I originally got into FNaF sometime after the 2nd one came out, I think. Been a fan off-and-on the past many years!
It took me about a year after it was released to actually check out UnderTale. Very glad I did!
I haven't heard many of their songs, but I do like what I've heard from Mother Mother! Body was the first song of theirs that I heard. Ghosting, Hayloft, Verbatim, and Burning Pile are the others I've listened to! I really should check out more of their stuff. Any recommendations?
I watched Steven Universe since the beginning! Very glad I got to see its entire run. I've only missed one episode which was the one where Amethyst got into wrestling.
Sea bunnies and leafy sea sheep are adorable! A lot of other sea slugs also look really pretty :D
The first creepypasta I ever heard was during a phone conversation with an (at the time) friend. She had an app on her tablet which was just a collection of scary stories people uploaded. I forget exactly which one it was, but I did find it later on when I did get into creepypasta readings on YouTube and was like, "Hey, I recognize this one!" Pretty sure the app was called, "Butcher's House of Scary Stories" or something like that.
Oh that's all so cool, I liked hearing you explain about them! hmmmm... Mother Mother songs I'd recommend... let me think
Some I like are Oleander, Love and Truth, Back in School, Let's Fall in Love, Neighour, and Problems
I put them down below if you want to listen to any

So you guys actually wondering why am I not posting anything in this tumblr of what sans I drew or created something with different designs?
I’ll answer this question from you guys because I actually got full stress about creating of each sans I did so I just have to need to use some few characters I did have them in discord so I’ll never forget what they look like so yeah and now I’m starting to do an artwork and some drawings of sonic characters now but sonic.exe of course only it matters for me because if I keep doing that in undertale creations it probably makes you guys feel jealous about why did I have this character or something that you want me to understand something for what does it Belongs to so exactly yeah this will happen to me before in any year so I already took a break from undertale creations and a few Aus I did are actually 3 of them but as the creator of “FatalTale/The spirits of Hell Au” I promise I’ll do my best for you guys to let you guys know what’s going to be next on doing the undertale drawings and some learning comic stuff that I’m not good of so I’m only good at making animations so of course which is yeah I am
what’s going to come out soon about this I’ll tell you about what I was working for so I’m doing the work of animating “KillerTale” with the song names is “Thanatophobia” not “Stronger than you” actually I don’t like to do copy stuff like this or things may going to be wrong so yeah I just like to make a copy things but only for a bit and short

ok so i saw a post suggesting that maybe dess is the narrator of deltarune and/or she’s somehow in the void with gaster which makes sense to me.
but now i’m thinking... if in the japanese translation the way the person (who interrupts gaster during the gonermaker sequence in chapter 1) speaks is exactly how chara speaks,
along with just the regular english translation providing us things like these,
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
where the all-caps text is eerily similar to the speech we associate with gaster and how the properly capitalized text is similar to the speech we associate with chara,
if the chara-esque text within the code and savescreens and such happens to be dess,
then...
either dess just has a speech pattern that almost exactly replicates chara’s for the sake of making things more interesting for fun,
or their parallels don’t end there, and things are going to get wild.
consider where undertale takes place. underground, right? right, and chara is buried where frisk falls, and at that very moment chara is reawakened. maybe not fully like how they are in the no mercy route, but they’re awake.
in deltarune, there’s several instances where there are mentions of ‘hell’s roar bubbling from the depths’ (said word-for-word by jevil in chapter 1). there’s the roaring, with titans rising from below. the prophecy in chapter 1 as told by ralsei also states that “the sky will run black with terror / and the land will crack with fear. / then, her heart pounding... / the earth will draw her final breath.” onion, as well, mentions in the light world in chapter 2 that they hear a song coming from deep below the water.
and given noelle’s angel symbolism (to the point of angels seeming almost antagonistic from ralsei’s telling of the prophecy), this leads me to a few questions.
1. is dess a titan?
2. is dess a demon?
3. is dess roped into gaster’s shenanigans against her will (or by power of persuasion, possibly with a promise to let her return to the light world if she isn’t dead and just went missing from the bunker)?
4. is the song onion hears actually dess singing “don’t forget”?
5. what the fuck
and also this adds onto it all even more:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this might be dess. after all, if the theory that the incident in the woods with the bunker led to her entering a dark world never to be found and leaving kris behind, this would make sense, right? and kris backs away without player input from the school’s closet in chapter 1 when a dark world is first revealed. they seem to be scared or reluctant to go in first.
so tracing back to my talk of dess possibly paralleling chara and noelle having angel symbolism... i don’t know how true the former is if it’s intentional at all on toby’s part. he is a great storyteller with lots of secrets in his games, but he’s not perfect. this might not mean anything. and given that deltarune is separate from undertale, perhaps the ending won’t be so bittersweetly similar, where one sibling is “saved” and the other isn’t.
but... i dunno. it would be interesting.

Undertale/Deltarune Witchcraft Ideas!
I’m very disappointed in the severe lack of UndeRune pop culture spells. Time to fix that.
Heart shaped things are easy to get and inconspicuous! Soul traits make for a great pre-made color association system. Try heart necklaces or even frosted heart-shaped cookies to give yourself a boost in different traits! Also note the movements of the different souls and properties of colored magic (green for healing and protection, cyan not moving while orange has to move, etc) Remember white monster souls, too!
Related to the above, factor in the fallen humans’ equipment (frying pan, torn notebook, glasses, bandana, etc) as altar items or tools in spells.
For curses, you can turn soul traits negative. We’ve seen the downside of determination, but what about turning patience to apathy, kindness to submission, bravery to recklessness, or justice to criticism?
In addition to the souls, call on the positive or negative traits of the characters themselves.
Gaster has tons of potential. He can hide things or make people forget they ever existed. He can also reveal things that have been hidden or forgotten. Great for broom-closet witches!
Monsters are beings of pure magic while humans are physical. They can be used to represent the line between the astral plane and the physical one.
As loyal, artificial beings made from common household objects, Darkners work great for baby’s first familiar or house spirit. Their altar items are easy to hide for broom-closet witches, too. You can even make your own custom Darkner!
Darkners are beings of pure darkness, but they aren’t scary. So you shouldn’t fear the darkness either! Call on a Darkner spirit to help you with shadow work, or just to help you feel safer when you go out at night.
Speaking of which, Undyne is a perfect protective spirit for dangerous situations, or when you just want to intimidate someone.
Flowey. Curses. That is all.
Name the Fallen Human after whatever you want from your spell, and charge it positively or negatively by sparing or killing monsters.
Make a Dark World in a shoe box or closet. Potentially trap someone there, or use it for astral projection and shadow work.
Did you know playing cards can be used as tarot cards? It’s called cartomancy. Call on card-themed Darkners to help you with it, or to represent certain cards in spells. As a side note, Seam and Jevil represent the Magician and the Fool respectively.
Sans can sleep anytime, anywhere. Use him for sleep spells.
Want to bring consequences to someone’s actions? Want to have power over fate? The whole game of Undertale is about just that. Want someone’s choices to not matter at all, leaving them helpless? Just look to Deltarune.
This is a trick I saw in the PokePagan community. Assign meanings to monsters, and try divination based on random encounters. Alternatively, just walk through a small room and interpret being attacked as “no” and not being attacked as “yes.”
The songs of both games are both beautiful and meaningful. Try using a fitting song as the background of a spell!
I’m not quite sure of the practical use, but the concept of timelines in Undertale can be useful for seeing multiple different possibilities in divination. Maybe as a tarot spread?
Jevil has so much curse potential. Want to give someone a shocking revelation of a truth they’ll regret knowing? Want to trap someone alone in the “freedom” of exactly what they thought they wanted? Look no further!
Sans’ karma works great for mirror/justice spells. You can inflict exactly as much harm on someone as they inflict on others, or even reflect some good fortune back on the good people in your life!
There’s an AU for every aesthetic, every specialization, every situation, every practice, every association. Undersail for ocean witches. Outertale for the zodiac. Underfell for curses and protection. Underswap for seeing other perspectives. Dreamtale for dream and sleep spells. Ink and Error for creation and destruction. Hell, even Undertail for sex magic. Go wild!

Fairytale Complex - [Undertale | Sans x Reader]
[Gender Neutral, Frisk's Parent Reader | Slow Burn]
Chapter Nineteen | Temmie Village (Part 2 of 2)
[First] | [Previous] | [Next]
The air conditioner paired up with the sound of the rain against the windshield and the wheels against the wet road quell and soothe both your stress and nausea alike; drowsiness replaces them and allows you to relax with a sigh. It feels odd to have someone driving while you're resting at the back, though there's not much you can do about it. The drag of your steps as you tried to climb into the car even with the help of your co-workers had been sufficient for Papyrus to insist you laid down and for Sans to agree with him. The latter's driving remains slow and careful throughout, strikingly different compared to how he usually was when handling his own vehicle. You assume he's doing it for your sake, until a faint melody you once believed to be coming from the radio turns loud enough to make the car's windows boom and vibrate.
A cheery beat floods your ears, and -- when you sit up straight -- you can see there's what looks like a parade taking place right in the middle of the street. Large tents, plastic ponchos, and colourful umbrellas help shield against the ongoing rain. There's a flower float with Frisk's face on it, along with a cat-dog hybrid standing on top of it, clad in a student uniform and waving a flag with a presumably newly-opened school's logo stamped on it. You recognize the monster from one of the few unbelievable tales -- now facts -- Frisk had told you about, though you can't exactly bring yourself to take in the oddity of that sight. Seeing Temmies walking around and near the float isn't the strange thing, but -- rather -- the fact that there's an entire choir of them marching forward along the streets, singing almost effortlessly to the complex tune of the song. Not only that, but there's another float following behind them, this one promoting free education and advertised by a college graduate -- also a Temmie, with the only noticeable difference from the rest being she's wearing a teacher's suit jacket and a pair of glasses.
Just as you hear the car's signal click left, you spot Frisk amongst the small crowd surrounding the second float. They're sporting a bright yellow raincoat, smiling wide, and with their hand held tight by Toriel's, who stays behind while they wave back at all the Temmies and passerby waving at them. Some drivers stop to take in the scenery while others drive by quickly; what sends alarms off in your head is realizing how exposed Frisk is to the public and how little protection you notice around them.
"Wait," you call out, word blurted. "What's…" Your eyes fix on them and how calm, happy, and carefree they seem regardless of those dangers. A pang of jealousy makes its way to your chest when you see they encourage Toriel to join them, bringing her out of the shadows and into the spotlight. "What's going on?" You try to shake those feelings aside, yet you can't help the persistent and bitter emotion that comes with knowing Toriel had played a major, supportive role in one of Frisk's biggest journeys. She'd been their aid for almost two entire months -- a time when you could only work yourself down to the bone, and stress and cry over your loss, neither of which helped much at the end of it all.
"That was supposed to be one of the surprises, but well…" His voice sounds tense -- as if he's read right through you. "But with what happened, well-"
"It's… It's okay."
You try to calm yourself down.
He didn't need to say anything else.
It wasn't his fault, just as it wasn't Toriel's or anybody else's. You'd refused to take the medicine specifically prescribed for you, and that resulted in you having to occupy a busy friend for no reason other than purposely neglecting something you were supposed to adhere to for the betterment of your health. Toriel was watching over Frisk as she so promised. On a similar note, Papyrus had been more than kind enough to offer you the back seat of his car for you to rest in while you made it somewhere to eat after dropping him off where he needed to be. He accepted the risks of running late simply to agree with Sans on picking you up from work, and he even rejected using your own vehicle to keep it protected from the rain.
What you didn't comprehend was why none of the monsters informed you about this earlier than today.
"I understand this was meant to be a surprise, but…" Your tone falters, though you clear your throat to regain strength. "But why didn't you ask for my permission first -- before letting Frisk take part in something like this?" You stop for a moment. "I- I'm not against it, but after what happened at the bus, I…"
You grab your knees and squeeze them, preventing yourself from getting emotional.
"I fear for their safety." You swallow hard, feeling nausea returning. "If things were different, I wouldn't mind, but they're not. The Surface is too dangerous for them now." Reluctance makes your chest hurt. "I'm not seen as a good parent by many, and then there's that whole thing with CPS and Frisk's custody, and... And now my health, too." You huff and take a breather. "There's just so many things I'm afraid will go wrong, that I… I-"
A familiar warmth covers your face; two hands slip around your waist.
"Easy now," the eldest of the two says. "Else you're gonna end up faintin' again," he adds, well-mannered humour tracing his sentence.
You hold on tight and shudder at the feeling of his face pressing against your collarbones. His head stays there while you settle down; his hands -- conversely -- run up and down your back, attempting to further calm your stress. No other words are said as he remains that way.
At that, you continue with, "I'm afraid of them being this out in the open, a- and even more when I can't be there for them."
You let him go and stare right at him, eager to set things straight.
"It's amazing you're celebrating Frisk's achievements in such a wonderful way, b- but..." A smile shows on your face, conflicted with reluctance you can't avoid and a bitterness you try to shake off. "But I'm their parent, Sans," you add, words strained. "I… I've only known you for a few months, and yet," you say, hesitating, "and yet… You're like this with me. I don't understand how you and others can be this way, s- so quick to trust and befriend, but… I can't be that way. Everything's going too fast, and I need a little more time -- until I figure out what actions I should take as a parent." You grab his hand and squeeze firm at it, smiling again afterwards, a bit more honest than before. "I'm eternally grateful for everything so far, but… Please don't forget I'm still Frisk's main guardian, e- even after all that." Notwithstanding, your smile doesn't last long. "Maybe I'm bitter, or maybe I really do have the right to feel angry about this, but either way... I need to be careful." A pause and a breath. "And I acknowledge I'm not the best parent, but… But I still need to prioritize Frisk's safety before everything else."
Sans nods and squeezes your hand back. "I'll let others know about this too, then -- If that's alright with you, 'course."
Your smile returns. "That would be nice."
"Would you feel better knowing there's a protective barrier surrounding the parade?" Papyrus intervenes, helping ease out the mood.
He's now sitting behind the wheel, replacing Sans while he stays with you by the back seat. His driving is much more careful, yet his speed is quicker now that the parade's left more space for him to pass through. "We haven't turned a blind eye to this situation either, (L/N)," he says, looking at you from the rear-view mirror. "Frisk's safety is just as important as their happiness!"
You look to his side and later at the parade, staring more closely to notice the reason for Frisk's raincoat still being intact is a barrier similar to Sans's magic, though of a different colour compared to his.
"We were going to inform you after you clocked out of work, but…"
You let out a chuckle -- more defeated than anything else. "I apologize for that, then." You bring a hand to the back of your neck and rub at it. "I've been... reckless, as of late."
"Why's that?" he asks, sounding just as intrigued as Sans looks.
"I haven't been taking care of myself like I should. If I were, things wouldn't be like this. I... I would've been healthy, and Sans would've told me about this. I was irresponsible with my health, and now I'm bothering others to help me with something that could've been avoided."
Your confession is followed up by a sharp inhale and a shudder as you then add, "I haven't done anything to change how many hours and days I work every week, now that I don't need to do that as much, and…" You hesitate. "And I haven't been taking the doctor's orders that seriously, either." Your hands return to your knees, where you squeeze tight enough to almost hurt yourself in the process. "I don't want to grow dependent on them -- the medicines prescribed to me. I'm… I'm afraid of them changing who I am, and… And I just don't want to risk the possibility of affecting Frisk because of this, either."
Sans grabs your attention by holding your hand again, more careful than when you went to squeeze at his. "You should let the doctor know, then. If you're scared of what that stuff'll do to you, the best you can do's ask her about it." He lets go, giving you space to breathe. "She could keep your doubts in mind, and maybe tell you to visit her if that new treatment does you more harm than good with time."
You don't acknowledge you've made it to Papyrus's stop until you see him set the shift on parking. The cheery music's now fainter, and the parade can still be seen when you look back. The only difference is the change in scenery, as you now stand in front of what looks like a culinary university, large, tacky, and colourful banners promoting the acceptance of the monster population into their campus. "I need to go now, but…" He smiles, almost as bright as the sun shining behind the rain clouds. "We can discuss more later, if you'd like!"
You smile back and wave goodbye; he steps outside after that and walks off, leaving Sans to give you one final glance before going back to the front seat.
While he adjusts, you observe Papyrus from a distance, who's now making his way to the line at the entrance gates of the university.
"So…"
At that sound, you face the mirror and meet Sans's gaze.
"Where to?" he asks. "And don't say home, 'cuz I know you ain't eaten yet."
"What's easiest for you," you reply, fixing your posture. "You've already done enough."
He stays parked to turn to your side.
"Doesn't mean we can't talk more about it," he says, "It's your right as a parent to set boundaries and all that, but you really do need to take better care of yourself, (Y/N). Not just for Frisk's benefit, but for yourself, too." He sighs, turns back to the wheel, and grasps it tighter, continuing after with, "And I acknowledge I also failed to do my part, 'cuz -- like you said it yourself -- you shoulda known about this stuff sooner than today. Surprise or not, I coulda hinted at it. I promised I'd keep you informed, after all." Recognition flashes in his irises, and he stops for a minute. "That being said, we've gotta finish up the rest of that tour soon -- It's been a while."
"Don't remind me, teddy bear." You grin and slump on your seat, huffing afterwards. "There's so much stuff to do, I don't even know where to start."
"Tell me about it." He lets a broad smile show through and spares a quick glance at the mirror to wink at you. "Wouldn't really complain over another day like the one at the hotel."
You look away and hide your grin, feeling it widen. "...I'll keep that in mind, then."

