*chaotic electric guitar riff* my punk Vani gremlin is finally done! Worked on this one for uh uh *counts fingers* um a while lol. 

I had some help from a few friends brainstorming this sketch idea and we came up with this. I drew a few thumbnail variations of the ideas and one of the favs was outfit 2 (which is my personal fav along with outfit 3 and 5 hehe). Overall I had a lot of fun drawing these out and it felt great to finally draw Vanitas again.

The hardest part of designing a character: what color should the optics be?

Now oh no no no it's not as easy as just "hmm, should i choose red or yellow?" First, I've gotta consult my mind on the general vibe of the optics (currently, my brain is campaigning for a darker reddish orange sclera with large nigh white pupils fpr thos character). Then, I've gotta fiddle with the color picker for an hour or two to get juuuuust the right shade. Then I've gotta check it over again when I'm finished because often that's when i decide "hmm... actually wait try [color] instead"

thank fucking christ purple was The daytrippers color because i am trying to make some reds and blues right now for another poll and oh my god the scale from red's perspective makes no fucking sense WHY does it take so much more adjustment to show a difference in the blue direction than the green direction from 100% red

ffs i finished my coordinate calculator, let it give me a 3d plot of the points, and realized that my OTHER spherical coordinate thing rotates the atoms along some axis. which makes sense, because an operation that goes along a straight plane in cartesian coords will describe a curved path in spherical coords, but its still unexpected.

#tütensuppe #also something is off with the angles i have to check that again #the next step will be even worse these points form an irregular grid in 3d space with the energy surface defined over it #and i have to translate it to an evenly spaced grid. #because i need gradients for the surface and these gradients depend on 3d space coordinates not whatever nonsense spacing #the initial calculation uses. #the reaction damage math i did yesterday is honestly preferable to this
