What would the swk's think of our boy tang?

LMK: Complicated. Since LMK!SWK had such a student-teacher (maybe even fatherly) dynamic with his Tripitaka, it feels weird to be sitting down and chilling with someone wearing his face but none of his graces. Wukong sees Tang as a friend, and a darn good one too! It's just that... he gets wistful thinking about his old mentor...

HeroIsBack: "Liuer!?" Instantly assumes from the hair and outdated robes that Tang is an older version of Liuer, and panics thinking he missed out on seeing him grow up. After his Liuer wanders in and confirms Tang isn't him, HeroIsBack!SWK breathes a sigh of relief. Ultimately thinks Tang is lazy, but is a good person to banter with over noodles.

Reborn: "...whomst?" He knows for a fact that his Sanzang is alive and well, and that Tang lacks his master's mole + baldness, so to see someone with the Golden Cicada's soul just sitting there in this new world is a bit jarring. Thinks Tang is a lazy coward. But one who's getting better at it.

NewGods: Is really quiet. Sits down next to Tang without breaking eye contact, like he's trying to figure something out. Once Tang breaks the tension by introducing himself, NewGods!SWK takes on the vibe of an old man who thought he recognised an old friend. NewGods likes Tang's sense of humor (and in noodles), but is clearly a little sad when the scholar talks about the Monkey King's adventures and companions.

Netflix: "When did grow your hair out??" He just met his Tripitaka, so he's just getting to know him. He likes Tang though! He loves hearing the stories about himself, and he loves how chill Tang is about Netflix!SWK's more anxious habits. He hopes his Tripitaka is as cool as him...

2000sCartoon: "Hi! You smell like my Master! But you are not him! Prepare to be vanquished!" :3 Assumes by gut reaction that Tang is an imposter demon and tries whacking him with his staff. LMK!SWK has to pull him off to explain. Afterwards he treats Tang like his "back-up master" and gets confused when he gets conflicting intructions from the two of them.

Smash: "What the fck. I was only gone for like a few days!" I hc that his Tripitaka is a younger guy (Smash Legends do be having fantasy cyberpunk vibes), so the first time Smash!SWK sees Tang, he's thinking his Tripitaka (or "Trips" as he calls him) has aged rapidly. Afterwards tho, he treats Tang like a boring history teacher. Yawning and making paper airplanes mid-backstory intro and all.

Meihouwang SWK & LEM: They have no idea who the Great Monk is, but they really like Mr Tang! He tells all these cool stories about monkey heroes and friendship, and he lets them flip through his books! He'd be loved as a storyteller back on the mountain.

Dabi x GN! Reader

Summary: Dabi is depressed after witnessing the death of his significant other.

Warnings: ANGST LOTS OF ANGST, swearing, character death (reader dies), reader sometimes refers to Dabi as Touya, let me know if I missed anything!

Author's Note: I was feelin a lil angsty! Also the “~~~” lines are flashbacks if you couldn't guess.

Dabi walked into his small, old, abandoned apartment. His breathing was heavy as he slid his coat off and threw it on the floor, then he pressed his back against the door and slid down, on the ground with his back resting on the wood.

He had so many emotions flowing through him; Anxiety. Anger. Sadness..

He choked out a sob but no tears came. The scars under his eyes started to drip blood though. He let out another shaky breath as he went up to wipe the blood away onto his white tank top, the tank top that was already scorched with burn marks and dust.

The memories came washing back to him as he remembered the scenario that had just happened not even an hour ago.

You had decided to take a little stroll downtown, not expecting anything major to happen. You were excited for tonight because you were supposed to meet up with your boyfriend for a movie night!

You were walking down the street when a loud crash was heard behind you, rubble flying everywhere as screams of citizens erupted. You flung around to see the LOV and some pro hero's having a big battle. You recognized Toga and Mt. Lady fighting while Spinner and Shigaraki ganged up on Best Jeanist. You scanned around the now clearing smoke until your eyes landed on him, your boyfriend: Touya, or Dabi, as he liked his “friends” to call him, could be seen fighting with Eraser Head.

