Tumblr media
Pairing: Dick Grayson as Robin x Reader
Warnings: Mentions of murder, mental health issues and episodes.
Word Count: 3.1K
Summary: As the daughter of Wonder Woman, you always knew you were destined for something more than the life of a mortal. It seemed like your wish for a life of adventure came true but whether in the form of a blessing or curse, you didn’t know. All you know is that you were the sole witness for a chain of murders that would begin. It’s up to you to find out who was the murderer before it’s too late……
A/N: Oof it has been a while since the last update

“I told you specifically that you were not to get involved! And you deliberately disobeyed me!” Your mother scolded but her voice was getting a decibel louder each time. You looked unfazed and unbothered, not even trying to maintain eye-contact while receiving your mother’s disappointment and instead staring out the window.
It was not what you had wanted to hear at the moment if you were being honest. The past few days had been hard and you even missed training since Valerie’s death. Robin had been by your room multiple times trying to get you out of bed but you just remained there. Not living, not dying, just existing.
Your mother’s comfort might have done nothing to change the way you downward spiraled after the events and while your mother yelled at you, the same images kept replaying in your head as they did for the past few days; Robin ripping you away from her body as the police and press showed up, Valerie’s parents finding out what happened and then watching her mother break down in front of her daughter, Valerie’s little sister wailing during the funeral.
You didn’t leave the bed after that, still dressed in the black blazer and trousers you had worn that day. It had been a couple days. You had managed to swallow down Robin’s green smoothies and even a couple slices of fruit but you didn’t quite remember what it was. They all tasted bland and disgusting.
Your mother had found out about your identity through the multiple press reports and articles and while you were sorry that she had to find out that way, you didn’t have the capacity to show it. The last thing you had was the energy to fight with her, or even resist her.
So instead, you just listened to whatever she had to say, hoping that she’d leave sooner or later but the more you felt your head throb, the more frustrated you got. This was just so typical of her, of course the unstoppable, fearless, undefeatable Wonder Woman would have no idea what you were going through. And instead of asking you for your two cents, instead of comforting you, she had been trying to imprint her anxieties onto you.
Had she even thought how hard this must have been for you? For even a second? You couldn’t imagine it because if she had thought about you for even a moment, she would’ve realized that you literally saw your best friend murdered before your eyes. She would’ve realized that you were feeling like you didn’t deserve to live on the face of the earth. And she would’ve tried to comfort you.
Instead, she stormed into your room, tossing her phone with the news article on the bed before beginning her lecture and now fifteen minutes later she had yet to ask you if you were okay.
Her argument was stupid as well. You didn’t ask for any of this to happen to you; you were hardly responsible and yet no matter how hard you tried to avoid the matter, it kept pulling you back in. You couldn’t deal with this like a human, no matter how much your mother wanted you to, because you knew that you were more than that and you could have done something. It left you feeling guilty.
But at the same time, you couldn’t handle this as a god because you weren’t. You kept thinking about how you ended up coming short in each fight; had you been blessed with just a little more, had you not been part human then you wouldn’t have gotten injured the night Mary-Anne got captured and you would’ve saved her. If you weren’t limited, you would’ve been faster the day Valerie was killed, you would’ve reached her before it happened, you would’ve stopped it.
You were truly useless, but you didn’t have the excuse to be.
That made you feel absolutely worthless. Even after being blessed with so much, you still came up short. You still failed.
And who was to blame for that? The cruel fate that had you in the position you were today.
“If you weren’t my daughter—” Your mother muttered to herself in her anger, realizing that you weren’t reacting to anything she said but you caught the start of her sentence, cutting her off with a humorless and tired laugh.
“If I wasn’t your daughter,” You finally looked at her and you saw her features morph into one of worry when she finally noticed all the tears that were skating down your cheeks, “I wouldn’t be here.”
“Three people are dead, mom.” You cried, voice cracking but she stood there as if she was nailed to her place, “And I only have myself to blame. If I had been faster, stronger, if I didn’t have these human side to me, they wouldn’t be.”
“I can’t live like a god because I’m not competent enough, not gifted enough.” You sobbed, wiping away your tears and holding a hand up when she tried to approach you. You were too overwhelmed at the moment, too much input was there and it was overloading all your senses, “And I can’t live like a human because if I was this wouldn’t be happening to me.”
“If I wasn’t your daughter,” You spoke and it scared her with just how much malice you put into it, like you were disgusted with yourself for being her child and in a way, you were, how could you be Wonder Woman’s daughter and still be so weak?
“Those people wouldn’t have died when I was there to do something about it. Mary-Anne would have been gone without me knowing, my principal wouldn’t have been a casualty and I would’ve gotten Achilles’ tarot.” It was like you had given up. So many emotions were rushing through you that you couldn’t understand what was pushing you anymore, if there was anything there.
You weren’t ready just yet to give up on being a hero, not after another death. You wanted to help, you couldn’t continue to be useless and yet it felt like you were burning the candle at both ends.
“Please just go. I don’t expect Wonder Woman to understand what it’s like to be caught between paradise and hell.” You said, laying down once again and pulling the covers over your head, “Just go.”
You heard the door open and click shut before you were bathed in silence and darkness once again. For a minute it felt peaceful and you let the minutes bleed into hours without realizing just how much time passed as you were curled up in the hollow of your blankets.
You heard the door click open but didn’t bother to rear your head from your shelter until you felt someone poke you in the back. When you turned, Robin was standing with a tray in his hands and a reassuring smile on his face, “I got you something to drink.”
He didn’t ruin the silence that you had been yearning for, in fact the sound of his voice was sweet to the ears. This was what you needed.
Shifting slightly, you patted the empty spot next to you and when he settled comfortably beside you, it wasn’t suffocating or difficult like how you felt with your mother. Robin handed you the glass of fruit cocktail smoothie and you accepted, sipping the drink quietly and enjoying the chill slipping down your throat.
This wasn’t uncommon. Ever since you both started training together, you often found yourself searching for him when you needed comfort, since Robin was the one you had gotten closest to during your stay here. Now, with just an inch of distance between you, you were feeding off his energy and it was putting you at ease.
You leaned your head against his shoulder and he didn’t flinch, having been used to it by now but the first time you had even held his hand, the poor boy had jumped out his skin. You just needed the physical touch to put you in balance for a while and recharge, he realized that a while ago. Robin even felt better himself whenever you played with his fingers, specifically taking off his gloves to feel his skin or leaned against his back after a long day of training.
It felt so intimate but not romantic. He just felt needed and supportive whenever you relied on him this way, delicately threading your fingers together and sitting in the silence of your room. He didn’t even have to look at you, just feeling his presence beside you was okay.
The sound of you finished the drink through the straw filled his ears before he realized he should speak up.
“(Y/N).” He said gently and you didn’t lift your head, just humming to show that you had heard him, “They’re interrogating her murderer today.”
He would’ve thought that you were unshaken by the news had he not felt your hands tighten its grip on his. You just nodded, burying your head closer to his neck, wishing the ground would just suck you in. He didn’t say anything else, gently drumming the fingers that were set on his thigh.
***
Your hands clenched into fists as you gazed at the figure behind the one-way window. She looked too simple, too mundane to be a murderer but you knew she was the one responsible for Valerie’s death. Afterall, you had been the one to catch her red-handed.
Messy red hair was thrown into a bun, her unkempt strands and frizz making her look like she hadn’t slept in days and you were part to blame for that. Her lip was still split from where you punched her, your knuckles pricked at the sight, eager for more.
Looking at her, you couldn’t imagine how she was responsible for this, a frail looking woman who looked like she couldn’t even hurt a fly. Her name was Thelma, at least that’s what it says on her identity card. Thelma had been denying that as her name since the interrogation had begun.
Going through her file, she looked just as you had assumed; ordinary.
Batman hadn’t gotten a word out of her, she had refused to co-operate with the interrogation at all, pretending not to hear his questions, going as far as to even deny committing the crime at all. That part made you clench your jaw so tight you could’ve sworn your teeth could crack. She knew she had the advantage here.
As per the rules from the UN, you weren’t allowed to use the lasso of Hestia without her consent to assist the interrogation as it violates their right to remain silent. Watching her blatantly deny the crime that you knew she had committed had your blood boiling in your veins. If only you could wrap Hestia’s rope around her throat.
You growled as Batman tried to intimidate her but it was in vain before grabbing the lasso from your mother’s waist and stomping to the door.
“(Y/N)!” She warned, as if daring you to defy her again.
You didn’t even spare her a glance before throwing the door open and stepping inside. Batman stalked up to you quickly, leaning in with a cold fury but you didn’t back down, holding his stare. You couldn’t just stand back anymore, the feeling of knowing that you could have done something but didn’t was too much for you to take anymore.
“Give me a chance.” You murmured, “I won’t go against protocol. You have my word.”
His gaze hardened for a second before giving you a curt nod and moving to the corner of the room. He didn’t trust you not to lose your temper, not just yet and you were more than determined to prove one of the big three that you could handle yourself. Although the urge to slap the condescending look off her face was getting more tempting.
You fastened the rope to your belt before stepping in front of the table, resting your hands against it in a self-satisfying way that you saw in movie before finally looking Valerie’s murderer in the eye. Haggard green eyes behind thick lenses and wrinkles running deep into her pale skin. She looked pathetic. That made you feel both frustrated and proud.
“Your name is Paris,” You bit out with such venom, making sure to keep your voice loud enough for the members behind the glass to hear you clearly, “Isn’t it?”
She smirked and her eyes flashed with some pride that had you resisting the urge to throw her across the room. It would be so easy to snap her neck right then and there, to make her pay for what she did to your dear friend but you controlled yourself.
“Finally, someone with a brain.”
You mirrored her smirk, feeling your spine straightened with a little confidence, your hunch had been right, “How couldn’t I have known The Great Paris? The brave soldier who slayed Mighty Achilles.” You purred, taking your eyes off her and glancing at the glass. You were keeping your tone even, your gaze steady to show your mother but you were comforted knowing that Robin was behind it.
“The brave, skilled, mighty Trojan Prince Paris. Made a name for himself by being the best of his kind. Only a mortal but still managed to take down a divine god.” You droned, noticing how she began beaming at your words. You turned back to her and even though it was just a moment, they had seen something change in your eye. Your glare turned dark and you smirked.
“Only we both know one thing; your name isn’t Paris.” Her smile vanished and you took a step closer, sitting right across her to look her in the eye. “Tell me if this sounds familiar, hmm? A lonely, old woman living all alone. She’s at a dead-end job. She has no family, no friends, no light in her life.”
The way you spoke had your mother on edge. Every single word that came out of your mouth was like hitting a nail on the head. It was unlike anyone had ever seen before.
Robin clutched his cape nervously in his hands as he watched you interrogate Thelma with something settling in the pit of his stomach. He had seen that look before, the very same dark glare on his father and now it scared him that it was almost identical on you. He couldn’t let you turn out as his dad, he just couldn’t. He wouldn’t.
And then finally she gets something in her life. A chance at hope. A chance at purpose. Something to finally make her believe that her life is worth living. Sound familiar? I bet it does, Thelma.” You hissed, “Because that pathetic woman was you, wasn’t it? You thought that if you killed Achilles you’d be rewarded, worshipped even. And finally, your miserable little life would have some meaning. Didn’t you?”
The look of fear in her eyes fed your hunger for a while. She was shaking her head feebly, looking at the ground since she couldn’t hold your gaze and you could only get angrier. Where was the pride and arrogance that she was showing earlier? Where was the crazed look in her eye as she murdered your best friend in cold blood?
“Only you were stupid,” You spat, “You were careless and you got caught. And suddenly, you weren’t the Mighty Paris that defeated Achilles. No, you were pathetic, irrelevant little Thelma who killed an underaged, unprotected girl in the locker room of her high school. I saw it all. You’re despicable.”
Robin watched your eyes swirl with a darkness he had never seen before. You were always trying to fight against your demons that were pulling you into the deepest recesses of your mind but now it was like you had finally surrendered to it. It was scary to watch such a pure person slowly get corrupted and Robin felt his resolve harden a little. He wouldn’t let you end up like the Dark Knight.
He had known Wonder Woman for most of his life and it was always your mother’s unconditional love and hope for the human race that made her what she stood as today. You always wanted to be like your mother, in body and mind. Now it felt like you were throwing away all those principles. Now it was to protect your own, and no one else.
If there was anything he could do to prevent you from going down that path he would, he realized when he saw the manic look in your eye. You were so close to being lost. Robin spared a glance at your mother, seeing her stand steady and tall. You were teetering over the edge at the moment and if your mother pushed just a little in the wrong way, you could possibly be lost to the rest of them. He wouldn’t let it come to that.
The darkness storming in your eyes suddenly ceased. Your features went slack in a terrifying way as you leaned towards the shivering woman in front of you as your fingers went white around the edges of the table.
“You took something very precious from me,” It was like poison was dripping from your tongue and you kept your voice low enough so only the both of you would know what you were saying, “Watch how easily I can do the same to you.”
Suddenly you pulled back and turned towards Batman with a small, disarming smile, “She’s free to go, Batman. She isn’t the one who killed Valerie. She’s just an ordinary, insignificant civilian.”
It was like a thread snapped.
“I DID IT! I KILLED HER! IT WAS ME!” Thelma shrieked lunatically, kicking the table and banging her hand-cuffed hands against the tabletop. She began sobbing loudly, screaming about how she was the one who killed Valerie and your heart lightened with satisfaction just a little. Just what you wanted.
“It’s my word against yours, Thelma. I witnessed the murder. I just think you’re just confused.” You replied, seemingly unfazed by her episode. The way she was crying in poor agony would usually have you off-put, concerned even. But right now, all you felt was your eardrums sting. She deserved none of your remorse.
“NO! NO, I DID IT! I DID IT!”
The smirk on your face was unmistakable, “Oh really? Will your confession hold up against the Lasso of Truth? Do you think it can?”
Her crying died down until she was softly sobbing into her hands, knowing that she had no other way out. She had lost, “Yes. I did it.”
You loosened the lasso around your waist, letting one end fall to the ground before wrapping it once around your wrist for better leverage, “Then let the interrogation begin.”

octopus hearts || tom holland x reader
a/n: how do my intended blurbs turn out so long! god dammit. this idea popped into my head, so I hope you all like it. as always thank you so much for supporting; liking, reblogging, commenting or messaging me about any of my work. I love interacting with you guys and I plan to try and be more of a presence in general, not just with writing. come chat! hope you’re all well x word count: 1638 warning: none...I think everything I write is pretty tame summary: it’s about time you and tom extended your little family
“You do know she’s only young...” “And? What’s your point?” “The point is, you’ve managed to find the biggest toy in this whole place!” Tom turns to you, cradling two sacks of dry food to his chest, muscles straining slightly against his t-shirt. In his free hand was a large fluffy purple octopus - all 8 legs dangling centimetres off the ground. You’re both stood in front of the full aisle of toys, picking out your favourites for your new arrival. “She’ll grow! Plus look at it...she’ll love it.” He holds up the toy until it’s eye level with you, its stitched mouth looking at you almost mockingly. You roll your eyes, smiling at Tom’s pleading face, his bottom lip curling upwards into a pout. “Okay, it is cute. But that’s the last one Tom, we don’t even know if she’ll like them yet.” Tom grinned cheekily, slipping the toy into the growing basket you were holding, planting a sloppy thank you kiss onto your cheek as he did so. You laughed as he fist pumped the air before continuing your way through the aisles. The excitement was building, the whole situation becoming more and more real, as you searched for the necessary items.
//// “No peeking!”
If you could’ve rolled your eyes, you would have. You had been sat in the car for around 15 minutes, with your eyes closed and your hands covering your face.
Tom had finally wrapped his latest film in the US, and you had spent the past three days in-between your classes ‘reuniting’ – neither of you surfacing from your shared bedroom unless you were forced to do so. You had assumed Tom had met up with the boys, gone down to his local or played golf during your class time and were therefore extremely confused as to why he suddenly woke up one morning, bribed you to get dressed and dragged you out of the house, only to beg you to keep your eyes closed as soon as you got into the car.
“I’m not sure I like this surprise Tom, where the hell are we going?”
“We’re almost there, you’re going to love it! I promise.”
You felt the car come to a halt, gravel crunching beneath the tyres.
“Stay here one sec.” You heard Tom’s car door slam shut, and soon enough you felt the cold air as yours opened.
He guided you out of the car, allowing you to use him for balance as you struggled to get your bearings, eyes remaining closed the entire time.
“Okay. You can open them.”
You slowly opened them, blinking confused as you looked at a grey building. you eyed tom from the side, seeing his cheeky grin lighting up his entire face before you turned back to the building. It was then that you noticed the sign.
You were at your local dog rescue shelter.
“Tom…what are we doing here?” You fully turn to face him, eyes widening in both excitement and shock.
“Well we’ve lived together for over a year now and I know we said it wasn’t possible. But with this new film, they’re looking at a franchise and it’s an entirely UK based production, so I’ll be here, and I don’t know – you’re graduating soon, I’ve looked into dog sitters and walkers for during the day. My family can help ou-”
You interrupt him mid-sentence, arms wrapping around his neck and shoulders as you pull him towards you, eyes fluttering closed as you kissed him. Your entire stomach erupted into fluttering butterflies at all the thought behind the surprise, at the idea that Tom was genuinely just as excited about adding to your little family as you were.
You push back suddenly, “This is actually happening right now? You’re not messing me around? Because that would be a mean prank…”
“No,” he grins, laughing. You felt his breath tickle your cheek, “it’s all real. Now c’mon, we’re going to be late for our doggy date.”
He tucks you into his side, arm wrapped around you as you head into the building, your stomach doing somersaults the entire time.
////
Your phone buzzed, lighting up next to your laptop. You were in your university library, researching titles of books you needed for your dissertation when a text from Tom popped up:
eta 10 minutes x
You immediately took note of the last couple books on your list, before closing your laptop and stuffing it into your bag. You grabbed the pile of books you’d already collected into your arms before checking them out at the front desk, heading immediately for the nearest train station.
You made it home in record time.
As you unlocked the front door you could hear the pitter patter of tiny feet on the wooden floor. Placing your bag and books on the entry table, you let your keys fall into the bowl alongside Tom’s.
