About Kirby     

How many different copy abilities does Kirby have? 

Looking back at all the games, there are over 50 copy abilities. In the anime, up to March 2003, there are 20 types. Can you name them all? More and more will be added in the future, so please keep watching.

Why can’t Kirby speak properly? Why can he only say the names of his moves?

Kirby is a newborn Star Warrior. This is why he has a hard time speaking. It seems he can speak a little bit, such as repeating things people say or saying the names of food. 

When we hear the names of his techniques, could we be hearing Kirby’s inner voice?

Kirby eats a whole lot of different things, but is there anything he doesn’t like? What’s going on with his stomach?

A/N: Probably a little ooc, but I’m out of practice for writing and want to pick it up again. A potential start to my au for these boys but yeah. Enjoy!

Summary: Raihan has a confession to tell Piers that could threaten their relationship.

With summer approaching, a new season was about to beginning. Spirits were high, children from across Galar already selected and fitted for their official uniforms. Stakes were high and excitement was booming. The energy within Motostoke stadium was almost intoxicating, dizzying a familiar goth as he stood in one of the many entry ways down to the bleachers. 

Piers held the door frame to steady himself as he gazed upon the crowd. It was amazing what could change in four years. Leon stood proudly, presenting the Galar league to the children participating and the audience; despite the whole region knowing their names. 

Milo, Nessa, Kabu, Allister, Bea, Bede, Melony, Gordie, his own sister; he paused when he caught sight of Marnie. She looked so happy, smiling ear to ear as she held Morpeko in her arms. The two of them were waving to the roaring crowd, only to be pulled into another gym leader. Piers rolled his eyes as Raihan snagged her for a quick selfie with all the trainers in the background. 

There were just some things time didn’t change.

Standing to the side of the stadium, Piers let out a smokey sigh as he exhaled from his previously inhaled drag. His cigarette glowed brightly before he gave it a flick, sending the newly born phoenix to an ashy grave by his feet for the wind to blow away. “There you are,” a familiar voice boomed. Icy, blue eyes glanced up from their daze as tacky shoes appeared before him. “‘Bout time,” Peris sighed softly as he clipped the burning stick of paper and tobacco. Raihan made a face at the smell but approached the other none-the-less. “Ah, sorry to keep you waiting, love. Wanted to see how Leon was doing and take a quick selfie with Sword. She’s getting so big,” he stated like an aging parent. 

“Marnie too,” Piers hummed as he stood up and tried to crack his neck a bit. Raihan laughed a bit. “How long ‘til she’s your height now?” Piers paused after a soft crack was heard before shooting him a glare. “Ah, I’m just Joshin’ ya.” The taller finally latched his arms around the smaller and nuzzled into the messily bunned hair. “How was work,” Raihan asked as he continued to hold his partner of three years. “Took the day off to catch up with all the excitement,” Piers hummed as he nuzzled into the other’s scent. 

A bit musty from sweat that had cooled over the course of the day mixed with some of his favorite smelling cologne. It was soothing, comforting. “Ah, really? I’ve been trying to get you to break for months now but this is what gets your head outta that song book?” Peris shot him a glare from his chest; which from Raihan’s perspective just looked like a puppy pout. Before either the gym leader or musician could say anything, there was a low grumble heard from between the two. Raihan blushed a bit as Piers’ glare broke into a small smile. “Dinner,” Piers asked. 

“Walk and dine,” Raihan added to the offer. “It’s a gorgeous night.” Piers hummed. “Yeah, but the palace will probably be crawling with eager trainers.” Raihan hummed. “Alright, how about over by Hammerlocke, yeah? Kids can’t get in without all three gym badges and right now, the pokemon over there are probably too intense, right?” Piers gave a small nod after a moment of thought. “Well, let’s go then,” he said softly, attempting to lead the other off; but to no avail. “Actually, I was thinking we call a cab and enjoy the night sky from above before hitting it from below?” Piers gave a small nod of agreement as a small breeze caused him to move a bit closer as Raihan tinkered away with his phone to alert a flying taxi of their location for a pick up. 

The taller man merely pulled his lover in a bit closer before submitting the request and quickly striking a pose for a date-night selfie. It irked Piers, but he just hid his face in the other. His face was all over Raihan’s Pokegram, so what if he ducked away this time? Raihan clearly didn’t care. He never forced Piers to smile or pose anymore, just would take a bunch of pictures and post the most flattering of the two of them. 

“Date night with a babe,” Raihan said softly as he typed. “Don’t you dare,” Piers protested, only to squeak from a small squeeze to his side. Turning to look at the offending touch’s origin, Raihan’s hand merely rested against his side once more. He turned with a pout towards the other before gently, but firmly jabbing him in the ribs. Raihan jolted slightly before smirking. “Is that a challenge?” Oh hell no. “Not in public,” Piers hissed as he put his hands up as Raihan moved to pounce for the kill. The panic was soon killed as wind came crashing down on the two of them, a cab landing behind Piers. Looking up, the two were greeted with a friendly smile and wave. “Gym leader! Piers as well. Are you both looking for a ride,” the pleasant taxi driver asked. Piers blushed a bit and started to fiddle with his bangs, social anxiety getting to him. 

Raihan wrapped an arm around him with a thumbs up and a wink. “Yep! Taking the Mr. here on a nice date night. Any chance you could help with that?” Piers gently smacked at Raihan’s stomach. He was so open about everything! Raihan merely laughed as the cab driver hopped down to get the door. “Absolutely. It’s a beautiful night tonight. Where are you two looking to go?” “Eh, just over to Hammerlocke. But maybe, you could give a bit more of a scenic route?” Piers blushed a bit more, leaning more into the hold. “Why are you doing this,” he hissed out. “I said it was a special date night, right? Come on babe, you love looking at stars! “ He wasn’t wrong. 

With darkened cheeks and his head down, Piers headed for the cab. A hand was offered to help him up that he took hesitantly. “Thank you,” he uttered to the sweet older man who merely gave him a wink before seeing Raihan in. Shutting the door behind them, he looked back to the ordering customer. “Scenic route back to Hammerlocke, yeah? How about just a nice scenic route over Galar?” Raihan smiled. “Yeah, that would be awesome!” Piers merely leaned into his shoulder, moving his arm away from his side to get closer. “Alrighty then. You boys take it easy now. Corviknight and I’ll show you two the sites.” With that, he climbed back onto his pokemon leaving the couple be. 

As he departed, Raihan looked over the male snuggled into his side and merely held him closer with a smile. His stomach churned and heart tugged as his mind reminded him the point of all this. This was becoming a serious relationship. They were three years in to it, four years into a strong friendship. Both were built off of emotional trust and openness. He felt guilty hiding something like this from Piers but was scared of the outcome it would bring. “How was your day,” Piers asked sleepily as he took in the aforementioned soothing scent. “Ah, pretty dull. Not much going on besides the opening ceremony so I gave my pokemon a day to breathe.” “And your pupils?” Raihan nodded. “They had the option to train or rest today. I’ll check in with them tomorrow. It’s going to be crazy busy soon.” Piers nodded, remembering the chaos from his own gym leader days. 

“Wonder if any one will steal the crown from Sword,” he muttered. “Eh, we’ll see. Frankly, I’d like to take another crack at battling her.” Piers rolled his eyes. “Of course,” he muttered, snaking an arm around to gently hold Raihan. It was going to be quite a while before they got to do something like this again. Their only interactions would probably be rushed between making sure Marnie was taking care of herself and making sure this one was doing alright. “Hey, you don’t think I have a chance,” Raihan laughed. “No, you do. Just wish you’d ease up on your obsession with battle.” Raihan looked confused. “Huh?” Piers paused before sitting up some and shaking his head. “Ah… you just kind of go off about battling some times. Like when you tried to befriend me, all you did was keep dragging me into battles and complimenting me.” Raihan scoffed. “We hung out too!” “After said battles or because you wanted to battle me.” The taller pouted before rolling his eyes. “Fine, less battle talk and asking. Better?” Piers shook his head with a sigh. “I’m not saying it’s a bad thing,” Raihan moved closer to hold him again. 

“Just, you get a little to into battle sometimes and that’s all that seems to exist to you.” Piers gently rubbed Raihan’s cheek as the taller man nuzzled into him. “Trying to defeat Leon for ten years only to be bested by a ten-year-old really shatters a guy, ya know?” Piers paused. Oh. He hadn’t thought about it that way. “Sorry,” he said softly as he was pulled in closer. “Don’t be. I do get a bit carried away in battle, I’ll admit it. But it’s my life, you know? I’ve come so close to beating Leon so many times in mandatory battles and off hand ones, but with Sword…. Hah, she puts up a challenge.

“He’s training her into quite the champion. I’ll give him that.” Piers looked up a bit confused by the last part but didn’t question it too much. “He’s a good chairman. Glad he’s treating Sword like a real kid, not a star child.” Raihan looked at him a bit confused before laughing. “Yeah, because you and Sonia scared him shitless his first day.” What? “How did we scare him,” Piers asked sitting up some to readjust. “Huh? Don’t you remember storming up to him and telling him off?” Piers thought a moment. “I’ve told him off a few times.” “Ah, well, allow me to jog your memory,” he said rather dorkily. Story time. 

“Basically, you and Sonia jumped on him about not making the same mistakes Rose did. About letting Sword come home and be part of a functional family and remembering she’s a child….. Not a walking advertisement as you said.” Piers thought a moment before nodding. “Ah, right. Thought he’d just brush me off though. Wasn’t he seeing Sonia at the time? Thought that’s what drove the point home.” Raihan made a face. “Yeah, not yet. But no, you both scared him. They started seeing each other a few months after. They lasted maybe a year? Not sure. She’s been with Nessa ever since.” Piers blinked. Normally Raihan told him all of media and regional gossip. Had he tuned this part out?

Probably, Piers didn’t care much for gossip. “As long as she and Nessa are happy, all that matters there.” Raihan nodded. “You didn’t think it was odd I kept inviting him to hang out with us,” he then inquired. “Not really. Your said to be rare rivals and best friends, right? Or at least th4e closest he got to a friend under that whack job’s rein.” Raihan made a face before nodding. “Yeah, well, you know…. wanted him to be happy too.” This was weird. “Why are you randomly bringing this stuff up?” 

Raihan froze. Should he tell him now? Probably not a good time considering their trapped in a small cabin. Piers can’t just leave. That would be so uncool to do to him. “Hey you two, the clouds are opening up. Take a look at the sky.” Ah, the voice of his savior. Raihan let out a sigh of relief as Piers glanced out the window. Raihan leaned forward eagerly. “Sure is beautiful,” he commented. “You bet,” the kind man said back. Piers merely smiled at the sight. Raihan moved closer to the smaller as they gazed into the brightly lit sky together. 

“There’s something just so soothin’ about the stars.” Raihan nodded as he moved in to cuddle again. Piers didn’t resist. He leaned back into the affectionate touch. “Babe,” Raihan said softly. “Hm,” Piers responded. “Do you like Leon? I mean I should have asked after I brought him around year two but….. are you alright with him?” Piers made a face as he turned to look at the other. “What’s with the Leon talk? Something wrong?” Raihan quickly shook his head. “No, no. Nothing’s wrong just….. curious, you know? I know you had some mixed feelings about him as a brother to Hop and his ego and all that but after getting to know him?” Piers shrugged. “It’s not like we hang out without you. What you see, I see.” 

Raihan sighed. “But do you like what you see?” Weird wording. Piers made a face. “I… guess? He’s always pretty nice to me and the kids so yeah. He’s alright. Wish he’d stop taking the problems of the region as if they're his alone to deal with but that’s something for him to work on.” Raihan smiled a bit too wide. “What?” The tallr froze. Whoops. “Ah, nothing. Just happy to hear you do like him.” “I would have told you if I didn’t,” Piers retorted as he looked back out the window. He smiled as he looked down over Turrfeild. Milo herding the Wooloo to bed with the help of his brother and some of his pupils. 

“Probably gonna stop by Milo’s tomorrow,” Piers commented off handedly. “Yeah,” Raihan asked, dying to just rip the bandage off right now. “Yeah. Might bring him dinner. He’s the first gym leader after all. Curry should be enough for him and his pupils right?” Piers turned, seriously asking Raihan his opinion. The other nodded. “Yeah but it’s supposed to be hot tomorrow. Maybe nothing too spicy?” Piers nodded. “Thanks,” he said softly. “Yeah.”

The rest of the ride was pretty quiet, just two dorky lovers staring in pleasant silence at the sky; cuddled into each other. It had been about an hour before they finally landed, Piers nearly being asleep. Raihan smiled before draping his hoodie over the smaller’s shoulders as the door opened to the cab. Piers once more took the kind, older man’s hand as he stepped down, thanking him once more. Raihan thanked him, taking a selfie with the three to compose for the night’s date. Piers felt it was over stepping but the pilot assured them it was fine. 

Finally stopping somewhere to get dinner, Raihan spotted a familiar figure. His window of time was coming closer to an end. Leon smiled, waving to the two of them before Sword dragged him off for their hotel to share the food with their pokemon. “He’s really her big brother now,” Piers commented as they stood in the pick up line. “Huh,” Raihan asked in panic before registering the words. “Oh. Yeah,” he laughed. Piers made a face. “Your doing it again,” he grumbled. “Doing what?” “Acting weird. Can you just tell me what’s going on already?” Raihan made a face before humming. “Maybe we could head back to my place rather than take that walk?” Piers nodded, just wanting the other to be honest with him already. 

The walk back was quiet, apart from Piers thanking Raihan for his meal. Entering the familiar home, Piers set his food on the counter before moving back to the door to hang the hoodie and his coat along with removing his shoes. He was dressed in a loose, thin, simple black stank sop and loose, dark shorts to match. He crashed on Raihan’s couch, taking his food with him as the other went to check on his beloved pokemon. His own were home, enjoying their day off. He made sure to feed them before he left. 

“You can turn on the television,” Raihan said, reaching for the clicker. “I want to talk first,” Piers stated, looking at him like an upset parent. Raihan retracted his hand before sighing. “Right, right.” “What’s been bothering you all night. Did you have a fight with Leon?” Raihan shook his head. How to say this without killing their relationship. “Um…. I’ve discovered somethings about myself over the last few years.” ‘Good start’, he thought, ‘weak delivery’. “You know, as we people do. We evolve and change with time.” Piers quirked a brow. “Why are you nervously stalling?” Raihan froze before feeling his eyes start to water. “Look, just give me a tick would ya? This is scary.” Piers sat up, placing his food down to face the other. 

Not once had the idea of them breaking up crossed his mind so far, just fear of the other’s well being. They had a relationship built on emotion and openness, so if Raihan couldn’t be truthful and open with him…. he felt maybe he, himself had done something to hurt Raihan. “Is…. this about my battle comment? I’m sorry Rai, I didn’t mean it like that,” Piers started to apologize. Raihan laughed, tearing up more. “No, no. Just, give me a minute. I can do this.” Piers nodded but offered a hand to hold nonetheless. The other shyly took it, rubbing his thumb across Piers’ boney knuckles soothingly. 

“So, I know you don’t look into, like…. sexuality and romantic terms but…. there is more than like gay, pan, bi, ace and straight. Like you are romantically gay but sexually ace.” Piers gave a weird look. “Basically you are romantically, or emotionally interested in a significant other but…. you aren’t looking to have intercourse with them. Like we’ve only really done fluffy, soft stuff for the last three years and it’s been great.” Piers narrowed his eyes. “So…. is there a problem with that or?” Raihan held his hand lovingly and shook his head. “No, no, no! Just…. Okay Raihan,” he sighed to himself. “Your being super uncool. Just rip the bandage off.” Piers cocked his head before seeing more tears form.

Damn it. 

He moved closer and just held the taller. “Whatever it is, it’s nothing we can't handle. Please, just calm down.” Raihan froze. The smaller held him firmly, hovering over his lap as he nuzzled closer into his scent. “I love you no matter what you identify as, if that's the issue. Just relax. You act like you haven’t told me about more personal things like bathroom problems.” Way to kill the moment. Raihan snorted, tears coming down his face. Piers frowned before reaching up to gently wipe the away before gently kissing each eyelid. 

Darker arms wrapped around his petite torso. Piers was trapped, Raihan’s face buried into his clothed torso. “Arceus, I don’t deserve you,” he whimpered. This caught Piers off guard. He gently started toying with Raihan's dreadlocks, humming and shushing soothingly as the other cried into him. Gently, he reached his free hand from Raihan’s shoulder and moved his hand down to the of the uniform he wore. Pulling it up, he watched as the shaking skin grew slightly bumpy from the new air hitting it. He played with the dark locks of hair for a little longer before moving the hand to hold up the shirt back and gently tracing his nails up and down the taller’s back. 

Raihan jumped slightly before nuzzling into Piers more, sniffles subsiding slightly. ‘This is super uncool of you Raihan! You act like you’ve never dated before! Man up, stop crying like a Sobble and just tell him!’ He shivered from the touch before mewling slightly. ‘But what if he leaves me? What if he takes this wrong?’ “Shhhh,” Piers uttered soothingly as he dragged his nails gently up and down the spine once more. “Just relax,” he cooed. ‘Well, I’ll just have to explain it so that Piers can understand!’ Raihan’s brain was racing back and forth as his stomach churned slightly with fear. 

As the sniffles stopped and Raihan lay motionless against him, Piers sighed. He moved to lower himself down to be level with the other for a proper hug. “Rai, relax,” Piers cooed again as he nuzzled into his neck. His nails gently traced up the back for the end, kissing the skin softly. Raihan was pulled out of his thoughts as his nerves reacted to the touch. His head popped out, letting out a sequel. Piers froze in alert before looking up at the other. He then smirked before filed nails started tickling his lower sides. Raihan screamed out before shaking his head squirming helplessly. 

“Ah, P-Piers sthahahaop it!” Piers smiled moving closer to his ear, easing the touch to hold him still for just a moment. “No more tears, yeah,” he asked softly, fingers moving slowly under his shirt, walking up his sides slowly to his ribs. Raihan squeaked, nodding as his face shifted to one of a smile with excitement. His stomach churns turned slowly to butterflies as his face heated up. “B-Babe,” he giggled. “Hm,” Piers hummed softly with a small smile. “Ah, ah wait. Hey,” Raihan giggled as his hands gently moved up to hold Piers around his waist. “Okay, okay,” he whimpered before bursting into soft, broken streams of giggles. “Nhahaope,” Riahan giggled out as he collapsed into Piers’ shoulder, just giggling his head off as Piers started scratching at his lower ribs. Piers just rolled his eyes, giggling softly himself. 

“Dork,” Piers commented lovingly as he started to slowly move his nails up each rib’s bump. Raihan jumped and jolted with squeaks and yelps off and on, just holding him. “You want me to stop,” Piers asked as Raihan seemed much calmer now. “A-Ah….. Not yet,” Raihan giggled out. “Yeah? Alright. Piers stopped for a moment before sitting on the far side of the couch and patting his lap. Raihan felt his face heat up more before he slowly, sheepishly moved to place his feet on the other’s lap. Piers looked a bit surprised. “You sure?” Raihan awkwardly nodded. “Okay.” He left the socks on, gently dragging his nails up and down his soles of each foot, watching as Raihan struggled not to rip his feet back. 

He held a pillow tightly to his chest, shaking his head frantically as he dug his heels into Peris’ thighs. “Shahahit,” Raihan squealed. The smaller winced slightly before sighing. “You alright,” he asked as the harsh pressure was starting to hurt. “Y-Yeheheheah! Ah, P-Piers,” Raihan squealed as the smaller grabbed the balls of his feet and started to scratch up and down a little harsher. The free foot quickly moved off of him to kick at the air as Raihan shrieked, jerking around in his seat. “Pheheheirs! Pheheheheirs! Ok-Okay! Whahahahit! Eeek!” The other stopped quickly, smiling softly. 

“Alright?” Raihan nodded, taking his foot back, laughing slightly still as he moved away from the other. “Thanks,” Raihan muttered softly as he curled up, slightly embarrassed. Peris smiled, moving to poke at his side. “Oh? Who said I was done?” Raihan’s blue eyes widened before he curled into the arm of his couch more. “Wait? What?!” He was giggling nervously as Piers smirked at hims playfully. “You heard me.” Oh shit. No, no, no! 

