omgg i love your style, is beautifull how you draw Aziraphale and Crowley, but, omg will you draw more of chibi Crowley pls? (just if you want) ITS JUST SO CUTE 😭💕
One of my favorite parts of phase 2 (and indeed one of the few moments I resonated with IDW Prowl) was when the neutrals were coming back to Cybertron and Prowl said that he refused to let Autobots be pushed aside and overruled after they were the ones who fought for freedom for 4 million years (the exact wording escapes me atm).
And I mean, that resentment still holds true even once the colonists come on bc like. As much as it's true that Cybertron's culture is fucked up, and as funny as it can be to paint Cybertronians as a bunch of weirdos who consider trying to kill someone as a common greeting not important enough to hold a grudge over.... The colonists POV kind of pissed me off a lot of times, as did the narrative tone/implications that Cybertronians are forever warlike and doomed to die by their own hands bc it just strikes me as an extremely judgemental and unsympathetic way to deal with a huge group of people with massive war PTSD and political/social tensions that were rampant even before the war?
Like, imagine living in a society rife with bigotry and discrimination where you get locked into certain occupations and social strata based on how you were born. The political tension is so bad there's a string of assassinations of politicians and leaders. The whole planet erupts into an outright war that leads (even unintentionally) to famine and chemical/biological warfare that destroys your planet. Both sides of the war are so entrenched in their pre-war sides and resentment for each other that this war lasts 4 million years and you don't even have a home planet any more. Then your home planet gets restored and a bunch of sheltered fucks come home and go "ewww why are you so violent?? You're a bunch of freaks just go live in the wilderness so that our home can belong to The Pure People Who Weren't Stupid And Evil Enough To Be Trapped In War" and then a bunch of colonists from places that know nothing about your history go "lol you people are so weird?? 🤣🤣 I don't get why y'all are fighting can't you just like, stop??? Oh okay you people are just fucked up and evil and stupid then" ((their planets are based on colonialism where their Primes wiped out the native populations btw whereas the Autobots and OP in particular fought to save organics. But that never gets brought up as a point in their favor)) as if the damage of a lifetime of war and a society that was broken even before the war can just magically go away now that the war is over.
Prowl fucking sucks but he was basically the only person that pointed out the injustice of that.
And then from then on out most of the characters from other colonies like Caminus and wherever else are going "i fucking hate you and your conflicts" w/ people like literal-nobody Slide and various Camiens getting to just sit there lecturing Optimus about how Cybertronians are too violent for their own good and how their conflicts are stupid, with only brief sympathetic moments where the Cybertronians get to be recognized as their own ppl who deserve sympathy before going right back to being lambasted.
Like I literally struggled to enjoy the story at multiple points because there was only so much I could take of the characters I knew and loved being raked over coals constantly while barely getting to defend themselves or be defended by the narrative so like. It was just fucking depressing and a little infuriating to read exRID/OP
yes i'm rooting for m*leven breakup because byler is neat but mostly? i'm rooting for m*leven breakup for the sake of el and mike.
to me, their romance was always a puppy love born out of a combination of social pressures, naïve curiosity, and a lack of true understanding regarding intimacy and romantic love and what it really is. it was real in that they do truly, deeply care about each other and they are close friends, maybe even shared an attraction, but a maturing romance is so much more than that. they've grown up and out of being boyfriend/girlfriend, and that's okay! i think television/film needs to show more often that most of us don't have definite "soulmates" or first childhood loves that we spend our whole lives with. it doesn't mean these relationships meant nothing and didn't impact us, it just means they've run their course and that something else is in the cards, and this is part of life!
i've always felt el was at her best and most confident self when broken up with mike, discovering who she was and what she liked alongside another girl her age instead of just relying on mike for mentorship on how to live in the real world. she deserves more of an opportunity to find herself, her autonomy, and her independence, and to love who she is, and she's made it clear she's felt insecure in the relationship with mike because she isn't being loved and understood the way she wants, needs, and deserves from someone who is her partner.
also, it's okay if mike doesn't love her in "the way he should". he is not obligated to love her romantically and stay in a relationship with her just because she's a girl, because she "needed someone", or because he cares about her a lot. he shouldn't be pressured into a romance if it's not truly coming from his heart. he deserves freedom to find out and honour who he is, too, instead of just staying in his non-functional first relationship — one he got into as a child, essentially — and defining himself that way because it's what's expected when a boy and a girl are close. he loves her in some way, yes, but it's okay if he doesn't feel comfortable or secure being her boyfriend anymore, for whatever reason that is. he's felt insecure too, and that's valid and it matters.
they are their own people and are steadily growing and changing every day. they need time to figure out who those people are, and it's become clear (at least in my opinion) that those people aren't meant to be a couple at this stage.
they deserve freedom. they deserve to grow up and be authentic to themselves and not feel like they need to lie for the sake of a relationship. they deserve to move on from this version of their relationship that isn't making them happy and rekindle the best part of their bond: their strong, beautiful friendship. they don't have to be a couple if it doesn't make them stronger and better and happier people.
i think it would be healthy and wonderful for a show, especially one consumed frequently by young adults, to show a relationship starting, progressing, and ending on good terms in this way. sometimes things don't work out, and that is okay.
