I LOVE HIM SO MUCH HE’S THE SILLIEST EVER. Anyways, now that we have that out of the way. He is very touchy with you, especially after you guys start dating. He constantly has his hand on your shoulder, arm, in your hair, or on your leg. He’s been so touch starved ever since Lilith left him. So he’s always chasing that kinda of comforting physical touch. Also, probably just always clinging to your arm, no matter what you’re doing too. He’s just there, hanging around. I said in another post he likes to play with your fingers, rings, hands, bracelets, etc when he rambles on about whatever is interesting him. ”I had another Idea for a rubber duck that blows bubbles but I never really got around to it, plus there’s always—“ and he’d be fiddling with your hands the entire time. He also has a thing for being called really lovey-dovey pet names. Princess, sweetheart, babycakes, pretty boy, things like that. I swear they have him on the floor blushing every time, especially if you play it up well enough. ”You look so good today,” and then you strut over to him and tilt his head up to look at you, “my pretty boy.” Hes in shambles oh my god. Probably giggling and putting his hand over his mouth to conceal his dorky grin. Up the stakes by taking his hand and kissing it gently, never breaking eye contact. “Oh— oh my—“ he would stutter out. “Darling how… charming.” But he’d be tomato red and giggling the whole time. Not a lot of people acknowledge this, but he can be very snobby too. Of course, he’s the king of hell. Why shouldn’t he be? He also hold himself to a standard above sinners because, in his words, ‘they’re just the worst.’ So he’d be lowkey snooty and proud in public sometimes. And he’s a little rich boy too so don’t be surprised if he complains about how: “This restaurant serves their lamb too cold. You know, we don’t have to eat here. I have pancake batter at home sooo…” If you end up calling him out on it he’d feel bad about being so bratty and tip the waitress an outrageous amount. Also, i’m sorry this man is a little spoon through and through. Let’s be real right now. He’s so tiny he absolutely dissolved in your arms. Which is very comforting for him on bad days when he just wants to be held by you. He also, even though he acts all high and mighty when it happens, loves being manhandled by you. Maybe he’s overworking himself and so you just sneak up behind him and throw him over your shoulder. He'd bang his fists on your back and demand to be treated with dignity, as if he couldn’t overpower you in seconds. Also, you catch him talking to his rubber ducks A LOT. For a while they were probably all that he talked to it’s kind of sad to watch. But in a cute way? He has names for them all and specific personalities. He’ll be showing you his collection and be like “Oh, george likes you!” after forcing you to hold a rubber duck for him. Also a good cook, I don’t know why I just feel like he is. But like very oddly specific dishes too. He makes a mean gourmet mac and cheese with parmesan on the top. He likes to dance with you too, whether it’s slow dancing or you two are just being silly, he likes to feel your body warmth on him while you two move together. Also, i’m pretty sure we all ready know… autism. I’m not even projecting this time either, it just might as well be canon. So he comes you to about any new hyperfixations he has at the time because he trusts that you, above all people, will listen to him. Once again he’ll play with your bracelets, or fiddle with his hands while he talks to you. And of course, you listen, and even do your research later to make him feel like you really care. He also loves making arts and crafts with you. Sometimes even with some friendly competition (incredibly competitive high-energy contests on who’s contraption works better.) I also imagine you have to say things to him multiple times for him to hear you. It’s not that he can’t hear you, he’s just in his own little world, not paying attention at all to his surroundings.

Then he’ll focus so hard on paying attention, that he’ll forget to actually pay attention and make you explain it another time.

I imagine he likes doing little tasks for you, so he can feel useful. Like running your laundry for you, doing the dishes, anything to keep him busy.

Also, it’d it earns words of affirmations from you, then it’s worth it. 

Say you catch him scrubbing pots and pans to save you the effort. Come up behind him, put your hands on his hips and kiss his head before telling him how amazing he is. And how great full you are for him.

He’s beaming and smiling so hard his cheeks hurt.

I also think he’s a morning person, so more often than not, he wakes you up with breakfast in bed.

He falls asleep so early at night it’s literally crazy. 

Like you could be hugging him, even standing up, at nighttime and he would immediately get so drowsy.

You’d have to pick him up bridal style and carry him to bed, all the while he’s whining about how he’s “Not tired, yet! I still have so much to do.” I think he also is a huge giggler like he just gets a kick out of everything you say and thinks you’re the funniest person alive. Also, he’s a terrible ugly crier. Like his face scrunches all the way up, snot comes out of his noise, he makes god awful chocking noises. It be kinda funny if it wasn’t so sad to watch to be honest. Cries at super stupid things too, those dog commercials for example. But it’s so bad he could be being his goofy self and like making the milk and the carton of eggs talk to each other. And he would get so invested in their ‘lives’ that he would start crying. ”No, Mr. Milk i’m sorry we can’t—“ sniff sniff “—be together. I DON’T LOVE YOU!” and now he’s crying. He buries his face in your shirt when he cries and just, I have a specific noise in mind, violently squeaks and sniffs.

they do not.

they are in an interesting situation: nico has never had to do chores in his life. as a kid, he was the son of Literal Hades and an aristocrat, he for sure had people doing that shit for him. in the lotus, they presumably had room service. he may have had to do a few chores at the military school, but a) they weren't there for long and b) as an older sister with a younger brother, bianca was doing that shit for him. she ordered him to make his bed, he did a horrible job, she huffed and did it herself because it's more of a pain in the ass to make your brother do it again than it is to do it yourself. bianca i get you. after that he was homeless, so there was obviously no cleaning there, and then he lived in his father's palace. he has never so much as done a load of laundry except maybe hastily with a public washroom sink and a bar of soap. he barely knows what a mop is.

