should start making some before my time is gone.”

[4th wall breaker]

as she began getting the ingredients, she paid no attention to the conversation in her ear. though on the other side, the members were complimenting her cooking skills.

“wah, i know it’s going to taste good. who’s next after her?” mingyu asked the question that was lingering in everyone’s mind.

“s.coups is next so he’ll be eating whatever is left..” jeonghan replied as he sighed.

minji, who didn’t want to disappoint her boyfriend, started to placed more beef into the frying pan. she smiled and spoke out loud: “i’ll make more meat for hannie and the rest.”

[thoughtful girlfriend and member]

“oooh~~” seokmin pushed jeonghan slightly at the words that came from her mouth. “don’t pretend to be coy!”

jeonghan became silent for a while, looking down and smiling.

﹙ CHRISTMAS IN AUGUST II ﹚— the episode loaded into with jeonghan in the middle of the set, using his food coupon. minji walked in with the rest of the members and managed to stand behind him. placing her arms around him, she whispered in his ear and to which he nodded. circling in the spaghetti with his utensils, he raised it up to her mouth and the female gladly to the bite.

[special privileges]

“wow.. you give her some but it’s the end of the world if you give us any bite huh?” dino spoke as he looked in disbelief.

“yah, she asked me politely. what type of man am i to deny her?”

minji just smiled and listened to the chaos she created. after the rules were explained once again, christmas in august had already begun (even if it wasn't even august 😞). she had small knowledge of horror games and the female would only play them with friends or family. considering this was a one time thing, minji didn’t mind at all. choosing the room that was the least scary led her to be in the room with seokmin, who immediately embraced her.

[a motherly aura enters]

“minji-noona~~ i’m so glad we’re together.” seokmin says as she sits down beside him.

“i was so scared, i didn’t want to choose a room that was all alone.” minji replies as she looks around the dark and empty room. in-front of them laid the gaming computer and she knew it wasn’t going to be an easy game.

after a while, the door opened once again and this time jeonghan entered. both seokmin and minji sighed in relief.

“a-yo, a-yo” jeonghan said as he broke up the silence within the room.

“i’m relieved you’re here” seokmin spoke as he motioned him to sit down.

[not lonely]

“i’m a spy”

“don’t lie” minji warned, she had enough of his shenanigans already.

“okay~~”

“just sit down and be quiet”

[jeonghan joins room 4]

after making jeonghan stay, they all waited for the next member to arrive.

“s.coups?” seokmin question as he saw a figure walk in.

“it’s s.coups? what is this?” jeonghan spoke as him and seokmin grabbed s.coups by the shoulders leading him towards the chairs.

[a full room: three ‘95s, and one ‘98]

“yay~~ it’s coups!! we’ll definitely beat whatever game we’re going to get” minji replied as she got up and hugged him.

“this is why i didn’t want to come.. to where you, seokmin, and jeonghan were” seungcheol finally spoke as he leaned away from the affections.

[sensitive eardrums]

minji pouted in response and got off of him, “you’re no fun at all.”

after the complaints, the group managed to make it throughout the game with barely any problems. although minji had barely touched the mouse and keyboard, she still managed to give in her in-put of where to go. though all that carats could see was her hiding behind jeonghan during the more graphic and intense scenes.

you bake?? he thinks that’s pretty cool!

and it makes him so indescribably touched whenever you gift him some things that you’ve baked yourself before he has to go on duty, like in the mornings before he has to patrol, or in the afternoons and evenings when the day’s work is done and over with

it’s something tasty to munch on (bonus points because it’s made by you!) and a snack that’s easy to bring around with him

(the other silvermane guards don’t fail to notice every time they see him walking around with some little baked treat in hand, and a tiny smile on his face)

gepard hasn’t really tried cooking, baking, etc, but it’s been something that he’s been interested in learning for a while

once tried his hand at baking because he wanted to give you something back — cupcakes should be simple enough? he tried his best, he really did!! it didn’t turn out as well as he’d hoped, but he tried to decorate them as pretty as possible for you

in the end, he made little smiley faces on the cupcakes. they’re a bit wonky, but he’s got the spirit

he got really embarrassed when he eventually gave them to you since they felt sub-par, especially compared to the things that you can make. sheepishly, he suggested that maybe the two of you could have dates where you can bake together, so that he can learn from you..? if you’re fine with that, of course..!

it always brightens her day every time you drop by her store and gift her a pastry! the food itself is definitely delicious, but the thing that really makes her happy is the fact that she’s seeing you <3

serval actually likes your baking a lot, and she’d probably try to bribe you in order to get you to make some more for her lmaoo