“So,” the skeleton says, hands slipping under the table. An awkward stiffness overcomes his shoulders, and his gaze takes a while to meet with yours. “You heard about it from her first, huh?”
You gulp some water, needing to cool off.
“Yes,” you reply, grabbing the medicine out of your belongings. The headache’s still going strong, even after having ended work an hour ago. “Are you really working an office job now? ...What about your other job?” Catching on to how invasive you’re being, you take another sip to bring the pills down and breathe in deep. “Sorry if it seems like I’m being nosy, but… I just want to know if you quit selling hot dogs because of me.” It’s a strange sentence no matter how you look at it, and even more so when you consider the on and off romantic relationship you share with the monster; or to put it bluntly: a friend with benefits -- or a man-friend, as your godmother had so accused him of. “I… I feel like I’m responsible for this, so I’d really like to know.”
Sans grins, takes his drink, and swirls it around. “And that’s exactly why I didn’t wanna tell you yet.” He sets it down and breaks eye contact with you to retrieve something from his suitcase. When he finds the item, he places it on the table, revealing a yellow folder about as thick as the menu left beside you, open to display an array of desserts, one you'd tried the evening before you stayed with him at the hotel, and the other you had today as a way to make an impromptu meeting with him about what happened earlier with Brenda's own fair share of invasiveness. “I know it seems way too coincidental, but I really am workin’ in an office now.”
You pick up the folder, set it in front of you, and keep a hand over it.
“It’s about that thing Tori wants to talk about with you.” He tugs at his jacket’s sleeve; that sight makes you take in the oddity of his looks right now: wearing a suit and tie. He’s like a whole other person today. The main two things that remind you he’s still the same as before are his low voice and mellow personality. Even his posture and body language are different, as if to match with the formality of his attire. “Open it,” he adds, facing your eyes again. “It’ll kinda spoil the surprise she has for you, but I think I owe you a better explanation after what happened today."
You consider his words and eye him for a moment. While he has a more proper posture, the monster’s the same one you met months ago. He’s still himself -- formal wear or not. “It’s… It's alright,” you say, smiling. “I’ll wait until Saturday.”
Tension seems to let him go, yet he still replies with, “You can open it, really. Tori said it was fine, and that she could use the extra time this saves up to take you somewhere with her.”
“...Is it really okay?” You pull your hand back from the folder, emphasizing your words.
Sans nods, sighing the rest of his rigidity away. “Go ahead.”
Doing as told, you tear it open as carefully as you’re capable of, preventing potential damage to the documents waiting inside. From there, you retrieve a single sheet of paper first, its texture rough and giving out at being far more important than all the other files found under it. You turn it around. The words ‘Frisk (L/N)’ and ‘student’ instantly pair up and click into your mind. There’s a school under Toriel’s name written down, along with a print of its logo and motto -- the former you recognize from the parade.
“I…”
You can’t find the proper words to say to him. It worsens when you decide to take a peek at another document, seeing your name right in the middle. It's not as thick as the previous paper, but it still holds potential for a new future. Besides Toriel's stamp of approval and a small paragraph stating the terms, a single, empty line waits for you at the bottom. Your signature's the only thing missing for the agreement to be made.
“This is…” You shudder out a gasp, almost forgetting to breathe.
The skeleton breaks the ice, saying, “Tori’s school finally got approved, and she was thinking of havin' you and Frisk in it.” You face to his side, holding back a flinch when you notice he’s moved closer to you; the table helps keep some distance between you, fortunately. “Whaddya say, (Y/N)?” he asks. “You don’t have to answer right away, but… Just know the offer’s up, and that we see you guys as a family.”
You hoist yourself over the table and reach out for a hug, using that to replace any words you could possibly direct to the monster in front of you. He returns it, maintaining his hold on you until you break it apart -- a bit complicated to do when you notice you’re letting yourself get sentimental again. That allows your mind to drift back to the past and the more recent memory of Brenda’s visit.
“Thank you...” Your words come off in a murmur, lacking anything to say even now.
You sniffle to restrain the emotions forming up inside, from disbelief and contentment, to melancholy and excitement. Were this a movie and were you on closer terms with the monsters, you would’ve imagined kissing the one in front of you in the sheer spur of the moment. Unresolved tension and personal limitations team up to delay any progress of that kind with him. “So you... I take it you’re in charge of keeping finances in order while her school finally opens?” you ask, changing the topic. You need time to think -- just like he’d mentioned. Having Frisk study in Toriel’s school didn’t seem like a bad choice if you were going to be paying for it, and if it would help bring more word out about her school. You working there was a wholly different story, finding the offer a bit too good to be true. It wasn't because of the goat lady, but rather due to it feeling like you were straight-up taking advantage of her and all the other monsters’ kindness.
“Precisely,” he replies, grinning.
His expression freezes up, and it’s only when he sits back down that it loosens. The proximity left between you after the hug's kept itself present without you acknowledging it by full. “I can work the numbers fast, so that way Alphys can focus more on plannin' out the structure and how science class will be laid out, since we all wanna leave things runnin' well before we can start employin' any other monsters.” He meets your eyes again and winks. “And of course, any cute human who’s willing to help us out.”
You glance away, feeling your face turn warm. “I'll… I’ll think about it.” Then, you look back to him; a question pops into your thoughts. “But what service could I provide you with? I've only got an Associate's in Business with what, well... happened in the past.”
“You say that like it’s nothing," he replies, chuckling. “You could easily take up three different positions with those preparations you've got.” Then, he sits back and takes the check when a bunny waitress arrives with it. “You’ll see what I mean when you talk with Tori this Saturday. Can’t really keep spoilin’ the surprise for you anymore.”
Beat to it, you put your wallet away and shift on your seat. “Alright,” you say, taking the folder with you. “But could I still make it up to you somehow? I know Brenda can be a bit, well... tough to handle, so it's only fair for me to do this."
“I’m perfectly fine meeting up like this. And she came by right as I was about to clock out, so I’d tell you it’s no big deal, but…" He trails off to stare at you, done with paying up. "If this's a crafty excuse for us to keep on hangin' out, then I'm all on board with it, puddin'."