will, on the other hand, has been in charge of both a cabin and a literal infirmary since he was 13 years old. on top of that, if i am not mistaken (i'm so sorry i still havent read toa and tsats im getting there i swear), he grew up on a farm. his ass knows how chores work, in fact i would bet money that he gets a little obsessive when it comes to cleaning. he is acutely aware of how many germs are on every single surface ever. he cleans and he does it a lot.

this could go really badly, because habit would indicate that will would be doing all of the housework and nico none, which is Bad For Relationships.

however:

nico really likes will.

will is a massive hypocrite who overworks himself. he also is a bit of a control freak.

nico is also very, very observant.

i think, in the beginning of their friendship, even, nico noticed that will, like bianca, would let the onus of cleaning and tidying fall to him because 'no one else does it right', and also, maybe, it's just easier not to fight people about it. i think this would bother him. i think he would, in his inability to, like, be normal, impulsively challenge will to a cleaning contest.

and. like. will is a competitive person, okay. maybe not about things he knows he can't win, but when he knows he's good at something? he is not letting that shit slide. look at how fast he was to dunk on octavian, how prickly he got when nico doubted his ability to outrun the romans. if nico, who will knows damn well has done like four chores in his life, tries to challenge will, mr. antiseptic is my closest friend solace, to a cleaning contest?

he is going to sweep the floor with him.

from there things kind of spiral. at first it's a dorky ass learning curve, because nico loses every cleaning competition so so badly and quit fucking laughing, solace, you dickead, the windows are not that streaked and also watch me spray you in the goddamn eyes, huh, how do you like that and it's just kind of...fun. for the first time in a long time cleaning up doesn't make will quietly bitter.

plus, as an added bonus, nico helping will clean up makes it less invisible when he does it. now people are starting to notice that, no, the infirmary does not magically clean and organise itself, someone does that. and maybe a few more people pitch in to help. and maybe will realises, and maybe he smiles gratefully at nico when, for the first time in years, he has two entire days off, back to back, in the summer, for the first time in years. and maybe nico thinks he is going to collapse into dust because gods will has a nice smile. not that he cares or notices or anything.

do they need to keep having competitive chores forever?

no.

but does it make both of them kind of shyly pleased and happy to remember how they started? to remember how much their friendship means to them, first and foremost, and not just their relationship?

yes.

(also, by the gods, nico is going to beat will at laundry one day. he is. as soon as he learns to fold without creasing the whole stupid shirt it's over.)

how do you think their aesthetic would change as they get older?

not much tbh.

will is pretty happy in his cargo shorts, which, mood. and nico is very committed to his Prince of Darkness look.

they are gonna have to get used to like...regular weather when they leave camp tho. i think will might begrudgingly have to get used to pants. he hates jeans with a fiery passion and any kind of slacks, but he will accept track pants.

he is also into shirts with horrible horrible puns on them. especially medical puns. he and nico frequently fight over who gets to buy shirts with bone puns on them, because they both find it funny. their closet (lol) is quickly morphing into one monster.

will complains about wearing shoes every single time he has to wear something that isn't flip-flops (again, understandable). he likes buying off-brand white converse and customizing them, though, so those are acceptable.

he refuses to wear boots under literally any circumstances. there could be three feet of snow on the ground and dumbass will be wearing chucks.

while their t-shirt situation is pretty similar, nico literally doesn't wear pants that aren't jeans. sometimes he sleeps in jeans. (not to make will's eye twitch, noooo, of course not, sometimes he just Reasonably Forgets or is Reasonably Too Lazy to get changed)

nico does also, on occasion, wear button ups, sleeves folded to just above the elbow.

will likes these very much.

especially the green one.

the green one is Very Very nice.

as for hair, nico grows his out to shoulder length so he can tie it back. he doesnt keep it much longer than that, because too long and he looks like bianca -- he always looks like her, and he never forgets that, but its important to him to remember her while still being able to think of himself as a separate person. he cuts it when it goes past his shoulders.

wills hair is literally untamable. it grows where it pleases. he hasnt had a haircut since he was six years old and somehow his hair doesnt grow down to his waist. he has no idea how long it actually is. they tried to measure it once but it changed every two minutes. the literal only time it resembles anything close to maintained is when he wears it in two french braid pigtails :) nico likes to buy him elastics with little charms on them. he wears them to suit his mood, he has a whole collection.

Hatake Kakashi

Kakashi is known for being a pretty cool and aloof kind of guy, but in one of the first few chapters we get this gem.

I'm unsure if this is Anime only or appears in the Manga as well, but either way I love me a dorky man (Seriously, i do. I married a punny man, this is right up my ally)

2) When Kakashi noticed Sasuke freaking out in the Land of Waves arc he takes a moment to assure his student that he'll do everything in his power to protect them, including dying if he has to. It's not a necessary thing to say, but Kakashi understands that his kids have been put on a mission way over their heads and they need support. In this instance, he supports Sasuke with a verbal promise. Later on in the same mission, after Zabuza and Haku's death, he supports Naruto by allowing his student to cling to him (holding onto his pant leg) and by supporting him when he calls Zabuza and Haku 'pretty cool'.

