Do you think that it's out-of-character/a retcon for Edelgard to know from the start that Alear's a dragon but not take any issue with that because she sees them as a benelovent and kind person?

It seems like a pretty blatant attempt on IS' part to whitewash Edelgard's speciesism away by rewriting it so that she doesn't have any issues with dragons and only hated Rhea because she thought she was a bad leader imo; it's at least consistent with her Hopes characterization, where that aspect of her personality also got scrubbed away, but i still really dislike just how hard IS has been working to remove her biggest character flaws in every game she's been in post-3H.

You are a child of the goddess. You must not be allowed power over the people!

Benevolent or not (I mean, she says this to Flayn, a cleric!), children of the goddess should not rule over the people because they are children of the goddess ; aka, regardless of their actions, pointy ears cannot have power over round ears, period.

And bear in mind, this quote isn't from CF, but from either SS or VW, aka routes not centered on her (and supposed to be more neutral than AM where she is the final boss).

Supreme Leader doesn't like pointy ears, period. In CF, she develops a bit more (especially in the non Pat'd version), but she thinks they have no human understanding/feelings, and refuses to even consider the idea of "coexistence", the "masquerading as humans" part comes to mind, and ultimately her question being roughly should humans be led by inhumans or not? And if you exclude inhumans because they are, non humans, rather than excluding them based on their actions, well, the issue is not their actions (or lack of), but their nature.

So yes, our Supreme Leader would have had qualms about Alear and the existence of a Divine Dragon, while she knows how to not spout her racist/specist theory at the wrong time, it generally makes no sense for her to be chummy with Alear.

(bear in mind Supreme Leader is the only Lord who has no support with a Nabatean!)

FWIW, Heroes doubled down on her specism while mumbling something about "Gods" (but then, F!Edel talks to Mila the lizard lady, and not to Ashera or Yune!) but yes, if Supreme Leader has to be an emblem and exist alongside Corn, Miccy, Ike, Leif, Celica, - well, any of the FE Lords, she had to be heavily retconned because her views can't match at all with theirs.

The Fodlan Emblem though was pretty much decried everywhere for this, and also the fake "uwu we're all fwends" when Supreme Leader tried to ice the two others in FE16, and shits on their countries or their characters at any given occasion.

Nopes scrubbed off the specism, but only because Nopes doesn't fully explore her reasoning like Tru Piss does, there's no occasion to rant about evil pointy ears and explain why they suck to a party who... follows her because they want to be paid (Barney).

However, given how in Golden Shower, she outed Nabateans as "not being what they seem" to convince Clout - I'd say it still exists and is still one of her reasons to want to get rid of the CoS and Rhea : her ears are pointy.

will on the surface looks like your average made in a lab pathetic sadboy meow meow uwu bean and explaining it to other people he does give off that vibe, if the fanbase for this game was bigger i definitely think he'd become the kind of character people hate/find annoying, or hate the fans of him.

but god playing the game it does communicate that feeling of his, just... unfair life quite well. it's funny, he mentions to tanya he had a good childhood but if lila's dialogue to hutchins abt his mom is anything to go by it probably Wasn't, with such an overbearing smothering mother, he only calls his mother great and forgives her because what else can you do? pushing all his negative experiences under the rug and telling himself it wasn't that bad (which, ME TOO BITCH!), the isolation and bullying he experiences after his mother's death (which was always there tbh, but just amplified after her passing) and of course. The fucking cult. which is always, literally always, a horrible dangerous thing. and the manipulation and false sense of security and then betrayal he goes through with it. the game does a good job making you feel awful for this kid without making it cheesy or feel repetitive/done before? idk.

but at the same time, on the topic of his childhood specifically, i do think the game takes a jab at audiences who constantly try to project themselves onto a character/story or make it about them, their inability to enjoy and empathize a story that is unfamiliar to them and is about experiences they haven't had... i forgot where she says it but at the detectives office she can say "it isn't always about Yu" and, when asked about what she is, she teases "or am i another metaphor for mental abuse that people have seen a dozen times already?" and ANOTHER line about this topic im forgetting again.. with this in mind i feel like will's mom might just be overbearing and smothering and really awful that one time, but genuinely otherwise a good mom like lila says? his relationship with his mother was not necessarily traumatic but just one that was very particular, specific enough that it shaped will into the person that led to... the events that happened, happened. like lila and her own connection to the empress/mother archetype....

this isn't to say it's bad to project your feelings and experiences w abuse and similar stuff on will though, i sure as hell know i do LOL. but i do wonder if, by doing so incessantly i am doing something the very game criticises. thinking i can only enjoy this character and this story if i see myself in it, and making it about me/my experiences

As a follow up to last week's top/bottom post, i guess part of what kept me from identifying as butch for a long time, is that i am also both in my writing and as a person fascinated by feminity.

Like i know, to put it in the most fucking programmer terms ever, that butchness does not deeply equal masculinity, but I guess i was influenced a lot by how butchness in media/large fandoms as a spectrum ranging from "skinny cis girl in a leather jacket" to "trans masc uwu smol bean".