“Hey baby. In here.”
You peeked around the corner into the living room where Tom was lying stretched out on his side in the centre of the room. Holding his head up with his palm, he held up a soft crinkly toy as your new little ball of golden fluff jumped on her hind legs in her attempts to reach it.
“We’re bonding,” he murmured, lifting his head to look up at you, “come join us.”
The little puppy was all legs and floppy ears as she caught her toy and bounced across the room, tripping over it as she tried to hold it up. She paused as you entered, her head tilting dramatically from left to right, her toy immediately laying discarded as she tumbled towards you.
“Hey puppy! Hi Nala.” You kneel down, letting her sniff you to remind herself of who you were, before she wiggled onto her back, paws in the air as you gave her belly rubs. Her white and golden tail thumping on the wooden floorboards.
“Oh my god Tom, I can’t believe she’s here!” He sits up, grinning from ear to ear. He rolls one of the balls next to him and you both watch as Nala bounces after it, attention immediately grabbed. You shuffle towards him, placing yourself in his lap, “Thank you, thank you, thank you. Did she cope with the journey okay?”
Tom winds his arms around your stomach, “She was a star. She’s great in the car, didn’t even cry.”
You nod as he begins peppering kisses on your collarbone, as you watch your new puppy continue to explore her new home.
Your eyes are immediately drawn to one of the discarded toys, the giant octopus that was taking up a scary amount of room on the floor. You roll your head towards your boyfriend smirking slightly, “I take it she didn’t like it?”
He whines quietly, huffing, “So she might have run away from it, I think it freaked her out…” you laugh, tangling a hand into his hair as you pull him towards you, before you hear a noise that causes you both to dart your heads up in search of the destructive sound.
“Oh, fantastic so she’s hates my choice in toys, and she’s a cockblock,” Tom mutters as you stifle a giggle, immediately hurrying after your little pup.
////
You were laying on the couch, Tom’s chest pressed to your back. Nala had completely passed out, lying half in her crate, and half out of it and you couldn’t take your eyes off of her.
“Well, I think that was relatively successful,” you murmur.
“You would think that, it wasn’t your shoe laces that she chewed up,” Tom murmured from behind you.
You’d both had a tiring day with Nala. Once she got bored of playing with her toys, she immediately decided that running outside with Tom’s shoe and hiding under one of the bushes just out of reach would be far more exciting.
“You can’t get mad at her, look at her little face.” You sigh, officially completely head over heels in love, “I can’t believe someone would just dump her, she’s gorgeous.”
You felt Tom brushing a hand up you side absentmindedly as he nodded, “I know. They think she was bought as a christmas present, and then abandoned a couple weeks later.”
“We’re going to give her so much love. And I can’t wait to introduce her to Tess. You think they’ll be friends?” You grasp the fingers trailing up your arm and bring them closer round you, interlocking yours with his.
“For sure...best of friends.” He says as you snuggle further down against Tom, his arms tightening around you as you both relax against each other.
The pair of you let Nala recharge her batteries, diving into an episode of the latest show you had been watching together when you jump with a small gasp at the startling movement beneath you, as Tom sat himself up.
“Oh my god, look!”
You take a glance at Nala. she’d shifted herself in her sleep so instead of laying on the cushioned dog bed and blankets that were in her crate, she’d shimmied out and lay flat out against the giant octopus. Paws tangled with the soft legs of the toy as her head rested on its fluffy body, her pink tongue lolling to one side.
“Yes!” Tom cheered, Nala’s eyes immediately opening from the noise, “I knew she’d love it! Watch this space, Oscar the octopus is going to be her favourite.” He jumped off the couch and hunkered down next to her.
“Wait…do not tell me you named it?”
You took in the man in front of you, lying on his front playing with the pads of Nala’s paws and felt your cheeks begin to ache slightly from the smile on your face.
“Who’s clever! Yes Nala, clever girl.”
You took in your dorky little family, sliding off the couch to join them. The perfect little family of three.

NOTE: Yes, this is a repost. I edited a few things around because I didn’t like it when I read it over. Took me a few days to actually get around to doing such thing. Sorry about that, but please enjoy!
Dean wasn’t sure if he should be concerned at the state he found you in when he walked into the kitchen this morning, or take a picture to tease you about this later. It seemed you were in the process of eating breakfast before you somehow fell asleep at the table, your head cradled in your arms as you quietly snored, notifying Dean that you were in a deep sleep. You hadn’t taken a hunt in the past couple of days since coming back from New York, giving you and the boys a chance to catch up on some sleep between looking for jobs and trying to figure out how to fix the mess Metatron made. While you helped when you could, your sleep hadn’t been disturbed all that much. Dean thought this might have been the first time since you started hunting you’ve gotten a healthy amount of sleep.
He could tell because you slept like the dead last night. Dean had to lovingly, but quite forcefully, push you off his chest so he could get a jump start on the day. Normally it was you who slipped out of bed first and Dean eventually got himself up. Instead you rolled over to your side of the bed and slept for another twenty minutes before you got up. You seemed your usual self when you woke up this morning, eyes half-shut and grumpy, signaling to him you forced yourself up against your own will. On mornings like this Dean learned to wait until your first cup of caffeine to speak a word to you. It seemed you had just done that from how the pot was still hot and plenty full for everyone else. But for some reason, you were still exhausted and in need of a little cat nap.
“Sweetheart?” Dean quietly spoke out to you, making sure to keep his voice at a soft enough level so he didn’t disturb you from your slumber. Normally you were a light sleeper on a good day. He made his way over to the table and leaned over to see your peacefully sleeping face. You were out cold. His lips twitched into a small smile at how adorable you looked. Dean knew he was going to get it from what he did next, but to hell with the consequences. He never got the chance to prank you like he did with Sam.
Dean made his way over to the table with a bowl in hand and a little too roughly dropped it down, causing you to wake up abruptly and with a rush of panic. The man snickered to himself behind his coffee cup as he watched you frantically look around the kitchen wondering where the noise came from. When you realized who was to blame for your rude awakening, there was a few second delayed reaction before you rolled your eyes.
“Good morning, Sleeping Beauty.” Dean greeted you, smiling from the way you tried to fix your disheveled hair and smooth down your wrinkled top. “Did I disturb you?’
“What? No.” You mumbled. You rubbed your eyes like a tired child and forced yourself to keep a yawn from escaping your mouth. Sam happened to come into the kitchen right as you dropped your arms into your lap. The younger Winchester gave you a slightly confused reaction at your groggy demeanour. Your face scrunched up in annoyance from his lingering stare. “What are you looking at, Sasquatch?”
“Did you get any sleep last night?” Sam asked you out of concern, wondering if a bad nightmare kept you up most of the hours. None of you were strangers to restless nights due to a wandering mind that went to dark places you traveled to. Your entire life was a living nightmare, your past troubles liked to come and haunt you when you tried to sleep. But it seemed that wasn’t the case for you.
“On the contrary, she slept like a drunk baby. I had to pry her off me this morning.” Dean answered his brother’s question for you on his behalf. “And I caught her napping on the table.”
“Before either one of you waste your breath, I’m fine. It’s just…I’m fine.” You reassured the younger Winchester before he could bombard you with his typical worried expression and a follow up question. Despite your lack of a proper answer to explain your exhaustion, you didn’t want them to worry. They liked to over exaggerate things when it came to you. It's always been that way. Lately you didn’t want them looming over your shoulder, asking you every few minutes if you were feeling okay. Before either one of the brothers could drag out this conservation farther, you quickly changed the subject. “How’s Kevin? Has he found anything yet?”
“Jack. He’s on about four days of no sleep.” Dean said. He grabbed the box of cereal and poured himself a bowl while Sam joined the both of you at the table after fixing himself a cup of coffee. “He looks worse than you.”
“Dean, please. You know Sammy doesn’t like it when you flirt with me out in the open like this.” You replied with a sarcastic remark with a little hope the boys might think you were in decent shape after all if you were able to keep up with the petty banter. Despite how you looked. Somehow you thought you might feel worse. “What about Crowley? Do you think he might be lying about the whole ‘Metatron spell being irreversible’ thing?”
“Crowley lie?” Dean pretended to sound shock at such a possibility, causing Sam to scoff between sips of his coffee. While the situation was grim, there was a small silver lining that you might be able to use to your advantage over the demon. “I do know one thing. Next time that junkie’s jonesing for a hit of blood, we got leverage.” You were about to agree with the plan, knowing it was better than anything you had, but the words failed to come out of your mouth. Instead a rather loud yawn escaped first. “Seriously, you want a pillow?”
You rolled your eyes from your boyfriend’s concern hidden behind his behavior. “I’m fine.”
“You don’t look so good, Y/N.” Sam shared his concern along with his brother’s. He’d been silent for most of the conversation since settling beside you. It didn’t take much observations to see you weren’t looking that great as of lately. He was starting to grow uneasy with the possibility that there might be something wrong with you. Something deeper than you realized. “Do you feel like you’re getting sick?”
“I’m not sick. I just—I feel like my battery can’t recharge.” You admitted to them, trying to explain how you felt to the best of your ability to them. “I don’t know. It’s probably just stress or something.”
You reached for your bowl of soggy cereal when the room fell into a moment of silence. The brothers glanced over at one another from hearing how you felt. A string of unspoken words were said between them as they processed what you explained about your current situation. You were being held together from the inside out with duct tape and angel grace. Things weren’t moving quick or as efficient as they wanted. Despite wanting to talk about it, Ezekiel remained silent on a possible reassuring update, choosing to stay silent.
You scooped up a spoonful of flakes and stretched out your head to take a bite, only stopping at the sound of a cell phone going off. Dean reached a hand inside his pocket to pull out his phone after realizing it was his own and answered the call. The person on the other line was a familiar one to the boys, you however gave the older Winchester a slightly confused expression at hearing the name he greeted.
”Who’s Sheriff Mills?” You whispered to Sam, wondering why the name sounded a bit familiar, just not enough for you to put a face to a name.
“Jody Mills? The sheriff up in Sioux Falls? We worked on a case with her years back with all the dead people rising in town?” Sam tried refreshing your memory. You thought about it for a second before shaking your head, coming up blank. He tried to resist the urge to pass his brother a look of disbelief as he continued on to try and jog your memory. “She went on a blind date with Crowley and nearly died.”
“Oh.
Jody.” You finally figured out who was on the other line, your fingers snapping at your eureka moment before the call could be put on speaker for all of you to talk to the woman to see what she was calling about.
“Uh…I got a bit of an oddball to pitch your direction.” Jody said. You leaned forward to listen to the call better as you placed your elbow on the table to cradle your head. For a second you swore you heard a faint sound of something crashing in the distance. “A small town I cover outside of Sioux Falls—only crime to speak of being the occasional cow tipping. Then last week, four people go missing.”
“All right, so, what makes you think this is our kind of weird?” Dean asked the woman.
“I’ve got a witness who says he saw someone lift an S.U.V. to nab a girl last night.” She told you the key detail that made her think of the boys and call them for some extra help.
“Huh.” You glanced over at the boys with a rather intrigued expression as the possibility of another case for you to dig a little bit deeper into to see if it might be a hunt. “I don’t know about you, but I’d say that’s definitely our kind of weird.”
+ + +
You and the boys packed up your things and made the drive up to South Dakota to visit the sheriff. You figured it wouldn't hurt to keep yourselves busy while Kevin worked himself to the bone with the tablet. All of you decided to meet at the latest crime scene and go from there while you caught up on details. You were happy to be out of the bunker and moving around. You hoped going back on another hunt might give you a second wind. There was nothing better than a couple of missing people to get the adrenaline pumping. You just wished you knew what was making you so damn tired. You bit back another yawn when the Impala pulled into the parking lot of some diner.
You were the last one to get out when Dean parked the car next to the sheriff’s truck, still moving a bit slower than you intended. The boys greeted Jody with wide smiles and tight hugs after seeing her again. You slammed the backseat door shut and smoothed out your outfit before approaching the woman, giving her a friendly smile. However it seemed she wasn’t expecting to see you. Your smile faltered slightly at the confused and startled expression that crossed her face. It seemed the boys failed to mention about your resurrection from the dead when they called to see how she was after everything that went down earlier this year with her blind date with the King of Hell.
“What’s wrong, Jody? You look like you’ve seen a ghost.” Dean joked with the woman, finding her reaction at seeing someone who thought was dead was rather funny. She turned her head to look over at the man, demanding an explanation. “Yeah. We felt the same way when I saw her again. It’s a long, messy story.”
“I’m
a ghost. Or a zombie.” You reassured the woman before she could try and process how you were somehow alive. “It really is a messy story. Short version of it all: not really dead, just lost my memory and thought I was someone else for two years.”
“It never is easy with you boys, huh?” Jody felt the need to ask. You could hear the humor in her voice at the trouble that seemed to follow them. “Anyway, it’s nice to see you again, Y/N. Glad you’re not dead.”
“Me too.” You agreed with the woman, smiling at how her personality peeked through her words. From what you remembered about the woman all those years ago when Bobby was still alive, you liked her. And the things the boys mentioned about her during the drive here made you think she was going to be a good friend to have on your side. “Luckily, I’m back and ready to hunt down whatever is kidnapping these people.”
“That’s the spirit. So, car was right over there, ass over teakettle.” Jody gestured over to the other side of the parking lot where the abduction took place, all that remained was the broken glass from the car that was currently being swept up by a maintenance worker. “Now, normally, if somebody would tell me that one guy lifted an S.U.V, I’d tell him to take a flying leap, but after what I’ve seen and now heard…”
“Nothing’s impossible.” You said. You opened up the case file to one of the missing people and skimmed through the information, wondering if there might be something important here to make note of while the boys went through the others. "How does this match up with other missing people?”
“Well, four abductions, strong evidence left at every scene—literally.” Jody said.
“So, the first vic was a pastor?” Sam asked, wondering if there was another more solid connection to the rest of the victims.
“Yeah. Door of his study was punched in. And the next two—an engaged couple.” Jody explained the case in better detail. You looked down at the case file Dean laid open on the trunk of the Impala and the black and white photograph attached. All of the victims appeared to be the small town folk who were innocent at first glance. Someone went out of their way to snatch them up.
“Locked bedroom window was ripped open.” Dean noted the similarly strange and destructive pattern between each kidnapping.
‘And then we have our waitress here with the topsy-turvy ride.” Jody added.
“Any other connection among them?” Sam wondered.
“Yeah. They were all members of Good Faith church here.” Jody said. You narrowed your eyes slightly while you thought of the possibility of what might be might be to blame for this if there was a religious connection to all of this. You and the boys dealt with something like this a little similar earlier in the year. “My church group back in Sioux Falls was in a tizzy over it.”
Dean hummed his response at hearing the sheriff and her new found spiritual faith. You tossed him a dirty look at his reaction to the woman’s faith to God. She had every right to believe in whatever she wanted, even if you didn’t feel the same way. Jody seemed to have picked up on the same feelings you had when she asked him what that was all about. “I didn’t peg you for churchy.”
“Yeah. You know…choking on the ladies’ room floor ‘cause of witchcraft kind of makes a higher power seem relevant.” Jody gave the man a truthful response to her sudden urge to join a church. You offered a weak smile when you saw her eyes direct over to you. “And seeing someone you were told was dead doesn’t help, either.”
“Jody, are you sure you’re ready to jump back into the fray?” Dean asked the woman in a concerned tone of voice, knowing all the things she witnessed last year and the passing of Bobby didn’t help the woman. But it seemed he underestimated her.
“This wackadoo stuff keeps coming. More I know, better armed I’ll be.” Jody gave an honest response to the man’s question. She was a sheriff, after all. If she wanted to protect her town from creatures that went bump in the night, she was going to have some practice in order to do that. You had a feeling from what Jody witnessed over the years, it was going to take a lot to scare the woman to the core.
“Okay, so, we have missing church folk and super strength.” Sam summarized what all of you knew at the moment so far about the case. He decided to take a shot in the dark, figuring it wouldn’t hurt to throw his theory out there. “Maybe angels harvesting vessels? Could be a Buddy Boyle type thing.”
“Wh—angels?” Jody repeated the creature the younger Winchester spoke out in the open like it was nothing. She looked at all of you with disbelief at how casual you were being. “You’re joking.”
“Don’t get your pants on fire.” Dean said, stopping the woman from becoming thrilled at hearing about creatures she thought only existed in the bible. “They suck.”
“You said there was a witness.” Sam said, circling back to what Jody mentioned earlier.
“Yeah, well…” Jody shrugged at the person who was waiting for you to talk to them. She didn’t seem too set on the idea they were going to be any help to you. “More or less.”
You and the boys decided to get a booth inside the restaurant while Jody rounded up the witness so you could speak to them. You sipped the coffee you ordered out of politeness and patiently waited. A few minutes later Jody arrived with your witness, a homeless man who most likely camped out near the place from the looks of him. You offered a friendly smile when the man's eyes scanned across the table to see what this was all about. Jody pulled up a chair while she ushered the man to take the seat in the booth next to you when you slid over to be close to the window. He set his coffee cup down to the table, seeming comfortable enough to give his side of the story.
“Okay, Slim.” Jody said. “My friends here want to talk to you about the missing girl.”
“Honor. Her name was Honor.” The man started off by giving the missing girl’s name, indicating that he knew her on some personal level. And it seemed he remembered her from the kind behavior given to someone like him. “Nice girl. Always left me meatloafs.”
“Slim, why don’t you tell us what you saw that night?’ Sam asked the man, hoping to get to the reason why he was here in the first place.
“I heard a big noise, got woke, and there’s somebody over there lifting a car up—like this.” Slim demonstrated what he witnessed last night, lifting up his arms the way he saw the stranger did to the car, as if the several ton machine weighed nothing.
“And did you happen to see who it was?” You asked him another question.
“I was too far. But I saw a light go off.” Slim made sure to add a small detail he thought was important enough to mention. Sam guessed it was a white light, “Blue. Blue like fire. But not. Then she was—she wasn’t there.”
“Could you think of anything else?” Dean hoped for a little bit more from the man, but Slim shook his head before he looked down to his cup of coffee. He was helpful enough for you and the boys at figuring out what you might be tracking. Dean pulled out a small wad of cash from his pocket and handed over a twenty dollar bill to Slim, hoping to give him a hot meal for his help. “Well Slim, thank you for your time.”