3) Just his general cool attitude towards Gai. Kakashi's never closed off to his friend, but he acts relaxed, and in their first few scenes together he can be seen asking Gai to repeat himself, to which Gai responds by talking about how 'cool' Kakashi is. I love this because up until this point, we've seen Kakashi as hyper-aware and although he's aloof he always seems to know what's going on around him. Then in comes Gai and he can play the 'sorry I wasn't paying attention' Card and I personally love that for him.

4) Teaching Sakura the Qi release technique. I know it's off-screen and only mentioned when she uses it, but I love that Kakashi found a moment to teach Sakura something that he didn't teach either of the boys. It highlights his ability to see potential in his students and to teach them useful things (even off screen) that they can make use of later.

5) How he protects his student. whether it's protecting Sasuke from Orochimaru by placing himself between them, protecting Sakura from enemy shinobi by killing them in one easy hit, or even guarding his friend's students as he does when Kakazu tries to attack Ino-Shika-Cho. I love that Kakashi's 'I will protect my precious people' isn't just words. that he really holds true to that and actually does everything he can to try and protect them. I love that he turns and walks away from Tsunade while she's demanding he go on a mission because he needs to go after Naruto and Sasuke. He needs to protect them. I love that he outright ignores Hiruzen's plan to send a letter to Danzo because he knows Tenzo is in danger, and instead he heads into root without any backup and only a plan to rescue someone he calls a friend. I especially love that through all of this, with him always being protective of others, Kakashi fights back-to-back with Gai and allows Gai to protect him. He won't accept protection from his students as a rule, or even from any of his other comrades that we see, but when he's fighting with Gai it's equal forces of protection/willingness to be protected. It's such a nice balance that I love to see.

6) I love that he recognizes Sai needs someone to reach out to him, and he offers that support and encouragement that Sai really hasn't heard from anyone else. and he does it in such a simple way. By saying 'I believe in you' and allowing Sai to hear that he is trusted. That he's relied on.

7) I adore that after years of being a good soldier and even giving up even more of his time to be a Hokage, Kakashi finally gets to just be a dork. I enjoy that he goes on Vacation with Gai and acts like a child. That he takes part in their usual competitions with the same energy (just shown in a much different way) as Gai, and he gets upset when Gai won't admit that he won their game of ping pong, showing that he really does care about their competitions and that he does like winning.

8) I love that he's gentle, even when he doesn't really have time to be. A great example of this is when he finds the Konoha boys laying asleep on the road (after Sakura knocked them out) and he takes a few moments to put them off to the side where they can be more comfortable and just a bit safer. I love that he apologized to them for not sticking around or helping more because he really did have to go, but he still found time to at least make sure they weren't laying in the middle of the dang road.

9. Kamuing away Diedra’s arm. A small moment but a brilliant way to introduce Kamui into the world. I love how Kakashi thinks in this scenario. ‘I have a problem. How do i solve this problem? I know! I’ll rip off his arm!’ Brilliant, beautiful, perfection.

10. (Book only) ramming his face into Gai’s ass in Kakashi Hidan. This poor man has suffered so much and now he must suffer me laughing his ass off. Also, talking up Gai before he swoops in to rescue him and then getting annoyed when Gai starts talking about how he understands what it’s like to have a ‘genius rival’. He was so done and i want to hug him. Actually most of that book has perfect moments. Both of his books did i NEED MORE

11. (Kakashi retsuden) ‘i’m not going to apologize for hiding who i am’ ya? And you’re gonna troll your little fanboy by sending him a book with your face on it as the big admission that yes, you are in fact the Sixth Hokage he looks up to? I love you you shit.

12: lamenting Redaku not having an Onsen because he just wants to soak in the nice warm water. Let my man rest.

13. Accidentally letting his cloth’s brush against the tent and thus waking up all the shinobi he hasn’t already knocked out, all because he got distracted thinking of a proud Iruka.

14: (anime only) forgetting he’s disguised as Sukea and almost giving himself away because Houki gushed about how cool he thinks Lord Sixth is.

15. Everything about kid Kakashi. Arrogance, brattiness, the full energy of an angry kid who has already lost so much and is trying so hard to protect himself from more hurt (only to fail because he genuinely cares). Man, i just want to give him a hug.

16. His arrogance. It Definitely eases a bit as he gets older, but once in a while that arrogance and confidence really shines through and i love it. Example: when he called 50 jonin rank shinobi ‘fifty nobodies’ because they posed absolutely no threat to him. Or how he confidently told Naruto he hadn’t even used his Mangekyo Sharingan against Kakazu because he didn’t feel the threat was big enough for that (straight shot to Kakazu’s pride if he’d been alive to hear that)

17: (Anime only) how he jumped over his desk to grab Iruka’s hand’s when Iruka’s words helped him realize a solution to his problem. This was a KakaIru’s dream moment and just adorable as all heck!

18: how just… dramatic he can be. Need to make an entrance into the chunin exam’s with Sasuke? A sudden appearance with leaves floating around them should do it! Want the enemy to believe they killed you? Throw your whole damned body into it my man or it’s simply not believable. Like seriously, he did not need to be this dramatic with his ‘death’ in the land of waves arc. It was over the top and i love it.