Tbh I've had a super hard time keeping weight on lately! It was super easy to gain the first like 160 lbs but ever since I actually became fat 1. Way less feeders are interested in feeding an already fat person, surprisingly enough and 2. My body just isn't as desperate to get bigger as it was when I was underweight! I gain easily but now I lose just as often. I've dropped about 15 lbs in the past month or so, mostly from not being able to eat enough, and it's bumming me out a little!
Suddenly smacked in the face by the implication of Romeo's message where he says "I remember you, so there's no reason for us to fight. I suppose."
I always thought the wording was weird, but didn't think too much on it... Until recently after we discussed some datamined stuff in the Carmeo/Promeo server. There's a scrapped line (where P was supposed to speak) that says "I may not remember, but I'm still your son" during the NP fight, and while the scrapped lines are their own can of worms, let's focus on the memory parts.
I had always thought that once a puppet woke up, they would just get their memories back. But the fact seems to be this: There are select memories that come back to give bits and pieces of their past that "wake" them up-- cause them to change, as we see with P and the necklace; As we see from the spliced memories at the Black Seaside. However, it might not be all one's memories that come back. Whether those spaces stay blank or come back over time, who knows.
What I'm trying to get at here is...
Romeo's memories might only consist of Carlo at the time of waking. Carlo was what woke Romeo-- "I remember you"-- He had the necklace, he knew from who it was; He recognized the face P was modeled after. "So there's no reason for us to fight, I suppose"-- there's a lack of confidence in the wording here. Friends aren't supposed to fight, right? That's what his memory tells him, at least.
And the only memories P tends to get in regards to his past? Those in relation to Romeo, his aspirations, and of his own death. Seemingly, these are the things most important to him.
They were the most important people to each other; They remembered each other, just one too late than the other.
Judging by some of the fanart I’ve seen, Aang’s elaborate Air Nomad tattoos are probably the only aspect of The Last Airbender movie that was positively received by the fandom.
The design of these tattoos were inspired by yantra tattoos from Southeast Asia. Yantra (यन्त्र) are sacred geometric designs utilized in many Indian religions. In Southeast Asia, yantra designs are paired with lines of Buddhist psalms, as the markings are believed to grant protection and good fortune to the recipient. These tattoos are traditionally done by monks with metal needles.
As a design concept, I think the decision to give Aang yantra-like tattoos was a clever touch. It’s a subtle way of telling the audience that the Air Nomads are similar to Buddhist monks. However, I must say that I’m not a big fan of the back tattoo. The design at the center of it looks more like a European alchemical sigil than a yantra and the cross imagery feels very out of place. But I will admit that the overall design still looks pretty cool.
If you’re interested in learning more about Yantra tattoos, known as Sak Yant (สักยันต์) in Thai, click here. If you ever wanted to write a scene or draw a comic detailing the process and cultural beliefs behind Air Nomad tattooing, Sak Yant tradition would be a good source of inspiration.
Like what I’m doing? Tips always appreciated, never expected. ^_^
The new A24 horror film Talk to Me uses possession and communicating with spirits as a metaphor for drug use. Perhaps it’s a little anticlimactic to say it point blank but the film isn’t exactly subtle in this regard (the plaster hand, supposedly once belonging to a medium is even used to hold a joint). It is not that this metaphor that is interesting but how the film uses it. Communicating with the dead becomes a party activity- I’m a social medium, not a real psychic.
In the beginning Mia is introduced to the hand at a party. After this first use Mia needs to recreate the party setting to get that second, third, forth hit. She doesn’t have a problem, she’s a social user. Mia has recently experienced a major loss, the death of her mother, and as a result she has been feeling isolated. These parties give the illusion of community, but when the going gets tough these people prove not to be real friends; bailing at the first sign of trouble, flaky and only helping when their own safety is in jeopardy.
While using the hand is described as feeling amazing, and the montages show a fun uproarious time, the scenes showing the possessions in real time are from an outside perspective, seeing the physical body and not the mental escape- it looks scary, the way pictures of heavy drug users are shown to elementary kids to scare them.
Many horror movies are in some regard cautionary tales. At there worst, and most famously, attributing sex and drug use with a ‘deserved’ violent death. Talk to me is a bit more gracious in its messaging but it is a warning. The title and the metaphor are in conversation with each other, Mia is really crying out for someone to talk to about her grief over the death of her mother, but instead she is filling the need by using the hand. Turning to the hand rather then reaching out results in Mia destroying her relationships, and in the films climax Mia loses herself to it, becoming entrapped on the other side, a spirit that the hand connects to unsuspecting partiers. Drug addiction can feel like an escape from grief and pain, like an amazing party - but it can turn in a moment, and when it does you might find yourself unable to escape.
