Bubbles - He/They Bubbles here is a comfort sona of mine where I can draw cute fluffy stuff and not worry about accidentally throwing angst in their face lmao They are meant to be kind of fun and childish to bring out that side of me since I don't draw it much. Li Ming is so painfully aware of how much he doesn't fit in. Not with his mom so now he lives with his uncle. Not with his uncle with them fighting all the time. Not with his friends when he has to go back home and work at the diner. Not with his friends when they discuss their plans after graduation. Certainly not with his friends when they discuss dates they want to go on and girls they find cute. Not with the work and study program he aims towards, not with his poor English skills. Not with the one friend he has somehow made in the middle of all this - although that one gets close.

In the middle of all of this, where you can see his physical discomfort at standing out and a yearning desire to fit in somewhere, he still makes an active effort to stand out with his bright red watch worn on his right hand while everyone around him wears theirs on their left.

Given the opportunity to fit in somewhere, he chose to stand out. All Li Ming wants is to fit in while being himself. All he wants is to feel like people around him would accept him.

Ok, so listen. Ian's whole schtick is that he cast spells with his hands, right? That makes me believe that he's gotta have an insane amount of dexterity and control over his fingers, given all the poses he's making on a daily basis, right? So, my thinking is that his skills with his hands translates into a bunch of other skills.

For example, let's say one day he's saving a family, but when he asks the young girl if she's alright, she just gives him a confused look and points at her ears. She's deaf. But it bugs him when he gets home, because he can hardly help his community if he can't communicate with a good chunk of them, right? So, in his spare time, he starts reading up on ASL online so he can make sure everyone is alright. It's not good at first (one person laughed when he accidentally signed 'are you a mushroom?' instead of 'are you okay?'), but he keeps at it because it's something important to him. And one day, when he's finished off some demon or other and he's going around checking on everyone, he comes across that same deaf girl. This time, not only can he check up on her, but he can also hold a whole conversation with her. And that makes him feel like just a little bit of a better hero for it.

Another time, he's feeling stressed and needs a way to work it off. The house he lives in has a piano upstairs, apparently going unused for almost 100 years. His first attempts are clunky, missing notes and sometimes playing in the wrong key, but he works at it like he does everything else, relentlessly and earnestly. Little by little, he gets better, and the janky, disconnected first tries soon turn into passably smooth renditions. His Beethoven improves by a country mile while his Tchaikovsky goes a little slower, and his Liszt remains mediocre at best. But the real challenge comes when he tries to write his own piece. It takes him years to actually get round to writing it, always struggling to find the best source of inspiration to base it on, never knowing the right subject on which to compose it. But one day, when he’s not long into his thirties, the epiphany of a lifetime hits him in the face: make it about himself. And so, over the course of a few more years, he tells the story of his life, of the young boy broken and reforged into a magician on par with gods. It has everything, from soaring highs to crushing lows, tense and frantic chords to represent his darkest hours coupled with the sweetest melodies to show just how much he loves Paul. It ends, after almost eight and a half minutes, with a slow and happy repeating set of notes, the comfort and peace he finally achieved after so much pain and hardship. He calls it ‘Ian’s Path’.

like....most of 2x01. him recruiting sam, helping artie try join the football team (even though it ends in him getting kicked off), all of it is just so earnest to me. it's sad to hear him admit that without being the quarterback, he's nothing, but i think it's a fascinating glimpse into finn's head and how he sees himself/his self-worth

what he says to kurt at barole's wedding + just the way you are! it's such a sweet gesture and i love that he admits, in front of everyone, that he hasn't shown up for kurt like he should've and vows to change. and him asking kurt to dance is just so.... :') like we know finn struggles with dancing, we know it's hard for him, so the fact that this boy planned to do this with the other kids for kurt is just. it makes me emotional every time i think about it

all of 2x11. all of it. one of my favorite finn episodes and one of my favorite episodes in general. everything is a total mess and mckinley and i love watching him really step into a leadership role and pull everything together by the end. what he says to quinn always hits me hard, and i just.... i love him in this ep

his commitment to help puck in 3x18. puck and finn's friendship was kinda... a Mess throughout high school and i love him setting all that aside to show up for puck and promise he won't get left behind. like these boys are really sitting in school at 3am to help puck and finn set all of that into motion and i just. i love him

him giving unique rizzo. that was one of his best moments, imo. going from being an asshole to kurt bc he couldn't understand why he would just want to be himself, to..... accepting unique, validating her, and promising to protect her from any potential backlash @ her being rizzo, without even missing a beat is just....i love it so much

imagine being someone at new rome university and not knowing percy is the same guy as “percy jackson, son of poseidon, two-time hero of olympus, former praetor” because the thought doesn’t even cross your mind. like… he’s percy. he’s a total frat boy. on a normal night, he walks into a party, refers to everyone as bro or dude, socializes with every living (and not-living) person in the room, makes at least 50 sarcastic comments, plays 12 rounds of beer pong, drinks way too much, and then skates around campus on his skateboard yelling “I LOVE NEW YORK” (which makes no sense, because they’re in california) until someone calls his girlfriend to come get him.

and then one day there’s an attack, and frat boy percy is all of a sudden a fighting machine. he’s yelling battle cries alongside the praetors frank zhang and hazel levesque as they lead everyone into battle. (why is he with the praetors? and why…. why in the world do the praetors seem to be following his lead?) his sword slashes through armies of monsters faster than you’ve ever seen. he’s controlling the entire river surrounding the camp, creating huge waves as tall as skyscrapers that crash down all around him, wiping out monsters and causing mass destruction to his enemies’ ranks. the sky is suddenly dark above you, ice-cold water droplets are slashing through the air, and the wind is blowing so aggressively that it’s making it hard to stand up steadily. because he’s somehow created a hurricane.

and he looks terrifying. you can feel the power radiating off of him. he’s like a god. or maybe a monster. it’s hard to tell. you’re a little scared of him, to be honest. but also in total awe, because it’s extraordinary. he’s extraordinary.
