Headcanon -Indian Renee!!

She grew up in Rajasthan and her old surname was Agarawal (because lbr she gives big Agarwal vibes) she was adopted later by a christian women (stephanie walker) from Kerela.

Later Renee moved to America with stephanie, bcs stephanie had family who lives there.

Despite being christian Renee and Natalie took part in (only the fun, non rlly religious bits) Indian festivals- namely Sankranti (kite flying), Holi (colour fights? Idk how explain) and Diwali (fire crackers)

Renee doesnt like Diwali as much as Sankranti and Holi, because the noise leave her feeling paranoid and a bit anxious

The inspiration for her coloured hair was Holi, especially since it was one of her only good memories from her childhood

Her favourite Mithai (sweets) are peda and rasgulla

Though I think she wouldn't have that much of a tolerance for spice- especially not after spending a good portion of her life in america and bcs I dont think her biological parents ever cooked actual food for her? They either forgot to feed her or ordered online most of the time imo

Other than that I think her comfort dish would be kichdi and her fav bollywood movie would be Dangal

(Also she has fair but tanned skin. She dyes her black hair platinum blonde whenever her roots start to show)

Dry Bean Harvest

I am bedazzled by the Tiger’s Eye dry bean, though, admittedly, I’ve not cooked them yet. Here’s the description from Vermont Bean and Seed Company. 80-90 Day. Bush. Originally from Southern South America. This dry bean has a wonderful rich flavor and smooth texture. The skins are very tender and disappear when cooked making them great for refried beans or chili. Can be used as a fresh shell bean. Very productive on 24 inch plants.

Tiger’s Eye is just one of six dry beans I grew this summer. For the past four years I’ve had difficulty growing tomatoes in my garden with our trend to cool and foggy summers. But I can grow beans. Emerite pole green beans thrive as do a variety of bush beans. In 2022 I decided to try dry beans.

My dry bean harvests are small because my city vegetable garden consists primarily of four raised beds totaling 120 square feet. With half an acre, I’d be planting rows of dry beans!

I’ve written about cranberry beans after my first encounter with them in a Farmers Market Box from Specialty Produce. I wonder if it was their color or their history as a beloved heirloom in New England since the eighteenth century. I grew them for the first time in 2022 and saved seed for this year.

My cranberry bean harvest was abundant a year ago so I planted a 24 x 24 inch block this year with 2 ounces of saved seed. This year’s harvest, pictured above was 7 ounces. You might call these hobby beans—maybe a couple of dinners but I’ll savor them.

Cannellini beans are favorites and useful in our plant-based, Mediterranean diet. They did poorly last summer but I gave them another opportunity to prove themselves. The results were dismal—perhaps location related. One ounce of seed produced 3 ounces. I have other beans that were very productive to take their place next year.

Renee’s Garden offers Heirloom Dry Beans, Soup Mix Blend. The seed packet lists equal parts of Painted Pony, Hidatsa Red Indian, Yellow Indian Woman and Jacob’s Cattle beans. To give them a fair chance, I planted 10 seeds of each in a 1 x 4 foot area. Two beans did very well and two harvests were quite meager.

The Jacob’s Cattle Gold beans will not make the cut for next year but should be nice in a winter bean soup. Ditto Hidatsa Red Indian beans.

Yellow Indian Woman beans, (also known as Buckeye by Rancho Gordo) on the dinner plate above is 3 ounces from just 10 seeds. These were the most productive of the soup mix beans. If they cook up well and we like them, I’ll definitely plant a large area next year.

Considering the yields from 12 square feet, I plan to at least double the area devoted to dry beans next year.

3. I have a soft spot for Virgo-Cancer couples. Virgo is considered the most masculine sign and Cancer is the most feminine sign. Sexual polarity is what drives a relationship and this could be why these couples are so fun to watch on screen and even irl.

Jay on the show, Modern Family is played by Ed O'Neill who is Purvaphalguni moon (tropical virgo) and Sofia Vergara, who plays his wife, has Punarvasu moon (tropical cancer).

