you know, when i was a kid, i remember every adult being very strict about how bonfire night was the 5th of november. you set off your fireworks, you put your catherine wheel on your fence, and you set fire to your flammable recreations of guy fawkes on the 5th of november, no sooner, no later.
but apparently its actually a free-for-all. bonfire night seems to be any day within a fortnight of the 5th of november. who knows, maybe jim no.1 told his man to search parliaments cellars on a different day but no one wrote the date down so its all just a vague guess.
and yes, this is mostly a vent post about it, but for the past week, people have been setting off fireworks every day and as early as 6pm and can you please stop scaring our dog? thats the main point of this post honestly.
Just a little picture of Thomas, Liora (Lady), and Percy during Bonfire night - a UK holiday revolving around bonfires and fireworks every 5th November.
One of my favourite Bonfire night treats is the Toffee (candy) Apple. So I had Percy bring his sister one (they are twins in my AU) while she's watching the fireworks with Thomas.
For some reasons I started late, but I hope to make up for it soon with even bigger surprises and better than last year.
The first drawing I drew was on the theme of Hypnotic Duck, so I drew a scene from the Darkwing Duck episode "Days of Blunder" in which Quackerjack, disguised as a psychiatrist and imitating Sigmund Freud, hypnotizes Darkwing Duck (Drake Mallard) that he is no longer a superhero, but a waiter who serves teapots. However, in the end, the opposite will happen.
The second drawing is dedicated to Vendetta Duck, since it's November 5th (though unfortunately I'm late in posting, but it's Guy Fawkes Night, only history buffs and those who know about Vendetta know about it) so I drew Vendetta with a duck mask. Or maybe it's a duck under that mask? Maybe Donald or Daffy? All in all, I drew a redraw of Vendetta with Parliament exploding with fireworks behind it, while Big Ben stands in London. By the way, Vendetta is a DC comic created in 1982 primarily by Alan Moore, David Lloyd, and Tony Weare, to be adapted into a movie in 2006 under the title "V for Vendetta". Yes, the movie and the Vendetta comics are not the same, although I enjoyed that movie where he fights against a totalitarian regime. So, happy November 5th! I hope you like these drawings and these ideas.
5th November 1605. Guy Fawkes waits in a cellar with 36 barrels of gunpowder, preparing to blow up the King. But did you know this event is still celebrated every year in the UK 400 years later? This week @duchessofostergotlands and @princesscatherinemiddleton explore the infamous Gunpowder Plot, from its royal roots to its impact on modern revolutions.

To grow up in the UK is to experience this annual advertising campaign about firework safety - clearly, the Fonz's involvement was the high water mark, but phrases like "never fool with fireworks" and "be a bright spark" obviously proved catchy, given their recurrence...
In 1605 Guy Fawkes spoke of his intention to ‘blow you Scots beggars back to your native mountains.’ Tonight Inverness torched him for approximately the 417th time.
