There's a lot to say here, so I'll start with Nigel and go on until everything is explained?? Before reading, I don't want hate or anything plz, this is what works for this AU but I pretty much can ship anyone with anyone!

Nigel and Hoagie like to work in tandem on new 2x4 tech for teen operatives to use. Hoagie has the ideas, Nigel refines them (and avoids Hoagie from making them too dangerous or unstable) and they build them together. Nigel hasn't always been one for manual work but lately he found out it helps him not to think too much. And Hoagie's more than happy to help "Big Boss" relax!

Kuki is Nigel's personal ray of sunshine (that's also why the whole school calls her that). She helps him to cheer up and see life in a different way, a more colorful and positive one. They don't even have to talk, Nigel just needs to sit next to her and plop his head on her shoulder and she knows it's time to work her magic on him! Also she somehow convinced him to have her test her "make up skills" on him. Don't ask why, that's how they roll. AND! Kuki's been in charge of taking care of Nigel's rainbow monkey plush since he left for GKND.

Because of something that happen to Wally years before (which, don't ask, none of them want to talk about it), these two are now really close. Especially Wally found a good friend he can talk to when life gets too hard on him, he knows Nigel will be more than happy to listen to him go off without judging or forcing a solution on him. Basically Nigel KNOWS the root of all of Wally's problems and understands his feelings. They don't like to show how close they are around, but if they find each other alone, it's feeling time.

They know EVERYTHING about EVERYONE around the school, no one is safe, not even professors or the principal himself. They could crush everyone in one move... but choose not too because were would the fun be? Sill best friends, if you didn't know their history you could easily mistake them for a couple. Well, they are in fact planning their wedding, been doing that for 2 years now, but it always gets delayed because one of them changes his mind about a minor detail. Do they even argue? Are they actually together?? What is going on??? Only they know.

Just a quick note: Numbuh 6 is still there and they still keep an eye on him, but he's been moved to another sector when they all turned 13. Because of his love for anime and manga, Hoagie is actually learning Japanese with her, because he thinks it would be cool to be able to watch anime without subtitles or worse, the... dub... EWW! Also they like to watch stuff together that Wally refuses to because it has romance in it, like Toradora! or even Sword Art Online.

Best friends forever. Kinda gay, but not all the way? Like IRL JD and Turk basically. They're so into anime and manga and videogames, they're NERDS but Wally usually hides it around people, Hoagie can't be bothered and you can spot him reading some manga no one even knew existed. They have a lot of inside jokes not even the others understand, especially the "chicken" one they've been keep going since they were 7. Also, they're meme masters.

How the heck are they even dating? Like, he's an OTAKU and she's the QUEEN of the school??? But it works apparently, and everyone is jealous and MAD at Hoagie because really, he's one of the LAMEST LOSERS in the school, just... how... WHY?? No one knows. But them. He makes her laugh and she keeps him with his feet on the ground. Been going for *looks at smudged note on the hand* 7 YEARS????

A ray of sunshine and the prince of darkness. Happiness and rage, rainbow and clouds, colorful and black. They seem like opposite worlds colliding, but the whole school knows they're dating now. Took a bit of time tbh, it has its ups and downs, but they look happy together, so, what else could they want? 2 years down, their whole life to go.

They have the love for make-up and fashion in common. Kuki likes to test her make-up skills on Abby, who's more than willing to let her go for it because she's actually good! They like to hang out at the mall, sometimes they drag Nigel with them for reasons (the boy needs some good clothes).

If Nigel's the one Wally can go to without expecting judging or answers, Abby's the one who can give Wally a solution for a problem he has. She loves the boy, wants all the best for him, it's just that sometimes... he's... really something to work with. Actually turns out these two are the best ones to put on a mission together. They know how to work things out.

So here's my take on if the countries were Gaming YouTubers/Twitch Streamers I Guess you could call this part of the Human AU?

Alfred (America): War games and first person shooters. His fans are mostly men, but also has a hefty following of teen girls and Young adult women who are obsessed with him (Think Markiplier and Jackspeticeye). Uses a face cam and talks more about his personal life than the actual game he’s playing also SCREAMS, but that’s what people like about him that they know so much about him. He attends a lot of cons you either love him or hate him no in between. Has a LOT of brand deals and is the face of an energy drink.

Matthew (Canada): He plays a lot of Nintendo games full playthroughs. His most popular is his Animal Crossing one that’s up to over 400 parts he uploads almost twice a week. Couldn’t be more different than his brothers channel. He just uses a mic and comments really softly over his chill game play just about what he needs to do and what he’s doing next. occasionally he’ll get really excited like when he catches an new fish he’s been looking for. It’s something you’d sit down and binge watch with a cup of tea on a really cold or rainy day. If he and America a streaming at the same time you can hear muffled screams from the other room that he’ll apologize for.

Arthur (England): Only reviews games. But he doesn’t show you him playing the game, like a week after it comes out he’ll make a 20 minute video on why he hated or liked the game and rate it on a 10 point scale. He’s not nice about it either. He rarely likes any game and claims that when he was a kid everything was better. He tends to like Indie games rather that AAA titles.

Francis (France): Only plays bad games. Goes through the lowest rated games on steam and plays them. He always beats them no matter how odd or unplayable they are.

