12 Grimmauld Place Headcanons
Okay, okay - so - on the Wiki it says that Grimmauld Place is in Islington. However, it's almost guaranteed that this is not the borough the Noble & Most Ancient House of Black would live. For one, the area was historially occupied by wealthy merchants, artisans and farmers not aristocrats. In the 1970s, the place was very run-down and generally working class (though it was undergoing gentrification).
I found this blog which was super useful. They give three possible local stations from which Grimmauld Place would be in short walking distance: Goodge St, Camden Town or Caledonian Road.
While the other locations are probably fine, the Goodge St option is the most intriguing. It would place the house relatively close to the Ministry & the Leaky Cauldron. It's also not that far from Soho, which was a bit of a crazy place in the 70s (according to my googling), and definitely somewhere a young Sirius might have headed out as a rebellious 15 year old (probably where he picked up all those posters in his room).
So I found a square that was built in the Georgian era for aristocratic families called Fitzroy Square in the area. And while Grimmauld Place is obviously a street rather than on a square, I think the vibes are similar.
Fitzroy Square is close to a different station but Grimmauld Place is a fictional street - so I'd say it's a similar in vibe location, just down towards Goodge St Station.
Basically, in my head, Grimmauld Place is somewhere in Fitzrovia. An area of London that wasn't necessary "swinging" in the 1990s (as far as my googling tells me) but would have been perfectly adequate for the Black family in the 1970s.
Any of the above stations are in the old St Pancras Borough area, if I'm reading my maps right, and that's super interesting because it connects to another headcanon of mine about the house.
From the 19th century onwards, the parish and borough of St Pancras was home to a large, mostly middle-class, German population.
Irma Crabbe (Walburga's mother) was the original owner of Grimmauld Place. She inherited it because she was the Firstborn (gender irrelevant). Then Walburga inherited it when her mother died, because she was also the Firstborn. And then when she died, it went to Sirius - despite his disownment, since the house was seperate from the main branch's estates.
Anyway, Irma Crabbe was a German witch from a very prominent family. They were allies of the House of Black and would have used Grimmauld Place for as a house to live in while in England. It would also give them easy access to important locations such as Diagon Alley and the Ministry of Magic.
A large German population would have been a big plus in their books, as they likely didn't purchase No. 12 until the middle of the 19th century (considering the house has gas lamps for lighting, which became fashionable around that time) or later.
The house is also the reason why Walburga and Orion were married to each other; since she came with a large, centrally located house as part of her dowry. Having that estate come into the main family would be very beneficial for the family (the House of Black tends not to marry each other, according to their family tree. The match was very unusual and there must have been some kind of motive).
P.S. the reason why I call Irma a German witch is because of her name "Irma" and because Crabbe does not appear of the Sacred 28 list - so the family likely moved to England after the list was published. Crabbe is an Germanic sounding surname. Plus, her firstborn daughter is named Walburga which is a very Germanic sounding name.

Would you agree that Irma Black and her granddaughters are giving Olenna and Margery Tyrell vibes? I can't decide which sister would be the Margery yet though!
Would I agree? Maybe. It's not an interpretation I have thought of before since I imagine Irma as very uptight and cold, very much like an old Narcissa so the opposite of Olenna Tyrell. I do find it quite interesting and amusing a headcanon though, and can take some aspects of if like Irma having a soft spot of one of her granddaughtes (in that case it would definitely be Narcissa) but I would not say they would share vibes with Olenna and Margaery. Also two of my headcanon Harry Potter dynamics are already based on GoT/asoiaf dynamics but altered to fit the situations, characters, and universe and I don't want to do it with more because it feels repetitive. With that being said, I would absolutely love to read it in a fanfiction.

Irma and Pollux Black. After losing his duel against his granddaughter Bellatrix Lestrange, Pollux started using a wheelchair, as an injury from the duel made walking slightly painful.
Fun fact: Pollux's full name in this au is Pollux Betelgeuse Black XIII.

Is Walburga aware that Orion had Sirius buy his Christmas gifts for him? What was her reaction to "her husband" giving Irma that awful hat?
For some reason I thought there was a conversation where this was discussed with the family at dinner in the story. I suspect that when she saw the hat she knew Sirius purchased it on behalf of his father and was torn between disapproval and amusement.