👀 little teeny tiny crack fic of undertale drumbot? i need to see this ahdgfjdjksjhg
Hey the tiny lil crack fic inspired by this post (btw @sorrowsunny look at the thing I did) ended up being... not so little. Enjoy!
***
The Drumbot was one of Carmilla's more... interesting experiments. Which, Nastya knew from personal experience, was saying something. After his Incident, the only part Carmilla had been able to save was his heart and a file download of his personality, which she had altered to her will before inserting. And for all Carmilla was a scientist, she wasn't an engineer.
To put it bluntly (and that was for the best, Nastya didn't do well beating around the bush), Carmilla had shoved the Drumbot's heart and file into a metal contraption made of a clock, and he was forced to wander around on a spinning wheel with two metal balls at the end of his 'arms' and a screen that was perhaps meant to serve as his face.
The hat on top of his box was a nice touch, though.
The Drumbot's new body (if you could even call it that) made it hard for him to do the things he used to. His 'handballs', as Raphaella had called them (causing Ashes to spit out their drink, but the name stuck) were magnetic, could become electrified upon will, had laser and blacklight capabilities, and could play any song the Drumbot could think of. The only problem then was that Carmilla forgotten to add fingers. And as it was, she met her unfortunate and completely accidental end before she could do anything about that fact. Which meant, of course, that the Drumbot came to Nastya.
"You want... my help?" she asked after listening to his request. "I don't know a thing about biology. That's Raphaella's area."
The light square on the Drumbot's screen moved to the bottom left corner, which might have been his equivalent of not meeting her eyes. "She scares me," he said after a moment, robotic voice monotone but somehow still conveying shame.
"...You do know you can't die, right? What do you think she'll do to you?"
"Look what she and Carmilla did to Doctor Pilchard."
"You can't prove anything," Nastya said, probably too quickly. "That being said, I.... see your point. Will you let me run a diagnostic on you first? You know, look you over, maybe glance at your code? That way I can make sure I won't break you."
Two new glowing blocks showed up on the screen. Was he... blushing?
"Sure," he said after a pause too long. Helios, was Nastya going to have to explain how completely and utterly gay she was? Maybe she could just have Aurora lock the Drumbot in his room for a few centuries- he'd have to forget about any crush by then.
Nastya shook her head, telling herself to focus. There would be time for that later, and she had been dying to check out the Drumbot's tech.
"Sit here," she said, pointing at a spot on the floor. They were in her engineering room, and she always worked leaning against the wall or by crawling under or in things, and so saw no need for chairs. Brian sat, if you were using a loose definition of the term. His stick? Leg? robotic pole folded, so that he was hovering a bit lower than before."Good. Now, can I check your back? Carmilla had a love for hidden compartments."
He nodded, and she ran a hand over his back, searching for the hidden cavity where Carmilla would have placed the port. Her fingers caught on a latch, and she pulled it open with a grin.
There was the port, with the drive sticking out proudly. And, right beside it, was a little silver switch labeled on one side EJM and on the other side, where it currently rested, MJE.
Now, let us all be clear. Nastya wasn't the type to go pressing big red buttons just to see what they do- that was more Jonny's expertise. And Ashes'. And Tim's. And Ivy's, and Raph's, and- Okay, maybe it was her that was the outlier.
That being said, this wasn't a big red button. This was a switch. And no self respecting engineer can resist a switch.
The metal moved easily beneath her finger. And for a long moment, nothing happened.
Then metallic golden smoke started pouring out from little vents in the Drumbot's handballs, and ukulele music began from somewhere she couldn't see. Two projectiles flung themselves from wherever in his box they had been hiding, and Nastya let out a yelp as she ducked for cover.
The Drumbot made that might have been a shriek, if he had the vocal range, and raised his smoking hands to his box like he was trying to hold his head.
Nastya tripped over herself trying to back away. Her eyes dartwd between him and the two little drones circling above him. It didn't matter, really- they were quickly obscured by the gas. A mask dropped from the ceiling, and Nastya shoved it over her mouth and nose, silently thanking her amazing girlfriend.
The smoke filled the room entirely now, obscuring everything. She didn't even know where the door was. No escape, then. She pressed herself against the wall, watching where the Drumbot had been.
Out of the fog, two beams of light appeared, shining towards the middle of the mass. The drones, the logistical part of her mind said. The other parts of her mind watched in mute terror at whatever Carmilla had done, whatever Nastya had done.
A voice- not the monotone of the Drumbot, but an actual voice- emerged from the mass.
"Now the party's arrived."
Aurora's ventilation finally kicked on, clearing the gas from the room. Little by little, the Drumbot was revealed.
Or what had been the Drumbot, anyway.
Because standing in the middle of the room was a man made of metal. He stood, one hand holding his hat (the Drumbot's hat) and the other held dramatically behind him, sweeping open his coat. His eyes met Nastya's, and he sent her a charming smile.
"I see you know how to have a good time," he said, still posed dramatically. The spotlights reflected off his metal skin, and a part of Nastya tucked very far away made to swoon. She hit that part with a shovel and shoved it behind a locked door in her mind.
"Drumbot?" she asked uncertainly, finally lowering her mask. Now that she could see him better, she saw the clear panel in the center of his chest. Under the glass lay a bright red heart, pulsing steadily.
"The one and only." He swirled his hand and bowed deeply. "Well, sort of. Apparently Carmilla split me in two."
"And you- box you- didn't tell us why?"
"Because it would cause you stress, and I'm not fond of causing stress in that state. The means simply didn't justify the ends."
Nastya was smart- scary smart. And she had known Carmilla better than anyone except Jonny, had listened to many a rant about what makes someone human. Every mechanism had been a test to that- am I still human without a heart, blood, lungs, eyes, the list went on. Eventually Carmilla had come to a conclusion, an answer. She found out what made them human- really human- and poked it with a stick.
"Your morality," she said with realization. "The switch altered your morality?"
"Exactly. I'm the fun Brian." He sent her another grin- who smiled that much?- before a thought seemed to strike him. "The fun Drumbot? No, I like my name. Is it even my name now, if I'm only a heart?"
"Drumbot Brian," Nastya suggested quickly. Philosophy always gave her a headache. "Are you going to do that... smoky thing every time you switch?"
"What? Oh, no. That was a one time thing. The spotlights get to stay though. Hey, we can even use them for our performances!" His face lit up as he thought, and Nastya felt herself relax a fraction. "We would need more, of course. A lot more. Huh." Their eyes met once again, and in a split moment he had a gun pointed at her.
"Let me give you a lesson," he said. "I'm Ends Justify Means. That means the thing I want- the ends- are worth whatever I have to do for it. So! I want more spotlights, and you're an engineer. That means I'm perfectly willing to hold you at gunpoint and slash or shoot you to make it happen. Get it?"
He pulled the hammer on the gun back, and Nastya felt herself relax all the way. He would fit right in.

tumblr user suzyundertale makes a post about Suzy from Undertale
Suzy masterpost, because people need to pay more attention to Suzy. This is not a theory post, but more of a collection of information on what we currently know about the Undertale character Suzy. Of course, due to the nature of Suzy as a very mysterious character, there will be slight speculation, but hopefully it’s clear what is canon and what isn’t.
Section One: The Beginning
When Undertale first released, there was very little that we knew of the character “Suzy”. Even less than what we know now, which is impressive. The only connection we had to her was word of mouth from an NPC with no name, but known in the files simply as “clamgirl”, found in Waterfall if your “Fun” value is between 80 and 89.
When you first talk to her, she says the following:
* I'm visiting Waterfall from the city. * Synchronicity...? * My neighbor's daughter looks about your age. * Her name is "Suzy." * I feel like you two should be friends. * You have... * A neighbor's blessing!!!
(”Suzy” here is written in yellow text.)
Talking to her a second time:
* Not knowing where I live is no issue. * Fate finds a way.
And, finally, talking to her post-pacifist:
* So you never became friends with my neighbor's daughter. * Don't despair. * This world has infinite opportunities. * But there's a limit to the things you can do. * Accepting this is healthy. * Take my neighbor's blessing! * And consider this blessing for anything you like!
(She has more dialogue, but this is all that you really need to know.)
Section Two: The Patch
In January of 2016, a couple weeks after Toby made (and subsequently deleted) a tweet about he wanted to “start something else” in 2016, a something which we now know to be Deltarune, Undertale received its first major update - version 1.01.
Here’s the relevant information.
Toby made two very, very minor changes to Clamgirl’s post-pacifist dialogue. Here is the new dialogue, with changes bolded:
* So you never met my neighbor's daughter. * Don't despair. * This world has infinite opportunities. * But there's a limit to the things you can do today. * Accepting this is healthy. * Take my neighbor's blessing! * And consider this blessing for anything you like!
He changed “became friends with” to “met” - emphasizing the fact that Suzy is not a character you can meet in Undertale.
He also added the word “today”, to emphasize the fact that this does not mean Frisk will never be able to meet Suzy.
This wasn’t the only Suzy-related thing in the version 1.01 patch, however. The patch added a well-known line of dialogue to the lab behind Sans and Papyrus’ house. Normally, when you examine a certain drawer in the lab, you get this dialogue:
* (There's a photo album inside the drawer.) * (There are photos of Sans with a lot of people you don't recognize.) * (He looks happy.)
However, from version 1.01 onward, if you examine this drawer after having spoken to Clamgirl, you will get this dialogue instead:
* (There's a photo album inside the drawer.) * (There are photos of... Huh?) * (A card is sticking out from the back flap of the binder.) * (It's a poorly drawn picture of three smiling people.) * (Written on it...) * "don't forget."
Again, I’d like to emphasize that this dialogue only appears if you’ve spoken to Clamgirl, if you know who Suzy is. In this way, the phrase “Don’t forget” is intrinsically linked to Suzy.
So, from all of this, we can gather a few things about this mysterious “Suzy” character.
She is a girl around Frisk’s age.
She lives in the capital.
She has at least one parent (who happens to be Clamgirl’s neighbor.)
Frisk is, apparently, fated to meet her.
Despite this, it is impossible to meet Suzy in Undertale.
Sans’ photo album will have a card reading “don’t forget” only if you know who Suzy is.
Section Three: Fast Approaching
Did you think that was the only Undertale update that added cryptic Suzy-related dialogue?? Guess again!
Fast-forward to September 2018. Undertale has just been released on Nintendo Switch! Almost immediately, it is discovered that the Switch version added this:
youtube
(excuse me posting my own video, but it’s really the best one on youtube...(side note; i’m not sure if she’s actually supposed to reappear when you exit and re-enter the room, that might be a side effect of me poorly emulating the game))
Anyway, this is what happens post-pacifist in the Switch version if your fun value is exactly 81. If it’s 82-89, Clamgirl has her regular dialogue from v1.01.
The Switch version of Undertale came out September (15 in Japan, 18 everywhere else) 2018 - A month and a half before the release of Chapter 1 of Deltarune. In hindsight, it’s obviously foreshadowing - but when you think about it, foreshadowing what?
A month later, we play Deltarune, and meet a brand new character named Susie. Not Suzy. (More on that distinction in a bit.) If that’s the case, why did Clamgirl claim that we were going to meet Suzy very soon?
Well, the answer is that we don’t know.
It’s important to consider what Clamgirl says from an in-universe standpoint. It’s easy to take this line as Clamgirl talking directly to us, the player, since she’s clearly hinting towards Deltarune - but in actuality, in the game, in-universe, she’s talking to Frisk. She’s telling Frisk that they’re going to meet Suzy very soon. It’s possible that, when it comes down to it, what Clamgirl said might not apply to us at all.
Section Four: Deltarune
In October 2018, Toby Fox not only released an entire demo for an entire new video game, but a video game with a major character named Susie. Not Suzy, but Susie???? What’s going on?
Since Deltarune seems to have an alternate universe thing going on, some people believe that Susie is simply the Deltarune universe’s version of Suzy. This is definitely a possibility, but there is also reason to believe that this may not be the case.
Deltarune also introduces a new character named Catti, who is Catty’s little sister. Like Suzy and Susie, their names are pronounced the same, but spelled slightly differently. This could be hinting at the difference between the two.
As it stands, however, we currently do not know the relation between Suzy and Susie, or if any even exists.
In any case, it is likely that Suzy will be a major part of the story of Deltarune, as the main theme of the game is called “Don’t Forget”.
Bonus: A Comment From Toby
To my knowledge, the only time that Toby has ever publicly spoken about Suzy is in this tweet, since deleted (not specifically, but because Toby wiped all his tweets before a certain date), from nine days after Undertale’s release:
Tumblr media
Unfortunately, since we’ve lost the context, it’s difficult to know who exactly “yellow kid” refers to here. The tweet was most likely in response to speculation regarding Suzy’s identity. Since Suzy’s name is written in yellow when Clamgirl speaks about her, some people assumed that Suzy may be associated with the color yellow. “Yellow kid” could be referring to Monster Kid, Frisk, or the yellow human soul. (I’ve heard people say before that this tweet is specifically in response to people speculating about Monster Kid being Suzy, but I don’t know how true that is. If anyone has any proof of this claim, let me know!)
Conclusion
Generally, when you’re writing an analysis of a character, you’re able to say more than three facts about them. There is very little we can say about Suzy, however, without delving into pure baseless speculation. Hell, we know more about Gaster, who is generally regarded as the mysterious Undertale character.
It’s very likely that we will learn more about Suzy in the future, but right now, we don’t have much to go on. However, that also means we’re free to speculate pretty much anything we want. Essentially, until proven otherwise, Suzy is whoever you want her to be..!

