my arcana headcanon pet peeve is when people exaggerate how much Julian drinks. He's not shown to be an alcoholic, as far as I know in-game he's mostly shown to drink socially or when he's absolutely in the depths of despair.
The scene in his route where he's day-drinking in the rowdy raven is literally right after he tries to break up with the apprentice. Of course he's gonna be drowning his sorrows. But it happens exactly once in the entire route. (not to mention Barth would probably stop him from drinking more anyways)
He's never really shitfaced after that and I just find it weird that a handful of hc writers and arcana fans just take that moment and crank it up to 11 :'T

The Critical Role team dunamantic diviners have spoken!
It is HOT BOI SUMMER 🌂
In honor of the occasion, have a poll, because why not really.
There are no direct quotes from the end of 97 and no 140/141 moments because we'd be here all goddamn day. Also, you can take this old uquiz I made like three years ago if you'd like. :3 And I do in fact want to hear other great Essek moments in the tags!

does anyone wanna talk about how the fandom has hyper projected onto shen yuan and went the mile with at least a leap of interruptation of one line yet turn a blind eye to the rest of canon?
specifically I'm talkin about the broke american college studentification of shen yuan coupled with the fanon that he's chronically ill. these are two beasts of their own and should be tackled differently so I will.
I personally and strongly disagree with how a lot of fanon portrays shen yuan with messy hair, a large hoodie, disgustin room, and general I guess losercore aesthetics lmao. and now I'm even wondering if he was explicitly a college student or if it was just fanon based on that he's at least 20 years old. I feel this is a mental image constructed not from canon, but the idea of what kind of person would be his age and show his behaviour online... from a western perspective.
I believe that he would be far more put together, especially as he is a rich pretty boy in modern china. the difference in acceptable levels of casual, especially for a son of a very wealthy family, are much different between america and china. honestly I do find it a bit sad I wear a slightly frilly button up shirt and a short skirt and suddenly I'm a model in my area but I digress. I definitely think that shen yuan would probably even be actively into street fashion, give how well he seems to take to shen qingqiu's own pretty boy life. I also have a hard time believin that such a low life style person would readily take to the upkeep and demands of life as an immortal master with specialty in the fine arts.
there's also something to say about his resemblance to shen qingqiu (re: mushroom body), as well as I've seen some people claim that shen yuan was tall due to his lack of reaction nor stumbling with his new towering height. while the two adaptions I know if depict him with short hair, I think he could have readily had longer hair as well, maybe shoulder or so length. if "not reacting" is grounds to stand on (which is also used for the chronically ill headcanon), one could reasonably point out he doesn't seem to have any trouble with his now waist length locks. even slowly growing out my hair I'm having shocks to what the life entails, so I can't imagine being fully chill with sudden long hair. however, with the it's modern china argument for fashion, it is most reasonable he'd have short hair.
and yet, despite all this evidence in favour of a distinguished shen yuan ignored, the fandom took his pretty boy waiting to die line and ran with it, hard. I have been told this was due to a fan translation note implying that it could have hinted to chronic illness, and it was instead warped as fact of what the line was trying to say. I've also seen the lack of reaction claim used on him supposedly adjusting very well to living with without a cure, often paralleled to some people's chronic illnesses. this is a fair headcanon and is not really a problem on it's own. I just want to speak my thoughts on it, especially in contrast to the other popular fanon arising from ignoring a fair bit of canon implications and then taking one that most likely was not even in that direction as gospel.
first and foremost, as a disabled person myself, I find a lot of fandom depiction of chronic illness to be very divorced from reality, used to play into the losercore vibe, often just thrown in there with feelin like the creator forgot they gave him a disability only to suddenly write a single sentence goin "look! he's disabled!", and worse of all as if it could be his only justification for wasting his life away on the internet.
I once read a fanfic that seemed to just list a bunch of things he had or did because of his disability in a very list-like way, but a believable combination enough to presume they at least knew someone disabled, only to leave his cane at home after establishing his unamed illness with 50 symptoms could suddenly k.o. him at any time. not only did nothing happen while he was out, I question why someone of his status yet so severely disabled would not have an ambulatory wheelchair.