Your eyes widened as you could see Touya being flung into the air as he crashed into a window, glass shattering around him. You gasped and without thinking, rushed over to him.

“To-- D-Dabi! Are you okay?” You asked in a panicked voice as you maneuvered yourself around the glass.

He grunted and looked up at you. “Y/n, what the fck are you doing?! Get away before the hero’s see you with me,or even worse get hurt!” He hissed at you as he stood up, holding his side as he tried to nudge you away.

“B-but you're hurt!” You say, trying to move closer to him.

Dabi grunted again and glanced over to you. “Seriously, get away,” He said in a serious tone as he used his flames to propel himself up into the air back to where Aizawa was. You huffed out, looking around desperately to see a way to help him.

But you stood in that spot for 3 seconds too long.

A huge piece of rubble was flying towards you, and before you could react you got hit by it, getting pushed into the building. The impact of the rubble itself wasn't enough to hurt you to the point beyond repair, but enough to crush your leg and not allow you to move.

You cry out in pain as you feel the bone in your leg break, attempting to shove it off your leg but to no success. Only a minute had passed before you felt the ground start to shake, a loud rumbling sound could be heard from above. You look up at the ceiling, only to see it shaking and starting to crack. You cry out again in panic, trying to shove the rubble off again.

You managed to push it off and you grunted, standing on your wobbly legs as you tried to run out of the building. You heard Dabi scream out. “Y/N!!!!” You could see the fear in his eyes as he tried to propel himself towards you, but it was too late.

You hadn't reached the exit in time, nor did Dabi reach you in time. Before the whole building collapsed on you, you managed to cry out, “T-Touya..” before you got crushed by everything.

Dabi cried out, coughing as his heart was hammering in his chest and rubble surrounded the area temporarily. Once the dust and smoke had cleared, he could only see a large pile of cement and other building components.

“No no no no no no god please no.” He cried out before rushing over, moving all the rubble to try to find you.

“God dammit you can’t do this to me! P-please..” He yelled, and after what seemed like forever of digging, he gave up. He collapsed to his knees, taking shaky breaths in and out, as he looked at his scar and grime covered hands.

Dabi could hear sirens getting near and more yelling, so he shakily stood up, then just started to scream bloody mary. He didn't think that he was saying anything in particular, but other people could tell he was: “THEY DIDN'T DO ANYTHING WRONG! WHY THEM? WHY NOT ME?! AREN'T I THE ONE YOU WANT?! WHY DID THEY HAVE TO GET BROUGHT INTO THIS DAMMIT!” He screamed, before blue flames erupted from him, and he propelled himself through the air again off into the distance, no trace left of him besides the blue flames.

It had all happened so fast too. He's hoping you didn't feel that much pain while it happened…

Dabi took another shaky breath as he stood up, walking over to his bedside table and opening the drawer, and wiped the soot on his pants before picking up the selfie you took of yourself while he had photo-bombed the background. He let out another dry, choked sob as he sat on the bed, laying down on his side while he held the picture close to his chest.

“I-I need you here with me… Y/n…”

So I knew Echo'd be in this one, but I was actually also a 100% Rex would be there too, so I was a little bummed about that? like why would they release Rex's poster now if he isn't gonna be in the ep? and like ik this is a show about the batch, so they wanna show off Echo and I love that for him bc I love Echo but like,,, Rex🥺 yanno?

that being said, Echo and his team infiltrating that ship, fcking GREGOR?? amazing, loving that shit, eating it up

another suicide? this is getting intense. like this season has given us deeply seeded political issues about clone rights, depictions of blood, brainwashing and two suicides?? like??? things are heating up, the writers are getting more real and I actually kinda,,, love that even though its intense

it struck me as really odd that Crosshair didn't shoot the female doctor. like the rest of the batch and most of the clones use stun guns ALL THE TIME whereas Crosshair has always shot to kill. again, "severe and unyielding", meaning he takes intense action, committing all the way all the while being so stubborn he hardly ever backs down. honestly, him sparing her is some serious character development. he recognised she was being kind to him and he decided that that was enough reason not to hurt her. either that, or he wanted to abuse her kindness later on

he never wanted to get out, he just wanted to warn his brothers, which is AGAIN SO DIFFERENT from the Cross we've gotten to know in these last two seasons. I actually don't think that's growth anymore. that's Crosshair standing by a choice that he knew was bad for far too long (SEVERE. AND. UNYIELDING.) and now finally admitting he was wrong and going back to what he always wanted and always knew to be right.