6. I find a connection between Ashlesha and plastic surgery. Ashlesha is the star of restriction and its tightly coiled by nature. These natives often express their severity through their self-presentation. On another note, these tropical Leo natives become sidereal Cancers and while Leos are known for being extremely self conscious and prone to fluctuating self esteem, adding a layer of Cancerian sensitivity makes things worse for them. Their self-image becomes extremely personal and they feel a need to master perfectionism. (in my perspective, switching to sidereal does not cancel out one's tropical signs, it adds another layer or texture to it. Leos are so sensitive and picky, why? because they are sidereal Cancers underneath the surface. some Cancers are very typically girly and domestic whereas others are not? because they're split between the gemini and cancer signs in sidereal)

Now a lot of celebs get work done, especially these days but I think there are some celebrities who are known for their plastic surgery and these are just a few off the top of my head.

A treaty of Friendship, Cession and Limits made and entered into this twenty fourth day of August Eighteen hundred & Eighteen, by and be-

tween  [between] William Clark and Auguste Chouteau, Commissioners on the part and behalf of the United States of the one part, and the Undersigned Chiefs,

and Warriors of the Quawpaw Tribe or Nation, on the part and behalf of this said Tribe or Nation of the other part. -

 Art: I: The Undersigned Chiefs and Warriors for themselves and their s'd [said] Tribe or Nation do hereby acknowledge themselves to be under the protection of the United States, and

of no other State, Power, or Sovereignty whatsoever.

 Art: II: The Undersigned chiefs and Warriors, for themselves and their said Tribe or Nation do hereby, for an in consideration of the promises and stipulations herein after named, Cede

ceded to the United States, without hindrance or molestation so long as they demean themselves peacefully and offer no injury or annoyance to any of the citizens of the United

States, and until the S'd [said] United States may think proper to assign the Same, or any same or any portion thereof, as hunting grounds to other friendly indians.

 Art IV; No Citizen of the United States, or any other person shall be permitted to settle on any of the lands hereby allotted to and reserved for the S'd [said] Quawpaw Tribe, or Nation, to live and

hunt on; Yet, it is expressly understood and agreed on by and between the parties aforesaid, that at all times the citizens of the United States, shall have the right to travel

and pass freely without toll or exaction through the Quawpaw reservation, by such roads or routes as now are, or hereafter may be, established.

 Art V; In consideration of the cession and stipulations aforesaid the United States do hereby promise, and bind themselves to pay and deliver to the s'd [said] Quawpaw Tribe, or Nation, immediately

upon the execution of this Treaty, Goods and Merchandise to the value of Four Thousand Dollars, and to deliver, or cause to be delivered to them yearly, and every year, Goods and Mer-

chandise [merchandise] to the value of One Thousand Dollars to be estimated in the city, or place in the United States, where the same are procured, or purchased.

 Art VI; Least the friendship which now exists between the United States, and the Said Tribe, or Nation should be interrupted by the misconduct of individuals, it is hereby agreed, that

for injuries done by individuals, no private  revenge, or retaliation shall take place, but instead thereof, complaints shall be made by the party injured to the other. - By the Tribe, or

nation aforesaid, to the Governor, Superintendant of Indian Affairs, or some other person, authorized or appointed for that purpose, and by the Governor, Superintendent, or other person authorized

to the [crossed out] said [/] Chiefs of the S'd [said] Tribe, or Nation. And it shall be the duty of the Said Tribe or Nation, upon complaint being made as aforesaid, to deliver up the person or persons against whom the complaint is made, to the end that he or they may be punished agreeably to the Laws of the State or Territory where thee offence may have been committed; And in like manner, if any robbery,

violence, or murder, shall be committed on any indian, or Indians belonging to the Said Tribe, or Nation, the person, or persons so offending shall be tried, and if found guilty,

punished in like manner as if the injury had been done to a white man._ And it is further agreed that the chiefs of the said Tribe or Nation shall to the utmost of their power

exert themselves to recover horses or other property which may be Stolen from any citizen or citizens of the United States, by any individual or individuals of the Said Tribe, or

Nation, and the property  so recovered shall be forthwith delivered to the Governor, Superintendent, or other person authorized to receive the same, that it may be restored

to the proper owner. And in cases where the exertions of the Chiefs shall be ineffectual in recovering the property stolen, as aforesaid, if sufficient proof can be obtain-

ed [obtained], that such property was actually stolen by an indian, or indians belonging to the Said Tribe, or Nation, a sum equal to the value of the property which has been stolen, may

be deducted by the United States from the Annuity of S'd [said] Tribe or Nation. And the United States hereby guarantee to the individuals of the Said Tribe, or Nation

a full indemnification for any horse, or horses, or other property which may be taken from [insert] them [/] by any of their citizens; Provided, the property so stolen cannot be recovered, and

that sufficient proof is produced that it may actually stolen by a citizen or citizens of the United States.

