“It’s getting dark. Let me walk you back to your cabin, yeah?” The dark haired boy smiled at you.

Gods how you loved that smile of his.

It’s a tradition of yours. Him walking you back to your cabin after your outings. The two of you walk hand in hand as your near the Athena cabin.

You and Luke had been acquainted for quite some time. You both first met when you arrived in camp for the first time.

You were fifteen back then. Time passed by as fast Zeus’ lightning strikes as summers blurred after summers. In a blink of an eye, you guys were both eighteen now. Adults, no longer those carefree teenagers that relied on your counselors.

During those three years of friendship, you and Luke only got closer. It was hard to admit, and after an excruciating time of denial (and constant pestering from your half siblings including Annabeth), you finally surrendered and admitted the growing feelings you harbored for your close friend.

You’re too afraid to confess your feelings as you treasured your friendship with him deeply. You would gush about how sweet he is to Annabeth, rolling yourself on your bed as blood rushed to your cheeks at the thought of him.

Little did you know he was doing the exact same thing. Confiding to Annabeth about your recent encounters, eyes lit up rivaling the shine of Apollo himself as he thinks of you.

You were not complaining, matter of fact you were quite glad. Maybe your feelings wasn’t just one sided after all.

But as time move forwards, the closer you two get, more couple-ey interaction commends. He would tuck your hand behind your ear as you both converse, intwining your hands when your in the same path, calling you nicknames.

The more your relationship with him progressed, the more it blurred the line between friends and more. At this point, you knew he had feelings for you as well, and he too was well aware of yours.

A bubble of thought soon started clouding your mind. What were you both now? Friends? Close friends? Lovers? You don’t remember Luke asking you to be his girlfriend.

What was the nature this relationship?

You feel his grip on yours loosening as you stopped near the grey building of Cabin 6. “This is it for you, princess.”

You were quick to deny him. “It’s not, Luke. I don’t even know it’s just. I don’t know, confusing? I think complicated is the right word.”

“What are we Luke? I don’t even know anymore.” You retracted your hand from his grasp, frustration getting a hold on you. “Friends don’t hold hands while they walk, friends don’t kiss each other’s foreheads, or hands, or even call each other nicknames.”

You look up to see the confusion written clearly on his face. “What are we, Luke Castellan?” You asked once more.

There was a moment of silent and you dreaded it. Each passing second you can hear the rustling wind, chirps of birds, and the sound of your heart falling into your stomach.

Before he finally broke it. A wholehearted chuckle graced his lips, creasing his eyes.

You scrunched your eyebrows at his reaction. Clearly displeased. Were you some joke to him?

“Luke, this is serious, why are you laughing right now?”

He quickly straightened his composure after hearing your tone. “Ehem, wait sorry. You’re serious? Is this what you’ve been worrying about?”

“Well yeah. What’s so funny about it? Am I just some joke to you?”

“No no! Yn, wait.” He placed both of his hand above your shoulders. Eyes peered at yours before genuinely asking. “Haven’t we been dating for like two months now?”

What? Confusion warps your face.

Then it snapped.

You unwind your laced fingers, your hands moving, circling themselves around the nape of his neck as his hands are now placed on the sides your waist, drawing you closer. “Hm will I?” You teased him lightly.

You laughed against his chest. And you can feel his ribcage expanding was he laughed along with you.

You tilt your head above, standing on the tips of your toes, as you pulled him even closer than before. Your noses touch at the proximity and you could feel his breath on yours. “Is this why you’ve never kissed me before?” you hear him whisper.

He had plenty of racing cars, and he usually wouldn't even use this one, hoping to keep it in one piece as street races didn't always end in his favor, but it was your favorite out of his selection and you were watching, so it only made sense to use it.

He hops in the car, not before raising his eyebrow at you and smirking.

Starting the car, the engine's loud. One of the perks of owning a sports car.

He drives it into position as the cars sit on display at the side of the road. Waiting, he watches you through the passenger window. Not noticing him, you get stuck in a conversation with a guy he doesn't know.

Tall, dark hair, and a dragon tattoo on the side of his neck, leaning on a 2018 Mclaren spider. It was a nice car visually, but it looked brand new, and it's uncommon to see such shiny cars in underground street races. Those who do bring new cars into street races often aren't very good at racing because they're only there to show off.

And maybe it was just jealousy talking, but Niki was ripping this poor boy to shreds in his head; you didn't even like Mclaren's or tattoos. So the dude was out of your league anyway.

"Race starts in 5 minutes!" Somebody shouted in the distance. The boy said goodbye and winked as he got in his car and drove right up next to Niki.

He's not even all that cute... Niki thought

Before he knew it, the race was starting.

As Niki blew you a kiss, the Mclaren boy started revving his engine, probably to get your attention.

Childish? Perhaps, but as he gripped his steering wheel and with a tense jaw, Niki revved his car, which not only grabbed your attention but also everyone else's considering It was twice as loud. The boy shot him a side glance, to which he responded with a smirk.

The countdown started, and when the flag went up, Niki sped past everyone quickly, taking sharp turns and drifting left and right. Naturally, he'd be competitive with everyone racing, but right now all he cared about was beating the stupid McLaren.

The boy lost sight of Niki, but he was desperate to win.

He sped up as much as he could, passing by some Mustangs and old Corvettes.

Watching the TV broadcasting it on the sidelines, you assumed Niki would have some actual competition for once. The McLaren is a famously fast car, and the boy was still losing against Niki.

At this point, the rest of the racers were lost in the background, as Niki and the boy were the only two near the end.