(Part One) I Want to Forget
Yellow again everybody!!! Guess who’s back? Sorry for the long delay in another oneshot, this year has been a bit stressful recently for everybody. As always, I bring to you some Dream Angst, which is apparently my specialty.
ALSO! I’ll say this here, and then again in the warnings. This oneshot involves Rape, and while it’s not shown explicitly, it is there enough to make a big appearance.
Fandom: Undertale, but specifically Dreamtale
Characters: Nightmare, Dream (Who belong to Joku), Original Character
Warnings: Implied Rape, some self harm, some self deprecation and I think that’s it? Pleas let me know!
Word Count: 2749
(Also, if you want to know the songs Nightmare sings in this, they are Here and Here. Happy reading!)
~oOo~
Dream sighed and swirled the drink around in his hand. The ice clinked against the glass and he propped his head on his arm, sighing. Someone shouted something in the background and he winced as the crowd cheered, the music becoming louder as it built up for a drop.
He was in an AU that he hadn’t learned the name of. Ink hadn’t let him know where they were going when he dragged him through a portal, through the streets and to this bar. He had said something about coming to unwind and have fun, as Dream had apparently been ‘no fun’ recently. Although, it was kind of pointless of that talk coming from someone who didn’t actually care about his job.
Anyways, Ink had left about an hour ago. Dream suspected that he had drunk too much and eventually forgot about the friend he dragged along. It was fine. It had happened before. Usually, Dream would just leave on his own after he noticed that.
He didn’t know why he was staying this time.
He stared at his drink. Maybe it was because he knew that Ink was right. He had been working himself rather hard recently. Nightmare had been attacking AUs left and right and while Dream understood the point of it—to help maintain the balance—he didn’t know why his brother killed people. Hurting people kept the balance enough. Death was pointless.
He sighed. At this rate, he was just going to get himself down. Wasn’t that the opposite of relaxing/winding down? Stifling a bitter laugh at himself, he raised his glass and took a sip. He sighed in satisfaction as the water cooled his throat and cleared his head a bit.
Yes, it was water. He wasn’t too keen on alcohol, no matter how little something contained of it. He had never been. That’s not to say he had never drunk before, though. No, the villagers had made him try some of their mead at one point (even if he was still barely 300 years old). It had been rather bitter, so he never got used to the taste. He turned down any other attempts at trying it.
The stool to the right of him creaked suddenly and he looked up. A male human smiled at him warmly, setting down his own bottle of beer. The human seemed to be a young adult, with wavy blonde hair and some stubble around his mouth. He had green eyes that seemed to sparkle a brighter colour when the light hit them. He wore a simple t-shirt and Dream could guess that the rest of his outfit was simple too.
“Heya,” the human said, “you’re Dream, right?”
Dream blinked. It was true that almost every AU knew of the outcodes and their jobs, though rarely were they ever approached. People usually viewed them as a sort of god, which discouraged them from approaching. Yet, this human seemed to not get the memo.
Realizing that he was being a bit rude by not responding, Dream hurriedly smiled and stuck out a hand. “A-ah, yes! That’s me.”
The human laughed and shook his hand gladly. He had a firm yet gentle grip. “Cool! The name’s Jake.” Their hands slid back to their owners. He fixed Dream with a sort of teasing look as he took a swig of his drink. “So, what’s the Guardian of Positivity doing in a bar all by himself.”
Dream’s smile melted into something more natural. “Well, I was with Ink, but he left me here a while ago.”
Jake sighed, lowering his drink. “Aw man, that sucks! I know what it’s like to be left behind by friends before.” His eyes conveyed so much sincerity that Dream found himself becoming even more relaxed. “I’m sorry that it happened to you.”
Dream shook his head. “It’s fine. It’s, uh…it’s happened before, so I’m used to it.”
Jake frowned further. “Still. No one deserves to be left behind.”
“True.”
They talked for a long time. Dream learned a lot about Jake in this time, though Jake did tend to ramble, realize he was rambling, apologize and then ramble again. Dream didn’t mind. He found it nice that Jake was acting like Dream was just another person, instead of basically a god. Dream, in turn, talked about the other worlds he’s seen and what exactly his job is.
Jake had just been wrapping up explaining why he decided to become a lawyer hen he went to take another swig of his drink and frowned when he realized it was empty. “Darn.” He said, standing up to go get another drink when he paused. “Hey, do you want me to get you a refill, too?”
Dream blinked and looked at his drink. His glass was empty save for some ice. “Oh, uh…It’s fine. I was just having water, anyways.”
Jake smiled. “C’mon.” He tilted his head, looking imploringly at Dream. “I’ll get you some more water?”
Dream hesitated. “…alright.”
Jake beamed, taking his glass. “Great! Be right back.” He turned and walked over to the bar, set the drinks down and waved over a bartender.
Dream laughed softly to himself, looking around. The music had faded a while ago, which he just now noticed. There was a significant decrease in people too. That made Dream pause and wonder how long he had been talking to Jake. Was it long enough that Ink and Blue would’ve noticed? Maybe. But they knew that Dream could take care of himself, so they would probably wait a bit longer yet.
Jake returned at that time, stopping Dream from continuing his thoughts. He smiled and took his water, immediately taking a sip, following by Jake taking a sip of his own drink. They set their drinks down at the same time, sighing in sync. They blinked at each other and giggled.
They resumed talking about anything. It was nice, Dream mused, talking with someone new. He was glad that Jake decided to approach him. Even if they would likely never see each other again, it would be a nice memory to look back on.
(Future Dream looks back on this thought and laughs at how foolish he was.)
Dream was recounting a story of Ink’s antics to him when it happened.
“…so, I had to chase him through various AU’s until I eventually—” The room suddenly began to spin around him and Dream gasped slightly, trying to hold himself upright. His eyes gained a heaviness to them and he struggled to keep them open.
“Dream?” He heard Jake through the haze of his mind. He sounded concerned. Dream focused on the human, who had put a steadying hand on his arm. “Are you alright?”
Dream struggled to speak. “I…I d’know.” He blinked at his own voice. It was slurred. He could’ve sworn that he had been wide awake all day, though, so why was he now, all of a sudden, so sleepy?
He dimly heard Jake swear and get up, bracing Dream against his body. “Okay, uh…maybe it’s just a crash? You did say you had been working pretty hard and sleeping little, so maybe it’s just a crash of not getting enough sleep.”
Dream blinked and felt himself being nudged off of the stool and onto his feet. His knees threatened to buckle beneath him, but Jake’s arm wrapped around his waist, the other held his arm and the human maneuvered them to the door. Someone shouted at them and Jake shouted something back before they left the building.
The world outside was darkening as they walked, though that could just be Dream beginning to pass out. Jake was still talking as they walked and he made out something about taking Dream home to rest. Since Jake couldn’t travel between AU’s, he must mean his house. That was fine. He trusted Jake.
(Stupid, stupid, stupid stupid stupidstupidstupi—)
Dream was helped into the passenger seat of a car and then the world went dark.
~oOo~
Dream woke up on a bed that wasn’t his, his mind muddled. He blinked hard, struggling to keep his eyes open. The room swam around him, even though he could only see black.
He was…confused.
The last thing he remembered was talking with…Jake. Then he had started to get dizzy…or…sleepy, one of the two, maybe even both. Jake had…said something about…taking him home? As Jake couldn’t teleport through AUs and Dream wasn’t at his home, then Jake must’ve meant his home.
…Why?
He supposed it could be out the kindness of Jake’s heart, but something about this situation rubbed him the wrong way. Which was stupid
(He was stupid—)
—Jake had been nothing but nice to him! Why would that all of a sudden change? He was being stupid. Jake was a good guy. He was kind, funny and helpful, if the concern over Dream was anything to go by.
He was overthinking things again.
Everything was fine!
After all—
He…couldn’t move his hands.
Well, he could, but he couldn’t bring them down from where they were…tied to the headboard? He tried to look up at them, squinting through the darkness to see what was holding him. He couldn’t see anything, no matter how hard he tried, but it felt like…rope.
He settled back down and tried to breathe calmly through the sudden tightness of his chest.
Okay. Okay…
This was…not…fine, exactly, but there had to be a reason for this!
Dream refused to believe anything else.
The door—which was apparently across from him—opened, letting light into the room for a split second before it was closed again. There was a faint click. The door was…locked. This did not help to subdue the tightness in his chest. Someone walked around the room, saying nothing as they made their way towards Dream.
The tightness in his chest grew.
Dream swallowed.
This was…
This was still…fine.
(It wasn’t, not really—)
There…there still had to be a reason for this.
(There wasn’t—)
The bed dipped beside Dream and he felt someone crawl above him. There wasn’t any more movement for a second. Then the person buried their head against Dream’s neck, a sound almost like a purr coming from them.
Dream’s breath caught in his throat.
Something itched at the back of his mind.
When the door was first opened, and light illuminated the room, it also illuminated the person. It was a short window of time, yes, but it had been enough for Dream to recognize the blond-haired individual. He hadn’t asked then because he had been hoping for this to not be real, that it was all just a dream. It wasn’t.
After all, dreams don’t have someone touching you without your consent.
That was more like a…nightmare.
However, it wasn’t just a figment of his imagination.
Dream wasn’t asleep.
That…that was a fact.
“…Jake…?” Dream managed to whisper; a small bit of hope left remaining that he was wrong. Though…he knew it was useless. The hand that had begun travelling across his chest paused and hovered in place for a minute.
Which was all the answer he needed.
Tears welled up in Dream’s eyes, spilling over silently as the hand of someone he was just beginning to call a friend began up again, travelling down and under his shirt, brimming with bad intentions.
~oOo~
Dream woke back up again on the same bed, his hands untied and light coming from the window. He had a split second of confusion, of relieve from not remembering what happened, before it all came back.
Tears welling up and spilling over—
A hand crawling over him, under his shirt—
Stripping him of his clothes—
Travelling down, down, down, down—
His lower half hurt.
Dream laid there for a minute, the tightness coming back in his chest. His hands began to tremble. Ghost touches travelled over him and his breath caught, leaving him gasping for air. A whine started in the back of his throat.
He had to leave.
He had to get out, get home.
Get somewhere safe.
Dream sat up quickly, trembling spreading to the rest of his body. He ignored the stains to the best of his abilities, his lower half throbbing in remembrance. He forced himself to breathe fully. Pushing himself to swing his legs off the bed, he stood up, ignoring the shakiness of his legs that threatened to make him collapse.
His breath caught again as the soreness appeared again.
He…he couldn’t do this now.
He had to get out.
He would have time to panic later.
He breathed in. Out.
In. Out.
Dream’s gaze was drawn to the dresser, where his clothes rested. They were neatly folded and seemed to be washed. Beside the clothing was a tray of food, along with a glass of water. Just seeing the food made his stomach churn and the water brought unbidden memories of trickery and laughter.
Tears welled up again and—
Breathe. In. Out.
In. Out.
I-In…Out…
Dream shook his head roughly, digging his fingers in his arm until his breathing settled again.
He gathered his clothes and got dressed quickly.
In…Out…
He ignored the pain when he put his pants back on.
…I-In?...
His hands trembled worse as he put his shirt back on and clasped his cape over it.
…O…u-ut…I-I…n…
A sob ripped its way out of his mouth and Dream broke.
He collapsed to the ground, crying and whining, breathing sped up, hand pressed against his mouth to try and quiet himself. He curled up against the dresser, his crown tipping off the edge onto the floor in front of him. Dream cringed at the clang of the metal with the floor, the sound too loud for him right now.
He ducked his head down until his forehead pressed against his knees. The hand that wasn’t on his mouth gripped onto his cape tightly, as if if he held on tight enough, all of this would go away.
He sobbed again, another whine making its way out and—
Humming.
No, not humming, singing.
Someone was…singing.
At first, Dream had the overwhelming fear that it was Jake. Jake, who did something so unthinkable, had come back singing some stupid song. Though, the voice was too deep to be Jake's. He would also like to think that it was too nice to be Jake’s, as well.
So…it wasn’t Jake. That made him relax slightly.
His hearing levelled out, the ringing that had appeared calming down and becoming background noise, leaving the words clear.
“…he took the heart of a little boy, and made it grow up too fast…”
Dream relaxed further.
This voice was…familiar.
“Now words like innocence, don’t mean a thing.”
It reminded him of waking up to someone’s arms wrapped around him, comforting words being whispered as he recovered from the horrible images his mind made up as he slept. It reminded him of running around and tagging someone, only to be tackled and tickled until he could barely breathe anymore.
“You hear the music play, but you can’t sing.”
It reminded him…of Nightmare.
“Those pictures in your mind keep you locked up inside your past…”
The voice paused. He switched to a different song.
“I know it’s all you’ve got to just be strong…”
Dream opened his eyes, though he didn’t remember closing them.
“And it’s a fight just to keep it together…together…”
His companion switched back to humming.
Dream took that as his queue to look up.
Ah…so that’s why it was…that made sense.
Nightmare sat in front of him, back leaned up against the dresser. His legs were stretched in front of him. Dream’s crown was held in his hands, being swung around and around. It stilled as Dream watched.
Dream drew his eyes up to meet Nightmare’s one piercing eye.
They stared at each other for a minute.
Then, Dream saw it. That one look in Nightmare’s eye, one that reflected his aura. It was…a knowing look. Not a pitying one, not a sympathetic one, just a knowing one.
Which was the only one Dream needed.
Tears welled up in his eyes again.
Nightmare started singing again.
“Just take…one step…closer…put one foot in front of the other…”
Nightmare set Dream’s crown down beside him and held out his arms.
“…You’ll get…through this…just follow the light in the darkness…”
Dream sobbed again and threw himself into his brother’s arms, ignoring the prickling sensation that told him the touch wasn’t okay.
“You’re gonna be okay.”