Raihan squealed before he jumped up. “Okay, I’m ready to talk,” he squealed out. Oh, right. Piers sighed as he stood down, giving a nod of truce before patting the cushion next to him. Raihan nervously took a seat, still holding his cousin before leaning into the other. Piers cleared the other’s face from tears before kissing his cheek softly. “What’s going on?” The other frowned before feeling his stomach churn again and eyes start to water a bit once more. 

“So, there’s something I’ve been meaning to talk to you about,” he started again. “Okay,” Piers said calmly. “Do you know what like polygamy or polyamorous means?” Piers thought for a moment before slowly shaking his head. “I don’t think so? Why, what is it?” Okay, big reveal. Don’t be dumb, don’t be dumb! “I…. so I’m pansexual and romantic right? Well I’m also polyamorous.” Piers blinked. “What’s pan mean again,” he asked quietly. Raihan laughed. “Basically gender means nothing. I have no preference of genders, if I like you, I like you. Or that’s at least how I explain it.” Piers gave a nod. 

“So… polyamorous?” Raihan sighed. “I am capable of loving more than one person romantically at a time.” He watched as the life drained from Piers’ face. Quickly moving into damage control, he put his hands up. “Let me explain, let me explain! It’s not like that. I still love you! Hold on, hold on.” Piers gave him a look as if to say “get to the point”. “So there are relationships that exist that are composed of more than two people. Like a legit love circle type deal. I just… okay I don’t know how to explain this. One moment.” Piers crossed his arms and quirked a brow. “Are you…. leaving me or?” Raihan shook his head. 

“Look, I…. I don’t know how to explain this properly, so…. Hear me out,” he asked softly. Piers gave him a nod. “I’ve had a crush on Leon for…. a while.” Oh? Oh. Piers hummed, leaning forward. “So…. you wanted him to join our relationship which is why you’ve been bringing him around since him and Sonia split?” Yes and no. “I mean that wasn’t the idea but…. I can see why you’d think that but…. Yeah.” Piers sighed. “So you're asking to open the relationship or add to it?” “Add,” Raihan said, gripping the pillow tighter. He was so nervous. Piers made a face before sighing. “I don’t feel that way about Leon, and I doubt he feels that way about me but…. if you want, I don’t mind going on a date or two to just see how it goes.” Raihan gave a silent nod as he sheepishly looked over at the other. 

“Are you sure,” he asked Piers. “If your uncomfortable with this, I won’t pursue it.” Piers shrugged. “You’ve dragged him around with us often enough, it’s not much different.” He wasn’t upset, but was just trying to picture if he could develop feelings for the purple haired man. “Are you upset?” Piers shook his head. “Thinking,” Piers stated, reaching for his food off the coffee table again. “Now eat your food, it’s getting cold,” he muttered with a mouthful of food. Raihan smiled softly before receiving the clicker and moving to allow the other into his side. Piers moved close, snuggling into him as they turned on a cheesy movie to make fun of.

Hi! I was wondering if you could expand a bit on the ´S/O from Unova´ who travels the world (Specifically Leon). This request is a little specific so here goes; The S/O has a thing for fire types, and while in Galar studies under Kabu (They are a HUGE fan) They have two partner pokemon, an Emboar and a Drifblim. Thank you so much, for your time :)

2nd ask – I assume you saw my message about missing posts and re-sent this.  Since the asks have slightly different details, I’ll just combine them into one post

“Hiya! Could you do some HC´s for a trainer who´s mentored by Kabu? To elaborate they´e been a fan since a young child, and also adore fire types. Said trainer has gone to Galar to test their mettle against gym leaders w/ their ace Emboar. After the match, the trainer asked if Kabu could help them specifically w/ fire types.”

So, based on the asks, I’m assuming you want the same character as from the Unovan strategist ask, so I’ll expand on that. I changed up the order of things a little bit.  AND OH BOY I WROTE WAAAAY TOO much again.  I split it halfway to save your dashes.  There’s nothing really triggering, although some people might not be into a relationship with a decent age gap.

You were pretty young when you decided to be a trainer, much like many kids.  But, unlike many kids, you were hyperfixated on one particular trainer: the fire type specialist, Kabu.

You first became a fan ALL the way back when he first joined the Galar League.  Despite being from Unova, you often watched the Galar league because there was just a sense of excitement that was lacking in other leagues.  Galar made a show of their tournaments, so their televised battles were watched worldwide.

Once you set out beyond Unova, you decided to head over to Galar. You needed a fresh challenge, and considering it was the Galar League that helped you decide your course in life, it felt natural to head there next

You ended up battling all the other Galar gym leaders before finally heading to Kabu.  Might as well save your favorite for last!

Apparently, he heard about you already.  News travels fast, especially when the news is about a famous Unovan trainer who’s randomly challenging all of the gym leaders of his region.  He knew he’d encounter you eventually.

He greeted you in the gym, rather formally, saying he was expecting you. You were low-key freaking out on the inside, but managed to keep yourself together.  For about a minute.  Then you lost it.  You started gushing, telling you how you watched him on TV since you were a little kid. How you looked up to him.  How you became a fire-type specialist because of him.  And how, growing up, you wished you could have trained under him.  How that was your most common daydream.

And then you stopped.  Oh no. You went too far.  

Kabu gave you a knowing look, and let out a small laugh. He was used to this; it happened all the time with fans.  Although, it wasn’t every day such an accomplished trainer came up to him and told him he inspired them…  It was incredibly flattering.

He said he would have loved to train you, but you probably surpassed him by now.  He wasn’t sure if you could learn much from him.

WHATAREYOUTALKINGABOUTOFCOURSEICOULDLEARNMOREYOUREAMAZINGYOUHAVESOMUCHMOREEXP- was basically the gist of what you incoherently blurted out.

 Kabu was surprised at the outburst, but he just smiled again.  Did he blush, or did you imagine it?  You’d never know.

Well… in that case. He knew you came to battle, but if you really, really wanted to, he could train you.  He wouldn’t mind.  He’s still not sure what he could possibly teach you, but he could try to come up with something!

After a bit of mental short-circuiting, you said yes!  Of course!  It was a dream come true for you, and… it took you a while to feel like it was actually happening.

You stayed at the inn during your training.  The first thing Kabu had you do was change your schedule. You had to meet up with him before dawn and then make your way down to wherever you were training that day.

Usually, it was one of the mines or his gym.  What surprised you was the content of his training. Often, it wasn’t even battling. It almost seemed like he was training you rather than helping you with your Pokemon or battling…

You had to endure the elements.  Snowstorms near Circhester.  The heat of the Dusty Bowl.  Battling in the pitch-black night.

You jogged together.  Meditated. Kabu even talked to you about eating a little healthier.

You asked him when you were actually going to train with battling.  And that was when Kabu decided to explain his thinking to you.  It was clear that you were a talented trainer.  You knew strategy.  You knew your Pokemon inside and out.  But, what about you?  Were you in peak condition, mentally and physically?  A battle could occur anywhere, at any time, so you needed to be prepared at all times.  Otherwise, there was a chance you could let down your partners…

Plus, as he said earlier, he explained, you seem to have surpassed him in terms of actual battling long ago.

After this, you agreed to continue.  Being with him was a dream, even if it wasn’t what you were expecting.

This went on for months.  You began to wonder how long this would go on for.  Not that you were complaining.  And, in that time, the two of you grew closer.

You started having dinner together frequently.  Kabu was a pretty good cook, so often the two of you just ended up at his house.  Due to the intensity of your training, you often ended up curled up next to Emboar on the floor, passed out after dinner. You always found a blanket on top of you when you woke up.

But, in time, you began to feel the itch to battle. Specifically, against him.  So, one morning, when you first met up, you simply asked him.

He smiled, and said sure.  If you felt you needed to battle him, then you needed to battle him!  So, the two of you headed down to his gym.  It wasn’t open yet, so it was eerily quiet, but in a way, it felt right.

He asked if you wanted to battle in a certain way; he knew Unovan people sometimes had battles with three Pokemon, after all.  And he knew you didn’t Dynamax.  You said a typical single battle would be fine, and that you’d LIKE it if he Dynamaxed! More challenge, after all…

You did agree to have a three on three battle, though, since he only had five Pokemon.

You sent out Emboar; he started with Arcanine.  The large dog growled, baring its teeth – the aggression was quite intimidating and seemed to daunt Emboar.  You knew its attacks might be weaker and more hesitant now…

But, before Kabu could give an order, you had Emboar use Sucker Punch, catching Arcanine off guard and stunning them.  Despite being intimidated, Emboar landing quite the hit!

While Arcanine was trying to recover, you had Emboar follow up the last attack with a Fire Punch.  Not a very effective attack type wise, but it would be fast enough for a quick follow up attack.

Before Emboar could ready another attack, Kabu had Arcanine launch a flurry of Extremespeeds. They took their toll on Emboar, and it was difficult for your Pokemon to get back on its feet.

·As Arcanine was about to start another round, you had Emboar strike the ground and use Earthquake.  It hit Arcanine before it could reach Emboar, and it fainted.

Kabu sent out Ninetales next.  This round was a bit more uneventful, as Emboar got another Earthquake in, which badly injured Ninetails.  But then the fox got in an Extrasensory, knocking out Emboar.

You sent off Drifblim next, the balloon ghost rising high on the residual heat from Emboar’s attacks.  Most people were surprised that you, a fire type specialist, had a random ghost type on your team.  But this was purely strategic.  What most people didn’t know is that Drifblim, like a hot air balloon, could rise higher and faster with hot air.  You used their lack of knowledge to your advantage.

With Drifblim flying high above, Ninetales tried to launch a Fire Blast at them.  Before the move could hit, though, you had Drifblim use Phantom Force.  The ghost vanished, making the fire move miss.  Both Kabu and Ninetales searched around the arena, but Drifblim was nowhere to be found.  Ninetales braced itself for an attack, but didn’t know where to focus its attention.

Moments later, a dark portal appeared behind the fox, and Drifblim flew out, attacking Ninetales.  Between this powerful move and the damage Ninetales took earlier, Kabu’s Pokemon fell, unable to battle further.

Kabu sent out his last Pokemon, Centiskorch.  Luckily for your strategy, just the fire bug’s presence bought new heat to the arena, speeding up your Drifblim.  Kabu immediately Gigantamaxed his Centiskorch, the bug type surrounding itself in energy and quickly taking up the other half of the battlefield.

And you know what?  You had a plan to deal with the giant Pokemon.  It was a cheap tactic, but you knew it’d work.  You had Drifblim use Phantom Force throughout Centiskorch’s Gigantamax time. The giant bug tried to hit Drifblim with Centiferno multiple times, but due to the hot air, Drifblim kept out speeding its opponent.  Finally, Centiskorch reverted to its normal sized form.

It hadn’t taken much damage due to its defense boost, but it was far from unscathed.  As Centiskorch reverted back to its normal form, Kabu surprisingly had it use Crunch, landing a critical blow on Drifblim.

Drifblim wouldn’t be able to last much longer.  It sputtered up and down, trying to keep altitude, obviously exhausted. You felt a little bad doing this… but, you knew it would earn you the win.

You had Drifblim rush Centiskorch, which Kabu didn’t expect. When they were within range, you yelled to your Pokemon to unleash Explosion!  In the blast of smoke and fire, you couldn’t see whether or not it finished the job.  But as the battlefield cleared, you saw both Pokemon, Drifblim laying on top of Centiskorch, fainted.  You had won, with a Pokemon to spare.

After returning your Pokemon, and quietly promising Drifblim a nice treat when you got home, you and Kabu approached each other.

He congratulated you.  It had been a while since he had such a fierce battle!  With an explosive ending, too!  He said he hoped to battle you again someday, and wished you the best along the rest of your journey.

What?

Oh yeah.  You were traveling the world.  Right.

Honestly, though, being with Kabu reminded you what “home” felt like. You felt comfortable with him.  You didn’t want to leave.

And. You broke down and got emotional.  Kabu was rather worried, and quickly crossing the space between you, putting a hand gently on your shoulder.  He asked what was wrong, although you have a feeling he had an idea.

You told him.  You blurted it out.  That you adored him, beyond that of a regular fan.  You… loved him? You weren’t sure yet.  But you knew you had feelings for him and the thought of leaving was a nightmare for you.

It took a moment for Kabu to respond.  He seemed to have to gather his thoughts.  And then, he said it.  He felt the same way.  But he felt you needed to move on.  After all, how could you improve yourself if you stayed here?

But… While he doesn’t want to admit it, because of the age difference between you two, he, too, had feelings for you.  He loved your passion; how you were willing to go to such lengths for your dreams.  You looked up to him for so long, and worked your way towards eventually meeting him.  And even after you realized how hard his training was, you stuck with him!  He admired you.  And he also didn’t really want you to go.

After a long talk, which took place at his home since you both needed somewhere more comfortable to work things out, it was decided that you two would give this a shot.  

You immediately moved in with him.  But, beyond the added romance, the same structure that bought you together remained. You still trained together.  You still woke up early together.  Only now, you woke up before dawn with a kiss and retired to your home – the one you shared.

Hello look at these fuckin dweebs that I love so much. I want more of their antics and goofiness when the dlc comes, please and thank you Nintendo.

Gonna do a read more after the first three gym leaders cause this is a looong post~

Milo:

Poor bean just keeps working.

Workaholic to the core, and very convinced that his Wooloo need him.

Takes like, ten people to finally convince him to just go home and fuckin’ rest.

And also hold him down but that’s another story.

Recovers quickly regardless.

“Weren’t you just sick?” “Yep!” “...It’s been a day????” “YEP! :D!”

Nessa:

Beautiful when healthy, shivering, sniveling mess when sick.

Is always cold. No amount of blankets can stop her from shivering.

Has a very specific Chewtle doll that she cuddles when she’s sick.

Refuses to let people take care of her.

Is denied that refusal and is taken care of anyways.

Stubborn and pouty, but still pretty cute.

Falls asleep for what feels like years.

Recovery time is about as long.

Kabu:

The immune system of a steroid induced ox.

Rarely ever gets sick, but when he does, he has absolutely no clue how to deal with it.

Medicine??? What’s that???

Will continue to train, just indoors.

His biggest support from other people would be just them bringing him food so he can cook.

By the time he’s done being sick, he has absentmindedly cooked so many things that he just gives them out to the league.

Unfortunately for the league, this man has a fast recovery time.

They want more food.

Bea:

Absolutely REFUSES to admit that she’s sick.

Stubborn as well, and she will go until her body refuses to anymore.

Someone at some point will get a phone call, and it’s her sniffling and saying that she can’t get home from the gym.

Kabu usually rescues her.

Is literally just a ball of pent up energy cause she can’t do shit.

She’s basically vibrating.

Needs to take so much Nyquil in order to actually go to bed.

Ends up becoming a Bea burrito with how she rolls herself up in blankets.

Allister:

Refuses to come out of his room.

Will absolutely make a nest bc this is perfect for him.

He doesn’t wanna deal with people, he just wants to play video games and sleep all day.

He has to be physically dragged to a doctors office.

Sometimes, people have a hard time figuring out if he’s sick or not bc he’s basically the same person when healthy.

His ghost pokemon will ABSOLUTELY steal stuff to make sure he gets better.

Opal:

She does the exact same shit she does all day since Bede took over.

This includes reading, making tea, and not moving for hours on end.

Rocking chairs are an absolute must.

There’s not much else to say, this woman is the definition of “I’ve no more fucks to give, my fucks have all flown off.”

Bede:

Absolutely livid.

How dare he get sick?! He’s got too much to do, and too much to train.

He’s not got the time to deal with this tomfoolery!

Will absolutely blame Hop for getting sick.

Then again, he blames Hop for most of his life’s problems.

Gets strangely nice?? Ends up calling Gloria being like “...help.”

Will absolutely cuddle the shit out of her.

Gets strangely clingy and lovable.

Once healthy, he denies that he was ever like that, all with a blush on his face.

Except with Hop. He will absolutely rub it in his face that he cuddled with Gloria.

Gordie:

Has a rock hard immune system, so he like, never gets sick.

Gets whiny if he does tho.

“MOOOOOOOM THIS IS DUMB!!!”

“I’m aware, honey.”

Gets bored, so he makes blanket forts.

Best thing for Gordie when he’s sick? Legos. He likes building shit, cause he gets bored really quickly w nothing to do.

After a quick nap, he’s polished and ready to go. Like, takes maybe a day for him to recover.

Melony:

Knows the best medicine, the most effective shit, and the best methods for getting unsick.

She has to! She deals with ice types!

Will not stop doing things until she’s bed ridden.

Her children will collectively freak out for a sec and then get a system running to take care of her.

Mama bear goes into hibernation. Do not wake her up. You will die.

This is more common than she likes to admit.

Piers:

Please help this man and his immune system out.

The worst thing abt this is he can’t sing.

But he also likes his voice when it’s gravely and rough so he does it anyways.

Proceeds to lose his voice. Proceeds to then look like a lost puppy.

Cuddlebug to the max.

He’s a stick, so he shivers a lot.

Will absolutely have a heated blanket. Don’t test him.

“Piers did you inhale the cough drops again.” “...Yes?” “Gdi.”

Will fall asleep on you for hours.

Raihan:

Anything that comes into his room is now part of his hoard.

Nest? Pfft, that’s for weaklings.

Hoard is a very accurate term for him and his dragons.

This includes people. It’s an entire endeavor if you try to leave his room.

Gets clingy and protective, and knows exactly every little thing that he has in his hoard, and will know when they’re missing.

“Babe where’s my bowl.” “I washed it.” “Nooooooooooooooooooo ;c.”

Grabby hands and literally curling around your body bc he’s so fuckin’ tall.

Curls in a ball w/o you anyways, he’s basically a tired, grouchy cat.

Is back on his feet within a couple of days.

Please let me know if this @ u 8 times and sorry if it did.  I will reply under this readmore but i love this enthusiasm! I like discussing this stuff so if u want keep it coming. I wanna understand deca dence better and i think i will by sharing ideas w other ppl. 

I think kabu and minatos relationship  is as good as it is because theres clearly a lot of mutual love and respect between them even when they don’t understand each other and thats why minato still runs after him when he hears kabu going suicide mission lets go baby. I think its interesting that minato was like ready to lie down and accept getting mass scrapped until he hears kabu go im about to be hilarious and hes like actually living and staying alive sounds great actually forget what i said about it being over.   you are so right about kabu and trust and natsume. I will always cherish episode 5 where kabu gives this big rousing speech about how natsume inspired him and saved his life and minatos there like ..who? ..what?? I think they may not be used to hiding things from each other. Also I think them drifting apart mirrors natsume and feis drifting apart tho I think while feis the instigator on that side kabus more on his side and minato like natsume is like wondering what in da world is going on. I think someone else wrote about this better than I can.