Niki was familiar with this track—it's a common one with tight turns and lost alleys they'd have to navigate.

McLaren, on the other hand, was not.

He finally made his way in front of Niki. Smirking he started looking at the Ferrari in his review mirror, not realizing there was a sharp turn in front of him. He continued to speed up and once he finally returned his eyes to the road, he panicked.

He was going too fast to slow down in time and he wasn't very experienced with racing so drifting was out of the question.

He turns his wheel as fast as he can, the front of the car being fine but the rear smashed into the barrier, ruining the headlights and smashing the trunk hood into itself.

He managed to not totally crash but he was devastated.

Meanwhile, that was happening Niki took his chance to drift in front of him and speed to the finish line.

Niki wins with the McLaren following suit.

You run up to his car as he steps out, throwing your arms around him in congratulations as you would after each race. Niki kisses the top of your head as McLaren boy gets out of his car looking pissed.

An older man came running to him and started shouting

"How could you do this?? Huh? Are you dumb? You were supposed to win."

"I know but I-"

"No buts. You lost to the one man you came here to beat AND you fucked my car up. Wait till your mother hears about this."

You look at Niki in shock as he's still looking at the boy, slightly smirking. "It wasn't even his car he was showing off" Niki says followed by a chuckle "I knew he gave off daddy's money vibes when we were talking" You mentioned

"Anyway, I won as per usual, time to go home" Niki says as he opens up the passenger door for you to step in. You laugh, all while McLaren boy is staring at Niki in defeat.

The second you got home, you guys changed into pj's, Niki pulled you into bed, plopped himself on top of you, asked "Did you find him cute at all", and when you answered, "No, baby. Not even a little bit" he was content, he smiled, shared an "I love you" and fell for a long-awaited sleep.

pairing bf!sunghoon x gn!reader ୨୧ genre fluff, slight angst? ୨୧ wc 1k ୨୧ req; prompt 24 (deciding on a list of Netflix shows they will only watch together); dialogue 41 (“you’re just the cutest.” “you’re the only one who is allowed to say that.”);

you settled in, making yourself cozy under the blankets, propping your head up with pillows, your phone now in your hands. the clock struck 10 pm, and you eagerly anticipated a call from sunghoon. it had been his second week on tour, and you were longing to see him again.

as you scrolled through twitter, you watched clips of your boyfriend from today's concert. after a while, you opened your clock app to check the time in sunghoon's current location. just as you were about to click on the city he was in, his name and a cute picture of him smiling popped up on your screen. you glanced at yourself in the preview and answered the call.

"hey, y/n!" he exclaimed loudly, his still-sweaty face appearing on your screen. you could hear the sounds of the rest of enhypen in the background, indicating he was still backstage.

"hi, hoonie. how was the concert?" you asked, secretly admiring his face. suddenly, his video paused, and you furrowed your eyebrows, feeling confused. it soon resumed, and you saw niki's face.

"y/n! i missed yo–" "hey, niki! give it back!"

you laughed at niki's face. "riki, give sunghoon his phone, please," you requested after a few seconds of the younger member dodging his hyung.

"oh my god, i'm so sorry about that," sunghoon said after getting his phone back. "he's hyperactive after concerts, he gets the zoomies, y'know," he explained, and you nodded.

"i've already changed, just waiting for the car," he added, moving the camera down to show himself sitting with sweatpants and an oversized hoodie.

"looking good, baby." you smiled at him.

fifteen minutes later, sunghoon arrived at the hotel and instantly flopped down on the bed. you were used to seeing him like this, not only after concerts in seoul but also during calls, that slowly became your routine. he always called you as soon as he could and stayed on the call until one of you fell asleep.

"before the concert, i saw this new movie trailer," he broke the silence, lifting his face from the pillows and now looking at you. "we should go see it."

"we also have to finish the other million movies we haven't watched," you replied. "at this point, a good list would be nice."

upon hearing your words, sunghoon gazed at something out of your view, deep in thought. "you know, that's not a bad idea? as soon as i'm back, we should have a movie marathon."

you placed your phone down, hearing sunghoon's muffled "hey!" as you grabbed a notebook. then you adjusted your phone so he could still see you and looked at him.

"give me some suggestions, and i'll note them down."

he began listing some movie titles you were familiar with and others that were new to you. when you heard one of them, you paused.

"no, absolutely not. we're not watching that," you protested, and he raised an eyebrow.

"what do you mean? it's a good movie," he argued, and you shook your head.

"hoonie, that was the most boring movie i've ever seen."

"it's just your bad taste," he teased. "okay, if you have better movie taste, enlighten us, y/n."

"okay," you began. "so, my first suggestion is 'yuri on ice.'" you looked at your phone, waiting for sunghoon's reaction.

"oh, you think you're sooo funny," he said in a monotone voice, which made you laugh.

you couldn't see it, but the corners of his lips curled up as he watched you genuinely laughing. it warmed his heart to be the one making you laugh like that.

"you're just the cutest when you're like that, you know?" you said after a minute or two of laughing.

"you're the only one allowed to say that," he replied, leaving you feeling flustered. you put your head down, hiding your face in the notebook you had been writing in.

"y/n," he whined, "let me see you."

"no, i'm a mess, and it's your fault," you said, pretending to be offended.

"i wish i was there to see you," he almost whispered, though your phone was on max volume. you lowered the notebook and looked at him.

"what did you say?" he noticed your face peeking at him, and now he was the one feeling flustered.