I am BACK rambling about Peggy's character because DAMN, even Bucky of all ppl managed to fck over her character and it only took one scene.

I dislike any interpretation of Peggy as evil or even secretly a nazi, that's a no, just NO.

Cap 2 made us well aware on how deep the Hydra infiltration was in SHIELD via Fury, he trusted Pierce, he even said he would've taken a bullet for him and Pierce confidently said he knew.

Fury, while shady sometimes, is irrevocably a hero and a good spy, the same would've naturally applied to other characters such as Howard and Peggy.

That should've been end of discussion, period but of course the What If 1988 Peter Quill episode happened and just in one scene, it got fcked over.

Now I honestly don't take What If to heart but it is technically canon realities and possibilities and technically they are the same core characters but in different circumstances that just happened to make one different choice or react to what that reality throws at them so what we see in there is easy to interpolate to the MCU timeline.

And basically, just for ONE Bucky CAMEO they decided to fuck over both Peggy's and Howard's character by having Peggy not only recognize Bucky with his full mask and eye paint, something not even Steve could do, but to also recognize that they knew or there where rumors that Bucky was alive and was the winter soldier and evidently did nothing.

This all for the quickest representation of the winter soldier saga with Bucky getting out of his programming merely by hearing Steve's name when in the movie and other iterations he needed much more, he fought Steve directly and I believe in the comics Steve had to use a cosmic cube to bring his memories back.

Fck even in the same episode Bucky is shown without his mask, Marvel's writers could've easily deleted the first scene and have Peggy and Howard recognize him when he took it off.

Which also why did he take it off? He's russia's biggest secret and he just showed his face to a bunch of americans, one being their direct enemies (SHIELD).

And furthermore, that episode wasn't even about him! It was about Peter Quill and an '80s rendition of the Avengers, Bucky's Winter Soldier subplot wasn't really necessary, they just wanted a very popular character to be in there..

Did I like seeing him? Absolutely

In fact I just watched that episode because of him, I went crazy when he showed up on the trailer.

What really bothers me is that for some time I've seen criticism of other people towards Peggy's character due to Hydra's infiltration on SHIELD and how they had Bucky under their noses but for me those were easy to swat since they were theories with no substance or any evidence other than implications and even the movie provides better evidence against it but in one line, one scene, they manage to hand over just the slightest hint of it and of course you know haters are going to pull it hard.

And they could've easily solved it if they showed they recognized Bucky when he took off his mask later in the episode.

I enjoyed that episode, I did, but I don't take it seriously, there's a lot of evident inconsistencies and you can tell it's rushed.

Firstly on why Bucky was handed over so easily, again he's the russian's biggest weapon and secret, it would've made more sense for him to be sent secretly and the team crossing paths with Bucky when he inevitably tried to murder Peter and being put to light by Peter himself instead of being neatly handed over to a bunch of americans

And how he was able to neatly and quickly reset to being Bucky or some sort of Bucky just by Steve's name alone, it doesn't make sense so naturally I don't take that episode to heart much but it is technically canon and furthermore it does taint Peggy's image a little, just before she's about to be made one of the biggest stars of What If!

I know Captain Carter and Peggy Carter from that episode are different but for fcks sake they are technically the same person but different realities and they smudged her character just to have a Bucky cameo, like seriously???? REALLY?!?!?

I don't know, maybe I'm just rambling but I do feel that yet again another male character has a say on Peggy's character.

