Really likes the wales’ new instagram videos but the captions are definitely lacking.

So. I absolutely agree, doesn't even matter that I can't remember what posts you were talking about, I know I'd agree lol. But I think a result of being here for 9 years is that I've learned to pick my battles. To give the Dorothy Parker quote I live by when it comes to blogging: "I don't have to attend every argument I'm invited to." If I let myself I would be posting about KP's captions every single time they do anything. But now I'm at a point where I just don't have the time or energy for all that. So for some things I think are really important I will talk about them more often. But I tend not to talk about something if I know isn't going to change - for example, I now just accept that the Waleses won't work in school holidays and I'm over it - or if it's subjective. I will either just stay quiet or I'll share my views every now and then but not every time it comes up! With their social media I've said a few times that I'm not a fan and Grace and I did talk about it in the podcast (a little plug, Episode 21) but I think I avoid talking about things that are subjective so for example their baffling use of emojis. If I do comment I keep it to things like the lack of actual information because I feel that's a failure to do their job.

So this is my way of saying basically that you are right, I don't disagree with you, but I have come to a place where I just can't find the energy to debate it so I just let it go on Tumblr - and then write passive aggressive comments on their posts when it gets too annoying! haha

I can definitely see Van moving forward with the band in the same sort of vein as Kevin Parker with Tame Impala; KP writes and records all the music, but has a regular band with him to perform it on stage.

I’d love to know if Van took up another instrument or skill in lockdown, feel like we could get something very different from him this time - especially if the songs are about the band fallout (pun not intended), gimme those heartbreak anthems McCann!

I can’t imagine him taking up anything new musically (he kinda feels a bit set in his ways idk) but it’s a possibility I suppose! Piano ballad maybe? 🫠

I can’t wait to see what’s coming. If he is producing music with other musicians it will be really interesting to see what new flavour they bring to the CATB sound. Can’t wait ❤️

things i did this summer that brought me joy

i went on a series of dates with a gentleman caller, K

he took me mini-golfing and we made many jokes about balls

i took him to the arboretum, where he patiently waited for me to take pictures of trees and sculptures

he took me to his favorite place to go walking (the path around a community college)

i made out with K in my car and the windows fogged up and i felt like i was sixteen again

k explained to me some stuff about glass structures and i forgot what it was but i like when people talk about things they know a lot about

i went to an old, empty arcade with K, who bought us $20 worth of tokens

i played air hockey and laughed my ass off

i played the jurassic park game with K at two separate arcades

i stayed out late into the night quite a few times and got to see empty roads

i discovered that italian beef and giardiniera are delicious on pizza

i went swimming exactly twice, but enjoyed it nonetheless

i went to denver thanks to the generosity of a dear friend and i got to see the art museum, got to eat delicious foods, and met new and interesting people

i rented a car and drove around denver vroom vroom

i sang in my car a lot

i wrote and published a big bang, my first in 4 years

i decided to go back to grad school

i won my SSDI case (first round approval)

i spent a lot of time in the library, writing on whiteboards

i knitted and bought a lot of yarn

i went to madison for my birthday with my sister

i met up with old friends in madison and denver

i started PO4

i went to Chicon and got to hug Jared and Jensen (thank you, 2019 past Cal)

i cheered as the Avs won the Stanley Cup

i saw the new jurassic park movie AND the new thor movie in theaters

i went on a date with a lady caller, J

i drove three hours to explore springfield with her

we ate delicious food, toured Lincoln's house, and played monopoly late into the night

i started role playing with a friend

i joined some discord groups

i read beautiful, wonderful comments from readers on AO3 and Patreon

i did a yarn crawl with my sister

i found a combo of medication that helped me stabilize my moods

i listened to a lot of orville peck and parker millsap

i read a lot of manga and graphic novels

i met up with my dear old friend, I

we ate al fresco at a mexican restaurant in Oak Park, where we dined on queso fundido, handmade tortillas, and ice-cold horchatas

we walked around and it started to rain, so we ducked into my car and talked for hours, i felt like i was in my twenties again

i ate cheap nachos and a paleta from la michoacana on a hot day

i forgave myself for a lot of things

i spent more time with extended family

i spent time with the gals and KP

i kept up with my long distance friends

i kept my hair shaved short

i caught up with two former coworkers

i kept all my doctor appointments

Ooh, good one! Katharine Parr 😌 though I am still finishing Becoming Elizabeth as I type this. When - or rather, if - Katherine is portrayed on screen, she tends to be pigeonholed by the same dreary stereotypes. I think Jessica brought something fresh and - dare I say - a little bit cunty to the role. Mostly I was happy to see KP depicted by an age-appropriate actress, bc uh … war flash backs to … Jonathan and Joely in the Tudors. Whereas with Jane Parker I understand (I never finish the whole thing oops) they went down the typical villainess role? Maybe I’m wrong about that, like I said I didn’t finish it, but she looked gorgeous regardless so there’s that!