I do think minato does know kabus severely depressed because theres this line in ep 4 where he puts his hand on kabu and says like you’ve toiled enough at that awful job. and also in episode 11 when he and kabu talk and kabu says he was in a similar place as minato now in that he was waiting every day to be scrapped minato has no reaction until kabu says but that bug saved me. I think he knows kabus very depressed but he does not know how to address it cuz the system never gives either of them the tools or options for it. Though also I feel the system discourages meaningful relationships between the cyborgs so I think what minato and kabu have is likely pretty rare. Kabu donetello and turkey also fought together for a long time but turkey turns on donetello in a second even tho they fought together, he was his number two, and they were in prison together, and were pretty much all they got and donetello kills him in turn. I also think minato probably knew because he’s empathetic. Like I’m not sure about compassion but he’s very good at understanding where other ppl are and how to meet them in the middle so both parties get something they want. That’s how he got all the gamers to collect the old deca dence parts. Not by cashing in on ppl doing the right thing but by framing it as the final mission. He gets his lgbt community center coworkers for fight with him one last time by appealing to their sense of duty. He got the system to put kabu in jail instead of getting scrapped when Mikey got scrapped for a lesser offense. The list goes on. A tangent but I think the fact he acknowledges the living conditions of the humans are gonna get worse if nothing’s done even tho he’s apathetic at best towards them shows even when the system tries to mold the cyborgs into the roles it wants, sometimes the traits they have just keep on going despite themselves. I’m gonna stop myself before I go into jill and this theme but I’m gonna talk about it someday. So I think its more likely than not he knew but he didn’t know how to navigate around it also because it’s heavily implied he’s going thru the same thing and I think kabu might genuinely have no idea Bc kabu lacks empathy but his heart... is huge. When he hears minato express his feelings of not knowing what he wants he instantly tries to reach out and explain minatos not alone in what he feels. This is why they’re good foils. while kabu moves past where he was in the start where he states he does not intend to oppose the system and his compliance while also trying to do the bare minimum drives him to suicide, and finds the willpower and a reason to live and rebel against the system through his connection to other people (first natsume , he hangs out w kurenai sometimes too, and then with the jail robots). Meanwhile minato whos stuck in his literal ivory tower (it’s a Metaphor) never makes any of these connections. It’s the irony of kabu working at a armor repair job giving him some ability to connect w others vs minatos higher position isolating him from everyone else. I think kabu living amongst the ppl he harmed drove him to give up on life quicker, while minato being far apart shielded him from rlly having to see the effects of his actions I think he was headed a lil slower in the same direction. I think we’re led to believe minatos okay where he is but I think towards the end it’s clear minato has spent most of the series also in a bad place. I think he views things very similarly to kabu in that he wants to use what power he does have to protect the ppl he cares about similar to how initially kabu tried to just convince natsume to quit several times and he was like whatever at the rest of the humans who are natsumes comrades dying but he chooses to put it all on the line and try for some systemic change when he sees natsumes determination to fight. Also I think minato holds very little loyalty to the system cuz he doesn’t only like breaks 1000 rules for kabu (the hypocrisy) but he also looks the other way a lot. For example, when he overheard the top rankers talk about limiters he’s like I’ll pretend I don’t hear it also turn on private mode next time and he doesn’t berate them for considering cheating. Also donetello has been using an illegal avatar to climb to S rank again (isn’t it interesting that even after the ranked system is abolished something similar took its place). And his avatar looks the same as it did when minato worked with the guy. There’s probably like not that many ppl in s rank. And he calls himself donetello. Minato knows he’s supposed to be in jail but does he tell anyone? He’s like well.. that looks like someone else’s problem if they notice *goes and vapes* it’s so funny how little minato cares but it’s also not funny Bc some of minatos cruelest actions and things he’s complicit in are born not outta malice but apathy to everything. I think it shows (tangent number 4?) how the systems use of excessive force is counter productive cuz neither minato nor kabu are willing to report anything to disrupt the order Bc neither of them think the level of punishment is warranted. I also think that minato is probably the first person kabu really opens up to about why on a personal level he feels the system needs to be destroyed after Ep 7 is really interesting. It really speaks to how deep their [mutual and not platonic relationship I don’t know how to label ] is. I also think that he admits to minato that he envies human is rlly interesting and would like to hear what u have to think! I think it’s interesting that what really sets minato off is kabu saying he wants to choose for himself and also wants other cyborgs to have that freedom and I think it’s one of the few times we see minato get genuinely angry and have it not stem from worry. Tangent 5 I’m really extrapolating here but I think it’s very likely given how high up minato is that he likely knows of several cyborgs that rebelled against the system for similar reasons as kabu and knows how it ends and I think it probably feeds into his defeatist attitude. I think his role in the system must really kill whatever grasp of whatever minato has cuz he constantly has to act like it’s almost the end of the world and he’s strapped for resources all the time for like decades and decades of having to fake that type of desperation to entertain ur player base and cuz ur also on tv to entertain the general populace to distract them from their soul sucking jobs. I think that’s gotta mess with his perception of himself and also his ability to see that struggle as real and genuine. I think that’s also gotta be hard cuz he seems like out of his whole fuck we r under attack persona he seems like he’s a lil closed off but generally chill and somewhat upbeat to ppl who know him and he just wants to be isabella from animal crossing. I got really off track here. I think what really gets me is their relationship is built on knowing each other so well and so long , and how it’s managed to survive and persist through all this tragedy. They really mutually respect and love each other and that’s why kabu let’s minato walk away from his revolution even tho it compromises everything he works for. It’s why minato ultimently accepts kabus willingness to die for a tanker even tho he really doesn’t get it at all and it means it’s goodbye forever. But it’s still not enough to save either of them. Minato can’t save kabu from trying to passively starving himself to death and I’m not sure if kabu even knows where minato is at mentally. Sometimes no matter how close u are to someone there r things u miss and things u can’t help each other with. Even tho the two resolve to fight and then die together cuz this seems like the best choice Bc the system they were born into offers no alternatives, the deca dence doesn’t even activate without the help of other ppl. I think it shows one relationship cant support all that weight. In the end it is through their bonds with other ppl that gets them to an ending where they both survive when they decided alone their only option is death. Also u are so right about the other animals existing I totally forgot ty I cannot believe I forgot about the scorpion which calls to natsumes hairstyle which is a visual gag on how natsumes a bug and how like a scorpion, although unassuming, and fucking kill u, just like how her trying to get her boss to open up eventually leads to the whole thing toppling down. I also have a lot of thoughts about natsume but I’m still thinking of them and thinking hard Bc sometimes she becomes kabus inspiration Pinterest board and I don’t like that. When she shines she really shines but it starts getting sloppy towards the end so I have to think a lil longer about it. Okay I’m done. Also it’s kinda hard for me to look like I’m agreeing to ur points and nodding in this format but I really appreciate ur thoughts and will try to convey this. If all of the gym leaders (minus Opal) played new horizons, do you think they'd all have some sort of theme for their islands, like a food theme or punk theme? Keep it natural or terraform to the max? -Keeping it real

Man, it’s sad, but Opal doesn’t even know what Animal Crossing (pokemon crossing????) is. I think I should mention that the only things I now from New Horizons are things I’ve heard from my sister and that I’ve seen as a resident on her island.

Milo loves the flowers and has a huge orchard. There’s a lot of terraforming so he can fit all of the fruit trees. He also has a microsoft spreadsheet of all the flowers and the hybrids he has/needs. He’s so nice that he’s had almost every villager already. His museums also nearly complete within the first week because he catches every bug and fish he sees.

Nessa doesn’t really care what her “aesthetic” is. She sees a cool thing, she puts it somewhere. She only lets the coolest villagers stay on her island. And if that bitch has fleas? Strike one, two AND three, they’re out. Pack your shit and don’t come back. She barely has anything in her museum because she keeps selling it to pay off her insane debts for upgrading her house so she can fit more shit in it.

Kabu’s not a video game person, but he’s trying. He just kinda goes with everything. So, whenever something happens, he’s like “yeah okay cool.” There’s nothing in his museum bc he doesn’t eve have it. He sees something, he does it. He sells almost everything in his inventory and he never gets the better tools pack. Every furniture item is just scattered all over. There’s no structure, as much as he wants there to be. He tries, but really, he doesn’t know what’s going on so whatever.

Bea’s island is the exact opposite of Kabu’s. She WILL achieve everything and keeps her island very organized. Only the villagers she likes are allowed to stay. Only furniture that matches can exist on her island. All the flowers are just hybrids of the orange one. She has all the fruits organized by row. Terraforming as hell bc anything out of place must be vanquished. The other gym leaders get their ass beat if they break her laws on her island.

Allister makes whatever he thinks looks good. He terraforms a lot because he wants to make shapes. He picks up whatever he comes across so he’s not finished with anything, not the fruits or anything. He keeps whatever cool furniture he finds and if he finds something he doesnt want, he just leaves it on other people’s islands. He changes everything like once a day, too. Villagers just come and go. No real order and it kind of bothers Bea.

Gordie doesn’t really think Animal Crossing is his thing, so he only really goes around to see others’ islands. He breaks laws, he runs through flowers, he just causes problems. He’s been hit in the head by almost all of them. He accidentally scared away a bug Piers really wanted to catch for a model, and he got a boot to the head for it.

Melony thinks it’s so cute and she just does whatever makes her villagers happy. She finds something cute? It’s here to stay. No terraforming because she doesn’t see the need to. She wants all the flowers and fruits, and the rest of it is pretty unimportant compared to getting cute things. She brings a gift every time she visits the others’ islands.

Piers is all about the aesthetic. Only the cool villagers can stay. The only flowers he wants are the dark ones. His museums almost finished already. He’s already gotten a huge house full of punk rock furniture because he paid off his debts by giving a shit load of bugs to Flick. Piers absolutely loves Flick. Like, if Flick could live on your island, he would be Piers’ only villager. Piers does have a spot on his island for fruit trees and it’s kind of like a thrift store/dump where you can take a furniture/clothing item and leave one in its place. He’s got a little market area with the stands. He’s got pathways. It’s very put together but in the organized chaos way. He terraforms, but only a little to make everything look neat.

Raihan pretty much uses the internet to inspire everything he does. He streams every day when he plays only so his viewers can tell him what to do. The others brought him a bunch of fruits and stuff for the museum. Everyone else pretty much did everything for him. It’s neat and pretty casual. Nothing special, but because his audience gets to tell him what to do, there’s a couple strange things. There’s a skull in a remote part of his island that every visitor questions, but he swore to his audience that he would nervously avoid talking about it.

Leon’s island is absolutely gorgeous. Leon may not have an eye for fashion, but designing his island was like second nature for him. He’s got all the best villagers and his museum is complete. It’s terraformed to look really neat and tidy. He has a field of all the different flowers and an orchard. He’s currently trying to get all the fish/bug models. He spends a lot of time going to other people’s islands, though. It makes his fans’ days when he shows up in their islands.

BTW, I’ve seen people make their characters look like the gym leaders and it’s fucking adorable. They all stream together and visit each others’ islands all the time. It’s one of the best things that’s ever happened to Galar.

I want to buy Animal Crossing New Horizons for myself soon. I didn’t really get into New Leaf, but things will be different this time.

Days passed after the match I had againts Steven, and without knowing it, days turned into a month. A month after that and I had to switch off my Rotom Phone sometimes cause the fucking Chairman Rose didn’t stop sending me messages to ask me to have another official match. That man could be REALLY AWKWARD when he wanted something, like asking me to ahve another match, ignoring the rules and conditions I decided in order to have those matches.

With a sigh, I looked at the hour on the clock I had on my desk. I was at my uncle’s house, on my room, trying to repair the music box N gave to me, but after a month trying to find out how to repair it after N gave the music box, things got a bit complicated since most of the pieces were very damaged. 

With another sigh, I picked up everythin and after putting the things on their place, I exited my room, followed by Glaceon. Piers and uncle Kabu went to check some suits for my uncle since Piers and me decided to start checking the wedding things, so I was alone in the house. Glaceon licked her fur while I went back to my room in order to pick some clean clothes and then, I went to the bathroom, followed by my loyal Pokemon. I had woken up later than my fiancée and my uncle, and after having breakfast, I rushed to my room cause I wanted to keep trying to repair the music box, but it was time to have a proper shower or a little long bath before doing more things.

I decided to have a long bath since I felt my body a bit tense, so after filling the bathtub with warm water and throwing a vanilla bathboomb-my favorite one- I closed the bathroom’s door and I got naked. Then, I entered in the bathtub, letting the water and the foam cover all my body as I leant my head back with a heavy sigh. During this last month I thought on the best way to call Looker without having all the Interpol asking me to return with them. How in this damn world I would be able to ask Looker for help without having the Interpol asking what was going on? I shook my head as I looked Glaceon curled on the soft carpet that was next to the bathtub, but it didn’t take her too long to star licking her fur.

“You know, girl, sometimes I ask myself if I did the correct in the past when I accepted working for the Interpol for the first time” I said as I closed my eyes, enjoying the warm water and the sweet scent of the vanilla. After the Gym Challenge, Piers and me would be celebrating our wedding...After the Gym Challenge...That made me think that the Gym Challenge was near its end since the only Gym Leader that was left was Raihan, and then, the finals of the Tournament. Time passed quickly sometimes, but in that moment, I didn’t care. It was my time to relax before doing anything, and in my mind, a song appeared.

“ The valley green was so serene In the middle ran a stream so blue A maiden fair in despair Once had met her true love there...”

I smiled as I kept singing before realizing that the bathroom door was opened and there was Piers, looking at me with a soft smile in his lips. He cleared his throat making me blink twice and blushed madly when I realized that he had been there for some minutes. “You have a very pretty voice, babe” he said entering the bathroom and closing the door behind him as I stood up in order to finish taking the bath. “Did I scare you?”

“No, is just...Damn, I didn’t expect you being there seeing me singing!” I said, trying to control the blush on my cheeks before being wrapped in a towel by my fiancée once I went outside the bathtub after removing all the foam from my body “I thought you were with my uncle checking suits for our wedding”

“We were, but it started to rain very strong and we didn’t have any umbrellas with us, so we came here as soon as we could” Piers said as he let me to get dried and dressed and once I as ready, he stole a kiss from my lips ·Hey, is something wrong?”

“Well, I don’t know if I’m to be able to repair the music box” I said as I got the bathtub empty and then, we went to our room after I put my clothes on the washing machine “Some of the pieces are very damaged”

“Let me see them” he said and after telling him were the music box and the pieces, he examinated them “Is true...But I think we can buy this type of pieces”

“Do you think that we’ll be able to find them? That music box looks very old”

“If we don’t try, we won’t be able to see if we can repair it”

He was right. I sighed as I shook my head while he put the music box and the pieces back on their place before going to the living room, where my uncle was waiting for the rain to stop. “It looks that is a short but strong rain” he said with a sigh.

“Did you find a proper suit for you, uncle?” I asked as I prepared some tea

“Kind of” he replied and I chuckled “The suit I used on your parents’ wedding doesn’t fit me now, and it’s a pity, cause it was from my favorite tailor in Hoenn”

“Well, there are very talented tailors here, so don’t worry” I replied giving him and Piers their cups of warm tea before sighing when my Rotom Phone told me about the appointment I had for today “Damn it...”

“What do you have to do today?” Piers asked

“Call Looker...I have been postponing this during this last month, but I think is time to face it...”

“Kiddo, you don’t have to...”

“Uncle Kabu, we can’t face the furtives alone, and we can’t touch Rose without proofs, you know. We know that the furtives use Macro Cosmos’ tech, but without proofs, we can’t relate them to Rose”

Uncle Kabu looked at Piers, and both of them looked at me with worry as I searched in my phone Looker’s number. And there it was. I took my tea cup with me and went to my room, and after closing the door once I entered, I called Looker. I wasn’t expectating him to asnwer, so when I noticed that it was taking too long to have a reply, I decided to hang out the call, but then, Looker replied.

“Raikichi? Sorry, I was a bit busy with somethign and...”

“Are you alone in your office? Or is that Anabelle with you?”

“You still distrust her, right?”

“I have my reasons for it. Are you alone or not?”

“Yeah, I’m alone in my office”

I sighed in relief and then, I cleared my throat. “I need you for something very important, Looker, and I don’t want the Interpol to know it...At least not now”

“Alright” he replied and I could hear the sound of the blinds “Okay, tell me”

“I’m sure my uncle Nanu told you about this, but we have a big problem in Galar. We have a problem with a very organizated group of furtives that is putting us in danger, specially their elite groups” I said “I tried to ask Chairman Rose for help, but it looks he’s only worried about himself, so I’m alone in this...Well, the Gym Leaders and the Champion are helping me, but...We’ve reached a point on which we need more help”

“I see...You know that the Interpol would want to know about this and...”

“I’m not hoping of returning with them...But if it’s necessary...”

“Will you return?”

“Yes, but I won’t be under the orders of anyone” I replied “I learnt that they had me under their orders cause I was young and they took chance of that, but his time is different. I won’t allow anyone to be over me”

“Some of them won’t like that...”

“They will have to like it” I said and then, I went to see the otuside through the window “Listen, Looker, I have a lot of things that you can investigate. I can send you the data, but please, don’t tell anything to the others...Not until I have decided”

“Alright, but maybe we should discuss this in person”

Damn, I didn’t like that, but he was right. “Alright, the place will be Mototoske, and the day...”

“What about in two days?”

“Two days?!” I said and then, I took a deep breath “Okay, in two days”

“Then I’ll see you in Galar in two days” he said “Raikichi?”

“Yes?”

“I’m glad of knowing that you’re okay” Looker replied “I didn’t have any news from you since you left Kalos and let’s say that I’m glad of hearing that you’re okay”

“You could have called me while I was in Alola, you know”

“Yeah, but I was busy and some in the Interpol wouldn’t stop telling me to ask you to return”

“That makes sense...Alright, see you in two days” I said and I hanged out the call. My Rotom Phone flew around me while I finished my now a bit cold tea and then, I left the cup on my night table as I sat down on the edge of the bed. I ran a hand throuh my hair as I remember all the time I was with the Interpol, and also, the promise I made to N before we left Galar. I promised him to keep being myself if I joined again the Interpol, and I would keep that promise up. “Don’t worry, N...I’ll keep my promise up...” I murmured to myself as I lied down on the bed upright, Glaceon at my side, curled next to me with her head rubbing my arm. “I know, I know...Damn, Sycamore was right when he told me that I looked like I was missing something...Remember the date that we had? Both Sycamore and me were balls full of nerves...He didn’t know how to tell me his feelings and I wasn’t sure about mine...At least, we are still good friends” I said as I stroked Glaceon’s fur. “You know, it looks that my love life was like a roller coaster...First I found myself confused with my feelings, then I found myself betrayed by the man I loved and now...I found myself being rescued by the man that loves me so much...The man I’m going to marry with...Can you believe it, Glaceon? Soon, Piers and me will get married...I’m still making at the idea...”

Glaceon meowed and purred. “Yeah...Piers knows how to help me to heal that wound...” I said as I placed a hand on my chest with a sigh “Maybe...Maybe if things would have been different...”

“Babe?” Piers asked outside the room “Are you okay? Can I enter?”

“Yeah, enter”

Piers opened the door and once he entered in our shared room, he closed the door behind me, approaching me and sitting on the edge of the bed. “Is everything alright, my love?” he asked, his hand stroking my cheek

“Yeah, don’t worry...”

“How did the talk with Looker go?”

“Pretty well...He’s coming here in two days to discuss what we’ll do with the furtives...” I replied as I sat down next to him

“Babe...” Piers said hugging me “C’mon, you know you don’t hace to hold anything...I know is difficult, but you know you can tell me what’s bothering you...”

Piers was right, but I was still thinking that it wasn’t that bad to hold things inside me...Damn it. Those years with the Interpol left a mark on me, and I was still trying to get ride of it. “Sorry, it’s just...”

“Take your time, babe” my fiancée said “You know that your uncle Nanu told me and Kabu about how you got affected by all the things you have to do in the Interpol...”

“I know...And I didn’t notice about it until I woke up on that hospital in Kalos after being near of dying again...” I said with a sigh before standing up and going to the window. Piers stood up as well and went to hug me from behind, his chin on my head before he leant his head on my shoulder in order to kiss my neck softly “I think that I won’t be able to avoid myself joining again the Interpol”

“I’m sure there is another way to...”

“I’m afraid but no....If we want to get ride of the furtives once for all, I’ll have to join the Interpol again...”

“But why? Why do you have to put your life under their choices? Why?” Piers asked, worry in his voice as he made me turn in order to face him, and when I saw the first hints of tears on his eyes, I felt something breaking inside me “I don’t want to see you taking more dangers...I...”

“If I don’t join the Interpol again, I would only have Looker’s help, and that wouldn’t be enough” I said, stroking his cheek as I wipped his tears away “And my life isn’t going to be influence by their choices, cause this time, the boss will be me”

“Raikichi...”

“I know that I’ll have to take more risks than now, but since I’ll be their boss, I will be the one that will take the lead” I said, and then, I smiled softly “And I hope having you and the other at my side”

“Of course, babe” Piers said and kissed me before hugging me “I won’t leave your side...Now, how about going to find a proper suit for you uncle now that it has stopped raining?”

“Sounds good...But I’ll make sure to pick at least three umbrellas” I replied and Piers laughed as we exited my room in order to go with my uncle Kabu to find a proper suit for him.

Two days passed after my call with Looker and I was between being nervous and anxious. It had been a long time since the last time I saw Looker in person, and that was when I told him I was done with the Interpol after being near of dying again...And of course, after saying how broken was Sycamore cause he didn’t know if I would made it after being at the edge of death that time. In that moment, I knew that I had enough, that I should live my life and stop putting myself in more dangers than the ones I take as the World Champion.