Yao (China): Basically he just plays bootlegged games and really obscure games. Like: Barbie games(Has played all of them), Weird 90's learning PC games and bootlegged Mario where you play as Pikachu instead of Mario and none of the buttons work. If he plays newer games they are so modded that you can hardly tell what it was before. Sometimes he’ll have to pause because he’s laughing so hard. People quote him all the time around the internet.

Ivan (Russia): Mostly plays nostalgia games from the past like Super Mario World and Donkey Kong Country. But occasionally he'll play a RPG like fall out or Skyrim. He’ll talk about himself like while he plays but he tells you super embarrassing and funny story’s from when he was a kid.

Ludwig (Germany): Does not have a channel of his own…

Gilbert (Prussia): He makes his younger brother who’s terrible at games play games and doesn’t tell him what it’s about or what to do and he just watched him get angrier and angrier. Sometimes he’ll play with him too and just beat him so hard that you’re sure he’ll never get him to play again but he’s back again next week. He’ll release stuff that he does by himself during the week but it’s usually just him playing random games. Lately Germany has bee getting better at games so they’ve been releasing them playing FIFA together and it’s pretty popular.

Kiku (Japan): Speed runner. He beat games so fast that he goes to competitions. He also does playthroughs of Japanese RPG games. He’s also a competitive Mario Kart and Smash bros. player. He has a face cam during his videos but hardly ever says a word because he’s concentrating

Feliciano & Romano (North&South Italy): They play horror games. Neither of them are good at video games and are afraid of everything so it’s good fun to watch them lose their shit on their face cam. They got popular by playing Five Nights when it first came out and now people send them all the horror games they can to play. They stick with it and end up beating it but it’s a hell of a ride.

^^^ these two spells are examples of how I work magic lately, which I do in this manner because I am lazy and I just want to chill with my spirit buddies and also I like magic that works good every time and is easy.

so we will see that these spells have some similarities like:

Find a natural power that exists in the world

Ask it for help

Pay it for help

Or of course if you do not want to work in a spirit-working praxis we would call that shit like

Find a naturally patterned energy vibration

Charge it with your intent

Keep its battery fueled

I wish I posted lots of spells, I think it would be fun, but it would literally just me being over and over again "ok now here is how you petition the spirit/program your intent :3"

anyway idk I feel like every single time I answer a spell request it's like "find something that does that and ask it for help"

and while my sorcerous praxis does get quite detailed and involved and is intensely intertwined with my spirituality and stuff like that,

I mean, that's

(oh By The Way if you're new to sorcery I extremely and highly recommend just getting to know like 5 allies [stones/plants/animals/trees/etc] really really well and learn all the things they can do and build a relationship with them and your mind will mayhaps be blown by how expansive and multifaceted something as simple as a kitchen herb can be and how powerful and beautiful your relationship can become)

Hiii Tumblr I haven’t posted in forever hahaha

Anyways, I will be posting more now, but here’s a long rant of sorts.

I’ve been actively keeping up with a lot of new shows lately, (a first for me since I usually get overwhelmed) and one of those shows is Hazbin Hotel. I really love the show so far, the songs, the characters, and the animation is amazing. Don’t get me wrong, the show has its flaws, but so does every show.

However on thing that greatly greatly frustrates me is the fact that I feel like I’ve barely spend any time with the characters and we are already at the climax. I really wish we got filler episodes, and just fun goofy stuff that didn’t exactly have big plot moments but we learned more about the characters. It also would have been cool to have hints of big plot moments sprinkled in these episodes, clues for us to try and figure out.

It’s been basically six months in the shows timeline and for us it’s been a little over two weeks. I know a show’s timeline will often move faster than ours, BUT TWO WEEKS TO THEIR SIX MONTH WHAT

I am in no way blaming the cast, the crew, and anyone who worked on the show, it’s clear that there is so so much love being put into this project. That actually makes me more upset because I know they would’ve loved to do more episodes!

I wish streaming services would give shows like Hazbin more time. I know they want to see if a show can "prove itself" and don't want to waste money, but come on. Eight twenty minute episodes.

Lord, I'm just frustrated.

Thanks! And sorry this is like a week late- I got busy lmao.

Anyways! Wee fun mac hc time!!

Joe: Mac and Joe hanging out would be 1 of 2 options. Either they're going to a small bookstore and then a coffee shop just to chill n read. Or Mac is dragging Joe to his friend's house so they can all watch scurry movies with his goth buds. No in between and both enjoy both options equally.

Kaiser: Field trip. Literally, that's it. Kaiser would treat Mac like one of his students and take him to a museum or something. Mind you, it isn't a BORING museum- probably something sports related if anything- but it's not exactly what Mac pictured when he asked to hang out. They also get pizza and ice cream for lunch :)

Disco: Hanging out at Disco's place and just playing. They spend most of the time being silly with instruments and then wind down with some Mario party or something.

Hippo: Mac would end up learning a new language OR they'd end up playing with all of Hippo's hot wheels. Hippo is a big linguistics guy and Mac likes to listen to people talk so Mac would just end up sitting quietly the whole time while Hippo infodumps stuff at him. Hippo would also feed him and let him play with the hot wheels in his house if he's careful.

Hondo: They'd make cosplays and watch anime together! Mac's a p observant guy so he'd pick up on Hondo's sewing machine, ask about it, and they'd end up building some Naruto stuff from spare fabric from there. Lotsa fun!! They'd also go to a bunch of sushi restruants and try all they're stuff- til they're sick at least lol.

