The way Wanderer & Nahida function on teyvat’s hypothetical social media to me is Nahida has like a public figure verified account as the Dendro Archon right and she posts either formal sumeru news announcements, or very earnest personal positivity posts split between telling ppl to practice self care and drink water :) or excitedly sharing cool fun facts about plants/hyper specific research niches she finds interesting. A majority of these posts are often rather confusing because she either employs her Weird Metaphors in them or is explaining trivia too complicated for most ppl to understand.

While a lot of ppl generally think this is very silly & r like thank u Devi Kusanali very cool she also sometimes gets a lot of irony poisoned “I love being a hater” types in her notifs ragging on her for being cringe and Emotionally Sincere—which she seems to barely notice. Wanderer, however, (who’s main social media presence consists of a small private account he only lets people he likes follow where he posts pictures of nice scenery he saw while wandering or incredibly smug selfies with people he just beat in a fight sprawled out on the ground behind him), sees this and gets on his only other account (a public burner he uses to argue with other akademiya students about research topics) and starts replying to the hate comments under Nahida’s post threatening to beat their ass in increasingly absurd ways because he thinks it’s funny

No one has any idea who’s running his account but it immediately becomes a running joke on the website bc everyone thinks it’s completely insane and it also causes discourse that results in Traveler (who posts once a month but accidentally goes viral all the time bc everyone thinks Traveler being on social media is really funny and half their posts about their everyday life read like dril tweets) getting ppl making “awareness posts” about them being mutuals with Wanderer’s burner account because it is “very concerning they support death threats”, to which everyone starts arguing about the ethics of being mean to gods on the internet and if it qualifies as child hating behavior if the child in question is 500 years old. Meanwhile Nahida has not been online for the last 3 days because she’s in the forest having fun with the Aranara and Wanderer does not care in the slightest because he just thought it would be entertaining to cause problems on purpose. Someone during the discourse gets particularly mean and nasty about Nahida and he replies by posting their full IP address and nothing else

The parent wars

Ok I love how this fandom ships Lilia and deduce’s mom because they are both single parents with adorable sons.Then someone else recommend Vil’s dad (I think his name was Eric)since he is also single and might be ready to mingle.

But you know who else the fandom has dubbed as a single adoptive parent of our dear m/c?! DIVUS CREWEL!!!

And now imagine all the dads end up meeting Ms Spade (maybe on parents day at school) and end up falling in love with since she is so HOT , BEAUTIfUL aNd WONDERFUl. So they are now love rivals and they each want to win the Ms Spade heart. Now because the dads are rivals their kids are now rivals since they all want their dads to be happy and let's be honest deuce would make an amazing brother so it is a win win.

But now imagine the CHAOS and DRAMA that will unfold since the kids will battling each other in order to convince deuce that their dad is the best fit for his mom. Like imagine Vil stealing deuce away to his dorm and gives him a list of benfits that he will get if they become sibling (examples: getting tutoring from vil to become an honor student, how there might be adverts about flash bikes (you know those magical motorbikes in their world) or compitions that he can get front roll seats to and most importantly his mom would be set for life).He might have got Rook to do a quick background check and integrated Epel on deuces’ like/dislikes before the meeting.

Then you got M/C who will be normal but say things like how deuce is more then a best friend and that he is a brother to them (insert a very insulted ace who m/c would have explain the situation to later) then u got both ace and m/c start bragging about how crewel is best and if he does hypercritically marry Ms Spade not only will he help with his studies but they can have so many sleep overs at crewel’s house since they will be living together.

Then you got Silver who is a bit confused but got spirit. He might honestly think that he and Deuce are brothers now from the way Lilia talks like he and Deuce’s mom are already married plus Silver would be happy if there were more humans in the family. I honestly think that Silver would be the most chill not that pushy but teach deuce things like how to sword fight and help him with his homework(if he doesn't fall asleep)

But the most funniest thing about this love square is that it would turn huge very fast because of Vil , M/C and Silvers friends will get involved. Like you got M/C with the first years supporting team Crewel. Vil and his entire dorm on team Eric and then you got Lilia being backed by the Prince of Briar Valley and his people. Not to mention the potential traitors *cough* *cough* Sebek or even Epel (btw I am not saying that they both are not loyal but Sebek’s heart belongs to Mallus and Lila first before anything else while Epel might get threatened with more makeup routines or something but properly not actual betray m/c since he is a ride or die but instead become something like a double agent.) Some of the dorms would be on the m/c side while others would stay neutral (the fish mafia might start a betting pool while Cater ends up posting the situation on Magiscram making the entire internet spilt between who would win the single mother’s heart ) Majority of the staff try stay neutral but are all on team Crewel and situations ends up becoming like a huge source of entertainment better then any reality t/v show (some producers ended up coming and asking if they can make it a show since Eric and Vil are involved but the got told to buzz off since this is a private matter)

Meanwhile, poor Deuce is lost on what to do and only wants his mom to be happy and is not sure how to deal with all this. Let's not forget that he also has to deal with his mom’s potential boyfriends trying to win his favour which is a whole other situation.

hey man, i've been following u for a while but i saw your comment and dude.. bringing up the age of consent means jackshit man. it isnt a cultural difference, if brazilians ( the ones who were literally the first people who brought it up ! and translated everything ! ) say its weird and wrong, then it's weird. you don't have to defend forever, put your morals before your entertainment.