I’m in a mood tonight so have me rambling about my music tastes below the cut
Eclectic is a good word for my music tastes like
In theory I like musical theater, in practice I have a few shows I know and like, a few songs that came on a tv radio thing from a musical I have heard nothing else from, and little to no opinion on anything else. Chicago? Great. Sweeney Todd? Haven’t listened in a while, has a couple of no-no songs, pretty good. Little Shop of Horrors? Haven’t found a recording I like for Dentist but the music is great. CATS? 2019 fucked up the music, London cast recording is where it’s at, shame that Growltiger is so racist because the parts that aren’t being racist are great fun (London not Broadway). There are definitely others (Mean Girls is fun, Be More Chill is pretty fun too, I really like the junior version of Seussical’s music, Something Rotten has a lot of fun songs), and while I’m not a Disney stan or anything I do like the style of a lot of the music, especially villain songs, sometimes I want songs that are like Disney villain songs in style but aren’t those songs specifically and it is so hard to figure out how to look that up and it is frustrating. Most things not on that list...I probably haven’t listened to and therefore have no opinion. (Phantom of the Opera is not my vibe though I’m sorry it is important because it’s been running for so long but that is just not my type of music)
I like late 2000s to mid 2010s pop music, that was when my dad got some CDs for a birthday or something and then I ended up listening to them a lot for some reason, also when I liked Just Dance a lot and listened to the radio in the car going places. There are definitely older songs I like and probably a few more recent ones but really that’s the time frame where I liked the most mainstream music. Not that that’s a good or bad thing, it’s just a thing.
Specific artists, when it comes to music that isn’t fan music, Voltaire and Creature Feature are my favorites. Most songs of theirs I’ve listened to, I like.
There are also probably some other artists that I like a lot of their songs but don’t pay enough attention to recognize they’re the same group in those songs, mostly thanks to this one Creepypasta-themed playlist that obviously had a lot of edgy music. Lots of MCR, Set it Off is a group that I’ve heard a number of good songs from, Hollywood Undead (apparently maybe there was some member drama, idk I just like what I’ve heard both pre- and post-whatever happened), probably some other groups with multiple songs.
And then there’s fan content. Random Encounters is my long-term favorite, the tone of the music is generally pretty light, idk they do a slight musical theater style (they call their songs ‘musicals’ so yeah that’s a vibe), and while their members have changed, the music is still really fun. The Stupendium! I found him pretty recently and boy I’m glad I did, he does more rap-style content, like a number of his songs are raps, but don’t let that turn you off before giving it a listen. Even outside of being about the game itself, a few of his songs just slap really hard, a few being very very anti-capitalist or just social commentary because of the source game, and just very very good. The Fine Print is a really really really good one that is also ‘capitalism sucks’, It’s A Joy isn’t really capitalism-related but someone could probably write a thinkpiece about societal stuff with it, I haven’t listened to it as much but A Matter of Factories (not to be confused with the similarly named A Matter of Facts, a rap that is just a bunch of trivia, sparked by a challenge by another channel) is also pretty anti-capitalist and anti-imperialism, another that isn’t exactly anti-capitalist but more an examination of society and stuff is Vault Number 76. I don’t even know much about any of the source games (aside from 76 being a glitchy nightmare lmao) but the songs all still slap. I almost forgot about Nook Line and Sinker, another wonderful anti-capitalism song. (Adding in A Purpose for New London. More social examination. I like the other guy’s ending better on a vocal level, but both are very very good.) (somehow I forgot Doctor! Doctor! which has its humor from the game it’s about but also has bits about how private healthcare is fucked up. The Stupendium is British BTW) If you just want some fun shit, he’s got that too. The Most Fashionable Faction is just a fun TF2 rap, An Impostor Calls is one of the collab songs he did with another guy and it’s pretty fun, I only have heard one ending of the Lego vs Minecraft rap battle but it seems pretty fun, These Hallowed Wings is a lighthearted one, Why Did I Say Okie Doki? is DDLC vibes of course so creepy but also with some upbeat to it (does that even make sense), Losing My Patients is kinda fucked up because Surgeon Simulator but it’s also really fun, What A Fowl Day is a very very good one, Way Deeper Down is good if you like Undertale (it’s also just genuinely good and fun). Honestly the only two I would rather skip when listening to him on shuffle are the two that have him partnering with SquigglyDigg, neither of the songs have anything wrong with them particularly I just. remember Squiggly’s awful takes on Lilo and Stitch and how she is the kind of person that’s like ‘you can call yourself whatever you want but there are only two genders’ and is miffed when people don’t recognize she’s a girl from her (drawn) profile pic like she gets upset about people trying to be polite because she disagrees with them being respectful to nb people or some shit
Also I like lyrics a lot and sometimes I can just go off vibes (like I don’t really like the really really heavy metal stuff like it’s really annoying when I’m like ‘I want a song about a deal with another power’ and all that comes up is either really heavy metal that is just loud and I don’t know what they’re saying (I’M NOT DISSING IT IT JUST ISN’T MY TYPE OF MUSIC) or a type of blues or something that also isn’t usually what I’m after at that time) but I also have a lot of appreciation for good lyrics and lyrics about stuff I like (which led to my friend being weirded out because she doesn’t listen as closely to lyrics as I do so when I tried to share some Stupendium songs she was just listening to the vibes and was like ‘you listen to weird music’) so like what it’s about matters
Also Biggering slaps. That is very tangential but it just slaps, go listen to it. How Bad Can I Be is fine I guess, like it’s catchy and all, but Biggering is just so much better. (The fact that multiple people have written video essays about Biggering and that movie should speak to how good it is. At least go listen once you can look it up on YouTube it’s just really good)
Also mental animatics are a thing. They just are. So that also can affect how I feel about a song.
Oh and The Cog Is Dead has a lot of good songs, how did I forget them

What's up gamers today we're taking a stab at guessing why and how in the world a depressed, unhygienic, ketchup-chugging skeleton like Sans became an internet sex symbol if you like this video don't forget to like and subscribe to my channel and click that bell button to get notific
Here's a question for you: if you played all of Undertale without knowing anything about the fandom, and after you were done I asked you who you thought the fan favorite was, who would you say? No really, I'd like to know, because I have no good or honest answer to this question. Because the more I think about it, the more sure I am that, while in many fandoms it's clear who the fan favorite is going to be(and that character may even have been designed to be the fan favorite), Undertale doesn't really have that.
Most times, the fan favorite is a young guy with good looks(a specific kind of look too, usually what you would describe as a "pretty boy") that has a good sense of humor and/or is flirtatious and/or is flippant. Sans is a jokester, sure, but he's not a pretty boy. And as I said, he's depressed and chugs ketchup at local diners and is a slacker, and his jokes aren't flirty or insulting(aka "attractive" jokes), they're just bad puns. These things certainly makes him feel more like a real person(or as real as you can get when you're a skeleton), but they don't make for a good fan fave to drool over. So why was Sans chosen to be transformed through fanon as the fan favorite? I think the answer lies in the no mercy route.
I'm pretty sure we all know this is the biggest contributor to his popularity. Although nowadays I prefer the pacifist route, even I was fascinated with the no mercy route back in the day. And there's a perfectly good reason so many felt the same, for a lot of us(myself included) it was an introduction to "darker" stories, where bad things happened and they didn't get better, or were previously fans of games like fnaf. A lot of the fandom was my age at the time(14) or younger. And since the no mercy route was the main focus for so many fans, what, or who was the staple of it? Sans. And honestly, the sans fight really was made to make an impact. It takes a lot of tries, sometimes even more than undyne the undying, the music is the fourth iteration of Toby's signature song Megalovania, and Sans' dialogue reveals more about his character and opens up a possible mystery by saying strange things that he doesn't explain(remember how I said a lot of people were previously fnaf fans? Well it and similar games became popular largely because of the mysteries they presented. So Sans' popularity also grew because of his connection to the larger gaster mystery). So Sans ended up being the most popular character in Undertale, and Undertale became insanely popular, so by proxy Sans became a very popular character in general.
So here's a summary of why Sans is the fan favorite, even though when just looking at him by himself you'd never guess he'd have risen to this level of popularity(aka the TL;DR): Undertale has a distinct lack of characters that fit the typical "fan favorite" mold, and Sans was the character that most closely fit it. His popularity was largely helped by his significance in the no mercy run and his ties to the gaster mystery, which made him more appealing to young fans in particular, who loved the no mercy route because of its darkness and gaster because of the unsolved mystery. Thus, he became the most popular character in Undertale, and since Undertale was so popular itself, he got a huge fandom.
I also want to take this time to look at some other characters who had the potential to be the fan favorites had Sans not taken the role. Most/all of them fit other, "lesser" fan favorite archetypes that I will explain. A lot of these characters are still pretty popular.
Gaster
This one's pretty obvious. If Sans didn't have ties to both the no mercy run and the Gaster mystery, then Gaster himself would be the fan favorite. Even with Sans(or sometimes because of him), he's inescapable. If he was the fan favorite, the loud part of the fandom would largely stay the same, there would just be less focus on the no mercy run.
Undyne
There's two ways Undyne would've become the fan favorite: being a lesbian icon like Catra from spop, making the fandom a lesbian haven, or through straight weeb men who fetishize lesbians. Those two types of fans already make up the Undyne fandom in our quiet little corner, but we would've seen this on a much larger SCALE(lol) if she had been the fan favorite. And let's be honest, what does Sans have that Undyne doesn't? Let's just look at the facts here: A glowing eye that only shows up on the no mercy run, of which they have one of two of the epic battles for that route that are famously hard to beat, both have a mysterious part of them that's not really explained(Undyne's missing eye, why she melted/came back to life instead of turning straight to dust, determination motif, UNDYNE'S MYSTERIOUS TOO GUYS), connections to a royal scientist, I could go on. I can really only think of one reason that Undyne, the buff angry wlw who isn't conventionally attractive, isn't very popular.........
Asriel
Asriel falls under another type of fan favorite archetype that I like to call, "HOLY SHIT CUTE CHILD." The only other example I can think of right now is Niko from oneshot, who is the fan favorite of their game. And Asriel is indeed a cute child! I would've liked to see him be the fan favorite, because I think the Chara & Asriel subplot is underrated in this fandom. Asriel is fairly popular, but he's mostly seen either as flowey or by fans of the KFCA gang nowadays.
Frisk
Frisk being the fan favorite would be a combination of "HOLY SHIT CUTE CHILD" and "protagonist that I can project onto," with a side of mystery due to their ambiguous backstory. So pretty much how they're portrayed now. They're best done by fans of the KFCA gang, but they're seen more often than Asriel, either as a prop in cool art of a place/another character, or to be the kid in those post-pacifist works.
Mettaton
He's another one that's already fairly popular, this is just about what the fandom would be like if he was The fan fave. And if I'm gonna he honest, I'm kinda surprised Mettaton isn't the fan favorite. He's pretty much exactly what the fan favorite archetype is. He's a pretty boy. He's one of the more popular characters in the fandom, sure, but compared to Sans he hardly shows up. And I honestly don't have any good guesses as to why this is. It could be that he's gay and trans coded, but too "flamboyant" and makes the cishet fans uncomfortable, but even that doesn't check out considering how much people fetishize him being trans. If anything, they like that, even if in the most gross way possible. So yeah, I've got nothing.
Chara
They were probably the fourth most popular character back in the day, after the skelebros and gaster of course. And just like Sans, it's because of their ties to the no mercy route. If they were the fan fave, the fandom would probably be a much darker place. Which is sad, because if you look at how KFCA fans depict them, they're great! But anyways, the fandom as a whole has always focused more on "demon" Chara than looking at maybe a more nicer side of them, so if they were the fan favorite, the fandom would be even more focused on the gritty and dark parts of the story. Oh, and people would keep misgendering them, too.
So there you have it, an in-depth analysis of how Sans became the fan favorite, and then what other fan favorites might look like I guess. Even after writing all of this, I still can't quite comprehend Sans' popularity. Fortunately I've found a good niche in the fandom that appreciates all the characters equally. KFCA fans, waterfall gang fans, gorls fans, etc. Everyone is good! But I've stayed holed up in that little community for so long that I don't know the fandom at large's current condition regarding aus, sans, etc., so really this meta is written from my memory of the fandom back in 2016, which is probably outdated somewhat lol. Anyways, hope you enjoyed the read!