19: (anime only) cutting lightning specificlly to save Gai. It wasb’t a test of strength or ability. Kakashi saw danger and faced down a lightning bolt to protect Gai. One of his precious people. It’s a really sweet moment of him admitting to himself that he cares about Gai and wants to keep him safe, and it’s bad ass to see him slice lighting with his chidori,

20: stopping Kakazu’s lightning with just his hands to protect Team Ten. Shikamaru, Choji and Ino were surprised by Kakashi’s decision to place himself between them and Kakazu’s attack and who can blame them? Man faced a lightning attack head on and stopped it using only his hands. No jutsu’s, no fancy last second plan. Just his hands. It was awesome.

I love a lot about Kakashi, but these are some of my favorite things. Through all of his faults and mistakes, he really is just trying. He wants to be kind, he wants to help, and he knows he's limited in what he can do but damn it he's still going to do his best.

He’s just such a great complex character. He does his absolute best in a job he’s not at all qualified for, determined to go above and beyond so no one will complain about his work ethic, even when the demands placed on him are ridiculous or dangerous. He’s anxious but he’s also brave and stubborn. He’s jealous and bitter and petty and sarcastic. He’s kind and optimistic and gentle. He’s a poet. He’s incredibly practical, and is better at showing care to others through his actions than his words. He holds onto guilt because he’s convinced it helps him do better. He tries so hard to be needed because he thinks it’s the only way anyone would want him, and he feels like it would be manipulative of him to expect or even want anything in return. He makes an effort to care about others and help in any way he can, even though it is an effort, even when it isn’t returned.

In "Big Picture," Martin says to Simon Fairchild "I think our experience of the universe has value. Even if it disappears forever." I think it may be the most hopeful statement in TMA (not that it has a great deal of competition!), and I thought about it a lot while season five was airing. (And I love, too, how Martin may have been a hypocrite about it, unwilling to let the universe disappear.)

Golly gee what a question. I guess the biggest thing is I love how full of seemingly diametrically-opposed contradictions he is: his genuine sweetness and kindness vs his very serious desire to see the violent death of people he's perceived to have wronged him, his dorky poetry vs the fact that he's the kind of person to use the word "ontological" in casual conversation, his capacity for love and compassion vs his proclivity for isolation. Also he has the best voice.

He hit me as the most human-like character to me. Blame it on the beautiful voice acting or the discreet complexity of how his character was written, but I started loving him for how much I related, and stayed for the cutest awkward love I've ever seen.

The obvious reason is that I see so much of my current, but especially younger, self in him, but I also love him because to me, he is the character in TMA who goes through the most growth and comes into himself. I love seeing his journey of self discovery and emotional strength.

He became a comfort character immediately. His patience, his sweet nature, the way he stutters when he's flustered (just like me,) it all felt like a cool breeze in the fire that is the horror that is TMA. To me, he is the heart of The Magnus Archives! Martin is always showing his most human side to those around him and never lets the horrors around him stop him from being a good person. Like so many on this zine, I see a lot of myself in Martin Blackwood. There's so much of myself I see in him, yet there's so much more I want to be. He's kind and thoughtful. He's soft, but he finds his courage and shows that he can be quite tenacious and clever! He's constantly underestimated, especially by himself, but shows them up with confidence and sass. He doesn't let the horrible things that have happened to him make him hard and is never afraid of being his true self. I also find our relationships with the Lonely incredibly similar. Essentially, it's been quite a long time since I've found a character that is so much like myself, and gives me hope that I can also make the same changes in my life as him to grow and become a better person. Hopefully that doesn't include being stalked by a worm lady.

What kind of couple are Ida and Rosie? Are they goofy together? How do they tease each other? Did Rosie’s dorkiness rub off on Ida eventually? What hobbies do they like to do together? Do they prank each other? I understand that their relationship in a bit rough at the beginning , and romantic feelings develop later for Ida, but even before the onset of their romantic connection, their bond needs to evolve. So, how does it unfold?

Oh, how I love this!!! Right, rough as some of the start is, they also become thick as thieves within a few months due first to necessity, then out of fondness. So that, upon war’s end when they don’t have the other at their elbow, in their jeep, across the coffee cup littered desk -they’re bereft. They love a good challenge and they really get a kick out of tackling it together, Rosie goads her into actually absorbing some applause for her merits and she enforces his taking care of himself.

As a couple they’re competitive, for sure. Occasionally against each other but mostly them against the world and isn’t that a force to reckoned with? Robert teases her relentlessly and she learns how to dish it back in time, both of them loving a good deadpan delivery but he always breaks too soon -he envies Ida’s poker face.

He genuinely thinks she’s the funniest person he knows. There’s not a single inside joke she doesn’t retain and she pulls it out to devastating effects at just the right moment and her favorite thing in earth is making this brilliant man laugh like a messy kid.

They’re a dancing couple. Before intimacy was on the table they enjoyed dancing together and they’re both good at it, music too, is a shared passion and place to argue and tussle over conflicting views.

If acts of service is Rosie’s love Language, Ida on her part makes a study of the people she intends to cherish. She both knows what they like and why, and can defend it as if she too were obsessed with bird watching even though she doesn’t give a damn -but Robert does, and so she’s a proponent of bird watching.

It makes her invaluable with his cases but also in their parenting, while he may be more emotionally intuitive, she’s very aware of all the moving facets of their children’s lives.