"i just wish i could be there with you. i miss seeing your face, feeling your body close to mine, i miss kissing you, watching those silly movies with you, holding your hand," he said after a few seconds of silence, as if he were mustering the courage to say it. "i miss you."

you couldn’t help but feel tears welling up in your eyes, you missed sunghoon as well, so much it was painful. he quickly noticed your tears.

"hey, love, please don't cry. we'll see each other soon, okay?" he reassured you.

you nodded, wiping away your tears, but it was pointless as even more escaped your eyes, slowly rolling down your cheeks.

"i miss you too, hoonie," you finally said, your voice breaking.

"my baby," he said, his voice soft, as if it was healing the fresh wounds in your heart. "you have to be strong, okay? just two more cities here in the us, and i'll be back home."

after a few minutes of sunghoon calming you down, saying sweet nothings, and repeating that he would be back soon, you finally stopped sobbing. you placed the notebook on your nightstand and lay down, your cheek pressed against the pillow.

your conversation about movies continued, but sunghoon soon noticed your responses getting shorter or you simply replying with a soft "mhm" in varying tones that matched the conversation.

"love, is your phone charging?" he asked.

"mhm."

"where's your little hoonie?" another question. you opened your eyes and searched for the penguin plushie sunghoon had given you as a gift for your first anniversary. you quickly grabbed it and held it in your arms. closing your eyes again, you heard sunghoon chuckle.

"good, good. go to sleep, okay, love? i'll be here. do you want me to keep talking?"

you answered with another hum. just hearing his voice relaxed you, and he knew that after multiple times of you falling asleep on the call as he spoke.

he continued to talk, but after a few minutes, his voice became muffled as you started falling asleep for good. when sunghoon noticed your slow and steady breathing, calm expression, and the fact that you didn't respond anymore, he sighed, a soft smile on his face. he took a screenshot of your relaxed face and settled down more comfortably.

"i can't wait to see you and fall asleep with you, baby. i love you so much. sleep well."

Maknae in love

Synopsis: just a few things I think Niki would do with his partner. Aka you. (The members tease niki a lot in this story)

(Idol Niki x non idol reader)

Niki loves when he comes back from a long day of work to you sitting on the couch in their dorm. He immediately pushes all the boys away just to give you a tight and warm hug. The rest of the group would admire their youngest member being cute with you and acting like a baby (more than usual). He loves to tease his hyungs and so he would jokingly say things like: "You won’t believe what «…» hyung said to me today!" Or "They were tired of hearing me talk about you all day."

He was so exhausted and so while all the members did their usual evening routines, you went in the kitchen with Niki to make him some food. You always bought him some of his favorite snacks when you saw him. That day you had bought him strawberries and bungeoppang and as soon as he saw those he jumped from excitement. You both sat down and your boyfriend talked about his day (including all the pranks he did on his members)

You would both then go to the bathroom to brush your teeth and wash your faces before going to bed. You helped him with his skincare and he tried helping you with yours.

You both then entered your bedroom (which was shared with a few members) sunghoon would say things like: "Carefull y/n he might crush you to death in your sleep or worse…fart in your face. I wouldn’t approach him if I was you." "Oh shut up hoon!" You responded laughing

All the members went on their phones. Sunoo was watching a series on Netflix, sunghoon was watching his personal vlog on their YouTube channel and jungwon went on weverse to chat with engenes. You and Niki decided to sleep straight away. You were the closest to the wall while he was on the edge of the bed. Niki has a habit of hugging anything while sleeping so you were like his plushy. He hugged you from behind, holding you tightly and kissing your head. You both fell asleep quickly.

The next morning, you two were still in the same position. You were the first to wake up but you didn’t want to bother your boyfriend so you grabbed your phone that was under your pillow. The other boys were starting to wake up as well and you could hear sunoo say: "Jungwon! Look how cute our baby puma is. He loves her so much it’s so beautiful." You couldn’t help but smile.

Niki woke up about 20 minutes after you did and immediately greeted you with more kisses and hugs. You cuddled all night but he still missed you. You told him about the comment sunoo said earlier and he found it funny. Saying they all secretly admired your relationship even tho they tease him all day long because of it.

You both came out of the room to all the boys together eating breakfast and watching tv. They all greeted you both kindly yet still teasing their maknae as usual. "Hey sunoo I heard you this morning saying you thought we were cute. I never knew that." You said pointing in his direction. "Well it’s true…you two are so cute together, seeing you cuddle this morning was adorable. Niki is alway so happy to be with you and I just love seeing him happy." Sunoo admitted. The rest of the members agreed and you and Niki blushed.

They all had a day off that day so you and your boyfriend spent the rest of the day watching movies, playing games together and of course pranking and teasing the members as usual (especially Jake).

Pt.2 of Fboy! Enhypen w/ Niki (2nd part)

Cw: fluff, kissing

You woke up that morning feeling a bit hungover because of the champagne you had at the spa.

You had the most wonderful dream, you were walking through Roppongi at night with an unknown boy that had a blurry face. The boy grabbed your hand and took led you to a secret pool that was closed at this time of night.

“Come on, no one will see us,” he whispered into your ear. The illuminated turquoise light radiated from the swaying but calm pool in the moonlight. The dim lights under the water were still turned on, making the water seem bio illuminated. The mysterious boy kneeled down and touched the water with his hand. “It’s not cold, c’mon,” he encouraged you. He took off his baggy t shirt to reveal a slim but toned body, firm abs just barely noticeable and biceps that were slender but lean. The boy dived into the pool, surprising you at his dauntless attitude. He whipped his head back out of the water, his hand running through his wet hair. He gave a mischievous smile before jumping up and grabbing your wrist before pulling you into the pool with him.