Bear: Hiking and magic animal adventures the whole way! Mac's a city kid through and through so the woods freak him out a bit- good thing Bear and his animal friends are there to ease his fears! Mac also ends up learning a lot about the ecosystem and plant life around where Bear lives so bonus points for cool learning stuff.

Tiger: Tiger would probably bore Mac with trying to teach him chess at first before switching to showing him how he makes his music. He'd also convince the boy to watch mlp with him and they'd just binge it until Doc calls asking where his boy is. Tiger would probably accidentally teach Mac poker. Whoops.

Don: Don would take him to a street fair or a market and IMMEDIATELY lose him. He'd spend the next 5 hours trying to hunt him down and end up finding him less than a foot of where he last saw him. After that, hand-holding is mandatory. They'd also get gelato together and watch Carmen do her clown shtick (Don won't shut up about how wonderful she is lol)!

Aran: Aran would treat him like one of his younger siblings and keep a hard eye on him. He'd take mac to an age and sensory appropriate place, so probably an art fair or a festival that he can easily escape if he needs to. He also makes sure Mac is fed a hearty meal, drinks water, and has as much fun as possible. No way in hell is he gonna get caught being an irresponsible adult when they're together. He's also teach Mac an artsy thing or two (Basic painting, welding, sculpting, etc.)

Soda: Soda would definitely be an irresponsible adult around Mac and overfill him with fun things. They'd go to a big ass amusement or water park together, eat nothing but soda and sugar, and they'd fuck around until they're left overstimulated and sick. Doc and/or Bull has to come and pick them up.

Bull: Inside activities ONLY. No way is Bull going out. But they end up having fun with puzzles and making friendship bracelets. They play Mario kart and then some more chill games and get pizza too!

Macho: Swimming all day for sure. Mac doesn't know how to swim so Macho ends up having to teach him the basics but they have fun either way. And after they're all done and sunburnt, they go inside and play halo and drink capri sun until Doc picks Mac up.

Sandy: Another responsible adult! He wouldn't have much of a plan per se, so him and Mac would end up goofing off in random parts of whatever city they're in- going to parks, the zoo, a museum, whatever until they're tuckered out.

could you post some work in progress stages of you're drawings and paintings? i am trying to improve my art and i like you're style but i don't really know how to get there. and many tutorials are for digital art only or there very anime style so it dos not very help in what i want to draw :(

starting is really tough, i get you, and yes, i finding the tutorial for a style that you want to work in is often a struggle, but often you can apply the general rules to any style!

the most important thing is to not stop drawing! just keep going, a little bit every day/every few days and you WILL see the improvement! its super frustrating when you dont get the results you want immediately, i know that - ive been doing this for so many years now and i still produce pics that i dont like, where im disappointed in myself. but you cant let this drag you down too much, because everytime you fuck something up you learn something, too! you know then that this thing doesnt work - in a way failures are actually way more helpful. (still sucks a lot...)

as for wips: i found a few photos i took of two recent paintings; i dont know if it will help you, though. generally i just do some outlines roughly, then clean them up and then just...fill it either with paints or pencil. i dont do the whole grid method or assisting lines thing or something like that. before i start the proper drawing i often make a small quick sketch to know where everything has to go (see: first pic; youll notice its mirrored - i decided to change the entire orientation last second; i kinda wish i kept it, but its too late now) and then i just...idk? put it on the paper in a way that would make every art teacher cringe in pain (i know that, because it happened multiple times).

as for water colours its the basic rules: start with the bright parts and then go darker; make sure to use good paper, let the stuff dry before going for a new layer etc. add fine details/highlights at the end,

if you have any specific questions dont hesitate to ask, ill try to help! if you can afford it i recommend going to a proper class of an artist in your area, that can be lots of fun and really helpful. in 1st grade i was for a few weeks in a free weekly thing of a local artist and she introduced me to oil paints and taught me to just let GO sometimes of the perfectionism and the control of paints (yes, even tiny 5-6 year old me was already a control freak). the things she taught me are still with me.

Hey everyone! It’s been a while since I last talked about The Player’s Fate and my progress on it, so I decided to tell you guys what I’ve been doing lately (And you can probably tell what it is lol).

So, my current plan for TPF is making one whole season with around 6-9 Eps. I’ve already planned some things for the 1st season, but I am still not fully satisfied with a few things, like the lack of development in a few characters and the exploration of Chara’s “mysterious power”. So far I’ve already written 3 episodes, and I gotta say I am pretty satisfied with how they turned out! I had a lot of fun writing the scenes and dialogues, especially Chara and Asriel’s because they are a very comic duo and their dynamic is pretty adorable (I guess you guys will like them as much as I do).

But the only Episode that I’m 100% satisfied with is Ep 1, because it works perfectly as a first episode to introduce this crazy world of The Player’s Fate (specially the first and last scenes, but I’m not spoiling that!). I actually wrote a much shorter version of it originally but I decided to increase the world building and explore the region of New Home, a place that we barely spend time in the original Undertale and I thought of an interesting new approach to the region.