Slim happily pocketed the money and went on his way with the cup of coffee he came over with. You let out a quiet sigh from trying to figure out the proper direction you should be going to figure all of this out. While you didn’t have much at the moment, Slim’s description of the kidnapping might have been something for you and the boys to go off on.
“Okay. So, no white light. No angel.” Sam said, feeling confident enough to cross the creature off the list at the endless other monsters to blame.
“Has anybody talked to the victims’ families?’ Dean asked the sheriff.
“It’s next on my list.” Jody answered.
“Okay, and you said that they were all part of the same church?” Dean’s question was replied with a nod of the head from Jody. This connection, strong or weak as it might be, was the only one you had going for you as a possible hunting ground of where this monster was picking their victims. It was better than anything. Your lips stretched into a frown when Dean looked over at you. “Ready to get your worship on?”
+ + +
You and the boys decided to change out your clothes meant for posing as federal agents in favor of something more casual. The church all four of your victims seemed the usual run of the mill place of worship. You pretended to play along as the new people in town interested in joining to get a better understanding of how things worked. The woman who helped give you a tour of the place was a little too friendly and squeaky clean for your liking. She smiled in delight when you and Dean introduced yourselves as a happy couple "engaged to be engaged" with his little brother tagging along.
You roamed around the church hand in hand with Dean while Bonnie, your overly peppy tour guide, told you all the things Good Faith church offered to its members and the public. Usual things like Sunday school and charities for the homeless. You decided to have a little fun and play into the whole loving couple when Bonnie mentioned the church was perfect for weddings as well. You smiled at her when she occasionally turned to see you and Dean whispering to each other, acting like a couple of crazy kids in love with a religious ceremony in mind. It wasn't that far off from the truth. You did love Dean, and while you wanted to marry him someday, a church would be the last place you'd choose to do it.
After the tour was complete, the four of you made your way to Bonnie's office where she took a seat at her desk before gesturing for the rest of you to follow with the few chairs she had available. Sam missed out when his brother swiftly snatched the chair next to yours, causing Dean to smirk in victory while the younger man awkwardly looked around to find another seat and pulled it up next to the desk.
"We hope you enjoyed the tour." Bonnie said, the smile she greeted you with felt as if it never left her face. It was starting to make your cheeks hurt at the welcoming disposition she carried on. "Any questions before we get you all registered?"
"Yeah. Uh, look," You pretended to be apprehensive from the subject you were about to approach after she had been so kind to you. "Ms. Futchko—"
"Oh, please, dear." Bonnie quietly laughed at the formalities and corrected to you something more casual, wanting to treat this situation like you were among friends. "Bonnie will do just fine."
"We love the church. We do." You cushioned the strange questions you were about to ask her, deciding to pretend and act as if you were a concerned citizen wondering what you might be getting yourself into. "But...well, we've heard that a few members have gone missing. And while my boyfriend likes to think he's Superman," You flashed a quick smile as you reached out to squeeze Dean's hand before letting it rest there to continue milking the little performance on sharing your fake concerns. "We’ve been talking in private about it. And to be honest…that kind of scares us.”
"Let me assure you, with our increased security, Good Faith has never been safer." Bonnie told you, placing a hand to her chest to try and give all of you a better peace of mind. It seemed she was worried about her fellow churchgoer, just in the way a little too religious person thought was the best form of action. Leaving it up all to the chance God would intervene and save the day. "And those people who have gone missing, well, they are front and center in our prayers."
"What a relief." Dean let out a breath at the reassuring sounding news, making Bonnie's smile return after it disappeared shortly from the change in conversation. "Now, you must have been close to them."
"Well, we do share the A.P.U. bond." Bonnie. Dean pretended to be intrigued at hearing such a thing when he asked more about it. "Our chastity group. ‘Abstinence Purifies Us.’”
You pretended to turn your head to another direction when you scratched your nose, the easiest way to sneak an eye roll of frustration at hearing the new connection to the victims. Out of anything, you should’ve seen the virginity angle coming from where you were.
"Wow." Sam laughed and smiled, faking interest about such a group. "You mind if we sit in on that, maybe see if it's for us?"
“I’m afraid it’s members only. I'm sorry, but it can get pretty personal." Bonnie apologized for the inconvenience after offering so many things for you to join, but it seemed this one was off limits for obvious reasons. You, never being the one to miss an opportunity, jumped to it before either one of the boys could back out.
“Then count us in.” You said, lightly smacking your thigh as you grinned.
"Well, I'll be a squirrel in a skirt." Bonnie softly laughed in delight at hearing your eager enthusiasm to join a group, intidicating to her that the three of you were good Christians. You mirrored her behavior as you smiled over at Dean when he squeezed your hand a little too roughly, wondering what the hell you got yourselves into. "I'll be back in a jiff with the papers."
Bonnie wasted no time jumping up from her seat and heading to another room across the way, allowing you to watch what she was doing. She opened up a filing cabinet and shuffled around some papers to find what she was looking for. Your attention fell back to Dean when you felt him softly smack your arm.
“A chastity group?” Dean asked you, wondering if this was really how you wanted to spend your afternoon. And why you needed to drag him into your plan. You knew he would love to do anything else than listen to a bunch of horny virgins go on about temptations and sins brought on by the world.
"It's not a bad idea." Sam seemed to have agreed with your plan of action, figuring out the same possible pattern you had. If you knew who was in the group, you might have a better chance at saving others from going missing. "If all the members were in A.P.U., then maybe whatever took them is stalking virgins."
"And that Slim guy said he thought he saw fire." Dean added another little detail that went together with the virginity part. Something you've dealt with before. "So, what are you guys thinking, dragons?"
You never got the chance to finish the conversation when you saw Bonnie return back with the forms in hand. You cleared your throat and went back to acting casual as if that’s what you had been doing the entire time she was gone during the short period of time. You forced yourself to smile again when she handed you over a clipboard with a piece of paper attached.
"You can just sign here, and your purification can begin." Bonnie instructed you, letting you glance down at the piece of paper. You read the title of the paper and slowly your expression fell as to what you were about to promise. Something you lost several years ago. You bit your bottom lip when Sam mentioned the pledge, only to be taken by someone who had never had intercourse before. "It's a commitment to your virginity."
"I don't think we can really un-ring that bell." Dean thought he was funny with the innocent sounding joke, deciding to humor himself. Bonnie, however, stared at the man with a blank expression. It hadn't dawned on her just yet why you couldn't sign right away. "You know what I mean?"
A moment of silence fell across the room as Dean's smile faded away when Bonnie continued to stare at the man with eyes too wide for his personal comfort. Slowly, the wheels in her head started turning, making her realize the sins you've committed. "Oh. I see." Bonnie's gaze quickly darted away from you and Dean specifically, as if she was trying to hide her disappointment. However, like the good Chrisitan that she was, the woman offered you a chance at redemption. "Well...if you just ask for God's forgiveness for your sins and make a new vow of chastity, well, then you'll be born again as a virgin in His eyes."
"So, you just hit the 'virginity do-over' button, and all is good with the man upstairs?" Dean's question meant to come off as sincere and curious, but he had a way of coming off a little igorent at times. Sometimes he didn't understand the kind of people he was dealing with and how to adapt.
"It's not a button." Bonnie corrected the man. Her tone of voice fell into a softer, and yet slightly colder one as she defended her personal views in a way to make him better understand. "And...this isn't just a piece of paper. I mean, this is your clean slate, your chance to be a virgin until marriage. Isn't that something you want? To be pure for each other until your wedding night, the way God intended?”
You raised your brow slightly from the way Bonnie tried to guilt trip you for doing something thought of as a sin. Premarital sex was the least horrible thing someone could do. However, just to get yourself into this damn group, you decided to pretend and feel remorseful for a second. You looked over to Dean, the both of you nodding your head and shared matching smiles. "Well, you had me at 'clean slate.' Right, sweetheart?" Dean asked you, clicking his pen to be the first one to sign. "Let's do this."
You and the boys signed your names on the pledge and handed over the clipboards back to Bonnie's awaiting hands. She glanced down at the names you scribbled down and smiled in delight. "Congratulations Sam and Dean Winchester, and Y/N Y/L/N. You are all virgins."
You found yourself letting out a quiet laugh at hearing something you hadn't heard in a while. Sam faked his enthusiasm while Dean took it a smidge too far, grinning a little too wide and seeming excited at the news. At least making a show out of it for Bonnie. You knew one thing for certain: this was going to be one interesting afternoon.

You had been wandering in the woods for what seemed like eternity, you weren’t exactly sure where you were going or why you were here. It was the middle of the night, when you felt compelled to leave your home and go in search for a man. A voice had told you nothing more than he was living somewhere around here, in the middle of nowhere. You had been told that about three days ago, you had been endlessly wandering through the woods with no food, no water or even a clue who this man was. Your legs had begun to feel weak starting at the beginning of what you figured was the fourth day. It was then you came to a clearing, in the middle of the field was a strange metal statue, what was that? The bright sun blinded you as you entered the direct sunlight as you headed towards the entrance. There was no one around, how in the world was this the place you weren’t meant to be? The closer you got, you heard male voices speaking they seemed hushed but you honestly didn’t care. They didn’t notice you till you nearly collapsed in front of them,
“M-Micheal?” You stammered, “I need Micheal,” you whisper before you saw nothing but darkness.
The two men standing before you watched as your eyes rolled to the back of your head before collapsing to the ground. You were dirty, clearly having been in the woods for awhile. Normally they would be hesitant to bring a stranger into the school but the fact you asked for Micheal intrigued them even more. How did you know about the new student that was prepared to test to be the new alpha?
There was no doubt you played some important role here, maybe the witches had sent you? Where they trying to get a spy on the inside? Regardless, they managed to get you inside, finding a spare bed to lay you in for the time being. Many questions where asked of them as they walked through the academy, mainly from the boys who had witnessed them walking by but they gave them no answers, seeing as though they had none themselves.
Micheal wasn’t a hard student to find among the others, mainly cause his energy stood out to them the most but to you it was even stronger. Feeling his energy getting closer made your eyes fly open, you body moved as if you were on autopilot. You legs swung over the side of the unfamiliar bed, the room was rather large but that didn’t exactly matter, all you wanted was to see him. You had to be beside him.
You easily swung the door open only to be overwhelmed by his energy. He stood across the way, glancing your way, a wide smirk grew on his face. He made his way towards you, you didn’t dare move even though you wanted nothing more to be near him. Micheal looked around quickly before walking into the room with you, shutting the door behind the both of you and locking it using his power. You reached your hand out, almost like a mindless zombie but once your hands touched the trance went away. You had found him.
“Micheal,” you whisper looking up at him.
His eyes dark, “So my father sent you?” He questioned his facial expression unreadable,
“Yes, we were destined,” you say softly, “He wants us together, I only make you stronger,” you didn’t break eye contact, you could tell he wanted to do more but something was holding him back.
“They won’t let you stay,” he says, “they already believe you to be some sort of spy that the witches sent,” you looked at him, almost as if it didn’t exactly matter. “If they send me away, I will only come back for you. Nothing can separate us,” you tell him, “We are meant to rule together.” You gently caress his cheek, wanting nothing more than to be closer to him. He signs heavily, he gently touches your cheek in return but this was for something completely different. Your mind felt less hazy, less controlled.
“Now that you are completely here, tell me all you remember,”
And you did. You told him how you awoke from your sleep one night and compelled to leave your family and walk into the forest with no word. It was in the woods when a spell seemed to be cast over you, a black goat having approached you scaring you half to death.
“So my father did come to you,” he mumbles, “You are the one he spoke about,” He rubs his temples clearly trying to take in all this information. While he did that, you took in the man before you, short blonde hair, beautiful blue eyes, he was truly handsome… It wasn’t like you had a very great Homelife, it was pretty boring honestly.
“You do have a strong power within you,” he whispers bringing his face closer to yours, he seemed hesitant at first but now he seems convinced that you would be of use to him. “You will stay by my side at all time, they won’t take you away from me.” He growls almost possessively. Not like you minded, you knew he would keep you safe.
And keep you safe he did, you stayed by him every second of every day. To his lessons, to his training, to whatever it is he was doing. He even made it so you could stand beside him while they used a spell to give him protection and strength. You stood in the circle of fire with him, your arm wrapped in his. Though he knew he didn’t need either of those things from them, because you already gave him that.
You even stood by him when he went for his seven wonders test. His ‘teachers’ weren’t exactly pleased to hear that you would be tagging along but some how he convinced them that it was important that you stand by him. You had rested all day, knowing that he would likely pull from your energy when he began to do his ‘craft’. You knew he was strong enough to do it all without you, but you gave him even more just to be safe.
You were awake by his gentle voice and soft lips against your cheek, “My dear, it’s time to wake up,” he whispered into your ear, your eyes slowly opening meeting his beautiful one.
“Is it that time?” You ask him, he smiled softly answering your question. Slowly you sat up, he stood next to the bed waiting. You yawn a bit before standing for yourself,
“I got you this to wear my love,” he says as he motions towards a dress that laid on his desk. A black floor length dress with a beautiful gold pattern on the sleeves and chest piece. You weren’t afraid to undress in front of him and put the dress on.
“Micheal~ It’s beautiful!” You squeal as you spun with a giggle, he smiled at your reaction.
“My beautiful queen deserves the best,” he says as he fixes his uniform, “Now come, we must go,” he offers his arm, which you gladly take. You both make your way to the area where he would show his power. You enter with him at your side, his ‘teachers’ leading the way and the female witches waited for us. The witches gaze was on Micheal for a moment but was quickly shifted to you. Confusion overtook them seeing a female among the men, they prepared to ask but the men insisted the test begin. You stood away from Micheal, not near the men or the female, just alone. The supreme, Cordelia you had learned her name was, seemed uneasy not only with how well the tests were going, but with your presence. You could tell she wanted to ask but she couldn’t get a word out.
Micheal had passed almost all the tests given to him, the last task he was given was to basically bring someone back from somewhere. You didn’t fully understand seeing as though this whole magic thing but by the sounds of it, it seemed as though he had to go to hell to retrieve a soul. You knew this was something easy for him, seeing as though who his father was. He stood beside you as this was explained to him, you could feel him recharging his energy by taking yours, it wasn’t enough to hurt you it just made you tired. Once they finished arguing each other, Cordelia took one of the men into another room to speak about this you had assumed. Micheal had leaned down to your ear, you kept a straight face as his breath tickled your neck.
“You’re doing so well my dear,” he praises, “Keep it up and I will reward you later,” he gently nips your earlobe before pulling away. The witches that stood across the room eyed you both suspiciously and curiously. You tried to keep a straight face after Micheals slightly teasing words but you knew that if you listened, you would be rewarded, he was a man of his word. Micheal left your side only to go towards the door and use his power to open it. You knew full well he would do this.
Once convinced, the test began, Micheal laid on the ground ready to begin. It was so strange to see this ritual in progress. They began to chant until Micheal seemingly fell asleep, leaving you with some anxious witches and eager warlocks. Now that there was silence for a moment, Cordelia finally was able to ask her question.
“And who is this?” She asked looking at you, “She hasn’t seemingly left Micheals side all evening.” She points out looking you up and down. You stood there in silence, no one spoke a word mainly because even the warlocks couldn’t answer that question and you refused to say anything that might give you away.
There was a long silence, and if Micheal hadn’t just shot up gasping for air you were sure a fight would have broke out. He woke up alone but surprised even the witches when he brought back the witch named Misty. Micheal stood to his feet, walking straight to you as he seemed exhausted by the ritual. While none of the witches were watching, you gently took his face in your hands, taking a deep breath you gave as much energy before they began to pay attention. The oldest witch then called one of the warlocks, ‘a pathetic pompous ass,’ which got a giggle out of you, she wasn’t wrong…
“I did everything you asked,” Micheal proudly says standing tall, you arm now linked with his. You both stood proud together, like a king and queen. Once the commotion seemed to die down, both you and Micheal took your leave heading towards his bedroom. All of them believed he needed rest, but you knew exactly what was going to happen behind those doors.
Micheal was eager to take you in every way possible before they had a gathering in the study. It didn’t take long for clothes to be shed and for you to be tossed onto the bed. Your face pushed into his pillow, your ass high in the air presenting yourself to him. No matter how much you begged him to take you, he did nothing but tease you, his touches light and gentle. This continued for what felt like an eternity but when you least expected it he turned into a monster. Thrusting into you like a wolf in heat, his hand wrapped in your hair pulling you to his chest. One hand pressed against your stomach, the other wrapped around your neck cutting off airflow. Your moans silenced by this but small sounds still managed to escape.
“Who do you belong to?” He growled in your ear as he continued to roughly pound into you. It took you a few minutes to register his words.
“You, my prince,” you sobbed as his hand now tightened against your throat. You felt your release coming, your eyes welled up with tears.
“Don’t you dare cum,” he continues to pound relentlessly into you, showing no signs of stopping.
You weren’t sure how much longer you could hold on, he let go of your neck for a brief moment giving you enough time to speak, “My prince, please!” You cry, he chuckled darkly his lips attacking your neck before roughly bitting it, marking you as his. You squeal as he pushes you forward onto your hands, his hand wrapped in your hair pulling just enough for it to force you to arch your back. You made sure to take this position to your advantage, you looked up at Micheal who was practically towering over you.
“You gonna cum?” He growls, you are only able to nod, “Then beg for me, beg your prince to let you cum,” he smirks proudly as he knew he had you right where he wanted you.
“Please my prince, let me cum on your cock. Please, I’ve been so good!” You cry trying to even comprehend words, “Please let me cum and make me yours forever!” At those words he groans loudly. Those were the magic words. His thrusts became stronger, if that was even possible, drawing a loud moan from you.
“Then cum!” He snarls as his hips continued to piston into you. Your orgasm hit you like a freight train, the cry that left your lips caused the lights in the room to flicker. The energy coming from you was overwhelming throwing Micheal into his own orgasm. His final growl was animalistic, demonic even, it was the hottest thing you had ever heard. Micheals thrusts slowed until the both of you lay still. He smirked at the sight of his princess fucked out and tired, he laid a gentle smack to your ass causing you to squeal. He gently caressed the cheek in his hand before flipping you on your back.