 Art VII; This Treaty shall take effect and be obligatory on the contracting parties, as soon as the same shall have been ratified by the President of the United States,

by and with the advice and consent of the Senate.

North American Martyrs

 Feast Day: October 19(New),  September 26 (Trad)

The eight North American martyrs, also known as the Canadian Martyrs, the Jesuit Martyrs of North America or the Martyrs of France, included six priests and two lay brothers. They traveled from Renaissance France to the wild North American frontier as missionaries to win souls for Christ.  All were martyred by the North American Indians. They are the first Catholic martyred saints of North America and were canonized on June 29, 1930.

Chapter two. ● Masterlist ●

CHAPTER TWO.

Edward and Bella were making Renesmee breakfast, while she was going through her phone as if she was just a normal teenager. I came close with my backpack on my shoulder.

" You look awesome." Said Bella while putting her thumbs up. I smiled and Edward smiled as well, it's always a bummer to know he reads my mind, wonder how Renes deals with that.

"She hates as much as you do." Stated Edward. Bella punched his shoulder and Renes rolled her eyes.

"Dad shut up!" Kind of easy to forget they are her parents, in sigh they are only 2 years older than her.

"Manners Renesmee. Also, Esme is going to drive you girls to school." Edward educated his daughter to become a princess, and he did not fail. Renesmee walks and talks like royalty, most of the time.

The drive to school was quiet, Esme was as nervous as us, so she just tried to reassure us both with calming words. Renes was calmer, her almost boyfriend Jacob, was human, I mean, human half the time... And almost boyfriend because he is 6 years older than her, again, just in sight, in reality, Renesmee is only 6 years old...

Walking inside the school building, was challenging. Everyone was looking at the both of us. "I think they are already obsessed with the new age Cullens." Renes has her mom's sarcasm for sure.

We got our class map and none of our classes matched. " What a joke! We are students of the same year!" I exclaimed desperately.

"For sure they want us to meet new people," says Renesmee while walking away.

My first class was literature, I tried my best to blend in, but Alice's and Bella's gifts made it a little bit worse... my clothes unfortunately are way too fashionable for this small town.

I decided to sit near a girl whose clothes looked the best, she had green eyes, perfect eyebrows, and an angel face, I'm not segregating but maybe she will judge me less on being too dressed up? That line of thought was of course, wrong! She ignored me the whole class and only talked to some girls who were sitting behind us. Her blood smelled like sugar, but not in a good way, in a way that's suffocating and way too much.

The class was okay. The teacher expected way more of me. Of course, that's also the Cullens's fault. They were graduating for the tenth time and I am only on my first time. Y/n, the first dumb Cullen ever.

The second class was history and I decided to sit alone. However, not for too long, the prettiest boy I had ever seen just sat next to me. His blood smells like vanilla and roses... his eyes are a dark brown, his skin soft and pale, his fit and is wearing a jock jacket, for sure he plays Football, I think... he looks a bit older, but isn't, that his low beard effect... His hair curls was just perfect, really makes me want to pass my fingers through it.

At lunch time I found out Renesmee had way more fun than I did because she made exactly four friends. So I sat with them, grabbed a soda, and said I was just not hungry. Renesmee, touched my arm and let me know she feels sorry and forgot about the fact I just drink blood, that's a great power of hers because it means we can talk without people interacting with our conversations.

At the cafeteria table, the girl near me is called Deborah Koshi, a beautiful Indian girl who moved to Forks last year, her boyfriend, Zion Mohamed has been in Forks since birth, his Muslim dad married an American woman, and they both made a beautiful-looking boy, he was so kind towards Deborah that made a little jealous.