Undertale Characters Ranked by how Dramatic they are
So, just a note before we begin:
Mettaton is not at the top of this list. I considered it, I really did, but despite how dramatic he is, I have two reasons for picking someone else. One: I didn’t want to just go for the obvious choice, two: I genuinely believe the character at the top of this list is more dramatic.
Because I don’t want to spend 10 hours picking through every npc interaction in Undertale, this list includes only the major characters. Because not everyone agrees on which characters in Undertale are major, I’ll list out the ones I’ll be discussing.
Chara, Flowey, Toriel, Asgore, Sans, Papyrus, Undyne, Alphys, Mettaton, and Napstablook. 10 in all. (Frisk will not make an appearance, as their behaviour is dictated by the player)
Without further ado: let’s do this
Number 10: Napstablook
Not a hard pick, really. Mostly all he does is cry, and it’s more depressed than dramatic. Dapper blook might qualify, but when it’s the only remotely dramatic thing he does? Definitely the bottom spot.
Number 9: Alphys
This one was a bit harder. Alphys is one of the least dramatic characters, but she does have her moments. I suppose the most dramatic thing she’s ever done in-game would have to be the phone call she gives you at the end of one of the neutral runs, as she ends it with the phrase “I should’ve killed you when I had the chance.” However, the fact that this feels almost out of character belies the fact that she doesn’t normally deliver such lines. Another dramatic thing she does is the note. I hesitate to label it a suicide note, but it definitely gives off those vibes. Finally, I feel like the narrative tension in the lab entries (so many cliffhangers!) should really be mentioned. I mean, she made an entire entry that was just the word “no” over and over.
Number 8: Toriel
I had some trouble deciding between her and Alphys for this spot, but in the end, Toriel is the only character who can lay claim to having dramatically stormed all the way from New Home to the RUINS. Presumably while carrying Chara’s dead body, unless she had it delivered or something. (“Is this the pizza?” “No, it’s your kid’s corpse”) While this is the most noteworthy thing she’s done, it’s not the only one. I mean, the line “what a horrible creature, torturing such a poor, innocent child...:” is dramatic when delivered to Flowey, and amazing when given to Asgore. Also: throws fire at you for your own safety.
Number 7: Asgore
Having him this low on the list causes me physical pain. However, Undertale has a lot of drama. While he’s only number seven, trust me, he’s very dramatic. Just as an example, “Human. It was nice to meet you. Goodbye.” I mean, what can I even add to that? Honestly, that entire scene feels like a fantasy novel, which is a bit of a departure from Undertale’s normally fun and lively vibe. The bit where he destroys your MERCY option, especially. There’s also something else I’d like to point out. When he realizes you’re a human, he says: “nice day today, huh? Birds are singing, flowers are blooming…” Which is almost exactly what Sans says on the genocide run. What’s more dramatic than coordinated dramatic speeches? Nothing. Nothing ever. There’s also nothing dorkier.
Number 6: Undyne
I almost put Asgore in this spot, but anime. I mean, she stands on a rocky crag and gives a speech. What more can I even say here? I dunno, maybe that her geno theme is called “Battle Against a True Hero”, and her pre-fight song is called “but the Earth Refused to Die”. Oh, and? “I can feel everyone’s hearts beating as one!” not to mention freaking “let me tell you the story of my people”. Honestly, the only reason she’s not higher on this list is because she doesn’t finish said story.
Number 5: Papyrus
He’s Papyrus. He’d be at the top, but that justification also works for everyone in the top four. Also known as: the really really dramatic ones.
Number 4: Chara
So, I support narra!Chara, because I found a lovely proof of it which you can read here. Now, narrating your entire journey through the Underground is pretty freakin’ dramatic. What’s more dramatic? “Chara. The demon that comes when people call its name.” the speech Chara gives at the end of the genocide run is chilling, truthful, and very dramatic. The whole thing is basically one long callout for the player, reminding you who really held the knife, and the way it’s delivered is far too perfect for Chara to have improvised it. That’s right, I’m proposing that they rehearsed it. What else would they do while you wander around looking for murder victims? Also: “But nobody came” is just absolutely top-tier.
Number 3:
And the bronze medal goes toooooooo: Sans
It was really hard to pick whether Sans or Chara should get this spot, since they’re both just so dramatic, but what it came down to in the end is that Sans is just more of a presence. He follows you throughout the pacifist run, showing up at least twice in every area till Hotland. And every time he shows up, he uses his appearance either for a dumb joke... or to make you feel a chill down your spine. In Grillby’s, he stops time, completely casually, and doesn’t even say anything particularly incriminating! Rather, it’s a casual display of his ridiculous power that’s clearly done just to freak you out. Another thing it would be criminal not to mention is the restaurant scene, which I’m not going to recite, because it’s impossible to forget. And, of course, the geno run. Sans doesn’t show up as much on the geno run as he does the pacifist, but he plays a much larger role, as the final boss. He haunts you throughout Snowdin, dogging your footsteps and remonstrating you for choosing the violent path. He also repeatedly tells you that if you continue as you are now, you’ll face consequences. He’s right. You face him. Do I really need to tell you how that qualifies as dramatic? Yeah, didn’t think so.
Number 2:
Our silver medal winner is the silver man himself!: Mettaton
Need I go on?
Number 1:
Who could be more dramatic than Mettaton? More secretive than Sans? (well, no one is as secretive as Sans, but this character might come in second) More creepy than Chara?
It’s your best friend, Flowey!
The very first thing Flowey does in the game is to be unnecessarily dramatic to the point of harming his goals. Because he pretends to be nice before betraying you, rather than just murdering you, Toriel arrives in time to stop him. Of course, you can reset, so it wouldn’t have made any difference, but he didn’t know that. Then, after Toriel, he straight up tells you he has plans in the works! Also “I am the prince of this world’s future” is peak drama. But wait! It only gets more ridiculous! He specifically waits to murder Asgore until you’ve almost killed him, even though he could have absorbed the SOULs and fought you at any time during the fight! Then comes the true pacifrisk- sorry, true pacifist run. His introduction? Tell me with a straight face you’ve seen something more Extra than the ASRIEL DREEMURR name drop. I’ll wait. Also, the absolute god of hyperdeath? Really? REALLY? Yeah, I think we’re done here.

what is your least favorite modern Sonic game?
Based on the main modern Sonic games I have played as of posting this(I can’t just up and buy the newest consoles okay), that game would have to be, Shadow the Hedgehog.
I could go and talk about how the whole thing with Shadow being related to aliens feels like the writers just pulled it out of their asses, or how the intended darker and edgier approach falls flat. But those things are not the ultimate reason why I’m not very fond of this game. It’s just not a fun game to play. It’s just a chore.
Sonic Heroes may not be perfect and at best is just an okay game, and Sonic 06 may be broken and can be very frustrating at certain moments, but, I was still able to beat their main and final story campaigns. It took more patience than what should probably be required, but I still managed to at least finish them. Shadow the Hedgehog, on the other hand, is a slog to get through even when taking the easiest and most basic neutral route. Every time I try to pick this game back up I quit soon after, the game is just that frustrating and monotonous to play. The only reason I know what happens in the game’s story is due to resorting to watching cutscenes and gameplay online.
I really like it when games give you the option of having of multiple alternate endings. But it was implemented here in the worst possible way. The game being such a slog and chore would not be so bad if it at least had the courtesy to let you go back to a stage you already unlocked and branch off to another path. But no, you have to start a new game, and work from the very first stage, every single time! Each route isn’t even long in it’s actual length, especially depending on which route you choose to take, but the fake difficulty and unfair deaths will definitely make them feel longer than they actually are. It’s all just a cheap way to pad out a game that would take maybe an hour or two at most to complete! It’s not even like Undertale where your actions actually hold weight and have consequences in whatever route you take. Black Doom will keep saying that your disobedience will be severely punished, but he’ll quickly forget or not give a shit if you just continue to flip flop back and forth on which side you go with each stage. You could help Black Doom blow up an entire fucking city and Sonic will just casually talk to you like nothing happened, just as long as you choose to pursue a less villainous route right after!
Even the multiple alternate endings you could end up with don’t feel like you really earned them. Nearly every single alternate ending is just Shadow saying he’s finally got all of the Chaos Emeralds, there’s some changes in dialog and which character you may be partnered with(depending on the route you take), Shadow proclaims some conclusion or truth he thinks he’s figured out about himself, he then says, “This is who I am!”, and half the time he karate chops Eggman to death. There’s only two alternate endings that actually stuck out to me: The one where Shadow says that his purpose in life is to protect Space Colony ARK and the legacy behind it or something, and the one where it’s implied that Shadow committed suicide afterward. That’s it! All of the other alternate endings are forgettable.
Now unlike a lot of people who jump on the hate bandwagon towards the added guns and weapons, I actually like them. Not only do they make it way easier to take down enemies and their dreaded health bars, but it helps change up the monotonous gameplay a bit. Unfortunately, that’s where the good parts of the gameplay and mechanics end for me. It’s super obvious this game was made using Sonic Heroes’ engine and recycling assets from it. The levels in, Sonic Heroes, were at least mostly designed to give some leeway with the more slippery mechanics and other flaws in the gameplay. But hold on everyone! If the lack of momentum and other janky things in gameplay tested your patience in Heroes, well it comes back with a vengeance in, Shadow the Hedgehog, with levels and more careful platforming not made nearly as much with it in mind.
One last thing I think I should mention about this game, and also a good part of why I’m not really a fan of this game. For a game that wants to show you how totally darker and edgier it is, that edge is pretty dull. Outside of some unintentionally funny moments, and actually genuine sad or touching moments peppered throughout this game, it’s just overall dull. Not even the game’s music really stick out to me. Outside of the main opening theme, and the ending songs, only about maybe a handful of tracks in the game’s soundtrack really stick out to me. Tone deaf just seems to be a good way to describe this game in general.
The recycling of Sonic Heroes’ assets and character models don’t help with the intended dark and edgier approach with the game, either. Then there’s the new models they made for the human characters outside of Eggman. Commander Yaoi Hands, President Billboard Shoulders, and Insect Eyes Maria. I’ll never get over how hideous Maria looks in the game.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You know what hurts me the most about this game? Giving Shadow his own game to rap up his story arc, and explain exactly what happened back then, was a perfectly good idea and concept. With actual care put in, and having people who know what they’re doing behind it, this could have easily been a great way to actually expand Shadow’s backstory and character. But no. It’s obvious this was made and shoved out as fast as possible to capitalize on Shadow’s popularity while it was still at it’s peak. To this day I still think Shadow as a character deserved better than this.

Arle Nadja for Smash Bros. 3: Now it’s about content!
General reminder that I did two parts of this already.
Hey! It’s been a minute or two! That last Direct and Smash showcase was wild, wasn’t it! Banjo releasing that same day? Terry Bogard joining the roster? Nintendo confirming that there are more DLC characters on their way? A Sans Mii costume from Undertale AND Megalovania in Smash Bros.? WELL. I know I’m one month late to the celebration, but, hear me out: just before that Direct, I was legitimately giving up hope on the Arle dream. In my mind, I was “well, we only have two more slots, this ride was fun while it lasted, but this is as far as I go with this”, only to have Sakurai himself stretch out his hand of hope to me while I was deep into my desperation hole. It was insane.
Which got my idea noggin working back again! I wasn’t ready to talk about what I thought in terms of content for Arle’s bundle, but here we are! This will be all about what content she brings into Smash Bros.!
This last post is a two-part, since talking about the Spirits alone would require even more work, so that’ll be in part 4.
Número 1: Stage!
Over at the Arle for Smash Discord server, we’ve discussed which stage should fit Arle’s inclusion the best, and I’ve railed it down to three options: Primp Town, Pwurp Island, and the Dark Prince Castle.
And it was a no-brainer for me: it had to be this one.
Tumblr media
The Dark Prince Castle! Out of all the locations in the Puyo world, I cannot say there’s a place that’s just as iconic as this one. Appearing ever since Puyo Puyo 2, and making appearances in different forms throughout the series, the Dark Prince Castle makes for a perfect stage!
Its main shape would be that of a centered tower, much like Kalos Pokémon League’s center platform. The main gimmick of this stage would be “rising floors”: the center of the stage would take you higher into the tower’s different floors for plenty of possible cameos! Lower floors could contain minor characters, middle levels could make some more recognizable faces pop up, and finally, the last floor, could be a reference to Puyo SUN’s last stage, with the Dark Prince himself waiting for you at the highest floor. Sometimes, even, with tropical clothing! The possibilities are endless!
Tumblr media
Each floor would also have different platform layouts, to make them differentiate from the lower levels. The central platform itself could also gradually become smaller the higher the stage rises. But the risk of this stage itself is the characters in the background! Y’see, there’s this thing called Puyo Battles, that end up releasing Garbage Puyo that falls on the opponent’s field. Or in this case, the stage itself! From the top, Garbage Puyo could drop at any minute, so you’d have to be on your toes!
While playing this stage in Hazardless, you’d only fight on the lowest floor, and no Garbage Puyo would drop during a match. Character cameos could still pop up here and there, though. As for which would those be, well, you’ll have to wait for that.
Número 2: The music!
Can you quote yourself? ‘Cause I’m about to quote myself. Back in June, the #ArleForSmash Twitter account asked about which music tracks we would include in the game, had we the chance to do so. My answer shall now be complemented to coincide with the amount of music tracks the other Fighters Pass characters have received with their inclusions.
Originally, I only went with five (since that’s what the challenge was about), but now, I’ll go as far as listing 10 tracks, and that’s me doing some good ol’ wishful thinking! All listed tracks can be heard through the provided YouTube links over each of its names.
NORMAL MODE (Puyo Puyo Sun) [see description]
I like to think this is Arle’s character theme, and not so, well, that other song with the giant name. Puyo Hell, even Chronicle included a pretty darn good remix of this song that also used Pocket SUN’s higher pitch in one section. It’s that good. For this version, though? We could maybe ask for some sick instrumentalization by the mad lad Jun Senoue, maybe the rock masters of ACE+, or have someone new deliver a fresh tune into this song, like Tee Lopes, Toby Fox, or maybe even Grant Kirkhope! The sky is green, there are no rules anymore!
This is also the song I thought of first when I wondered which theme would play in her reveal trailer. And I’ll stick to that until the end.
Theme of Puyo Puyo (Puyo Puyo series) [see description]
What, you really thought I’d forget about Arle’s titular theme from her first game on purpose? Why, the nerve! ”A Long-awaited Spacetime Journey!”, aka.: “Theme of Puyo Puyo”! Of course it should be included in the game! Now, as for which version, well, I referenced the one that’s been in the game since Puyo Puyo! 15th Anniversary since it sounds fantastic, but here I was thinking that it could maybe be remixed into something more! Who knows?
Request from Puyo Puyo (Puyo Puyo) [ver. Fever☆Two]
Keeping on with themes from the original Puyo Puyo, we have this one, also known as Sticker of Puyo Puyo. This version, specifically, hails from Puyo Puyo Fever☆Two, and it’s so good of a remix, it’s pretty darn iconic! Included ever since, even! So, why not, let’s just include it as well!
Final of Puyo Puyo (Puyo Puyo) [ver. 15th Anniversary]
Whoever tells me there’s a better, more epic version of this song can head into my Twitter DMs for a healthy discussion, because I think otherwise: “Advent of Primp! Dark Prince”, or more commonly known as “Final of Puyo Puyo”. For me, this version is the ultimate one, one that deserves to be completely untouched in Smash Bros. for sure.
Area A (Puyo Puyo 2) [Original]
BUT IF WE WANT TO SPEAK ABOUT ICONIC, THEN AREA A, OF COURSE! This song would go terribly with Smash Bros., and that’s in itself what makes it so hecking great! Imagine connecting one sick KO to this track, this is how true fighting games should sound like.
Puyo Puyo FUNderworld! (Puyo Puyo Fever) [Original]
Hoo-wee, I love Puyo Puyo Fever’s aesthetic and music. But its first battle theme is quite mellow, and the Area A remix is so loud. But, this one? This one is fantastic, it’s frantic, it’s perfect for Smash Bros.! Puyo Chronicle also had fun with this song and remixed it to make it the standard boss battle theme, too!
Ready for Fever Mode! (Puyo Puyo Fever series) [see description]
I’m that kind of person who prefers the Fever Mode songs from all games. Since I can’t pick a favorite, why not compile them all into one track for one seizure-inducing mashup!
Dark Arle’s Insanity (Puyo Puyo 7) [Original]
I don’t think I could’ve included another theme that had “Arle” in the title that wasn’t this one, honestly. It’s one of the best, most iconic tracks in Puyo Puyo 7, and it uses cues from Last Decisive Battle from Puyo Puyo~n, too, so it’s a double win for me!
The Puyo Puyo Song - In-Game Version (Puyo Puyo!!) [Original]
Of course, I couldn’t just forget about Ringo! The Puyo Puyo Song is such a catchy tune from Puyo Puyo 7, and her theme in 20th Anniversary, a rendition to this track, is honestly fantastic. Hectic, frantic, but also epic and memorable! Uki uki, waku waku! Doki doki, hara hara~!
Double Trouble Finale! (Puyo Puyo!!) [Original]
I had to narrow down the epic final boss-like themes of Puyo Puyo as a series down to this one because I think something like this, playing in Smash Bros., fits the setting completely. Even more than Puyo 7′s final boss theme.
Songs that I would consider but are maybe too obscure only include Zako Battle from Madou Monogatari Saturn, because it’s just that good, but unfortunately way too short.
Lastly, since I’ll never hear the end of it if I don’t explain the following: why I didn’t go for songs like Last from Puyo Puyo 2, Ultimate Legend of the Untrained Demon King, Crimson Wave!, Dimension Stage ~ Decisive Battle, or Domination, to name a few. While I do know that most Puyo Puyo fans know these songs by heart, that’s exactly the deal. I wanted to go for the most iconic tracks of the series, while also choosing the most recognizable, ones that people could quickly associate with Puyo Puyo, even if they only played a couple minutes of it. Filling the list up with only final boss themes would be sick, but alas, I decided against it.
Número 3: Spirit Battles... for next part!
... Yeah, this is where our little oddysey ends for today. I’ll come back to it with the finale when I have the chance.
Major thanks once again to the #ArleForSmash Twitter account, and to the people of the #ArleForSmash Discord server.
And, completely unexpected thanks to Apple, of all things, for having the names of the songs translated into proper phrases. Seriously, “It’s been a long time since we passed through space time!”, who approved this. “A Long-awaited Spacetime Journey!”, now that’s one hecking title.
Did you know? Of course I know his original name is Satan. But Dark Prince is so iconic, I just can’t call him any other way. It’s as simple as that. Did you also know that the Dark Prince was voiced in English by Smash Ultimate’s announcer, Xander Mobus, who also voices Joker from Persona 5? You can no longer unhear Dark Prince saying “Ravage them!” now. You’re welcome.

