not to get political but it's funny that the theme is based on a book that talks about social injustice, and that in fact a correlation could be made with the conflict in Gaza… and yet, while we see pretty dresses, people is getting arrested.
Anyway, here is a list of dresses/accessories that I think would have been nice to see, based on 3 key elements from the book "The garden of time": Nature, crystals and blood representing the anger of the people.
With this one I get serious. This dress refers to the forced marriage of girls.
What I take from this is the effect of the hands.
They could have taken a risk and included something like that, symbolizing the people trying to climb over the walls of the palace and in the process touch on social issues like, FOR EXAMPLE, Palestine. THAT would have actually meant going with the theme.
But anyway, Bread and circuses.
Nicola and Bella who goes every year not going to the met gala because of Palestine and how vocal they are about it! The fact they weren’t invited because of this is very telling but I’m so proud of them and especially Nic I new Bella not going was that reason bc her sis Gigi is very both sides bs and they like that bull over there SO!
could you imagine how many people these celebrities would help if they used that money to donate to Palestinians? To the people in Sudan, in Congo, to those in Brazil who are losing their homes to floods-- why do they have to rely on those who dont even make 75k in a year to help them make it through this, when just one person who spent their money on their metgala ticket could help dozens
I gotta be honest I really didn't like how...how Beige the majority of outfits at the met were this year (I had my favorites ofcourse I'm not blind) but the way it was taken so literally with "Garden of Time". Like, excuse me? This is supposed to Show us the beautiful And Game changing pieces and trends that made fashion what it is and bringing those silhouettes and designs Back!
I want Color, I want Textures, I want Whimsy! I chucked up my own little designs of what I would have personally done. My main inspirations where The 50's Dior collections, Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood (which should be next year's theme fight me) and Charles Dana Gibson's "Gibson girl". I wanted the silhouettes to be delicate yet dramatic, the Extravagant, garden party like hats with birds in them mixed into the Loose yet put together hair do's. Another thing is I wanted Bows, which always adds an extra level of class yet fun. These are mostly scribbles but is a basic concept of what I had in mind:
I want ruffles and layers with a princess bride meets Labrynth type of fantasy vibe. These obviously aren't the colors I'd use (expet very dusty blues and other shades of that nature, maybe ballerina pinks and greens. I envision this with Pat mcgrath type makeup since it helps sell the untouchable porcelain doll aesthetic I usually go for.)
So many talented people are working for brands that have changed the game and you give me BEIGE and Florals? I feel like Miranda Priestly "Florals in spring? Groundbreaking"
this years met gala legit pissed me off a bit.. like you would swear in the invitation it said “dress in all neutrals” because oooo girl.. I was seeing a sea of beiges and silvers and whites and just all neutral tones I was so irritated...
cause what was this? what was the theme? black tie event? NOOOOO so like what's the problem most of the outfits you'd expect to see at the Grammys or the vmas fuck it some of these dresses you'd expect to see at the kids choice awards before the met. especially cause the theme was like sleeping beauty in the garden... I expected color fuckin some color at least. everyone showed up lookin like the were ready for the renaissance tour... just sparkly and silver....
but anyways I guess here are my fav OFF THEME outfits that you could really see at any red carpet event but they were cute none the less ...
Zoe Saldana for chloe
charli xcx for Marni
Sophia coppola for Chanel and cartier
tom ford for saint Laurent
Jamie Dornan for loewe
Kendall jenner for Givenchy

One thing about S1-S2 leads (not charithra tho she could never because she always devoures every look) they will disappoint you on the met gala carpet like how could they do it not once but twice not Rege tho!
They should fire their stylist because this is the met how could they do this again wear prom dresses and suits are they kidding me? I know mother CC would never disappoint embarrass me like this had she gone
That said SIMONE FACE CARD NEVER DECLINED!
Me every time I see their look for the met both times😔