But also, wanting to get more femme so you can get more butch is kind of a weird gender which I guess goes back to the whole: complicated relationship to womanhood.

Tying it back to my whole "fascination with femininity" (which yes i know is a phrase the terfs are weird about but w/e): I find that high femme identity, or rather the heteronormative bastardization of it, tends to be portrayed as aspirational, rather than just that, an identity.

A phrase I have said A LOT when describing my gender is "I shouldn't have to wear dresses and 20 types of makeup to be recognized as a woman". And I think subconsciously that has also had a big influence on how women are portrayed in my writing.

Like, to compare and contrast: In the Burning Kingdoms (this series will not leave my brain), empowerment is very much correlated with beauty; Malini spends most of the first book imprisoned and in a drugged stupor. Unable to care for herself she stops bathing, her hair gets tangled, and she walks around in rags. The once she's freed, her first act is to get cleaned up and put on a fancy dress, which signals she's ready to take the fight to her brother.

And again, yeah that is just the kind of character Malini is right? Her power comes from being able to play whichever version of herself will garner the most sympathy - and there is no sympathetic version of an empress in a strictly patriarchal society that is not both regal looking and smoking hot.

By comparison, in my own writing, specifically "bury the antlers with the stag" Jaina is shown as the complete opposite. Her empowerment comes from being able to march into a room bags under her eyes, hair a mess, breath stinking of gas station coffee, and go "listen up idiots".

Like I don't think one approach is more "inherently feminist" than the other, its about the varied experiences of being a woman, and by extension the different ways empowerment of women and people with feminine adjacent gender experiences can be represented.

My question is how did Zixin and Chongyun meet? Why does Zixin assume they're so close? What is her perspective on her feelings changing from the prince to chongyun ( because clearly despite him rejecting her multiple times shes head over heels regardless )

oooough this is going to delve into spoiler territory……..

the OG!manhwa’s plot is as such:

it begins with FL entering the capital, and meeting the various MLs. she meets the crown prince while wandering the palace and he is charmed by her innocence and wants to fool around with her. the FL then goes to the ball to meet high society, only to be harassed by yun jin, who somehow dislikes her for “no reason” (her lack of etiquette in high society). she runs off in distress, and meets chongyun who comforts her and reassures her, claiming that he has no prejudice against her, and that he understands her POV.

then they part ways, and meets the crown prince, who chats her up, devilishly handsome and flirty, contrasting the soft and friendly chongyun. kisses the back of her hand and whatever. she kinda falls for him. he’s all like “interesting” “this woman is not like any other women”

new ball scene, she is invited by the crown prince, and she sees chongyun behind yun jin and xingqiu, who stare down at her with the usual villain contempt. she gives a TED talk about acceptance, only to be laughed at by the villains (while many side characters are all clapping because she’s so uwu inspirational). she goes to the balcony, and meets third ML, and talks about her sad life, thus swaying him into joining their forces.

the crown prince finally appears, frowning and asks what she’s doing with another man. blah blah she tearily says that she hates the way she’s treated in high society and by his sister, and crown prince goes “oh, i’ll burn the world for you baby. support me in taking the throne and i’ll make you empress.” how can any lady turn that down?

he starts courting her, and chongyun gets worried and tries to warn her of his reputation, but she doesn’t believe him. but he’s too kind and passive to fight her, and just lets the misunderstanding fester.

ballroom again where she wears the dress CP gifted her and the crowd goes wild.

yun jin tries to assassinate FL (carriage scene), and she tells the crown prince about it. he draws the conclusion easily, and tries to bait yun jin into trying it again, to get more solid evidence. 

this time, it’s poison with assassins in the imperial palace — the crown prince smacks it out of her hand and chongyun defends her. they’re fighting and distracted and FL is about to die, but chongyun takes the fatal blow for her, and to honour his memory, she swears to take down the nobility. 

so she helps the crown prince with newfound vigour, using third male lead to help him and crippling xingqiu financially. this man goes crazy and tries to kill FL with his sword, only to get killed. yun jin just gets sent off to a foreign country as a political piece, never to bother them again. happily ever after.

but firstly: chongyun unknowingly intercepted zixin in the first scene. next: male leads don’t even have chemistry with the female leads ANYWAY. i mean come on. how many second male leads get introduced halfway through the novel and never get touched on again. chongyun had one (1) outing with her, and she was immediately sold. manhwa logic.

Eridan x Gamzee - <>!!! I need this okay Eridan needs to be a dumbass about clown religion right up until he realizes it's the one thing Gamzee is actually serious about I HAVE THOUGHTS.

Eridan x Signless - :3c This one involves multiverse transversal. Universe A, instead of Signless getting killed and becoming a martyr, the empire decides to break his spirit by making him fight gladiator style. He wouldn't fight for his OWN life but knowing it's the only way to keep Disciple/Dolorosa/Psiioniic alive.... :3c When Feferi takes the empire, she tries to keep Eridan out of her hair by giving him this old Empress touched relic. uwu And when Signless dies for one reason or another Eridan tears the universes apart to get a new one- One who Isn't Perfect. But he can mold them... Right? Obsession!!! Might actually do this as two distinct Things. Part A as Eridan x Signless part B as Eridan x Kankri?