“hey, i really liked those biscuits you gave me the other day — do you have any more of them?? aw.. c’mon, i’ll play you a free song if you make me some moreee.... haha, i know i already do that anyways, but..”

her favourites are the types that are good to eat on the go, just something easy to grab while she does something else. since she’s usually spending her time tinkering with different sorts of mechanical contraptions or random instruments in her workshop, it’s convenient to have something either bite-sized or easy to finish while she works

super interested in your hobby!! she’d really like while you bake, probably trying to join in at the most fun parts like making (and testing) the icing

march also becomes your (self proclaimed) unofficial photographer for when the food’s all ready to eat! right after it comes out of the oven, she’ll be taking so many photos at different angles and making sure the lighting looks good — so that even though she can’t preserve the taste of the things you’ve baked, she’ll remember how delicious they looked!

as well as using the photos to show off how good her amazing s/o is at baking LMAO

I'm so excited about the new series!

I saw someone who wrote down what they would like to see in it and I was all like: I wanna do that too!🤩

So here it is, feel free to comment your own ideas if you want to! 😇

Finally having decent canon ships: Like TMNT 2012 tried and failed so hard. I swear Ramona was the only non disastrous one. Honestly I loved Leorai until someone decided to blow up the sweet home Alabama bomb right in the fans face. 🤯The rest of the ships were scandalous. And ROTTMNT didn’t even dare to try and give us ships.😑 Like if I really want, then I might pressure my imagination to see some Kendratello or April+Raph, but nothing is canon. I think this time we deserve some shipper food people! ( So far it goes well, I kinda like the awkward crush Leo has on April. It feels real. Also I am looking forward to some Rasey.😏)

Canon LGBTQ+ turtles (or at least one): Come on people, this is the 21th century it’s good d*mn time for some queer turtles.🏳️‍🌈 I mean ROTTMNT kinda gave us some gay Leo hints ( I swear if that guy is not gay then gay people are not even real😂), but nothing confirmed. Also what do you think which turtle should be queer? I personally vote for Raph or Donnie.😏

Cynthia Ultron being really evil: Like please let her be an actual threat!😈

Serious villains: Please, no more goofy villains like in Rise! 🥺There can be some, but I firmly believe that the mainly unserious bad guys caused ROTTMNT’s downfall. 😭No way it wouldn’t get a season 3, if the series would start off with something like the Shredder fight or the movie. (And truth to be told, I nearly dropped the show at the beginning, because it felt like it was aimed for a way younger audience with all that goofiness.)

Mutant Racism: This is the first time the turtles are out in public, they go to school and stuff. But even though they are accepted everything can’t be peachy, right? I want the tasty conflict of not all humans accepting them. Like, it would be illogical that there not a single rick b*tch in school that is disgusted by reptiles, or a bully that just found a too good reason now, to bully . Or are some kids straight up afraid of them? There must be people that are still unsure if this is not the ““ alien’s” master plan to take over the world.” ( Although that won’t go peachy, cause you try and pick a fight with ninja turtles.)

Donnie being the biggest weeb of cartoon history: That’s self explanatory, also I wanna see him on a BTS concert. ( Boy deserves it!😇)

Purple Dragons are a High School Tech club: I just fell in love with the concept in ROTTMNT and because it would fit nicely into the new series in my opinion. ( since I guess we're gonna be in school a lot.)

Loads and loads of fighting in school: The boys deserve an audience.😂 Also I wanna see how the principal is gonna react to turtles destroying the school.😱

New human friends: They are bound to have some since they are going to school, right?

911 Spoilers Season 3: You’ve been warned. 😅 Buddie Rewatch

Episode 8-9

Episode 8: Malfunction

Ice Rink Disaster: Eddie calmly searching, while buck is like a baby dear, unable to stay up on ice. Eddie and Buck on finding finger duty. They find all the fingers. Buck finds 3, and Eddie found 1.

We learn about Bobby’s ice-skating past. The entire 118 finding this new information amusing. Eddie judging Bobby and stating he thought he was more into hockey. Bobby taking the comment and throwing it back. Bobby walks away as everyone is left visibly confused. Chim has my favorite facial reaction. Hen a close second.

Eddie and Buck are standing near each other with the same confused look. The height difference is prominent. Buck suggesting the google photos later, Eddie just nodding his head in agreement.

Buck almost slips on the ice again, but catches himself. Eddie rolls his eyes at Buck’s clumsiness.