I know you guys must be very confused with some things that I’m saying! lol “Development?” “World building?” You may ask… But these are simply a few writing tips I learned to help increase the writing of TPF. But it is still important to remember that I am just an amatour, I don’t actually know how to write a perfect script of anything like that, but I am trying to make the best one I can with my basic knowledge.

Still, I am very confident with TPF’s 1st Ep, but you might be wondering why I haven’t begun making it yet, and I have a very special announcement to make… The Player’s Fate will have voice acting. Yes! I know! Crazy, right?! XD

I want TPF to have voice acting since I think it helps transmit the emotions of the characters and make intense moments being way more intense than if they were just by texts on a screen. I know it’s much simpler to add a text on a screen, but honestly I couldn’t find a good way of adding these texts to the screen without it covering too much of it, and when I usually plan a shot to animate I imagine it without any texts on it, so when I have to add the text it takes out the original emotion I wanted to show. And I also think voice acting and lip sync can help make the characters more alive and make you connect with them much easier.

I know I probably made you guys excited for the result, and I gotta say I also am, but I haven’t decided who I’ll be working with to create TPF, and also I will be paying these voice actors so I have to find a way of raising enough money to do so… I have a very long way to go before actually making the 1st Ep, but I know it will all be worth it in the end!

One last thing I wanted to say is that I think the 1st Ep will come out next year (2024) or the beginning of 2025. I know it’s hard to wait so much but I need to focus on my Youtube channel in the meantime, since the series will be posted there and I want as many people as possible to watch it (and also because I’ve been pretty inactive there in 2023 and I want to get back on track for that). It will be a bit difficult, since (if everything goes right) I’ll be dealing with college next year which will make my schedule very tight to work on TPF.

And I also plan on making a special video talking about everything I can about this project, like the series premise, the themes, the voice acting stuff, and a lot more, since I don’t think I’ve ever talked very openly about it. I want to do all this so more people can know about TPF and become interested in it. I know it may seem kinda dumb but TPF is one of the most important projects of my life, and I want it to work and be the best thing I can produce even being an amatour on the area.

Oi pessoal! Já faz um tempo desde a última vez que eu falei sobre The Player’s Fate e meu progresso nele, então decidi contar pra vocês o que tenho feito ultimamente (e vocês provavelmente devem saber o que é ksksk).

Então, meu plano atual pra TPF é fazer uma temporada inteira com cerca de 6 a 9 Eps. Já planejei algumas coisas para a 1ª temporada, mas ainda não tô totalmente satisfeita com algumas coisas, como a falta de desenvolvimento em alguns personagens e a exploração do “poder misterioso” do Chara. Até agora eu já escrevi 3 episódios e devo dizer que estou bastante satisfeito com o resultado deles! Eu me diverti muito escrevendo as cenas e os diálogos, especialmente os do Chara e do Asriel porque eles são uma dupla muito cômica e a dinâmica deles é muito fofa (acho que vocês vão gostar deles tanto quanto eu).

Mas o único Episódio que estou 100% satisfeita é o Ep 1, porque funciona perfeitamente como um primeiro episódio para introduzir esse mundo louco de The Player's Fate (principalmente na primeira e última cenas, mas não vou spoilar agora!) . Na verdade, eu originalmente escrevi uma versão muito mais curta, mas decidi aumentar a construção de mundo e explorar a região de New Home, um lugar onde que mal passamos tempo no Undertale original e eu pensei em uma nova abordagem interessante pra região.

Eu sei que vocês devem estar muito confusos com algumas coisas que tô falando! ksksk “Desenvolvimento?” “Construção de mundo?” Vocês devem estar se perguntando… Mas essas são apenas algumas dicas de roteiro que eu aprendi para ajudar a melhorar o roteiro de TPF. Mas ainda é importante lembrar que sou apenas uma amadora, e que eu na verdade não sei escrever um roteiro perfeito assim, mas eu tô tentando fazer o melhor que posso com meu conhecimento básico.

Mesmo assim, eu tô muito confiante com o 1º Ep de TPF, mas vocês devem estar se perguntando por que ainda não comecei, e tenho um anúncio muito especial a fazer… The Player’s Fate terá dublagem. Sim! Eu sei! Loucura, né?! XD

Eu quero que TPF tenha dublagem porque eu acho que ela ajuda a transmitir as emoções dos personagens e faz com que os momentos intensos sejam muito mais intensos do que se fossem apenas com textos numa tela. Eu sei que é muito mais simples adicionar um texto em uma tela, mas honestamente eu não encontrei uma boa maneira de adicionar esses textos na tela sem cobrir muito, e quando costumo planejar uma cena pra animar eu imagino sem nenhum texto, então quando eu tenho que adicionar o texto ele tira toda a emoção original que eu queria mostrar. E também acho que a dublagem e o lip sync podem ajudar a tornar os personagens mais vivos e fazer com que você se conecte com eles com muito mais facilidade.

Eu sei que provavelmente deixei vocês animados com o resultado, e devo dizer que também tô, mas eu ainda não decidi com quem eu vou trabalhar para criar TPF, e eu também vou pagar esses dubladores, então tenho que encontrar uma maneira de arrecadar dinheiro suficiente pra isso… Eu tenho um longo caminho antes de realmente começar a fazer o 1º Ep, mas sei que no final tudo vai valer a pena!