Convergence on Lawndale - Part 8

“What’s happening, Amiga?” Jane asked.

 “The Doctor, again,” Daria answered.

 That was all Jane needed to know. “Gotcha.”

 Daria then filled her in on what was happening, including the portal to Middleton.

  “I see,” Jane said when Daria had finished.

 “We need to look out for unusual activity.”

 “Of course.”

  Quinn met her friends. “Quinn!” Stacy Rowe called out.

 “Hi, Stacy,” Quinn said warmly.

 “You were with that guy again, weren’t you?” Sandi Griffin asked in an icy tone.

 “Sandi!” Quinn cried out. “Not right here…”

 “And why not?” Sandi asked.

 “I don’t want the whole school to know!” Quinn retorted.

 “I guess not,” Sandi said.

  “Peter Parker!”

 Peter turned to see the Asian American women coming towards him. “Angela Li, is it?” he asked. He resisted the urge to compare her to J. Jonah Jameson.

 “Yes. Principal of Laaawndale High! I’d like to know why the School District forced me to accept your employment here!”

 “I not certain why?” Peter said quietly. ‘UNIT will have to smooth some feathers over I guess,’ he thought.

 “Now I have to find where to put you at short notice!”

 “I could help with either Science or Art,” Peter said.

 “Science may not be a good idea,” Li said. “The head teacher is a misandrist!”

 “Right.”

 “Art would be a better option,” the Principal said. “Accompany me to the Faculty Office!”

 “Of course,” Peter responded as he followed Li.

 Clare Defoe was surprised when Li entered the faculty office. “Angela?”

 “Good Morning, Claire. This is Peter Parker, a new assistant who has started here today. I am assigning him to you.”

 “I wasn’t aware of this,” Claire said.

 “It was a last minute decision by the District,” Li admitted, before leaving the room.

 “What area of art do you specialise in?” Claire asked.

 “Photography.” Peter answered.

 “I see,” Claire said. “It so happens that I do have a photography class this afternoon. How are you in the dark room?”

 “I’m competent,” Peter answered.

 “Good.”

  Kim and Ron arrived at Cranberry Commons. “It’s about the same size as the Mall in Middleton,” the latter said.

 “This is going to take a while,” Kim realised.

 “Probably too long,” Ron said.

 “But we’ll try to be quick.”

  The first period went by without any problems. Something happened in the second period. The electrical power in the school flickered.

  In the TARDIS, an alert came up on the Scanner. “What?” the Doctor asked as he looked at it. Something was happening. It was interfering with Lawndale’s electrical grid. He set it to scan closer.

  In Cranberry Commons, Kim and Ron saw the flicker.

 “Uh oh!” Ron said.

 Rufus agreed with him.

 “Something’s happening,” Kim commented.

 “But what causing it?” Ron asked.

 “No idea, but we have to get back to the Portal.”

 “Right behind you, KP!”

  The Doctor narrowed down the source of the interference. It was somewhere between the location of the device, and the location of the portal. He decided to investigate it straight away. He didn’t have anything else to do anyway.

  As they left the Mall, Kim took out the Kimmunicator and used a scanning function to try to find the source of the interference. The information came back a few minutes later. “It seems to be coming from somewhere downtown.”

 “Not from the portal?” Ron asked.

 “No, but somewhere to the south of it.”

  With the flicker, Peter’s Spider Sense picked something up. ‘Uh oh!’ he thought. He saw Quinn shoot a glance in his direction, along with one of her friends. The one with the pigtails. The latter one came over. “There’s nothing happening, I think.”

 “Um, that’s not why I came over,” the girl said, although her voice betrayed the lie.

 “Then why?” Peter asked.

 “Um, I’m trying to make sense of these camera settings,” she said giving him the sheet he had handed out earlier.

 “You don’t need to know all of them,” Peter said. “Um…”

 “Stacy,” the girl said.

 “Stacy. You’re worried about the flicker, aren’t you?”

 “Um, yes. It wasn’t the usual flicker!” she said quietly.

 Peter figured that there was something about Stacy but he couldn’t put his finger on it. “Something may be happening, but let’s focus on the classwork for now.”

 “Um, sure.”