So I haven't finished the normal lessons yet and I barely started the hard right? I've been busy grinding on both games since I started OMSWD in like Feb 2023 and currently sit in lesson 30 ish normal and like haven't reach level 20 hard. And then I started the new game because I had enough knowledge to feel comfortable doing so not to mention spoilers that got me into actually downloading the original after denying to for two years.

But while doing some grinding on nightbringer, I got a text from Levi.. And like I haven't seen anyone talk about how this mf said Zoinks.

Does the show even exist in the past or relatively at all?? Because the lore is already kinda fck rn with our off brand snapchat hybrid tiktok app that is popular in the past and yet not in our present. It confuses me but not to the extent of where I actually care much.

I think my favorite think is the off brand Mauraders Map they included. You're telling me they didn't see how fcked up the HP franchise was and took the opportunity to make us a gen neutral as possible in game, even giving us a sheep as our MC representative mascot instead of plain Jane Doe and then in the second game give a big fck u to HP? Honestly it's just funny to me.

Also in the lessons I've only had one Perfect combo and I seethe with rage when I "accidentally" miss one and don't get my combo finish. Sometimes I wonder how competitive I am but then again I have this thing with certain games that if I don't get it perfect I will spend time redoing everything till I get it. The Ruri Chan battles reminds me of guitar hero and the piano tiles game. Mostly guitar hero tho because of the hard and extreme battles are hell incarcerated and gives me the rage I had when doing hard on GH.

Hypothetical Rank Ups No. 57-60: Arjuna

[Disclaimer: For posterity's sake, realistically he only needs the last two of these. Even more realistically he only needs the NP rank up to be brought up to to his competition. But three things that trigger me are "Crit star drop rate up" on an Artscher, a 1 turn buster mana burst on an Artscher, and anything having a cooldown in the double digits. Plus I'd argue even if he only needed the NP rank up, the gap between old and new servants is so wide that even with all of these he's not powercreeping any new units. I don't use Arjuna at all myself (Unless Extella counts in which case I freaking main him) so special thanks once again to @hasarjunadoneanythingwrong for help with the lore and NP stuff, and thanks to @bitterrosebrokenspear as well for also looking over the skill mechanics! ...Okay additional disclaimer cause wow I talk too much, reminder that the only important part is the indented bit. Everything else is just the rationale behind it.]

Clairvoyance (Archer) B+ -> A+

Increase own Critical Star Drop Rate (3 turns).^ Apply Debuff Immune to self (5 turns). Apply Ignore Target Focus for yourself (6 turns) Apply Sure Hit when attacking with Arts Cards (6 turns) [Star Drop scaling increased from 30-50% to 50-100%]

Honestly whose idea was to give him clairvoyance and buster up with a triple arts deck. What the actual fck was that. Well his official rank up for the first of those was really good, even if it was pretty lazily just...making the skill's main focus something else entirely. The real use of his Clairvoyance now is to be a near perpetual full debuff immune, so lets take that even further with effects that are VERY much perpetual if fully leveled. In exchange, these effects are both relatively minor, being the EXTREME niche of ignoring target focus (which is especially useful when it's not uncommon for challenges to pair sabers with target focus lancers) and the ability to always have Sure-Hit up on his arts cards. Both of these have their utility but they're so situational that you could argue the obligatory star drop buff is the bigger change. Bringing the star drop up to a doubled 100%, which crazily isn't even anything too special these days despite being the SECOND time it's been increased, Arjuna's high hit counts mean even as an Artscher he'd be potentially generating over 20 stars BEFORE factoring in his second skill or ally support. Given the duration remains at 3 turns though, and the cooldown remains an unchanged 8/7/6 as well, this means you're effectively choosing between two options. Do you want Arjuna to be a decent crit star generator, or do you want to save the skill for its utility and make sure those other effects are up when you need them to be?