“Hey!!” You laughed even though you were annoyed. He put his finger up to your lips, hushing you. “Shhh, we have to be quiet, girly,” he whispered while giggling. You splashed him with water and laughed. “Oh?” He said in a cocky voice. You both swam under the warm water, being lost in the childish fun. You had your eyes closed in the water, your legs trying to keep you seated on the bottom of the pool.

You felt the water rustle around you, and hands on your cheeks as you feel a kiss being pressed into your lips. You open your eyes to see the boy giggling, letting out little bubbles of air. He grabs your wrist and pulls you to the surface. You both gasp for breaths and laugh with each other. You both eventually stop giggling and look at each other. His face softens and pulls you closer to him. The boy kisses you slow and soft, almost like he was teasing you, letting out a small chuckle when you try to kiss him faster. He smiles against your lips.

You catch yourself smiling thinking about it.

The day went as expected at the new recording studio, work was efficient and everyone contributed a great deal. The members and you all ordered dinner to eat at the studio, which was some Korean local speciality with tteokbokki and various meats and rice. The tteokbokki was surprisingly very spicy, making everyone’s lips swollen and red along with a trip to the nearby convenience store for milk drinks.

By the time you arrived to the hotel, it was around 12pm, not what you were used to but you weren’t tired to some reason, so you explored the hotel for a while. You got bored eventually and decided to go back to your room. You were tired and loopy now, wondering why you left your door to your room open. You were too tired to care so you just shut the door behind you and walked toward the bed but someone ran into you.

“What?! What are you-oh,” you stammer. Niki stood looking confused as one hand was drying his hair with a towel and the other had another towel wrapped around his waist. The realization hit you.

“I’m so sorry! I must have thought this was my room-hey why the hell would you leave your door open and unlocked if you’re showering?!” Your face turns red as you become flustered. He still looks confused, looking around the room and at you, nonchalantly.

“Heeseung stopped by to give me the room card and I guess he forgot to close the door,” he says calmly as he eyes you up and down.

“Oh that makes sense I’m really sorry, I’ll be leaving now and-“

“Wait, come back, girly,” he teases. You feel your face begin to heat. You pause. “You looked nice today y’know,” he smiles. “You looked so cute when you couldn’t handle the spicy tteokbokki, your lips were so red and puffy.” He walks closer to you, shutting the door behind you. “I wonder…” he whispers, “if they are still puffy? かわいい cute” he teases you, cornering you against the wall. His hand reaches down to a stray hair in your face and brushes it behind your ear. “So kissable,” he whispers giggling softly. You close your eyes as his brings his face closer to yours and closes the distance between you, softly planting a kiss on your lips. It was warm and slow, reminding you of the boy in your dream.

Alone at the kitchen table, you awaited Niki's return from practice. You just started dating a month ago, there was still a lot to learn about him. Lost in the demands of your college work, the day slipped away, and you realized you hadn't eaten since morning. Your stomach was growling from the lack of food , but you HAD to finish this last assignment.

After a half-hour wait, the jingling of keys signaled Niki's return. Your eyes briefly shifted from the laptop to the door as he entered. "Hi sweetheart," he greeted with a warm smile, but your focus swiftly returned to the demanding college assignments. "I’m gonna go shower. I’m really sweaty," he chuckled. Approaching you, he planted a kiss on your cheek before heading to the bathroom.

You weren’t even paying attention to him at all. It hurt his feelings how you said absolutely nothing to him, but he knew you were really busy.

Once he got out of the shower, he came back and sat at the table with you. He looked really cute with damp hair. He wore gray sweatpants with a white tank top.

Niki stared at you for a while, his brows furrowed. You noticed his expression and glanced at him. “What?” You murmured in a confused tone. “How long have you been on the laptop for?” he inquired with worry in his voice. “All day.” You sighed. “You’ve got really dark circles under your eyes. I suggest you take a break; Let’s go lay down for a while.” He suggested. “I cant, but I’m….almost done.” You rubbed your eyes as you yawned. You groaned as your looked back at your laptop. Niki looked at you with worry in his eyes. “Have you eaten?”

“No.” You said in a shy voice. You were afraid Niki was going to scold you for not eating, so you just continued your assignment, your fingers typing away. Niki kept his eyes on you. He had such a sad look on his face.

Rising from the table, Niki made his way for the pantry. Returning with two clementines in hand, he settled back at the table, placing one next to your laptop. "Eat this," he gently insisted, a warm smile on his face. “You’re not upset with me for not eating?” You asked. “Darling, I could never be upset with you.” His voice was raspy yet so soothing. The dim lighting made him look even more handsome. The way he called you darling sent butterflies to your stomach and for a moment it felt like nothing else mattered, not even the work you’ve been dying to finish.

You stared at the clementine, unsure if you should eat it or not. You honestly just didn’t feel like eating. “When I eat after not eating all day, I usually throw up. Especially at night.” You sighed. Concern creased Nikis forehead. “You need to eat. If you throw up, I’ll be here to take care of you.” His expression turned gentle. You really didn’t feel like eating. You know if you didn’t, you would worry him sick, so you made some lame excuse. “I don’t like clementines Niki. I mean I would totally eat them, but the white part is so bitter..” you breathed out in a shy tone. “Oh okay. Give me.” He extended his hand and you gave him the clementine. He began to carefully Peel the orange part. You glued your eyes back to your laptop and sighed. You honestly felt bad for rejecting the food he offered you. It wasn’t that big of a deal anyway, it was just a little clementine, right?

