He was really trying to be with me and I was low and vulnerable. He was a tattoo artist. I think we had been reunited for a month when he said he wanted to tattoo my lips on his neck. We talked about what I would get if he got that tattoo. ⁠ ⁠ I lived in Sarasota and he lived in Santa Barbara so we went our separate ways. I had kissed a napkin for him before I left. He got my lips tattooed with a lock and then he came back to visit me. I told him, look, I don't want to be with you anymore but you can still tattoo me if you want in a friendship, I still love you, but it's not like that, sort of way. ⁠ ⁠ He tattooed it in my living room and that was that. For me, the tattoo is a reminder that I hold the key to my own heart so I shouldn't just give it away like that. I had no idea what I wanted for a year or two. I used to work at this metal bar in New York and it was a random Monday night. It was winter; I was covering a shift and there was nobody there. This guy came in. He was an artist. He sat at the end of the bar with me. We were the only two people in there for most of the night. We sat there for hours and we were just talking. Somehow we got on the subject of tattoos and I said, “Yeah I'm trying to figure out what I want on my knuckles.”⁣ ⁣ He was like, “Well let's play twenty questions, and I bet you by the end of it I'm gonna figure out what you're gonna get.” I was like, whatever. I got nothing to lose. He asked me all kinds of stuff about myself. They were in-depth questions about my family, my personality, all kinds of stuff. At the very end he was like, “Okay, I know what you're going to get. You're gonna get, ‘much love,’ “ and it was like he slapped me across the face. ⁣ ⁣ I mean, you know me. I'm pretty sassy, and I can be harsh too but I have a lot of love for a lot of people, and I'm surrounded by a lot of love all of the time and I always have been.