Imagine Irma sending out a holiday letter at the end of the year, passive-aggressively roasting all of her family members, excluding Alphard of course lol her darling golden child.
Honestly the reason I headcanon Alphard as being the youngest child is because it feels like the most likely way for him to have gotten away with leading a life that didn't follow the family norm. Don't youngest children always seem to get away with things their elder siblings might not?

Pollux and his wife with two of his brothers. Marius who was a squib and Cassiopeia, she married Regulus I and had a daughter Araminta Melíflua (who is only mentioned in the books, but does not appear in the family tree created later by Rowling). I have a headcanon that one of Marius's great-grandsons is a wizard, he carries the surname Black and is from the same year as James Sirius, the two are inseparable friends.

Supernova Family Tree
Tumblr media
I got a comment on Supernova, asking for a family tree. it turns out that creating a family tree on a computer is a lot harder than I thought it would be! Also, I went back and forth on ages, so forgive me if the dates don't perfectly line up with canon (I had to change them around for some obvious points, like Pollux and Cygnus becoming fathers at 13 based on JKR's tree).
Below you'll find the text version of the tree. I hope this helps for any of you following this Tedromeda (and soon to be Remadora) angst fest! As the story goes on and more characters are added, I'll add them to the list, but this one should be good for the time being.

My mother didn't have a heart, Kreacher. She kept herself alive out of pure spite.
Walburga Black (1925 – 1985) was a British pure-blood Dark witch, the eldest daughter of Pollux Black and Irma Crabbe, the older sister of Alphard and Cygnus, the wife and second cousin of Orion Black, and the mother of Sirius Black III and Regulus Black II. She was also a member of the noble House of Black, an old wizarding family and one of the Sacred Twenty-Eight.
Walburga lived in Grimmauld Place starting at an unknown point in her life, presumably after she married her second cousin Orion. She died in 1985, but her portrait still remains at 12 Grimmauld Place. Walburga's portrait makes anyone not in the pure-blood elite quite uncomfortable in her home, by constantly shouting insults and epithets at them.

I watched it and it has this incredible Sirius vibe.
And now I have a new headcanon.
What if Irma Crabbe (Walburga's mother) was Thai, and Sirius and Regulus are quarter Thai, and Sirius looks like that? This is just wonderful and I really like this idea💘💘💘

My Headcanon about the Rosier and Crouch families:
Druella Black (nee Rosier) was the daughter of Matthias Rosier and Wilhelmina Rosier (nee Travers). Druella also had a brother, Evander Rosier Sr, who went on to have two sons, Evander 'Evan' Jr and Felix Rosier, who were both sorted into Slytherin like their father.
Mattias Rosier was the younger brother of Vincent Rosier. Vincent went on to marry Viola Crabbe, who was Irma Crabbe's cousin. Vincent and Viola had three children, Cornelia "Nellie" Crouch (nee Rosier), Antonia "Ana" Rosier and Nicolas "Nic" Crabbe.
Bartemius Crouch Jr was born to Bartemius Crouch Sr, a Ravenclaw, and Cornelia "Nellie" Crouch (nee Rosier), a Slytherin. He was sorted into Ravenclaw, unlike the usual headcanon of the "Slytherin Skittles", however, because of his family's close relation to the Rosiers', Barty and Evan were somewhat friendly before starting at Hogwarts the same year, even if Evan became better friends with Regulus and Barty grew closer to Pandora and Emmeline. However, around 3rd year, Pandora & Regulus became closer, and by association, Barty, Regulus and Evan began hanging out more.

Walburga Black headcanons
She was the first person who got expelled from Hogwarts life long (because of a crime)
She had no N.E.W.T. but was a more talented witch than both of her brothers
She was the first person who had to face the Wizengamot during her school days (follow by Bellatrix and later Harry)
She hated her mother Irma Black (née Crabbe) and had absolutely no respect towards her since she found out Irma was born as a member of the Crabbe family who was never listed in the ‘Sacred Twenty-Eight’
She admired her father Pollux Black with her whole heart but he never showed interest in his oldest female child at all
Her father saw in her nothing but a burden, whom he wanted to marry off quickly
She was a cruel person and a mad woman
Her traumatic childhood experiences (like all Blacks had, even them who don’t admit it) may be a reason why she was a terrible mother but they aren’t an excuse for her behaviour because she wasn’t trying at all to be better
Do someone has any more headcanons?