On that note an ACTUAL Eridan x Kankri <3< nonsense. They would be terrible for each other and I love it. Also Kankri's just fun to write.

Gideon Nav is Actually G1deon's kid AU. G1deon lands on the ninth chasing Awake Remembrance of These Valiant Dead Kia Hua Ko Te Pai Snap Back to Reality Oops There Goes Gravity. Lands far enough after that Gideon has been claimed by the ninth house, well before the baby murders. This is mostly about G1deon interacting with the other lyctors and Jod, deciding to keep Gideon on the ninth (and the ninth Intentionally not killing her b/c u can't kill the Saint's Kid. Not when he's visiting every year.) Maybe last chapter is Gideon and Harrow go to the lyctor trials but she recognizes Cytherea... Idk. It's in my head now and I can't get it out.

Chapter 23: Line without a hook

“Welcome to Kiyos’! What can I get ya-“

Turning, Y/N faced the door, being faced with Keiko smiling. Letting out a small gasp, the girl goes around the counter, giving Keiko a hug.

“What are you doing here?” Y/N asks, walking back around the counter as she leans forward, keeping the conversation going.

“Out with Suna?” A blush comes on Keiko’s face, with Y/N’s laugh coming up into a smile as she begins to giggle. She passed the order to one of her coworkers, already knowing what Keiko would want.

The two girls have kept in contact since they’ve last seen eachother, so Y/N has known about the “thing” between her and Suna.

“Yeah, we’re meeting at the highway park to gang out.” Keiko says smiling. Y/N slightly wiggles her eyebrows at the girl as Keiko casts her vision onto a random napkin.

“I really do like him, Y/N, I just don’t know what the fuck to do about it.” Keiko says, leaning forward to rest her head in her hands. Y/N pats the girls head, wiping off the counter.

“Suna likes straight forward girls, so if you plan to confess just get to the point. Besides that, he already likes you, that boy isn’t exactly subtle.” The two laugh, Keiko standing back up and handing her payment as she grabs the pizza box from her.

“Text me if you do it today, if anything I’ll call you later!”

Keiko gives her a wave, exiting as Y/N sighs, placing her pen in her pocket as she runs a hand through her hair.

“Who was that?”

The girl let’s out a slight yelp, placing a hand over her heart as she tries to control its rapid heart beat. Akaashi snickers, coming her mouth slightly.

“Sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you- HEY!”

Y/N smacks his arm lightly, rolling her eyes with a smile as she waved to a coworker going on their break.

“A friend of mine that I met through Atsumu, she’s sweet.” Akaashi nods, understanding the information as the door rings.

A group of 3 girls come in, Y/N giving him as small wave as she leads them to a table.

“Alright ladies what can I get for-“

“We’ll have a small pizza and a soda.” One of the girls says, scrolling on her phone as she mumbles the order.

“Sorry ma’am I’m going to need you to repeat that-“

“Small cheese pizza and a soda, go.”

What did this bitch just say-

The girl waves off Y/N, Y/N’s eyes slightly widening at the attitude from the girl. Akaashi tilts his head in confusion at Y/N’s face, but she shakes her head, lightly pointing towards the table she was just at. She gives the order to another co worked, sighing as she rests her hands.

She grabs the pitcher of soda, bringing it over to the table.

“Here you are!” Y/N says with a smile, however, none of the girls look up, just ignoring her. She lets out a slight huff, walking back towards the counter, however trips lightly over something. Turning around, she sees one of the girls foot placed out, the 3 snickering as Y/N continues back on her way.

Akaashi comes back from giving the check to another family, seeing Y/N’s distressed face.

“I’m about to sock her-“

“Y/N we do not resort to violence”

“No, we resort if they resort first. One of the chicks tripped me and snickered, ugh.” Y/N runs a hand through her hair, picking up the phone to take another order.

After a few minutes, the tables order is ready, as Y/N goes to grab it, Akaashi grabs it first, giving her a smile as he walks towards the table. For the first time, the three girls lift their eyes, looking at the eye candy that just walked in front of them.

“Hi there! I didn’t know we had such a cute waiter~”

“Yeah, the girl you tripped is a delight, very pretty and yet you didn’t treat her too nicely.” He says, going to walk away as one of the girls grabs his wrists, batting her eyes at him with a smile as he yanks it away.

“Wait!”

Akaashi turns tiredly towards the girl, placing his other hand over his wrist from her grip.

“Are you single by any chance?” The girl says, giving him a smile as she places her face in her hands.

“There’s already someone in mind.” Akaashi looks up, seeing Y/N smiling at a little kid as she places down one of the pitchers, still carrying another.

“What, miss dirty ass apron? What does she have that I- I mean, that any other girl doesn’t?”

“Well, she’s oh she’s a lady,” He says, a smile coming to his face as Y/N passes, brushing her shoulder with his as she walks past him.

“and I am just a boy.”