My thoughts on Deltarune, what it is, and what it means for the UnderRune world
Alright so this is the condensed version of a much wordier theory I was working on. For all intents and purposes, this is part four of Goner Theory, just.. Under a different name, I guess? I’ll probably think of one later. Also, even after trimming, this post is still quite long. You have been warned.
Anyway, there are a couple of recurring things that are within Deltarune just under the surface that are very interesting and make me more excited for the continuation than I already was! Without further ado, let’s dive right in.
So when I first played Deltarune, I was slightly disappointed with just how absent Gaster was considering the fact that he more or less promoted the demo through Twitter.
But after some digging, I was so very, very far from wrong. First of all, his motif is everywhere in the music. This includes, but is not necessarily limited to:
ANOTHER HIM (this one is very clear, probably the most obvious one)
Scarlet Forest (a little tricky to hear, but definitely there around 1:28)
The Circus (@0:14, the piano backing)
THE WORLD REVOLVING (Honestly like… Everywhere. It’s the backing for practically the entire song.)
THE HOLY (this one is probably the biggest stretch. Right around 0:30, the bells sound like his motif to me - but this could just be the same note pattern.)
Friendship (In the background, starting around 1:44)
(I think of particular interest here is Gaster’s ties to Jevil, but that’s a whole different topic for another post)
As was evidenced by Undertale, Toby very much uses leitmotif to his advantage. If a particular motif is clearly heard in a song, it is not on accident or out of laziness. I think this, combined with how often the “Don’t forget, I’m with you in the dark” motif is heard elsewhere in the soundtrack, poses a clear message - Gaster is here, and is always here, just in the background.
Other evidence of him includes:
When you use your cellphone in the Dark World, it plays the same sound as ENTRY NUMBER 17.
The weird door in the South part of Hometown is this same sound, but slowed waaaaay down (I think about 700%?)
The track name “ANOTHER HIM” is a clear reference to the track “HIM” from Undertale, otherwise known as Gaster’s Theme.
The messages hidden in the Deltarune website, written in Wingdings and saved as “him.png”.
Undertale and Deltarune both use a numeric code to identify who is speaking when a textbox is displayed on screen. The type code for the narration in the very beginning, when you’re creating your Vessel, is 666, which is also the typecode for when Gaster speaks in Undertale.
As previously mentioned, he was the one “connecting” to us via Twitter to download the Survey Program.
Anything having to do with the intro sequence as well as the game over screens is named in all caps in the code. Of special note is the sequence where you’re creating your Vessel where objects are named “GONERMAKER”.
In short, Gaster is very much present. It’s just not quite as clear cut as in Undertale, in terms of the code and events that can happen in the game. So that’s part one.
Part two - Gaster and the Skelebros are Darkners. People have already gone over this in other posts with Sans and I’m very much inclined to agree (I would link some here, but with the Tumblr Purge still in effect I’d like to play it safe). To sum it up:
Darkners don’t turn to dust, they bleed. This is evidenced by some different bits of dialogue (”Buckets of blood!”, “Everybody bleeds, right?”). Sans, if you remember, bleeds when you finally slash him in a genocide run of Undertale.
Darkners can dodge in battle, much like Sans.
Darkners have to be tired out to end the battle, same as Sans.
The fast travel doors within the Dark World are the same as Sans’ bedroom door, complete with weird light. This combined with Sans’ use of “shortcuts” to teleport to different locations in Undertale is a pretty solid connection.
Darkners (especially Lancer and Rouxls) display the same blatant disregard for the laws of physics that Sans and Papyrus do.
So there’s part two. With those two things in mind, I propose my theory on what, exactly, Deltarune is:
The world of Deltarune is a pocket universe created and maintained by a machine of Gaster’s creation. And the machine holding it all together?
Tumblr media
This thing.
The True Lab was previously Gaster’s domain - this much is straight up canon (it is the actual royal lab, and Gaster was previously the royal scientist). I’ve theorized in the past that Gaster was also put to the task of understanding and harnessing the power of the human SOUL, and I still stand by that. And if you look in the center of that machine, that looks an awful lot like the red SOUL.
So here’s my theorized timeline:
Gaster, within the Alpha/Delta Timeline, is appointed as Royal Scientist within the kingdom of the Darkners. He is set upon the task of investigating the power within human SOULs for one reason or another (I think likely either because humans are outside of the Darkner/Lightner society or because they have SAVE/LOAD powers)
While investigating, with the help of some assistants, Gaster uncovers the timeline fuckery that is caused by a human SOUL with enough power. This becomes the object of his obsession.
Gaster manages to obtain a red SOUL and keep it preserved so that it won’t break.
He could have gotten this SOUL one of two ways, I think. Either:
He extracted it from a human.
He fabricated it by amassing enough Determination in one place.
I’m not sure which of these two it is, or if it’s something else entirely, but those are my guesses. Either way, he gets a SOUL with the gift of Determination.
Gaster, after thorough study, creates The Machine, unlocking the potential within the SOUL for his own use. He gains access to SAVE/LOAD/RESET powers as well as the incredible magical energy contained within. This will later become the heart of the CORE.
Gaster creates a SAVE within The Machine, a universal “backup” of the surrounding area. The ultimate fallback in case of disaster.
Gaster continues to study and experiment, eventually making a fatal mistake which culminates in the events described in Goner Theory 1-3. Because of the way he is destroyed, he is unable to reload his SAVE.
Gaster is caught within The Void, a place completely outside of time and space. This is where he still resides, scattered across all of the many timelines between the two universes.
The Machine is kept intact, and with it, a pocket universe created by Gaster’s SAVE. The world of Deltarune is all contained in that machine, powered by the lone human SOUL trapped within.
The magic within The Machine proliferates through the Underground, freeing little bits and pieces of the trapped universe. This is what allows the different Goner encounters to happen - the Goners are shadows of the beings trapped within the pocket universe.
This is where I’d like to note that this timeline is by no means complete and/or set in stone. I am quite certain on the major elements of it (the Deltarune pocket universe, the Machine holding it, etc.) but the details could flex as more information becomes clear.
So now that we have finally established all of this... What is the Deltarune demo?
If you remember, from the Deltarune site before the 24 hour mark was up, it was Gaster talking directly to us.
Tumblr media
The site now is even in a different font and speaking style, further supporting this.
Tumblr media
That combined with the fact that the program is actually called “SURVEY PROGRAM”, Gaster’s inquisitive nature, and the fact that he directly asked for our responses, I think that the demo is a point of contact.
It is a further opportunity for research, to see what others do when interacting with the universe he has bottled up. Moreover, it’s a point of contact with him previous to his accident.
And how is he doing this?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s through the Machine, and the red SOUL within. The SOUL and its home are an interface of sorts, and likely Gaster’s prized creation. This is further supported by how the save screen looks previous to beating the game:
Tumblr media
It also comes with its own set of messages when copying and erasing the files:
"IT CONFORMED TO THE REFLECTION.
 "WHAT AN INTERESTING BEHAVIOR.
 "PREPARATIONS ARE COMPLETE."
"IT WAS AS IF IT WAS NEVER THERE AT ALL."
"IT RETAINED ITS ORIGINAL SHAPE.”
"THEN IT WAS SPARED."
"VERY INTERESTING."
"THE DIVISION IS COMPLETE."
"IT IS IMMUNE TO ITS OWN IMAGE."
"IT IS BARREN AND CANNOT BE COPIED."
"BUT THERE WAS NOTHING LEFT TO COPY."
"BUT IT WAS ALREADY GONE."
"BUT THERE WAS NOTHING LEFT TO ERASE."
This game is an experiment. And in fact is an experiment we already know about.
That’s right. Deltarune, and our playing of it, is the experiment detailed in ENTRY NUMBER 17. Gaster’s final experiment before his accident.
And now, one last thing.
I have firmly believed for quite some time that the real Chara, the child who fell and lived with the Dreemurrs, is NOT the same as the Chara who confronts you at the end of a Genocide run.
The Chara who died to save the Monsters is gone, and has been for quite some time. I believe they are the narrator of Frisk’s adventures through the underground with the exception of the Genocide run.
The Chara we see in the genocide run is not angry nor vengeful, as you might expect from the Chara who sacrificed themselves to save Monsterkind. The Chara we see in the Genocide run is someone entirely different - The demon that comes when you call its name. A soulless, empty husk filled with nothing but distant curiosity for cause and effect, whose emotions are only brought forth through displays of incredible violence and awakened from a sleep between worlds by your actions alone.
...Sounds kinda familiar, doesn’t it?
Tumblr media
I think by entering the realm of Deltarune, we inadvertently erased what appears to be the only human inhabitant, replacing their soul with ours. This left us not with Kris, but Kris’ body with an artificial SOUL. Kris, and their SOUL, is nowhere to be found. And looking at the code, I think we can even see where they’ve gone:
Tumblr media
And once the vessel gets a will of its own, and rejects us, what are we left with...?
...I think Deltarune is setting us up for consequences. Sometimes, your actions don’t matter. The act of us participating in this experiment, of being in this world in the first place, has irrevocably brought about disaster.
We have inadvertently participated in the experiment that brought Gaster and his home world to disaster.
And we may well be helpless to stop it.

