Domino pile WIP update!

I've got the outline done and I'm pretty happy with it. I flipped it so Fives' tattoo is visible and I gave Cutup a pair of socks. I think everything else is pretty close to what I originally sketched.

Anyway, it is inspired by the fan-freakin'-tastic fic by meridianpony, Dominoes. A look at what Domino squad would do to stop Palpsy if they all made it off of Rishi Station. This is based on what I think will happen after the most recent chapter. It was a wild ride!

Now, on to colors! Should I try something fun or just the usual? I don't want to have to trace this again so I am hesitant to try anything too crazy. Hmmm . . .

Borderlands: Skies the Bodyguard 5

Skies meets the new Vault Hunters.

Chapter 2

In the middle of Meridian Metroplex on Promethea, four rookie Vault Hunters and one retired Vault Hunter fight through Maliwan soldiers to a weapons depot. They handle the first wave well, but begin to feel annoyed when four ships arrive.

The Vault Hunters take cover as the ships fire at them with turrets while unloading reinforcements. They’re pinned down, unable to even peek out and assess the situation.

Suddenly, another ship flies onto the scene. This one is much smaller than the Maliwan warships. It’s pill-shaped with wings on the side and thrusters on the back; it’s painted black with gold racing stripes and the words ‘Sky Rider’ on the sides.

A laser turret lowers out of its underside and begins firing at the warships. It knocks out the engines on the closest one, causing a domino effect as it crashes into the one next to it, and they both knock into the next one after that, until all four plummet to the ground.

All shooting stops as the Sky Rider hovers overhead. A hatch on the side opens up and someone drops down into the middle of the Maliwan soldiers.

Everyone watches with bewilderment as a lone woman with long, messy brown hair, one brown eye and one yellow, lands perfectly on her right leg. She’s dressed in loosely tied steel-toed boots and a one-armed, black trench coat over an Atlas t-shirt. Her right arm is robotic and black with gold coloured plating. Hanging off her belt is an ECHO communicator and a pistol holster.

Before anyone can question her, she draws a vintage Hyperion pistol, points it at a soldier, and blasts his face off.

The other soldiers immediately ready their weapons and prepare to fire. The woman digistructs an Atlas assault rifle off her back and unleashes a spray of bullets at some nearby soldiers, taking them out before they can attack. She rolls out of the way before others can hit her.

She grabs a small bomb from instead her coat and tosses it into another group. Before they can scatter, she activates it with a detonator and blows them up.

A few more perfectly placed bullets takes out almost the entirety of the group, leaving her standing amongst their corpses without a scratch.

A pyrotech heavy approaches. The woman grins with twisted amusement as he lifts dual flamethrowers.

The heavy blasts fireballs at her. She runs out of their way and charges him. He tries to burn her with his flamethrowers, but she jumps over the flames and lands on his arms. She lifts her right arm and a short, sharp blade extends out of the top of her fist. She punches through the visor on his helmet and stabs him right in the face. Blood and glass fly out around her grin as his body falls back.

She hops off the corpse, wiping the blood off her blade before it retracts back into her fist. Then she notices the Vault Hunters watching her and waves happily. “Zer0 my hero!” she sings.

“Skies,” the retired Vault Hunter, now the right-hand of the Atlas CEO, says with mild surprise. “I did not expect/ this. However, it is good/ to see you again.”

“Aw, it’s good to see you too,” Skies chimes as she pats Zer0’s shoulder. “Last time would’ve been…the party after weapons manufacturing perfected tracking bullets. Oof, that was a while ago.” She turns to the rookie Vault Hunters and smiles. “And you four must be the new Vault Hunters. My card.”

One of the Vault Hunters takes the business card she hands her and reads aloud, “Skies the Ultimate Treasure Hunter.”

“That’s me, baby!” Skies booms proudly, pointing at herself. “And what about you? What are you guys’ deals? Soldier girl, you start.”

“I am Moserah Hayussian Yan-Lun al-Amir Andreyevna,” she states, standing at attention. “Former soldier of Vladof’s Ursa Corps.”