Walburga Black is a character I will never stop loving.
I think the general fanon, or so I've seen on TikTok, has done her a disservice by characterizing her as heartless and cruel when really, she's much more than that.
We know that despite disowning her own child, she's heartbroken when he runs away. She doesn't touch a single thing in Sirius's room after he leaves, I think because she wants to hold on to what she still has of him. She is a mother grieving the loss of her child and even if that's because he ran away, there's still weight to that grief.
A headcanon I have is that the reason Pollux Black was married and had children so young is because it was arranged by his parents as a reaction to his brother, Marius, being a squib. They might have seen having a squib child as a sign that their magic was running out or a bad omen to the family. I've always imagined the family is quite paranoid about those sorts of things. So they thought they needed to produce a new heir as soon as possible. We know from canon that Pollux and Irma Crabbe were married at thirteen and seventeen, respectively. They had children shortly after that. The first of which, being Walburga.
Walburga is a woman so she couldn't be the heir and growing up knowing that you were only born to satisfy a need for an heir, and couldn't even fill that role, must do numbers to a developing child. Continuing from that, it's entirely logical that growing up that way only fueled her obsession with the family's general beliefs around blood purity.
This feeds into a larger issue within the fandom which, again mostly on TikTok, is that so many characters are stripped of their complexity and nuance because of a want to say "fuck jkr! I'll write what i want" and while i fully support that statement I think it's much more impactful to reject jkr's harmful portrayals of women and take a female character that is presented as a villain and show them in a sympathetic light than to turn Walburga into a charicature of evil just so you can have Sirius as your tortured blorbo.
I'm sure all of this could be said more elegantly and I'm positive there are grammatical errors in there but my point stands.
TLDR; I love Walburga Black and I hate TikTok.

Pegasus Code Lore Basics & Terminology
The Black family is the monarchy of Wizarding Great Britain.
Durning his father’s reign, Pollux Black and his wife Irma had four kids: Walburga, Bellatrix, Cygnus, and Alphard. Their middle daughter Bellatrix Pegasus Black XV was a squib. Normally squibs were killed in the Black family, but she used a flying carpet to flee to a forest near a muggle town.
She survived and changed her name to Beatrice, then started going by her middle name Pegasus. Pegasus married Hugo, a muggle who took her last name. Pegasus, Hugo, and their muggle and muggle-born descendants make up the lost branch of the Black family.
Pollux and Irma Black were the king and queen from 1947 until 1997 when Pollux lost a challenge to his granddaughter Bellatrix Lestrange.
Terminology
Mage: a squib or muggle who uses enchanted items, potions, alchemy, or magical runes to harness magical powers.
Bluemud: a term for a muggle-born who is part of an old pure-blood family due to a squib ancestor. (Combination of the words blue blood and mudblood)
Elemental Magic: the default or raw form someone’s magic takes when not shaped by spells, the type varies between individuals but is usually an “element” such as fire, water, or ice.
Overactive Elemental Magic: a condition where someone’s attempts to cast spells results in the caster’s elemental magic instead of the spell’s desired result. There are varying degrees of severity, from just the first attempts at a spell producing elemental magic to being unable to use spells at all.
Sapphire Flames / Bluebell Flames / Royal Fire: dark blue flames that are the unique elemental magic of the Black family.
Merlinean: a direct descendent of Merlin.
Morganian: a direct descendent of Morgana through Mordred and a member of one of the three Morganian Families.

Pollux is an icon! I love that Sirius not saying hello to Irma was his biggest gripe lol it's actually very wholesome.
I don't think he actually understands what the Order of the Phoenix is, he just knows Sirius was up to some mischief and he was at the party and didn't say hello to his grandmother who has probably been bitching about him being missing from family events for three years.