I also question the lack of mental illness present in many fanfics. this is not only due to that chronic illness does not really exist independently of mental illness, but I feel that shen yuan is canonically very mentally ill. not only is he wasting his life away with no purpose, heavily implied to be neglected, but he immediately accepts and welcomes a foreign life with no consideration of going back. many people write fanfics of shen yuan pressed about his identity and wishing to be seen for him, but as I've noticed and have pointed out to me by others, that's just not the case. there is no canon reveal because there is no identity conflict. he may divorce himself from shen jiu adamantly, but he marries himself quite well to shen qingqiu, readily switchin how to refer to himself near instantly.
I also feel there's something to say about how he's not only welcoming a foreign world, but one with severe danger that he has to face. and what does he do? dissociates like hell. it takes him a couple books before he even sees those around him as people! I also feel that him not even recognizin that he was cryin from literally ripping a chunk of his own leg out until binghe pointed it out speaks volumes. he let binghe rawdog him in a craze with excruciatin pain that literally killed him and was like "yea this is fine ah what do you mean there's a chance binghe might be dead when I get back noo". could even make an argument that his ignorance to his harem is more than just comphet, but also believin that he wouldn't have value to others in that way. his value is his status: a status he didn't earn and has never earned.
I don't know. I feel there's a lot more to shen yuan than the fandom looks at or rather the fandom digs into things that aren't even there as if it's the penacle of his character. I wanna see more exploration of shen yuan as he is rather than what the fandom wants him to be. or at least to me, his pretty rich boy complex feels far more interestin than the hundredth "oh yea he's chronically ill" shoved in for little to no reason other than they can't comprehend his behaviour without it. as if to say "well if only he could physically do other things, he would. he's not like those losers who can't get a grip of themselves." completely ignorin the depths of mental illness they could explore. it feels both saneist and ableist, in different directions. he's only so pathetic because he's physically disabled. that he can't be any other way, otherwise he's just not likeable.
like give him a couple personality disorders to explore his behaviour with or something! show how he's actually so used to playing pretty composed rich boy in public and that's why he so easily slipped into his idea of shen qingqiu! something!! anything!!!

About Minsc and The Emperor
So, I have some thoughts on the whole exchange where the Emperor initially refuses to help Minsc. While this scene is the subject of many hate posts regarding the Emperor, I don’t see this scene as functionally much different from many other exchanges in the game with companions and NPCs alike. And, while I do think the Emperor is wrong, his reluctance to protect Minsc actually does make sense when you consider some additional context.
Here’s the additional context I’m speaking of: Jaheira tells you before you start the mission to find Minsc that in the earlier years of the Cult of the Absolute, she and Minsc had discovered the cultists and their mind flayer connections. Minsc ignored chain of command, charged in, and not only compromised the entire mission, forcing Jaheira and her Harpers to flee, but it’s what put him in his current Stone Lord predicament. When the Emperor says that his mind is chaos, and that he will not aid their cause, he has good reason to believe that. I’ve seen a lot of players just frame this as the Emperor not wanting an ally he can’t easily control, but I consider that a bad faith interpretation. For one thing, after the rescue mission, there’s a whole exchange back at camp among Jaheira, Minsc, and Tav/Durge in which you can tell Minsc that he needs to cooperate, and he can’t be so reckless in the future. This is a full acknowledgement that he’s a potential liability. The Emperor also encourages you to make allies among those whose goals align with yours and this includes many others who are not tadpoled, and for whom he would have little to no direct influence over. Lastly, we know he’s a risk averse character, and during the conversation leading up to the romance scene, there’s a dialogue option in which he’ll tell you that when dealing with an Elder Brain, there’s no room for error.
Now, I believe the Emperor is wrong here because refusing to help him might jeopardize your alliance with Jaheira and the Harpers. In fact, this is exactly what happens. So, unless there’s a good role play reason to sacrifice Minsc, I’d say talk the Emperor into protecting him. (Minsc is also awesome, so I love having him in my party).