Cesar hcs mayhaps?

ooooo I can try !! I don’t talk about Cesar nearly as much as I should lol

I see Cesar as Mark’s outlet to a normal life, if that makes sense! If Mark grew up in a very religious household and didn’t experience anything other than white Catholicism, Cesar probably introduced him to a lot of parts of life he wasn’t aware of previously! I’m ride or die Dave bought Mark his first drum set, he would be a mom’s public enemy number 1 /lh, but Cesar was the one who convinced him to join their church band! (It’s just the two of them,, but that’s okay !! cesar plays acoustic guitar so like that’s basically a band minus a bass player)

Cesar gives me the energy of so many of my college friends where they seem very popular and untouchable but in reality are very dorky and “uncool” /aff. Sometimes you need a friend where you feel able to feel like your authentic very uncool self! And that’s why I think Mark and Cesar’s friendship is so effective :D

As for more general hcs, Cesar strikes me as the sort of person who seeks to outmom the competition. He has the snack bag, he has the permanent parental approval to sleep over, and he has the therapist chair in his room. I’ll avoid the angst implications of that for now, but yes yes mom friend Cesar. He has to be, what with Mark’s aggressive tendency to not take care of himself and Sarah’s aggressive tendencies in general.

He’s definitely the goody two shoes of the pair. Cesar is an only child raised by his good catholic mother, so while he’s probably given more freedom due to maybe not being as strict a catholic as Mark, he’s genuinely surprised by the capacity for teen menace Mark has. An example below the cut, for ur reading pleasure:

They went to Cesar’s house after band practice. Cesar drove his Mama’s old minivan, Mark tapping out beat patterns as they passed the strip malls and empty malls draped in late evening sun. The radio played a dull hum, a low murmur laced with a static buzz, but it all fell to an easy silence when Mark cleared his throat.

“Sometimes when we go to mass the only thing I want to do is knock over that stupid podium that asshole stands at.”

“Slow your roll, you heretic, what did the new preacher do to you?

Mark frowned and slouched in his seat.

“I don’t know. He talks like we’re all servants of God, and our purpose is to further His goal, or whatever. Which is fine, but I feel like He wants us to be happy, and that leading fulfilling lives is what furthers His goal. Living moral lives and living in His image is what betters the world.”

Cesar tapped his fingers on the steering wheel, lost in the blur of houses along the residential street. He clicked the radio off, the static ringing in his ears.

“No, you’re definitely right. I’m just surprised that your first thought was to knock a podium over when I have to order for you when we buy lunch.”

Mark scoffed in indignation, and Cesar laughed. It was a welcome feeling, hearing him laugh, Cesar decided.

“Slow your roll, rebel boy, just let me know when you want to order dinner. And tell me before you go full teen menace, I’ll need to bring a camera.”

Hello! Thank you for the ask. I do enjoy thinking about the Palismans and their bonds with each other and their respective witches.

I think it first started with the Clawthorne family and their Palismans. I just liked thinking of how Owlbert and Lilith’s Palisman were opposites in as Owlbert is the straight forward calm one while Lilith’s Palisman is a clever little jokester. It’s more essentially the opposite of Eda and Lilith’s sibling bond. I learned that Ravens were clever tricksters, and Lilith’s Palisman’ design really brought the forefront of incorporating this into their personality. It just really got me thinking of how Owlbert would watch as they tricked people with their dorky expression.

As for with the parent Palismans, Owlbert was fairly close with Dell’s Palisman as they thought they were so cool and dedicated to Dell. After what happens to Dell’s eye, they watched as how his Palisman tried their best to be a good seeing eye Palisman. They may haven’t seen each other in thirty years, as Owlbert had to go be with Eda and comfort her, watching the yellow Cardinal be dedicated to their witch greatly inspired them to be caring and loyal to Edalyn. No matter what.

Oppositely, Lilith’s Palisman and Hawksly not initially close, as the elder Palisman finds Raven penchant to bother his witch to be grating due to her obliviousness towards Lilith, to which Hawksly can agree as they find her personality endearing but oblivious. Hawks, like Ravens, are prominent in Aboriginal and Indigenous culture. Like the White Raven, they represent intelligence and clear vision—in terms of Celtic mythology, but Hawks also represent freedom, creativity and messengers. Which is interesting because by proxy Hawksly and Lilith’s Palisman should get along, but because of Gwendolyn’s obliviousness which puts Hawksly at a difficult position because they think, by the belief that Hawks belief of not changing someone, doesn’t agree with her pushing to cure Eda. They are going to get his own post to discuss how they are just the mostly morally troubled Palisman ever.

On a more lighter note, I think before the family grew apart, the Palismans, like their witches used to do, practice nesting and prefer to be close with each other. They would have a large nest to stay in if they weren’t perched above the head board of their witches’ beds, overlooking them protectively. Hawksly would be enough for Dell and Gwendolyn if Dell’s Palisman wanted to keep the younger ones company. Though after the children left, and Hawksly had to be loyal to Gwendolyn and help her on her “quest” to cure Eda, Dell’s Palisman remained with him. Alone in the house or on work business. They all barely remember the last time they were actually a family together.

I think like their respective witches, they deserved a close bond because they were used to being around each other and also having small squabbles like with their competition of who has the best pile. After both Eda and Raine both got Palisman, Owlbert probably spent time with Raine’s Palisman. Now that I am thinking about it…it’s odd that even before Raine decided to join a Coven, we never see their Palisman. Now I am just thinking of how Owlbert and Raine’s Palisman would glance exasperatedly at each other at these lover birds.