With a sigh, I went to the Budew Drop Inn once Looker send me a message with the room where he was in. Of course, I had to be unnoticed, so I managed to get a look that made people not recognize me. Once inside the hotel, I passed a note to the recepcionist and when he nodded, I took the elevator and then, I went to the room where Looker was. I knocked at the door with the morse code Looker told me and when he opened the door, I entered quickly and removed my hat and jacket once he closed the door.

“I’m glad you managed to come here without being noticed” Looker said as he offered me something to drink but I rejected it “Don’t worry about your scars, your uncle told me about them”

“You mean my uncle Nanu, right?”

He nodded and I sighed as I put a folder with all the information I had about the furtives. Looker read the information, including my suspictions about the furtives being related with Rose. “Interesting...Very interesting...” he said “So, you suspect about Rose being related with those people...But no proof to confirm it”

“Yeah, and I hate that” I said with a sigh “We discovered that the furtives use Macro Cosmos tech, but all peope in Galar use that technology...That isn’t enough to relate them to Rose...But I have reasons to suspect. For example, when the furtives attacked the Wild Area spreading wild fires in all the places of the Wild Area, Rose didn’t do ANYTHING to help us. Everytime I asked him about putting more security in that place, he rejected my offers, and it looks that they have been following me these past months”

“Really? Why you didn’t tell me?”

“You’re the first one that knows about this, Looker, but I’m sure that the furtives were following me most of the times...Of course, I can’t confirm it cause I don’t have proofs but...I’m sure that they have been following me the times I travel alone through the Wild Area...Anyways, what do you think? Could you help us?”

“Well, is clear that you need more help to deal with them, but...”

“But they have put some conditions, right? How did they know about our meeting?”

“Annabelle” Looker said “Sorry, she managed to take the information of our meeting from me and...”

“They want me to return to the Interpol in order to get help, right?”

“Yeah, how do you...”

“Do you still have my Interpol badge?” I asked and when he nodded, I sighed before shaking my head “Give it to me”

“Raikichi, are you sure? I don’t want to have Nanu calling me and...”

“This time will be different cause I will be the boss. They will have to obey me since I’m the World Champion and I grew enough to not let anyone to be over me. I had enough to let other people to choose instead of me”

“Alright” Looker said as he gave me my Interpol badge “I kept it in good conditions cause I thought you would want it like the first day you recieved it”

“Thanks” I said taking it and putting it on my pocket

“And what about your...”

“Thanks, Looker” I said “I will try to gather more information about them and if I find any proofs about Rose being related with them, I’ll tell you”

“Don’t forget that we’ll be investigating as well from the shadows since you told me that you won’t them to know about you working with the Interpol”

“Correct”

“Well, then I should let you go back to your duties as World Champion” he said as we stood up and went to the door

“Oh, another condition to work again with the Interpol is that the Gym Leaders and the Champion are going to help us with this”

“I’ll them the others then” Looker said as I put my jacket and my hat on me “Do you want me to tell Nanu about...?”

“Nah, I’ll tell him later” I said and after saying goodbye to Looker, I took the elevator in order to exite the hotel since I wanted to go to my uncle’s house quick. Once we were at home, Glaceon exited from her Pokeball and stretched before rubbing her fur against my leg. “Sorry, girl. I needed to keep it in secret and I couldn’t allow anyone to notice me” I said as I removed the hat and the jacket and then, I went to the bathroom to refresh myself and then, I went to my room to get my current outfit since I was tired of the clothes I had to wear in order to not being notticed. Then, once I was done, I exited the house, followed by Glaceon as I put my black and blue jacket on me. Of course, I had my Interpol badge with me, but not in a place where people could easily spot it.

I was on my way to meet Piers, who had send me a message that he had returned from Spikemuth cause he wanted to check on his fellas, when I heard a commotion near Mototoske airport. Glaceon twitched her ears and when I nodded, she ran off, cause both of us saw that a man was running away like if he had stolen something. Glaceon was quick, but in order to catch the thief, she used Quick Attack to have more speed and then, she used Ice Beam to freeze part of the ground and making the thief fall. “Fuck” the thief said loud enough to allow me to hear it despite of not been near them. “Fuck you, damn Glaceon” he said as he tried to stand up, but Glaceon bite his arm, making him loose the grip he was making around the thing he had stolen and then, my loyal Pokemon picked it with her motuh and went to my side as I approached the thief. 

“Well, well, what do we have here?” I said as I pointed the policeman that they could arrest now the thief “You won’t see the sunlight in a long time”

And with those words, I picked up the item Glaceon recovered from the thief. It was a simple bracelet with a Key Stone on it. It looked very familiar to me, so I allowed Glaceon to pick the scent of the bracelet in order to find its owner. The crowd of people had been dissolved so Glaceon had things easy in order to find the bracelet’s owner, and then, my loyal Pokemon rubbed her fur againts the legs of a tall man that looked that he knew my Glaceon, cause she didn’t protest when he gave her some pets.

“Here, this is yours” I said once the man stood up but then, I moved to a side when he tried to hug me, making him loose his balance and ending on the ground “Are you okay?”

“Yeah, I’m fine...But I was hoping that you would have recognize me” he said standing up again and removing his hat “Hello, Raikichi”

“Oh, Sycamore!” I said and then, I felt a bit embarrased “Sorry, I didn’t know it was you...”

“Don’t worry, at first I didn’t recognize you, but it was your voice that told me that it was you” Sycamore said and then, he smiled softly before blushing a bit when he touched my hand when I gave him the bracelet “Thanks, it happened very quick and I didn’t have time to react until that thief ran away with this...Damn, it looks that it’s broken”

“If you want, I can fix it” I said with a giggle “So, what’re you doing here in Galar?”

“Well, professor Rowan told me that in Galar there was a phenomenon like the Mega evolution but also, very different, so I decided to come here for some days and investigate it” Sycamore said picking up his suitcases “Also, since you asked me for help with wedding ideas...”

“Oh, well, I was thinking on calling you and speak about it”

“But we know that is better to speak in person about wedding ideas and those things, right? My lab assitants gave me a lot of wedding catalogues and I have plenty ideas for...”

“Okay, okay, let’s take things easy and slow, ‘kay?” I said with a chuckle “Where are you going to stay? At Budew Drop Inn?”

“Yeah, it was the only place I could choose to book a room since the other places were full”

“Well, is normal. This year’s Gym Challenge is near its end since the challengers are going to face the last Gym Leader before the semifinals and finals of the Champion Cup, so it’s normal that all the hotels are full of people”

“I see...” Sycamore said as we went to the Budew Drop Inn “Here we are”

“I’ll wait you here” I replied with a smile. Sycamore looked at me and after nodding, he entered the hotel. Meanwhile, I texted Looker to ask him if he was still in the hotel, but he replied my message telling me that he had exited the hotel after me, and he was now in another place reunited with some agents of the Interpol. With a sigh, I leant againts the wall of the building, with Glaceon at my side.

After some minutes, Sycamore went outside, wearing his normal clothes but thankfully, he wasn’t wearing his lab coat. He also brought with him a thick jacket due the cold weather we were having in Galar. “Brrr, Galar is even colder than Kalos” he said

“Oh, c’mon, this is nothing compared with Sinnoh” I replied with a chuckle “Well, now that you’re here, what about showing you the city? I hope you don’t mind that we’ll pick someone with us”

“I don’t think that would be a problem”

"I’m sure both of you will get along pretty well” 

“Do you think that?” Sycamore said and then, he blushed when I grabbed his arm and made him go a bit fast “W-Wait, Raikichi!”

“C’mon, don’t be shy!” I said laughing before letting him go as I went a bit faster “C’mon, Augustine, move those legs!”

“You know I will catch you!” he said as he ran

“Maybe you have long legs but I have more stamina!”

After running to the meeting place, I stopped and strecthed a bit, chuckling when I saw Sycamore approaching before stopping in order to recover his breath. “So, another victory for me, right?” I said with a soft laugh “I told ya that you wouldn’t win me running despite of having long legs, Sycamore”

“Well...I wanted to try...” he said as he sat down on the bench while he recovered his breath 

“You should do more exercise, Augustine” I said with a chuckle and then, Glaceon twitched her ears and meowed happily, running to meet Piers when she saw him “Oh, he’s here” I said with a smile as I went to greet my fiancée with a hug and a kiss “Hi, babe” 

“Sorry for being late” he said kissing me back 

“Don’t worry” I replied and when I saw Sycamore standing up after recovering for our little running, I smiled “I want to present you Professor Augustine Sycamore, a good friend of mine that helped me when I was in Kalos. Sycamore, this is Piers my fiancée”

“Oh, nice to meet you” Sycamore said, shaking Piers’ hand “When Raikichi told me she was going to marry, I was really happy, and I’m happy that she finally found someone to love”

“Raikichi and me were very lucky of meeting eachother” Piers said smiling at me and making me blush “And I should have thank you”

“T-Thank me?” Sycamore said a bit confused

“You took care of Raikichi when she needed it, and well...She told me that it was you who made her start to unlock her heart” my fiancée replied and I blushed even more

“Then, I’m glad that the talks we used to have between Raikichi and me helped her with that, right my chére amie?”

“Okay, okay, I appreciate that both of you are getting along very well, but could you both stop making me blush this madly? Is kinda embarrasing...”

Both Piers and Sycamore shared a look before looking at me, both of them smirking, making me let out a heavy sigh when they said ‘No’, answering my question. With my face even more red than the most spicy Tamato Berry, I turned my back to them, trying to calm myself down as Piers chuckled and hugged me from behind.

“You look very cute when you get flustered with that sweet blush on your face” Piers said kissing my neck

“Fuck you...” I murmured and he laughed before making me turn to face him and then, he kissed me

“Ah, I love you, Raikichi” he said before letting me go after he ruffled my hair softly “So, Sycamore, I suppouse you’ve arrived today, right?”

“Yeah, I arrived today and I met Raikichi after a little incident with a thief” Sycamore replied showing Piers his barcelet “Luckyly, the Key Stone isn’t damage, but I cannot say the same for the bracelet”

“Judging the damage, I think you’ll need a new bracelet” my fiancée said before showing it at me “What do ya think?”

“I could try to repair it, but know that I see it...Is clear you’ll need to replace the bracelet”

“But...”

“But?”

“This bracelet is something very special for me” Sycamore said “Someone that I really care of gave it to me when we managed to find a Key Stone and a Garchompite for my Garchomp...And thinking on the idea of...”

“Augustine...” I said shaking my head and smiling softly as I gave him the bracelet “I know you want to keep it, but the bracelet doesn’t have any chances of being repaired. I’m very glad that you have kept this with you during this time but believe me when I say that it will be better to get you a new bracelet”

“Wait, don’t tell me that...” Piers started to say before I giggled

“Yeah, I gave him this bracelet after the two of us were out, on the wilds, searching that damn Mega Stone...I have to say that Sycamore has a very strong bond with Garchomp, and when he saw me that bond when he fought together with his Pokemon in order to get the Garchompite...Well, let’s say that I had to do the proper accesory that would held the Key Stone” I said before being held by my fiancée who peppered my face with kisses as he said that he was proud of being with me cause I had a very kind heart before putting me down.

“Well, let’s say that first she got angry with me” Sycamore said, scratching the back of his head, a bit embarrased

“Of course I was angry” I said, my arms crossed “You got yourself in danger when I told ya not to go there until I made sure that we could enter the cave without dangers, and there you could see this headstrong professor entering the cave without me and ignoring what I’d told him”

“C’mon you know that other people were interested in the same Mega Stone” Sycamore replied

“Yeah, but you put yourself in danger” I said with a sigh before smiling “You were lucky that I was there to watch over your back”

“That reminds me all the times you run to the danger” Piers said kissing my cheek and making me blush again 

“Well, I’m the World Champion, you know, I have to deal with multiple dangers”

“But being the World Champion doesn’t mean that you have to fight alone, Raikichi” Sycamore said and when Piers nodded in agreement, I sighed heavily 

“I know, I know” I said sighing again “Let’s have a walk around the city, ‘kay?”

Both of them nodded and Piers and me guided Sycamore in order to show him the city despite the cold weather, and we only stopped the visit when it started to rain, so we took the chance to have lunch as well cause it was lunch time. We went to the restaurant Piers, me and my uncle Kabu used to go sometimes in Mototoske, and once we ordered the food, I checked briefly my phone.

“Any news?” Piers asked when he saw me putting my phone back on my bag

“Not yet” I replied with a sigh “Give them time; I gave them a lot of information that they need to check”

“Information?” Sycamore asked, a bit confused

“Let’s say that we have a problem with furtives and we had to ask for help since we are having troubles dealing with them”

“I see...If you need help, you know you can count with me” he said and I nodded

The food arrived and we spent the meal speaking and talking about different things, including some wedding ideas cause Sycamore really wanted to help us with the wedding; I mean, he brought with him some wedding catalogues and when he showed us them, I couldn’t help but laugh. It was clear that he really wanted to help.

After the meal, Piers offered to see if he could find a shop that had bracelets that could be modify in order to insert the Key Stone, and Sycamore agreed, so, while my fiancée went to search that shop, Sycamore and me made our way to place of the city that didn’t have a lot of people due the cold weather and also, the dark clouds that were threating again with rain, cause now, the rain had stopped.

“Can I ask you something, Augustine?”

“Go on” he said, blushing a bit cause when I called him by his name was when we were going to speak about something serious since I was one of the few people he allowed to call him by his first name.

“You still have feelings for me, don’t you?” I asked and then, I looked at him “C’mon, Augustine, we’re friends; you can tell me anything”

He sighed and after few minutes in silence, he nodded. “Yeah, I still have feelings...Since the moment I found out that I had fallen in love for you...You know I tried my best to tell you about my feelings, but I was a ball full of nerves”

“And it didn’t help that I wasn’t sure about what I was feeling cause I was still unlocking my heart after years with it locked” I said with a soft chuckle “And as I told you that day, I didn’t want to play with your feelings cause it would make me feel guilty...Despite of that, I could hear part of your love confession when I was on the hospital recovering from my wounds”

“I know...Wait, what?!”

I chuckled when he blushed madly. “Yeah, I heard you when I was starting to wake up...Of course I suppoused that you had told me the same during the time I was in the hospital, but yeah, in the moment I started to wake up, I heard you...Telling me that you loved me...And I didn’t know what to think cause it was confusing for me since I spent a lot of time with my heart locked...”

“Damn, then I’m sure I’d sounded like an idiot...I was doing my best not to fall asleep cause I spent many nights watching over you and...”

“And I really appreciated that you kept your promise” I said, sitting next to him on the bench “When you took care of me when the wounds I got on my ankles infected, you promised me not to leave my side...And after that, I was the one that was at your side when I told you about Lysandre...”

“Yeah...” Sycamore said and then, he cleared his throat “I remember that you got a bit angry when I told you that I had to get you naked in order to treat your bruishes after I found you in the floor of my lab, cause the wounds on your ankles weren’t the only ones”

“Well, is normal that I felt like that” I said and then, I smirked “And I remember how madly you were blushing when you told me and how you blushed even more when your assistants told me that you were so nervous that you had to call Nurse Joy for help”

“W-Well, it was normal, you know” Sycamore replied, blushing madly and I laughed as he sighed heavily “I mean, you were wounded and it looked that you have bruishes on all your body so it was normal that I had to remove your clothes in order to check your wounds cause...”

“Alright, alright, calm down” I said and he let out a heavy sigh again “You know, if I had been more brave that time and if I had given a step ahead in order to tell you how I was feeling...”

“You wouldn’t have been able to meet Piers” he said and I nodded, grabbing my engagement ring that was on the chain around my neck and closing my hand around the ring “You really love him, and he really loves you...Yeah, maybe I would have prefered to be your lover and I have to admit that after your departure to Alola, I spent many nights thinking on how marvelous would have been at your side, loving you and...Well...But I cannot deny that are happy now that you’ve found love...”

“Augustine...”

“You know, I’m a romantic man, but also, I want to support a good friend like you”

“Thank you, Augustine” I said and then, I smirked a bit “So...when you said that you spent nights thinking of us...”

Okay, Sycamore was more red than the most red Tamato Berry tgat you could find in the world. “Well, I...Ehm...I...” he tried to say before hidding his face onto his hands “Oh, c’mon, why you have to ask me those type of things?...Oh, wait, now I know it...Are you taking your revenge when I teased you about you and Lance when we talked about that in one of our dates?”

“Yes” I said and he groaned, making me laugh “That night we learnt not to drink wine if we wanted to have a proper talk, right?”

“Yeah...” Sycamore said before looking at me and then, he smirked “I see that you and Piers have fun recently”

Oh, fuck, fuck, fuck. I forgot to bring with me the scarf I was wearing before in order to hide the bite mark Piers left on my neck last night; I mean, I wasn’t going to meet Looker with a bite mark on my neck, but now I thought that I should have picked the scarf instead of leaving it at my uncle’s house when I went to change my clothes. “Fuck it...” I murmured as I tried to cover my neck with my jacket collar. 

“I take that as a ‘yes’?” he asked and he laughed when I didn’t reply “So, that means that he’s good at bed, right?”

“Augustine!” I said blushing madly and making him laugh even more “Okay, you win, you’ve got your revenge...But if you’re interested in how Piers is in bed, why you don’t go with us and see it by yourself?”

Now it was Sycamore the one blushing madly at the thought of a three-some with me and Piers. “I...I...”

“Hey, Raikichi!”

I rose my head and I smiled when I saw Piers approaching us running. I stood up and I greeted him with a kiss before returning to the bench. Piers sat down and before I could take a seat as well, he made me sit on his lap. “Did you manage to find that shop?” I asked as my fingers played with the locks of his black and white hair

“Yeah, and they said that they had a bracelet like the one you gave to Sycamore, but they need to know if they have one of the same size in order to see if it fits his wrist” Piers said “So, what do you say, Sycamore? Wanna go and see it?”

“Sure!” Sycamore said standing up quickly and Piers and me couldn’t help but chukle as we stood up as well. 

Together we walked to the shop, with Piers holding my hand as Glaceon made sure that there weren’t any suspicious people around us. When Sycamore asked about Glaceon being on alert and we told him about the disturbing press we had to deal many days, he couldn’t help but cursed them on his native language, and we wouldn’t blame him for that since we thought the same of the disturbing press. 

Once we arrived at the shop, the shop owners started to size Sycamore’s wrist and then, they looked to the different bracelet they had until they found the correct one with the place to put there the Key Stone. Once Sycamore was happy with his new bracelet, he took his wallet to pay, and then, he picked up the bracelet and after saying good bye to the shop owners, we exited the shop.

“Is perfect” Sycamore said examinating his new bracelet 

“And will be even more perfect once I put the Key Stone there, but it will take me a bit of time” I said

“I trust in you, Raikichi” he said

“If I start right now, I’ll be able to have it ready for tonight” I said “Piers, babe, why you don’t take Sycamore to continue the visit around Mototoske while I prepare this bracelet?”

“Sure” Piers said and then, he kissed my lips before hugging me

“Thanks, dear” I murmured before kissing him again and then, I let him go “I’ll call you once I got this done”

“Alright” Piers said and then, he grabbed Sycamore by the arm “C’mon, I’ll show ya how life in Galar is”

I smiled as I saw those two dorks going to continue the visit before Glaceon meowed, calling my attention. With a sigh and a nod, I went back to my uncle’s house as I texted Sakura to invite here to have some tea while I prepared the bracelet, and she didn’t take too long to reply, saying that she would be there as soon as possible. Once I was at home, I started to prepare the tea and as the water was on the stove, I put my tools on the table at the living room. Then, Sakura arrived, with Azabache, her Alolan Persian, next to her.

“C’mon, the tea will be ready in few minutes” I said as she entered before retiring the boiling water from the stove and after preparing it, I served the hot sakura tea on two teacups and brought them with a plate full of pastries to the living room, putting the plate on the table, next to the tools.

“So, tell me” Sakura said after taking a sip from her cup “Do I have to tell Piers not to be a punk vampire?”