Speaking of which, it’s very, very easy to convince the Emperor to protect Minsc! Basically, you go through a few dialogue exchanges and the Emperor will agree to protect him. You don’t even need to make any skill checks to convince him. This is functionally not much different than many other exchanges in the game in which you’re trying to convince others to your side so you get the outcome you want.
Here are just some examples of these exchanges. Some of these have skill checks, while others don’t.
-Convincing Kagha to not kill Arabella. -Convincing Roland to stay and help the tieflings. -Talking Wyll down from killing Karlach. -Convincing Shadowheart not to kill Lae’zel over the artifact. -Convincing Lae’zel not to kill you because you might be turning. -Persuading Astarion to stop drinking your blood. (If you fail these checks, he kills you then gaslights you the next day). -Convincing Jaheira you’re not a True Soul. (Someone will eventually intervene). -Convincing Shadowheart not to kill the Nightsong. (She may or may not choose to spare Nightsong on her own depending on the circumstances leading up to this). -Persuading Astarion to be better than Cazador so that he stays with the party after not ascending. -Persuading Florrick to not attack Wyll on sight when she believes he killed his father.
There are more examples, but these are the ones I can come up with off the top of my head, and I’m not going to make an exhaustive list. For a game in which you have characters who all have different perspectives and opinions, and will express them, a lot of players just can’t seem to reconcile that the Emperor is just another character with his own perspectives and opinions. Not only that, he leaves you your autonomy to do what you want even if it means you’re risking his life and freedom.
Like the other characters, the Emperor doesn’t always have opinions that align with yours. Astarion is often a notorious example of this very thing. How many of us intervene with Nere before he can kill all the gnomes? Or, save Isobel from being abducted by Marcus? Or side with Dame Aylin over Lorroakan? Astarion disapproves of all of these despite Isobel and Dame Aylin being great potential allies in the final fight. These are just a few examples, again off the top of my head.
To be charitable here, one thing that may be at play is something called ludonarrative dissonance. Essentially, LD is when the narrative of the story and the narrative of the gameplay are at odds with one another. In this case, Minsc is brought under the protection of the Emperor, and he behaves himself from there on out. Yes, there’s a brief exchange telling him to behave, but he either doesn’t understand or pretends not to. Either way, he comes under the player’s control, and with no additional scenes of him recklessly charging into battle, he seems like the perfect, controllable ally. We basically never see the chaos in his mind that the Emperor speaks of, because we, the player, are given control over him. (Kind of feels like there’s something meta going on here).
Now that I’ve been charitable, I’ll be frank: The Emperor could literally follow through on his word to destroy the Nether Brain, not take the stones or crown for himself, save you and the city, all while never forcing you to do anything you don't want to do, and people would still hate him. Oh, wait…

One of the biggest influences on how I view Julius Caesar is my belief that unchecked power is inherently unjust. Even if a dictator only created laws in favor of causes I agree with, the mere idea of a dictator who cannot be held accountable would be horrifying.
Accountability means free elections, fair trials, and distribution of power between institutions that can check each other. It means abuses of power can be addressed without resorting to mob violence, vigilantism or civil war. You can't fix the system just by ensuring the "right people" have all the power - that's authoritarian thinking. Bad actors are very good at saying the right lines to appeal to you, and good people may change their views, make mistakes, or die.
Caesar's popularity appears to have declined during his dictatorship, particularly after 45 BCE, when people expected him to step down after he stamped out the last band of Pompeian holdouts in Spain. The civil war was over; there was no remaining crisis that needed a dictator to enforce order. His decision to hold onto power - and in fact, to pre-arrange sham elections for his supporters up to three years in advance - made both senators and the public nervous. And angry, because it denied the people their voice in government. It's really no surprise that a group of senators decided to stop him with the only way they still saw: death.
We can argue about Caesar's policies, and reforms, and how the republic was corrupt and unjust. But for me, the ultimate form of corruption is the ruler who cannot be held accountable. And it's pretty damn unjust, too.

