finally finished my project of collecting voiceclaims that are as close as i can find for my hcs of the main HoO cast - just for funsies so it's not as perfect as I'd like but whatever, it was a neat exploration and exercise of me trying to think of literally any franchise for voice actors.
Leo got two cause I had trouble of finding good clips for the voiceclaim that's closers to my hcs for him (the second half of his section). Also got to play the fun game of digging through my art for decent doodles of each character.
Also fun fact, I am almost completely unfamiliar with 3 franchises in this video and was just digging for voice clips on youtube. Try to guess which ones.
Actually it really fucking frustrates me as a disabled person how ‘controversial’ video game accessibility is, how contrived it is to find actually useful accessibility mods for even popular games, how abled gamers try to distance themselves from us because we’re the ones without social lives, who don’t leave the house, who can’t work.
ppl reviewing anti lawn books on goodreads and going "this is preachy" yeah its about a political movement what do you want. are they supposed to NOT advocate for their beliefs
I’ve seen a few people in recent times being all like “don’t assume dnp to be anything but best friends unless they say it outright they’re a couple you’re making them uncomfortable” or whatever and I can’t help but think… switch out one of them for a girl. If this were a het pair we were looking at I bet these people wouldn’t hesitate to think differently.
Take all the 2009 tweets/dailybooths, the vday vid, the living together for years, going on vacations together, having all the traditions & jokes they have. All the times Dan goes to see Phil’s family. The fact they’ve never been around another human enough for anyone to assume they have a different partner (who they’d never have time for anyway when dnp literally make a big deal of how much time they spend together) Dan literally confirming their relationship was more than romantic (at least at some point) in his coming out video. The double dates they go on with other confirmed couples. How casually they’re talked about as a pair by other people/YouTubers. Slip ups confirming ‘the bed’ ‘the bedroom’ ‘don’t worry guys only I saw Phil’s butt in the mirror not the people on my zoom call” it being known they stayed in a place with 2 bedrooms with another couple in Australia. Posing for naked photos together. One being a literal biological uncle and the other one literally being referred to as a uncle too by the baby’s mother.
The genuine love and affection they have for each other. The way they can’t shut up about the other. Being each others biggest fans. The way they have talked hypothetically about getting a pet together (and had a bloody fish) and the main kicker…. Literally been thinking and designing a FOREVER HOME together since 2017 and now live in it. Together. 😱
If this was a girl & boy no one would think different but bc it’s 2 men people be like… we’ll actually they never said it explicitly so blah blah blah. What a weird heteronormative world some still live in
genuinely yeah. a huge part of it is just straight up homophobia, but i think the average person who doesn't really pay attention to them/is completely unfamiliar with them DOES actually look at all that and take away the idea that they're a couple at this point in time.
i think an aspect of it with people who are the most vehemently "they're just friends" is like. a lot of the time that's coming from people who did follow them at some point in time, who were involved with the fandom—and who now are acting from a place of shame and unfettered cringe over their past actions & making that everyone else's problem.
sometimes it is really funny to me when people Just Don't Get It though like... dan and phil aren't FOR them. it's not about people who don't get it and that's not the audience dan and phil are prioritizing. and i'm utterly fucking delighted for them that they've pulled off this level of ambiguity for so long even after coming out.
So for all those that didn't know Phares as a unit, he was pretty darn sweet. Despite him being ultimately an 'amper', he did solid damage too and helped ailment support, higher than even Valyx's base damage mods, if I recall right (though Valyx's permanent energy ability throws that out ultimately).
While Bondforged Euden came out soon after and stole the show because of his ludicrous damage and the simple fact we finally had a wind Euden (that was locked into Midgardsormr shapeshift no less, fitting with how many jokes revolved around Euden not working well with Mids in his other forms...), I think he would have been a very solid core to most wind teams. Amps and ailment support alone get him far in Iblis, the ailment race that it is.
But his passives were also interesting, like the ability to ultimately say 'no' when he would die. While it triggered a state of fatigue for him in which he was pretty much a sitting duck until you fixed it, it still was a potential save from a run-killer otherwise. Triggering this near save, though, would trigger a special animation too.
I'm admittedly experimenting here since I've never uploaded a video to tumblr before, but hopefully this works. Here it (hopefully!) is:
(I've got no idea why his eyes suddenly look bright blue in the video to me)
And I dunno, I just like the little detail in it like how he seems to be using his left arm in particular to shelter his head and body, because that's where his wyrmscale lies from what we know of it. It only makes sense to use that as an extra layer of armor if it can casually deflect Ranzal attempting to decapitate him with an axe at full force!
And then the way he just looks around after pausing for a bit like, "I survived that? Really?" is fun too. Phares has long been a character striving to live above all else, so the almost vaguely-optimistic look-around he's doing is kinda...sweet in a way? Heck, the passive that grants this effect is called "Thirst for Life"!
All this wrapped up in a very quick animation among the chaos of battle where players aren't zoomed in enough to get the ideal camera angle or detail to see this. It's just a neat little unique animation!