He lets out a sigh, slightly wiping his hands in his pants as he walks away, hearing one of the girls huff in annoyance as Y/N gives him a smile, waving as she goes towards one of her other coworkers.

It’s not that he doesn’t believe he doesn’t have a chance, it’s more worrying that he lost his chance.

After all, currently his plans are just a line without a hook.

Two weeks after Wei Shuilan’s full-moon party, Lan Xichen orders Wei Ying to get some fresh air and take a trip down to town with the juniors. 

“I’m ordering it as your physician,” he scolds, as Lan Wangji kisses his husband’s forehead and slips a packed lunch into his qiankun bag, just in case Wei Ying doesn’t like any of the delicacies Caiyi has to offer; having A-Lan altered his sense of taste, among other things, and made him more partial to sweet and bitter flavors as well as spicy-sour ones. “You haven’t left the Cloud Recesses in months.”

“Xichen-ge,” Wei Ying says, rolling his eyes, “you try taking those stairs when you can barely fit through the door. Or fly in a straight line without overbalancing, for that matter.”

He has a point, Lan Wangji thinks. A-Lan is a very round baby, big enough for her age that some of the guests at the full-moon feast asked if they were holding the party late, and it had certainly showed on Wei Ying’s slender figure in the weeks before her arrival.

“Well, you ought to go now,” Lan Xichen urges. “It’s a wonderful day, and A-Lan’s asleep. Go stretch your legs, and then come back and rest as soon as you feel tired.”

So Wei Ying had gone, leaving the Cloud Recesses with a kiss for Lan Wangji before flying off on A-Yuan’s sword and vanishing into the cloudy mist hanging over the Caiyi River.

After that, Lan Wangji settles down in the jingshi to wait for his husband’s return, placing his baby daughter on the bed beside him and starting on the mountain of official correspondence he’s been neglecting since A-Lan was born. Most of them are congratulations and well-wishes for the baby, along with a select few (which Lan Wangji sets on fire the second he opens them) consoling the Chief Cultivator for the one child of his blood being a daughter, and assuring him that the next baby will surely be a boy. 

Upon further reflection, Lan Wangji points a finger at the ashes in the hearth and incinerates them a second time. The thought of his little daughter ever facing anything but the honor and worship due to an empress sets his teeth on edge, and it takes only a moment of thinking until he decides to put off answering the guilty clan’s request for a second representative in Lanling’s council for as long as he can.

But unfortunately for him, the sound of the snapping fire jolts poor A-Lan awake, and she gives a soft, confused little gurgle before lifting her head and looking around. Lan Wangji lifts her into his lap, humming Wangxian beside her tiny ears as she begins to whimper—but his efforts are in vain, because the baby bursts into tears and refuses to stop crying no matter what he does to calm her. 

“A-Lan,” he says, more than a little shocked—because he has never heard A-Lan cry like this, not since that first shrieking wail when she first found herself out in the world six weeks ago. But A-Lan keeps crying, even after he tries changing her smallclothes (needlessly, since her diaper was freshly changed when Wei Ying left the jingshi) and puts her in another blanket to keep her warm, and no amount of rocking or singing or even a cool bath proves useful in the slightest. 

“What do you want, sweetheart?” Lan Wangji asks urgently. “A-Lan, baobei—”

Shuilan only draws her tiny legs up to her chest and sobs, rubbing her fat fists into her eyes as if the whole universe was against her, and the realization hits Lan Wangji so suddenly that he nearly falls to the floor, baby and all. 

“It’s because Wei Ying isn’t here,” he says wretchedly. “It is, isn’t it? You’re not sick, surely—he’s coming back, A-Bao. Don’t cry, your A-Die is coming back.”

But with such a little baby as A-Lan, how was she to know? All A-Lan knew was that she spent the first ten moons of her life safe inside Wei Ying, listening to his precious heartbeat and kicking out at his affectionate touches when he tried to feel for her head or her hands, and then she was in his arms instead, but still never so far away from him that she could not hear his voice. And now Wei Ying is gone, and A-Lan has rightfully taken his absence for the calamity that it is. 

Lan Wangji remembers his sixteen years of mourning after Wei Ying fell from his grasp and plunged to his death in Qishan, and wonders how frightened Shuilan must be that Wei Ying has disappeared without any explanation her infant mind can understand. Neither of them have left her side since she was born, so for one of her parents to disappear without explanation, and for it to be Wei Ying who had disappeared—

He nearly bursts into tears himself, just thinking about it. 

Naturally, it is at that moment—with half of Lan Wangji’s layers sliding off his shoulders, A-Lan screaming herself hoarse, and sweat dripping down her father’s pale face—that Lan Qiren lets himself into the house, apparently expecting to find a peaceful nephew and great-niece before he walks into the middle of a virtual tornado instead. 

“Wangji?” he calls, as Lan Wangji drags himself into the front room in all his miserable, disheveled glory. “What is the matter? Have you fed her?”

“I have fed her, changed her, checked her temperature, and made sure all her clothes were loose enough,” he says, distraught. “Perhaps I will take her to the healing ward, just to make sure she is well. Good afternoon, Shufu.”