“Oh, c’mon, don’t start you too” I said with a groan as I picked the broken bracelet in order to remove carefully the Key Stone and giving thanks that uncle Kabu wasn’t at home and that he wouldn’t be at home until night “I had enough with Sycamore teasing me with the bite mark that Piers left on my neck”

“So Sycamore is here...And I suppouse that he’s still in love with you, right? I mean, he still has feelings for you” my friend said and when I nodded, she smirked. Oh no. I knew that smirk. “Poor Sycamore, how hard it has to be seeing your crush getting married with another person...”

“He took it pretty well, if you ask”

“I imagine...But I can see that there is still few and small hints of the tension that was between you and Sycamore”

“Please, Sakura...”

“C’mon, I can see it, and when we were in Kalos, I told you once that too, right?”

“Yes, but my heart belongs to Piers now and...”

“And? C’mon, maybe is time for you and Piers to try something new”

“Something new?” I said, blinking a bit confused and when I realized it, I blushed madly “No, no, no, I won’t do that”

“Why not?”

“C’mon, Sakura, you are propposing me to have a three-some with Piers and Sycamore”

“Yeah, that’s the plan”

“I can’t...I mean, that would feel bad...Think on Sycamore. He still has feelings for me. How do you want him to accept better the fact that I don’t love him after the three-some? And what about Piers? That would feel like...”

I put the bracelets on the table in order to drink a bit of tea as I thought on what Sakura told me. Doing a three-some with Piers and Sycamore? Part of me found the idea quite interesting, but the other part of me was thinking about if it was to be a good idea since the only one I had sex lately was with my fiancée cause I told myself to have sex once I found the proper person to love. “I didn’t want to force her to be my partner if she was insecure about her feelings, so we decided to be friends” Sycamore said “But I have to recognize that I can’t stop thinking on her sometimes...Damn, I can’t deny I’m proud of her”

I nodded as we approached the hotel. It had started to rain a bit, so I decided to go with Sycamore to the hotel before the rain turned more serious. During the walk, I learnt more about the relationship between him and Raikichi, and how he made her being herself again and stop hidding behind a mask. Then, the question popped in my mind.

“Did you...I mean...”

“With Raikichi? No, of course...But it was clear that both of us were feeling the tension around us...But now, I didn’t do anything with her...You know, she spent three days without talking to me when she knew that I had to help Nurse Joy to get her naked in order to treat her wounds”

“Well, she still feels overwhelmed when we go to help her when she’s wounded or ill...Being with the Interpol has damaged her a lot in that part...”

“Yeah...Oh, I don’t know how busy both you and Raikichi are, but I would like to invite you for dinner here” Sycamore said “It will be my way to thank both of you for what you’ve done for me today”

“That sounds great. I’ll tell Raikichi then. See you at night” I said and then, I went back to Kabu’s house.

----------------------------RAIKICHI’S POV-----------------------

An hour after Sakura went back to Turrfield after taking with me some tea, Piers arrived. I was putting the final details to Sycamore’s new bracelet when he arrived, and I was so focused that I jumped a bit startled when he ruffled my hair. “Sorry, babe” he said, sitting next to me “Whoa, you’ve done a very good work”

“Thanks...” I said and when I was done I put it on the table and sighed in relief “Finally...Now, come here...” I said, sitting on his lap in order to kiss him “How was your guided visit?”

“Pretty well, but it started to rain a bit and I went with Sycamore to the Budew Drop Inn. Oh, speaking of him...He has invited us to have dinner with him at the hotel”

“Oh...Then I should tell you something...”

“Go on, babe”

“Sakura told me that maybe...It would be a good idea if we had a three-some with Sycamore...I wanted to ask you first cause I’m not sure if you will want to do it since it will  be something new for us that could make our relationship stronger but...”

“Do you want to try it?” he asked, cupping my face on his hands

“Yes...But...I mean...I love you, babe, and I don’t know if...Do you want to...”

Night arrived and both me and Piers were waiting for Sycamore at the restaurant of the hotel. Both of us were dressed properly, and I had a comfy but sexy lingerie set under my dress. “Thank you, Augustine” I said, teasing him and giggling when he blushed even more while we took our seats “Oh, here, take this”

Sycamore took the box I gave to him and when he opened it, he got surprised. “I...I don’t have words...” he said as he picked his new bracelet that had the Key Stone on it “Thank you so much, Raikichi”

“You’re my friend, afterall, and I wanted to give you a surprise, so I managed to finish it for this night”

He nodded and then, we ordered a very expensive but delicious wine for the dinner and after near thirty minutes, the dinner arrived. We spent the dinner talking about the plans we had for the next days. I couldn’t help but remember the many times Sycamore and me spent like this, when we tried to express our feelings without success, and there we were, but this time, my feelings and heart belonged to Piers...Then, with the soft sweet of the wine, the topic of the three-some popped on my mind. Raihan took us to the Vault and after telling us that he was going to be at his Gym, he left the Vault. “And where is that restaurant?” Sycamore asked

“In Circhester” Piers replied

“Then we could go there to have lunch after finishing our visit to the Vault”

Piers nodded and after some minutes, breakfast was ready. While he put the food on the table, I gave food to our Pokemon, and of course, Glaceon demanded more pets. “You’re such a affectionate Pokemon, girl” I chuckled as she purred when I stroked her fur

“Can I ask you something?” Piers asked as I let our POkemon and my uncle’s to have their food while we sat down on the table to wait for my uncle

“Sure, go on”

“How did Glaceon become your ace Pokemon despite you started your journey with her and her sibling when both of them were Eevee?”

“Well, she liked to be with me more than her sibling, that eventually evolved to Leafeon. Glaceon always loved to be our of her Pokeball, so I ended bonding with her a lot. Of course, I have a bond with my other Pokemon, but with Glaceon, that bond is special”

“Glaceon has always watched over you, kiddo” uncle Kabu said approaching us when he exited the bathroom 

“True” I said with a chuckle and then, we had breakfast as we watched some Pokemon documentaries in the TV.

“Why is so cold in this town?”

“C’mon, Augustine. Kalos is also cold like Galar” I replied with a chuckle

“But not this cold”

I couldn’t help but chuckle as we waited for Piers outside of Bob’s Your Uncle. It was launch time and we went to the restaurant after taking Sycamore to visit the estatue that was behind the extravagagant mural and also, the glyph that was on Turrfield. Sycamore woke up late since he went to sleep at 1:30 a.m, as he told us when we saw him yawning a bit when we went to pick him at the Budew Drop’s Inn, and seeing him with his winter coat and a big winter scarf made me laugh a bit. 

After an hour flying due the snow that was falling, the Flying Taxi managed to land at Circhester. Once we exited the cabin, we went to Bob’s Your Uncle, with Glaceon at my side. Snow was falling more in Circhester and we had to be careful to slip with the ice and snow that was covering the streets. After waiting outisde for near half an hour, we finally entered inside and the waiter took us to the table Piers had booked, right next to the tapestry, so thanks to my lovely fiancée, I would be able to take photos and see the tapestry while we had lunch.

Once we asked for the food and the waiter brought as some soda to drink, we looked at the tapestry. As I feared, it was damaged due the time it had been there, and part of the inscriptions that the tapestry had were gone, but I hope I could manage to discover what those inscriptions said, so I let my Rotom Phone to take photos of the tapestry while Piers, me and Sycamore talked.

“So, have you choosen your wedding dress?” Sycamore asked

“Well, my friend Sakura send me multiple images of wedding dresses that Piers and me saw, and after discarding all of them except one I liked, she told me to try more than 100 dresses, but yes, I have choosen the wedding dress”

“Wait, Piers saw the dress?”

“Yeah, what’s wrong with that?” Piers asked

“Well, normally the groom shouldn’t see the weddigns dress until the wedding day” 

“C’mon, Augustine” I said after drinking a bit of my soda“I don’t see anything wrong if Piers wants to see me trying the wedding dress since he has seen it in the photos...I know that is tradition not to let the groom to see the wedding dress but...We don’t care about that since is going to be a small wedding”

“I don’t know if all the ideas I have will fit a small wedding...”

“Well, you’ll have to think then” I replied with a chuckle

Food arrived and my Rotom Phone took a lot of photos, so once I considered that I got enough, I picked my phone and then, we started to eat our lunch. Glaceon ate some berries I gave her and now she was watching in order to noticed strange people that could disturbe us. While we had lunch, I had to check my phone few times when it vibrated a lot. Some of the messages were from Sakura who wanted to pick me to try my wedding dress again, and some of them were also from Champions of other regions asking me for an oficcial match. In that moment I remembered would be another anniversary since next month it would be the anniversary of my victory againts Cynthia, something that happened years ago. I smiled softly as I replied Cynthia’s message before continue eating the food.

After finishing the meal and paying it, we exited the restaurant. I was happy cause I got a lot of photos of the tapestry, so I had a lot of material to work with. We decided to go back to Mototoske in order to study those tapestries, so once the Flying Taxi landed at Mototoske, we went to the Budew Drop Inn in order to have more tranquility to study the photos. When we entered in Sycamore’s room, we removed our coats and I quickly sat down on bed, my legs crossed and with my laptop on my lap. Piers had his notebook on his lap and Sycamore, after preparing some tea, sat down next to us. Glaceon curled next to us, finding a warm spot on Piers’ winter coat.

Night arrived and we decided to stop. We managed to write down some ideas and theories about what the tapestry told us, and after some hours with non stop, it was time to take a rest, and leaving the reasearch for another day.

“Tired?” Piers asked kissing my cheek

“Yeah” I said with a soft yawn

“Since I’m going to stay here more days, we can take a small break” Sycamore said while Piers and me put our coats on

“We’ll be seen it these days” I said smiling “You should rest too, Augustine. Don’t make me call you to tell you to go to bed”

“Okay, okay” he said with a chuckle

After we said goodbye to Augustine, we returned to my uncle’s house. It was snowing a bit, but Glaceon was enjoying the weather, making me and Piers chuckle when she jumped happily and danced trying to catch the snowflakes; only to have Obstagoon joining her cause he wanted to play with snow as well.

“Ah, I love this” he said “Walking with you, holding your hand...”

“I love this too...As I love you, Piers”

“The following days we’ll be between the wedding preparations, the study of the tapestries and the Gym Challenge” my fiancée said “And of course, your official matches...Are you nervous?”

“I would lie if I say that I’m not nervous” I said and then, Piers hugged me

“I’m nervous too...But together, will be able to go through everything, right babe?”

I nodded and Piers smiled, making me smile as well as we arrived at my uncle’s house, enjoying the warm of the inside.

Near a month passed and the friendship between both me and Piers with Sycamore grew more. Augustine showed that he was a good and supportive friend for us, and like Piers, he showed excitment when we discovered something new about the tapestries we were investigating. Of course most of our talks weren’t only about history and legends. Sycamore had plenty of ideas for our wedding, and some of them were so good that we ended picking them and adding them to the wedding planning we were writing down on a book.

That day we were at my uncle’s house, reading the books Raihan lend to me as we took more notes. Despite of not being raining, the weather was very cold that day, so we decided to stay inside. Glaceon, Obstagoon and Garchomp were napping in front of the cozy chimney. As we read the books and took notes, we drank the warm tea we prepared with some pastries to acommpany it.

“So according to these, there were two heroes...But according to the photos you showed me of the hidden statue that was behind the mural, there were also two Pokemon...” Sycamore started to say “This is a bit confusing”

“Well, until Raikichi and Sonia discovered the hidden statue behind the wall, all people in Galar believed that therre was only one hero, but Raikichi and me knew that there were two according to the story that the tapestries that the Vault has tell us” Piers said after drinking a bit of his tea

“In fact, I have another theory” I replied after eating a pastry “What if the two heroes that protected and saved Galar from the Darkest Day were in fact...The Cyan and the Magenta?”

“Are you talking about the two Pokemon that are in front of the two heroes in the statue?” Piers 

“Yes...And I have the theory that maybe, the heroes were in fact those Pokemon”

Piers and Augustine shared a confused look before looking at me, even more confused. “I think I’m not following you” Piers said

“Me neither” Sycamore added

“Look at this” I said whosing them the book and the text I translated and written in my notebook “It looks that the heroes in fact were the Pokemon. According to the texts in the books, the two young men called for help when the Darkest Day was happening, and two creatures arrived to help them. Together, they defeated the Darkest Day, saving Galar and all the world. That’s why I say that maybe the true heroes were the Cyan and the Magenta”

Piers was going to say something when we heard a knock at the door, Archer opened it with Psychic and Sakura entered, followed by Azabache, her Alolan Persian. My friend had a HUGE box on her arms, box that she put on the dining table. “Sakura, why you didn’t tell me about you coming here?” I asked as Piers, Sycamore and me gathered our notes and once we were done, we put it on our respective bags.

“Well, if I called you, it wouldn’t be a surprise” she said “Time to try your wedding dress!”

“But I’ve tried it before...”

“I know but I decided to change that dress since the tailor I asked the first one finished this second one and I saw that this one is even better!” she said “C’mon, let’s go to your room and try it!”

I couldn’t reply since Sakura was now grabbing my hand and taking me to my room, leaving Piers and Sycamore in the living room.

MInutes later and after getting undressed and then, dressed with the wedding dress and with the wedding shoes with high heels that I thought I was going to loose balance. The last accesories were the long gloves that left my hands free. The veil had to wait since I didn’t have anything to attach it and to avoid to to fall. “Alright, look at yourself” Sakura said and when I looked at the mirror, I got amazed. The dress was light blue, with some soft not very dark pastel blue, and also, with grey details, and with blue roses and ornaments decorating the dress. The heels were also light blue. “So, what do you think? Do you like this dress or the other?”

“I love this one even more...”

“Then, consider it as my own wedding gift” Sakura said smiling “I can’t believe you’re going to marry”

“Me neither...I have to admit that I’m nervous...And scared...I mean, I’m happy of marrying Piers but...”

“But you’re nervous cause all the things you have passed throught”

I nodded and I sighed, my hand around the engagement ring I had on my necklace. With another sigh, I looked at Sakura and she chuckled. “I hope you don’t mind if Piers sees me in the dress” I said

“He has seen the other dress so go on” she said

I smiled and then, I exited my room. Piers and Sycamore were speaking with my uncle and when Glaceon saw me, she chirped happily and called their attention. The three of them were without words and Piers couldn’t help but blush a lot when he saw me with the wedding dress.

“Whoa, babe” he managed to say as I turned around to show him the dress “You look so beautiful...”

“Thanks...” I replied blushing

“Oh, let’s add something to the dress” uncle Kabu said and went to his room, and after few minutes, he came back, with a box on his hands “Here, open it”

I opened the box and I picked a silver tiara from it. I looked at my uncle and when he nodded, Sakura put the tiara on my hair, attaching the veil to the ornament. Then, she put some light blue roses on my hair too, making a good combination with the dress. “Now you look even more beautiful” she said and made me look at the mirror Archer brought to the living room using Psychic.

“Oh, uncle, I...” I tried to say, tears starting to fall from my eyes. My uncle chuckled and hugged me softly and then, he put his hands on my shoulders “Thank you”

“We’ll do everything to make your wedding the best of your days, for you and Piers” he said

“Now is time for you, Piers” Sakura said

“Wait, what?” Piers said but Sakura was grabbing him and taking him to my room

“I’ll prepare some tea” uncle Kabu said and went to the kitchen while I stood in front of the mirror, my hands playing with the engagment ring that I had on my necklace

“Is something wrong, Raikichi?” Sycamore asked

“Eh? No, is nothing. Don’t worry”

“Then why do you sound worried?”

“Well...I’m nervous...And scared...I passed so many years alone...”

“But now you have Piers, and PIers has you” he said smiling “I know this is an important moment for both of you, but remember that you’re not alone anymore”

“Thanks, Augustine” I said and then, we turned when we heard the door of my room opening and when I saw Piers on his wedding suit, I blushed. The jacket was black, like the pants, and they had golden details. The vest was dark red with golden details, and the shirt was light gray. The shoes were also black. “Look at you, Piers” I said approaching him “You look very handsome”

“Thanks, babe” he said, blushing as well as me

“Sakura, you did well hiring that tailor” uncle Kabu said

“I told you I would only hire the best tailor, and I’m proud of the work he did” my friend said “Look at the future newlyweds. Both of you look like a royal couple”

“Oh, c’mon” I said, blushing a bit

“Is true, Raikichi” Sakura said “Now we need the proper jewelry to match all the things”

“I’ll tell Rania” uncle Kabu said “I’m sure she can find the proper jewels”

“Uncle, I...Wait, Glaceon?”

Glaceon was wearing a light blue outfit that matched my wedding dress and she looked a bit pissed. “I though Glaceon should wear something that matches your dress, so, what do you think?”

“Aww, she looks cute but also, she looks a bit pissed” I said laughing a bit

“Well, she was sleeping” Piers added

We chuckled and then, Piers and me went to my room with Sakura in order to remvoe the wedding clothes and put our normal clothes. Also, Glaceon, who entered with us, got the outfit removed from her and she didn’t took very long to shake herself and lick her fur. Once we made sure that the wedding clothes were on their boxes, we went to the living room. “I’ll leave the wedding clothes here; it would be easier for us to have the wedding clothes here in the groom’s house”

“It’s a good idea” I said and I stretched a bit before taking my cup of warm tea

We had tea while we talked about the wedding and then, I checked my phone quickly before putting it back to its place. Hours passed and night arrived, and Sakura had to return to Turrfield. Once she was gone, Sycamore returned to the hotel since weather was getting colder and he didn’t have with him his winter coat.

Piers, me and uncle Kabu prepared some dinner and after having dinner, I went to my room in order to get onto my sleeping clothes. Once I got my clothes changed, I picked something for one of my drawers. It was my extensible battle staff. The handle had inside the rest of the staff, and when I was going to use it, I clicked a button to make the extremes got out of the handle, getting a large but strong weapon to fight with. It was a gift from my great uncle Drayden when I was still training with the Interpol, and I’d kept it with me since that moment.

“Hey babe” Piers said entering the room and closing the door after him “What’s that?”

“I used to use this when I was in the Interpol and...Well, in Alola when I had to fight seriosly and I didn’t want to use my fists or legs” I said putting the staff back to the drawer while Piers changed into his sleeping clothes after removing his ponytail. “I will have to use it again”

“Don’t worry for that now, my love” he said as we laid down on the bed, covering with the blankets and then, he hugged me “Now let’s have a proper sleep”

“Yeah...” I said with a yawn while I closed my eyes “Good night, Piers...”

“Good night, Raikichi...I love you...”

• A neighboring kingdom that they are in alliance with had a child around the same time, about a month into the preparation for birthday celebration. It was a little girl named Nessa

• To strengthen their alliance, it was decided that Milo and Nessa are to marry when they are 21 and the betrothal will be announced at the Milo's celebration party

• To no one's suprise, the good fairies arrived to the party to give gifts to Milo. There were 7 good fairies.

• First Great Fairy Opal gave her gift to Milo. The gift of Peace. He will be always be a peaceful person.

• Leon gave Milo his gift next. The gift of Harmony as in Milo will be friends with everything, pokemon, human and creature

• Then Raihan gave his gift, the gift of strength. This boy will be swol.

• Bea's gift to Milo was endurance to go along with his strength

• Peirs' gift was voice. Milo will sing like an angel.

• Marnie's gift was optimism. She thought that was very important and wants this boy to be a sunshine child.

• Bede's gift was intelligence. He wants Milo to be a fast learner

• Then there was Gordie. He struggled for weeks thinking of a gift to give but he couldn't find one.

• "I give you the gift of fashion, no that sounds dumb. The gift of sneezing with his eyes opened, no that's even dumber.." etc etc

• Suddenly, with ominous wind entering the room, Oleana, the evil fairy entered

• Years prior, she was defeated by Kabu and was banished from the kingdoms. But Kabu couldn't kill Oleana since if she dies, Opal dies. They two fairies are twins and their magic is intertwined. Opal said she wouldn't want die until the other fairies, who she sees as her children, are ready to thrive without her help.

• "I am here to give a gift to the brat and you can't stop me." She hovers over Milo, "He's a cutie. It would such a shame if he were to die early."

• "Listen all, and listen well! The prince will indeed grow with peace and beauty. Beloved by all that know him. But before the sunset on his 21st birthday, he will prick his finger on a spindle of a spinning wheel and die!"

• She leaves and chaos breaks out. No one can believe that the prince will die so soon.