following on from this. not to always bring marc into everything (sorry marc) but if assen 2015 had happened against jorge, valentino would have very likely pulled something similar again imo. rather than what he actually did, which is approach marc almost immediately for a nice normal friendly handshake and backing off during the podium celebrations. should be noted that during laguna seca '08, valentino was very much committed to yapping at casey on the podium with the world's biggest smuggest grin on his face
partly that disparity is because jorge not marc was the direct title rival, partly it's because valentino was treating marc with kid gloves right until the second that he wasn't, which marc was seemingly entirely oblivious to. if anyone other than marc had said what he said in that presser, had then continued on with similar rhetoric during sachsenring, valentino would quite likely have gone nuclear. he's done it over less than that. his fondness for marc made him continue to exhibit uncharacteristic restraint... except that fondness unfortunately is what left valentino feeling so very betrayed when (to his eyes) marc could not leave well enough alone
#it's so delightfully tragic isn't it. a lot of 2015 played out the way it did because valentino genuinely wasn't looking for beef#but then felt backed into a corner and decided he had no other option than to blow this shit up#if casey says 'what I think is that we won the race' valentino would've torn him a new one then and there like...#if sete had called assen his best race of the season valentino would've reached for the chalk and incense even sooner#though fwiw I do think the relationship was basically doomed from that point. something would have happened sooner or later#2015 is so funny conceptually because there was already something *off* about it most of the way through. you have the familiar beats#but they shouldn't be HAPPENING with marc. they should be happening with the actual title rival - who vale never properly fought all season#assen 2015 should've been laguna should've been catalunya hell it should've been assen 2004 but it couldn't be#valentino kept accidentally inflicting the psychological blows on the wrong guy because jorge just refused to end up in a straight fight#assen SHOULD have been a pivotal race. but of course it couldn't be because what psychological blow was jorge lorenzo being dealt?#btw the unwillingness to beef doesn't just extend to marc. valentino makes a concerted effort to be uncharacteristically friendly to jorge#still think he would've rubbed assen in his face but. overall! he was trying! which again. very ironic#funhouse mirror ass season i love it dearly#//#brr brr#slowly dipping my toes into dropping 2015 hot takes on tumblr dot com... for so long these have been between me god and my google doc#i love jorge i think he's been involved in a lot of iconic battles i think it's funny not a single one of them happened in 2015#minus kinda phillip island but even there it did feel like the other three were Doing More than him#also just a different vibe to a proper one-on-one. a WEIRD title run where the third man that whole year walks away with the trophy

Speaking of missing memos...
How has it taken me THIS LONG to get on tumblr - where I can find a corner of the internet where people don't think I am weirdo for my controversial HP opinions, such as:
The Marauders in the book were pretty cool! I am all for some other takes and stuff, but honestly, there's nothing I enjoy more than a story that has canon-compliant characterisations.
Sirius and James were best friends, brothers, inseparable - and everything else my imagination is free to add on top of the canon.
The obvious m/m marauder ship has to be James and Sirius, surely!?!?! Jegulus proves this, doesn't it? That's just Prongsfoot except it misses the beauty of the best friends to lovers storyline I am here for!
Remus is the kindest bundle in the world and I LOVE HIM, but this boy/man DID NOT stand up to his friends because he had too much to lose from a fall out - and that's a really sad story I wish was explored more often.
I LOVE Sirius to bits, but the idea that James and Remus needed Sirius to be friends pisses me off. There's nothing to suggest Remus were closer to Sirius than James when they were young.
As many future posts will suggest, this list is by no means exhaustive and these topics will come up again and again!

You've heard about the theory that Ned Stark plays favourites between his daughters
Now get ready for the new theory from the same folks that Jon is Ned's favourite child.
I guess bringing Jon with his filthy bastard blood to WF and allowing him to breathe the same air with his superior highborn kids means that daddy was always playing favourites/s.

My Hot Take for the day is that autism is actually very often portrayed well in media, and that having a character outrightly say "i am autistic" kinda takes some of the nuance out of that character. Because now that we have a one word label to describe what they are, we can use that as an excuse to look at them differently, through That Lens Only.
A character who is obsessed with a particular thing (a special interest, if you will), to the point that everything they do is somehow linked back to that interest.
A character who is actually incredibly logically efficient, but NEEDS their space to do their work properly.
A character who HAS emotions, just like everyone else, but for the sake of survival, has to bottle up those emotions and just stay focused on the objective.
