in which alhaitham is working and forgets about your birthday for the second year in a row.

angst w/comfort ; fluff ♡

★ : a/n : iimmmm baaaack!!! rubs hands together deviously… anyways i got the WORST writers block while writing this it took literal days to finish😭 im so happy to finally be done with this.

your birthday last year was…. well, interesting. your boyfriend, alhaitham, got so caught up in work that he forgot about your birthday! you believed he wouldn’t forget this year.. but oh, you were wrong.

you woke up in an empty bed, which was typical. usually, your boyfriend already gone. usually, he would leave a note on your bedside table. today was different.. there was no note. if this were an anime, there would be a question mark next to your head.

“maybe he took off work today!” you thought.

you hopped right out of bed and ran to the kitchen, excited to see your boyfriend, hoping for a sweet birthday gift.

you arrive to a completely empty kitchen.. not a soul in sight. your heart drops..

had he forgot again? you thought.. you shake your head.

no way, maybe they just didn’t let him off work.. im sure he’ll be back real soon. you thought with enthusiasm, cracking a smile. taking a seat on the couch, warming up with the blanket that smells just like alhaitham, and turning on the tv.

then.. a few hours pass.. nothing.

a few more hours.. something!

you hear the door open, and your mind goes straight to alhaitham. you run over to the entrance of the home you share with your boyfriend and best friend, in which you were immediately let down. instead of your gray haired boyfriend, you see the blonde haired architect.

“hey, y/n, happy birthday!” he smiles balancing a cake in one hand, and a beautifully wrapped gift in the other.

your smile and shoulders dropped, “…hi kaveh.” you mutter, a defeated look on your face. you left the door open and turned around, on your way back to your seat on the couch. you grab a pillow, and hold it close to your chest. you lie down and let out a heavy sigh, your eyes fluttering shut.

kaveh raises an eyebrow at your antics, quickly placing the items in his hands down on your kitchen counter…

…the counter where you were hoping to see a gift for you on your birthday from alhaitham.. or at the very least a cake.

your heart sinks again at the thought that alhaitham had forgotten your birthday the second year in a row.

you feel tears in your eyes begin to well up, you use the pillow to cover up your face. you feel something pulling the pillow from your face, you open your eyes and are faced with your childhood best friend kaveh sitting in front of you on the floor.

“hey, hey.. what’s wrong? what’s got the birthday girl so sad?” he reaches his hand out to your sad face to wipe your tears. you let out a full blown sob, tears beginning to stream down your face.

“h-haitham.. he,” you choke on a sob “i think he forgot about my birthday again.” you hold your face in your hands, hiding your face in embarrassment.

you once again feel kaveh’s warm touch, his hands pulling yours away from your face, looking at you ever so gently.

“again?! my god.. that jerk..” he grumbles, his grip on your hands tightening with frustration. you wince and he’s brought back to reality.

“sorry.. i just.. seeing you cry over some guy who isn’t even worth your time seriously pisses me off.” he says, followed by a sigh.

“kaveh.. he still loves me.. he’s just caught up in work.” you give him a weak smile. his heartaches to see you like this. he opens up his arms to you, and you allow him to pull you in as you softly wrap your arms around him.

something so platonic to you.. was also something that made kaveh’s heart pound. he yearned for you, but you wanted that so-called “asshole” of a man. he’ll never believe that he really loves you, no matter how many times he sees that soft glare that alhaitham gives you.. and only you.

as you pull away, he feels yet another heartache. i could treat you so much better.. he thinks.

“y/n.. im gonna go give that boyfriend of yours a stern talking-to.” he declares.

“wha..! you don’t have to do that you know..”

“no, no. it’s okay. ive already got a pretty good plan in mind.” he winks cheekily.

“..aah.. okay.” you sigh nervously, twiddling your fingers.

kaveh stands up, waltzing over to the counter to pick the gift that he placed there once before. waving you a quick goodbye and then seeing himself out.

you lay back down on the couch, staring at the ceiling longingly. you pick up the tear soaked pillow and hold it close to your chest.

meanwhile….

kaveh just arrived at the akademiya, angrily searching for your idiot boyfriend, that beautifully wrapped gift in his hands that he was going to give to you earlier that day.

then, peering his head into alhaitham’s office, he spots the loser he was looking for.

knocking on the doorway, he strolls right, alhaitham giving him a confused glare.