You laid there trying to catch your breath, your eyes automatically locking with his.
“I’m not sure I will be able to walk my love,” you giggle pulling him down to you for a final kiss. He chuckled against your lips before pulling away, “That’s alright, you stay here and rest beautiful,” he says, “I will be back in a little bit,” he kisses your forehead before standing up and getting dressed.
“I love you my prince,” you whisper before falling into a deep sleep. You weren’t sure what time it was when Micheal came back but you did end up finding his way back to bed. You felt him wrap his arm around your waist and pull you towards him. You couldn’t stop yourself from cuddling even closer, feeling safe in his arms.
Days passed and things seemed to still be going in the right direction, as you had hoped they would. Though Micheal had been going out more, which you gladly followed. It wasn’t until that day, you were both heading towards some random area. Micheal seemed adamant that you get there quickly, and now you could see why. Three charred corpses were in your line of sight, you knew one of them belonged to the woman who acted like his mother. A scream of agony resonated from him as he mourned for his dead mother.
“It’s over,” Cordelia says from behind the both of you, where had she come from? You stood by Micheal, his form still slightly shaking. “We know who you are, your allies are all dead,” she continued to speak, “You failed,”
Micheal was angered by this, “Then you know I can defy death, I’ll just bring her back. My Ms. Mead will stand by me to watch you die.” He manages to speak out.
“You can go to hell, but you won’t find her there,” she spoke, “her soul is hidden under a spell that only I can break. You’ll never see her again.” He fell to his knees, you could feel his pain it hurt you just as much as it hurt him.
“You’re all alone,” Cordelia continues, you knew Micheal wasn’t alone, he had you and his father.
“I have my father,” he mumbles, he takes your arm as you kneel next to him, “I have my princess,” his voice soft, almost powerless almost trying to convince himself that he wouldn’t lose you.
“Where is your father now? Why did he let this happen? You don’t have to follow this path he laid out for you,” she tells him, you didn’t see hostility in her but you could tell Micheal was conflicted.
“As for her,” she starts, “Do you think she will stay by you? Do you think she will be able to survive all of this?” She questions him, you knew she wanted to continue speaking.
“I will always stand by him,” you growl lowly not liking her tone as she spoke to you.
“You can write your own destiny, there is humanity in you. I see it,” she stands up, “If you come with me, maybe we can find it, together,” You were slightly shocked when Micheal takes her hand as he stood to his feet. You watched as his tightened his grip on her, drawing her close,
“Somehow, someway, I will bring her back and then I’m going to kill every last one of you,” he growls before taking your arm and walking away. You knew what Micheal had to do but did he want you to take that journey with him? He had to speak to him father and you weren’t so sure if he would want you present.
“My love?” You say softly as you walk swiftly with him. “I want you to know I will never leave your side, no matter what,” you say confidently. He doesn’t respond but he nods at your comment. You could tell, now wasn’t the time for that.
Going to the woods was your next destination, you had honestly believed Micheal would have told you to stay at the school so he could be alone to find himself but he kept you right by his side. You watched him draw the pentagram on the ground, big enough for the both of you to sit in the center. He declared he would not leave the circle till he got his answer, you knew his father wouldn’t speak so easily. He knelt In the middle, prepared to wait for the answer he was looking for. You sat beside him, your hand placed gently on his thigh as he stared into the woods.
The sun fell from the sky, then rose, before you had known it four days had gone by. Micheal hadn’t moved an inch, your head was placed gently on his lap. His forehead laid gently on your temple as he was trying to be as comfortable as possible.
He suddenly sat up, looking around as if he had seen something before he began to talk to no one. Slowly you sat up, no one was around you but you knew this meant he was being tested. Whoever it was, he wanted them to leave and declared them not to be real. He seemed distraught for a few moments before he launched himself up at no one before falling onto his back once more. He was afraid.
A black goat appeared, seemingly out of nowhere, a sign from his father. Micheal wasted no time before launching himself at the goat, stabbing it spraying blood all over himself. In his rage, he ripped the poor animals horns off, more blood covered his nice clothes. You would be lying if you said it wasn’t the hottest thing you had ever seen. Whenever Micheal acted on his rage, it sent tingles down your spin.
“What do you want from me?!” He cries to no one, “What am I supposed to do?!” He shouts hoping his father would answer. He fell to his knees, a small sob escaping his lips. You crawled over to him,
“My love,” you whisper grabbing his attention immediately. Your hands cupped his face, you brought his face to yours in a searing kiss. Things did heat up, he took you right there in the middle of the woods. Much to your surprise he was gentle with you, slow, taking his time to savor every moment he had with you. It was amazing… You knew he was going to get his answer soon.
After all of that, you had found yourself at a church for his father, a woman of the congregation offered to take you both in for something to eat. You paid no mind to their conversation until you were heard the woman shout, a knife in hand. Micheal didn’t seem frightened by this but that was cause he knew they were waiting for him. He was the anti-christ.
The knife brought to his throat, “Well before you kill me, see me!” He growls moving his hair to the side showing off the mark he had behind his ear. It was almost immediate that the woman dropped the knife and gasped “Hail satan! Our savior has risen!”
The next events you knew what likely was to come, walking in the pouring rain towards the satanic church where he would make himself known to the group. You three had barged in just before the human sacrifice where Micheal was now given the honor of doing so. He walked towards them, not before offering his arm to you.
“This honor is yours too my princess,” he whispers shocking the woman, the whole group seemed to also be surprised at this. You smiled widely, he would do the killing and you would stay behind and watch. He took the sacrifices and slit their throats, the choir singing louder than before setting the tone for the ‘praise’ they were giving. Once the deed was done, seeing Micheal in front of the bloody bodies sent a hot wave through your body towards your core. The look on his face, demonic and strong, it was attractive.
“Micheal~” you whisper as you stand beside him. He glances at you, curiosity in his eyes. “I want you, now,” you whimper looking up at him. His eyes instantly grew dark, those in the room bowed before him chanting, hail satan. He pulls you towards his, his lips smashing into yours in a hungry and rough kiss. No one in the room did anything, just continued with their chanting. Micheal picked you up by your waist, lifting you up onto the alter you legs automatically wrapping tightly around his slim waist, your lips never parting from his. He began to bunch up your dress, not plaining to waste a single second. You undid his pants, just enough to free his hardened cock.
He pushes your panties aside, pushing his dick into you with no hesitation. He was pounding into you ruthlessly, you didn’t even try to hide the fact that this was happening. Your moans loud as he made you feel better than ever. The people around you watching as he pleased you, only increasing the pleasure.
“You like that they’re watching, princess?” He growls into your ear as he pounds into you, you can’t hide it,
“Yes!” You cry as he continues, he chuckles darkly. He takes your legs, widening them letting his go deeper. The idea of these people watching and the pace Micheal had set made your orgasm come quicker than.
“Who’s making you feel this good?” He groans into your ear,
“You are my prince,” he slaps your thigh harshly signaling that that wasn’t the answer he was looking for. He thrusted roughly just before you answered,
“You are my king!” You shout shamelessly drawing a groan from his lips. “Please let me cum, my king, please,” you beg for everyone to hear.
He laughs evilly, “Not yet my queen, you will cum with me,” your eyes water as the pleasure grows stronger and harder to contain.
His thrusts becoming sloppy and less precise, “Cum my queen,” you cry out, your walls clamping down on him threw him over the edge, his cum filling you up. Your body shook from the pleasure as you came down from your high. He pulls your lips to his in a passionate kiss, it showed you how much he loved you. The following events that happened that night were a blur, the pounding that Micheal had gave you honestly tired you out. You knew that this was just the beginning of a huge plan that you knew he would be able to execute properly.

(Yo man this gif makes me and my vagina feel things) HAHAHAHA
Convict Mark Tuan X Private Investigator Reader (with a hint of Jaebum)
Genre: Angst, Murder Mystery, Crime, Past Lovers, Love triangle?
Word count: 10.2k (I’ve decided to break this down in to multiple parts because I don’t know how long I plan on making this story)
Summary: You’re a criminal investigator and you’re currently working on a cold case when your chief calls you in and lets you know that he has another case he wants you to work on. When you find out that your ex-boyfriend Mark is being suspected of first degree murder, you mind is all over the place. After agreeing to take on his case and seeing him again for the first time in over three years since your break up, it’s in those moments that you realize that you put both yourself and your relationship with your boyfriend and colleague Jaebum in danger as your feelings for Mark return.
A/N: I’ve been watching too many episodes of cold case files and forensic files on netflix during this quarantine so this is what came out of it. Honestly this story is all over the place I apologize. Happy reading!
“Hey y/n, I’m going on a coffee run. Did you want your usual?” You smiled at the younger boy and shyly nodded.
“Yes please! Thank you BamBam.”
He was a new recruit in the criminal investigations department that you were hired under and since you’ve been working in your unit for almost three years now, your boss assigned you to be his mentor. So far things were going quite well for him. BamBam was a great listener, very attentive and paid close attention to detail. He was also very funny, kind and extremely dedicated to making sure he tried his best to prove to your boss that he made the right decision in hiring him.
He’d always ask you questions and at first you didn’t necessarily care for his need to know every single detail. But you couldn’t blame him. Hell, as soon you entered the police program and graduated from college, you were itching to get out and start solving crime cases. However, your boss would always come up with reasons as to why you couldn’t go out in to the field just yet. It took almost two years for you to finally get promoted in to the position you were in and even then, you weren’t exactly where you wanted to be.
You were currently working on a cold case and it was already the fifth day since you first started doing your research and you were pretty proud with how much you’ve discovered within the last few days. All those late nights and the fact that you only got a total of six hours of sleep in the last week were worth it. As you began to flip through the folders that contained all the evidence from the crime scene in order to see what the previous detectives failed to notice, the gentle knock on the door broke you out of your thoughts.
“Hey, are you busy?” You smiled softly at the handsome man leaning against the door frame before giving him a small grin.
“Never too busy for you Im Jaebum. What can I do for you?” He walked in to your office and shut the door behind him before making his way over to you. He motioned for you to stand up before sitting down in your chair and pulling you on to his lap.
“How’s everything going baby?”
His lips were quick to find yours and you began to lose yourself in to the kiss for a few moments until you came to your senses.
“You’re always such a distraction. It’s like you purposely come in here to interrupt me so that you can get promoted to senior investigating specialist. You know your kisses are my weakness. Asshole.”
The giggle against your neck brought warmth to your cheeks as Jaebum began to leave soft kisses along the juncture of your neck.
“I just miss my girlfriend. Is there a problem with that? You’ve been staying here almost every day and night for the last week working on this case. It’s okay to take a break you know y/n. Don’t tire yourself out or else you’re going to get really sick. How about tomorrow, we take the day off and I can take good care of you. What do you think?” With the way he began to suck and nibble on your jaw, you knew exactly what he meant by taking care of you. The thought sent shivers down your spine but you found yourself playfully shoving him while rolling your eyes.
“And here I thought you were worried about my well being. How am I supposed to relax and recharge if you plan on rearranging my guts? If I take the day off tomorrow, I plan on sleeping the entire day. I’m exhausted.”
This earned you the most adorable pout from your boyfriend. “But babe, we haven’t had sex in weeks. I’m dying here. As much as I love watching our homemade videos, it’s not the same as making love to my pretty girl. You don’t have to worry about a thing. I’ll take the lead and you just have to lay there looking like the goddess you are. Don’t lie y/n, you miss me blowing your back out. You miss my cock being buried deep in your cunt. You miss my tongue licking against your soaking pussy as my fingers get lost while pumping in and out of you. Fuck, I swear, the next time I make love to you I’m going to make sure you’re unable to move—“ the knock on the door made you quickly get off of Jaebum’s lap before pushing him under your desk. No one knew that the two of you were together other than the chief officer and you liked it that way.
Your relationship was nobody’s business but yours and your boyfriend’s. Relationships in your department were frowned upon, but you and Jaebum have been together a little while before you both got accepted in to the criminal investigation unit. You met the older boy back when you had joined the police academy and although the two of you had a rocky start because you were both extremely competitive, the two of you became the best of friends just a few months after your training.
Jaebum has been there for you through every trial and triumph. He was there when you were shot in the shoulder by an armed robber and he stayed with you in the hospital for the entire two weeks you were there for. He was there when you were promoted to the position you were currently employed as, he was there when your car broke down and helped you jump start it, he was there for you when your cat got sick and you didn’t know what to do, and he was there for you during the biggest heartbreak of your life. In fact, the heartbreak is what actually brought the two of you together.
In those moments that he would hold you close to his chest and rubbed your back as you cried over your ex boyfriend, how he would buy you all your favorite foods and drank with you to help you take your mind off of things, how he’d try and find activities for you both to do so your mind didn’t wander off to your failed relationship, for all the nights he stayed up listening to you vent about the unfortunate situation you were in, you fell for him and when he kissed you right after you thanked him for everything he’s done for you, you knew he felt the same way about you. That was two years ago and you’ve been in love with him ever since.
Jaebum was your best friend, your safe haven. He made you feel loved, cared for, appreciated and he made sure you were aware of the fact that you meant everything to him whether he did it verbally or physically.
“Hey y/n, here’s your coffee. By the way, boss man is looking for you. Would you happen to know where Jaebum is? I got him a doughnut.”
You thanked him politely before motioning for him to hand you over the pastry. “I haven’t seen him but I was just about to call him in to my office for a meeting so I can take that from you. Thanks again BamBam. Although, please stop spending your hard earned money on us. Just keep working hard, that’s all we want from you. Keep up the good work and your time to shine will come soon.” He smiled at you before taking his leave.
Right after he left your office, Jaebum came up from underneath the table and reached for his donut. “Speak for yourself y/n, I love the fact that we have our own personal butler and the fact that he’s so obedient. Oh yeah, sorry. I forgot to tell you, I was just so focused on your beautiful face—ow. It still bothers me that you’re not this rough in bed. Chief wants to talk to you.”
You looked up at him in curiosity as he took a bite out of his donut and leaned in to take a sip of your coffee.
“Do you know what for?” He shrugged indifferently before offering you a bite of his donut. You took a large bite and placed a chaste kiss on the corner of his lips, causing sugar to fall all around the lower part of his face.
“He didn’t say, but it sounds pretty serious so you better get going or else he’ll think we’re fucking in here. Although, that doesn’t sound like a bad idea. I’ve been thinking about the last time I had you up against this desk. Your noises sounded so fucking sexy as I pounded in to you—babe. Stop with the abuse. Hurry up and go talk to chief so we can ditch this popsicle stand and I can have my way with you. I love you.”
You connected your lips with his once more before attempting to leave your office. “I love you too. Now get back to work Im.” He playfully slapped your butt while pushing you towards the door. While making your way to the chief’s office, you couldn’t help but feel nervous at the thought of what he wanted to talk to you about. You knocked on his door three times until you heard him call you inside.
“Y/n, just the person I wanted to see. Where’s lover boy? I wanted to talk with him too.” You nodded in understanding before offering to go get Jaebum but he shook his head and began dialing Jaebum’s office phone.
“Im Jaebum. I gave you one simple task. Were you too busy sucking off y/n’s face to hear me tell you to come with her? Now hurry up, there’s no time to waste.”
He playfully rolled his eyes at the thought of your boyfriend before grinning at you. “How’s my favorite private investigator? I heard you’ve been practically living here for the last week. Y/n don’t get me wrong, I love how dedicated you are to this job and I see good things happening for you very soon. But my dear, your health comes first. I love your enthusiasm and the fact that you want to crack this case, but I’m forcing you to stay home tomorrow. Okay? That’s actually why I have you here now, if only your boy toy would hurry up—ah there he is. You always seem to walk in just as I’m talking bad about you. Hmmm, I don’t know how to approach you about this y/n and that’s why I felt the need to call Mr.Im in here, but there’s a very important assignment I need you to do for me. I’m going to need you to put that cold case on hold for a little while so you can put your focus on this case for the time being. You know you’re like a daughter to me and that I’d never do anything to hurt you or to put you in any danger. You’re the only person I know that can get some answers out of our current suspect.”
You gave him a look of curiosity and you could feel yourself getting worried with the way he was acting so secretively. As the next words fell from his mouth, you felt your heart sank to your chest and it was if you couldn’t breathe.
“Mark Tuan is being charged for first degree murder.”
You haven’t heard that name in years and now that you’re hearing it with the word murder in the same sentence sent a stabbing sensation to your gut.
Mark Tuan was the love of your life. He was the man you so badly wanted to spend the rest of your life with. The two of you began dating in your sophomore year in high school after you were partnered up for a science project and to say you were in love with him was an understatement. He meant everything to you. You were over the moon for him. Unfortunately, your perfect little world with him came crumbling down just a few weeks after your 23rd birthday.
When you and Mark graduated from high school, you went straight in to college to study for your degree in criminal justice as he went in to engineering. You were also a little more than five months in to your training at the police academy so you were happy that things were finally coming together for you. However, the call that you received at 2:30 in the morning from Mark’s younger brother Joey made you feel nauseous. The memories of the last night you’ve seen him were all coming back to you like a punch in the face.
Three Years Ago
Knowing you had a midterm the next morning, you went to bed early that night and didn’t get to watch the news. You failed to see the headline about a bunch of college students being busted for drugs. Unfortunately, one of the students just so happened to be your boyfriend.
The buzzing of your phone woke you up and you were upset at the thought of it being your boyfriend. He hadn’t contacted you the entire day and you had thought it was because he was busy studying for his midterm. When you read the caller id, you sat up immediately and began to worry. Joey never called you unless he needed to reach Mark. Why was he calling you in the wee hours of the morning? You couldn’t help but feel like something was wrong.
“Hey Joey, is everything okay?” You heard him whispering through the phone but you couldn’t quite understand what he was saying.
“Sorry Joey, I can’t hear you. What’s wrong?” It was then that you heard him sniffling and the sound made you frown.
“It’s Mark. I’m going to need you to come help me. Please. I’m not old enough—“
Your stomach began to hurt and you could feel your heart rate increasing. What did he mean he wasn’t old enough? Old enough for what? And what happened to your boyfriend?