• Opal can't undo the spell because since birth the two can't undo each other's spells and the other dairies are too weak to undo the spell.

• Gordie piped in, "I haven't given Milo my gift yet. I know I can't undo Oleana's spell, but I can alter it."

• "Sweet Prince, if through this wicked witch’s trick, a spindle should your finger prick. A ray of hope there still may be in this, the gift I give to thee. Not in death, but in sleep. That's what the prophecy will keep. And from this slumber you shall wake, with true love’s kiss, the spell shall break"

• For safety of their son, Kabu and Melony ordered that all the spinning wheels in the kingdom were destroyed. They could just import flax and make clothes. They got most if their money from exporting foods. Those that had jokes spinning fibers into treads, the couple offered them new jobs.

• But the fear of Oleana kidnapping Milo was still there. The fairies argued for hours over what to do next. Bea suggested fighting Oleana, Bede suggested making a deal with her. Etc.

• Leon made a suggestion, "This is probably the most heart breaking suggestion but it's the only way to secure Milo's safety. Raihan, Piers, Gordie, and I will raise Milo as our nephew away from civilization. We will all go by different names and Milo will be returned to his parents the night of his 21st birthday."

• After discussing this further, Kabu and Melony reluctantly agreed. It was for Milo's safety. When he was 3 years old, The squad took him and went to live in a cottage deep in the Slumbering Weald

• The squad could no longer use their magic and they also had hid their wings which meant they could no longer fly.

• They all went by new names. Leon was now Dande, Raihan was Kibana, Piers was Nerio, Gordie was Morris, and Milo was Percy

• Milo grew into a fine young man. He was handsome, charming, and has the biggest heart. He was basically a sunshine child and a gentle giant.

• It took some time for the fairies to get used to using no magic, but they managed.

• To survive, they would raise wooloo, mareeps, and other pokemon to sell wool and other goods. They also farmed fruits and vegetables to sell. They cared and love each and every pokemon. Milo was never allowed to go and sell the goods with his uncles though.

• Over time, Milo met a young girl that called herself Rurina. She was smart and sassy girl that loved to go out to fish and explore the forest and its lakes.

• They became fast friends and loved each others company.

• Milo showed her all the pokemon he raises, she taught him how to swim and fish. He taught her about vegetables and berries, she taught him about seashells. They would dance together by the lake for fun. Etc.

• Though Milo got bummed out when she would leave before sunset, which mean she couldn't stay for dinner. He couldn't go with her when she invited him to her home to eat dinner because his uncles never let him out of the forest.

• When Milo was about 16, she stopped showing up to the forest which made him super sad

• They secretly had crushes on each other

• Then Milo's 21st birthday. The squad had Milo go out into the forest to pick so many berries that the basket will over flow, just to keep Milo out of the cottage long enough so they can get everything ready.

• The plan was to make Milo a nice prince outfit and a huge birthday cake. But here's the thing, they are bad at making things.

• They usually always bought clothes at the markets once they finished selling their goods.

• The fact that they survived 18 years without magic is a miracle.

• Piers and Raihan tried to make the outfit as they bickered over the color but it looked like a hot mess. Poor Gordie was the model for the outfit. Meanwhile Leon tried to make a 21 layered cake that needed a broom to be held up. They should have had Gordie bake the cake instead of Leon.

• Enough was enough and busted out their magic wands after they closed and barricaded the house so no one can see the magic.

• Round two had better results. Piers made the outfit, Raihan cleaned the house, Gordie made a crown for Milo, and Leon made the beautiful cake, with only 5 layers this time.

• Raihan was bitter over not making the outfit and the outfit was PINK. The outfit for Milo should be BLUE. And a battle over color broke out between Piers and Raihan. Gordie and Leon minded their own business.

• Unfortunately the battle of colors caused magic to seep out from the chimney and a murkrow that was owned by Oleana saw this a reported it to her.

• She had been hunting down Miko for the past 18 years so her curse will come true.

• Meanwhile in the forest, Milo ran into his friend Rurina again after all these years. His heart fluttered because she became even more beautiful than he remembered. They caught up and danced by the lake like when were younger.

• Milo invited her over to the cottage to join him in celebrating his birthday. She agreed and Milo ran off to the cottage because he needs to help with making dinner like usual.

• Milo was greeted by his uncles. They had an amazing outfit in a nice green color (Gordie changed it to Green because he was done with Piers and Raihan fighting) and a delicious cake ready.

• For his birthday his uncles are taking him somewhere special. Milo asked his he can take his friend Rurina with him but his uncles shut the idea down.

• Milo went to his room to sulk. The squad felt bad because Milo was most likely in love with Rurina but he is still betrothed to Nessa.

• Rurina went back to her home. Turns out she was Princess Nessa. She didn't want to go to the celebration of Prince Milo's return. She knows she's betrothed to him, but she never met him. She would much rather spend the day with Percy instead after all she was in love with Percy.

• She told her parents about being in love with Percy but they said no and she went like, "fine, I'm going to his humble birthday celebration anyway" and ran off into the forest again.

• Milo got dressed in the outfit and wore the crown. He felt conflicted. He was super happy and excited to finally leave the forest and see what is beyond it but he didn't want to leave the forest without Rurina.

• On foot, the group left to the castle. Milo was in a dark clock to hid his identity

• At an excluded part of the castle, they accessed the part through secret passages, Milo was to get ready for the surprise his uncles planned. Milo was still conflicted. As his uncles bickered over nothing as usual, he saw green light. He was drawn to it that he wondered off to another part of the castle.

• When the squad realized Milo was missing, they realized it was Oleana's doing. They turned back into fairies and scrambled to find him. "Percy, where are you?"

• At the top of the tower. Milo saw a spinning wheel, he never saw one in his life. Something was drawing him to prick his finger on the needle. He did that and he fell asleep.

• Once the fairies found him, Oleana was there to mock them. "He's your precious prince"

• They couldn't present the prince like this. So they placed him in a bed.

• Oleana watched them in amusement and sneared " You might want to check up on that cottage of yours again"

• Before they left to the cottage, they put the whole kingdom to sleep in order to prevent Kabu and Melony from worrying.

• At the cottage, Nessa arrived to find Milo. She was ambushed and taken to Oleana's castle and was imprisoned.

• The fairy squad ran into the other fairies and caught them up to speed of what had occurred. Opal said they must get Rurina because she must be Milo's true love and they need her to kiss Milo. When they arrived to the cottage, it was trashed and all that was left behind if Rurina was her shell necklace.

• They knew Oleana must has imprisoned her so they made their way to her castle

• Oleana had Nessa chained up and said, "I will let you kiss your Percy, aka your fiance Milo, and break his curse, but I won't do that til 100 years have passed." Nessa cursed at Oleana but she left cackling

• The fairies came in on the scene freed Nessa.

• "So Ririna is actually Nessa and you four didn't know." Opal glared. "We never actually met her. We only got descriptions about her from Milo."

• They caught Nessa up to speed and now they must kill Oleana. Opal said she accepted her death so she's okay with it

• They got Nessa armor, a sword and shield, and a rapidash to help her on her mission.

• Upon arriving to the kingdom's entrance, Oleana casted a spell to have torns and vines grow all over the kingdom to prevent Nessa from entering. She managed to get in but now she must kill Oleana.

• Oleana took the form of a mighty Salamance and Nessa had to fight it. The fairies blessed her sword and shield to be able to kill Oleana. After a long battle, Nessa plunged the sword into Oleana's heart.

• Opal held her heart and collapsed. She was dying. All the fairies cried and she looked at all of them and said how proud she was of them. When her eyes closed, she turned into a bouquet of beautiful and exotic flowers.

• Nessa was then guided up to Milo's tower and kissed him, that was something she always wanted to do. Milo woke up and everyone else in the kingdom too.

• Nessa was super happy she gets to marry her true love Milo aka her Percy and same with Milo.

• The two got married, Milo was reunited with his family, Bede was chosen to step up as the new Great Fairy, Nessa was honored as Oleana's slayer, and they all lived happily ever after.

Kabu knows about the Applin rumor, he’s been in Galar for years of his life. He’s just never really thought about it, Applin is a Grass/Dragon type and he’s the fire type gym leader. That, and he had his own sort of things from back home. Like a Luvdisc, but you can’t get those in Galar. He thought it was a cute gesture in general, and the idea behind it was nice.

When you presented him with the Applin though, he was trying to figure out how to present you with a Luvdisc. He could get you a picture of one, or maybe order one of the Luvdisc necklaces that had become pretty popular back home… Or maybe he’d take you to Hoenn in the next offseason?

Your walking into the room and clearing your throat caught his attention. He offered a smile and turned to face you, taking note of you holding one hand behind your back. You two talked for a bit, though you didn’t pull the other hand out until quite a bit later. After you asked him if he knew about the Applin rumor, and he confirmed that he did.

You pulled a Love Ball from behind your back, your recently-evolved Flapple excitedly bursting from his pokeball to sit on Kabu’s desk to watch him. He was just as eager for this as you were, even back when you first explained to him what you were doing. Kabu had a hunch what was happening after seeing Flapple and smiled at the thought while releasing the little apple pokemon into his other hand.

She wriggled for a second, then looked up at him. Then at you, then Flapple. Then she chirped excitedly and tried to position herself to nuzzle Kabu’s hand. Kabu gently moved his thumb so she could nuzzle that, and laughed softly at the feeling. It tickled. He set her pokeball beside Flapple and got up, making sure to hold her where she wouldn’t get hurt when he kissed you.

Maybe he’d use her to cover challengers bringing water-types. He’d have to see how she liked battling first. And if it was okay with you if he used her for battles. Otherwise, she’ll sit with you in the stands to cheer for him.

I wrote a whole back story, could have been fic or something lmao. 😭

I also feel like I need to apologize for being so cheesy, I can't. Nevertheless, I hope you enjoy it! My writings alright.

You were having dinner with your family since faraway members had come to visit. It was cold season so you were eating warm homemade food (I imagined some Tamales not gonna lie). You leaned into your big black jacket that you placed over your chair and drank from your cup of tea (or favorite drink).

"Do you have a boyfriend yet, (Name)?" A nosy family member asked. You shook your head as you stuffed food into your mouth to avoid talking about it.

"I thought you were seeing someone?" Another member asks. You couldn't avoid the question after you swallowed your food.

"It didn't work out."

"You're still young, you have plenty of time to find someone perfect for you. They're just old and jealous!" Someone defended you. You grinned appreciatively and ate much more comfortably. You snuck some food to your Ninetales as well, who laid elegantly under the table, completely inconspicuous.

You had other Pokemon but you and Ninetales went way back. It's been battling with you since its days before touching a Fire Stone, it practically grew up with you. After the dinner and minimal socializing you went home then straight to bed with your Pokemon curled up by your legs.

You liked to go out, get fresh air for both yourself and your Pokemon. Ninetales was always outside its Pokeball unless it really wanted to be in it. It liked walking and prancing around you happily, it was always energetic in the mornings. Something you couldn't relate to but you tried for Ninetales.

Galar got very cold during winter season, it was good weather for big jackets though and that's one thing you liked. Ninetales ran ahead, it knew you where you always went to sit down at the benches or grass but today you were doing something different and Ninetales didn't know.

"Wait! Ninetales!" You called for it before running to catch up with it. Someone with a jacket similar to yours turned a corner and you accidentally shoved them. A Sizzlipede fell from the top of their jacket, your eyes widened for moment.

"I'm very sorry," You crouched down and offered the palms of your hands to the small Pokemon. "I won't hurt you, I'll put you right back where you were. I promise."

The Sizzlipede glanced up at the person you shoved and so did you. Your gaze shifted back almost immediately after though when you felt the Pokemon crawl onto your palms. They took the Sizzlipede back and placed it on their shoulder, then on it's own, it made it's way into their jacket, around their neck.

"Thank you."

"You're welcome, have a good evening!" You nodded at them and they nodded back as they watched you catch up to your Ninetales. You placed your hand on top of its head then slid your hand downwards to flatten its soft golden fur.

"We're actually going to a cafe today, sweetheart. They had treats that I wanted you to try," You explain to your Ninetales that had tilted its head to the side. Hearing the word "treats" had it hopping around excitedly again and it followed you to where you wanted to go.

Once you got to the cafe, you were greeted by a maid who guided you to an empty seat. She said she would be back to take your order in a bit then when she left, you started looking over the menu.

"I highly recommend the Spicy Liquid treats for your Ninetales," A vaguely familiar voice speaks from beside you. Your gaze moved upwards and you blinked owlishly at the person. You recalled their jacket that covered half their face straight away. They were the person with the Sizzlipede scarf.

"Thank you, would you like to sit down? I'd like to hear what else you recommend, if you don't mind of course."

"Yes, thank you." Their voice was starting to give you the impression that this was a male. They unzipped the part of their jacket that covered their face and you saw an older man with chisled features that trapped the attractiveness that he most likely had since his youth.

"I'm sorry about earlier," You comment, a nervous chuckle leaving your mouth. He shook his head dismissively while a reassuring smile pulled on his lips.

"It was an accident. What is your name?" You introduce yourself and Ninetales since it happened to be nearby. It stared curiously at the man sitting across from you then waved its tails from side to side before going back to socializing.

"I'm Kabu," He said. Your eyes squinted when you heard the name, it sounded like a name you should know. You placed a hand on your temple and gave a short sigh.

"I know who you are, you're the Gym Leader at Motostoke, right?" He acknowledged your question with a brief nod.

"I hope that doesn't change anything...?" You instantly shake your head.

"Not at all! It's a realization I had is all. You're still human aren't you?" He mimicked the smile on your face and the both of you made friendly conversation. You noticed how easy it was to talk to him, the conversation felt natural, almost as if you'd known him for a long time.

He shared with you that his Ninetales very much enjoyed Spicy Liquid treats and assumed yours would too. He asked about you, if you battled, what you do, and general questions about you. Getting to know you was definitely the highlight of his day and he was looking forward to meeting with you again.

You couldn't stop grinning on your way home as you thought about your conversation with Kabu. Perhaps you developed a small crush on him, and the erratic pounding of your heart when you so much as thought about him told you so. It was quite ridiculous, why in the world would he want to be with someone of your age? And if you considered his appearance, you had no chance at all.

That's what you had assumed anyway. He called for you to meet him with him again, same location. You were eager to see him again therefore the answer was an immediate yes. Kabu felt that same eagerness to speak to you again and that's why he had invited you out. He could not get you out of his head ever since you knocked off his Sizzlipede. It must have been fate that he found you again in that cafe he frequented.

He gradually became addicted to your presence as did you. It became very clear that you two were absolutely smitten with each other. He occupied the space in your head more often than not and at some point you realized you wanted him around you as much as possible.

"Kabu."

"Yes?" He glanced at you, taking his eyes of the snowy scenery. You struggled to get the words out of your mouth, you kept parting your lips then closing them again.

"(Name)?" He placed one hand in his jacket pocket while the other reached out to hold your hand. "Take your time, tell me what's on your mind."

"I... I... love... you?" He was speechless and concerned. Why did that sound like a question? He was stunned, this entire time he was thinking you couldn't feel that way about him but you do. His steps halted to face you properly and hold both of your hands.

"I love you too."

"Oh, you do?" Your eyes widened at the revelation, huffing in disbelief. This moment played in your head a million times and each time you practiced an apology and braced for rejection.

"Yes, I do."

The world around you was still, there was nothing but silence between the two of you and bubbling anticipation in your chest. Seconds of nothing turned into minutes until you pulled on his hand, causing him to trip forward. Your lips barely touched his in that short kiss.

"Let's just... take things slow." Your smile exposed the pink on your cheeks much more and his face copied the color.

"That would be ideal."

As the relationship developed, the physical contact became more frequent, the kisses became longer, and the attachment to each other grew stronger.

At times one of you would have a good day and smother the other with kisses. This one time it happened to be Kabu, you could barely get a word out.

"As much as I love—" He interrupts your mouth with his. "This is great and all but I can't make conversation like this."

"I think the noises you make when we kiss carry the conversation just fine." You hold his face away from yours, desiring nothing more than to get lost in his dark eyes.

"I love how I can just look at you and be happy, must be a new phenomenon," You said. Gently, you pressed your forehead against his and both found satisfaction with feeling the other right beside them.

"This is not a proposal, but would you want to get married at some point?" You considered his question carefully, you didn't know about anytime soon but...

"Only with you."

You'd been together for a long enough time to consider a lot of things in this relationship. Your family knew you were seeing someone, they were surprised it lasted so long. They were even more surprised to find out you were still with him as of now and they could actually meet him.

"Meet your family?" He questioned. He never once considered this, for some odd reason he had forgotten this was part of a relationship. "Are you happy? Truly, are you happy being with someone like me?"

"Someone like you? What in the world does that mean?" You took hold of his hand before continuing. "You know, they honestly thought I was going to just be alone for the rest of my life with Ninetales."

"Answer the question."

"Kabu... Of course I'm happy being with you. If it's the age gap you're worried about then stop stressing over it." You brought his hand up to your lips and kissed the back of it. "I knew exactly who I was confessing to when I did so, did you not?"

"I... I did, when I responded to your feelings as I did, I knew what I was doing." He ran a hand through his hair, reminding himself that it's clearly gray. "I'm not sure about meeting your family, (Name). They may not be pleased with you being with someone older, there could be someone better around—"

"There's no one else I would rather be with. If you leave me, I have nothing. Don't tell me I do because I don't," You cut his sentence off harshly. "My family may find it weird, sure, but it's my life, I can be with you whether they approve or not and no matter the outcome, I'm staying with you."

You were having dinner with your family and Kabu, who sat next to you wearing a white button up with the first two buttons loose. Mostly to your request, he looked really good in your opinion.

"Into older men now are you?" That same nosy family member from the last dinner a long time ago scoffed. "He could be with someone much more... mature."

"Yeah, he's with me," You answered sharply. "Thank goodness he's not with someone like you, am I right?" Kabu chuckled under his breath, he didn't know he could love someone even more than he already did.

"Watch it, brat—"

"Honestly woman, are you mental?" The family member that defended you before speaks up. "You can't mind your own business and be happy for someone! It's no wonder you're on your third marriage."

You and Kabu nearly spit your drinks at the newly acquired knowledge. That nosy member ate her food in silence after that. The one constantly defending you smiled at the both of you.

"I hope the both of you enjoy your relationship, if (Name) is well taken care of, we will approve of you two for as long as we live." Kabu nodded gratefully at this family member while he squeezed your hand under the table.

You said your goodbyes to the family, except the rude one, you pretended not to see her. You shut the door with a long and tired sigh before turning around then heading to Kabu who sat stiffly on your couch.

"You can relax now, you know?" His gaze flickers over to you, but he doesn't say anything. He merely stares at you as if he was contemplating something.

"Is there something I can do for you?" You let the short laughter out of your chest. He held your hands tightly. He appeared nervous, but you had no clue why.

"...marry me?"

"Pardon? Did you just— is that a proposal? Oh, wait!" His crestfallen appearance made you panic. "I would love to marry you! It was just so sudden! Yes, I want to marry you, I would love to!"

Surprisingly enough, he had a ring and everything. He had been planning the proposal for a while now but ultimately decided for a simple approach. After your family pretty much calmed his worries, he felt relieved because you complete him now.

"You were the biggest plot twist in my life, but I am grateful that it happened," He said, wrapping an arm around you with no plans of letting go.

"I Choose You!" Leon X Reader One-Shot

Galar Region

          You are laying in bed at your hotel room in Motosoke at the Budew Inn. You had just beaten the Gym Leader Kabu and his fire type pokemon with your trusty sidekick Scornbunny, who had been given to you by your friend Hop's brother Leon. Scornbunny and you had this connection the first time you two had layed eyes on each other. It was almost like you two were meant to be. This is why picking the small fire rabbit was so easy for you.

Year 2020

          As you started to get up from the bed, you looked out the window to see that it was raining outside. Looking over at Scornbunny laying on the floor in a corner you began to chuckle to yourself. Luckily, the carpet is soft and not to rough for the creatures' fur, giving him some cushioning to lay on while he slept.

