𝘼𝙙𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 ‘𝙠𝙖𝙮𝙖𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙥𝙧𝙤’ 𝙩𝙤 𝙢𝙮 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙪𝙢𝙚 🛶

My dad bought some kayaks this summer so the kids and I have spent time at Covenham Sailing Club - him and my Uncle have also got a 'lazer 4000 dinghy' so been great entertainment watching them capsize.

There was also an open weekend so Trix got up and did windsurfing plus she's also been up there for Scouts and has her Kayaking 1 and 2 badges.

Fun fact - when my siblings and I were younger we used to go to Covenham as my parents had a speedboat. I vaguely recall a banana boat one day. I also broke my toe there on a sew-saw swing as a child wearing the attire of tights, swimming costume and wellies - which involved a trip to hospital while wearing said attire then the next couple of weeks wearing one slipper with a pompom on with my school uniform.

I had loads of DMs this summer as I posted via stories of us going - so to answer some questions - the Reservoir is open to members (and fee paying non-members with RYA level 1 & 2) throughout the year.

The centre has parking, with changing rooms and hot showers. There is also a bar, which is usually open around sailing sessions. Boat launching is from the slipway and there are currently three jetties for mooring.

The access gates to the Reservoir/Sailing Centre and Club House are usually open during Sailing Club sessions, however for security reasons the gates to the centre are locked outside of club sessions.

Keys are available to members upon joining.

Covenham Reservoir is a 200 acre reservoir and treatment works constructed between 1963-1978. The reservoir was built next to the Louth Navigation canal and acts as a pumped storage reservoir from the canal. The Reservoir is approximately 1 km by 1 km in size and the depth is approximately 20m.

You can also walk around the Reservoir (getting them steps in) which takes about half an hour. Always good to take a picnic up, the dog and walk the kids to tire them out while other kids are doing things too (but with kids and pets involved it takes an hour ngl)

There's also a variety of bird life if you like bird watching - the amount of ducklings about were adorable!

𝙄𝙣𝙜𝙧𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨

• 250g plain flour

• 70g icing sugar, plus about 2 tbsp for dusting

• 8g vanilla sugar, or 8g caster sugar plus 1 tsp vanilla extract

• 1 tsp lemon zest

• 150g butter, cut into cubes

• 2 egg yolks

• 100g redcurrant jelly (or raspberry jam)

𝙈𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙙

STEP 1

For the shortcrust pastry, sift the flour and icing sugar into a mixing bowl. Add the vanilla sugar, lemon zest and a pinch of salt. Rub the butter into the flour mixture until it is incorporated and then mix in egg yolks. Knead everything into a compact smooth dough. Wrap the dough and chill it for 1 hour.

STEP 2

Remove the dough from the fridge and bring it to room temperature for 10 minutes. Form the dough into a long roll and divide it into 60 equal portions. Form a small ball from each portion and place it on a baking sheet covered with baking parchment (you will need two or more sheets). Press a dip (for the jam) into each ball with the handle of a wooden spoon.

STEP 3

Heat the oven to 200C/fan 180C/gas 6. Heat the jelly or jam in a saucepan until it melts. Use a spoon to fill the dips in the dough balls.

STEP 4

Bake for 12-15 minutes, then allow to cool completely. Finally, dust the cookies with some icing sugar.

They are a collective of creatives based in Louth, Lincolnshire, who collaborate with communities and under-represented groups to realise creative projects that celebrate individuality, local identity, local heritage and the creative force that exists within everyone.

They work on many projects to help improve the lives of others, and are very proud of the progress they continue to make.

They have two decades' experience in delivering local-heritage projects within the community. "We believe that non-elite heritage is of vital importance, especially for minority and under-represented members pof the community.

It's a Georgian market town which sits on the edge of the scenic Lincolnshire Wolds. The town is only a short drive away from the county's famous sandy beaches and has bustling weekly markets for you to sample some of Lincolnshire's finest produce.

As it's Coronation Day today...

When you meet the future king (now the King) and be your socially awkward, distracted self (me: "oh hi") I was taking selfies (obvz) and your baby is crying the whole time for no reason (she was fine!) We didn't meet Prince Charles, Prince Charles met us 💅🏻 and that's my Nana next to me she was so happy! I'm just awkward in all situations tbf

For info - a Coronation is the act of placement or bestowal of a crown upon a monarch's head. The term also generally refers not only to the physical crowning but to the ceremony wherein the act of crowning occurs, along with the presentation of other items of regalia, marking the formal investiture of a monarch with regal power

With the Queen passing, her son Charles ascended to the Throne and it's marked a new part of history. As King, Charles is head of the Commonwealth, which includes 54 countries, including 14, plus the United Kingdom, in which he is also the head of state. With Charles's ascension, his son William inherits his father's former title, Prince of Wales and becomes the heir to the throne.

I'm not a Royalist like my Nana is, who has grown up with admiration of the Monarchy.

What are your thoughts on the Royal Family? Feel free to discuss (in a friendly manner) your thoughts.

I appreciate the history and lineage but I'm not enamored (if that makes sense) but will definitely enjoy tea and cake at a street party though 😂 I see many opinions online, I just thought I'd share this as it's relevant content.

Many people have various views on the Royal family past and present but regardless of the negative or positive opinions there is such a vast history, stories and legacy.

Did you know - Queen Elizabeth II was the second-longest reigning monarch in world history, surpassed only by Louis XIV of France. The Queen served for 70 years while the “Sun King” served for 72 years - info from @guardian

The British monarchy traces its origins from the petty kingdoms of Anglo-Saxon England and early medieval Scotland, which consolidated into the kingdoms of England and Scotland by the 10th century. Monarchy is an old form of government, and the word has been around a long time! 👑

I feel bad for my mum - they had to go up there to manoeuvre me out and years later all she got in return for her struggles was a sarcastic bitch but hey I gave her some grandchildren so there's that.

I would say I'm getting wiser in my old age but this weekend I had a night out with the ladies, drank too many cocktails and shots, attempted terrible twerking then decided to do the splits and sprained my knee - so I can safely say no, I am not maturing 😂

I guess it's cheers to another year, cheers to getting out of bed and cheers to health 🥂 I'm still young... ish.