After five minutes of unwavering focus on your work, the sound of Niki rising from his chair reached your ears. You thought he was going to leave to y’all’s room and go to sleep. If he did, it was a consequence of your unintentional silence. You didn’t bother looking at him, you knew if you did you would’ve started tearing up because of how guilty you felt. He hadn’t seen you all day and you were practically ignoring him.

Suddenly, you felt arms wrap around your upper body. His warm embrace was all you needed. You fell into his touch and exhaled. He rested his head on your shoulder. You smelled his hair. It smelled like fresh Mint and earthy sandalwood shampoo. The lingering freshness of his shampoo comforted you. “Give me your hand.” He grinned. You slightly raised your eyebrow at him and put out your hand. He reached to the table and grabbed one of the clementines. You were so confused, it looked slightly different from some reason but you thought “I just told him I didn’t want it. Why is he giving it to me?”

“I peeled off all the white parts of this clementine. You said you liked them. It was just the white parts you didn’t like, right? Eat it please. If you throw up remember, I’ll be here to take care of you. Just please eat my love.” He gently voiced. The realization of his thoughtful act hit you, and a rush of different emotions swelled within. It wasn't just about the fruit, it was about the care and consideration he had put into making a simple moment special for you. Tears began to swell in your eyes and a lump formed in your throat. You began to slightly shake from holding back your tears. Words wouldn’t come out of your mouth. How did you get so lucky? No one had cared about you that much.

You tried your best to hold it in. The amount of love you were receiving eased everything. He unwrapped his arms from you and sat back down at the table. His eyes locking yours. He saw the tears swelling in your eyes. His expression changed to a worried one. “What’s wrong love?” He asked, genuine concern in his voice. Just hearing his voice sounding so worried for you shattered your heart. You began to cry. You sobbed, actually. HARD.

He allowed you the release of tears, recognizing the emotional weight you carried. He knew you needed it. “Take your time darling. I’m here.” Niki assured. You put the clementine down on the table and put your hand in his. “N-no one has ….ever cared for me like you have. Just you peeling the white part of the clementine .. means a lot to me.” You confessed amid sobs . Niki was so patient and caring with you, it wounded your heart. “My love, I would spend eternity peeling off the white bits of a clementine just so you can enjoy it.” He declared. That made you cry even harder. You shut your laptop and walked over to him, seeking refuge in his warm embrace. He got up from the table and hugged you tightly. Your tears stained his shirt, but he didn’t even care. “I love you, forever y/n.” He whispered. His hands gently caressed your hair as you surrendered to the cathartic release, wondering how you had become so fortunate to have someone so understanding and loving by your side.

RADIO SILENCE ,, chap 07 — do we hear a breakup song?

synopsis. hwang y/n and park sunghoon do not like each other. end of story. god knows why (well actually, niki is the only one who knows why). but when they’re put as co-hosts on a radio show, they’re bound to bond.

you were rushing to your studio, a grin plastered on your face. today will be a hard day, but a good one. it’s the day. the album is already out so you decided to go live for a moment before rushing to the studio. oh and inkigayo! you were excited, more than ever. after the hiatus you were finally able to perform again! to go on music shows! and to think you were so close to losing it because of one–

“y/n”

your eyes snapped up, meeting riki’s. he was smiling softly, snacks in his hands.

“hi” you said, trying not to let a hint of bitterness show on your face. riki looked around nervously and stepped closer.

“hi. congrats on the comeback. we listened to your album and it’s really, really good. amazing job, truly” he said. and you knew he was being genuine “and i mean it. i’ll… uh… if you want to film a challenge…”

you smiled tenderly, nodding your head

“sure, nishimura. i… thank you. and…” you gulped, not really sure how to phrase words. ‘please stay like that?’ ‘don’t ignore me anymore?’ ‘what’s up with all this?’. you sighed, hoping he’ll know “thank you, really. it means a lot”

he nodded and walked away. you watched him for a brief moment and reassumed the walk to your studio, excitement buzzing through your body. what will your fans say? did they like it? did they like the mv? which track is their fav?

you asked all those questions once starting the live, viewer count growing. it was way more than in your pre-hiatus era and it made you proud, you couldn’t lie.

“what’s your… you mean mine? favourite track?” you read one of the questions and thought of an answer.

in the meantime, riki returned to their dorms. sunghoon had his earphones plugged, watching something on his laptop. one was hanging from his ear so he could hear if someone was talking to him. which, someone was.

“yo, i ran into y/n in the hallway. are you seeing her today?” riki asked, placing the ramyeons down. sunghoon perked up, frowning.

“why would i?” he asked, stopping the video. then he grabbed his phone, realising there’s an unread notification: “y/n went live: d-day! :D”

“her comeback? you have the radio show later? just… friendly stuff? i congratulated her, she seemed so happy” riki mumbled. the boys looked at each other, the younger one biting his bottom lip “i… i feel bad about how i treated her in the past. i hope she will forgive me one day”

sunghoon closed his laptop, a sinking feeling in his stomach. it was all his fault. and if riki feels bad, then what about him? he feels… guilty.

“she will” sunghoon smiled and stood up “now i’ll go bug her a little”

riki scoffed, watching his friend leave. he hoped so. (that she will forgive him, not that sunghoon will bug her - because it was inevitable when he was around)

in no time sunghoon barged into your room, the wall cutely decorated with balloons and deco that reassembled your concept. happy comeback! was what hung above your head while on your head there was a… birthday hat? and birthday glasses–

“what the absolute f– fudge are you doing here?” you deadpanned, moving your hands away from the cake. he stepped closer, a devilish grin on his face. ha, you can’t cuss him out in camera!