“You examined her with your lingli, didn’t you? She’s not sick.”

“No, but—”

“Give her here,” his uncle sighs, holding out his arms for the child. “Now,  bring me that square blanket on the divan, and watch closely.”

While Lan Wangji watches, Lan Qiren lays the blanket out on the bed and folds it into a triangle, and then he places A-Lan onto it with her fluffy round head above the folded edge and packs her into a tight bundle with one arm waving freely outside it. 

“Shufu,” Lan Wangji ventures, brow furrowed. “What are you—”

“Quiet,” Lan Qiren instructs him. “Pay attention, Wangji.”

He folds up the bottom corner of the blanket, laying it over A-Lan’s chest and her chubby bent legs, and then he folds the other half around her like a bamboo string around a zongzi, trapping her flailing fist against her body before handing her back to her father. 

“There,” he says, satisfied. “See?”

A-Lan’s sobs are already calming down, and a moment later she blinks in confusion and goes straight back to sleep. 

Lan Wangji gapes at her. “What did you do, Uncle?” he wonders. “I already tried wrapping her, but this…”

“That is how a baby should be swaddled,” Lan Qiren scolds. “You and Wei Ying wrap her like a pancake roll, and it does well enough most of the time. But when a child this small is in distress, it can be helpful to remind them of their time in the womb, and put them in a similar position with a swaddling blanket. What made A-Lan cry so?”

“She missed Wei Ying,” Lan Wangji says dully. “He went to Caiyi with Sizhui and Xiaohui, and she woke early from her nap and cried when she realized he was gone.”

I remember weeping because Wei Ying was gone, he doesn’t say. She seemed as heartbroken as I was, back then. 

“Ah,” his uncle murmurs. “A word of advice, Wangji. When you are overtaxed, and dealing with a child in distress, your discomfort will inevitably worsen theirs. I learned this by trial with your brother, and it ended with him stopping his tears and laughing for me because he hated to see me cry.”

It sounds so much like Lan Xichen that Lan Wangji feels his throat swell. “En?”

“In such times, seek help before you become overwrought,” Lan Qiren advises him. “I am here, as is Xichen, and the nursery teachers who cared for you both when you were little. You and your husband are not alone, in any aspect of your lives, and it would be a joy to all of us to aid you.”

And then Lan Qiren makes tea and shoos Lan Wangji back to the bedroom, where he sinks down onto the bed with the baby snoring quietly in his arms and falls asleep himself.

When Wei Ying returns an hour later, he declares that everything must have gone perfectly for both of them to be so at ease.

“I didn’t want to leave you!” he laughs, cuddling a squealing A-Lan to his breast and waving a handful of new toys over her curious little face. “But you were as cool as a cucumber, Lan Zhan! Why can’t I be like you?”

“It was not so smooth as I hoped it would be,” Lan Wangji confesses. “But everything was all right in the end, xingan. My shufu is a very good teacher.”

Not exactly my best recomendation seeing I kind of dropped reading it but I still go back from time to time. Main character is currently on her 3rd re incarnation and set on being a surgeon and making use of all her knowledge on earth. It's actually really interesting! Reason I dropped is more related to the romance, but that is simply out of my own personal preference and I don't consider it bad at all.

Sapphire and The Guardian of The Spiritual Plane know each other, as to be expected since Sapphire has had so many reincarnations. Sapphire tolerates “Spira” (as Sapphire calls her) since she’s fairly calm, but they’re not really “friends”. 

 Backstory: Sapphire was born the eldest child of the Emperor and Empress of the Vesper Empire in the year 1483 B.T.C. 

The Vesper Empire was in civil war for the third time within that century, and because of that Sapphire lived a life of being sheltered away from the world due to the chaos that raged throughout the entire country. While she never liked the company of people very much, she even admitted she grew lonely with her parents almost never paying much attention to her, unless they were berating her for being born a girl, and instead focused their time on ruling, ending the civil war, and bearing a son.

Sapphire most often than not spent her time reading and studying, and she became almost entirely ignored by her parents when her younger brother was born when she 5, another brother 2 years later, a sister 1 year later, and a final brother another year later. While she was arranged to marry a foreign duke from a whole other continent to marry for an alliance, she didn’t seem to mind, not at all caring for her future husband.

It may be time to mention that Sapphire had been followed around by the ghost of a 10ish-year-old girl, who called herself “Marie”. She refused to tell Sapphire who she was, thought Sapphire had many suspicions, such as the idea that maybe Marie was one of her ancestors due to her very fishy resemblance to one of the previous empresses of the Vesper Empire, Empress Ophelia II, who lived about a thousand years ago and had the exact same hair and eye color as Marie and similar facial features, and so Sapphire began to believe that Marie might be the deceased daughter of Empress Ophelia II, though she couldn’t be sure because most the records of Empress Ophelia II were lost in a fire three centuries ago. She also began to search and find the diaries of some of the previous residents of the palace, aka her ancestors, and found many mentioned a girl following them around, though whether this is Marie or some other girl, Sapphire was unable to tell due to the diaries all being in poor condition.