          Getting up from the bed, you want to go take a shower, brush you teeth and get ready for the day. After showering and finishing up your hygiene in the bathroom you grabbed your [F/C] simple dress and put it on, along with her [F/C] high top socks and equally as [F/C] combat boots. Looking in the mirror you didn't know what you wanted to do with your [H/L] [H/C] hair that day, so you decided to brush the knots out and let it hang down for the day.

          After waking Scorbunny up you were all set and ready to go out the door. As you left the apartment you ran right into Hop, Leon's younger brother who was equally as excited as you were about continuing on to the next gym.

          "Hey [Y/N]! You all set and ready for the next Gym Leader? I heard Allistar is pretty tough and doesn't take it easy on anyone!" Hop said in a very excited tone. He seemed to be really pumped about taking on the Ghost Type Gym Leader.

          "Yeah, I would say I'm pretty excited as well. Winning this will turn into my next stepping stone for beating your brother in the finals." you had stated more calmly but still as excited as Hop.

          "I wouldn't get too sure of yourselves about that!" ??? Said

          You snapped your head around to see the one and only Champion Leon standing behind you in his usual outfit and crown design hat. As he steps closer to you and Hop his 6 foot tall frame towers over you're [Y/H] height. You begin to feel flustered by the sight of him and lose your words. Leon notices you expression and looks at you while giving you a smirk.

          "What's wrong? Meowth got your tongue." he says sarcastically while tilting his head slightly.

          "I-I ... I-uhhh.." you muster out in a weak tone. You begin to get frustrated not knowing why all of a sudden you can't come up with a decent response to his witty remark. As you are standing there lost in your own thoughts Leon can see the annoyance on your face.

          "Hey hun, I'm just messing with you. It's ok." he states in a tone that sounds apologetic while walking up to you and placing his hand on your shoulder.

          "Riiiiggghhht..... Yea... I knew that!" You respond back in an unsure what to say tone. "Well anyway as I was sayi-"

          "How about we all grab some breakfast or coffee before you guys decide to continue on with your journey, shall we?" Leon states cheerfully cutting you off in the process. "I know a really good place where you can get some really good coffee. It's called the "Battle Café", it's most definitely worth a try." Leon continues on.

          "I would, but I'd much rather train up my team for the next gym badge, so I can beat [Y/N] next time I see her again." Hop says confidently to you and his brother Leon. Hop then proceeds to run off without saying another word. You are then left standing there in the hallway of the hotel with the one and only Champion Leon.

          "I guess ... that just makes the two of us! If, you are still up for having the best coffee in town." Leon says confidently. While staring back at you waiting for your response.

          "Yea. Sure we can get some coffee together. What's the name of the place again?" You respond questionably.

          "It's the "Battle Cafè". Come on! Follow me and I'll show you where it is, and this time I won't get lost." Leon answers while gesturing his hand for you to follow as you both make your way to the hotel elevators so you guys can head back to the main floor. As you both were heading out and too the cafè, you couldn't help but fixate your [E/C] eyes on Leon. It was almost like something about him put you in this trance-like state. You watched as he turned to look back at you. His golden amber eyes locking onto your shimmering gentle [E/C] eyes. It was like there was something about you just couldn't re-

          "HELLO! Galar Region to [Y/N]!" Leon said loudly.

          Your thoughts were immediately cut off and your face became red. Feeling stunned and taken a back at the sudden interruption of thoughts you're [S/C] was starting to become visibly even redder. You stood there dumbfounded and the only thing you could muster was:

          "S-s-sorry  ... I must have been dozing off into space." You stammered out the best you could while putting your arm on your other arm and tilting your head down so that your [H/L] [H/C] covered your extremely red face.

         "I was gonna shake you if I couldn't get you to stop staring at me like that. Hahaha!" He stated happily. As if your face couldn't get even more red, it did. You began to shrink down even more and shake alittle from all the emotion you were feeling. Leon noticed you were not ok and rested his hand on your shoulder gently.

          "Hey, are you ok? You've been out of it lately. If you do want we can go back to your hote-

          "No! I'm fine! Everything is fine. I guess my mind has been else where lately, but I would still love to be around you." you shout loudly while cutting Leon off abruptly.

          "Very well my lady. Let us go inside and grab something." Leon replies back with a causal but charming tone. He gracefully grabs your small hand and brings you inside the Cafè. He asks the waiter at the front for a table for two and as you both make your way over to your assigned seat, you could not help but blush more at how well put together and gentleman like he was.

          As you both sat down from across each other the waitress walked over to take both you and orders of drinks.

          "Hello, what can I get for the two of you today." The chipper waitress asked.

          "Two orders of your finest coffee please." Leon stated. The waitress then walked off to get your cups of coffee and both you and Leon were left there to too look at one another until a conversation sparked.

          "So are trying to bring me on this date to smooth talk me into how I plan to kick your butt when I battle you." You remarked jokingly at Leon.

          "Haha! Very funny, but no actually. I wanted to just talk casual with you. Get to know you more as a person, not just as a trainer." Leon replied back.

           "Really? You wanna know stuff about me? What would you even wanna know about me, because my life isnt all that exciting as yours." You replied.

           "I beg to differ, if I may. I'm positive you are more interesting than you found yourself to be, and my life is more stressful than exciting and sometimes, I just wish to get away from it all." Leon responded

           Listening to his response did raise your attention quite alot. "But, if it stresses you out. Why do you do what you do then? I'm sorry if this question seems silly, but I am confused." You questioned.

           "There is no such thing as a silly question, so you are fine. To further elaborate, what I mean is I set out on my journey to be the greatest pokemon trainer of the Galar Region, not to sign my life away and become some brand to the world. I wanted to do it to inspire others. To show them that if somone like me, a person who came from nothing, was able to it! Anyone can do it too!" Leon explained proudly.

           You couldn't help but fall even deeper for him after him saying this. It was comforting to hear him talk like a person instead of this facade he walks around portraying to the whole entire region of Galar. "So -."

          "Well, I might as well stop talking about this. I don't need to be throwing all my Champion life problems onto you. I got myself into this mess after all." Leon stated with great sadness to his voice while cutting you off.

          You looked at him and could see the pained expression on his face. He was definitely bothered by it all and despite him trying to hide it. It was showing more and more as you kept talking.

          You felt compelled to reach your hand over and grab his hand gently but firmly.  He raised his head a bit and his amber eyes looked back into your [E/C] eyes. As your eyes were locked onto each other, you knew in that moment you really loved this man and wanted to be with him.

          "Hey, I just want to say. It's ok, and if you need someone to listen to what really goes on in your head, I am here. You don't need to pretend anymore." You stated softly to him. You could see tears start well up in his eyes for sec and then they dissapeared.

          "T-thank you." Leon stammered softly.

          The coffee than arrived and you both drank it together and made some causal talk with one another. Leon learned that you also liked to walk around the Wild Area quite alot and you learned that he often enjoys making pasta and curry for people. As your conversation continued on you knew you were knee deep in love with him and there was no escaping that.

          After you guys finished your 3rd round of coffee. You realized how late it was getting. It was literally a quarter past 7. You guys have been talking for quite some time. After Leon payed for the check you both than proceeded to walk out and make your two separate ways, but before you were able to go Leon grabbed your arm as you were turning to leave. You stopped and looked back at him and saw he had that same expression he had on earlier when you saw him cry alittle.

          "Are you okay Leon?" You asked calmly. He looked at you for a bit and slowly moved towards you. You guys were about a few inches apart and this made you realize how much he towered over you. You knew he was tall, but never realised how tall. This caused you to blush slightly having him this close to you and looming above your small stature.

          You stare up at him, lost in eyes unaware of your actions anymore you find yourself going up on your toes and planting a kiss on face. Since you are so short you end up missing so your top lip came into contact with his bottom lip. Leon stiffens slightly and you feel as though you made a mistake doing this until Leon pulls back alittle and returns the favor with a proper kiss, not missing this time.

          Your eyes widen slightly surprised at his reaction, but you start to relax. You carefully but slowly  wrap your arms around his neck and let your body arch back slightly to allow you to brush up against his chest until there is no gap between you two. You melt into the kiss and allow him to slip his tongue into your mouth for alittle bit. After a few minutes you both proceed to let go of each other so you both could breath.

          Leon looks down at you and smiles his charming smile at you, the same smile that caused you to fall head over heels for him in the first place. "Good luck trying to beat in the final match now." He teasingly remarks while his arms are still wrapped around your waist holding you close to him.

          "Oh hush! You're not THAT charming!" Yoy playfully respond. Leon raises an eyebrow at you as if indicating he doesn't believe what you said, but you just playfully push him and laugh. "I'll see you tomorrow. I gotta head home." You say while turning to leave.

          "We should do this again sometime. You are a comforting person and I haven't felt that feeling in such a long time." Leone states while turning away and making his way back home. You watch ad he leaves and you couldn't help but blush and smile to yourself.

Basil held Rose’s hand under the table, good leg bouncing nervously as he tried to keep up with the conversation.  Everyone was talking so quickly, and there were so many numbers, and terms, he couldn’t keep track of them all.  He hoped Rose wouldn’t try to ask him to add to the conversation, he was completely lost.

Rose gave him a quick smile and squeezed his hand as someone else started to talk, reassuring him that it was going well, and he was doing a good job.

“Yes, I agree.  I think that if we were to--”

Rose’s thought was cut short as the door slammed open.  “Chairman Rose, Sir, I -- “  Bede stepped inside confidently, until he realized he was interrupting, and his shoulders hunched.  “I’m sorry, Chairman, I didn’t realize...”

Roses’s smile never faltered, but the look in his eyes quickly changed.  “Young Bede... You’re interrupting.  Where are your manners?”

“I’m sorry sir.”  He stared at the floor, sulking over at Rose’s beckon and taking a seat on his other side silently.  Basil watched him hide his face in the collar of his coat, the eyes of the board members all on him.  He straightened up his posture and looked back towards the group at the table.  If he wasn’t on his best behavior, Oleana would punish both of them for this...

Bede held the letter in his shaking hands, severe eyes barely making it past the first line before he was overcome with the urge to rip the letter into a million pieces and never look back.  But he knew he wouldn’t do that.  He couldn’t bring himself to do it.

He took a deep breath, and started the letter over.

Dearest Bede,

I hope this letter finds you well.  I know must not mean much coming from me right now, but it is the truth.  You have been at the forethought of my mind since our argument at Stow-on-Side, and I will be eternally grateful to Opal for opening her home to you, and seeing to it that you’ve been safe in my absence.  It warms my heart to have seen how far you’ve come as a trainer, and now a gym leader.  I always knew you’d find your place in the world.

I know It’s hard to understand, but believe me when I say, things are better this way.  For you, and for Basil.  I want you to remember me as someone who did everything I could to keep you safe.  Everything I did, I did for you.  For Galar.  Sometimes in life, we have to do the right thing, even if that makes us the villain.

I’m not asking you to forgive me.  I’m not asking for your pity.  I only wish that you know how much love I have, for you and your brother.  From the bottom of my heart, truly, I am sorry.

Bede was gripping the fancy paper so hard it was starting to crumple in his grip, anger coursing through him like boiling water.  How dare he?  The nerve!  He abandoned them!  He can’t just drop them like they were nothing, only to come back when he wanted something!  He scanned the letter again, searching for a clue of what possible motive could be behind the sudden letter.  Why now..?  Why...?

He was brought back to the present by a sharp stab to his chest.  He looked down, smiling slightly as his Rapidash nudged his chest again with her horn, looking concerned.

“I’m alright.  There’s no pain there you’ll be able to heal...”  He pet her mane gently, though he didn’t think the healing energy his Rapidash tried so often to use could heal a heartbreak, the act of trying was healing enough.  He leaned back against her and shoved the letter in his pocket.  “I know, I know.  You’re worried.  You’re always worried about me, sweet thing...” 

He laid his head back against her flank and looked up at the stars, listening to the sounds of his team running and playing as they camped in the deep, dark center of the Glimwood Tangle.  Sylveon hopped up into his lap and curled up, licking his hand.  

“You’re worried too, huh?  Is it that obvious?”  He chuckled.  “Well don’t worry about me.  I’ll be okay.  If you’re gonna worry about someone, worry about... Basil.”  He sighed.  “Arceus, don’t send him a letter Rose... Don’t do this to him...”

“KABU!”  Basil kept an arm up, trying to shield his face from the whirlwind of sand making it impossible to see a thing.

“It’s okay, keep going!”  Kabu called through the swirling debris.  “Keep going!  Trust in your pokemon!”

A maniacal laugh tore through the blinding storm, and Basil turned towards it.  “There!  Go!”  He pointed, and Scorbunny and Nickit dissapeared into the storm too.

There was a quiet sound of confusion, but he didn’t hear the sound of an attack being made,  Suddenly, it was quiet.  Too quiet.

“Scorbunny?!  Nickit come back!”  He called, and in the same breath let out a cry as two claws grabbed him under his arms and lifted him into the air.  “HELP! NO!”

The storm began to clear, revealing two very confused looking Pokemon looking dazed and lost.  On the other side of the gym stood the Dragon Tamer himself, hands on his hips, laughing at Basil who was now dangling in the air, being held up by Raihan’s Duraludon.

“Close!  You almost had me that time kiddo!”  He teased, stepping up in front of him and poking his stomach with a grin.

Basil kicked at Raihan’s hand.  “Stohop!  Tell him to put me down!”  He pouted.  “Kabuuuu tell him to put me dooown!”

Kabu laughed from the sidelines.  “You didn’t trust your Pokemon enough!”  He called, which made Raihan laugh again. 

 “Okay, you’ve had your fun you can put him down now.”  He ruffled Basil’s hair, laughing as a dust cloud poofed up from him.  “You’re gonna need a bath after today!” he teased.

“Ugh...”  He dusted himself off.  “I’m never going to be able to do this...”

“Sure you will buddy!  Just keep practicing!”  Raihan encouraged.  “You’re a strong trainer, you just need to trust yourself more.  Don’t second guess yourself!”

Kabu pat his back.  “Head for the showers, kid.  You did good today.”  

Basil smiled at the praise and grabbed his cane.  “Thanks Mr. Raihan...”

“Any time kiddo!  Always up for a good spar!”

Basil waved shyly before rushing out of the gym with his Pokemon following close behind.  He was in an exceptionally good mood today, the excitement of the exibition matches happening over the weekend were already getting to him, the chance to meet the rest of the gym leaders was exciting enough as it is, but knowing that Bede would be in town, and that they’d get to see each other in a few days?  That was what excited him most.

The doorbell rang, and he detoured to the front door, trying to brush himself off enough that he was looking presentable if someone was calling for Kabu.  He opened the door and prepared to give his overly polite, generic greeting when he was almost knocked over by someone rushing him at the door and wrapping him in a big bear hug.

“Oof--!  Bede?!”

He hugged back immediately, melting into Bede’s hug.

“I missed you little brother...”  He squeezed tight.  “How have you gotten even shorter than the last time I saw you?”

Basil giggled.  “I didn’t get shorter you got taller you big jerk!  What are you doing here?”

“Bede has decided to come stay with us for a few days, until the exhibition is over.”  Kabu explained over his shoulder.  “Won’t you help him up to the spare room with his bags, Basil?” 

Basil already had an armload of stuff, hurrying  down the hall.  “Come on Bede!  I’ll show you where your room is!”  He limped, leaving his cane at the door.

“Hey!  You know you’re not supposed to be walking without your cane!”  Kabu called.

“It doesn’t hurt!  It’s okay!”

Kabu sighed.  “Basil, you know what the doctor said, I’m not going to tell you again.”

“I don’t need it!”

Bede grabbed the cane from the floor and followed Basil with his other bag.

“This is great!  I was worried I wasn’t gonna see you at all!”  Basil bounced all over happily, and Bede grabbed his shoulders and sat him down on the edge of the bed.  “I know.  That’s why I’m staying.  Also... Opal thought it would be good for me to spend a little time here with you and Kabu.  She thinks I’ve been spending too much time alone.”  He smirked, and there was a twinkle in his eye.  Basil couldn’t remember the last time he had seen Bede look this happy.

“So what’s she like?  What’s it like being a gym leader?  Tell me all about it!”

Bede flopped down beside him and told him all about life in Ballonlea, and about Opal, and all the hell she’d been putting him through.

Basil listened intently with wide eyes.  “She sounds awful!”

He giggled at that and nodded.  “Oh, she’s the absolute worst.”  Bede agreed.  “But... I have to admit.  It’s done me so much good.  And... sometimes I think she really does care about me.  And she wants me to be better.”

Basil hugged him again.  “I’m so happy for you Bede... I’ve been so worried about you... I’ve missed you so much...”

“Enough about me, tell me about you!”  Bede hugged back.  “I want to know everything!”

Basil gave him a tour, running around with excitement while pulling Bede along, telling him about all of the interesting new people he had met, and his new pokemon, and how nice Kabu had been to him.  Bede laughed at his stories and tried to keep up with him, and pretty soon he, Basil, and Kabu were in the living room having tea and snacks.  Bede and Kabu were talking cordially to each other, albeit a little coldly, Bede still hadn’t forgotten about the humiliation he had suffered at Kabu’s hands, and though Kabu knew the boy couldn’t have known, he hadn’t forgotten the humiliation that Rose had put him through later in payment.

Neither one of them noticed when Basil snuck out of the room and back upstairs.

“We normally don’t eat fast food, but I think tonight is a good night to order some delivery.  What do you think, Basil?”  Kabu glanced over finally and noticed he was gone.  “Basil?  Where’d he go?”

Bede frowned and shrugged.  “Maybe he went to take a nap.  He did just burn off a lot of energy...”

Kabu nodded.  Of course.  That made sense.

“Why don’t you go get settled, Bede?  I’ll order some food, and come get you when it gets here.”

He nodded in agreement, keeping his eyes narrowed and his shoulders tense as he stood, trying to look as mature and menacing as possible.

Kabu only smiled, sheepishly, wishing he could go back and fix things.  “Uh.  Sorry.”  He muttered.  “I know I... I mean.  You know.  I’m sorry.”

“Don’t mention it.”  There was a bite to Bede’s tone.  “Ever.”  He turned on his heel and marched to his room then, and once he was out of sight Kabu exhaled.  That was awkward.

Kabu set the table, humming to himself, before stepping out into the hallway.  “Boys, food is here!  Dinner is ready!”

He washed his hands and sat down at the table, waiting patiently.

Bede looked as if he had just woken up from a nap, hair sticking up in more odd places than usual and clothes wrinkled on one side.  “Where’s Basil?”

“He should be down soon.  Basil!  Dinner!”

They sat in silence a few beats, before Kabu frowned and stood.  “Don’t wait on us, go ahead.  Eat up.  I’m sure you’re hungry.”  He gave him a friendly but forced smile before excusing himself to Basil’s room.

The door was closed, and Kabu made sure to knock this time.  “Basil?  Is everything alright in there?  Dinner’s ready...”

“I’m not hungry.”

“Bede is waiting for you.”

“I don’t care.”

“Can I come in?”

Silence.  Kabu opened the door to find Basil curled up on his bed, holding his leg.  His face was red from crying, and one look told him he was fighting not to start again.

“You hurt your leg, didn’t you?”

Basil’s shoulders jumped with stiffled sobs and he nodded.

“Let me see.”  Kabu helped sit him up and straighten his leg, being gentle, careful not to do anything that might hurt him or make it worse.  “Tell me if this hurts...”  He started pressing around with his fingers, looking for out of place bones or other alarming issues.  Basil winced when Kabu’s fingers dug into the muscle, but that was all.

“I warned you, Basil.  You’re lucky, you’ve just knotted up some muscles, but if you aren’t careful your leg might not heal.  The doctor said as long as you give it time, you can make a full recovery.  But you have to be careful.  And use your cane.”

“I hate it!”  He cried.  “I hate it it isn’t fair!”

Kabu sat down beside him then and rubbed his back.  “I know it isn’t fair.  But it isn’t a punishment.  You want to get better, right?  It’s no different than using a cast for a broken bone, or medicine for a fever.  It’s to help you heal.”

Basil hiccuped.

“You understand don’t you?”

“I don’t want Bede to see.  He’s doing so much better now, I want to be better too.”

“You are!  Are you kidding?  You’re doing great!  You caught your own Pokemon!  And you learned how to fold laundry really fast!  You’ve made new friends, and you don’t have to use crutches anymore!”

Basil looked up at him then.  He hadn’t really thought of it that way.