“i just popped in to congratulate my co-worker on comeback!” he hummed and sat next to you, immediately leaning closer to the phone “hi everyone!”

you let out a defeated sigh and handed him the birthday themed glasses. he took them and put them on.

“just don’t disturb and i might give you a slice” you grunted and leaned closer to the screen to look for some questions.

your arms brushed slightly, sunghoon freezing flustered. he adored your focused profile when suddenly…

“"what’s ‘radio silence’ about?"” you read one of the questions. you hummed and leaned back, smiling softly “well… while the title track, ‘back in vogue’ is more on the girlboss side… ‘radio silence’ is uhm…”

you felt sunghoon’s soft gaze lingering on you. you wondered if he listened to the album. to the song.

“it’s about silence after a break off with a person whom you loved. it’s emotional and edgy” you cracked a smile and ignored his eyes on you “and… it means a lot to me. anyways– "hand in marriage?" when and where, baby?”

“ew” sunghoon scoffed and you just sent him a small smile.

“Dude, since when could you draw like that?”

The sudden question from Jake leaves Niki stunned for a second. What is he talking about? He hasn’t drawn anything serious since freshman year.

“Is it a self-portrait?” Sunoo asks, making Niki’s eyes widen. Did they find it? He spins around to see Jake and Sunoo looking intensely at an opened copy of The Promised Neverland. Niki had been rereading it recently and knew it was the perfect place to keep the drawing Y/n had given him… apparently, he was wrong.

“Stop snooping through my stuff.” Niki scowls, ripping the book from their grasp (careful not to crinkle the drawing.) “Woah, no need to get so pissy. It’s cool to see your art; you never draw anymore.” Jake says sincerely. “It’s not mine… Y/n drew it.” Niki mumbles, the mention of their name causing Jake and Sunoo to look at each other with a smirk. “Aww cute! He’s using it as a bookmark!” Sunoo gushes.

“You should invite them to come bowling with us this weekend!” Jake exclaims. “Why the hell would I do that? They’d be so uncomfortable.” Niki grumbles defensively. “No, they wouldn’t! Sunghoon’s bringing Gaeul, come on, it’ll be fun!”

“He’s bringing his dog bowling?” Niki asks, disgusted.

“Not his dog, his girlfriend.”

“I still think that’s really weird by the way.” Sunoo chimes in. “That’s like Niki dating someone named Bisco. Or like you dating someone named Layla.”

“Okay, let’s not judge Hoon for his dating preferences. He’s bringing Gaeul so you should bring Y/n. It’s a great way to integrate them into the group!” Jake attempts to convince him. The thought of Y/n getting involved with his friend group terrifies Niki. The two of them could barely keep it together during lunch - how are they supposed to keep this act up for an entire evening? And if the relationship gets exposed as fake, Niki will never live it down.

On the other hand, he doesn’t want to seem like a possessive asshole who’s gatekeeping his relationship. The guys are already on the fence about whether it’s real or not, keeping Y/n hidden away could only add fuel to the flame.

“Okay… I’ll invite them. But I can’t promise they’ll show. And if you guys pull that same crap you did at lunch we’re leaving immediately.”

“Y/N!”

The sudden sound of their name being yelled through the halls cuts off Y/n’s conversation. Y/n turns to see Niki jogging up to their group. “Oh, hi Riki.” Y/n smiles, the mention of his real name causing the girls to look at each other with wide eyes. “Are you free this Saturday?” The question was unexpected and caused Y/n’s eyebrows to furrow with confusion. Noticing this, Niki elaborates: “My friends and I are going bowling and they told me to invite you… it’s all good if you’ve got plans since it’s kind of last minute but… I don't know, it’d be fun if you could come.” He rambles, scratching the back of his neck sheepishly. Eunchae snorts slightly at the boy's out-of-character shyness, earning a glare from Y/n. “I’d love to go.” They smile, relief washing over Niki’s body as the words fall past their lips.

“You have the audacity to ask Y/n to go bowling and not invite us as well?” Eunchae asks, gesturing between herself and Danielle. “Well, did you want to come?” Niki asks. “No.” The girl shrugs simply.

“Why would you get upset about me not asking if you were just going to reject me anyway?”

“It’s your punishment for not asking in the first place!”

"Okay, I think we should go before this escalates any further." Danielle interrupts, pulling Eunchae away from Niki. "Are you coming Y/n? Or are you two eating lunch together again?" She continues, her eyes darting to Niki. Y/n looks at Niki for confirmation, causing him to shake his head with a smile. "Go ahead, I've probably been stealing you too much recently… I'll see you this weekend, anyway." He says, ruffling Y/n's hair before turning around to find his friends.

As Y/n turns back to their friends, their eyes immediately roll at the expressions on their faces. "Don't you even start." Y/n warns, their words falling on deaf ears as the two girls begin to awe at the affection they just witnessed.

"That was so cute! He definitely has a crush on you." Danielle teases. "He definitely does not. We have a deal and real feelings are not a part of this." Y/n argues, earning a scoff from Eunchae. "If either of you think that you're gonna stick to whatever rules you planned, you're both much dumber than I thought," She says. "Now come on, I want to get to the vending machine before all the good stuff is gone."

Y/n doesn't go out a lot. Not in a weird way, they just happen to spend a lot of their time at home. And in the circumstances where they do leave the house, it is usually with the comfort of Danielle and Eunchae - not their fake boyfriend and his entire friend group.