Lore wise it's actually quite simple. Arjuna's just styling on everyone he fight, as per usual when he uses his clairvoyance not to actually aim better, but to see how much he can show off while still actually landing shots. Canon fact! So with his main card type, IE Arts, Arjuna's aiming is so good that his clairvoyance allows him to ensure his shots always hit their mark. What's more because he has the ability to ensure his shots hit their mark, enemy skills are unable to draw his attack to an undesired target.

Hero of the Endowed A+ -> A+++

Increase own NP Gauge by 25%. Recover own HP every turn (5 turns).^ Gain Critical Stars every turn (5 turns). Increase own NP Gauge by 10% each turn (5 turns). Increase own DEF (5 turns). [Double healing to 1500-3000. Defense scales from 5-35%.]

Ironically his most notable skill gets the simplest change, most of the skill remaining untouched. Arjuna, like Karna, completely lacks any real defensive options. Whereas the rank ups for Karna gave him almost no soft defense in exchange for a unique hard defense, this is the opposite, giving Arjuna VERY good soft defense but zero hard defense. Hard defense is borderline mandatory for SSRs at this point (Seriously the only gold unit not in NA left who even has Defense Up is Ibuki) so it has to be really good to make up for it, totaling at 5 out of every 8 turns having up to 1.5x the initial regen and an additional 35% defense. This gives him both unquestionably the best HP regen in the game and one of the best defense buffs in terms of %-to-duration ratio. Between these 2 effects and the long term debuff immunity on his first skill, the margin of support needed to keep a dedicated Arjuna alive is also drastically reduced to be feasible for more than just those with Merlin's invincible and Waver's damage cut. (Seriously though what is with these "great heroes who are uber powerful" in lore DYING IN SECONDS?! Don't answer that its because enemy NP scaling is horrid...)

Mana Burst (Flame) A -> Mana Burst (Agni) B++

Increase own Buster Card effectiveness (3^ turns). Increase own NP Strength (3^ turns). Apply Increase Critical Strength to self (3 turns) when landing a critical hit (5 turns) Apply Spreading Fire to all enemies (5 turns) every turn (5 turns) Apply [Burning] field status to self (10 turns).

Okay now we get to the important stuff. As stated before this is where the truly necessary buffs start. Arjuna's biggest issue is the lack of damage - his NP hits hard but he has no sustained damage at all even with his crit generation. If he had any survival at all that'd be fine but...see previous rank up. The solution though is easy. Feedback loop. Arjuna's issue is that his stim isn't just a Mana Burst, therefore Buster, it's also a weaker than normal one, being the same 50% total as most but 20% split off to NP strength up. For comparison, Artoria's OOPS ALL BUSTERS rank up gives her 30% NP strength on top of a base 50%. Rather than do that kind of crazy shit though, we're gonna actually leave the scaling on the mana burst untouched, making it 3 turns to compensate. This means you don't have to wait until the NP turn to use it, which is crucial with the new effect giving a very good reason to not wait until then (Whereas before you never had a reason to use it when his NP wasn't ready). I really wish we had more crit buffs like Orion and Hokusaber's, because it's really good design and feeds into how quick and crit star based teams are best at feeding into themselves. On that note, Arjuna would finally get proper use out of all those crit stars he generates per turn. Hence, while the crit buff itself is the standard 3 turns, the amount you can apply them is 5 turns, which means at its max Arjuna has yet another pseudo-passive of boosting his crit damage on crit. And that's the real trend of these rank ups.

The other new effects are entire flavor based to that's as good a point as any to go into the lore side. The burning field gives Arjuna synergy with his fellow anti-divine servants the Nobus, as well as that previous Karna rank up idea, and given Tomoe's whole deal there's definitely some niche situations where the absurd number of potential Spreading Fire stacks could be genuinely useful, but in 95% of situations both aren't even worth mentioning and are included solely for flavor. More speciifcally, WHY Arjuna has Agni's blessing to begin with, the events of Khandava-dahan or "The Burning of Khandava Forest." Agni basically wanted to "feed" by burning down a forest, but Indra was friends with the Naga who lived in it so he obviously said no. Agni decided that clearly the sensible thing to do would be the equivalent of "Dad said no so I'll ask mom" and asked Indra's son for permission, the specific son in question of course being Arjuna (Krishna was also there). Arjuna was like "Um...OK? You probably know best you're the god here-" and then shit hit the fan and while the entire forest burned down Arjuna fought off Indra himself and a bunch of divine forces with a bow given to him by Agni. That bow was Gandiva, which Agni would let him keep as thanks alongside a special chariot and two quivers that would never run out of arrows. In Fate, this translates to him getting his bow with arrows he can just manifest at will, being able to float, and being able to use flames to turn his arrows into veritable napalm rockets. So yeah, it doesn't take much to figure out why I gave him Spreading Fire and Burning Field.