When Sapphire turned 15, the legal age of maturity at the time, she was married to the foreign duke she had been arranged to marry years earlier. Several years later Sapphire would birth twins at age 28: A daughter and a son she named “Luna” and “Glen”. 

However, she would die several months after their birth due to the civil war that was still raging, being killed in an attack on the palace along with one of her younger brothers, sacrificing herself in order to make sure her twin children escaped with their father, who would flee to his home country until the civil war was over.

During the attack Sapphire finally learned the identity of Marie- she was, indeed, the daughter of Empress Ophelia II, and had remained in the Mortal Plane as a spirit because she wanted revenge against her killers: her own family. Apparently, she had been outcasted by her family due to being born “insane” as her family labeled her- in reality, she suffered from schizophrenia, constantly hallucinating and seeing things that weren’t there, causing people to label her as crazy and become outcasted, which she, unfortunately, ended up developing due to genes on her father’s side causing it to run in his family. Eventually, Empress Ophelia ordered her killing because she was apparently an “Embarrassment to House Vesper, and deserves to die so she doesn’t end up snapping on us all. Better she dies than put my only son in danger due to his own older sister.” And so Marie swore revenge, haunting her mother for the rest of her days, and then customarily began to haunt at least of the current generation of House Vesper’s offspring as “revenge”. 

Sapphire would then be stabbed to death by one of the rebels, her last words being “Traitor! You have betrayed your country! I-” before being stabbed in the head.

Sapphire then returned to the Spirit Plane with all the memories of her past reincarnations, meeting yet again “Spira”, aka Guardian of The Spiritual Plane, and deciding she was done with reincarnating, asking her to allow her to go to the Heavenly Plane. Spira agreed only if Sapphire would become the new Guardian of The Heavenly Plane due to the last one “retiring” (read: killed himself after so long of being “alive”, uh, it happens? It was a one-off thing, totally…totally a one-off thing that hasn’t happened several times because it’s not just the goddesses who eventually go crazy from living for so long…totally…) and Sapphire agreed.

Sapphire went to the Heavenly Plane, and now resides on top of a tall mountain on the outskirts of the (now city) that was built there by the residents of the Heavenly Plane. 

She really hates people coming up to the mountain to bug her, and basically shuts out anyone who does decide to climb the mountain to talk to her for whatever reason. She sometimes leave the mountain to talk to people if she’s been alone for too long but overall prefers being by herself, reading, painting, and listening to nature overall. 

(And thinking about how her children are doing, and what happened to them after the battle which she perished in because she really doesn’t know that she has A LOT of descendants).

Okay, but, I really love the flat colors and posing that you did here. It really addss to the personality and flavor of the character. I can already feel what she’s like just from the way that she holds herself, and the way that she looks directly at the viewer. You can see how withdrawn she must feel from others. It’s a kind of attitude that you can’t miss once you see it, if that makes any sense, haha! 

And I mean, being alone can be the best thing for some people, and for others, it may not be the most idea situation. Well, it was an easy out... or an easy-in, if that’s how you want to see it. She clearly has a lot on her mind but not many people wants to talk it through with.

possibly gets into fights with either the moon penguins or express owls, not sure if he was a good kid or a trouble maker but he’s mildly respectful just because they’re adults, hisses a lot tho

climbs a lot, somehow keeps getting scrapes, rolls his R’s a lot more as a kid, thicker accent, higher pitched screech voice + tantrums, feisty, tries on grooves’ outfit

breaks into his own train and dj grooves (maybe some other birds + hat kid) have to get to the front and pull the breaks because the conductor’s not strong enough

SURPRISE BISS!! Quarantine got me messed up with boredom so I came up with this for our Admiral Angst. This was totally a completely new ball game for me since I have no clue whatsoever with domestic scenes but I want to thank my amazing friend on Instagram who helped me through this. Without her, I wouldn’t even have a story out in the small amount of time I posted this. Also, tagging @official-alex-cyprin​ cause I love them. 

AN; This song was inspired by the song ‘Beautful’ by Bazzi featuring Camila Cabello cause like... feels and more soft uwu feels for our favourite Empire royal couple. Can anyone say “Power Couple”?

Summary; Admiral Angst can’t sleep but our big brain MC is like “I wanna stay with you till you fall asleep” 

“Stars… she’s beautiful” I whisper to myself, lightly swallowed by the gurgling of the overarching aquarium installed over the head of our bed. The faint glow from the water encased in the glass and refraction of the inner lights mirror onto her face.

Like a dream.

The thought of the piles of official documents sitting on my desk sours my mood as I make my way towards the ship’s office. Well, no time like the present… and time is of the essence. Time to get to work.

The bed seems cold… too cold.

“Babe?” I blindly feel the bed next to me but feel no presence of him. Still warm, though. He couldn’t have been gone for too long.