Eddie is in the middle of another fight. He’s fighting against someone arguably twice his size. He’s focused, not holding back, letting out all his anger. He is getting paid for the fight, wants more of these fights. Passively mentions Lena gave him the advise that he needed an outlet. The promotor reminding him he’s not invisible, rules apply to him too.

Buck is pulling something out of his jeep when Eddie pulls in with a brand-new pick-up truck. Buck walks towards Eddie to ask if the truck is a rental. Eddie admits to impulse buying because his last truck the AC went out. Buck is the one to point out it was an impulse buy. Eddie tries to use Chris as an excuse.

Buck has a light banter about Eddie needing more shifts in the future to make payments. Eddie changing the subject to ask what Buck is carrying. They playfully run into the fire house.

Scene cuts to Bobby’s morning brief. Buck and Eddie are standing so close together. Practically shoulder to shoulder, with smirks on their faces. Buck bites his lip and Eddie moves out of the way, loudly singing to catch everyone’s attention as he pulls out a life-size cut out of young Bobby as an ice skater.

Buck being extra silly admits he’s the one that got the photo from his old partner. Eddie standing there all proud, makes fun of Bobby’s hair. Hen appears late from dropping Denny off at school, at this moment you can see how proud Eddie is with his hands on his hips and his head bopping up and down and Buck looking towards his direction and back at Hen. They really love their little prank.

Athena cooks dinner for the 118. Eddie and Buck sit next to each other as they eat. Bobby stops Buck from adding salt to Athena's salt. Eddie practically begging Athena cook more for them. Buck trying to stay neutral and says he likes both Athena's and Bobby's food equally.

Self Driving Car; Eddie and Buck are working together to move debris and move the victims.

Maddie, Chimney, and Buck are hanging out at Buck's place. They are talking about how weird Hen is being. Buck points out that he thinks Eddie is also being weird. Maddie points out how quickly information spreads in the 118. Chimney asking Buck for further clarification on why he think Eddie is being weird. Maddie turning towards them with an annoyed look.

If I wanted to be real delusional I would say Maddie turned around at the mention of Eddies name because she has been a Buddie shipper from day one. That is not what happened, but the way the clip is edited, it is so easy to pretend.

Eddie is fighting again. He's throwing elaborate punches and kicks. Really doing damage on his opponent. He kicks the guy in the face. The man has a seizure and isn't breathing. Eddie calls 911 and everyone attempts to flee the scene. Eddie leaves his opponent sat up and airways clear giving him the best chances when help arrives.

Lena's station is the one to respond to the call. She is the one to make the connection that someone helped the victim and gave him the best odds. She knew almost instantly that Eddie was involved.

She finds Eddie and confronts him about if he was the one that saved the man or the one that almost killed him. Eddie admits too being both. Eddie looks tired, upset, and annoyed at the entire situation.

She hands Eddie her firefighter jacket, Eddie confused by this, she explains its’s to give him a cover, to keep him out of jail, so that she doesn’t have to bail him out.

Lena is now interrogating Eddie outside. Asking him if how long he’s been fighting. Eddie says he’s been fighting a lot because it pays good money. Lena sees thru that bullshit and knows that the thing that was suppose to be an outlet, has become a very unsafe obsession. Eddie does not want to listen to Lena’s concerns. He’s very dismissive.

Eddie walks into the fire house, Bobby calls him up for a meeting. He sees Lena walking down the stairs and is pissed off at her because he thinks she snitched.

Lena puts him in his place and establishes they are not friends, because Eddie is too one sided.

Eddie and Bobby have a one on one, discussing how this fighting thing is about wanting control. Bobby discloses that Lena came over to defend Eddie, Eddie feels guilty for fighting with her. The conversation leads to how Shannon asked for a divorce and Eddie is still angry with her. He is trying to fight off the tears, but ends up crying in front of Bobby.

Piss Robot: Buck is the one to connect that the robot must have freaked out because the victim peed on it. Eddie judging the victim for peeing on the robot.

So, looking closely at the scene, it seems like Eddie wasn’t there for most of the filming. There is a random stand by that is obviously suppose to be Eddie in a few shots. A lot of the shots Eddie is he is completely by himself. This is the explanation as to why we do not see a lot of Buck and Eddie team work like we would normally have. I will say if it wasn’t for this rewatch I would have never noticed this discrepancy.

Hen’s Ambulance accident; This scene is so hard to watch. Hen makes me feel every emotion of despair, guilt, and sadness she is feeling.