Okay first: I don't agree with pedophilia and regardless of age of consent, going out with younger people when certain age gaps and power dynamics are at play is a scummy thing to do. I'll agree with you on this and I'll ask that you read the entirety of this post explaining why else I commented before you start metaphorically stabbing me.

Second: My reason for bringing up age of consent is not to excuse what he's done, not in the least. The reason I am is because there's a nonzero chance that there's cultural shit at play and as a white person from the USA, I don't know enough about the situation to say anything for sure. For example, in Japan it's very common for women to be sexually assaulted in trains- some statistics put that number higher than 20%. It's not excused there, people there hate it as much as people here. However, when numbers are that high, one does have to wonder what percentage of the population assumes that it is okay. What percentage assumes that yes it's scummy, but it's also to be expected. In Japan, while there are laws against sexual assault, the chances of anything being done about it are... not always promising.

Obviously sexual assault is not okay. Obviously the people who do it are in the wrong. I am not excusing this behavior, nor should it be normalized. However, the fact remains that there are cultural norms that may be at play here and those norms may dictate to some people that it is okay. Even if it's not. (Think about how many entitled dude bros are in the US who think commenting on a woman's bust size is okay, or think it's normal for a husband to physically punish his wife.)

The fact here is that whether or not Forever went out with an underage fan, so long as the fan was over the age of 14, it was not technically illegal. And as such, there may be cultural norms in some locations that make a young 20-something think going out with a 14 or 15 year old is okay. Is it a good thing to do from a moral standpoint? Absolutely not. But until I know what percentage of 14-15 year olds in Brazil date/get hit on by older men or someone from Brazil can fill me in, I don't have enough information to know if Forever's going out with this person was to do so with scummy intentions. It's a scummy action sure, and people are welcome to dislike it. But I want to know the degree of scummy before I make a personal decision, you know?

There's a difference between peer pressure + not knowing better and going out with intent. One of which will make me distance myself from the situation until he makes an apology, the other makes me start deleting old work with him in it. Regardless, until there is more work from Forever in making up and apologizing for his past actions, I will not be supporting him.

Third reason: The person who's dragged up all those old tweets is apparently an anti and has spent a lot of their time trying to dig up dirt on the Brazilians. There's a logical fallacy regarding disbelieving a source simply because you don't like them, but there's also something to be said about believing someone on the internet wholeheartedly regarding context and what they think was going on when you don't know the person and they have reason to be biased. Again, I want to know. And I want other people to fill me in and for other people to have information so they too can be filled in. How "canon" is your f/o's canon? Like, how different or how similar is your f/o's lore to the source they came from? And when you reblog, it would be really boring but also acceptable if you only answered in the tags, but like give me a whole POST to read when you reblog this post if you want to answer. Lore dump everybody, I want to know how much thought you've put into your f/o whether it be generating a whole lore of your own or just learning everything about your f/o's source that you could. Or does your lore and their lore mingle, or is it not related at all?

For one, his name is changed. I posted about it.

There isnt jack diddly in the movie, he does have a whole freaking backstory I made for him. I'm no pro at writing, but it's some general headcanons and lore I conjured together for him.

Dracula:

Generally same lore as the 1931 movie and the novel combined in one way or another and some things I picked up on the internet. Not super different from his sources or much added.

The most extra headcanons he has in terms of how he is might be specifics about his wolf and bat forms, but not really.

Inkubus:

Has extra/hybrid demon forms. Looks like a satyr demon, has a goat form, and his human disguise is defaulted to the one in the movie. He can mix his forms however he pleases and ofc look like/possess other people if need be.

He has some other assumed powers, probably not entirely to incubus mythology, but I don't think he really is either.

What little lore about him that's given is also generally retained/assumed.

basically, imo phil is implying that he didn't want to come out. not for the same reasons as dan, but because for him his sexuality was part of his private life and he didn't want that out on the internet. and the fact that he's talked about how he was nervous to come out on YT and then also that he didn't realize how much of a weight off of his shoulders it would be until he did it implies that it's not something he was gunning to do. I think he came out soon after dan did because he saw what an impact dan's coming out made both on dan's personal life but also to the ppl who viewed it (and also just on a practical level, anyone who saw dan's video would know Phil was queer, so phil's vid was rly just him explicitly stating it himself)

I said this before a few weeks ago to another anon but I think d&p made the decision to be closeted together. I think some of their reasons were the same and some were different but they both still wanted the same outcome which was people not digging into their personal lives. I don't think it was a situation where one was holding the other back (which is not necessarily what you're implying but idk how else to put it lol, but do u get what I mean?)