Uma última coisa que queria dizer é que acho que o 1º Ep vai sair ano que vem (2024) ou no início de 2025. Eu sei que é difícil esperar tanto, mas preciso focar no meu canal do Youtube enquanto isso, já que a série vai ser postada lá e quero que o maior número de pessoas possível assista (e também porque eu tive bastante inativa em 2023 e quero voltar com tudo agora). Vai ser um pouco difícil, já que (se tudo der certo) eu vou estar lidando com a faculdade ano que vem, o que vai deixar minha agenda bem apertada para trabalhar em TPF.

Eu também pretendo fazer um vídeo especial falando tudo o que puder sobre esse projeto, como a premissa da série, os temas, as dublagens e muito mais, já que acho que nunca falei muito abertamente sobre isso. Quero fazer tudo isto para que mais pessoas conheçam TPF e se interessem nele. Eu sei que pode parecer meio bobo mas o TPF é um dos projetos mais importantes da minha vida, e quero que dê certo e seja a melhor coisa que posso produzir mesmo sendo uma amadora na área.

Let’s go ahead and do Grogu + Child development for season 3 episode 3 because I honestly don’t have a lot of commentary since Grogu’s screentime is minimal.

(I will say I am still VERY curious still what Pershing was doing with Grogu specifically. We know he was harvesting blood but what about DNA? He talks about cloning - is the 101 Yoditos AU still a possibility??? Will we have an army of Grogru clones????? Let me dream!!)

Right off the bat we see Grogu once again making sure Dad is okay. You know, Din, it’s not healthy for your child to see you in danger so often, it’s gotta give him anxiety. (Great tv for us, though.) He’s patting Dad a bit, perhaps he remembers Cara looking after Din when they were trapped in the cantina in Redemption? He definitely knows Dad would never want the helmet off. (I loved the “wtf???” look he gave Bo & Friends in The Heiress when they took theirs off.) Even after he’s in the pod, he’s still watching Dad, seeming concerned.

I wonder if we’re going to see more of his ability to connect with the living Force? We know now he “connected” with Luke somehow during the Scotty Beam Me Up rock meditation sequence, and we saw him connect with and calm the rancor. Does Grogu sense the mythosaur at all? Will he be the one to ride the mighty beast? We know there’s a Jedi out there who specializes in animal connection - I know I complain about excessive cameos a lot but I wouldn’t be as mad if it was Ezra Bridger, who I actually really like, come to teach Grogu some more Force stuff. But this is all speculative and I digress.

Of course the big question is once again whether Grogu spoke. Did he say “This is the Way”? I think he intended to. These new sounds are different than the stock baby sounds and even the classic patu. I think Grogu is more purposefully trying to speak and imitate Basic! This shows a huge leap in observational and cognitive skills. We’ve already seen him put together that sounds can be communication and he can use them to get his needs met. Now he’s at the next step, trying to speak so that he can communicate with people on their level! It’s honestly a really huge step because a late learner has to want it on some level. If they don’t care, they don’t get it. (Had a student years ago, not a native English speaker and didn’t care about learning English or understanding us, until we put snowflake window clings up and she finally learned to speak just to ask us if she could have them, because she loved Elsa. Before that she didn’t give a shit no matter what we tried to do to engage her.)

Side note but I am SO glad Grogu can close his new pod too. It’s good he recognizes an unsafe situation and does it himself without being asked. He really is paying attention to details so much and reacting quickly! (Or maybe he’s just like, “there’s no way this lady will let me sit in her lap and have fun” and/or “there’s no way she’s as good a driver as dad” and just did it for that reason lol.) I bet he wasn’t happy about having to do a whole trip away from Dad, ugh. Think Bo spent that whole time putting Din on speaker because Grogu wouldn’t stop whining unless she did? She’s still mostly an unknown to him, though she was pretty nice to him last episode, so he might’ve tried to test her.

For the end scene he’s pretty much just a quiet observer. Writing-wise, he’s not really relevant to the scene, but I also think he’s picked up from Din that the Armorer is someone to be respectful of and listen to, and once again is imitating his primary caretaker. Maybe next time we’ll get to see the other Mandos and Mando kids interacting with and playing with him? Or Din and Paz get in a fight and Paz is very surprised when he’s thrown across the room lol? If Grogu is officially a Mando now, I think it’d be fun to get to know his tribe members!

I always want to draw but I have no idea how to work Krita or my tablet fr. It makes me discouraged and that stalls me into not even starting. (I’m talking basic stuff like line curving/straightening/etc) how did you start getting into digital art and how do you stay motivated?

I used to watch a lot of digital artists on Youtube that would do art in mspaint (this was like...early 2010s or late 2000s so we didn't have fancy stuff yet) and speedpaint videos as well as things people would animate using windows movie maker like fanime and early animation memes so I eventually decided "I WANT TO DO THAT"

Technically my first art program was Kid Pix because at the time, I had no idea Mspaint was already predownloaded on the computer. And then I discovered mspaint. I had no tablet at the time so I used a mouse for everything. I started off with bases and recoloring anime caps like Soul Eater until I started to get a hang of drawing from scratch with my mouse.

And then I moved on to Gimp because it was a free program that had layers. Still used my mouse for earlier art. Some point around middle school I got my first tablet that had some version of photoshop already on it. I eventually got enough money to use clip and things escalated to now where I have a screen tablet and still am using clip.