“Antares?” Wiping the sleep from my eyes, my vision becomes clear as I scan the expanse of our shared quarters. Nowhere to be seen. Knowing him, he probably couldn’t get to sleep and currently in the office getting some extra work done. He always does this; working to the bone until his body finally gives in before his brain does. Sure, it pains me to see him exhaust himself, but these are our responsibilities. Becoming royalty for the Empire, we knew of the consequences and sacrifices we would have to make. Even if that means being more dedicated to our jobs than our personal life, even each other. There are times when I miss him dearly, my body aches for his touch that I have been severely thirsting for. Sometimes it would be hours, even days where I wouldn’t even get to say ‘hello’ to him. However, every time he lays his eyes on me from across the room, I can still sense his love, the pride that he holds on me… and that is always enough to make me push myself. Day by day.

“I should go see him” Untangling myself from the messy sheets, I climb out of the bed. I search for my jump-suit, but instead spot Antares’ cape haphazardly thrown onto the foot of the bed, slightly grazing the cold floor. He always loved me wearing his uniform, a freshly discovered turn-on we both found out when we first started dating. I wrap his cape around me as if my own to shield my underdressed body from the coolness of the ship’s hallways, and anyone’s eyes if they so happen to be awake as well and see my state of undress. One run-in with a bashful Corvus is one-too-many for my liking.

Making a detour to the mess hall, I make two cups of herbal tea and grab a small pastry, heating it up slightly to pair well with the beverage. Juggling the tray of food and keeping the cape wrapped around my body seems to be a bit of a task in itself but I know Antares will appreciate the gesture… if he doesn’t kick me out the second he see me and sends me off to bed like a child attempting to play hooky.

Tiptoeing into the office, his back is turned against the door as he gazes out towards the outer expanse of the unexplored galaxy. The stars twinkling against his skin makes him seem more ethereal than he already does. God, how beautiful he looks. Quietly placing the tray down on the cushioned stool, so not to make a noise, I wrap my cape-clad arms around his torso and feel him tense up a bit as my warm skin meets his cooler torso.

“Is that my cape you’re wearing? Naughty, naughty my love”

I smirk into his back, “I knew you’d love it, Antares”

Your touch is heaven-sent

“You should be asleep, my empress”

“The bed was too big and cold”

“You’re working again?”

“No, still, my love. I couldn’t sleep…” He sighs in defeat, so I kiss between his shoulder blades. I feel him soften and sag in my arms. I know he’s exhausted, so I lead him to sit down on the couch and offer him the tea and pastry before sipping on my own mug.

“So… this is what it is now, huh? Never ending paperwork?”

I look into the contents of my mug, hiding my eyes but slowly nodding as if agreeing with what he just said.

“You think this could ever change?” he piques

“Probably not, we knew what we were getting into even as far back as staging our coup against your sister”

We fall into a comfortable silence. The slow humming of the ship’s engine on auto-pilot the only sound we manage to hear.

“Do you feel lonely, MC? When I’m not around?”

“Sometimes, but I know you’re not doing it on purpose. We’re both busy people anyway… ya ’know? Royalty and stuff like that”

He chuckles slightly behind his hand. He looks at me seriously.

“I mean…”

He grabs my hands from within the cape’s fabric

“Would you like a child?”

The sudden request makes me choke on air

“A-a chi-child? Like… Right now?”

“Hmm… I see this has uneased you a bit”

“Yeah… you shocked me a bit” shyly focusing on a very non-decorated spot on the floor to casually avert my eyes from Antares. Of course, I would love to start our family. In the future, but I’m still yet to become comfortable with my duties as the Empire’s standing lady.

“Maybe another time, then? We can have this discussion”

He holds me within his embrace for some time, cocooned within his cape as we both stare out into the galaxy beyond the window he was looking out of before.

And this is why we got to touch

Sometimes words are not enough

“It’s nice… these small windows of time we have just to be ourselves without any interruption”

“Yeah… I miss this, I miss us…”

Antares’ tablet pings from his desk next to the seemingly untouched towers of papers. Knowing that the first alert means the official start of the new trading day for the Empire, we both groan knowing that we’re both still too tired to respond.

Oh my god, where did the time go

I wish the hours would go slow, how is it 6 am?

Unraveling himself from the cape he responds to the tablet, but then buries himself within the cape and urges me to lay down on the couch with him, spooning me from behind.

“I bought us some time, let’s take a nap, MC. I’m nodding off like a lucky cat’s paw”

“Is our bedroom too far for you to walk? You gonna fall asleep in the hallways?” I giggle into his bare chest

“No, my Beautiful. I just want to make the most of our time together before we have to face the music again”

6. How has this pandemic been treating you?

despite having swollen fingers for days, i’m still alive so yay! i worry a lot for my family, especially my younger sister. i don’t really mind being cooped up in the house but i really really miss my friends and well, having a phone (context: my phone got stolen before quarantine started and now i haven’t had one for months). my birthday is coming up and i’ve never been more stressed in my whole life because everyone feels bad for me. if we’re delving more into my feelings, besides the usual: the angst and craving for death and the stress that comes with the date of my birth, i’ve been feeling a little sick. the heat is getting through me and i’m very close to moving into my fridge.