Buck and Eddie are standing near each other restocking the engine, when they hear Chimney on the radio announce they just got into an accident.

I don't know how I didn't notice this before but Eddie is also not really in this scene either, they have another stand by and a lot of solo shots. So there really isn’t much to break down outside of the fact that everyone in the 118, is sympathetic towards what Hen is processing and going thru. Hen on the ground being held by Athena, really broke me.

Episode 9: Fall out

Meteorite: Buck and Eddie walk in the building together. Buck is the one to find the meteorite and wants to grab it, but is chastised by Bobby and Chim.

Buck knowing about the one other time a person has ever been hit with a meteorite and letting the victim know she’s special. The victim is confused as to why Buck knows this information. Eddie being the one to explain that Buck has become a little obsessed with natural disasters ever since the tsunami. Buck chuckling after Eddie’s explanation.

We meet the departments therapist Frank, who has sessions with Hen, Maddie, and Eddie.

Eddie discussing how in moments he should be happy and should be proud, he doesn’t necessarily feel those emotions. Frank telling him there is no right way to process trauma.

Eddie making it a point to say that he does not want to be in therapy, He would much rather be at home with Chris, but that he is there because he doesn’t want Chris to turn out like him. Eddie was at the verge of tears when talking about how Chris felt the need to hide his pain, to make Eddie feel good. Eddie never wants Chris to feel like he has to do that ever again.

Eddie vocalizing how he almost killed a man.

Buck is asking Bobby when they should expect to hear some news on Hen’s investigation.

Eddie mentioning running into Hen on his way to Franks. That she seemed okay, but was sad.

Buck asking Eddie how therapy with Frank is going and how he himself hasn’t seen Frank in a while.

Eddie not looking a Buck as he says the therapy is going well, but that they aren’t really clicking. Chim offering Rosemary, the therapist he saw after the stabbing. Buck chiming in to ask if that is the therapist he slept with. Bobby quick to say no, that therapist was fired.

Eddie judging Buck for sleeping with his therapist. Buck trying to be nonchalant about the situations, saying he was going thru a phase, turning the conversation back on Eddie and asking him wasn’t he just going thru a phase. Eddie becoming uncomfortable and shifting in his seat.

So in this moment, I don’t blame Eddie or Chimney for making jokes and judging Buck for sleeping with the therapist. They obviously do not know the full extent of what happened, and would likely have reacted differently if they had known. Bobby is the only one in that room to fully understand what happened and how that situation was wrong. Buck himself has not even processed that moment other than he was Buck the player and addicted to sex. He never even thinks to blame the therapist.

Really wish the writers approached this differently, but I was happy to hear she was fired.

Eddie talks about the drama in his household when his sisters were applying to college. Buck not remembering what he wrote for his college paper. Chim making fun of him and implying Maddie wrote it for him.

Maddie telling Josh, how he doesn’t want to experience Buck singing Eye of the Tiger while doing one arm pushups. I on the other hand would love to see this.

Buck telling Maddie she is a bad ass for preforming a finger thoracostomy. He tries to comfort and reassure Maddie.

Eddie and Christopher are at Buck’s place. They seem to have just finished dinner and are cleaning about while talking about what happened to Maddie. Eddie is lowkey a little dressed up with a button up shirt.

Buck takes the lesson Maddie learned about not being able to help someone who does want to be helped and applies it to what is happened with Eddie. Eddie catching on quickly to what buck is suggesting and tells him to not go there. The entire tone of this scene starts to shift.

Buck is apologizing for not being there for not being there for Chris or Eddie. How he was so selfish for focusing on the lawsuit. Eddie is quick to tell him that they’ve moved passed that. Buck telling him that he hasn’t. How he should have been there. Buck is moving closer towards Eddie. Eddie stays pressed against the counter watching Buck as he speaks.

Eddie and Buck having a light banter about how Buck could have talked some sense into Eddie and stopped him from buying a new truck and Eddie correcting Buck by telling him he would have suggested a more expensive truck.

Eddie telling Buck that he doesn’t have to beat himself up over the past. Buck in a semi flirty tone says “Why because you would rather do it.” Eddie sightly confused by his comment. Buck states that he knows Eddie is not being honest at the moment. That if therapy wasn’t for Eddie, but the ring was. That Eddie must have wanted to punch Buck.

Eddie stating, he wouldn’t punch Buck because he’s on blood thinners. Buck laughing and getting closer to Eddie and stating “Want to go for the title?” The scene cuts to Buck and Eddie playing a video game with Chris in the middle.