“Joey, what’s going on? Where are you?”
The phone went silent for a few seconds as if he needed a moment to breathe before speaking up.
“I’m at the police station in downtown. Mark’s been arrested.” When you heard that your boyfriend was arrested, especially at the location that you have been currently interning at, it made you numb. So many thoughts were running through your mind. What did he do to get arrested? Why did he call his younger brother of all people? Why didn’t he reach out to you? He must’ve been so scared and you were extremely worried for him. You couldn’t think about anything but the man in question, which is why you quickly changed in to some jeans and a t-shirt before making your way to the police station.
You were regretting driving there by yourself since your mind wasn’t all there, but there was no time to call for a cab, nor did you want to have someone else to take you and your boyfriend back home. Once you arrived to the station, you saw Joey sitting on the front steps and you immediately made your way up to him and pulled him in to a hug. When you heard his sobs as he tightly held you, you felt bad for the younger boy. Mark was his biggest inspiration, his role model. You couldn’t imagine how nervous and scared he must’ve been hearing that his older brother was in jail.
“He didn’t want you or our parents knowing, that’s why he called me. But you have to be 21 to bail someone out and I didn’t know what to do.”
You sighed before making your way in to the station. One of the officers who had been training you looked at you in confusion when he saw you walking in to headquarters.
“Hey y/n, what are you doing here?” You gave him a sad smile.
“My boyfriend, Mark Tuan. He’s been arrested. I’m here to bail him out.”
The officer furrowed his brows before motioning for you to follow him. When he took you to his office instead of guiding you to your boyfriend, you were confused. But when he began to inform you as to why Mark was arrested in the first place, you felt like you were about to throw up.
“Your boyfriend is a drug dealer. He’s been dealing drugs for months. Whether or not he’s been doing them himself, we’re not too sure. But we’ve been tracking him and a few of his friends for months until we decided to catch all of them in the act. It wasn’t just marijuana y/n. He had all the hard stuff. Cocaine, heroin, meth, LSD, you name it. He was selling it to dozens of people. You can have him for tonight, I wasn’t actually going to let him go. But I like you, I think you’re one of the best rookies we have here. He’s a lucky guy to have you y/n, but his court case is next week Thursday. We’re giving him time to find a good lawyer since he refused to talk to us at all. His friends all claim that he’s the leader but I don’t know, I’ve been working here for over 25 years. I don’t get those vibes from him. I just need you to sign some papers and you’re good to go.”
You couldn’t believe that your boyfriend is a drug dealer. The officer’s words went through one ear and out the other. You didn’t know what to think or how to feel. You were numb and you didn’t know how you’d react when seeing him. After you were done carelessly filing the paperwork, the officer brought you over to his cell and you were quick to notice his broken expression when he saw you. Your boyfriend slowly made his way over to the opening before following behind you. The officer gave you a sad smile before pulling you in for a hug and whispered for you to take it easy. Once you made your way outside, Mark stomped over towards Joey and shoved him.
“What the fuck, I told you to come for a reason. I didn’t want y/n knowing!—“
You grabbed at his wrist and pulled him away from the younger boy. You could feel your blood boiling now that the situation was finally hitting you. The love of your life was a criminal and you weren’t going to stand here and act as if nothing was wrong.
“Don’t you dare yell at him! He called me because he didn’t know what to do. Would you rather him have called your parents? Is your mind too fucked up with drugs to remember that NINETEEN YEAR OLDS CAN’T BAIL PEOPLE OUT OF JAIL?! What the fuck is wrong with you? Drug dealing? You’re a drug dealer? When—why—how—who—I can’t even think. I work here Mark, you know that. I was going to find out sooner or later. How could you do this? Did you not think you were going to get caught? Drug dealing is a criminal offense and you can be sent to jail for years. I am a criminal investigator in training, do you know how pathetic I must look that my boyfriend is a fucking drug dealer? I can’t even look at you right now.”
You turned away from him, refusing to look at his tears as they began to fall from his cheeks. Mark was a very emotional person, it was one of the things you loved most about him. He cried over many things and it was cute that he was such a sensitive guy. But he had no right to cry right now because he was in the wrong.
“Baby, I’m so sorry. I can explain—”
You scoffed. “Well get to it, because I’m going to start saying things I may or may not even mean.”
He walked up to you and brought his hands down to your waist and you absentmindedly allowed him to do so while leaning in to his chest. Although you were mad at him, he was still your boyfriend and you couldn’t help but feel worried for him. You knew no matter how good of a lawyer he hired, he was going to jail.
“I don’t know where to start. I guess when we started talking about settling down and moving in together, I wanted to be able to provide you with nothing but the best because it’s what you deserve. I overheard a few guys in my class talking about how they were making a lot of money in such a short amount of time and I decided that I wanted to hear what they were doing to get their income. It was then that I found out they were drug dealers. They began to talk about just how much they made and they told me they’ve never been caught before, so I thought maybe I would do that until I saved up enough money to get us a nice place. I don’t know what I was thinking or why I did this shit for so long. But I did it with you in mind baby, this was all for you.”
You couldn’t believe your ears. It’s as if he was blaming you for his stupid decisions. He couldn’t possibly think he became a drug dealer for your sake. He was out of his mind. You were quick to pull away from his embrace and scowled at him before you began to hit at his chest.
“You did this for me? You threw your life away for me? That’s a fucking joke right? None of this shit is for me Mark. There are so many jobs out there, you were a fucking engineering major for fucks sakes. If you just waited a little longer until you graduated, you’d be set for life but no. You gave in to temptation and now you’re going to jail for God knows how long. Don’t you dare for one second think you did this for me. You might think you did, but you didn’t. If you had actually thought about me at least once, then you would’ve known how much I am against drugs and how I would be so upset like I am right now. I’m a fucking police officer in training Mark are you stupid? Did you really believe those guys when they said you’d never get caught? You’re a piece of art you know that?”
His sobs became louder with every word you were throwing at him because it was true. He was a fucking loser who broke your trust but more importantly, he broke your heart.
“Baby—“ you shook your head.
“Don’t call me that. We’re over Mark. I refuse to continue dating someone who purposely breaks the law and thinks about no one but himself. What about your family huh? Did you ever think about how this is going to affect them? Joey was crying because he was worried about you! What more your parents Mark? And school. You’re going to get expelled. You don’t think do you? Apparently you’re all over the fucking news. I can’t even process this whole situation. Joey, please make sure he gets home okay. And help him find a good lawyer, he’s going to need it.”
As you began walking away, the tight tug on your wrist ultimately prevented you from doing so. “You’re really going to throw away six years of our relationship just because I made a mistake? Everyone makes mistakes y/n. Nobodies perfect. You’re supposed to be here for me during such a time like this. Do you not love me?” You ripped your hand away before roughly jabbing at his chest.
“Don’t give me that shit. You know how much I love you. I love you with every fiber of my pathetic being. I’d go to the ends of the earth for you. I’d do anything you’d ask me to. You mean the entire world to me Mark. I don’t need anything else in this world other than you. But you let greed and your pride get in the way. You were so money hungry that you were willing to put our relationship and your education on the line. I used to talk so negatively about drug dealers and how I thought they were scumbags. Did you forget that my uncle dealt drugs? It ruined our entire family. Did you think just because you were my boyfriend that I’d let you off the hook that easily? It doesn’t fucking work that way Mark. Have a nice life.”
You ran towards your car and drove to an empty parking lot in order to cry your heart out. You just lost your best friend, your soulmate. The man who meant everything to you because of his selfish decisions. What were you going to do now? After you let everything out, you made your way back to your apartment and continued to cry for what felt like hours until you finally fell asleep. You ended up missing the midterm but begged your professor to allow you to retake it given the circumstances you were under that morning. Mark began calling you and texting you every single day, begging you for forgiveness and telling you that he was nothing without you but it was too late. Your mind was made up.
The thought of no longer having Mark in your life was a gut wrenching pain that only got worse as the days went by. There was a tiny voice inside of you telling you that you were being too harsh and acting on this too quickly but you knew it was the right thing to do. A part of you wanted to go to his trial, but you couldn’t find it in you to do so. Joey had let you know that Mark was sentenced to two years with parole and although you were exceptionally upset with him, you were glad he wasn’t sentenced longer like most drug dealers were. Mark wouldn’t last in jail, so you were glad he wasn’t going to be there for too long and that he’d have parole. You haven’t heard from him since the night before his trial and no matter how much your heart yearned for him and urged you to take him back and to forgive him, your mind told you otherwise.
You weren’t yourself after he was sent to jail. There were nights where you stayed up, not being able to sleep because you worried about Mark and his well being. If he was eating his meals, what he was doing, how the people were treating him. Your boss made sure he was getting special treatment because he knew no matter how much Mark put you through and how much your breakup had a negative impact on you and your work ethic, deep down you still loved Mark. There was no way you’d stop loving him that quickly. He was right, everyone makes mistakes and now he was paying for them.
Just a few days after the incident, Jaebum attempted to make fun of you like the two of you normally did to each other since he was not aware of what had happened; but when he noticed that you were rapidly losing weight, your eyes were red and puffy all the time and you had dark circles under your eyes, he knew something was up. He attempted to comfort you and tried to lend a hand when he felt like you needed it, but you would always coldly push him away. One night, the two of you were working late at the police station when he heard you quietly sobbing to yourself. He couldn’t help himself, as much as he wanted to give you your space, hearing you cry broke his heart.
Little did you know, the older boy developed feelings for you over the course of the few months he’s known you for. It was hard not to, the two of you would constantly be at each other necks and he found himself quickly falling for your beauty, charismatic personality, drive, motivation and how playful you could be. He made his way towards your desk and pulled you in to his chest; letting you continue to cry against his neck as he ran his fingers through your hair. He brought the two of you over to his desk and held you as your sobs began to slow down.
Once you were completely finished crying, you apologized for your little breakdown and willingly explained to him everything that was going on in your life. You don’t know why you decided to tell him of your problems, but you knew you could trust Jaebum. Your secret was safe with him.
From that day on, knowing you told him everything no matter how hard it probably was to do so, Jaebum made a promise to himself that he would do anything to protect you and to make sure you’d never cry again. It was most heartbreaking sight and he was going to do his best to fix the damage Mark caused all those years ago. When Jaebum looked at your blank facial expression, he could feel a pang of hurt hit his chest. He was sure you were moved on from Mark, but he knew it was a lot hearing that your ex-boyfriend was being convicted of murder and now you were being asked to work on the case.
There was no way you’d be able to face Mark especially now that he was being suspected of murder. Your heart felt like it was about to burst out of your chest and not even the soft caress on your wrist from your boyfriend was enough to break you out of the current hazy state you were in.
“With all due respect chief, I don’t think that’s a good idea. There are many other people you can get to work on this case. I mean look at her. She’s on the verge of crying—“ the chief released an exhausted sigh before leaning back in to his chair.
He knew that this news would take a toll on you and your mental health. He was the officer who informed you about Mark the night of his arrest. When he got the news that Mark was being suspected for the murder of 22-year-old Melissa Jung, he knew the only person who could get any information out of Mark was you. He hated the thought of putting you in a situation like this, but you were the only hope he had to finding out whether or not they had the wrong guy.
“I know Jaebum. Do you think I want to do this to her? I know it’s all too soon, but what can I do? She’s a criminal investigator, she knows what she signed up for when she decided this was the career path she wanted. I wouldn’t be asking her for such a huge favor if I had another choice. Y/n is an extremely strong person, and I know she is capable of separating her private life and her work life. She can be the one to help prove his innocence and make sure he isn’t being framed and wrongfully convicted. Why don’t the two of you go home for the rest of the day, take the day off tomorrow and return back on Friday? That way y/n can clear her mind and prepare herself—“ you shook your head before standing up from the chair.
“Where is he? I’d like to speak to him now.” Both the chief and your boyfriend stood up from their seats while giving you concerned looks.
“Y/n, there’s no need for that, this can wait.” You felt Jaebum’s grip on your waist and you reached down to hold his hand in attempts to calm down your racing heart.
“Baby, chief is right. Let’s go home so you can think about this—“ you shook your head in disagreement before giving him a sad smile.
“Like chief said, I have to separate my personal life from my work life. Mark is just another person who is being suspected of first degree murder. I know him, he didn’t do this. Or I’d like to think he didn’t. I know he’s been arrested before, however, Mark would never do something as terrible as murder. One thing about Mark, is that he is extremely stubborn. The only person who can get any information out of him is me. Don’t worry about me, I’m a big girl. I’ll be fine.”
He gave you a small pout before pulling you in for a hug. “Let me go with you—“ you shook your head in disagreement before bringing your hand up to his face and gently cupped his cheek.
“I’ll be fine Jae. I don’t know how long it will take to get any sort of confession of him, so you can go home and I’ll meet you there. Chief, what is the evidence that proves he’s a suspect?” The chief took a few moments to recuperate his thoughts before handing you over his file.
“The victim was a prostitute. His semen was found on the bed that her body was found in and apparently he was the last person seen leaving her hotel room. That’s all we have. He keeps claiming he didn’t do it and he does seem sincere. He even passed the polygraph test but until we find more evidence that there was someone else who was in that hotel room other than what he is claiming to tell us, there’s nothing we can do but assume it was him.”
Although you were currently dating Jaebum, hearing that Mark had slept with a prostitute sent an unsettling feeling to your stomach. But what did it matter what Mark did and who he had sex with? The day you broke up with him was the day you decided you wanted nothing to do with him and his personal life. You didn’t realize just how much the news was affecting you until Jaebum squeezed on your bicep.
“Y/n—“ you released a breath you didn’t know you were holding in while taking a look at the case files.
“Can you take me to him chief? I won’t be able to sleep tonight knowing there’s a chance he’s being framed or if there’s evidence we’re missing.” You placed a chaste kiss on the corner of Jaebum’s mouth before reassuring him that you’d be okay. When the chief began bring you towards the room that Mark was currently being questioned in by other criminal investigators, you were soon regretting your decision of not going straight home and waiting a few days to interrogate him.
You took in a few breaths before finally opening the door and entering the room. He had his head down on the table and was currently wearing an orange jumpsuit. It was a sight that obviously disturbed you, who in their right mind would want to see their ex-boyfriend in handcuffs while wearing an orange jumpsuit? Especially when there was a huge chance he didn’t commit this crime. When Mark heard the door close, he released a frustrated sigh as he began to grumble.
“I already told you guys, there’s no point in asking me any more questions, I told you everything. Now get out.” You frowned at his hostility before softly speaking up.
“I’m afraid I can’t do that.” The sound of your voice caused Mark to quickly sit up from his hunched over position. There was no way you were there in front of him, you hated his guts. He had to be dreaming. When he took a good look at you, his breath hitched. Has it really been three years since he’s last seen you? You only became even more beautiful with age if it was even possible. He opened his mouth to speak, but nothing was coming out. Images of your disappointed face pained him for years. You were all he thought about for the two years he was in jail and not once did he ever stop praying to get the chance to see you again.
“Y/n, what are you doing here?” You kept on a poker face, not wanting him to know his presence was affecting you and that you were on the verge of tears.
“I’ve been assigned to your murder case. Apparently my colleagues feel that I can get information out of you that they can’t, so today I’m criminal investigator y/n. I’m not going to let our affiliation with each other get in the way of solving this murder. Tell me everything.”
You couldn’t look at him without wanting to cry. He looked extremely handsome, there was no doubt about it. His hair was a darker shade of brown and it went a little past his ears. His face was smaller but his body was more broad. You weren’t going to lie, seeing him again after all these years only brought back some of the feelings you had for him but it was only natural. This man was a huge part of your life for six years and you were going to make sure if he was innocent, he wouldn’t be locked up for something he didn’t do.
“Well they weren’t wrong. I was actually going to ask to see you again, but I thought it would be selfish of me to ask you to help me out. And I know you hate my guts, so I was afraid you’d reject me if I were to ask. You don’t have to do this if you don’t want to you know. It’s no use. It doesn’t seem like anyone wants to listen to me.”
You frowned at how sad he sounded. You could see why no one was believing him. All the evidence that was found only led investigators to believing he committed the crime. If you didn’t know Mark personally, you would’ve thought so too.
“Well that’s why I’m here. I know you wouldn’t do such a thing. That’s not like you Mark. But then again, we’ve been apart for over three years. That’s enough time to change a person—“ by the way he was clenching his jaw and tightening his fists, you could tell he was getting upset and this is not the way you wanted things to go.
“I didn’t fucking do it y/n. I’m being set up. You have to believe me.” You let out a sarcastic chuckle.
“How am I supposed to believe you when the security cameras show that you were the last person leaving her room? Your cum stains were on her sheets Mark! How the fuck do you explain that? And when the fuck did you start hooking up with prostitutes? Now that you’re a ex-convict, you wanna keep up your reputation as this high and mighty bad boy?”
His eyes widened at the intonation of your voice. It only occurred to you then just how much it bothered you at the thought of Mark touching someone who wasn’t you. But you’ve had sex with Jaebum many times since the two of you began dating. Why were you allowing yourself to get jealous over the thought of Mark hooking up with other girls?
“I HAVEN’T TOUCHED OR LOOKED AT ANOTHER GIRL SINCE YOU BROKE UP WITH ME. You know how I feel about you and you know how much I love you. I’m still so fucking in love with you. Crazy isn’t it? Three years away from you and two years spent in the slammer and all I can ever think about is you. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to yell. I just don’t know how to prove my innocence. I can hardly remember that night in it’s entirety. A couple of my friends and I went over to a hotel party in that same hotel. It was a few floors up. One of the girls invited to the party was the one who was murdered. Only after I got taken in as a suspect did I find out she was a prostitute. She invited me back to her room but I refused to go. I knew what she wanted and I wasn’t going to go and have sex with her. Last thing I knew, she went back with one of my friends and some other guy I didn’t know.”