oh, wouldn’t it be nice? - nsfw, some angst, eddie finds richie’s obituary that he got from adrien (the park scene in chap 2; at least i think it was adrien), SUPER SWEET OMG, i had to stop a few times from the sheer amount of emotion this gave me

ive still been thinking abt what happens next & besides the obvious ive mostly been thinking ab the premise-- that is, a riff on "ur best friend is the one who would help u hide the body!! haha" type 2010s tumblr joke... a huge part of whn is centered solely on the relationships the internet& users have w/ gore and violence & the impact that has on the victims and also on Being A Normal Human (vikki taking violent crime as Entertaining Content/true crime and other content creators using real life atrocities as content material / gage being kind of isolated & interested in gore and horror content and going through thaf pipeline to the point where his blog bg is a photo of an underage Actual Real Life Serial Killer and his Actual Victim He Kills who he ENDS UP DATING & treating as a celebrity.-- this being obviously the direct result of real life tragedy as content re: vikki. / & then of course milo, a guy who in real life was involved in the murder & it fucking ruined his life (yes he Did Bad, obviously he Did Bad By Mutilating a Corpse, im not talking abt this again) is victimized by both vikki & gage, whose relationships w him & the murder are always closer to a controversial celebrity (that specific lens of Content Consumer/Creator vs Subject leading specifically to the shitty behavior)

anyway it's fucked up that the kids were at the age when u internalize shit u read in tumblr dot com & u just know grif was reading those quirky hahaha best friends help hide the body! writers advice: murder them in a boat on foreign waters! type posts-- they're all intentionally written to be very online coded in the flashbacks so i think this isn't even conjecture at this point. anyway yadda yadda cycles whatever. romanticization of toxic relationships and eds and sh and all kinds of nasty shit on tumblr specifically back then . like man!! it all comes back to people being shitty on the outer!

she who became the sun (reread) + he who drowned the world - shelley parker-chan ★★★★★ (historical fantasy)

i reread swbts before tackling hwdtw and the way that this duology is so emotionally devastating! big win for readers who are fans of characters tearing the world apart in their grief and then realizing they cannot live in their new world! and the insane gender goodstuff, of course. ough. will think about this for a while

into the riverlands - nghi vo ★★★★★ (fantasy)

excellent third entry to the series that felt more fun than the other two thus far - i love playing around with myths and legendmaking

[reread] raven quest - sharon stewart ★★★★★ (adventure)

really happy to find out that this book from my childhood absolutely holds up. tightly plotted and paced and really poignant. i love animal adventures <3

the last devil to die - richard osman ★★★★★ (mystery)

no more withholding 5*s from genre fiction!! this book made me tear up for real so even though a silly murder mystery is probably never going to change my life, we have to give credit where credit is due. the most character-focused entry of the series so far and it definitely shows!

war of the foxes - ricahrd siken ★★★★☆ (poetry)

individually less interesting but collectively more coherent than crush. it's cool to have a conversation with a bit of poetry standing in a field, and I do love a good metaphor

the paper menagerie - ken liu ★★★★☆ (sci fi short stories)

great collection to go over slowly - i suspect it might have felt a bit tedious reading it front to back in a sitting. i liked how chinese a number of the stories felt. lots of ideas to chew on!

the poisonwood bible - barbara kingsolver ★★★★☆ (historical)

i just know this book went crazy in high school english class! it has themes and motifs and characters to compare and contrast! there's so much rich ground for analysis. and also treating characters like a bizarre personality test (the avenue of entertainment i chose). fantastic book to chew on and i greatly enjoyed talking to people about it

carrie - stephen king ★★★★☆ (horror)

yeah, i get the hype! this is a book that's impossible to read divorced from how deeply it's ingrained in current popular culture, but it stands up beautifully for itself. i'd love to read more analysis of it that puts in the cultural context of the 70s

hotline - dimitri nasrallah ★★★★☆ (historical)

surprisingly kind and hopeful story, definitely lovely if you want something feel-good. i really enjoyed how the occasional french was threaded into the english, it felt very montreal to me

the monstrumologist - rick yancey ★★★★☆ (historical horror)

tremendously gory and often unsettling. i found myself surprisingly attached to the characters and all the historical affectations of the book - it's not a series that i'm itching to continue but it was a good read

hark! a vagrant - kate beaton ★★★★☆ (historical humour graphic novel)

skimmed through parts of this but it was a fun read from cover to cover. always entertaining to see the origins of some very famous internet memes and there are also some hidden gems!

dead silence - s. a. barnes ★★★☆☆ (sci fi horror)

the author writes a very good spooky ship and very mediocre everything else

the word is murder + the sentence is death + a line to kill + the twist of a knife - anthony horowitz (-★★★☆☆+) (mystery)

decent murder mystery series. the author self-insert is goofy, the random homophobia is persistent, but they're quick and easy reads that go down like junk food

all that's left in the world - erik j. brown ★★★☆☆ (post-apocalyptic romance)

genre-mash that just didn't quite work for me. the tonal shifts between "fluffy gay YA romance" and "the world has ended post-apocalyptic bleakness" were jarring and the book never felt like it cohered into anything meaningful