The writers where evil for this scene. This scene should have ended with Buck and Eddie making out. They obviously wanted to. I’m going to say that the only reason they didn’t kiss is because Chris was in the other room. There is no heterosexual explanation for this scene. It was gay!

Radioactive Truck: Eddie and buck checking on the driver. They are trying get him unpinned. The driver becoming conscious and telling the about the Cobalt 60. Bobby sending Eddie and Buck out of the tunnel.

Buck and Eddie are outside of the tunnel wondering where the nitrogen is. Buck wanting to go back in but receiving orders from Bobby to stay out. Buck being the first one with the nitrogen hose and Eddie right behind him running in to fight the flames.

Eddie approaching Buck and Chimney to say the coast is clear and the fall out will be minimal, Chim pointing out that maybe not for all of them. They all look towards Bobby as he’s being decontaminated.

Hen narrating about pain and how things don’t work out how you plan. Eddie looking at a photo of Chris and Shannon.

The 118 giving Hen a big hug for her welcome back. Eddie and Buck being the most vocal in this hug, They hug again before the alarms go off.

ok soooooo a whole essay about NOS4a2 and why he matters to me sm as a f/o ever

k so, starting off.

what makes him special design wise?

first of all, his whole design is sharp and edgy(literally.lotta edges). each end is pointy and sharp . lotta triangles used in his design. but despite that there's something interesting about how he has a cape (something usually made out of soft fabrics) as a cover, but even so the sharpness REMAINS. something else is how he has like two different eyes, which one of them is a monocle which is slay idk lol. also something else is how he's not like- he doesnt look strong physically at first sight even tho he's trully capable of being so . also fangs; LITERAL energy vampire, it's so cool as a concept.

ok personality wise:

most of the times he's on scene, it's always this very classic "muahahaha evil" kinda deal, he's silly af. geniunely enjoying it . he keeps on making stupid unfunny jokes all the time and he laughs at his own stupid jokes lol. idk i think it's cute and sillly waaaaaaaaaaaaa

BUT! he's capabe of being TRULY TERRIFYING (like half the robotic gore in BLOSC is caused by him lol, also his plan in ROTM was dark af)

it's even more interesting cuz his motivations are simply, yes being in charge as a SECOND need. the FIRST need is mainly to feed on robots. SENTIENT ROBOTS. LIKE HE D O E S WANT TO FEEL THE THRILL OF THE KILL. HE COULD JUST DRAIN from lifeless machines, but he'd rather HUNT and play with his food, if you will.

it's just very interesting.

now, SPECIFICALLY WHY do I like Nos and why is he so important to me?

so in general i was/still am a villain apologist ok? i always loved villains, no matter how evil they were. it sortz felt really comforting. but something about Nos specifically felt very special . possibly the fact that the first episode i watched in general was Revenge of the monsters (aka the climax of his character in everyway) .so basically my first impression was based on seeing him in his best if u know what i mean . like if it was any other episode things would've gone differently but that's not the case as you see. like ROTM is like this whole bigger climax yk? say, if it was another episode there's a high chance zurg could've been my fav character but boy he literally ran like a coward in ROTM so i just didnt care much cuz he wasnt in the ep as much as NOS.

like yea in an alternate reality it could've been Zurg but NUH UH . Nos it is.

also the fact that ROTM is like, as i said, sorta sums up his whole character in a great way . so when I watch that episode i IMMEDIATLY got attached especially when my introduction to the series is this. both his ultimate downfall and like .. the top of his character arc . like, INSTANT attachement.

another thing to note is how like … the whole episodes sorta focused on his turning every Z to an N .

ok here i might start explaining things a bit too personally here but ok it's an essay . ok so the circumstances of me watching the show for the first time were…something.

see i didn't have much friends back then as a kid. even the ones i had were pretty much SO different and can't understand me cuz im that shy, weird kid who goes on info dumping about my interests it might get annoying. but nobody understood those interests except ONE friend. whom just left and idk where he is till now. another thing to add, being the weird kid sorta let people exclude me and/or bully me soooo yeah .

so my putting that into prespective with the whole Ns all over the place thing in that specific episode sort of.. made me relate ya know? feel like it's specifically an episode for me . there was something nice and comforting about it.

the fact that it's the first letter of my name (which at the time was a big deal cuz all my favs didnt specifically put that fact into like, part of the story like Nos if u get me.) like, something about a villain i KNOW has the first same letter in their name as me, being all goofy yet menacing, also a vampire of sort -i am obsessed since day one idk) just felt right.