Characters in media, real life celebrities, your closest friends. You KNOW someone who is autistic in all of these mediums, perhaps multiple people. You just don't see it, because YOU only recognize a select few behaviours as autistic, or YOU can only see someone as autistic if the canon (or a doctor) labels them that way.
Anyway the main cast of Dungeon Meshi are all autistic. And so are Will Graham and Hannibal, and so is Deku from My Hero Academia.

(Non-traumagenic systems DNI)
Alot of systems claim to support introjects with problematic sources, but still treat factives like shit.
This needs to change. Factives, no matter their source, should be treated with basic respect. Yes, this includes factives of abusers, criminals, political figures and any other source that made you go "but what about-".
And you know what? I'm gonna say it, even if I'll get harassed for this.
Someones source could literally be H*tler, and I would still show them basic respect.
Introjects aren't their source. Introjects do not automatically like or support their source. This includes factives.

Tidbits of ATSV That I Enjoyed (Or Alternatively: Just Miles Being The Most Endearing Spidey Ever)
Miles patting The Spot's head after successfully webbing him (I don't see this as condescending, but rather him still engaging with the humanity of a villain like Spot) and ~very assertively~ telling/asking him not to escape.
"I'm like Robin Hood-if he gave to himself."
Miles' spidey senses going off when he arrives late to his dad's party because there's nothing more frightening than Brown parents when they're mad at you. Beware the chancla or correa!
O.k. So we all know there are different versions of the movie out there. You may already know that one of the slight differences is when Miles goes to save Inspector Singh. There's a version where you can hear Gwen's voice in the distant background yelling no! when she thinks Miles gets crushed under the rubble, and there's another where she's silent as she webs to him. Now, I have found ANOTHER version (online) where her shouting is even more at the forefront. She's practically screaming and sounds more desperate, (prolly because it's close to the same way her Peter Parker died so she's reliving trauma) and the fear in her voice is palpable. That one haunts me.
Jefferson trying to equate studying for his police exams to childbirth, which Rio quickly nips in the bud.
Ganke having a soccer poster of Son Heung Min, a famous Korean footballer who currently plays for the Premier League Tottenham Hotspur and is captain of the South Korean national team.
Miles having a Sashimi (his universe's version of Supreme, but I just like the idea that Miles loves eating sashimi. Like I know that kid has good taste in food) poster in his bedroom.
The fact that Miles kept in touch with Aunt May for long enough after the events of ITSV that he helps her move.
The Spot saying he was one of the more handsome scientists at Alchemax according to his colleagues.
Miles and Gwen having the same collectible toys, the only difference being that he keeps his in the box and she doesn't.
"Hey, don't try to wow me with big words, man," *in deep manly voice* "I do crosswords every day"- Miles after Spot points out Alchemax as "the crucible of our connection!"
Miles going, "This job is so dumb sometimes" after he tries to web Spot at the deli, but it goes through a hole and lands on his face.
"Nahhh, he seems more Dominican to me." Kinda want Miles to meet a native Dominican Spidey because that dynamic would highkey fuck hard *pun not intended*. They would repair relations between our two islands-PR&DR.
"Almost there Mami *smiley face* *cowboy* prayer hands*"
The college admissions coach at Visions Academy straight up saying, "That's your story! Now, just stick to the script..." Ma'am what???
"Calmate Mami, eso no es my fault."
"I've hit a lot of different villains with a lot of different food...I'm just trying to lighten the mood."
Miles in his angsty teen era and smart-mouthing everyone around him. Love that for him.
"He almost killed his mom as a baby, I mean, look at those shoulders." No but for real tho. Those shoulders are as wide as a truck. Kim Seokjin who??? (if you understood that reference, ily).
Miles writing a love letter to his dad in 2 cakes.
Gwen at the water tower chowing and saying how feelings make her hungry after her and Miles talked about how they can't be together cause it would end in tragedy. Like Gwen, come again?!
Also, Miles' and Gwen's talk at the Williamsburg Bank Building being lowkey the catalyst for the 2nd/3rd acts of the film. Without them both kind of silently admitting their feelings for each other, Miles probably wouldn't have chased after her the way he did. Pretty sure you know the rest.
