I already wrote this down yesterday in post tags, but i think it deserves its own post

The Magnus Protocol is Somewhere Else, where the Eye instead of feeding on the archives, feeds off of a (vague yet menacing, perhaps?) government agency, spying on people through cameras and such. Since we know the new protagonists are british civil service agents, it makes sense that in this universe there isn’t a Magnus Archives, but rather a Magnus Agency, which then has a Magnus Protocol for encounters with the entities. 

The whole reason i think this is Somewhere Else is because after the stream, i was really fucking confused about why they used ‘’Oh! Hello, are you still listening?’’ and ‘’Statement Remains’’ to announce what seems to be a companion piece to tma, rather than a sequel. 

So i think, jmart is in this other reality where the Archives don’t exist, therefore the tapes probably aren’t what’s feeding the Eye and its avatar, but rather cameras and whatever governments use to spy on people (pigeons?)

So i say, martin didn’t immediately shoot the tape because he knew it wasn’t harmful in this place, (but that raises the question, why did the tape turn on by itself) and jon is stuck in some sort of semi permanent eldritch state, hence the ‘’statement remains’’. 

Or, i think this is more interesting, the tape clicking on is literally jon trying to communicate with martin, and martin takes it as him still listening and jon responds as statement remains in the sense that he is still there, that he remains, even in his odd catatonic eldritch state. 

Oh and the 2 new protagonists? They work for a certain artifact storage, are fake dating and find martin and jon living in the vents of whatever archive replaced the magnus archives