Citation needed on this last part but I got the idea for the Crit buff from the same story. I found this one description of the events (there's like a million versions of every part of the Mahabharata apparently) where during the fight against Indra, Arjuna fought for days on end - in order to keep Gandiva's bowstrings lubricated, he used his own sweat from the flame coming off of it, so that's where the feedback loop idea came from!

AAAAAAAND here's the big one. FUCK instant death. All my homies HATE instant death. Honestly who the actual fuck thought the rank up he needed was "The same but the chance of instant death is even higher" as if they don't literally program it so that Instant Death doesn't work in any major fight whatsoever? The only reason I'm even writing it out instead of letting him keep it on top of everything else is the visual clutter. The obvious thing to give him would be Ignore Invincible, but we're choking to death on AOE Buster Archers with Ignore Invincible, given the lore. It's the same lore reason it has ID - Pashupata is Arjuna's use of Shiva's Astra, an Astra being a sort of conceptual weapon of Hindu myth that only a chosen few can even hope to wield without destroying themselves instantly, ESPECIALLY when it comes to those of Shiva. The Pashupatastra, the true form of Pashupata, in particular is said to be for destroying any living thing regardless of its strength. But that can be conveyed through more than just Ignore Invincible. Ya know what we don't have a single one of? AOE Archers with Remove Buffs. Plus it's arguably more accurate since Enforcement defense has the one weakness of remove buffs. Just like with II though, I didn't go with Ignore Defense either to avoid sheer overlap, instead giving Arjuna class advantage against ANYTHING divine, nicely keeping the anti-divine nature of the weapon as part of the kit. The difference simple anti-divine attack and this is that the base multiplier is affected. This won't apply to Sabers or Berserkers since there's already an even bigger x2 advantage against them, but it also can't apply to Foreigners since their divinities come from Outer Gods beyond the scope of human history and its respective gods. The real game changer is that NP Boost though. Oberon is currently the only one to have it, his being targetable and scaling from 50-100% at the cost of the permasleep. Considering the existence of things like Black Grail, it's REALLY not hard to see why it has that demerit and why it can't stack....but I scaled it pretending Holy and Black Grail don't exist. If they wanna make badly designed CE's that's their issue not mine. So Arjuna's applies before attacking, and scales with NP level, which is obviously hard to raise on an SSR but should also be heavily rewarded if someone does love an SSR enough to go for dupes. Even at level 1 this is an decent boost when paired with his natural mana burst NP buff and your basic NP damage support (Santagale, support Tamamo, Bart) but it's once you reach level 2 that you'd regularly have buffs on the level of AUO's automatic 30% buff on his AOE Archer Buster NP. While the nature of NP Boost means it won't get any use without dedicated CE's/team support, the buff removal on the NP combined with it makes it arguably even more devastating than what AUO has. On the one hand, it's a bit much....on the other hand, it's canonically an attack as strong as Ea and it's still not as busted as some of the newer stuff they release, so yeah might as well! Like I said at the start, these last two rankups are the only ones I would actually give for the sake of balance. It's deserved if only for that Instant Death garbage...

