The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows
gnossienne
n. a moment of awareness that someone you’ve known for years still has a private and mysterious inner life, and somewhere in the hallways of their personality is a door locked from the inside, a stairway leading to a wing of the house that you’ve never fully explored—an unfinished attic that will remain maddeningly unknowable to you, because ultimately neither of you has a map, or a master key, or any way of knowing exactly where you stand.

I'm lucky enough to have so many gorgeous books in my library that picking just one took a little while. In the end I picked a book I haven't shown on my blog as much as it deserves!
The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows by John Koenig!
It's a little hard to see on screen compared to in person but the gold foil starlit sky on the cover is so sparkly!!!

Aubadoir
n. the otherworldly atmosphere just before 5 a.m. when the bleary melodrama of an extremely late night becomes awkwardly conflated with the industrious fluorescence of a very early morning.
Etymology: French aubade (an ode to the morning) + abattoir (slaughterhouse)

Looseleft
adj. feeling a sense of loss upon finishing a good book, sensing the weight of the back cover locking away the lives of characters you’ve gotten to know so well.
Honestly this book is THE MOST BEAUTIFUL book I've ever read. Nothing else comes close. There may have been no characters in this beautiful work of art but, I still feel the loss of ending a good book. I still feel the tears i shed, the laughter I stifled and those AHA moments I had when I realized I am not alone in feeling these obscure emotions.
If you need the ebook, just drop your email in the comments or send me a message ✨😊 I love sharing beautiful books. I'll also appreciate book recommendations.

I found this book accidentally left in the kid's section of a second hand bookshop.
I opened by chance the «Montage of Attractions» section. This is the first definition I read.
I have been there. I'm going through it. Please don't touch me I'm getting emotional.