Eda, after flirting with Raine: I totally nailed it, Owlbert. I was cool as ice.

Owlbert, after watching Eda being a blushing fool for an hour: Yeah…Cool as can be…

Outside of the Clawthornes, I think it’s interesting how Flapjack inherited Caleb’s protective qualities because when you are introduced to them, they are with the other abandoned Palismans. Do tou think they’re protective of Clover, Emmiline Bailey Marcostimo and Ghost before they found their witches and reconnected after Hunter joined the current Hexside gang? They are probably one of the oldest of the group and were trying to live up to Caleb’s values. Even if they couldn’t save him. They would always look out for the younger Palismans with a passion, making sure they are ok, bringing lost ones to the Bat Queen. After being apart of the current Hexside Gang with Hunter, they took initiative role of looking after their fellow Palisman friends as Hunter became more protective of his friends. They both probably took a long time to warm up to others because Flapjack was alone for a long time and still upset of their failure to protect their witch. Hunter because no one ever trusted him or berated him. They both found new families amongst their friends.

Also was Clover abandoned by their previous witch? Did they not seem like what they wanted? Or did their previous witch die and they were all alone? Is Emmiline Bailey Marcostimo shy? Do they tend to hide when they feel as though their disappointed their witch? Are they a people pleaser?

I just think Palismans are cool and it’s interesting how much symbolism as well as animal traits you can play with. I also wonder if you can do Palisman angst because exploring what they think they are supposed to be or their beliefs being tested as the Boiling Isles tests their witches fascinating to me. There’s just so much you can explore.

4. Who initiates affection? Why does the other not initiate affection as much?

Val did in the beginning, before they were actually together. Con was closeted at the time and very reserved so Val didn't want to be too forward, but every now and again they would just lay their head on his shoulder or reach out to squeeze his hand so he would know that they were willing to be patient with him.

Con definitely came out of his shell once they were officially together following the events of the masquerade, though. Since then it's mostly been him initiating. Val is over the moon about it, tbh. They're very weary of accidentally overstepping boundaries, so Con being so openly affectionate has been incredibly affirming for them.

8. What do they love most about the other? Why?

I don't know if I should be speaking for Con since he doesn't belong to me, but Val really loves how goofy Con can be. The dad jokes, the way he matches their teasing, just how playful and dorky they both are. There's no shortage of things that Val loves about Con, but that's a big one.

9. What do they dislike most about the other? Why?

First of all how dare you.

Second of all, I mean. I presume Val's recklessness has to be a bit of a source of stress for Con. They're working on that though <3

And listen Val just loves people a lot. Val loves Con a lot. No notes. They're maybe a little upsetti that he's legally married with children because they want a real wedding dammit, but listen. They were illegal married once and they can do it again. A ceremony would be nice though. They have Priest friends who can bend the rules, right?

26. What sacrifices do they make for the other?

Val has been tempering themself a bit for Con's sanity. They have a strong need to prove themselves capable of independence and that often manifests as them running headlong into certain death, but Con doesn't like it when they do that so they're trying to stop <3 They're sacrificing...personal security. Asking for help is a very scary thing for them, but Con earnestly wants to be someone who can be leaned on, so Val has been trying to be more okay with being cared for.

And I imagine must be sacrificing something when he sees Val tear open a hole in reality that turns people into ground beef ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Am joking, but again I don't feel too comfortable making assumptions since he isn't my character.

27. How do they say “I love you” non-verbally?

GIFT. WAR. Give the other person something thoughtful and special that symbolizes a hope you have for them. Do it with all the love and longing in your heart, but ALSO make a silly little competition out of it because you're both incredibly goofy <3

Also Val likes to bonk their head on his shoulder because on all levels except physical they are a cat.

30. What are their respective love languages? Do their love languages work well together?

I would say all signs point toward gift-giving, and oh boy is their gift war one of my favorite things to come out of this relationship. Quality time, as well. In this absolute hellscape they've gardened together, gone fishing together, camped out together. Please help I care so much.

34. Do they have any inside jokes?

You picked this so I would have to talk about Cheating at Chess, didn't you?

Okay, well, I'm not really sure that this constitutes as a joke outside of like. Party shenanigans, but I'll bite!

So waaay back when Con was first introduced and Val was trying to come up with excuses to spend time with him, Con suggested they play a game of chess. One game in, and Val was getting absolutely thrashed. They hadn't played chess very much, and Con was...well. Con was Con. So round two rolled around and Val, being the little shit brat that they are, read his mind. Every move he made they matched, each time he plotted a different course of action they intercepted. His stream of thought went from "Ah...they're getting the hang of this" to "Was the last game just a fluke?" to "I hope they like me" (!!!!!) to ".....wait a minute, are they cheating?". He started making wildly illogical chess moves just to test out his theory, and after a while of doing that and Val STILL having the upperhand, Con just goes "I have no idea how you're doing it, but you're cheating."

Anyway, flashforward to the masquerade. Con is badly hurt and trapped in a magic circle. If he moves he'll die. If we try to hurt Auric, he dies. If any of us move to retrieve him before Auric is gone, he dies. He has a plan, but he can't say it out loud and risk Auric escaping or hurting one of us. So instead, Con looks at Val, says "Cheating at chess," and Val understands what he needs them to do. They read his mind, and then they do what he asks because they trust him.