Buckle up here are my thoughts on Deltarune
I’ve been seeing a lot of ppl here and videos on YouTube talking abt theories and stuff so I thought I’d make my own megapost to surmise my thoughts and my own theory on wtf is going on in this game Part of this was @brigadeinvader and me talking over discord and discussing the game, I don’t think either of us would’ve come up with this on our own
Timeline Placement & Stuff
Tumblr media
As Toby stated, Deltarune is neither a sequel nor a prequel because it’s not the same world as Undertale, and this is important. You can call it an AU if you want, it’s not far from what I believe it is. However, somethig doesn’t have to be a prequel or sequel to happen before or after something else. Lemme explain.
I personaly stand for the idea that Deltarune is an alternative wolrd to Undertale, hence why the same characters are there, only different. It being an alternative world means it’s still somehow connected to Undertale. If you know anything about the multiple worlds hypothesis, then you should know Undertale and Deltarune’s timelines would run parallel to each other without interfering (they might’ve been one and the same at some point, but not anymore. And timelines cannot merge back). This still means the events of one can take place after or before the other, just in different worlds.
Tumblr media
Not necessarily in that order, but like so. We have two dates to go by, and those are the begining narration of Undertale and Ralsei’s cut manual for Deltarune. Undertale’s is 201X, while Deltarune’s is 202X. This would normally mean Deltarune goes around a decade after. However, the date at the beginning of Undertale is not the date the events of the game take place on, but the date the Fallen Human (I’ll refer to them as Chara) ends up in the underground. The game asks us to name the human from the beginning narration, which isn’t Frisk, so we don’t know exactly how much time passed between Chara’s arrival and Frisk’s. It has to be a lot of time, though, seeing as six other humans fell down in that time and most of the monsters underground don’t remember/flat out haven’t seen the surface or the humans by the time Frisk arrives. And if we take Asriel’s transformation at face value, then enough time has passed for a Dreemurr to age from a kid to a... young man, I guess. Which is certainly more than a decade.
Arsiel being in university in Deltarune doesn’t put it after Undertale, because I’m pretty sure Asriel would also be around that age, if not older, by the time Frisk comes around if he hadn’t died.
If you don’t want to take Toby’s declaration too seriously, since he doesn’t outright say anything but Deltarune being a different world from Undertale with different characters that lived different lives; then Chapter 1 still has some evidence that points towards this. None of the characters you meet that were also in Undertale are exactly the same. Not even their sprites. Everyone has at least something different in their designs when compared to the ones seein at the ending credits of the Pacifist run in Undertale. Asgore doesn’t have a crown, Undyne doesn’t wear an eyepatch, Alphys doesn’t have her labcoat and was probably never a scientist, Mettaton never became a star, Toriel has a darker shirt underneath her purple sweater (check it, I’m serious), Bratty and Catty hate each other, and so on. Sadly we don’t get to see Papyrus, The only one who’s exactly the same is Sans.
Sans
There’s a post by @napstamuse (idk about putting links bc of tumblr’s recent algorithm, sorry) comparing all the main sprites of the characters in both Undertale and Deltarune, and Sans’ jacket is has the same color, even down to the hex value of the blue. Not only that, but his personality remains untouched. He still has some sort of attraction (I don’t mean romantic necessarily) to Toriel, still fond of puns, etc. He’s the only one of those we see that’s exactly the same in Deltarune as in Undertale.
He’s more than probably even the exact same Sans from Undertale. As in, he somehow moved from one timeline to the other, unlike the rest who aren’t the same characters per se. We all know by now Sans wasn’t from Undertale, not really. His Genocide fight convo states “I gave up trying to go back a long time ago.” and “getting to the surface doesn't really appeal anymore, either”. This means 1) he’s not from there, from Undertale’s world/timeline and 2) whatever place he’s from isn’t the surface. That’s important. Because a lot of details point towards Sans being originally from Deltarune’s world, then for some reason moving to Undertale’s sometime before Frisk arrives. But when we find him in Deltarune, what does he say?
Tumblr media
And when you ask about “Friends”.
Tumblr media
Meaning he also came from somewhere else. Considering Deltarune’s town is in, apparently, the surface; then it makes sense why Sans didn’t originate from there, since he didn’t come from the surface. And he knows the surface, as evidenced by him telling Papyrus what the Sun is (though that could also be bc of Alphys’ anime).
But if he doesn’t come from Deltarune’s town, and he also deosn’t come from Undertale’s world; then where does he come from?
I propose Sans is a Darkner. I don’t know if someone has already made this point in a video or post, but hear me out.
Unless Sans is from a different world altogether, then the only place in Deltarune that isn’t the surface (that we know of) is the Dark World. Not only that, but we know thanks to this infamous scene:
Tumblr media
... that Darkners bleed.  Monsters do not bleed. Susie right there more than probably doesn’t bleed either, and yet Lancer assumes everyone in the Fun Gang does. That can only be because his species, the Darkners, all bleed. You know who else bleeds?
Tumblr media
Sans does. And yes, I’m aware there have been ppl saying the red thing coming from him is actually ketchup from a bottle inside his jacket (which, knowing sans, wouldn’t surprise me tbh), but that wouldn’t explain why it comes out of his mouth as well. Hence it must be blood. Monsters from the underground all turn to dust upon defeat, yet Sans is the only one in the game who doesn’t. It doesn’t help the fact that we never see him die on screen and the sound effect that plays when the battle ends isn’t the one of a moster being defeated, but of one being spared. We also never really see Darkners bleed, that’s true, since they all flee from battle and you can’t kill anyone in Chapter 1; but Lancer’s bucket scene tells us that yes, blood is a thing in the Dark World that does come out of bodies when they are beaten.
There’s also another thing that might be minor, but all Darkners get tired after enough time in a battle. It’s the way you defeat the Chaos King and it’s the easiest way to spare enemies in Chapter 1. They all fall asleep. After enough time in a battle, Sans also falls asleep. It’s also the only way to defeat him in Genocide.
So Sans might be a Darkner. Why he left the Dark World (what is the Dark World) and why he then left the world of Deltarune to arrive at Undertale... we don’t know. It could have something to do with Undertale’s Gaster (or maybe Deltarune’s), but again, we don’t know. We’ll have to wait for the rest of Deltarune to come out to have more material to go on, I suppose.
Also the stuff about the “don’t forget” picture with the three smiling people on it. The song at the end credits states “don’t forget, I’m with you in the dark”, and the Fun Gang is comprised of three people. But we have no definitive evidence on that either.
More on the Timeline Placement
I personally believe Deltarune takes place before Undertale, though I suppose a better term would be “earlier” than Undertale in the split worlds. By no means whatever happens in Deltarune affects Undertale, we know that thanks to Toby’s tweet. But Sans being there means something happened that made him leave and enter Undertale, so in some ways it is before that game.
I also know there are some things that make this difficult. I still believe Deltarune comes before, but untill we see Asriel or have any definitive dates we cannot be sure as to which one is earlier in the timeline. Gerson being dead complicates things even more, unless you want to tell me monsters age slower in the underground.
Jevil & Seam
Seam’s line if you speak to him after defeating Jevil, the “darker, yet darker one”, is too specific not to be deliberate. We know Jevil spoke to someone that broke him, and we also know said someone was not the Knight. Not only that, but Jevil uses sprites way too similar to the Everyman to also be a coincidense, when using his carousel attack. We also see the Everyman in the wall of the alley Alphys is at the end of Chapter 1. So something is going on there.
Gaster
I think by now we’ve all somewhat accepted the idea that Gaster is more present in Deltarune than he is in Undertale. The same sound that plays during Entry 17 can be heard if you try to use your phone in the Dark World, and it’s also the noise that sounds near the red doors in the woods of town, only slowed down by a crap ton. The tweets before Deltarune was launched are also more than probably written by Gaster, considering the name of the account was changed to black bars and every tweet was in his text style.  During the survey part of Chapter 1 it’s also very probable the one conducting the survey is him, judging by the text style and all the weird choices (like blood types C and D, or the PAIN flavor). That is, of course, until someone else interrupts them. The text stopps being all in uppercase and the speech pattern changes, which is even more evident in the Japanese version as it starts using the correct form of speech (kanji + hiragana) instead of the weird one from before (katakana + hiragana). Coincidentally enough, the only character we know of that speaks in a textbook example of correct speech (thanks to the Japanese version of Undertale), is Chara.
And before anyone starts saying Gaster isn’t there; he is.  We just don’t know where. He has to be there, with no Core to build and no accident to happen that means the Gaster of Deltarune is 1) untouched, probably the same he was before everything went down in Undertale and 2) not a scientist, by that matter. Alphys is a teacher, so Gaster has to be around somewhere (more than probably behind the red doors south of the church, but who knows). We can say, though, that there might be more than one Gaster there. Since Undertale’s was “shattered across time and space” because of the accident, and Deltarune’s never had said accident, then both could be around during Chapter 1.
Also the game continues to crash/restart if you try to name either creator or vessel after him.
Dark World
It exists, lets get that out of the way. I highly doubt it was a dream or an hallucination or something, and there’s some evidence pointing to that.
It is very probable, though, that it doesn just... exist. How do I even began to explain this.
It might have been created by some otherworldly power influenced by what was present in the abandoned classroom when Kris and Susie return to town. There was a chess board, chess pieces, a deck of cards, a stuffed toy that looked like Seam, etc.  But it did certainly happen. They entered the supply closet. If everything had been a dream or a game, then 1) Susie wouldn’t be surprised and confused (in the case of a game) and 2) they would still be in the supply closet by the time they return. But they were not.
Also, the pencil Kris carries changes if you defeat Jevil before coming back. Not only that, but there’s an item that carries over into your inventory from the Dark World. The egg.
If you are given the egg behind that tree by... whoever that was, it will still be in your inventory when you return to town. You can leave it in Asgore’s fridge and it will multiply, much like the Dog Residue of Undertale. What is up with the egg, we don’t know. Who even gave Kris the egg is also unknown, but for every character we don’t know we could simply answer “Gaster” so we don’t have any clues either.
Kris
Some random thoughts before I close this off.
So Kris. Great adittion to our sweater wearing protagonists, now we can call them the kfc gang.
Seriously, though, Kris. I don’t even know where to begin here.
Tumblr media
You can still move their soul when they trap you in the cage.  I think this points to the idea that we control Kris by their soul. It’s what appears on the map when we avoid attacks and what, just like in Undertale, we take control of during battles.
Tumblr media
It’s also Kris’ file the one we overwrite at the beginning of the Dark World. It’s pretty obvious that we are taking control over them by taking control over their soul. It might just be a bad case of silent protagonist, but Kris never reacts to anything, even when those around them are shocked. He never tries to do anything on their own, except for that one time they chose to protect either Susie or Ralsei (I don’t remember). Also the “your choices don’t matter” theme going on in Chapter 1.
Us being in control instead of them is even more evident when you try to drop the Ball of Junk once you return to town. Kris doesn’t want to, and is upset when we force them to, but they still throw it away; because they have no control over their body. They’re even relieved if you decide not to after the first question.
We can also suppose this control we haver over them isn’t a first time thing, though maybe not necessarily our control. The only objects they posses are the Ball of Junk and the cage over the red... wagon? (I forget what that is called). The rest of their side of the room is empty, as if they were afraid of having anything the ones controlling could simply toss away.
That explains perfectly why they rip their soul out at the ending of Chapter 1, though not the knife and the smile. Though that’s the most speculation in this rant.
Anyway, congrats if you read through all that lol Feel free to add your theories/thoughts and help me correct stuff if there’s anythign contradictory in either games that could debunk anything here.

How come you think the AUs suck? I mean, sure, some of them are the spawns of Satan himself (*clears throat* Animetale) but I think a lot of them are pretty cool. I'm actually voice acting for one (which you probably won't believe, but I don't know if I can prove it in any way)
99.99% are the completely uncreative AESTHETIC UWU creations of a 15 year old who has put no thought into how the world would actually change. Or, if they have, focused entirely around Sans Undertale, who, a lot of people forget, is NOT ACTUALLY THE MAIN CHARACTER. And do you think I’m joking about that percentage? I’m not. There are at LEAST thousands of the damn things, which have become so bloated and overpopulated that they have basically changed the entire definition of AUs from “Justice League but they’re in high school” to “the game but you encounter people in a different order.”
Which could be interesting - what exactly made Alphys into the Chara equivilent? - but no, people focus on SANS BUT HE’S HAPPY AND MY HUSBANDO. How would the environment, socially, change with Asgore being the one to insist the world is kill or be killed? Apparently it would be red and everyone would be evil because evil, especially SANS, who is now my SIN HUSBANDO BUT HE’D CHANGE FOR ME. Everyone is gods, how the hell does that work? SANS KILLS THEM ALL BECAUSE HE IS MY STRONGEST HUSBANDO.
There’s a random generator that makes Undertale AUs but the stuff it puts out is “Everything is orange” or “It takes place in Korea.” This is about the same amount of thought as anyone puts into an AU. Despite this, or perhaps because of this, the YouTube comment section is full of people telling me to do an entire musical - not a song, an ENTIRE MUSICAL - based on Underfell or Underswap (there are many others, those are the two most common.) Why? Oh not because they think it’s interesting either - they just want to hear Edge Sans and Blueberry Sans (which is a name because his ZOMG HAPPY AESTHETIC is blue.)
So yes. AUs are basically the kind of fan fiction I would have made when I regularly slammed my head into walls and was between 12-15, and people think that they’re all works of art and deserve entire musicals based on them. The argument that “well, SOME OF THEM are good” means about as much to me as “Well, SOME mosquitos don’t drink blood!”