Let’s Talk About Pistol Caliber Carbines…

Some years ago I had the itch for some unknown reason to pick up a CZ Scorpion Evo. As ugly as the CZ Scorpion is, there was just something about having a short rifle-like package that was shooting a pistol caliber, in this case it was 9MM. Now many people will debate the effectiveness of the 9MM cartridge and that’s a discussion for another day, but there is the allure of having a high capacity compact package. Many will use their PCC for home defense, competition or even as a truck gun that can carry a lot of firepower, but can be hidden out of sight when not needed. But let’s get back to the CZ Scorpion. For what it is, at the time, it was a reasonably priced entry into the PCC world. The entire gun, sans the barrel and some hardware are made of high strength polymer. The trigger is probably one of the worst triggers out there and it has an annoying ambi safety that will dig into your shooting hand. But hey, it’s a low priced PCC that can be upgraded if so desired. It had a number of different barrel lengths available at the time, a 16” and 8.3” version. The shorter “K” length 4.5” version had not yet been introduced. As short as the 8.3” version was, everyone wants to go even shorter. A few companies make aftermarket barrels, namely HBI and ILWT. I made the decision to get a barrel from ILWT and a shorter Midwest Industries hand guard from Brownells and do the conversion myself. I documented the conversion progress and released a series of videos on my YouTube channel which people still find helpful today. To address the horrendous trigger, I disassembled it, polished all of the surfaces and installed an HBI spring set. The safety can be ground down and many companies make aftermarket safeties. I chose a nice set from Parker Mountain Machine.

So I had my CZ Scorpion set up exactly the way I wanted it, but thought, there must me more out there to continue to scratch that PCC itch. I’ve always loved AKs and a couple of companies started producing readily available 9MM AK PCCs. Both Palmetto State Armory as well as K-USA had 9MM AKs. The PSA version was their own design, whereas the K-USA version was a direct clone of the Russian Vityaz. I chose to pick up the K-USA KP-9 and so happy that I chose to go that route. They do come in and out of stock over at Brownells, but can be acquired at multiple vendors. The KP-9 is an AK true and true, but uses a direct blowback system. The only upgrades I’ve done to date have been an ALG trigger. The KP-9 is an impressive piece of machinery and an absolute joy to take to the range.

So anyone who is into PCCs has to have heard about something called an HK MP5. The HK MP5 is truly an infamous and iconic PCC or sub gun that has been in service around the world for many decades now. Based upon a delayed roller action, it’s as smooth as butter to shoot as anyone who’s shot one can tell you. A true HK MP5 is quite hard and expensive to come by on the civilian market, but a number of companies make clones. I had the opportunity and picked up a Century Arms imported MKE AP5 from Brownells. MKE is actually licensed by HK, so these are true to the original design and all parts will interchange. So finally, I had achieved The top of the PCC wish list, an MP5! And it truly is the smoothest of the smooth when it comes to PCCs. I added a few upgrades to it, a Midwest Industries hand guard, SB Tactical brace and Magpul grip module. I always run my PCCs with a Rugged Suppressors Obsidian 9 suppressor and the MP5 seems not to care that it has that extra back pressure, it runs like a sewing machine.

So if you have that itch for a PCC, you don’t have to look very far and you will find a bunch of different options available to you. They range in prices from the super affordable to the wildly expensive, but there’s something for everybody. I was not sure where the adventure down the PCC path was going to lead me, but I’m sure glad I chose to start down this road. And who knows just where it’ll lead me next… B&T?

Irondad Tony teaching Peter how to shave.

Mom you’re amazing and I love you (also I have no idea how men shave so this is total BS with some help from the Gilette website)

“Alright, so first thing’s first, you’re gonna want to get your face nice and wet,” Tony instructs, looking at Peter in the mirror.

Peter’s nose scrunches up and his brows knit together. “Why?”

“So you don’t cut yourself by accident, kid,” Tony explains. “You want to look like a little kid’s art project?” Tony tries not to laugh at how quickly Peter shakes his head and splashes some water from the sink on his face. “Good, glad we’re on the same page. Now, grab the shaving cream and put some on your hands.”

Peter follows the older man’s words and doles out a generous amount of shaving cream before handing the can to Tony, who does the same thing. Watching out of the corner of his eye, Peter mimics Tony and spreads the shaving cream over the barely-there stubble on his jaw. When he’s sure it’s all worked in, he washes his hands.

Tony shows him how to make sure the blades aren’t dull or need to be replaced. Peter can see May peeking around the corner of the bathroom and he wants to tell her to leave, but he might miss what’s next and he doesn’t need Tony making fun of him for doing it wrong.

“Step numero tres,” Tony says, “wet the razor and use light, gentle strokes. You can go up or down, it doesn’t matter. Whatever feels most comfortable.”

Peter studies the way Tony does it first, all calm, cool, and collected. He tries to remind himself that Tony’s done it a thousand times before and that he shouldn’t compare, but it happens anyway.

Tony shaves one side of his face before turning. “Your turn, Underoos.”

Despite the nervous tremors in his hands, Peter lifts his razor and slides it down his cheek once, twice, three times. Each stroke is a little more confident than the last. His eyes dart to the side and he sees Tony beaming through the partial shaving cream beard he’s sporting.

“There you go, kid,” Tony says. “You’re getting the hang of it!”

Peter grins.

Silence passes between them for a few moments as they do what’s left. Then, out of the blue, Peter asks, “Mr. Stark, would you ever shave your beard? Like, completely?”

Tony stops shaving for a second and contemplates this.

“Yeah, sure,” he says with a shrug. “I mean, what’s the harm? It’ll grow back eventually, right?”

“Can I shave it for you?”

“Absolutely not!”