"I bet she doesn't even speak Spanish," and Jeff going "Que barbaridad" in his very broken Spanish. Queue Rio's bombastic side eye.
Both Gwen and Miles referring to Spot as a Villain Of The Week, even though neither of them have spoken about Spot to each other.
"I was bitten by a-wouldnt you like to know? Know what I mean?" SIR. Chill. This movie is for children.
The Spot inverting himself, going from a white mass with black spots to a gaping black hole with smaller white spirals. It's giving Junji Ito.
The irony of Pavitr exclaiming, "Well that was another easy adventure for Spider-Man!" right before an incoming canon event. HIS. He was about to experience his first big loss, and his happy-go-lucky nature would've been challenged.
Miguel saying conyo! when all the Spideys start pointing at each other.
"!Cállate!" "Nosy!" Sidebar: we don't talk about Gwen's banter with bad guys enough. She's so funny!
A lot of the Peters saying hi to Gwen as she passes HQ because she is canonically the one lost love--the love interest they all would've ended up with had she not died, so they all have an affection for her.
Web-Slinger going "Giddy up!" Cause he's swinging up.
Miles offering his fresh new takes on how to deal with the Spot upon meeting Miguel, saying "He just wants to be taken seriously. Like we all do." MILES YOU BEAUTIFUL, COMPASSIONATE GOLDEN SUNFLOWER BOY I LOVE YOUUUUU.
Hobie referring to Peter B. as Humbling Reality Spider-Man, which considering how steeped in tragedy the Spidey lore is, is really saying something.
Miguel's nonono no puedo más no puedo más. His misery is very funny and delightful to me. Little bitch ass.
"You know you're the only Spider-Man who isn't funny." Yes! More Miguel slander in the next one, please! Little bitch ass.
"Snitch!"
Miles shouting out Peter's name for help whilst Miguel pins and lays into him the fact that he's an anomaly. This after he momentarily glitches back to his ITSV store-bought suit. Mimicking the way-in also the first movie-Miles shouting out Peter's name for his own rescue as Doc Ock attacks him at the research facility. Because even though he feels hurt by Peter at this point, that's still his dad mentor and he still instinctively looks to him for protection. Rip my heart out why don't you!
Gwen sneaking back into her and her dad's place just to get that printed polaroid of her and Miles, a pic she already has on her phone.
Earth-42 Miles wearing Nike while our Miles wears Jordans.
#hi. ive seen this movie 8x in theaters and twice on pirating sites. i am unwell#also sorry not sorry for the miguel slander. i am a miles loyalist thru and thru thst bitch is on thin ice#but also literally can't get over gwen “it really is so nice to get to talk to you. me & him its different. in every other universe...stacy#cause directly underneath that she's actually saying. “i missed you. and what i have with you i literally do not have with anyone else and.#you dont know this but ive met hundreds and thousands of spiderpeople. nd even in my friendship with hobie its not like what i have with yo#and im actually really smitten with you. the one person i shouldn't be smitten with bc there is no happy ending for us. and idk...#if i should hold off. and im letting you know all this so that you can decide for me. whether to take that lesp of faith or not with you. &#hope that say yes and make the first move so that i cant but help to just sink into you.“#AND IT MAKES SENSE! SHE MET HIM JUST AS HE WAS LIVING THROUGH AN EXPERIENCE SHE DID. OF BECOMING SPIDEY. AND RIGHT AFTER#SUFFERING THE GREATEST TRAGEDY OF HER LIFE WHICH SHE WAS ABOUT TO BEAR WITNESS THRU WITH HIM. SHE WAS THERE FOR HIS UNCLE DYING AND WATCHED#HIM BECOME SPIDERMAN. WE FORGET THAT THEY ACTUALLY WENT THRU SOME HEAVY THINGS TOGETHER. THEYRE TRAUMABONDED. I KNOW THATS NOT WHAT THAT WO#ACTUALLY MEANS. BUT IT MAKES SENSE THAT SHE CAN ONLY TALK TO MILES BC THEY PERFECTLY UNDERSTAND EO.#anyways idk why im shouting. im high rn. but crazy how all of that meaning was subtly thrown in there. like we got a confession scene folks#from gwen of all people! i love that for me.#also back to miguel: so i know he's hot. but if a hot person were to ever be rude to a waiter we agree theyre no longer hot right? right.#atsv#miles morales#itsv#miguel o'hara#the spot#ghostflower#gwiles#gwen stacy#ghost spider#gwen x miles#rio morales#across the spider verse#into the spider verse

something ig is a bit of a hot take (maybe not on twt tho) is the whole people speculating about dan’s gender. it all just feels a bit off because i sort of think of it as his whole sexuality journey and how people were so onto him. he has said that he is comfortable as a man but obviously if that were to change it would be fine and we would be accepting.