last part of this might sound silly or stupid but like . another reason WHY i felt this connection to Nos specifically till now :

people i know irl did NOT know what blosc was.

even the few who knew, don't remember it or specifically know who Nos was when i asked them.

so it's like "damn. all this epic character being so obscure and unknown despite everything they did?…sounds like me "

so until i went online and find more blosc mutuals (and till i went to Uni where people know it somewhat and still take show suggestions seriously from me) it just felt like this one character was specificaly made for me . like, this one character nobody knows except me . cuz i'm just as unknown and as unnoticed irl .

conclusion:

and to this day that still stands . Nos is still one of the turning points in my life in general. be it in art , in social life , or in general anyways. still my favourite fictional character of all time . my Top 1 fav and my main comfort character along Antasma and Zira for similar reasons.

I'VE BEEN SHIPPING THEM FOR MORE THAN 5 YEARS AND I HAVEN'T SEEN ANYONE ELSE SHIP THEM UNTIL NOW.

SO uh, here's 15 headcanons

1. They express their affection through touch and actions.

2. Fang is much quieter around Knuckles as he's comfortable with him.

3. Despite them growing up in drastically different environments they have a lot in common and can recognise familiar patterns in each other's responses to stressful situations and emotional baggage, especially self doubt.

4. They both like to ramble about their interests for a very long time and don't feel the need to hide it from each other.

5. Knuckles sends Fang pictures of bugs that he finds just to see him geek out and spam the chat for half an hour.

6. Fang's the brain and Knuckles is the brawn, but they can swap roles if the situation needs it. Fang is smaller and is more agile while Knuckles is way stronger and has powers (which Fang lacks).

7. They're very protective of each other and don't tolerate anyone bad-mouthing someone they care about.

8. Knuckles is somehow one of the only people who can eat Fang's spicy food, he actually likes it.

9. Fang is a hybrid and Knuckles is the last echidna so they're both one of a kind.

10. They both like puns, but Fang is usually the one to make them.

11. Not a headcanon, but them playing uno somehow became my go to thing whenever I need them to do something in the background.

12. Their voices compliment each other really well and they'd make a great singing duo (Knuckles has a deeper voice).

13. They both hate cold weather and will cuddle for warmth.

14. Thanks to Eggman Knuckles can drive and it was initially a shock to Fang.

Why don’t you like Maiko? I was tempted to ask this because if you didn’t know already, it’s Maiko week. I ship Maiko. I’ve seen more hate for Maiko than love for it and I’ve never really understood why. I get liking Zutara, it’s a really dynamic ship, but liking Zutara doesn’t mean you have to hate Maiko. I hope this doesn’t come off as rude, I’m just curious about your reasons for disliking Maiko.

Hi! Your ask isn’t rude at all!

(I really hope this doesn’t end up visible to Ma.iko shippers, especially during Ma.iko week, that would just be awful. Even with correct tagging, it can still sometimes come up, so if it does, I’m so sorry for that! Please ignore if it does.)

My reasons for disliking Ma.iko are very long, so be warned.

1. Their backstory was not convincing.

Although we were shown Mai having a crush on him as a child, we were never shown that Zuko actually reciprocated those feelings. I did not take him knocking the burning apple off of her head as proof that he liked her back. If they wanted to set up their relationship, they could have had Zuko mention her during his banishment. A simple line of how much he missed Mai would have done the trick. I also was very put off by how Mai smiled at the prospect of literally hunting Zuko down. So basically, their backstory didn’t do it for me.

2. I did not like the way that they got together.

Zuko was anxious about returning back home, to the father that burned him in the face, and whom had abused him for years. He needed to be comforted in that moment. And I know many say that Mai was genuinely trying to cheer him up in her own way, but Zuko clearly didn’t like it, and she noticed it. So instead of really comforting him after, by asking him to elaborate on his worries and listening to him, she put her hands on him and kissed him when he clearly did not look like he was in the mood for that. Then she left him to sulk alone on the deck of the ship. So that immediately turned me off their relationship, but I was still willing to see if it would get better later.

3. Their interactions in the Beach Episode made me lose all patience with their relationship.

Zuko was on edge the entire day because he was anxious about the possibility that his father may find out that the avatar was still alive and punish Zuko. So Zuko was trying to distract himself with Mai, his girlfriend. When he got her a shell, she rejected it with, “Why would I want that?” And Zuko responded with, “Don’t girls like stuff like this?” And Mai replied, “Maybe stupid girls.” Like, it’s fine if she didn’t like it, but she should have at least appreciated the fact that he was trying to connect with her. Zuko had severe self esteem issues because of his father’s abuse, and he was just trying to please her.