Tana and Nadia first meet at the end of Tana’s first year at the Prakran Royal University, which I imagine is the state-sponsored higher education institution in the Prakran capital. Tana is there on a scholarship; Nadia is there to represent the royal family. Friendship with homoromantic subtext ensues

Picture this: it’s the last day of the semester. You’re running from the library to the office of your Classic Lit prof to hand in your final paper before the Scholars & Benefactors dinner later. While running down the hallway at a full sprint you almost crash into the prettiest girl you’ve ever seen, except you make a sorry excuse of a swerve and pretty much trip on your own feet and fall on the floor. Your meticulously handwritten paper scatters. A wind picks up one of the sheets and you despair, except—when you turn around the woman you almost bumped into has caught it. She’s holding it aloft while late afternoon sunlight dramatically streams through the arches of the university’s on-point architecture. She hands it back to you before helping you pick up the rest. Your paper is safe. You’ll make it in time. She helps you up and tells you to be more careful before sweeping gracefully away in her lavender dress. You think you might be a little bit in love

Imagine, also, that later you are at the dining hall with the other scholars and the benefactors walk in—Prakra’s Empress, her consort, and their seven children, the youngest of whom is the woman who saved your Classic Lit paper. Inwardly you are screaming because she is not, as you had assumed, an older student, but is instead the youngest Satrinava, seventh princess of Prakra. rip you, i guess

Anyway three years later Tana graduates starts working as an archivist, during which she slowly and steadily builds up a friendship with Nadia based on mutual respect and a shared love of literature and poetry

Aaaaand then Nadia leaves to marry Lucio. Sad

Fastforward to like nine years later: Nazali strolls up to Tana at her library job to inform her that the Vesuvian Palace has an opening for an archivist and "my sister sure could use a friendly face once she wakes up from her coma 😉😉😉". So Tana goes, because would YOU say no to the second princess of Prakra?? I think not

So! Nadia wakes up three months before the game starts and she doesn’t remember jackshit about the last nine years but oh tHANK GOD, her old friend from Prakra is here somehow, fantastic, that makes two people she can trust while she figures shit out

And the romance proceeds more or less the same as in the game from there uwu

Bonus tidbits:

Tana, unlike Nadia, has remained very close to her family despite occasionally feeling smothered and a little like an underachiever (because she’s a non-magic user in a family with several magicians). She understands that while her family is far from perfect, they do most of the time act with good, if misguided, intentions, and thus her influence is instrumental in helping repair Nadia’s relationship with her sisters

Nadia, for her part, helps Tana overcome her bad case of impostor syndrome and assures her that she has value beyond her academic achievements and pretty face. Tana has a lot of hidden insecurities that she tends to overcompensate for, and Nadia does her best to curb that habit by treating her as a partner and equal in every way

They’re a good influence on each other, is what I’m saying

They bond over literature it’s their Thing. Both of them can just whip out lines of poetry at any given moment nbd. If you think they haven’t made out in the library, kissing between reciting lines of sonnets to each other, then you’re wrong

Which isn’t to say they don’t bond over more athletic pursuits!! Tana also knows how to ride horses (among other things 😏) so like that romantic horseback racing in Nadia’s route is canon for them. Also that other part in Nadia’s route where she and MC go goat ghost hunting in the woods? Imagine that, but instead of the apprentice it’s Tana with her bow because she used to kick ass in archery competitions. Real couple goals right there

rika “i’m doing two triple axels in one program” kihira is in the first group??? well it’s a shame she missed that 3A because the rest of the program was great. I’m curious to see how she would’ve scored had she landed that 3A.

much much better for angela wang compared to last week

kailani craine did NOT deserve to finish second to last. she skated cleaner than many of the girls in group 1, and also her program is good so i really don’t get it

i’m a new skating fan so i didn’t know who alena leonova was going into this, but it’s great to see her still at it, and skating CLEAN. her reaction to that was absolutely adorable

mariah bell’s program works SO well for her, and she’s one of the best spinners around. hot take: mariah bell, future US national champion. let me speak this into existence.

ok who chose mai’s music??? the program kind of falls flat for me, which is a shame because mai is such a lovely skater. i think i would’ve put eunsoo in third because she has an edge on the programs

satoko’s skating skills !!! wow watching her skate is just so relaxing. her flow is so smooth and she covers soooooo much ice. glad to see her finally getting the PCs she deserves

(also...stephane’s english-lit professor aesthetic !!!)

i love this program on vincent. it’s dramatic enough without looking fake

dimitri is SUCH a performer, and that first jump was HUGE. it’s all there, but he has the same problem as misha (kolyada): he has to get in the right headspace, and when he does, it’s going to be even more beautiful

IT’S THE YEAR OF THE UNCLES!!! first uncle michal and now uncle sergei is looking to join him! he was fantastic. his music suits him so well and i think he should’ve topped the short program. reminder to self: never overlook sergei voronov. his edge over his russian competitors (kolyada and aliev) is that he has the confidence and the consistency.  (i know liza is only 21 but it feels like she was from a different time, and she’s been around so long, and she’s a russian lady, so i’m counting her as part of the uncles/aunts. this is THEIR year)