"If you start to feel uncomfortable, just tell me and we'll leave, okay?" Niki asks. He had gone through the effort of picking Y/n up from their house (something Sunghoon has insisted all good boyfriends should do) and the two had caught the bus together to the bowling place.

"You don't have to worry about me, just have fun with your friends." Y/n reassures. Their words cause Niki to look at them with a deadpan expression. "Okay fine, I promise I'll tell you if I get uncomfortable." They add, earning an assertive nod from Niki.

As soon as Niki's friends are spotted, he grabs Y/n's hand tightly, leading them towards the group.

"So the lovebirds finally showed up, huh?" Heeseung teases, immediately earning a slap on the head from Jay. "Sorry about him, we're glad you could make it, Y/n." Jay says. “It’s okay… thanks for inviting me.” Y/n smiles politely before turning to the only member of the group they don’t recognise.

"I'm Gaeul, Sunghoon's girlfriend." The girl says, waving slightly. Y/n waves back before turning to Niki, their eyebrows furrowed ever-so-slightly. "Wait, didn't you say his dog was called-"

"Anyway, should we start bowling?" Niki asks, interrupting Y/n’s question. “Come on, let’s go pick our shoes!” He continues, dragging Y/n by the hand.

Since half the group has never gone bowling before, they decide it’s best to split into teams - with Niki, Y/n, Jungwon and Sunoo on one team and Heeseung, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon and Gaeul on another team. Juniors vs Seniors.

“I feel like these teams are a little uneven…” Jungwon points out, looking at the difference in skills between each team. “It’s fine, Sunghoon will bring them down.” Niki laughs, earning an offended scoff from Sunghoon. “Yah! Have you seen me bowl? Tell him, babe.” Sunghoon points, turning to Gaeul for reassurance. “Well… you can definitely hit some of the pins.” Gaeul replies sympathetically. “I’ll show you.” Sunghoon challenges, only making his friends laugh further at his competitiveness.

Y/n quickly finds that they suck at bowling. Niki, on the other hand, is practically a prodigy. He even joked at one point about putting the gutters up and using the kiddy ramp to “give them a fair shot”. His teasing only made Y/n even more determined to get a strike but at this rate, that won’t be happening any time soon.

“Come on, try it with this one.” Niki reassures, walking towards Y/n, a cherry red bowling ball perched carefully between his palms. “Isn’t that one heavier?” Y/n questions, attempting to take the ball from Niki’s grip. As soon as they get a taste of the weight, however, they immediately give it back to the ball. “Yeah, no. I’ll break my wrists trying to use that.” They laugh, patting Niki’s arm before walking to grab their regular ball.

“You can do it, Y/n!” Sunoo cheers. “Y/n, fighting!” Jungwon adds, making Y/n laugh as they get ready to bowl. Y/n gets into position, aiming as best they can before carefully rolling the ball down the lane - mustering as much power their body can handle.

Everyone watches eagerly as the bowling ball rolls slowly down the lane, starting to lean towards the left gutter as it goes along. “Come on, come on.” Niki please quietly, praying he has somehow gained telekinesis that can lure Y/n's ball back to the centre. Although that doesn't happen, the ball does somehow manage to keep out of the gutter, knocking down the far two pins before rolling off.

“I got something!” Y/n exclaims, jumping with excitement. Their team matches their enthusiasm, jumping out of their seats to cheer for their member. Niki runs towards Y/n without thinking, picking them up in a bone-crushing hug and spinning them around as if they've just scored the winning point.

“Yah! Let them hit the rest of them, you idiot!” Jay scolds playfully, a look of fondness present in his eyes. “Okay, if you get a strike I'm gonna throw you in the air.” Sunghoon says bitterly, making Gaeul laugh. “It’s not a competition, babe.” She says, patting his chest reassuringly. “It is now. I'm not gonna let some 17-year-old out-boyfriend me.” He scowls, only making her laugh more.

“Okay, okay, you can put me down now.” Y/n laughs, patting Niki’s shoulder as he lowers them back onto the ground. “You can do this.” Niki cheers quietly, pressing a chaste kiss to the top of Y/n’s head before walking back to his seat.

Y/n can’t do this. It's as if all their luck and bowling skills left their body the second those two pins hit the polished pine floorboards. They miss. By quite a long shot, as well. “Nice try, Y/n!” Jungwon exclaims. “If it makes you feel any better, Sunoo was making you guys lose anyway.” Jake says, attempting to reassure Y/n. “Uh, rude.” Sunoo scowls. “Come on Y/n, don’t let him turn us against each other.” He continues, shielding Y/n from Jake.

Eventually, the bowling comes to an end, with the seniors absolutely thrashing the younger team. No one expected a different outcome - the other team was far more experienced. Jungwon however, claimed that their team had better chemistry and therefore, they were the real winners.

“Niki, you need a ride?” Jay asks, twirling his car keys around his fingers. Niki turns to look at Y/n, unsure of what to do. “Go ahead, my bus is almost here, anyway.” Y/n smiles. Unsure, Niki turns back to Jay. “Nah, I’ve gotta make sure Y/n gets back.” His words cause the boys to break into a chorus of oohs, causing Niki to roll his eyes. “Uh… yeah, I don’t need a ride either. Gotta make sure Gaeul gets back safe.” Sunghoon coughs, causing the group to erupt into fits of laughter.

As the group splits up, Niki and Y/n begin walking to the bus stop. “You could’ve just gotten a ride, you know? I can get myself home.” Y/n mumbles. “What kind of boyfriend would I be if I did that?” Niki scoffs, nudging his shoulder against theirs Y/n goes to remind him that he isn’t actually their boyfriend but for some reason, the words don’t come out.