He released a frustrated grunt before continuing.“A couple hours later, the rest of my friends and I decided it was time to go, so they sent me to go retrieve our friend. Now, I’ll be honest with you, I was drunk off my ass when I went to the room. You can even see it in the fucking surveillance video. I’m not an investigator, but do you really think someone that wasted, someone with six shots of tequila and four bottles of beer in their system is fully capable of brutally murdering someone the way she was murdered? Now my semen, I have no fucking clue how that ended up in her bed but it wasn’t inside her was it? Exactly. There is no motive for me to kill her. She was shot in the head and stabbed in the chest ten times. The police searched my house and my car twice and found no weapon. I don’t own a gun nor do I own a fucking butcher knife that was apparently used to kill her. So if my semen is the only reason I’m cuffed up right now then no offense, but your team sucks ass. When I left her room that night, she was still alive. I left without my friend because he claimed he wasn’t done just yet. And if you look at the footage, I was there for a solid thirty seconds. I went in, told him we were leaving and left when he said he wasn’t ready to leave.’
The older boy brushed some hair out of his face and you swore your heart began beating quicker at the sight.“You guys should get a dummy and see how long it takes to stab it ten times. I’m sure thirty seconds isn’t enough time to stab her, shoot her and hide the weapons. Nor was I seen with any weapons when I left. And my clothes, there’s no blood. There’s no blood anywhere. You wanna know why? Because I didn’t fucking kill her. You guys are wasting your time talking to the wrong guy. The killer is probably on his way to Mexico in order to hide while you guys are on the verge of throwing an innocent man in jail. I just got out of jail five months ago and I hated every single day being kept in there, why the fuck would I do anything to go back there again? Especially something that would keep me there for the rest of my life like murder? If I were you y/n, I’d question my friend Randy and that other guy who was in the room with her.”
His whole confession made your head spin. Hearing him say he was still in love with you sent chills down your spine. You couldn’t even focus on anything else that he was saying but he did have a point. There wasn’t enough evidence for investigators to have him as a suspect. Hearing that he wasn’t the last one in the victim’s room made you wonder what happened to the hotel footage of the other two men that were with her that night? There was no seminal fluid inside of her, so what exactly was the motive to kill this poor girl?
You were now fully involved in this case and you wouldn’t be able to rest until Mark was found innocent and the real killers were arrested. You’d have to go back to the crime scene and look for any type of evidence there was while going to the hotel room and looking at all the footage. Then you’d have to find Randy and the other man who was in the room and see what they had to say. You took a look at Mark and began to tear up. It was obvious that you still cared for the man sitting in front of you by the way that you wanted to do everything in your power to prove his innocence.
“Y/n—“ you hummed in curiosity. “You’re even more beautiful than the last time I saw you. You were always the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen. Sorry, I just had to put it out there.”
Why was your heart rate increasing at his words? Mark just had that effect on you. Every time he would compliment you back when you were together, you’d always get so flustered and wouldn’t know how to control yourself. Not wanting to show that his words were making your heart flutter, you changed the subject.
“Mark, I know you didn’t kill her. But it’s going to take more than just my trust in you to claim your innocence. I’m going to do my best in finding out who did this but you’re going to have to be a little patient and trust me okay?” He quickly nodded in agreement.
“I trust you with my entire life. I always have and always will.”
Now that you got everything settled, you decided it was time to go home and get some rest. There was no way you were going to take the day off tomorrow. You were itching to head out to the hotel and look for anything and everything that proved Mark was not guilty of this murder.
“I’m going to go talk to the chief and get you out of here. They can’t keep you in jail if they aren’t 100% sure you’re the man we’re looking for. I don’t even know why they’re allowing it right now. I’ll be right back okay?”
Once you left the room, you made your way to your chief’s office and relayed to him everything that just went down. He was stunned. How did you get all that information in half an hour? You were magical. The two of you talked about your plans and he was upset hearing that you were planning on working tomorrow, but he knew that whenever you set your heart to something, there was no stopping you.
“I’m gonna go release him now—“ the grim look on your boss’s face made your heart sink.
“Y/n, I know you think he’s innocent, trust me I do too. Boy made a lot of good points. But are you sure we should be dropping the claims right now? You should go question the two other guys first. He could be an accomplice even if he wasn’t the one who murdered her—“ as much as you didn’t want to go against the chief, you knew in your gut that Mark was innocent. There was no point keeping him there when everything he said made sense.
“Chief, he just got out of jail less than a year ago. Why would he do something that would get him back in there permanently?” He gave you a knowing look before releasing an exhausted sigh.
“Fine. I trust your judgement and I know you know what you’re doing. Don’t let me down y/n.” You ran over to his side of the desk and pulled him in for a quick hug.
“Thank you! I’ll do my best chief! I promise!” Before you could leave, he softly called your name.
“Be careful y/n. Being around him again might just bring back memories of your past together and even your feelings for him. I know how much you loved him and I witnessed how broken you were when he got arrested the first time. Don’t do anything you’ll regret please. Jaebum is a great guy and it doesn’t take a genius to know that he really loves you.” His words were like a slap to the face. It was in that moment did you realize how quick you were to believe him and how you pretended like nothing was wrong between the two of you. You knew you still had feelings for Mark, but you were with Jaebum now and even if Mark was found not guilty, there was no way you could begin dating him again. Mark was in your past and you have every reason to want to keep him there.
You began to head back to where Mark was being held and asked the officer in charge to release him from his handcuffs. The smile that rose on his face as he began to stretch made your tummy fill with butterflies. Why was he having such a huge effect on you? You had a boyfriend who was currently waiting at home for you and probably worried about your physical and mental health. Before you knew it, you were being picked up and swung around by the older boy and you’d be lying if you said you didn’t miss being in his embrace. You’ve always felt so safe in Mark’s arms and you loved the feeling of them wrapped around you again. You absentmindedly hugged him back and placed your head in the crook of his neck.
“Thank you y/n. Thank you so much. Fuck, you’re so amazing.” You smiled up at him before pulling away.
“I’m going to warn you, even if they’re letting you go right now does not mean you’re completely off the hook just yet. Until they find out exactly what happened, you’re still a suspect. So don’t do anything stupid. No more hotel parties. In fact, don’t go out in public as much as possible and don’t be in contact with anybody until this case is over okay?” He nodded in agreement.
“Do you think I could maybe—would it be alright to get your number? Just in case I need to call you if I’m in trouble or if I get some information about the case?” You giggled at how flustered he was acting towards you before agreeing.
“Here, I’ll take you home. Are you still living with your parents or do you have a place of your own?” You were quick to notice the frown that now was on his handsome face at the mention of his parents.
“I haven’t seen or talked to my parents since my arrest. I’m sure they’re disappointed in me and hate the fact that their oldest son is a criminal. I’ve been living with Joey since I got out of jail. I can give you the directions to his place when we start heading out.” Although you were upset to hear that he hasn’t been in contact with his parents, you decided not to make matters worse by asking about it. The two of you began to walk out of your office until you remembered what he was wearing. You hesitantly reached for his hand and started to guide him back.
“I don’t think it’s safe for you to leave in these. No matter how good you look in orange.” His laughter engulfed the hallway and you didn’t realize just how much you missed his laugh until you heard it again. Mark’s laughter was your favorite sound. You were sure it could cure cancer by how adorable and high pitched it was.
“Are you hitting on me y/n?” He playfully wiggled his brows at you before giving you his award winning smile that would never fail in making you reciprocate the same expression. You remembered that Jaebum had left a few sweatpants and t-shirts in your locker for the nights where he ended up staying over and you handed them to Mark.
“This is a little too big for you don’t you think? Although I’m sure it looks really good on you. I always loved it whenever you’d wear my clothes.” You gave him a sad smile before shrugging.
“It’s actually my boyfriend’s. He leaves it here for whenever he works the graveyard shift.” Since you purposely turned the other way because you were afraid of his reaction to hear that you have a boyfriend, you failed to notice how quick his smile turned in to a scowl. Nor did you get to see the way his jaw clenched and fists tightened. The atmosphere soon became awkward and extremely quiet, causing you to pick at your fingers nervously. The sound that came from the back of his throat that sounded like a mix of a grunt and a growl sent shivers down your spine.
Back when the two of you were still dating, everyone and their mothers knew just how jealous Mark could be whenever it came to you. He couldn’t help himself, the boy was madly in love with you. Whenever he heard some guys talking about how beautiful you were or whenever he’d see one of his friends getting a little too close for comfort with you; Mark became barbaric but you loved it. You loved knowing how protective he was over you and how scared he was at the thought of losing you which is why you knew hearing that you were in a relationship would get under his skin. You don’t know if you mentioned the fact that you had a boyfriend to prevent him from trying to return things back to the way they used to be with you or because you were trying to remind yourself of the conversation you had with your chief just a few minutes ago.
You had a boyfriend. A boyfriend who helped fix your heart and broke down your walls after you built them up so high because of the man currently in front of you. A boyfriend who held you and rubbed your back as you cried on bathroom floor, throwing up all the bottles of wine you drank in less than an hour because of how much you wanted to take your mind off of missing Mark. A boyfriend who loved you and proved his love for you both verbally and physically on a daily basis. A boyfriend who went through hell and back to earn your trust, your love and to get you to smile again. Jaebum was sent in your life to save you from yourself and the mess you would’ve become if you continued to go down the path you were right after your break up.
“It’s fine, I wouldn’t want to intrude on his things. I would rather walk out in this fucking jumpsuit than to wear the clothes of a man who stole the love of my life—“ you turned to face him and Mark swore the look you were giving him could kill.
“Don’t you dare start with that shit. He took care of me when you fucking broke me. He was there for me every fucking day that I cried over you and your stupid mistake. I even tried to kill myself because I didn’t think there was any point of continuing my sad and pathetic life without you. I loved you Mark and what we had was amazing, but I’m with Jaebum now and I plan on staying with Jaebum for however long life allows it—“ you were so caught up in your rant that you failed to notice Mark walking towards you until his lips were on yours.
One hand made it down to your waist as the other went up to cup your cheek and you don’t know why, but you didn’t pull away no matter how much your mind was screaming at you to. You missed his kisses, his touch, his personality, the love he had for you, you missed him. But then Jaebum came in to your mind and before you could allow yourself to give in to temptation and deepen the kiss, you pulled away and shoved him off of you.
“Look at me in the eyes and tell me you don’t love me. I know you y/n, like the back of my hand. You may be with him, but he’ll never be me. No one will ever be able to replace me. Our love is unique, it’s a once in a lifetime thing. I know I fucked up, but I was trying to make a name for myself, I was trying to become a better person with the thought of finding you and making you proud. Then this shit had to happen and now you have a fucking boyfriend. That kiss, if you really loved your boyfriend and no longer held any feelings for me, you would’ve pushed me away the minute you felt my lips on yours. But you wanted it just as much as I did y/n. You don’t have to say anything, I can feel it and I want you to know that I’ll be waiting for when you decide that you want me back in your life.”
Your mind was all over the place. Did you really just kiss your ex-boyfriend? What was wrong with you? And why were you craving more? This was all too much for your mind to process in one day and you decided that it was time for you to go home. Not only did you meet with your ex-boyfriend who was being convicted of first degree murder and receive a bunch of information that could prove his innocence, but he admitted his feelings for you and kissed you all in the same day. You definitely needed some sleep.
“Is Joey’s number still the same? I’ll have him come pick you up.” He scoffed.
“Why? Because you might just give in and end up cheating on your boyfriend as I fuck your brains out in the back of your cop car?” You don’t know where all his confidence was coming from, but the longer you stayed with him the more dangerous it was for you and your relationship with Jaebum. Hell, you were interacting with an ex-convict and someone who was currently a suspect of murder. You could be jeopardizing your entire career by this conversation alone.
“Keep acting this way and I’m going to drop this case. Good luck finding someone whose going to be as passionate to prove your innocence. Like you said, no other officer or investigator seemed to give a shit about your testimony. So I’d be careful if I were you. You’re walking on thin ice Tuan. I agreed to help you with this case, not to reconcile with you and mend our broken relationship. Either you cut that shit out, or get ready to be sentenced to life in jail for a crime you didn’t commit just because your pride and ego is so big.”
You marched out of your office before he could respond and took out your phone to dial Joey’s number. It’s been years since you’ve spoken to any of the Tuan family members and it made your heart hurt. They were always so kind and welcoming to you. Sometimes you went over to their house without Mark just because you loved spending time with them. The Tuans were like your second family but ever since that night, you didn’t feel right keeping in touch with them considering you were no longer dating their son.
Surprisingly, the younger boy picked up after the first ring and told you that he was shocked to see your caller id. You apologized for bothering him and explained the whole situation to him as quickly as you could before Mark could find you and continue to pester you. Once you got off the phone with him, you made your way to your car and released a long, frustrated breath. You need to hurry up and solve this case before you ending up doing something you’d regret. Why were you allowing Mark to play mind games with you? He was your past, Jaebum was your present and hopefully your future.
After a few moments of trying to calm yourself down, you let Jaebum know that you were on the way home and began to drive away. Although your apartment was only twenty minutes away from the police department, your thoughts and your guilty conscience made the drive feel like hours. As soon as you pulled up in to your parking garage, you dragged yourself towards the elevators and slowly made the trek up to your apartment. With the tiny bit of energy you had left, you opened up the door and threw your things all around not caring where they flew.
The loud noise caused your boyfriend to quickly make his way out of the bedroom and into the living room. When his eyes landed on your exhausted frame, he didn’t hesitate to make his way over to you and pulled you in to his embrace.
“Are you okay baby? How did it go? Are you hungry? Should I make you something to eat? Baby, what’s wrong? Do I have to go kick his ass or something?” You didn’t even realize you were crying until you felt his fingers come up to your cheeks.
“I just want to go to sleep. We’ll talk about it in the morning.” He nodded in agreement as you tippy toed to place a long kiss on his lips. “I love you Jaebum.” Your boyfriend gave you a worried look, but he didn’t want to press you about the issue and picked you up bridal style before returning back to your room. “I love you too baby. Let’s get you changed and call it a night.”

Chapter 10: A Real Guilty Feeling
Hey everybody, here's chapter 10! But, unfortunately, it'll be the last chapter you see for a while. I need to take a break from writing for a while, do something else and recharge a bit. Maybe also knock out some drawings too while I'm at it.
Current timeline is looking like this: Couple of weeks without writing, and then maybe build up a bit of a buffer of chapters for Outside. But first, I'll be working on episode 2 of Happy Times at Handeemen HQ. Y'all are starting to show an interest in that, and I wanna put something new out for it.
If you want to keep updated, or even just see what I'm drawing, you can follow my art Tumblr here. Also check out my YouTube, in case of livestreams or speedpaints!(Am I plugging my own stuff too much?)
Whenever I'm ready to start posting again, I'll make sure to leave an announcement on here.
I'll see y'all later.
When Will got home, he dumped Stacy's stuff and scout on the couch. He then pointed out his locked workroom, and told her that she was never to go in there no matter what. That done, he left her to her own devices, and went off to bed. He took off his shirt and jeans, then crawled under the sheets. The last thing he did before passing out was shoot off a message to the group chat about how DnD Night was canceled until further notice.
When he woke up, far too few hours later, it was to a light weight on his chest. He stared at Scout for a moment, then picked her up and dropped her on the floor, rolling onto his front. He grabbed his phone, squinting at the too bright screen. Several messages were in the chat, and he sighed as he opened it up and scrolled to the top.
Masonary: um, excuse me?! i asked for that day off u can't cancel!!! somebody better be dead! D:<
Blooming_Stitches: Mason, shut up. We don't know what could be going on.
drWEED420: ugh, stacy. I told you to call me.
Masonary: y would stacy need to call u sam?
Masonary: is it because she hacked ur account and changed ur name again?
drWEED420 has changed their name to DrSamIAm
DrSamIAm: no but it is something we'll going to talk abaout.
Will_and_a_Way: Stace is in the hospital for infected surgery stitches
Blooming_Stitches: I'M SORRY WHAT
Masonry: dude i was joking about som1 being dead
DrSamIAm: goddamit stacy
DrSamIAm has left the chat We're ALL Idiots Here
Masonry: ok first of all what happened to stacy
Masonry: second who changed the chat name again?
Blooming_Stitches: lol
Will sighed, the went into his phone and pulled up his drop box, where he'd sneaked the file into a while ago. He hesitated briefly, then sent it to the chat. Stacy could be mad at him later, but he was too tired to think up a cover story for her right now.
Will_and_a_Way posted a file in We're ALL Idiots Here
Masonry: ?
Blooming_Stitches: !
Will_and_a_Way: read that if you guys want to know what happned.
Will_and_a_Way: I'm going back to sleep now try not to kill each other
He clicked his phone off, dropping it to his mattress and letting his head fall on his pillow. Within seconds he was back asleep, completely oblivious to Scout Jumping back on his bed and climbing onto his back. She curled around the small Kirby toy, using it as a pillow as she settled back into sleep herself.
()()()
When Will woke up again, it was to a light weight in the center of his back, right below his shoulder blades. He huffed, glaring at the wall. He took a deep breath, then heaved himself up with all his strength. As predicted, Scout was catapulted off, and he quickly got out of bed, heading to the kitchen.
He made himself some toast, checking his phone on the way. The group chat was mostly just full of the various reactions from Lisa and Mason. Sammy had come back at some point, going on a rant about what Stacy hadn't told him.
He read over the various comments as he ate, able to tell where they were in the document. Unsurprisingly, Mason finished it first, and Lisa was intent on meeting Scout. Sammy had told her Scout was nothing special, which Will privately agreed with. He finished the back reading and, seeing as nobody was online at the moment, locked his phone again. He picked up his toast and moved into his work room for the time being, deciding to get something done.
It was easy, really, for Will to get lost in his work. Dissecting the "toys" he brought home, taking them apart and recording it in his notes. He was currently working on the body of the head he'd been looking at last night. The brown, fuzzy thing was strapped securely onto the table, the front having been sawed apart and spread open.
He shifted through the innards, making careful, detailed notes about what was in there. He would compare them to the stolen blueprints later, figure out what was supposed to be in there and what wasn't. For now, though, the intention was to make a catalogue of parts.
When his phone alarm finally went off, signalling it was lunch time, he straightened up with a sigh. He pulled off his rubber gloves and, making sure the straps on the table were tight, went out to the kitchen. He made himself a simple sandwich, eating it in the kitchen as he glanced through the group chat. Mason and Lisa were on and currently discussing things, but Sam hadn't been on again since his rant.