“Where’s your cane?”

“I don’t know.”

“We’ll find it later.”  He put his arm around Basil and lifted him up a bit.  “Hold on to me, let’s go get some food.  Food fixes everything.”  He smiled.

Basil wrapped an arm around him to keep himself upright and limped along beside him, trying to keep his weight off of it with Kabu’s support.

“I think Bede’s still mad at you.”  He whispered once they got out into the hallway.

“That’s alright.”  Kabu soothed.  “He’s allowed to be mad.”

Bede was sitting at the table when they got back, and though he hid it well enough from Basil, Kabu could tell that his eyes looked red, like he had been crying.  He didn’t bring attention to it.  Bede would let them know if something was wrong, pressing would only upset someone.

Their meal was peaceful, and delicious.  Bede held Basil’s hand under the table when he wasn’t using it, and Basil didn’t fight it.  He squeezed tight, thankful for the comfort.

Kabu tucked Basil into bed, giving him some medicine to help soothe the pain in his leg and making sure he was set up for the night.  “You need anything else?”

“Another blanket?”  He asked shyly.  “It’s kind of cold tonight.”  

“Of course.  The warmest blanket I can find.”  He smiled and left the door open a crack as he left.  Basil relaxed and closed his eyes, not opening them when he heard the door open again. 

“Thanks, Kabu.” 

He didnt’ hear a response, which was weird, so he opened his eyes and turned to look at what he was doing.  The door was open, but no one was there. 

“Kabu?”

“BOO!”  Bede pounced on him, startling him with a cry.

“BEDE?!  Don’t do that!”  He shoved his brother hard, trying to avoid his hug.  “Youre a jerk!”

“Oh come on it was funny!  Don’t be such a stick in the mud!”  He moved around his arms and hugged him.

“What do you want!”

Bede’s smile fell a bit.  “I dunno.  Couldn’t sleep.”

Basil scooted over then, giving him room to crawl up further and sit.

Kabu returned with blankets, and two mugs of warm milk and honey.  “Hm.  I had a hunch you were gonna need these.”  He handed each of them a mug and distributed blankets to them.  “I’m going to bed, if you need me, wake me up.”  He ruffled Basil’s hair and kissed his forehead gently.  “You too, kiddo.”  He looked over at Bede, who looked only slightly jealous of the attention.

“I’m not a kid.”  Was all he could think to respond.

“Goodnight.”  He smiled and closed the door then, leaving the two alone, sipping their warm drinks and talking about the past.

“Remember the last time we had a sleepover like this?”  Basil yawned.  “You were afraid Oleana was gonna punish you for interrupting a meeting, and I told you that I was gonna protect you and I stayed awake all night waiting for her.”

Bede laughed.  “No you didn’t!  You fell asleep before I did!”

“Well i tried to stay awake all night!”

They both laughed then, lapsing into comfortable silence.

“Do you... ever miss Rose?”  Bede asked after he had sat his mug aside and curled up under the blankets.

“No.  I hate him.”  Basil said seriously.  “I never want to see him again.”

Bede nodded.  “Yeah.”  He thought about the letter in his pocket again.  

“Do you?”  Basil asked cautiously.

“I... Don’t know.”  Bede admit.  “I’m still so angry... but part of me wants an answer for what happened.  But I know that no answer could ever be good enough for me.”

“He used us.  That’s your answer.”

Bede sighed and closed his eyes.  “Yeah.  I know.”

“We don’t need him.”

Kabu cleared the last dish at the table, still rubbing the beginnings of sleep from his eyes.  It had been a long day, it was past his bed time, and all he wanted to do was crawl under the covers and sleep.  Something about this state he was in had him feeling venerable, so when there was a loud knock at the door, he practically jumped out of his skin.  

“Heavens!  At this hour?  I swear..!”

He stormed to the door and threw it open dramatically, putting on his fiercest scowl he could muster in his state.

There was no one there, he scanned the horizon looking for tricksters, but if they were out there, they were hidden well.  He glanced down before shutting the door, almost missing the bouquet of flowers on the doorstep.  He grabbed it, scanned the horizon one last time, and closed the door.

The flowers were beautiful, orange and red and yellow like a raging fire, with a note attached.

I’m sorry.  I was wrong.  Give me one more chance to make things right.  I won’t let you down.

Kabu rolled his eyes and chucked the note into the trash.  Until he could talk to him face to face like an adult without getting defensive, he could stay sorry.

The flowers were beautiful, though.

It’s a brave or foolish mortal who willingly wanders into the fairy realm. Opal looks upon most of them with indulgent grace, plays with them a bit, and usually lets them go. This mortal, however -- this one, she invited.

Kabu arrives at the gym fifteen minutes early. He’s wise, like that; he knows that one has to be polite in dealing with fair folk.

Opal doesn’t come out to meet him. She waits in the shadows and watches Bede take the man’s coat.

“I remember you,” Kabu says. “Bede, yes? You did well at my gym.”

And that makes Bede smile. It’s amazing, really, how much goodwill can be shown by simply remembering a name. (Opal is sure Kabu would have remembered it anyway, but she put a note in the invitation, just to be certain.)

“Thank you, sir.”

That had been the battle that put Bede on Opal’s radar, so to speak. The leaders had talked about the boy with the psychic types going up against Kabu’s fire-bug ace, and they’d laughed a little about it, but in the end, they were all impressed by how he managed to pull through. To stick with the Pokemon one liked, even when one might be encouraged to change to seize victory -- it was so deliciously dramatic.

Bede looks around the room. He’s looking for her; they all know it, but he’s still trying to seem as though his glances are mere idle motions. “I shall… show you inside, if you wish to follow me.”

It’s at this point that Opal makes her appearance. She steps into the light, her shawl fluttering behind her, and takes Bede by the shoulder. “Hello, Kabu. Welcome!”

“Good day to you, Opal.”

Good old Kabu. He hasn’t changed much; only a couple new wrinkles around his eyes, a touch of grey at his temples. Compared to the form Opal is using now, he seems to have aged so gracefully.

She leads her boys into a back room of the gym. It’s the room she uses for visitors, a cozy sitting room with a tea table in the center. Kabu has been here many times over the years, but this is the first league visit here with Bede as the gym leader.

“I’ll make the tea,” she says. It’s a duty usually left to the gym trainers, but, well, isn’t Opal herself technically a gym trainer now?

In any case, it allows her to leave the room, out of sight but within earshot.

At first, there is silence from the visiting room.

Opal hopes it doesn’t last. The whole reason why she invited Kabu instead of Milo or Nessa was because she was sure Bede would feel comfortable talking to him.

There’s a story, from a faraway region, of a girl ordered by her stepmother to gain fire from a witch’s house. The witch gives her tasks impossible for a mortal, but the girl is aided by a doll containing her dead mother’s spirit.

Rule six: if you are offered help by the fair folk, accept it gratefully.

Opal sends her Alcremie to assist her boy.

She can hear Bede squeak -- presumably, Alcremie has hopped in his lap.

Kabu laughs. “It seems Opal’s Pokemon have taken a liking to you.”

“Her Pokemon have good hearts,” Bede says. He clears his throat and brings up the supposed reason for the visit in the first place: “So, about the next gym challenge season.”

“Yes. You’ve experienced this from the challengers’ side, but let me explain what we do as leaders...”

From there, the conversation seems to go smoothly. Opal enters stage left, bearing a tray of tea and a box of the honey cookies Bede likes so much.

The three of them talk.

It reminds Opal of her early days as a gym leader, when she was still in the spotlight as a theatre actress. In those days, Kabu’s name was often across hers in the papers; those gossip journalists did love their rivalries, after all.

Casting a glamour takes a little magic. Not too much. Just a shake of her fingers, and —

— and in the blink of an eye, Kabu appears twenty years younger. His hair is black, his face smooth. He still holds himself like an old man, back slightly hunched and fingers curled in, but that doesn’t matter. He knows the part he’s here to play.

Opal herself has put on the face she used to wear in her early years: hair jet-black, eyes dark and alluring, a button nose and cute lips.

All the world’s a stage, and Ballonea especially.

Bede stares at them both in turn, obviously caught off guard. He touches his own face, like he expects to have been transformed.

Kabu laughs. “It’s just play, boy. Let us old folk have some fun.”

In the story, when the girl meets the witch, she is intimidated by the witch’s otherworldliness and power. If it were not a fairytale, the witch could have simply killed her and be done with it.

But since it was only a story, the witch took her in and gave her a chance to earn the fire.

Bede’s stated tasks are these: to act as a proper host, to discuss the next year’s opening ceremony, and to make an overall good impression on their visitor. His unspoken task, the one Opal is springing on him with no warning, is to see an illusion, realize that it is not necessarily harmful, and continue as though it were real.

He’s getting there.

“I should admit I haven’t been able to watch too many of your matches,” Kabu says, warming his hands on his teacup. “Can you tell me a bit about your background? Where are you from?”

“I…” Bede sighs, a little helplessly. “I’m not… ‘from’ anywhere. I lived in Rose Tower in Wyndon, for a while, back when Chairman Rose… when he...”

“When Chairman Rose did what?” Kabu prompts.

“When I thought he wanted me, I suppose.”

Opal sets down her cup more harshly than necessary.

In the story, when the witch gives her fire in the form of a skull with burning eyes, she asks by whose sponsorship the girl dared approach at all.

‘By my mother’s blessing,’ the girl said.

Rule seven: the fair ones don’t like to hear if you belong to someone else.

Kabu, that amazing man and her best rival, picks up on the problem immediately.

“You know,” he says, “I was born in the Hoenn region, in a place called Lavaridge Town. I had to move to Motostoke when I was young.”

Bede raises an eyebrow. “Alright?”

“Let me finish.” Kabu passes him a honey cookie, which Bede takes and nibbles on. “For the longest time, I was announced as ‘Kabu of Lavaridge City.’ But it never felt quite right. Just because I was born in a place, that didn’t mean it was my home.”

“You were sponsored by the Hammerlocke Gym Leader,” Opal recalls. “That didn’t mean that you belonged to Hammerlocke, either.”

They both look at Bede meaningfully.

“Alright. I get what you two are saying,” Bede says with his mouth full. Opal frowns, and he clears his throat. “Oleana and Macro Cosmos don’t own me. I decide my path. I decide where my home is. And if you, sir, became Kabu of Motostoke, then I suppose… I am Bede of Ballonea.”

Opal’s heart swells with pride.

Too soon, the clock strikes. It’s time for the visit to end. Opal and Bede walk with Kabu outside, then say their goodbyes.

“I’ll see you two at the opening ceremony. Thank you for your hospitality.”

“Wait,” Bede calls out. “One more thing, sir.”

“Yes, young man?”

The boy smiles, the fairy lights shining in his eyes. “May I please have your name?”

Kabu smiles, then laughs, then turns to walk out of the city.

despite not having much story and the booring-est gym challenge, i really liked kabu! he had a lot of character, with his pokemon team and the lil cutsceen you get with him, like when you bump into him in the coal mine and the send off and the really surprising to me battle animation after he was like extra upright serious? loved all that! i want to play off more on it, so in this nuzlocke 

hes an heir to the coal mines, like his family long time before he was born bought up them all , he like stupid wealthy but had no interest in doing anything business and coal related, but out of a mixture of both fear and respect for his family, he essentially waited for them to knock off to pursuit a career in professional pkmn battling so he started along in his 30s rather than 18 like most trainers in galar do (the trainers are all going to be at least 18 in this thing its so silly you spend a literal hour fighting preschoolers dggggf when has there Ever been that many!!) 

he sold the coal titles over to the government’s transportation sector (so like the trains)(also there are rumours going around about how kabu’s family’s company and rose’s company are connected in some way, same goes for the transportation sector, its no secret the chairman has an energy company tho its that alternative energy), so he doesnt have to bother with it, and in return they sponsor him completely, covering any needs he has so he never has to do anything but train with his pkmn

 he enjoys traveling and studying under pkmn master in other regions, because of this he has many luxury pokemon from other parts of the world! another thing that reflect his multi-regional studies is his gym quest

( a part of me thinks a mining cart mini game would be fun and im bummed out there wasnt one in game but i think it would be more in character if there was just a no frills stair case leading further into the earth, with a trainer under kabu's tutilage standing in the way)

( like i think kabu, opal and piers are the only characters where it makes sense that they'd have like Gym Trainers under them cause the Lore is like these are sports atheletes whose lively hoods are all wrapped up in pr with challengers threatening to take that from them like,,,why would the younger ones train anyone? like thats silly)

(ninetales has some LAME ASS abilities so kabu’s extra rare ninetales has storm drain cause wouldnt that fuck you up? like oh okay sorry ma’am wont use water gun anymore have a nice night, probs like vulpixs that live in urban areas of like unova)

(each gym trainer has one pkmn, each level you go down gets hotter which boosts fire moves and reduces damage to water, ice, grass and normal, something like its warm, its hot, its very hot! with very hot having a chance to inflict burn on any pkmn not part fire type)

(after you finish up with very hot, you enter kabu's stadium, which is a platform surrounded by lava and the terrain is like steaming with coal mounds, theres a safe place for you to stand but not much protection else wise, also ive been imaging like a protective thin see through barrier around the crowd thats like protects them from the battle, sometimes it does crack and strain but its never broken before, mr mimes probs put them up)

Imagine Chairman Rose plans this retreat thing for the leaders in the Wild Area where they are paired up with another leader and have to learn about that leader's pokemon type. They can't use their own Pokemon, only Pokemon of the type their partner specializes in. Milo is paired with Nessa, Bea with Allister, Melony with Gordie, Raihan with Kabu, and Piers with Opal. How do you think that would play out?

That sounds exactly like something Rose would plan. Of course, they’re not too thrilled. They have better things to do than go out into the Wild Area. So they pretty much swap teams. It lasts for a weekend. They go out on Saturday morning, come back Sunday afternoon. They have to hike out to a place Rose picked for them and set up their camp together.

Milo is kind of excited. He’s always had the type advantage over Nessa, so he’s eager to see how she’s such a powerful trainer to be able to beat him most of the time. They make a lot of jokes together on the hike up. They set up their respective camps and let their pokemon roam before swapping teams. Milo is the first to explain grass types to Nessa. She sits and listens attentively. Then he takes Nessa’s team, listens to her explanation, and goes off to fulfill Rose’s request of beating 10 wild pokemon with their partner’s team. It’s easy with the rock types around, until he has a run in with a wild grass type and struggles to overcome the type disadvantage. He gets it done, though. Back at the camp, Milo makes their dinner and they have a great night. In the morning, they hike back to where they report back to Rose and then go home.

Nessa is grateful she got paired with Milo. He’s pretty much her best friend. They have fun. They race each other while they’re hiking, they make jokes, it’s a good time. Nessa listens to what Milo says pretty well, but she’s worried that she’s going to struggle. Fortunately, she doesn’t. She manages to get her task from Rose done. Milo does it faster and is working on making curry by the time she gets back. She’s happy to see her team and she feels like she learned a lot about grass types. She knows she’s ready to defend against the type advantage next time they battle. The hike back is fun, but not as fun as the hike up. They’re both pretty tired, but they still find the energy to joke around and have fun. They’re happy to get home and rest, though.

Kabu has a lot of experience in the Wild Area, he wasn’t ready, though, for Raihan’s crackhead energy. He turns a corner and Raihan’s like “Kabu look at this giant rock I climbed on I don’t know how to get down.” It’s a struggle to explain fire types to Raihan while keeping his attention. He listens to Raihan, though, admiring his obvious passion about dragon types. He’s eager to see what Raihan’s pokemon can do. He’s impressed with their power, but he sees what they lack that he loves about fire types. He easily finishes Rose’s task, and heads back to the camp. He’s finished the curry by the time Raihan gets back. He gets a good night’s sleep (he knows Raihan does not) and then beats Raihan back to the area they meet Rose at.

Bea already knows about ghost types because Allister talks about them a lot. She carries Allister’s camping equipment up to their spot. They sit and hang out before swapping teams and heading out. She’s serious about finishing the task. She actually beats 15 pokemon instead of 10. Of course, Allister is back already and waiting for Bea to get back and help him cook dinner. They both go to bed early at the night and make an early hike back. Of course, they go back to the same place because they share a gym, but they’re closer for the experience.

Allister is excited. He doesn’t usually get to go to the Wild Area with Bea, so he’s thrilled to be able to. He could have carried his own stuff, but he knows that Bea respects him so he lets her carry his stuff. They swap teams and Allister struggles with coping with not being immune to normal type moves. He gets it done, though, and gets back to the camp. He’s a little hungry, but he doesn’t think about touching the cooking equipment without Bea. She gets back soon, though, so it’s fine. They go to sleep and then he enjoys the early morning mist in the hike back.

Opal is interested in Rose’s reason for pairing her with Piers. She supposes it has something to do with Rose respecting her and hoping she’ll make Piers more like him since he hates the way Piers acts. She lets Piers carry her things because he offered. She admires the way he pays attention when she gives him her speech she prepared. They’re in a more difficult area in the Wild Area than the others, but she’s not worried. She takes notes in her little notepad when Piers gives her his explanation. She’s amused watching Piers tell his pokemon to behave for her. “Ms. Opal.” That’s cute. His pokemon are well behaved and very powerful, so she’s able to finish the task quickly. She’s back before Piers. She makes curry, and it’s done by the time he gets back. It’s funny how tired he is, but he seems to stay up all night. She tries to tell him to go to sleep, but it apparently doesn’t work. Nice young gentleman still carries her stuff back for her, though. Piers is an okay kid in her book.

Gordie is not looking forward to spending the weekend with his mom that he’s fighting with. They hike up in silence. He dreads taking her team. He’s heard her talk about them a million times, so he doesn’t really listen. He does, however, have a long talk about rock types. He hopes Melony gets why he doesn’t want to be ice type by the end of this. He decides that Ice pokemon aren’t that bad, but he still prefers rock types. They end up having a very nice evening together over Melony’s home cooked curry that Gordie really missed. Their hike back was better than the one before. They’re closer than before.

Melony hopes this is a good opportunity to get her son back and to get him to convert to ice types. He doesn’t seem to care much about them, though. She listens carefully to what Gordie says to show she cares. It’s obvious he’s very passionate. She takes his team, and she has to admit, they’re powerful, and charming lil guys. She decides she understands why he likes them. Maybe she can finally bring herself to end the argument. That evening, they talk about it, and their fight gets a little less severe. Not perfect, but it’s a step. Melony sees it as an absolute win. They have a nice hike back.

Piers is worried about being paired with Opal. He doesn’t really like fairy types bc they’re pretty much the exact opposite of dark. He still respects her a lot and because she’s an old lady and they have the most difficult area. He carries her equipment for her. When they get to the campsite, he’s a bit tired, but he still has work to do. He gives Opal his run down of dark types. It’s shaky and he stumbles over words because he’s worried. He listens to Opal’s speech, and then spends a bit ordering his pokemon to behave themselves. He’s worried about them giving Opal trouble. Then he takes Opal’s team, thinking it’ll be easy. He prays to Arceus his pokemon aren’t behaving like this Alcremie. It’s being such a jerk and he takes twice as long to finish the task as it would have with his own team. He gets back and is grateful to see that Opal already cooked some curry. It gives him extra time to brush the sugary mess Alcremie left out of his hair. He’s happy to see his own team again. He stays up all night working on song lyrics, but Opal tells him to go to bed. He’s exhausted the next day, but still carries Opal’s things.

Raihan is confused why he got put with Kabu. He thought he’d be put with Piers, but he’s down anyway. He thinks their area is a little easy for him. The hike with Kabu is fun because he can see how concerned Kabu is for his wellbeing (who isn’t this dude is careless af) He’s interested in what Kabu has to say, but this will be a piece of cake anyway. Wrong. He doesn’t get far with that attitude. Kabu’s pokemon only respond to a passionate trainer who takes the challenge seriously. He gets back and Kabu’s already made curry. He stays up all night on his phone texting Piers about his “date with Opal.” Leon also makes fun of him for having to go on the trip. The hike back is a little harder because he’s tired, and he’s a bit disappointed to be beaten by Kabu. It was a pretty good trip though.

Dang, that was long. Sorry this got so long, but I had fun with this. I like the idea. Pairing Piers up with Opal was a great idea.