“..what do you want.” he sighs.

“deliver this to y/n for me, i don’t have time to give it to her today.” he insists.

“..for what?” he raises an eyebrow slightly.

hearing him say that made kaveh furious. how could this so called “genius” be so oblivious?! kaveh tries his best not to flip.

“…for their birthday?” kaveh says pretty convincingly.

alhaitham’s eyes widen. how could he have forgotten?? immense guilt washes over him.

“wow.. did you seriously forget? sometimes i wonder if you really deserve them. you’re such a jerk…” kaveh shakes his head.

alhaitham doesn’t even have it in him to argue with his roommate. “..i.. deliver it yourself. i have some business to attend to.” he quickly struts out of the room.

kaveh let’s out a wide grin once alhaitham is out of sight, knowing his work was done here, all while thinking this never would’ve happened if he was your boyfriend.

alhaitham rushes to the jewelry store, with the most expensive, beautiful jewelry, already picturing the perfect gift in his head.

he buys you a beautiful ring.

the ring was a three stone diamond ring, the prettiest diamonds he had ever seen in his life. it reminded him of you, because you were the prettiest person he had ever seen in his life. it makes him smile a little, but he couldn’t really smile knowing he had hurt you heavily.

he made his way to your shared home.. secretly hoping kaveh would move out so he could have the house just to the two of you.

he stood silently before opening the door, quietly sighing before pushing open the door. he kicks off his shoes and sit them neatly on the rack, knowing it makes you happy to have a clean home.

he feels himself being a little bit nervous as he steps farther into the house.

suddenly, he walks into you sitting down at the kitchen table, crying your eyes out while you stare at the cake kaveh got you, knowing you’re alone once again. the flames on the candles die down slowly, as the wax of the candle begins to melt. your head rests on your knees, as your feet peer over the edge of the seat.

his heart drops completely. he couldn’t believe he had left you so utterly alone.

“..y/n..”

his sudden words startle you, and your head darts up from your knees, looking at him with wide, glossy eyes.

he couldn’t stand to see you like that anymore, he places the small bag containing the gift he got you on the counter and rushes over to pull you into a warm embrace. his head resting in the crook of your neck. you wrap your arms around him right away.

“im so sorry for forgetting, my love…” he mumbles into your neck.

“..haitham.. it’s.. it’s okay.” you press a kiss onto his cheek.

he feels the corners of his lips curl up and pulls away from you. “..i know i said this last year… but i promise i will never, ever forget again.” as he raises his slightly curled pinky.

alhaitham thought pinky promises were childish, but he knew you found them endearing, and you believed in them entirely.

you interlocked pinkies with him with a wide grin, your face still stained with tears.

you slightly peek over his shoulder, seeing the shiny silver gift bag sitting pretty on the counter.

he sees where your eyes are looking and he chuckles a little. he turns around and grabs the bag, then handing it to you.

he sees the glint in your eye, and it warms his heart. you gently open up the bag seeing a small black velvety box. you picked it up and opened it carefully, a small gasp falling from your lips.

you look at it as it sparkles with another one of your silly grins.

“..haitham.. it’s so beautiful.” you feel tears welling up in your eyes once again.

“that’s exactly why i got it for you. it’s beauty reminded me of you, sweetheart..”

“thank you so much, haitham. i love you so much.” you slide the ring onto your finger and pull him into another sweet embrace, kissing his neck.

you pull away from him as he gently whispers,

“happy birthday.”

you look at his face and realize he’s giving you that soft glare. that soft glare that he gives you… and only you.

Also great for a Sunday movie night! 300mls warm water 3 scoops mix-a-mousse 1 scoop water flavouring Put it all into a bowl and whizz with a hand blender. Let the mixture settle. Scrape off the foam and pour into an ice cube tray. Silicone ones are best (easier to pop out). Pop in the fridge and within a few hours you have delicious jelly sweets for whenever you need them! I always have some ready in the fridge!