Then, at the party, Zuko was jealous of Rion Jian, and yes, it was irrational, at first. But then, Mai and Zuko were sitting next to each other and clearly not connecting. Mai had her arms crossed and her back turned to Zuko. She then ordered him to get her food. And yes, it was an order. “So, find me some food.” Not, “Hey, could you get me some food, please?” Zuko went to do this for her, but when he returned, he found her engaged in a conversation with the very same guy that Zuko was jealous of. Mai almost looked like she was smiling. Her body language was open, and she looked like she was enjoying the conversation. She may not have actually been flirting with him, but to Zuko, it clearly looked like Mai enjoyed talking to that guy more than to Zuko, you know, her boyfriend. Yes, Zuko’s reaction was way over the top and totally out of line. But it was clearly a build up of the entire day of Mai not connecting with him. Seeing Mai speaking so easily with the other guy probably made Zuko feel so inadequate. Then Mai rightfully broke up with Zuko when he yelled at her and she watched as Zuko left the party. Their issues were not resolved after they got back together. Them deciding to burn down Chan’s house was negative. Zuko figured out why he was so angry, but that didn’t really fix their relationship problems. Mai was still apathetic and hated the world, while Zuko was emotional and did care about the world.

4. Their nightmares and daydreams interactions were not good.

Many Ma.iko shippers use their interactions there to defend their ship. They say, “Look at how happy Zuko looks with her!” Yes, he was smiling. But that wasn’t the real Zuko. Zuko was showing off for her. He was playing the role of the perfect son of Ozai. He was ordering fruit tarts for her and Mai was pleased with the “perks” of royalty. The Zuko that Mai was pleased with was the Zuko who was the worst version of himself. That was a regression from what Zuko learned at the beach. Zuko was angry because deep down he knew that he made the wrong decision in Ba Sing Se. So Zuko was basically ignoring all of that in Nightmares and Daydreams. He was trying to be the perfect prince. Then when Zuko was upset about not being invited to the war meeting, Mai tried to cheer him up by having them order around servants. That’s where their huge disconnect is shown. Mai sees no problem with ordering them around in order to have fun. In her view, they’re just peasants, and she’s a noblewoman. But Zuko doesn’t have that view anymore, not after his experiences in the Earth Kingdom. Zuko can never be what she wants him to be. Zuko wants to make the world a better place, to help the same type of people (peasants) that Mai thinks it’s fun to order around for entertainment.

Therefore, they do not have the same morals. In that same episode I believe they are also implied to have had sex, and Zuko is turned away from her and doesn’t look happy about it. Then after Zuko attends the war meeting, he tells her that it went well, and she tells him, “That’s wonderful.” I can tell that Mai is really trying to help him, but she just couldn’t because she didn’t actually understand him. Zuko later told her that “That wasn’t me.” We didn’t see her response, but I’m guessing that it was negative. Mai wouldn’t want Zuko to be dissatisfied with his life as a prince, because that would mean him eventually pulling away from her. And given by how he broke up with her through a letter, I’d say that belief is likely to be correct. In my view, the Zuko Mai loved was the worst version of himself. Therefore, it was not the real Zuko.

5. Zuko did not trust her.

Although he claimed that he broke up with her over a letter because he couldn’t “drag her into it” it was clearly because he was afraid of what her reaction would be. Mai never showed any signs of being against what the Fire Nation was doing. Towards the end of their relationship, she seemed perfectly happy with being the girlfriend of the Crown Prince of the Fire Nation, and was completely blindsided by Zuko breaking up with her. So I think Zuko thought that Mai would try to stop him from leaving, and given how proficient she is with knife throwing, I’d say she may have very well succeeded in pinning him to a wall. I can even picture her saying, “I’m stopping you from being stupid, Zuko.” Their relationship also had no depth. They did not connect on a deep emotional level. It mainly consisted of raging teenage hormones and physical attraction.