The peaceful silence of the bus ride is suddenly cut short by a grumbling sound coming from Y/n’s stomach. The two pause to look at each other for a moment, both silently wondering whose stomach it was before their thinking is cut off by yet another growl.

“Sorry… I haven’t eaten much today.” Y/n mumbles, sheepishly, their words almost immediately being waved off by Niki. “It’s okay, we were a bit busy with bowling… did you want to get something to eat?” He asks. Y/n seems apprehensive at his words, looking up to check how far away their stop is. “There’s this really cool sushi place down the street from my house… my treat.” Niki adds, wiggling his eyebrows as he attempts to convince them.

Y/n would be a fool to pass up sushi. Free sushi, at that.

As soon as the sushi roll hit Y/n’s tongue, it was as if the taste had exploded in their mouth. Niki was right to recommend this place, the sushi is amazing. Y/n had largely underestimated how hungry they were.

“Slow down before you choke!” Niki laughs, reaching forward to hold Y/n’s chopsticks away from their face - waiting for them to finish their current mouthful before letting go. Y/n rolls their eyes, shoving another sushi roll between their lips.

“Did you have fun today?” Niki asks, digging into his meal. Although he had tried his best to keep his attention on Y/n throughout the day, being around the boys occasionally distracted him. Hopefully, Y/n didn’t feel ignored. Niki’s overthinking gets cut off by a wide grin from Y/n. “I did! The only people I really hang out with are Danielle and Eunchae… and I guess you, now. So it was fun to get to know new people and do something I haven’t done before… even if I ended up being really bad at bowling.” Y/n says, laughing slightly as they think back at their failed attempt at bowling. “That’s good, I was scared the guys were gonna say or do something and make things weird.” Niki sighs.

“I never really asked… why are your friends so obsessed with you being in a relationship, anyway?” Y/n asks, causing Niki’s eyebrows to furrow. “I don’t really know, I guess it’s because I’m the only one in the group who’s never been in one… unless you count the whole thing with Eunchae.” Y/n nods at Niki’s words. “Any particular reason?”

Niki doesn’t remember the last time someone asked about his love life in a way that wasn’t to tease him. “At first I just wasn’t that interested. I didn’t want to just date for the sake of dating and I was never put in the position where a relationship would naturally happen so I just… didn’t.” He shrugs, the words spilling from his lips a lot easier than he thought they would. Y/n smiles at this, almost like they completely understand what he means. “You say at first, what changed?” They ask sweetly.

The extra question causes a subtle blush to spread across Niki’s cheeks. He considers dodging the question and changing the topic but the way Y/n’s eyes sparkle with curiosity somehow tricks his brain into answering.

“Ah… it’s kinda dumb. Jake was in a relationship with a girl called Lily… you probably remember seeing them around school together.” Niki starts, earning a nod from Y/n. “Well, they were basically like… the it-couple in our friend group. Everyone else would date around, get together, break up but they were consistent. For a while, it felt like they were going to be together forever. And then one day, they were done. Nothing bad had happened, no one did or said anything, they just broke up. And that kind of freaked me out because… they were so in love, you know? And suddenly… they weren’t. I don’t want something like that happening to me.”

Y/n smiles understandingly at Niki as they take in his words. “That’s not dumb, love can be scary.” They agree. “Giving someone your heart and trusting them to not break it… I don’t know how people do it so carelessly.” Y/n admits. “Yeah… I think I’ll just be forever alone.” Niki mumbles, making Y/n snort. “We can be alone together.” They smile, causing Niki’s heart to flutter.

“How many times have I told you that you don’t have to walk me home?”

“Probably the same amount of times that I’ve told you I don’t care. You never know who or what is out here.”

“The chances of me getting attacked are very slim, Riki.”

“And with me, they’re nonexistent.”

Y/n rolls their eyes as their mini-argument subsides, letting Niki win this round. He smirks proudly, nudging Y/n’s shoulder slightly as a silent “I win” before shoving his hands in his pockets.

The pair, once again, find themselves standing outside Y/n’s house. Niki’s feet begin to drag slightly as they walk up the neatly stoned path, towards the front door. He doesn’t want them to go inside; doesn’t want the day to end just yet.

Y/n pauses, almost as if they can read his mind, and turns around to face Niki. “Today was really fun.” They smile. “You already told me that.” Niki teases, earning an eye roll in response. “Just telling you again… thanks for inviting me.”

Smiling, Niki ruffles Y/n’s hair. “You’re welcome. It was way more fun with you there.” Such a simple complement and yet Y/n still feels their face heat up at the words. “I should probably head inside…” Y/n mumbles, turning their head to look towards the door.

With Y/n turned away, Niki leans down to press a kiss against Y/n’s cheek. He’s always been pretty good at timing things but he can’t tell if this is impeccable timing or the worst case of bad luck. Y/n’s face turns just as his lips go to make contact, the feeling of their lips and not their cheek causing Niki’s eyes to widen in shock.

They just kissed…

Niki had his first kiss…

And it was with Y/n.

“Oh my god, I’m so sorry!” Y/n gasps, pulling away completely from Niki. They stare at each other for a moment, eyes wide as saucepans, before Niki coughs awkwardly. He turns away to look down the street as Y/n stares down at their feet.

“Oh, would you look at that, my bus is coming.” Niki lies. “Gotta run so I don’t miss it, I’ll see you at school.” He blurts out, turning and practically running back towards the street. Y/n moves just as quickly, rushing inside their house and slamming the door shut behind them.