as well as saying phil is autistic or neurodivergent based on some behaviours and videos. he has not stated it so we don’t know but if he came out and said he was it would all be fine. i just feel weird about the whole speculating aspect of it.
It's fine to not want to engage with particular kinds of fandom activities, you can always curate your experience so that you don't see people posting that
It's odd that you throw this at me though, who has a whole autism tag for keeping track of these instances where Phil does things that make autistic me feel represented
No one is pressuring them, no one is tagging them, this is just what marginalised people are Like when we see kindred spirits and go all Leonardo DiCaprio pointing meme at them. We aren't trying to get personal info from them, nor are we trying to spread misinformation about them. It is something of interest to me though that when people try to shut down speculation because 'we shouldn't assume', they don't realise that you are taking being cis and being allistic and otherwise neurotypical as the 'normal' there. "They haven't said they are trans so you should assume they are cis" "They haven't said they're gay so we shouldn't assume they are" what should we assume in these scenarios? That they are the 'normal thing to be'? Because people are hardly ever uncomfortable about speculation when it's shit like 'maybe they like cats more than dogs' 'do you think this celebrity is gonna marry his girlfriend this year? I think he is' etc etc it's somehow always only when marginalised people are like 'ooh I really relate to those experiences and went through that phase of discovery, wonder if they are also a part of this group' that people start being uncomfortable. Which is like. Honestly, genuinely, betraying some internalised queerphobia and ableism.
If you have your reasons for it good for you, yk, you can learn to make it so you don't see shit that makes you uncomfortable. It's just v weird to go to marginalised people of that group to say 'hey it made me uncomfortable that you even suggested that someone might be like you'. Yeah we know, we hear that like. All the time. Lol.
This askbwasn't worded very hostile so I'm taking in good faith and assuming you just didn't think about it this way before, so like. Anon if you see this please do a bit of introspection about this. We are tired of having our identities treated like they're radioactive

It's so so disingenuous to claim that Dany should have taken the time to separate xyz privileged persons in Meereen because "not everyone sanctioned the murder of those 163 children 😞". Oh ok. So that very wealthy, very influential man did not personally give the order. Maybe he doesn't even have slaves. But riddle me this: Where did their wealth come from? What are the historical foundations of their political power? In a society that continues to practice oppression (and a society where wealth and status is defined by it), how is it that they continue to hold as much influence and social capital as the "direct evil"? None of this is happening in a vacuum. And like....this is a society where the dehumanization of slaves is systemic. It runs policy and economics. And the people in power obviously know each other and support each other (considering the fact that they can keep wealth and influence!!!). So does it matter if xzy didn't give the order? Does it matter if they were not the ones nailing those kids to the posts? What matters is that they saw oppression, did absolutely nothing in the face of it, and continued to benefit from it. They are not innocent. Evil isn't just related to the guy pulling the trigger. The devil is also the one who's standing in the back, watching, and counting his coffers. And it terrifies me to think about what some of you would be saying in the real world, in the face of oppression. "I cannot be held accountable because I wasn't the one who pulled the trigger"....but you continued to benefit from the privilege afforded to you by the oppressive system AND DID/SAID NOTHING. By turning a blind eye, you have taken the side of the oppressor. So I'm sorry sweetie but you 👏 are 👏 part 👏 of 👏 the 👏 problem 👏 big time!