“Moserah, huh?” Skies questions.

“You can call me Moze.”

“Alright, at ease, Moze,” she grins and nods to the next in line. “You?”

“I am Amara,” she states, “it’s a pleasure to meet a fellow ass-kicker.” “Thanks! You look like you were sculpted by Siren goddesses,” Skies comments, eyeing Amara’s tattooed biceps. “Kind of a turn on. Next?”

“Zane Flynt,” the older man states.

“You smell like gun powder and alcohol,” Skies comments, “also a turn on. And finally?”

“You may call me FL4K,” the large robot states, “you are a strong fighter. I would very much like to test my skills against you.”

“Heh,” Skies chuckles, “be careful what you wish for, big…guy…”

She trails off as she notices a skag behind FL4K. “Oh my god! Does that skag have a backpack?”

“That is my companion,” they reply, “Mr. Chew.”

“Awwww, Mr. Chew!” Skies squeals as she kneels down and wiggles her hands to the skag. He hops about happily and lets her scratch his neck. “Aw, you’re a good boy. Good boy.” Once she’s had her fill, Skies stands up and clears her throat. “Right. Well, I know badasses when I see ‘em. Although, Zer0 might be harder to convince. Don’t worry though; he’s actually a big softie.” “I resent that,” Zer0 grunts and Skies chuckles at him.

“Well, I’d love to stand around talking shit all day, but there’s a war going on and I need to make myself a major player,” she says, “Zer0, I’ve been trying to call Rhys but nothing’s going through. I’m guessing Maliwan’s blocked all communications. Can you get through to him?” “I am also blocked/,” Zer0 explains, “however, the Vault Hunters/ have found a way through.”

“Yeah, we called Rhys,” Moze replies, “just go to Watershed Base. Ask for Lorelei, tell her we sent you.”

“Cool, thanks,” Skies smiles, “I’ll see you guys around.”

She taps her ECHO device and digistructs away, fast travelling back onto her ship and flying away.

Meanwhile, at Watershed Base, Lorelei and some Atlas soldiers look outside through the garage door. They stare with disgust at the sky as Maliwan war ships fly about.

“I’m really getting sick of those ships clogging the sky,” one of the soldiers spits. “I wish they’d blow up or something.”

Suddenly, a couple ships get blasted out of the sky.

“Quick, wish for something else,” another soldier says as everyone stares with surprise.

A smaller ship parks overhead and a person drops out, landing down the roadway. The soldiers immediately take aim.

“I come in peace,” the person says, raising their hands. “I’m looking for Lorelei. The Vault Hunters sent me.” “I’m Lorelei,” she says, motioning for the soldiers to lower their weapons. “Who are you?”

Skies quickly approaches and hands her a business card.

“The Ultimate Treasure Hunter?” Lorelei questions.

“I’m a friend of Rhys,” Skies explains, “the Vault Hunters said you’re able to call him.” “Yeah, communications can get through here,” Lorelei replies and leads the way into the building. She takes Skies to a holo-projector in the middle of the room and activates it.

A hologram of Atlas CEO, Rhys Strongfork, is displayed. “Lorelei, what is it?”

“Hey, Rhysie, guess who!” Skies sings.

“Skies!” he exclaims, “you’re here! That’s great! We can really use your help.”

“Yeah, it sure looks that way,” she nods and runs her finger over her top lip. “By the way, what is…?”

“What?” Rhys questions.

“Nothing. So, how can I help?”

“Well, Lorelei knows more about what’s happening on the ground, so whatever she says.” “Cool. I’ll come see you soon.”

“Okay, take care,” Rhys smiles and hangs up.

“Alright, boss,” Skies says, facing Lorelei. “What can I do?”

“That ship of yours seems pretty strong,” Lorelei comments.

“Yeah, she’s tiny but tough.” “We have a lot of trouble with all the war ships. Maybe you can take some of those out.”

“It would be my pleasure,” Skies grins.

“Great. We can use all the help we can get,” Lorelei smiles gratefully.

Skies waves and fast travels back onto her ship. She flies off to decimate the Maliwan air force.