The other girl was sitting near Renesmee and her name was Cynthia Simpson, she had the sweetest face and temper, she was wearing a Rosary on her neck and was talking to Renesmee about her Bible study, Renesmee was listening with her full concentration, while that, Cynthia's boyfriend Cornelius Hitchcock was talking to me," I'm not a person who usually judges but isn't your name an old English man name's?" I said jokingly, fortunately he was a chill person, smiled, and said" My parents are actually English, and my name is also my great grandfather's name." He said laughing. I laughed as well and let him return to talk to Renes and Cynthia.

Suddenly I see the pretty boy from history class with the green-eyed girl from literature class. Of course, they were boyfriend and girlfriend! They were walking hand in hand across the cafeteria. If my stomach held food it would make me vomit right now. I am aware I have known him for only sixth minutes, and we would never be together! But it hurts to see them together, specially because she is such a rude person!

The rest of the day was just okay. I had a class with Cynthia, that made me notice how pretty she is, her brown skin and brown hair were the perfect match, she talked the whole class with me... However, that did not make it less of a boring day, awaiting to be finished.

At home, Edward just read my mind. Usually, he is way more modest and prudent about that, but not today.

"I'm so sorry y/n." He said with a sad tone.

"Sorry for what?" Renesmee asked from the couch, "Nothing! Just the fact I didn't make any friends on my own Renes." She doesn't need to know my first crush went that bad, I said on my mind to Edward. He nodded and left me alone, thankfully.

After that teenager humiliation moment, I went to Carlisle's office, I knocked and he answered.

"Hi," I said shyly.

"Hi," Carlisle's smile is always found when referring to me. He stopped his medical research and paid full attention to what I said.

"I spent the whole day telling people you are my dad." I saw he was waiting for more so I continued," Everybody accepted the lie that I am Rosalie's long-lost sister, crazy how the Cullens are so famous here..." I finished

"Maybe that's my medical services fault..." He laughed kindly, " I'm happy to know it was a good day for you, y/n. I acknowledge your resentments, but I mean good... I always meant good for you ." He said.

"I know. Please, remember our agreement. When I finish high school, you tell me the truth about my past." That's the only reason I am accepting this human theater. He nodded and went back to his studies, I think this means we finished our talk.

Much like how Equius's blatant racism collides oddly with being himself a collection of distorted stereotypes, it was struck me curious that a feature of his often emphasized in Native American race headcanons, his long dark hair, is also alluded to in-comic as a feature of Con Air's Cameron Poe, when Vriska calls Arquius a "NATIONAL fucking TREASURE" (another Nic Cage film). A couple things:

I ran a quick search on the Native American scenes in Con Air -- there's a bit where Dave Chappelle is seated next to a Native prisoner and strikes up a conversation with "Sup Cochise? HAU." When ignored, he continues "Hey man, I'm just fucking with you alright? Don't get all Wounded Knee on me and shit." Occurred to me that Equius dies with a wounded knee...

2. With the precedent of Halloween and Terminator behind me, I wondered if the racial ambiguity might have originated in Con Air itself, rather than Homestuck. The name "Cameron" seems to derive from Scottish Gaelic cam (“crooked, bent”) + sròn (“nose”) -- which led me to the Native American subsection of the Wikipedia article for AQUILINE NOSE:

The aquiline nose was deemed a distinctive feature of some Native American tribes, members of which often took their names after their own characteristic physical attributes (i.e. The Hook Nose, or Chief Henry Roman Nose). [5] In the depiction of Native Americans, for instance, an aquiline nose is one of the standard traits of the "noble warrior" type. [10] It is so important as a cultural marker, Renee Ann Cramer argued in Cash, Color, and Colonialism (2005), that tribes without such characteristics have found it difficult to receive "federal recognition"/"acknowledgement" (which are specific/significant terms) from the US government, resulting in failure to win benefits including tax-exempt status, reclamation rights, and the right to administer and profit from casinos. [11]