The biggest thing that kept me motivated through the constant transitioning from one art program to another from a mouse to a tablet was just having things in my head I was hyped to eventually learn to draw and the things I knew I could draw. There was also some added fun in just learning what new things each program could do.

For me, art is just a constant journey of bettering your skills. So it's important know that perfection is basically nonexistence in art because every artist is still sharpening their skills. Once I realized everyone that creates stuff is still learning even if they are big name artists, it really helped put into perspective the importance of just being happy to draw in general.

One big thing that I think is super underrated is just opening a blank canvas and going hog wild on it like scribbling and doodling shapes without the goal of creating something pretty. I've found it's very nice for my brain to just make complete chicken scratch.

vash/meryl (trigun): i watched this for the first time this year (@bbunbbi's excitement about it got me!), both the 98 anime and stampede! going in knowing a friend really likes two characters together is always influential, but there's something really special about these two - vash with his outward personality and inward baggage? meryl who thinks he's one thing and learns he's another and stays with him through thick and thin? good stuff!

kogami/akane (psycho pass): it's been EONS since i last watched this but i've been reminiscing with friends recently! iirc i watched the first two seasons of the anime and the first movie, and the highlight for me was always these two...akane the bright-eyed new inspector, kogami who used to be in her position but is now basically like, a dog on her leash? the way he's like, steady, willing, and calm to be just that? the way akane grows through real experience and is a bit hardened, but still stays herself...they go through a lot side-by-side and i think about them fondly!!

frederick/robin (fire emblem: awakening): lol okay piggy-backing on cotton's answer but!! i could name HEAPS of fire emblem ships i love, but these two have really been on my mind lately! frederick the wary will always have my heart lol but the way, re: robin, he goes from distrust to falling in love...but robin is actually (unknowingly) exactly what he was afraid of at the start?? there's romance there's humour there's tragedy....read cotton's work lol and you'll know what i'm talkin about!!!

Alright Katsukame headcannons, here we go (this is gonna be scattered and all over the place because I don’t have any of these written down, this is just what I can remember)

He takes in dogs from fighting rings that have been injured and thrown out, because their owner was a dick to the dog in front of Rikiya, or because they were a dick to Rikiya and he wants to steal the dog to teach them a lesson (and give the dog a good home)

Most of the time he ends up Rehabilitating the dogs and finding them new homes, though he has a few he thinks are too fragile, disabled or traumatised to go else where that he begged Overhaul to let him keep (they have to sleep outside in their own little shed and they’re not allowed in the same room as kai, even then, he’s only allowed to keep them because Kai has somewhat of a soft spot for rikiya)

Because of this he also has a lot of experience in training dogs, because before he realised it’s basically impossible to get a job in Japan if you have/had Yakuza ties, or have been in it, he wanted to be a professional dog trainer and took a ton of courses to learn everything.

Despite all that, his favourite animals are actually foxes and silver back gorillas.

The reasoning for the gorillas is because kids in school used to make fun of him and call him one, so he decided to basically give them a giant ‘fuck you’, researched gorillas a ton, and now they’re one of his favourites and being called one is more of a compliment than anything. That was his one single act of rebellion agains the other kids. The foxes is because he thinks they look like really pretty dogs (and also because he’s not about to fuck around with a Kitsune and be cursed for a thousand years)

Leading on from that last bit, he’s a little bit superstitious. Not hugely, but if something looks incredibly obviously cursed or mythical, he’s not gonna touch it with a 10 foot pole. He knows that the random creaks or rustles at 3am are probably just animals outside, or Rappa doing some late night training, and the foot steps running up and down the halls on a floor that doesn’t exist in the compound, are just weird echos of Setsuno and Tabe being idiots in the middle of the night, but that dog he’s never seen before that’s been sat at the garden fence staring at him with eyes that look just a bit too human for a solid five minutes? There’s something up with that.

He’s partially mute, only ever saying one or two words at a time when he does speak. He carries around a notebook and pen to communicate a lot of the time. He also knows sign language, but out of the Hassaikai, only Hari, Deidoro and Overhaul know it, overhaul and Chrono having learnt it because of him, so it’s not the best form of communication because if one of those three aren’t around to translate, it’s basically useless. (Tengai is trying to learn but he’s blind in one eye and needs contacts for the other so it’s..not a good combination) (that’s another thing. I have a MASSIVE stockpile on Tengai stuff so lmk if you want those too)

Not a lot of people expect it but he can be surprisingly gentle and sensitive if he chooses to be. On the rare occasions he interacted with Eri, he’d let her sit on his back where Mimic usually does and would carry her around like that. He liked being with her because she wouldn’t question anything, like why he never took his mask off, why he didn’t speak, why he rarely interacted with anyone but Kai, Mimic and Hari. He just didn’t and the reasoning didn’t matter.

He really loves small things, which might be why him and mimic work together so often. He likes tiny things he can hold in one Hand, he likes feeling like he’s protecting something. Probably another reason he and Eri got on.

Despite the last hc, he doesn’t like mimic all that much. Well. He does…just until he starts talking. He’s always on edge when Mimic talks because he doesn’t know when/if he’s going to blow up and start yelling, it’s worse when he’s in his human form though. At that point, he’ll just leave the room. He doesn’t need that kind of stress.