So really "cheating at chess" is about implicit trust and a surprisingly deep understanding and partnership between two people who really only met a relatively short amount of time ago, but OKAY FINE GIGGLE IT UP BITES U BITES U BITES U

40. Do they have any regrets in their relationship?

I think Val definitely regrets that Con's been in danger so much because of them. The Priest of Osybus kidnapping and basically torturing him to get to Val, Con literally almost perma-dying in that circle. They have a lot of personal guilt every time something goes awry that they weren't strong enough to fix on their own, particularly if its something that upsets him. I still remember when they died right in front of him during that Morgantha fight. Afterwords they sought him out and just encouraged him to let them have it. They were so sure he was going to be furious with them, call them stupid and foolish and insist they weren't fit for adventuring anymore. And he was furious, but he told them that they were meant to be a team and he wished they would let him help. It was exactly what Val needed to hear and they've been trying to honor that, but they wish they hadn't caused him so much distress in the first place.

45. How do they support each other? How do they rely on each others support?

I like to think that Val is a good listener without being too pushy about it. They have this judgement-free air about them that makes them easy to talk to, but they won't push you to talk about anything you aren't ready to share (unless you're Deyja and they're playing a drinking game). Val also fusses over him a lot. Lil grandparent. You think you're going to get away with moping but you've got another think coming. And Con just sort of...gets where Val's insecurities lie and is an absolute angel about reassuring them. They're both very patient, very willing to talk things through, and I love that for them I love the communication.

49. Do they keep secrets from each other?

Hmmmmmm. I mean in some ways, I suppose? Perhaps not intentionally, and definitely not actively at least on Val's part, but I do suspect there are some things that they might not bring up. Like I know Con's confusion about gender identity hasn't really been discussed with Val yet, though that's more out of a nervousness to say the wrong thing than anything else. And Val is still trying to accept the fact that people might be interested in getting to know them, so uhh. Yes? No?

Oh wait, yes. Val is keeping the fact that they stole one half of Con's last name a secret. Oops.

Female Near, and personas used in Death Note

So I've been saying female Near comes off as  Dreamy, Distracted and introverted. Can fake better social skills. Someone people don't take note of until she opens her mouth. Mello thinks of her as kind of a robot. 

I've said she's quietly angry, furiously proving herself. She's smart, smart enough to play the game, to know the value of blending. People don't suspect her of being sharp, analytic, vicious, until she opens her mouth and starts talking. 

And I realise I've been showing a lot of her through other people's perspectives. And through their perspectives, I've given her a persona. 

Death note has a lot of characters using a persona, a mask,  to hide their true self behind. Light has a mask of composure, a distance he wears to be likeable to everyone, perfect son, perfect student, perfect boyfriend. In actuality Light is dramatic, emotional, and kind of dorky. He keeps his real reactions away from the public eye, be it his family, friends, or himself. Most of his emotional moments are depicted with eyes not facing the viewer. The exceptions are not taken well.

Kira is a mask Light loses himself in. He craves public approval. The Yagamis have a theme of sacrifice, and Kira is as much a god Light Sacrifices to Misa in some ways. Their giving their time, trusts and human connections to the altar that is Kira, a justice, a Lie. Light's Persona is one of Lies, and Near defeats him by stripping him of it, and so Light reacts like a Liar, and tries to denounce everything. His self confidence is tied to his image built on lies. He has all the makeings of a Femme Fatale, and a complicated relationship with his father and his ideals. 

Misa has a Persona that she has turned into a successful career as a model. Her emotions about her family's deaths, suicidal ideation, or anything that might detract from her persona are for the most part kept carefully behind her smile and bubbly charm. She lets Light matter more than her, she keeps her expressed concerns superficial, she doesn't let the other sides of her show. 

L hides. He hides from the world, he hides behind a name, behind a screen, hides behind arrogance, he's above it, removed from it, to the point he doubts his humanity. He's no slouch at acting, quick to throw on a persona in a pinch. He misdirects away from the truth, and when he has you distracted, he tells it. He's often shown eating, in an otherwise empty life. He serves truth and lies, side by side in dialogue. A face and name, L could have given none of those. He could have kept his distance. Like Light, he is childish and hates losing, like Light he sacrificed a friend on the altar of justice. (They sacrificed each other, and paid for it). The irony is L could have won if he accepted a loss. If he hadn't been so fixated on catching Light as Kira, they could have solved the Kira case together and never let Light regain Kira. Kira would have stopped. They could have lived. L valued the truth, Light feared it. 

Takada is kind of like Light, in that she cares a lot about image. She wants the status and respect of looking like she has her life together. So she's Kiras spokesperson, a hot guys girlfriend, admired by the fearful populace. A genius. On surface, the kind of woman everyone wants to be. 

Mikami lives between his work and his devotion. Sorchio also lives between his work and Family. 

We don't get to see a lot of Mello using personas, although I would Imagine Like L, he knows how to wear other masks, and is an actor.. His language use changed when in the Mafia, suggesting he used a different Persona there then amongst Near or other people. His rosary suggests a different personal than public, but as we don't see a lot of him, this is speculation. We do know he is competitive to a ridiculous degree, and despite the ferocity he reacts with, that in itself might be another mask to hide more human weaknesses. 

L talks about monsters, and on some level believes himself to be one. Monsters who tell nothing but lies. Interesting words from a man who serves both in the same dish, and is not afraid to resort to dirty tricks. He also refers to monsters as abducting children, stealing dreams and blood. Which may be how he views the title of L. 