So if the name CAMERON POE gains a possible synonym in INDIAN GHOST, Dave Chappelle's Wounded Knee joke seems like less of a one off, and Nic Cage (and his long hair) become a vehicle for filtering images of Native Americans through a white (ergo ghostly?) body... though I'm not sure where to begin with the film's reevaluation. Larks are apparently messenger of the south-wind god Okaga in some Lakota myth, but how that would bear upon Vince Larkin isn't immediately clear to me. Pocahontas and her friend Flit came out two years prior to Con Air, so I wonder if Tricia Poe's pet name of "hummingbird" is relevant... and the matter of the movie ending before a bunch of Nevadan casinos makes me squint a bit now. Gonna need to rewatch soon

3. There's a movie about Cochise (and his friendship with American soldier Tom Jeffords) called Broken Arrow -- another potential touching point for Equius, if he's indeed filtered through Con Air

Diversity in my books

I've been reluctant to make this post, because I feel like my intentions could be easily misconstrued. People might think I'm trying to make myself look a certain way or support some kind of agenda, but no. I've just ALWAYS written diverse books. Simply put, I think there should be all types of characters, for all sorts of people to enjoy. So I feature ALL KINDS of characters -- white, black, abled, disabled, straight, LBGT, pretty, plain, old, young, etc, etc. Writing the same character over and over again just isn't fun to me! DS9 trivia from IMDB - Part 6

- Armin Shimerman had introduced the Ferengi into Star Trek lore in the episode Star Trek: The Next Generation: The Last Outpost(1987), when the Ferengi were still intended to be an antagonistic race. However, over time, the Ferengi started to serve more and more as comic relief characters. Shimerman later said that he regretted his mean-spirited, one-dimensional performance in The Next Generation, and took it upon himself to flesh out the Ferengi and their culture as much as possible throughout Deep Space Nine's run.

- When designing the space station, illustrator Michael Okuda came up with a sprawling, asymmetrical design inspired by an oil rig. He was quite proud of it, but producer Rick Berman didn't like it. He told Okuda that ultimately the design needed to be something simple that an eight year old could draw, and still be recognized. With this idea in mind, Okuda conceived the final design.

- Dr. Julian Bashir's last name was originally Amoros, and he was intended to be of Spanish or Hispanic descent. The name was not changed until the series pilot, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Emissary (1993), went into pre-production. Alexander Siddig said that he was very happy that the writers were bold enough not to write a backstory for Bashir, so that he wasn't shoehorned into an ethnicity and his character could pass for Arabian, Mediterranean, Hispanic or even Indian.

- One of the original ideas of the station was based on the Biblical Tower of Babel, meaning that it had been created over as long as three thousand years, through the co-operation of many different alien races who could not effectively communicate with one another, using different technologies that were often incompatible with each other. It was finally decided that the space station would be Cardassian in design, with lots of circular design elements.

- The Bajoran monetary system uses the Lita as currency. The Lita is actually the name of the currency of Lithuania. This country was occupied by the Russians from 1795 to 1918, and again from 1940 to 1991, much as Bajor was occupied by the Cardassians.

- "Raktajino", the often featured Klingon coffee beverage and favorite of the DS9 crew, is mentioned 47 times during the entire series. Whether this was another purposeful "47" reference is unknown.

- Andrew Robinson (Garak) was earlier considered to play Decker in Star Trek:The Motion Picture.

- Rene Auberjonois played Colonel West in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (1991).

- Cast members frequently name Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Far Beyond the Stars (1998) as one of their favorite episodes, due to the 20th century setting, and because some could finally appear on the show without excessive make-up, like Armin Shimerman (Quark), Rene Auberjonois (Odo), Michael Dorn (Worf), Jeffrey Combs (Weyoun) and Marc Alaimo (Gul Dukat). In fact, writer Ira Steven Behr got very confused during production of this episode because he had trouble recognizing Shimerman without his usual Ferengi make-up.    

- Ferengi males are often shown wearing headdresses on the back of their heads, but some, like Quark, never wear a headdress. Aron Eisenberg responded to a question about it on Twitter saying, "It's because our prosthetic head only reached to the just above the neckline and they needed something to help cover it up, hence the headdress. Armin Shimerman's head reached further than his neckline to under his clothing. So, there you go!! It was all about the make-up."
