6. What's something you have in common with this character?

Boy, this one made me think. LOL

I think the one thing I am proud to say I have in common with Rey is our morality, our understanding of the difference between right and wrong and always trying to do what's right. I have never been able to write Rey as turning to the Dark Side, and I don't think I ever will.

12. What's a headcanon you have for this character?

I headcannon that she is a very light sleeper, something that was necessary when she was living on her own in the wilds of Jakku, and that the first time she ever slept in a real bed (after she joined the Resistance) she became even more of a light sleeper, because she unconsciously felt like she wasn't supposed to be that comfortable. The first time she slept hard was probably after the Battle of Exegol, but that was so she could heal from her experience. The next time she slept hard was the first time she slept with Poe, when she finally let herself feel completely safe and comfortable.

9: favorite phase - PHASE ONE MY BELOVED, ugh i really miss when things were more simple. my favorite films (which kinda bleed into phase 2 ig) are the ones where we're shown the main players, get to know their origins, and are shown why we should care. Avengers will always be iconic, and i kinda wish the stakes had stayed centered on a simpler timeline (i am forever a avengers tower sideplot truther)

13: are you optimistic about the future of the MCU? - real talk? not really. but i'm just one person. the beauty to opening up the MCU to new characters is the potential for there being something for everyone; i just don't think i'll be included in that for a while. i haven't watched anything (besides Disney+ and a handful of phase 4) that marvel has put out since Endgame. so in general, i think the MCU has lost their mass appeal, but i don't think that will stop them from maintaining an audience. maintaining the quality of storytelling, however....

As typical for southern California, the afternoon was clear and pleasantly warm. Marc’s car was one of a handful of vehicles in the main lot, probably because it was Thursday afternoon. Visitors enjoying long weekends would arrive tomorrow. Jack’s Bronco was parked in a separate, smaller lot with two other vehicles. His boss Ana had let him off early since the day had been slow. Since Marc had bought the gear Jack had suggested—climbing shoes, a climbing helmet, a chalk bag, and chalk—Wednesday morning and had it ready to go in his rucksack, he’d been able to hop in the car to meet Jack on short notice. The Arabic book he’d been translating could wait.

Summer! I know our winter has been mild this year, but I love summer for more than warm weather. Crickets singing, birdsong, green, thunderstorms… I absolutely love summer!

I don't think it will surprise anyone when I say Star Wars, preferably an era after the Galactic Civil War and before the First Order (so no major war!). It's why I love all the new media that comes out. Being able to see how people live in this universe fascinates me.

What I finished this year.

The Last Wish Andrzej Sapkowski

This was my dive into the Witcher books after watching seasons one and two on Netflix. I read The Last Wish first based the recommendation of the article below. It's a fun read and a good introduction to Geralt and Dandelion (Jaskier).

Sword of Destiny Andrzej Sapkowski

The author uses Geralt, a man who is said to possess no emotion, to explore the human experience in a unique way. Enjoy the fantasy backdrop, but don't be surprised when you find yourself asking questions about morality, love, or the meaning of progress.

Go Tell the Bees that I am Gone Diana Gabaldon

The tenth book of the Outlander series. This installment continues the story of an ensemble of characters centered around the beloved Jamie and Claire. There are surprises and an ongoing war, but also the peace of the mountains, and everything is interwoven with love.

Small Magic - Terry Brooks

Fans of Brooks' various worlds will enjoy hearing more about and the characters that inhabit them. I thought the Landover stories were particularly charming, and I mean, dragon.

Star Wars Resistance Reborn - Rebecca Roanhorse

This book covers the time between The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker. It details how the few survivors of Crait work to rebuild the resistance. It also talks about the aftermath of Poe's mutiny. He has to find a way to recover his honor personally and in the eyes of the Resistance.

Dune - Frank Herbert

This book didn't hold my attention like I thought it would until close to the end. But it was interesting and epic in a different way than other sci-fi options. Also, Paul Atreides lowkey terrifies me.

I listened on Audible and the production quality was the best I have ever heard. There were multiple voice actors, sound effects, and a bit of music.

A Fractured Mind - Robert Oxnam

This is a fascinating personal account of Dissociative Identity Disorder. Oscar Isaac read it as he prepared to play Marc Spector.

God, so many, my list of A24 movies has drastically ballooned beyond just the company’s lot and expanding onwards. But, if I had to pick one, The Handmaiden because my friend got me the extended cut, with more character moments and more time to breathe, and I heard it’s a hell of a romance film, even on the onset. Sounds like it’ll be a treat! ❤️

The Green Knight is one of those films that I kick myself for not watching in theatres. It was so gorgeous in 1080p on a laptop screen, just imagining how it would’ve looked in 4K or beyond on the big screen, the visuals, the set design, the costumes, the colors, the cinematography of it... its beauty would’ve snatched my breath away. 🥺