TLDR: Again, the real trend of these rankups is to capitalize on what Arjuna's biggest strength already is thanks to the official rank ups he's received: "Set it and Forget it." Normally that's used as a negative description of servants who you thoughtlessly skill spam, but Arjuna could be done in a way that's actually fun by combining dynamic elements with that more passive design. Whereas someone like Karna is suited to burst damage in one massive blow, Arjuna's role becomes much more focused on the other end. 5/6 turn full debuff immune, 75% battery across 5 turns, etc. His OFFICIAL kit is clearly already best for a "set and forget it" approach, with the first two of these rank ups highlighting that with the passive-like effects of ignore-target-focus and sure-hit-arts, while the second rank up reinforces the idea of relying on passives for defense options rather than hard defense. Most crucially though is that third skill which would give his damage output the same approach, rather than being a waste in most situations. The feedback loop of stars per turn and crit buffing crit could be amped even further with the right support to keep arjuna alive and/or increase his star gather, as those are the two failings he retains, being reliant on soft defense (which is terrible for tanking NPs) and his naturally high star gather as an Archer rather than a more certain gather buff. Outside of that, the other hard part becomes making sure you still line the skill timings up. That's where the active elements come in. His first skill has a massive star gen for a shorter duration, his second skill has that 3 turn gap if the fight is drawn out, and his third skill would require you to potentially choose between starting the feedback loop of critical now, or wait until the NP is ready to give a serious buff to what is now a damn good NP, even against single target fights, and probably breaks quite a few CQ's in half, and unlike what we have in game actually lives up to its lore.

this character (and honestly, the show) is why I'm terrified of therapists all the more. the way she holds Bucky accountable for all his past trauma, convinces a victim that he can't hide behind the excuse of lack of control is the most deliberate attempt the MCU has made to villainize bucky. i hated the show and I'm still so mad about it.

steve and bucky are beautifully complex characters but the fkn MCU didn't have the space for their authentic selves. so, back goes steve into the past to reconcile with a woman who worked with nazis and all his anarchist (my view; debatable, i know) ideals and the love he had for his only connection in this world went down the drain. steve and bucky were not in love because of the "importance of a shared life, a history". fck off, they had been in love since the forties. they were best friends who wanted to help the world and maybe change it.

and bucky, god. he never fits into the picture the MCU creates about their heroic men (steve with his ambiguity is somehow hammered into the mould of a perfect leader of white puritans). bucky has been violated, and his agency and autonomy were taken away from him. now that doesn't sound like a hero. nope. this sounds like a villain who deliberately killed people all over the world. he's just a sad little meow-meow looking for redemption now that his best friend steve is not around to protect him anymore.

it would have been far better if they left bucky's trauma unacknowledged instead of villainizing it, instead of putting him through situations that make him relive the trauma. he's broken, the show tells us that much. but they also force bucky's "guilt" down our throats : that bucky had done what he did out of his own volition. all of this is validated by the existence of bucky's therapist and the circumstances of his therapy. what is supposed to be helping him is instead imposed on him like a punishment. nobody in the entire show understands what bucky has been through (except maybe the throwaway references to his time in wakanda and how that was slowly helping him).

bucky barnes is my favourite superhero and i will never forgive the mcu for destroying him like this to further their own agenda.

repeat after me : Bucky Barnes is a victim, not a villain.

War on Terminal vs Utsuro:

Personally I think it was pretty standard as wish-granting stories go in my experience. It’s always a "save the world by granting the protagonist’s wishes” or “meet/defeat your maker” or “final parting with your maker and moving on” kind of thing. Gintama did everything lol.. not bad tbh.

on the Joui.

While I complained before about Katsura/Takasugi making gintoki’s life hell in the rest of the arcs... I do think it was cool that they forgave each other for the things they’ve done to each other in the name of their master. It’s good compromise/acceptance on each of them for the Finale.

Despite what other say about katsura/takasugi not getting what they deserved... I think they actually got what they deserved lol. For me the finale was ultimately a Shoyo/Gintoki thing. Katsura got his master’s recognition when he they talked as equals on how to contain the Altana, Takasugi is finally laid to rest after years of being a living corpse. Gintoki got closure once and for all.

It was a good ending that finally closed that chapter of their pasts.