No one is actually quite sure what’s going on with his mask. As far as Kai and Hari are aware, he’s not taken it off around anyone else since he got it his early teens. Kai appreciates the commitment, but is a bit concerned it isn’t washed. Hari wants to know why he never took it off.

He hated being in pictures when he was younger- and still does- (*cough cough* autism *cough*) so he’d hide his face whenever someone tried to take a picture of him, as a result, no one really remembers what he looks like under it, as all baby photos there were of him were ‘accidentally’ lost in a move.

Setsuno started a theory he’s like the Pokémon Mimikyu: he’s so horrific looking under the mask, that if anyone sees it they die instantly. Though, He’s not come up with a reason as to why overhaul and Chrono are still alive yet.

Him and Rappa have a weird relationship, they’re either best friends or trying to kill each other and there’s no middle ground. The best friend end of the spectrum usually consists of them training together, playing with Rikiya’s dogs, tormenting Tengai and overhaul, and the trying to kill each other..well..that’s about it. No one quite knows what triggers the switches in their attitudes towards each other, potentially just their general mood that day, and Tengai isn’t sure What he finds more annoying, being tormented or trying to get them to stop tormenting each other.

I think that’s all I have for now, but I’ll let you know if I think of/remember anything else.

I LOVE ALL OF THESE HEADCANONS. (Yeah, Kai really doesn't like dogs.)

Devlog #8: The Watcher

I made a new game! It's a short point-and-click game about a knight trying to make up a story at the last minute (wink wink), and it was made for the 2023 4th Wall Broken Game Jam. You can play it here, at my itch.io page. It's currently available to play in desktop browsers (HTML5) and downloadable (Windows).

This game jam had a more lenient time frame (2 months starting from January 1st), so I started with a more ambitious version of the same idea that ended up becoming The Watcher: I wanted a more action-focused game, also focused on a knight living in a kingdom with a king / god figure obsessed with storytelling. In that original vision you had a three-hit combo, a shield and a lock-on on enemies. I did this in part because I thought it would be cool, but in a bigger part because I've been feeling pressured to make more... gamey games, with more interaction other than moving around and reading text.

The control scheme was very much inspired by 3D Zelda games, and throughout January I was able to get a player controller that felt really solid and the animations flowed well between hits, shielding, running and jumping. However, then I would have to work on a couple basic enemies to fight against and all that doing so implies (enemy AI, attacking and reacting to attacks, patrol movement, a long etcetera); I was punching way above my weight and I had noticed but didn't immediately make any decisons about it (apart from thinking about dropping the whole thing and not submitting anything). Anyways, here's a quick look at the original prototype:

In early February my attention shifted towards another game jam (an in-person one that I attend yearly) and personal stuff: a professional setback that mad me feel pretty bad, I got sick, I went camping while sick and had lots of fun. By mid February The Watcher had not been developed any further, and despite being sure that there was no chance to make the action-adventure game I had originally envisioned, I didn't really have a plan yet.

I was getting bitter because of having used so much time working on a game only because I felt insecure about my style of work and not because I really wanted to, so I decided to just drop the whole thing and start (almost) from scratch: I kept the base concept, turned it into a point-and-click game with mostly fixed camera angles, and added a lot of story elements related to how I'd been feeling lately: disconformity with my work, the cost of being true to myself, negative thoughts about how some people evaluate stories, and my own future as a game developer. I was getting bitter and cynical and I really didn't want to feel like that, but as I worked on a game that I was actually liking and enjoying to work on, the feeling of hope started coming back. I worked really well considering how little time I had left, and even had time to learn some new tricks while doing so, like lightmapping and occlusion culling. I wrote a lot of new code for my ever growing collection of reusable scripts and prefabs that I'm using to save time in each project. Also, working with camera switching and specific camera angles let me set a mood for every room and space in the game which was really fun, and something I'd been wanting do to for while.

The Watcher is the most personal game I've made in quite some time, which is saying a lot considering how personal all the stuff I make usually is. This is probably the first time I've felt peace (and not just tired relief) after finishing a game, and with a bit more time I could have added more of the ideas I had for this new version and it would have been even better. I wouldn't say it's a masterpiece or anything similar, but I'm at peace with what it is and I'm glad with the reception it's been having so far! I always feel like a hack after releasing something so it's been nice to have positive feedback, especially concerning my writing which I also think is still pretty bad... but maybe it's getting better (?) :)

Anyways, here's the latest step in my gamedev journey and despite its simplicity and rushed development, I'm satisfied and also excitedly looking forward to the next step!

I think I can pretty definitively say that I'm finally out of the era of my life where I'm doing literally nothing and on the verge of killing myself everyday. My life definitely isn't perfect right now, obviously, but I think I've finally actually clawed my way far enough out of the pit that I'm not constantly feeling like I'm at risk of slipping into a depressive state again. I'm finally actually doing stuff again, I'm making a lot of progress toward moving out of my father's house as well as transing my gender, I'm not completely apathetic at all times and I've gained a lot of self-confidence, and most importantly to me, I've regained passion for a lot of stuff again, I've started doing 3D modelling again, and I'm learning new things again that I actually enjoy and feel the motivation to continue doing, and I'm actually enjoying a lot of the media I'm consuming! (Finally I can once again feel something when I watch horrible kuso-anime that has no appeal to anyone EXCEPT ME IT HAS APPEAL TO ME I LOVE GARBAGE I LOVE EATING GARBAGE YEAAAAA!!!)