He lurked a bit longer after he finished his sandwich, then got up to go back to work. On the way through the living room, he paused when he saw Scout sitting on the couch. She was curled up in the corner, Kirby plush on her lap as she stared at it. Even as a Puppet, he recognized the look on her face as one Stacy had often worn in the first year after her mother had died.
'Why the hell do I feel so bad for that thing?' He sighed, rubbing at his face. Making a snap decision, he went over to his DVD shelf and pulled out The Iron Giant. He turned on the TV and player, then loaded in the movie, skipping the previews. When he reached the main menu, he selected play and dropped the remote near Scout. He then left, heading back towards the basement and his work.
Scout watched go, staring silently after him as he once again disappeared behind the locked door. She didn't even try to follow him, instead settling in to watch the show he'd turned on. With any luck, it would be violent and/or funny enough to take her mind off of things.
()()()
'That is the saddest shit I have ever seen...' She sniffed, rubbing at her frustratingly dry eyes. 'I can't believe he let himself get blown up like that. What the fuck.' She rubbed at her eyes some more, then tried to figure out how to choose a different show. When she couldn't figure it out, she threw the remote down in frustration. 'Fuck it! Where's Will?'
She Jumped from the couch, heading over to the locked door. She peered in the crack between the door and the floor, but couldn't see anything. She could hear, however, and what she heard were power tools. The sound sent a shock through her system, dredging up unwanted memories of Riley's lab. She drew back, then jumped onto a nearby table when the noise stopped. Thinking quickly, she opened the drawer that was there and tried to pretend that she had been going through it.
Will came out of the room a minute later, wiping his hands with a dirty towel. He glared when he saw what she was "doing". "What the hell are you doing? Get out of there!" It wasn't quite yelling, but his voice was definitely louder than it needed to be. Scout suppressed her fear and scoffed.
"Fine. There wasn't anything but batteries in there anyways." She slammed the drawer closed, feeling a small, petty joy in how the contents rattled around when she did. She watched him cross to his bedroom and, when he'd closed his door, opened the drawer back up in order to snoop for real.
Batteries, keys, some weird plastic clips, and other odds and ends she didn't have words for had been organized neatly in the drawer. Working quickly, she shuffled everything around even more, then shoved a handful of what was sitting on the table into the drawer. She then closed it again and sat back as innocently as she could, tilting the shade of the lamp next to her. When Will came back out, now dressed in different clothes, he sighed and fixed the shade.
She watched as he gathered up a couple of things, then came over and grabbed up a set of keys she hadn't dumped into the drawer. There was a pause, or maybe more of a hesitation, and then he scooped her up and left the house, ignoring her protests.
"Hey! Hey lemme go! H-mmph?!" He easily covered her mouth with one hand as he locked the door. He made his way to his car, not letting her go into he'd climbed in and dumped her in the passenger seat. "What was that for?!"
"Okay, here's the deal." He told her, ignoring the question. "We're going to go see Stacy. To do that, we have to go through a whole hospital full of people. And you will be quiet and good the whole time, or you will be going out the nearest window."
"We're going to go see Stacy..." That was the one thing she had really comprehended. Her Host was alive, Scout knew she had to be. If she wasn't, then the Puppet wouldn't have long to-
It didn't matter. She didn't matter, not after what almost happened. Not after what she almost did, accidentally or not.
She was jolted out of her thoughts as Will started the car, realizing belatedly that he'd continued talking to her. She hoped he hadn't noticed she wasn't paying attention. Whatever he'd been doing behind that door, she did not want to become his next patient.
In the silence of the car ride, Scout easily lost herself in the thoughts swirling through her head. The most prominent were thoughts of guilt, knowing she was to blame for this and wondering where she had gone wrong. Maybe she hadn't tried as hard as she should've to subjugate her Host back in the Studio? Or maybe she shouldn't have stayed with her after they escaped. Maybe she should have left after making sure Stacy was okay.
'Maybe I should leave anyways.'
She missed it when Will parked, only noticing when he picked her up. She let herself stay limp, though not so much out of compliance than a desire to try and keep working on the plan that had come to mind.
Vaguely, she was aware of the clean white halls Will was taking her through, as well as a nauseating smell that reminded her of Riley. A few other unclaimed Hosts like Will, though wearing clothing that, again, reminded Scout of Riley. She watched those ones carefully, just in case. She may not like Will, but Stacy did and she didn't want something to happen to him.
Will came up to a door, opening it and peeking inside. Scout tried to look, but could only see the very end of a weird looking bed. Whatever he saw he seemed to like, as he fully entered the room, kicking the door closed behind him and approaching the bed.
"Hey Stacy." He began quietly, and Scout felt her stuffing go cold at the sight of her Host in the bed. Her normally warm brown skin was several shades paler, and there were dark circles under her eyes. She was mostly upright, though leaning heavily against the pillows behind her. The scariest thing, though, were the several tubes connecting her to various machines by the bed.
Scout felt another cold rush of guilt when she saw how Stacy's eyes lit up when she spotted them. She waited for her to say something, anything, but the Host didn't speak, instead lifting her hands to use that weird hand language.
"She can't talk right now." Will translated. "She had to be intubated and her throat still hurts. But, for some reason, she's happy to see you." He sounded annoyed by that, and Scout couldn't help but be confused. Surely Stacy knew about what she did.
'Unless she doesn't.' The Puppet realized. 'She doesn't know shit about how it works. She had no idea what I almost did to her.' Somehow, that didn't make it any better.
Against her will, she was handed over to Stacy so Will could go set down the bags. Stacy hugged her tight, and Scout couldn't help but curl up in her hold, clutching at the weird shirt she was wearing.
She ignored the humans as they talked, or rather as Will talked and Stacy did one handed signing. Instead she stared at the tubing connected to Stacy's arm, watching the clear liquid slowly drip it's way into her body. She didn't know how long she stared for, but she must've dozed off at one point because she suddenly became aware of her hair being stroked.
It couldn't have been too long, as the room was still bright, though she couldn't hear Will anymore. Instead there was a quiet, steady beeping that matched up with Stacy's heartbeat. It was relaxing, and brought up memories of when Scout had first woken up, all those years ago. Before she'd been made to take part in Riley's "tests", or found that TV. Even before she'd met her siblings and learned who and what she really was. Those first few moments when it had just been her and Daisy, enjoying the gift of life.
She almost wished she could go back to that point. Things were so much better back then, when her world consisted of Daisy's sewing room and her siblings. When she didn't have a Host to worry about accidentally killing, or her own people coming after her.
But she wouldn't have to worry about that for long. If her plan ended up working, Stacy wouldn't be in danger ever again.

Ok so I have an assignment due in on Thursday for uni and I’ve barely started it!! I know you have graduated from university so I was wondering if you had any tips to motivate yourself to get the work done!!
hey lovely!!! oh god, i used to be so terrible for leaving every assignment till last minute, but when it came to my dissertation i finally got the hang of it! i’m not sure if these will help or not but here are a few tips i can think of:
- if you can, head to the university library! i used to find being at home waaay to distracting and it was so easy to put the work off there. the library is a great place to just feel motivated - like even stepping into the library you feel like you’ve done so much work, lmao! if you can’t get to the library, i’d suggest alternatively going to a coffee shop! i spent soooo many afternoons in costa and starbucks! most chain cafes have free wifi, plenty of room to work, plugs and don’t mind you spreading your work all over the table as long as you ave a drink ectc on your table!!!
- if you’re someone who works well with background noise, spend an hour or so creating a playlist before you get to work. pick songs that won’t distract you but will calm you. label the playlist work or x essay and only listen to it when working!!! here’s a couple of spotify playlists you can take inspiration from: revision ballards / essay writing / coffee shop
- this one might seem obvious but turn your phone/wifi/notifications off. just turn them off, even if you haven’t started working yet. you’ll get bored soon enough that’ll you be wanting to work!
- if possible, read/watch something fun relating to your assignment topic! have a search on youtube, watch a film, read some journals! once i watched a whole series of teen mom before i started writing my essay on teen pregnancy! i wouldn’t suggest watching a whole series in the time you have left buuuut finding some joy in your topic will motivate you a hell of a lot!
- try not to stress!!! i know its easier said than done, but stressing and thinking about the time you have left will only prolong the process. take breaks, have a bath, go on a walk, watch an episode of your favourite show, read fic - anything! just don’t over-do it, no matter what time limit you’re on! give your mind time to clear - be mindful!
- break! it! down! start with the basics. write a plan, hand-write a plan - handwriting the basics always helped me, making spider-diagrams and posters or little flash-cards! having it on paper before you, all made sense of, will help your essay writing flow once you’ve got started. then highlight your subtitles, mark out bullet-points of what is going in which paragraph etc. having a structure is key!
- wake up early and make a start. it’s much, much harder to start working when half of the day has already passed. it just doesn’t feel right, does it? and when you leave it so long into the day you’ll just keep putting it off further and further. and of course, get an early night! you can’t wake up early and work if you don’t go to sleep early. we need to recharge and being tired is definitely a motivator to keep procrastinating.
i hope this helps even a little bit! best of luck to you

let’s talk about sonny in 19.15
going to get back to asks/prompts tomorrow, but I’m super tired all of a sudden. to tide y’all over I thought I’d share this mini fic I wrote last night based on the events of 19.15 //
FINALLY watched this week’s episode & I have some Thoughts™ re Sonny x reader:
-you know something is seriously wrong when Sonny shows up at your apartment late on Wednesday with a tense, distraught look on his face & none of the characteristic peppy energy.
-‘can I come in?’ is the first thing he says when you open the door, with a harshness in his voice you’ve never heard aimed in your direction before
-you nod, already gesturing him in because aside from the body language & the tone he’s never hesitated to come in before. ‘sonny, of course. come in. is everything okay? it’s 11pm.’
-you shut & lock the door behind him, assuming he’s spending the night. he’s shaking his head no, hands roughly running through his hair as he begins to pace
-‘no, it’s not. I found out today that my niece was raped. three months ago. the school had some, some kinda tribunal or whatever the hell and found him guilty today. but the scumbag is only suspended for a year. suspended!’
-you’re completely shocked by the news & go to make your way over to him before he cuts you off with a flung out hand. ‘and the best part? my sister is just now telling me. today! months after the fact! I don’t know what the hell she was thinking keeping this from me! I’m going to kill this guy-suspended?! he deserves to go to prison!’ he continues, gesturing largely with his hands as he loosens his tie.
-‘I’m so sorry, sonny. I’m so sorry. this isn’t your fault, not at all babe. sonny, come on. let’s get you out of this suit. let’s get some food in you, okay? we can sit & talk some more. I’ll call out of work tomorrow if I need to, alright? I’m going to make you some tea. come here, let me—‘ ‘I don’t want any tea, (y/n)! I don’t wanna-I don’t wanna eat thai food & pretend like this is okay & just—just-listen. I’m thinking rationally, alright? you don’t need to try to talk me off the ledge like I’m some kinda loose cannon, ‘ he interrupts.
-you make your way over to him, despite how tightly wound he is & how his gestures get more agitated as he speaks.’hey, hey-hey! I’m on your side, sonny. I’m on your team. I’m here for you. you came to me tonight. you came here & I just want to-‘ ‘maybe I shouldn’t have come. I can go back to my apartment. I’m upsetting you. I apologize,’ he interrupts again, going to brush by you to leave.
-‘stop, dominick,’ you grab his arm before he can take two steps, ‘I want you here. I’m glad you came here,’ you say, tugging at his arm to force him to look at you. ‘but you didn’t come here to self-destruct-you would have gone home alone if you wanted to do that. you came here because you trust me, & I trust you, and you know I’m going to look after you.’ ‘I can take care of myself. it was wrong of me to come here when I’m as angry as I am,’ he replies firmly.
-‘if you want to walk out of that door you can. I won’t stop you again. but if you want to stay, you can. I’m not afraid of your anger, but I am afraid of you being alone right now and I’d like you to stay. please,’ you beseech him.
-he studies your face & must see something in his eyes because all of a sudden the fire that was brimming over goes right out. his body goes limp & he brings a hand up to his face, dropping your gaze. you go to him and he wraps his arms around you. with his mouth muffled against the side of your head he murmurs, ‘I’m sorry. I don’t know what to do. I’m so—angry. I feel so helpless. I feel like I let my family down. I didn’t know where else to go.’
-‘you can always come here, sonny. always. will you sit down for me?’ you ask. he nods & you lead him to the couch. he begins to loosen his tie with one hand, the other arm still around you, before you gently knock his fingers away from his neck. ‘I got this. you just sit there, amore mio.* hmm? I got you,’ you murmur as you continue to loosen it. he takes his gun & badge off and sets them on the coffee table. shoes are absentmindedly toed off. you unbutton his vest next, shifting to give him room to shrug off the jacket before shedding the layer underneath.
-he leans back again with a strong exhale, the hand not around you is tapping erratically on his knee. he won’t hold eye contact with you, but his grip around your waist is firm.
-‘I just feel like I gotta do something, y’know? like I’m just wasting time sitting here not doing a single thing,’ he slashes the air with his other hand, voice lower but still full of pain. you reach a hand out to turn his face so that he looks at you instead of across the room. ‘you’re doing something right now. you believe her. you support her. you’re advocating for her. and now you’re going to recharge & rest so that when you go back to work you can be helpful, not rundown. you’re going to let me take care of you and you’re going to take a shower and you’re going to sleep right next to me and know that I believe you. I support you. I know you’ll figure out what to do because you’re a smart man & you’re exactly the detective I would want on my case if I was in that position.’
-‘please, don’t even put that image in my head. not if you want me to come down off the ceiling sometime tonight. I’m going to take a shower,’ he goes to stand, turning to look back at you still sitting on the couch. his face softens, ‘that offer for tea still stand? I’ll make the shower quick & meet you in bed?’
-you quirk up the corner of your lips slightly & nod. ‘I’ll meet you in bed, detective.’
-you sit a little longer as he heads to the bathroom. it’s only after you hear the water running for a couple of moments that you go to make tea for you both.
-he comes out of the shower in boxer briefs, still damp around the ears with hair all over his head. he crawls into the bed in the side closest to the door. you’re reading & glance up quickly before finishing your sentence & placing the bookmark in its place on the page you were reading, ‘made you the bedtime tea,’ you tell him as you stretch to put your book on the nightstand and grab your own tea.
-you turn back to him & he’s looking at you intensely. he gently takes your mug from your hands & places it on the bedside table next to him, not even needing to turn to know exactly where it was without spilling tea. ‘doll, I’m sorry. I’m really sorry. I didn’t even greet you or ask how your day was or if I was interrupting your evening. you just let me come in & I acted like an asshole. I did this wrong,’ he tells you, cupping your face in one of his hands. he tucks hair behind your ear while studying your face.
-‘you don’t need to apologize, sonny. I know how much you love your family. I can only imagine how upset you feel. I don’t expect you to be perfect, I’m here for you,’ you reply. ‘yeah, I love my family. but I love you, too and you don’t deserve how I came in here. thank you for being here for me, it means the world,’ he murmurs, leaning in to kiss you. one of your hands reaches up to grasp his forearm as you kiss him back. ‘cuore mio,’ ** you murmur, ‘Sei l’uomo dei miei sogni.’
-‘fuck, you know how much it kills me to hear you speak in Italian,’ he manages to get out between kisses. ‘well I mean it. in Italian & English. you’re the love of my life. my heart. my sunshine. hmm? I’ve got you, I’ve got y-‘ he cuts you off with more kisses, deepening the kiss as he draws you down into the bed with him over you. ‘you’re mine. Mi hai cambiato la vita.*** I promise I’ll always keep you safe. I promise. Ti voglio sempre al mio fianco,’ ****he insists. ‘I’m not going anywhere, Dominick. I’m right here. I’m safe. come on, let’s drink some tea. you need to get some rest.’
-he reluctantly rolls off of you & sits up. handing you back your tea and wrapping you up in one arm, holding you tightly against his chest. he grabs his tea once your hands are securely around your own cup. he nuzzles into your temple, alternating between pressing kisses to it in between sips of tea. he begins to tell you some stories of mia when she was a baby as he calms down even more.
-he finishes his tea & sets the mug down again before saying, ‘I’m going to get this guy, (y/n). I have to.’ ‘I believe you. but at the end of the day, no matter what happens, this is not your fault. you’re a great uncle, an incredible brother & a wonderful boyfriend,’ you reply quietly. he lets a beat go by, ‘yeah. I guess.’ another beat, ‘I don’t know how long this investigation is going to last or what state of mind I’ll be in, & I’ll understand if you say ‘no’ so there’s no pressure, doll. none whatsoever. but if you wouldn’t mind, I’d like to be able to come back here everyday. just while this investigation is going on-I swear I’m not trying to move in. I’d be much smoother about that-I /will/ be one day. I just, I need to not be alone with my thoughts at the end of the night.’
-you turn your head slightly so you can look up at him again. he looks a little nervous & you lean up to kiss the side of his chin. ‘you can stay here as long as you need to. I’ll even give you my spare keys.’
-he exhales loudly, closing his eyes briefly in relief. ‘thank you, doll’ he says as he gently tilts your chin up for a kiss. ‘let’s go to sleep. I know you’ve got work tomorrow-or rather later on today. don’t want to keep you up any longer.’
-you both shift slightly, turning the lamps out on your respective sides. you lay your head on his chest as he wraps his arm back around you. his hand traces patterns on your back. ‘close your eyes, babe. let your brain rest for a couple of hours, hmm? let me recite some poetry to you until you fall asleep,’ you tell him, sensing that his eyes were still open. he hums in response & relaxes slightly.
-you close your eyes before beginning in a steady, quiet voice, ‘
--🌸
*my love
**my heart // you’re the man of my dreams
***You changed my life
****I want you always by my side
****If there is a chaste love, a heavenly pity, an equal fortune between two lovers, a bitter fate shared by both, and if a single spirit and one will governs two hearts; if one soul in two bodies is made eternal, raising both to heaven on the same wings; if love with one blow and one golden arrow can burn and pierce two hearts to the core; if each loves the other rather than himself, with a pleasure and delight so rewarding, that to the same end they both strive; if thousands upon thousands are not worth a hundredth part of such a loving bond of such a faith; then shall anger alone break and dissolve it?