On the true ending

Main Characters:

Gintoki - as a wish shopkeeper i like that he went back to doing that job. As far as wish granting stories go, it’s pretty satisfying that he stayed true to the whole ethos of the series at the end. And where he’s at is a good place to restart.

Shinpachi and Otae - them paying respects at their father’s grave is a good callback to how gintama started. It’s a good ending scene.

Otae - I wish it was made clear what her final profession was. Was that stint at the cabaret club party a temporary thing? She had declared that she had already left the nightlife during timeskip arc, so what the hell was going on? Is she kabajou once more now that Gintoki has returned and the fabric of Kabukichou life was mended... Or is she some kind of manager now?

Kagura - she and gintoki gotta fix their whole living situation smh. One pf them absolutely has to move out. (Shh dont worry kodoukan dojo has plenty of rooms)

Other Edo groups:

Shogunate - despite saying it’s the end of the shogunate, a tokugawa woman is still in power at its place. Yeah Katsura/Matsudaira may have killed off the immediate destabilization attempts but bruh, Edo is only one city in the whole of Japan lol. So if there is a continuation... will there be a meiji restoration or no? Where’s the imperial faction in gintama anyway??

Shinsengumi - by letting shinsengumi live in this adaptation... sorachi would have to deal with either 1) making them heroes and not brand them as the traitors the imperial govt made them out to be historically 2) meiji restoration not existing. The possibilities are endless but unfortunately we move far away from the original historical context if they continue.

Kondou - fck him he’s still a stalker. Yuck.

Yagyuu - pretty okay ending i think. They’re in a good place.

Yoshiwara - like I said before, it was still glossed over if Kamui/Harusama still have holdings in that scene and what Soyo thinks of the ward in general (other than being a touristy place). Does Hinowa/Tsukuyo have monopoly of that place? Are you telling me that courtesan power struggles from within Yoshiwara have miraculously dissolved because they have gintoki as savior, hinowa is benevolent and tsukuyo has a standing army? that’s too easy smh. come on gimme smth to work on here.

Joui/Katsura - in the end he’s still a terrorist unlike his historical counterpart who travelled to other countries to copy/learn western governments and techniques. So idk. Is kondou gonna take over his job or smth? From what I understood Donald Zuramp prioritized the elimination of destabilizing factors in his term. But then at the end he returned to being one of those destabilizing factors. Therefore Shinsengumi will have to become one of the government’s main military arms and will have to do the study abroad programs and sht.

Oniwabanshu - I dont fckng know. I’m kind of sad that they’d be out of jobs now. Okita kind of has their market covered in Soyo’s government. So what is Oniwabanshu in general?? Or a are they all working together? I havent seen Zenzou directly interact with Shinsengumi though. This whole thing is a mess.

Kiheitai - the absolute scapegoats in this mess of a finale tbh. Takechi Henpeita is wasted. Matako’s now a babysitter of a reincarnated Takasugi. They’re lost in a limbo now since they dont have an imperial faction to support nor a leader to guide them to a direction. Bansai is rolling in his grave as we speak.

I’m not very satisfied with the sidegroups endings tbh. So many things are still left unclear.

On Yorozuya:

I like only the ending for their group (and the rest of kabukichou) tbh. I like that they’ve moved on in their own way after all the hurt from the wars. I think it’s comforting to see them all back together in the lazy comedic homely way that we are used to. GIntoki permanently disbanding the Yorozuya to do something else like join one of the other military groups or transfer his business home base in some place other than Kabukichou is too jarring. Gintoki embodies the Kabukichou spirit and I believe it’s a good call to have return and do what he does best in the place which ultimately gave birth to the present and future him (and kagura/shinpachi/sadaharu/otae). If there is a continuation it’s the most decent place to start over.

I still want to see thay Yorozuya-exclusive nabe dinner in the Kodoukan dojo after all.

On GinTae:

Since the Yorozuya is back together then they will still be good important intimate close friends and family to each other. A main dynamic such as theirs ending on that note is the most satisfying thing.