Pretty much since, at least late 2020 but really the dominos started in 2019, I had been extremely depressed, a lot happened around that time that completely left pretty much every aspect of my life in ruin (surpringly not caused by the pandemic at all, although that definitely didn't help), I lost a lot of friends, most of the things I had been working toward in life were pretty much nullified, and a lot of mental health issues I had, and still have, started actually becoming major issues, it wasn't a very fun time. The worst of it was easily 2021, I'm not really gonna go in depth both because, I don't particularly want to remember the details of it more than necessary, and also because it would just be a paragraph of me talking about trying to kill myself constantly and the mental state that led me to do that, and that's not particularly fun or really even important to know the specifics of, but the one kinda good thing I guess about that year was that by the end it got so bad that in 2022 I just said fuck it and started doing a bunch of things that really should not have worked out as well as they did, but by 2023 I had a car and my driver's license, a job, and had regained some of my lost friends, and told the ones that I really didn't ever want to speak to again to [REDACTED]. 2023 was pretty much just a continuation of that, albeit with a lot more stability, almost the entire year was spent focusing on my job and getting as much money as possible as quickly as possible because I didn't really have much else to focus on and a majority of what I needed to move forward in life required a lot of money capitalismamiright. Now in 2024 I have a lot of money saved up, enough that realistically I could probably move out at any time, I'm finishing tying up the last few loose ends of like, basic adulting things that I should've done a long time ago, I have a decently large, stable group of friends, I've come out as trans to like, at least 90% of the people in my life that I plan to actually keep in my life a year from now, I'm still extremely emotionally unstable (I don't think that's going away like, ever tbh lol) but at least now it's in a way where I'm still actually getting stuff done consistently and not just turning into a pile of goo for 3 weeks out of each month, and I'm FINALLY FUCKING PASSIONATE ABOUT MAKING STUFF AGAIN WOOOOOOO LET'S FUCKING GOOOO TIME TO MAKE Bucket of Wet Slop grins.

I didnt even realize that I was in such a significantly better spot in life now until like, really recently, like really really recently, like as in like a couple days ago. The thing that made me really notice it was that I used to pretty much dread days I was off work like, I kinda don't particularly love my job, it kinda fucking sucks in a lot of ways, but also like, if I'm just at home all I was doing was rotting and like, looking at my phone waiting to get called into work anyways so it sucked either way. About a week ago I had 4 days off in a row and like, that never happens, like at all ever, probably the last time I had been off for more than 2 days continuously was like, literally long enough ago that I have no clue when, and before like, 4 days off would be like, bad, like 4 days of not making money *and* still being miserable, but like, those 4 days were great, I popped off I got so much shit done and I felt great while doing it it was so pog, and now like, work's kinda just like getting in my way of getting stuff done, like I actually have stuff I want to do now it's great! Like, I don't plan to quit my job (probably) or anything like that anytime soon but like, it feels weirdly good for my job to actually feel like a job that's sucking out my soul instead of it being the only thing keeping me from saying "off to hang myself, watch and le" because now I once again have the passion and motivation to do things that I actually want to do.

Moral of the story: life is good and capitalism sux :litwickthumbsup:

Can only tide myself over with other villainess shows til it returns. Or i read more. Dungeon meshi at least has an airing anime adaptation now which means i can see my favorite fail girl marcille in animation. I dont remember if she's getting off on penacony or not if thats been said. But penacony definitely has some characters i want. Oh okay damn i always wondered about her floating. HI HELLO its been 20 years which im SO FUCKING SORRY about...... my life has decided to just Not give me a break recently. and understandable akdfkgjksj i should really continue watching it but ah.... so busy. and Tired all the time. actually got to skip school today bc i was so sleep deprived i thought i was sick but then i slept for another 4 hours and i feel so much better now. should be studying [have 8 exams coming up until the end of february.......] but i also Need to chill for a bit. agghhh. and oh understandable!! it really is just like that sometimes. school, as i said, is. psychologically torturing me but im actually not in that much pain so yeah!! and thanks also. i hope my teachers let us catch a break soon. at least ive recently picked up baking to destress so at least im not about to become the joker. and REAL LIKE i also dont mind talking with people in public places from time to time but i usually just wanna mind my own business. and yeah its SO funny but also im surprised how nice all my classmates are about helping others. like. if we had to cooperate to create a message with my old classmates everyone would just instantly start making fun of each other for not knowing something. OOOH COOL....... when i have more time i should learn to make some spanish dishes. went to gran canaria with my mom recently and god ive missed their cuisine SO much. god yeah schools are like another dimension to me ngl. they work based on different rules then the rest of the world. AND AUUGHGH PAIN...... good luck with getting her on future reruns tho!!! same with being Totally Normal. and hey congrats on all that!!! i also ended up doing argentis quest and luckily didnt have time with fighting him thanks to clara who makes it extremely easy. generally shes always carrying me. finally got to trailblaze lvl 65 and i only have my clara team at lvl 80 rn so i should probs work on kafka etc but i hate grinding mats...... hell on earth. oh well. and yeah more or less!!! tho it also depends on the person and circumstances, as some people will get new authorities, some will kind of. get closer to their current one? and some people might even give up their herrscher authorities with time. but yeah honkai loves to retcon itself so its kinda blurry sometimes.