6. I did not like their interactions at the Boiling Rock.

Although I understood Mai being upset at Zuko breaking up with her over a letter, there were bigger things at stake there than their relationship. Zuko was literally committing treason, and the only thing that Mai cared about was Zuko breaking up with her. When he said, “Stop, this isn’t about you, this is about the Fire Nation!” She made it all about her again by saying, “Thanks Zuko that makes me feel all better.” Then he told her that he was doing what he was doing to save his country and she told him she was betraying it. That’s when I really lost all patience with Mai as a character. Like, Zuko was doing the right thing by trying to stop his father from wiping out the entire Earth Kingdom, and Mai still thought that he was in the wrong. Not to mention the fact that Mai wanted Zuko to stay loyal to the Fire Nation and by extension to Ozai, the man who literally abused him and burned his face. Then we were not shown Mai’s reaction to Zuko further explaining his reasons for turning against the Fire Nation, and the next shot of them was Mai literally frowning at Zuko, insinuating that she still did not agree with his reasons. Then Zuko literally locked her inside of the cell and left her again.

7. Mai saving Zuko at the Boiling Rock was not a true redemption.

There was never one scene of Mai agreeing with Zuko’s beliefs that the Fire Nation was in the wrong. The last we saw of them, Zuko was locking her in a cell. If she had agreed with him, he wouldn’t have had to do that. And when the gaurds asked Mai what she was doing, she said, “Saving the jerk who dumped me” those were her choice of words. She clearly still viewed Zuko as a jerk for breaking up with her, for prioritizing saving the world from his evil father over his relationship with her. So with all this in mind, I think it makes sense to conclude that Mai’s views on the war never really changed. She only saved Zuko because she still loved him.

8. I’m not convinced that Zuko loves her at all.

Zuko did not mention Mai even once after she seemingly sacrificed herself to save him. He had to have known Mai would either end up dead or at best, in prison, for committing treason. But he still never showed any worry for her fate. Then in the next episode, he literally focused all of his energy on winning the forgiveness and trust of another girl, Katara, and literally helped her infiltrate a Fire Nation stronghold to help her avenge her mother. He could have at least tried to find out if Mai was alive and if she was, to help free her from prison. We all know Zuko is super stealthy and adept at breaking into places, but he never even tried. So sorry, Zuko’s interactions with Katara were so much more impactful and intense than those with Mai, the girl he supposedly loves romantically. Honestly, Mai deserves better. I’ve never liked her character, but she deserves a boyfriend/girlfriend that truly loves her, because Zuko wasn’t it. Ty Lee honestly showed more devotion to and love for Mai than Zuko ever did tbh.

9. Their reunion scene made no sense to me.

Zuko wasn’t even the one to get her out of prison there, it was her uncle. As Fire Lord, he would have been able to get her out, but he didn’t. The guy even looked surprised to see her. It’s like he completely forgot about her. Then Mai just assumed they were back together. “When the Fire Lord is your boyfriend” I was just so confused by that. Then she said “Never break up with me again” some people insist that was an innocent joke, but I don’t see it that way. If it had been a male Mai telling a female Zuko that, I think no one would be okay with it. The fact that she told him that, even jokingly, also proved that she never really understood why Zuko did what he did. She was still angry at him for breaking up with her even though he had a good reason for it, you know, to stop his father from burning the Earth Kingdom.

So those are my reasons. There were just too many negatives that I couldn’t ignore in their relationship. Mai as a character also just always rubbed me the wrong way. But I think it’s a shame, because she had the potential to become a compelling character. Instead, the writers had her character revolve around Zuko. She switched sides for Zuko. Not because of her own realizations about the war being wrong. And her supposedly ending up with Zuko isn’t good for her either, because she was trapped and stifled growing up as an aristocrat, and she clearly resented her father’s political career. Mai needed to branch out on her own and have adventures. She needed to figure out who she was separate from Zuko and Azula. As Zuko’s partner, she’d always have to deal with politics. And Zuko needs someone by his side who truly cares about the world and wants to make it a better place, and that just isn’t Mai. She cares for some people, obviously, but not for the fate of the entire world.

Sorry, this got really long, but I wanted to be thorough on why I dislike it. I hope it wasn’t upsetting to you, as a Ma.iko shipper, to read such a harsh critique of the ship, but I was trying to answer your question as detailed and as honestly as possible. Many other anti ma.ikos believe many of the same things I do. You may be able to overlook all these reasons and ship ma.iko, or maybe you have a different interpretation, but many of us don’t, which is why we don’t like it.

There are certainly some multi shippers that like both Zutara and Ma.iko, but unfortunately I’m not one of them. I just think that Mai and Zuko are fundamentally incompatible, and both want different things from life. On the contrast, I think that Zuko and Katara would be very compatible. They both have compassion for the lower classes, and want to make the world a better place. So those are my reasons.