Episode 15
Scene 2:
[Finally Ren and her pokemon head up to face Winona. Māia perches on her shoulder as a large open elevator whisks them up to the leader arena. Wally and Kai are sitting together in the small stands with their pokemon, grinning from ear to ear. They give her the thumbs up as she and her team step out of the elevator. Winona stands opposite her on a platform with what are clearly some of her top tier pokemon sitting in the branches behind her. Ren looks over an alteria, honchkrow, braviary, skarmory, pidgeot, pelipper, decidueye, talonflame and three swellows, one of which is a shiny.]
Ren: [muttering to Māia] I don’t know how I let you talk me into this.
Māia: This is perfect!
Winona: Greetings, challenger. You have quite a well-rounded team. Do you think they are ready to earn their sixth badge?
Ren: Yes, but I don’t intend to fight with them today. My taillow has requested to face you and your pokemon without the aid of her teammates.
Winona: [eyes narrowing] You may challenge me as you choose. When your taillow is unable to battle, you may send out your next pokemon or forfeit at your own discretion. I will be limited to four pokemon for this battle.
[Winona whistles and her striped swellow swoops down onto the field. Māia glides down to face her.]
Winona: Aerial ace!
Ren: Air slash!
[Māia slashes her wing, sending a blade of wind at the swellow as she launches into the air. The swellow takes the hit and lands one of her own as she shoots past, bowling Māia over. Māia pops back to her feet as the swellow whirls around.]
Ren: Fly!
[Māia crouches before rocketing upwards just ahead of the swellow's talons. The swellow banks the turn and starts climbing, but Māia is already well above her. She arrows down and strikes the swellow across the back. She wobbles but keeps flying as Māia angles away.]
Winona: You have the weight on her, Slipstream. Bring her down!
Ren: Not for long! Steel wing, Māia!
[Māia's wings gleam silver as she banks to face her oncoming opponent. They meet each other in the air and it is the swellow who is knocked aside and goes tumbling.]
Ren: Got her! Great job, Māia!
[Winona withdraws her swellow and her pelipper swoops into the ring. Meanwhile, the rest of Ren’s team watches from the sidelines.]
Naihi: Though it is happening right in front of me, I still find it difficult to comprehend that she would face the gym leader with nothing but a taillow. And after what she said to Tāraki… [She trails off, shaking her head.] I guess I still have much to learn about our trainer.
Kata: She's one hell of a strong human. You all didn't see her after Wheta died. She's come so far.
Ao: She battles for us as much as she does for herself, maybe more so. In this instance, she let Māia's wishes take precedence.
[Māia nails the pelipper with an air slash, but it is larger and more resilient than the swellow and counters with brine.]
Kata: So, my good Lady Disaster, may I ask why you want to be in a gym battle so badly? [She shoots a cautious glance at Akahata who just rolls her eyes.] I mean, you're a wild right? What do you care about gyms and badges?
Naihi: My mentor told me of them.
Kata: You mean your gallade sensei who lived on a mountaintop, right?
Naihi: Yes.
Kata: [trying not to laugh] Just checking. Continue.
Naihi: He told me about the badges he and his trainer won and what they signify. Gyms are a proving ground for pokemon and their trainers. A true way to test their strength and compatibility. I want our trainer to know that she can rely on me. See how strong I am in a real battle. Not just practice.
Ao: You don't have to worry. Ren knows that.
Pohaku: Yeah, I'm the only one you lose to when we spar and that's cuz of my armor and stuff. Everyone has one type they can't beat.
Naihi: You all have been with her much longer than I. And anyway, isn't that why our teammate is up there now? To prove her strength?
Ao: I suppose that's true.
Naihi: You all have earned you place on this team, but I've yet to earn mine.
[They are all quiet for a moment as they watch Māia narrowly avoids another brine attack with a barrel roll.]
Naihi: Akahata, you have been with Ren the longest. You must have taken part in many gym battles.
Akahata: Only one. It was against Flannery, a fire-type trainer.
Naihi: Oh, that surprises me. Still, it must have been some battle. Would you mind telling me what it was like?
Akahata: I went up against a torkoal. The gym is famous for them. They all possess a very powerful fire move that few can withstand. Our strategy was for me to use dig to avoid this attack and the type advantage to take it down. But their shells are thick and their defense is high. I got in two attacks but couldn't take it down before it was able to use overheat on me. I was overwhelmed by the attack and Ao had to take my place. She was fast enough to avoid it and her special attacks were more effective against it's defenses. She won us the battle.
Naihi: Well, what's important is that you played your part in the team and weakened it. Congratulations on your victory, Ao. Was that your first gym battle?
Ao: First and last so far. I was pretty new to the team at the time.
Naihi: My then, I must admit to being even more impressed.
Ao: Thank you.
Kata: WHOO! Nice one Māia!
Pohaku: Yeah! Knock ‘em dead!
Ao: You've got her on the ropes now!
[The others don't seem to notice Akahata looking down, face tight and shoulders slumped, but Naihi shoots her a glance and smiles to herself. Meanwhile Māia lands the finishing blow on the pelipper and it falls. Winona withdraws it and nods to her skarmory. He takes to the air after Māia in a metallic flutter of wings. The two combatants circle clockwise around the ring.]
Winona: Steel wing, Halberd!
Ren: Parry with steel wing!
[The two birds charge each other, wings gleaming. Māia hits him near the shoulder and is knocked aside by his superior size and weight. She tumbles through the air but rights herself before he can bank the turn. However he now has the momentum while she is fluttering. He goes straight for her, a predatory glint in his eyes.]
Ren: Boomburst!
[Māia fires off a boomburst right at the skarmory's head. He makes no attempt to evade and the sound wave hits him dead on. He powers through the blow with smug confidence and keeps coming. Māia has never seen her move do so little damage before and only just manages to dive beneath him as he aims a steel wing at her. Māia glances nervously at Ren as both birds sweep around the turn.]
Ren: Just keep hammering him, Māia! You've got more boombursts in you than he can take!
[He banks into the next turn and she climbs, trying to gain some altitude.]
Winona: Metal claw!
[He comes at her, claws raised and glowing and she swoops forward to meet him in response.]
Ren: Roll!
[Just as they are about to meet in the air, Māia rolls to the side and let's out a boomburst. She hits him in the wing and he rolls in the air as the wing is flung over his back by the impact.]
Winona: Pin her down! Aerial ace!
[The skarmory rights himself and pumps his wings, climbing rapidly. Māia climbs too but he is quickly gaining on her.]
Ren: Drop turn!
Winona: Got her!
[Māia swoops sharply upward, folds her wings and plummets straight at the waiting skarmory. He is about to nail her with his glowing beak.]
Ren: Now!
[Māia lets out another boomburst at point blank range. The skarmory is knocked aside, but she cannot evade his wing and takes a glancing blow as they pass. She recovers quickly. But the skarmory remains disoriented, flight erratic for several seconds.]
Ren: Great job, Māia! Get some distance!
Winona: We've got the remedy for that! Air cutter!
[The skarmory launches blades of air at Māia who dodges by swooping and dipping and changing directions on a dime. Eventually the skarmory must recharge and he returns to gliding clockwise around the edge of the arena. Māia stays opposite him, waiting for the final confrontation. They are both drained and the next hit is likely to be the last. The skarmory caws out a challenge and angles for the center of the arena towards Māia. Māia flies to meet him.]
Winona: Air cutter!
[The skarmory waits until they are fairly close to unleash his attack, but Māia still dodges, tilting her wings between the strikes as she rolls.]
Ren: Now!
[Māia let's out a boomburst just as she passes him. The force pushes them apart and while she sweeps cleanly away, he rolls, crumples, and plummets towards the ground. Winona withdraws him just before he hits. Māia alights on the ground in front of her trainer.]
Winona: Impressive. Your taillow is looking drained. Will you withdraw her?
[Māia is panting, but she looks back at Ren half pleading, half daring. Ren wavers for a second, then nods to her pokemon.]
Ren: No.
Winona: Very well.
[She nods to her altaria and it glides to the ground in front of her. The giant bird beats its dragon-like wings, clouds shifting to cover them. Māia half furls her wings, wrists pointed forward like arrows, ready for any command. Ren can see her heaving, controlling the trembling in her tired muscles while the fresh altaria looks a little bored if anything. The only way to end this is quickly.]
Winona: Dragon breath!
[Māia looks back at her trainer and their eyes lock once more.]
Ren: Brave bird!
[The altaria flaps it's wings to take off while Māia glows brightly, bracing herself. The altaria swoops across the ring towards her and Māia goes off like a shot to meet her, a shining streak in the air. The altaria pulls her neck back in preparation and opens her beak. Blue flames shoot out at Māia, but the taillow plows through them and right into the altaria's gut. The altaria crumples comically around the tiny missile, flames guttering out with a wheeze as it is fired back across the ring at its trainer. The two birds crash to the ground and skid to a stop in front of Winona. The altaria lands on it's back with Māia sprawled on it's chest. The altaria's wing twitches, but it makes no attempt to rise. Māia opens her eyes and picks herself up. She wobbles for a moment before taking a deep breath and standing tall and proud on her fallen foe. She spreads her wings and calls out a challenge. The branches around the arena erupt with sound as all of the flying-types call out in answer. Winona looks around in wonder. Māia cries once more and the chorus answers, quickly building to a crescendo before tapering off slowly. Māia folds her wings and looks up at Winona. Winona bows her head. Māia nods and takes off, flying back to Ren's waiting arm.]
Ren: You did it, Māia! You really are the strongest bird in Hoenn!
Māia: I don't know about that. Maybe it's time I admitted I'm not. Those weren't her strongest after all. That was a sixth badge team.
Ren: Yeah, that you beat all by yourself!
Māia: I'm not saying I'm not awesome, just that I'm not the best yet. But now I know I can be.
Ren: [smiling] Alright.
[Winona makes her way over to them, her shiny swellow on her shoulder.]
Winona: That was an incredible battle. I've never had another quite like it. I'm sorry that I doubted your intentions. She's a remarkable battler and you are a wonderful trainer. Please, Māia the taillow, accept my humblest apologies.
[She and her swellow bow their heads. Māia dips hers back.]
Māia: Thank you for letting me battle anyway. I learned a lot.
[Ren conveys this message to Winona.]
Winona: A decision that benefited me more than her, I think. I profess to believe in the potential of all bird pokemon, and yet I doubted her. I am grateful to be so humbled. It's been an honor.
[She hands over the Feather Badge with a wistful smile and turns away. Ren looks down at her badge, then clenches her fist around it.]
Ren: Hey Māia, would you like to stay here and train with Winona?
[Māia looks up at her in confusion.]
Ren: Well, you're right. You can get stronger. You can be the best there is. And Winona is a flying-type specialist, the best in the region, maybe even the world. Maybe staying here is the best way to reach your goal. With me there are going to be a lot of detours and down time. You won't even have a flying-type training partner after Panahi leaves. Here you could train with other flying-types all the time.
Māia: But I owe you so much. You could be facing Magma again any day now. I don’t want to leave you. It wouldn’t be right after all you’ve done for me.
Ren: Are you kidding me? Do you have any idea how many times you’ve saved my ass? Saved all of our asses? You don’t owe me a thing, Māia. And that can’t be the reason you make this decision. We should all be working towards our own goals, whether that's together or apart. I’ll miss you too, but I’ll still have everyone else. I’ll be okay. And besides, it wouldn't be goodbye forever. I could call you on the nav. I'll come and visit you just like the others. And if you decided that you wanted to challenge the Elite Four with me, I'd come and get you. You'll always be my pokemon no matter what you choose.
[They look into each other's eyes for a few moments. Māia takes a deep breath and puffs out her chest.]
Māia: Okay. I'll do it.
[Ren raises her arm and Māia nuzzles Ren's nose with her beak and hugs Ren's cheeks with her wings. They break apart and Ren takes a deep breath.]
Ren: Winona. [She turns.] Māia would like to train with you.

SoulCrash - Chapter 6 - New life, new friends
Just like the last time I was teleported, I slowly started to regain my consciousness, opening my eyes slowly, sitting up from the bed in which I was now laying down, while turning my head from side to side, trying to see the room in which I was in... my room... I got up quickly and started to analyze the room. The bed, the window, the drawer, the carpet. They were all the same, and in the same spot. I went paranoid for a while until I noticed something, everything was fine at the outside, but what about the inside? I went to my closet and opened it, which was when I saw it, just as I opened it, the clothes were still creating themselves. They were being created in front of my eyes. The room was slowly replicating itself in front of me. I wasn’t at my house. I looked towards the place where the door would be, the door was slowly transforming from it’s original form, a mechanical slide door, to a more standard knob door. I was back at that god forsaken base...
I went towards the window. There were only clouds, as far as the eye could see. I tried to punch the wall out of frustration, only to get hurt in the process... I didn’t get to fully say goodbye. I was now in this, whether I liked it or not... I needed to not forget why I was here, I just need to search for James, and that would be all...
My room finished preparing itself. As soon as it finished, I heard the door swinging open -I see you’re finally awake sleepyhead- Said Martel, as she started to enter my room. -I must admit, your father was a more skilled hunter than what I thought, he actually managed to grab me- -So you’re not going to have the decency to let me say goodbye, eh? I guess I’m in for a hell of a ride- I said this as I turned around, hiding how I was feeling with the same cocky smile I inherited from my father. I then slowly started walking towards her -So, tell me, you said generation when I was on trial for this shit, so I am guessing I’m not the only one in it- -So, you have a keen memory? Should’ve guessed from a hunter’s son. But, yes, you are right, there are 3 more members for this team, all of which have been chosen for this new generation, in fact, that’s why I came to your room- -What do you mean?- -Well, since the team is finally complete, today we you shall be having your first meeting, in which you’ll all present yourselves- She said this in a playful tone, bending over a bit with a smile on her face -Of course, this is supposed to be a serious team, but, a childish meeting like this should be good enough to get all of you started- I tilted my head in confusion, but just shook it off. She acted way to childish for the age she was supposed to be, but, it did not matter -Well, I guess you might have your reasons. Well, I guess it should be easy- I started to walk out of the room slowly, placing my hands on my pants’s pockets -That’s great. The meeting room is to the right after getting out. Good luck... since you’ll be the last one to get there-
I laughed the last comment off and continued to walk towards the meeting room, looking at my right wrist. The bracelet was still there, and it still felt like it was sucking on blood, but now the flow felt much slower. I checked the screen on it
ENERGY: 86%
It seemed to always be recharging until the moment it was completely charged. I did feel weak due to it, but it wasn’t as bad as many other experiences I had gone through, but it was slightly noticeable. I got to a door at the end of the hallway and proceed to enter it.
The room was filled with screens, showing a wide view of a coast, riding all around the room. In the middle, there was a circular couch, with a gigantic globe of the Earth in the middle of it. By one indentation on the wall, there was a pad on the floor, which didn’t seem to serve any use at the moment. On the couches, three persons were sitting down, a young girl of around my age, a kid which seemed to be much younger that both of us, and one more person, covered completely in a suit of armor, not even showing his face to the rest of us.
-It’s about time you showed up- This was said by the kid, turning his head towards me after he heard the door open -We were wondering when our final member would be joining us- He said all this with a sarcastic tone as they all started to stand up, excluding the one in the armor. -Well, I certainly didn’t expect anyone to be such earlybirds- I said this in a joking tone as I jumped into the couch, sitting in a free space between the girl and the guy in armor -Well, we certainly didn’t expect our last teammate to be a homesick- This was said by the girl with a serious tone on her voice. -Oh come on guys, it’s not a big deal, it’s not like many things happened while I was gone- -...- The man in the armor just stayed silent -Okay, guys, let’s calm down and just do what Martel asked us to do. In fact, I’ll start. My name, is Colin Striker, I’m 17 years old- I said this while lifting my arms up in calm tone, trying to calm everyone down -Fine. My name is Ness Roels, I’m also 17 years old- This was said by the kid, which surprised me at the time. He then proceeded to hit my head quickly -And do not think that we’re done with this talk- -Martha Skyward. 17- This was said by the girl, who had now turned around and sat back down at her spot -Mark- Those were the first words I heard from the man in the suit of armor. No mention of his last name, or even an age -Oh, now the hunk of junk decides to talk. Man, two worthless members that have spilled their beans- This was said again by Ness, who had, along with Martha, sat back down on his chair -Dude, for fucks sake, come on, we just met, there’s no need to be an asshole about it- I said this with an annoyed tone as I walked right in front of him -Oh, and what are you going to do about it?- He said this with a cocky tone as he looked up at me, smiling. I immediately grabbed his head, lifting him off the couch -You sure are annoying for a tiny piece of shit- I proceeded to throw him against one of the monitors. He slowly began to stand up, the monitor being intact behind him -And you certainly are a loudmouth for a homesick piece of shit- He then quickly launched a knife in my general direction, which I proceeded to block quickly -Man, you simply won’t give up your smartass, now will you?- I quickly summoned my buster with the bracelet and started to walk towards him -And it seems like we got a fight within five minutes of you meeting- This was said by a female voice, Martel’s voice, as she freezed both of us in place -Man, I simply cannot leave any of you even for a simple meet up- She then grabbed both me and Ness and set us back on the couch-Now guys, you need to learn that you’ll be having to work together. I do not know for how long, and I do not know how much. But you need to understand this so we do not have any problems in the future- Martha nodded at this, I tried to nod, but was frozen in place, Mark stayed silent, and Ness just stayed completely still -Good, see? That was much better...- She said this with a smile, and then, after unfreezing both me and Ness, she lifted her arms up to the ceiling, saying -Now, the show can start.
End of the Beginning. END OF CHAPTER 6
(Oh god, I’m writing this at 2 fucking am since I’m going to my dad’s house to watch the Super Bowl. I don’t want to have to write it at his house, since I do want to spend most of my time with him, but it all depends on how tired I get, or how much I write, or for how long I might be awake. I ended up staying up until 5 am. This is the first time I stayed up this late. And I personally found this to be my favorite chapter up until now. I hope you enjoyed it. This took some Fairy Tail Episodes and Malcolm episodes, but it was worth it)