He's trying to break the pedestal, and it contrasts Light, who instead raises it. L tries to stop hiding behind his mask, where Light tries to strengthen it. 

Matsuda, uses little to no duplicidy in his presentation of self, beyond to save himself. He's not super smart or poupluar, what gives him strength, is friendship, tried and true. Its a contrast to a lot of other prominent characters in the series who are smart, lonley and fluid with their identity. Another character who stays steady throughout the series is Soichiro, who has one of the most consistant moral codes in the series. It contrasts his sons, who changes based on the people he surronds himself with. Light reflects like the moon, but based his morals on his fathers.

Near, as a male, wears a literal mask of L to save his life. It's not until after the series that he loses himself in the mask of L. He questioned L as a person, and reshaped the mask of L to fit his ideals instead of the old. But after that, once he restores it to glory, he steps behind it, and loses Near. 

Female Near has started wearing her persona earlier, in contrast to Male Near. She lets people assume things about her, see her as dreamy and distracted and robot. Until she talks, until she's ready to speak, and when she does, they're not looking past her, but at her. A little shocked, more than a little offended, about an assumption they perpetrated about her. She would argue with L, she would argue with god, she would argue to anyone whose listening. Where Male Near is a script writer, Female Near gets up on the stage, and breaks from the script expected to follow when the audience least expects it.

I’m an introvert. A bit shy at first, but once i get to know someone I can be really chaotic. I’m a huge talker, once I start it’s hard to stop. I’m (really) temperamental, sarcastic, eccentric, optimistic, creative, sometimes childish, loud and strong headed. I consider myself smart but I can get SO distracted. I’m good at listening at people too, I like to say I give good advice haha but i’m a huge listener as well. A bit competitive, but i always take the lead on things. I have ADHD and social anxiety. Honestly, I can be a really bubbly person, I mostly show people a happy side of myself. Humor is my number one coping mechanism, so yeah, i’m THAT kind of person. I am very protective of the ones I love and I’d do anything to keep them safe and happy. Just as I can be really bubbly, I can also be stone cold; an irritable, furious person, most of the time. Once I get mad (which happens s lot during the week), it’s hard to cool off. I just get mad and moody easily. Yet, it helps because lately I’ve been caring less and lees about what others think. I tend to have a fight instinct, so i just let it be — whether the situation actually needs it or not, I’ll be ready. I’m a dork, honestly. And i can get dorkier and uncoordinated once I get close to a crush. I’m faithful, so if someone hurts me or a loved one, i do a cross into their face and it’s over. not one to go around circles, i’m rather direct.

STRANGER THINGS: robin!

once you and robin met it was like something clicked. y'all are the most chaotic couple in hawkins and i stand by it. there is never a real moment of silence between the two of you. you guys are either talking for hours or just humming along to music in the background. i think there is a bit of comfort in that for both of you because there is always a constant connection. you both would be so head over heels for each other it is insane and i don't think either of you would fully grasp the other person's attraction. dates for y'all are probably low-key, maybe a drive-in movie or just staying at home and renting one. also, robin would absolutely adore how you collect mugs and would buy you a new one randomly just to see how excited you would get to add it to the collection. also, robin is so interesting in your tarot cards but knows almost nothing about them and no matter how many times you explain it she will just say something like 'well i have you to do it for me anyways'. last note, if you speak spanish to robin she will automatically fold on the spot- if you pull some 'thank you, mi amor' shit forget it. i am talking on the ground unable to get up. you guys are a dorky couple but it's okay because it's literally the cutest relationship ever.

Soy Luna Un Mundo Al Revés: Character Descriptions.

Luna: Cynical, Stubborn, Serious and Competitive. She only wears monochrome colors and almost never smiles.

Ámbar: Sweet, Shy, Kind and Gentle. She is an extremely kind girl who loves to help others, but she is also a total pushover.

Matteo: Shy, Awkward and Dorky. He doesn’t know how to talk to girls and constantly stammers when he gets nervous.

Símon: Seductive, Arrogant and Vain. He is a bad boy and a heartthrob, who flirts with every girl and boy he comes across.

Nina: Confident, Boastful and Self Centered. She doesn’t care about books or school. In fact her grades are so bad that she might have to repeat school all over again.

Gastón: Shy, Introvert and Melancholic. He is not very confident and struggles with talking about his emotions. He has a crush on Nina, but she considers him a pest.

Delfina: Intelligent, Philosophical and Profound. She doesn’t use social media and uses a typewriter or a regular notebook to share her thoughts.

Jazmín: Intelligent, Logical and Brilliant. She is one of the smartest girls at school and she loves to read and learn about everything.

Jim: Competitive, Serious and Rude. She has a huge rivalry with Yam and is constantly looking for a way to beat her in any way.

Yam: Silly, Ditzy and Dreamy. She is a very spaced person and mostly gets along with anyone, except Jim, who she hates more than anything.

Ramiro: Humble, Modest and Simple. He doesn’t like to draw attention to himself and always avoids the Spotlight.

Nico: Manipulative, Arrogant and Self centered. He is a total troublemaker and is always insulting his peers, because he enjoys making them cry.

Pedro: Aggressive, Impulsive and Hotheaded. He is the kind of guy, who always gets in trouble, but he doesn’t mind because he loves trouble.
